Welcome back, swashbucklers, to the fifth installment of Mecha Space Pirate Quest. You are Roarke S. Starwind, new Captain of the Iron Kestrels, pilot of the Knuckle Kaiser, and master of the pirate troop carrier Rhinehawk. Here are the previous threads: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Mecha%20Space%20Pirate%20QuestHere is the pastebin with your stats and those of the Knuckle Kaiser and Rhinehawk, as requested: http://pastebin.com/sSHs0QmFBy overwhelming demand, you elected to purchase the Magnetic Grappling Harpoon upgrade for the Knuckle Kaiser, I went ahead and added it to your stats. In case you were wondering, stats for Harpies and the broken Master Harpy will be added to the pastebin before next session.
>>46656446AAAWWWW YEAHHHH! While I trust you'll reveal the mechanics/theme of running the ship and crew soon what feel/inspiration for it. Xcom 2:Isis, Metal gear solid 5? Firefly? Oh and neat image, is that the new standard?
>>46656559He's using Mekton.
You also voted for the primary color to be black, the secondary color to be white, and for the eye color to be white.Head: You've replaced the Sensor Hood head with a new one initially designed for the Thoroughbred series. It has a rounded top with no crest or fin, and a stark white sensor mask covering the face. The mask can flip up like a knight's visor to reveal a sculpted metal humanoid face beneath, with sharp-looking triangular teeth bared in a manic grin.Arms: Its current loadout consists of a rectangular Large Shield, mounted on the left arm, and a custom-made Armored Thruster Fist on the right. The Armored Thruster Fist (6 Kills, Handy, Quick) is something you threw together when you were first repairing it, as a defense against the Green Skulls or other pirates. Essentially, you welded a lot of spare Harpy armor and the two weakest thrusters on the right forearm and the knuckles of its clawed hand to give it added punch, with the thrusters facing back towards the elbow. This would be a waste of metal and a desperation weapon for most pirates, who would probably have tried to integrate the guns of your squadmates' Harpies into its design, but you are a man who appreciates the purity and excellence of unarmed combat, even your old Harpy was equipped only with brawling options. HOWEVER, this design has been improved and updated. Rather than resembling a cylindrical donut of rough metal wrapped around your right forearm, the Armored Thruster Fist is now a large clawed gauntlet with red fingers and powerful spikes on the knuckles. The forearm is massive and thick, with a cowl that extends back over the elbows covering the small thrusters that give it such a punch. On the underside of the forearm is a protruding box connected via an armored cable to a reservoir on Knuckle Kaiser's back, this box can launch your new Magnetic Grappling Harpoon up to a distance of 400m.
>>46656559Your Pirate Crew actually does have a set # for what they roll in combat, I'll have to look it up again because it's somehow missing from my notes. That # applies to both ship's rolls and the rolls for your Harpy-piloting subordinates, although officers like Miles and Richard have their own, better statlines and pilot Harpy Customs.
Torso: Your mech's torso is broad and brawny, with the excessively squarish lines of older Bucephalus Heavy Industries models. It has articulated plates around the waist, with an assembly of three adjustable thrusters shielded beneath for maneuverability, and an additional pair mounted on the back slightly below the shoulders. The cockpit is mounted in the gut, behind heavy walls of interlocking armor. Your cockpit incorporates your chair from your Harpy, because you've had time to wear a comfortable groove into it and you like the color, as well as some of your belongings. Your aviator shades, signifying your status as an Iron Kestrel, your father's prized harmonica, and a signed poster of Red Siren with a kissmark that's still as crimson as the day she gave it to you. The harmonica is a fairly cheap one, but your dad always made it sound beautiful back when he was alive. You feel pretty safe decorating your cockpit, because in addition to a backup sensor core mounted on the chest the cockpit has the ability to eject as a spherical escape pod in the event of catastrophe. It also has a standard Liftwire, an extendable cord with a foot loop attached that can extend or retract with a command from your PC (Personal Comm) when the cockpit is open, a large storage module, your Anti-Theft Code Lock Deluxe you were glad you could salvage from your personal Harpy that opens with your personal code and sends an alert to your PC if someone else tries to open it. Best of all, it has your customized stereo system, which can be broadcast via loudspeaker at the touch of a button and the most amazing speakers you could steal. The gouges and rough repairs to the armor have been fixed, it now has a smoother but still boxy look, with heavier plates fitted over the chest like a cuirass guarding the cockpit. Someone has, without your permission, removed the simplistic upward-flaring shoulder armor you installed, replacing them with rounded pauldrons studded with imposing spikes.

>>46656559Yeah, by the way, the sensor mask head shown there is what Knuckle Kaiser's head looks like unless the mask is flipped up or damaged. Oh, and to answer your first question...all of the above with a healthy dollop or several of gundam on top.
>>46656844It's still weird not to see "Hungry Like the Wolf" on an 80's mixtape.
>>46656893>all of the above with a healthy dollop or several of gundam on topDoes this mean we'll get to kidnap recruits with some kind of deep-space Fulton system? Does this mean we'll get to kidnap waifus with some kind of deep-space Fulton system?
>>46656893You forgot to mention Robotech in there.
Legs: The legs are strong and sturdy, with the wide weight-dispersing feet of older models. New ones tend to have narrower, more graceful looking feet with microthrusters to let them dance around, but there's something reassuring about being stompy. The front comes to a blunt point, while the heel is wide and rounded. An armored skirt is attached to each chunky, armored knee and extends down over the calf almost to the heel, with an array of seven thrusters on each to provide main thrust. The thruster skirt on the calves has been slimmed down somewhat and made less bulky while still remaining fantastically stomptastic. It stands approximately 20 meters tall with a proper head, and weighs 51 metric tons.
>>46656936What have we done.
>>46657011If this was /m/ someone would have threatened jhad on your family already, you brave, brave man. >>46656976It's practically required. I don't know if you've looked over the pastebin yet, but the Rhinehawk has two mecha bays that can service a total of 50 mechs. You have 26, counting the Knuckle Kaiser and Master Harpy.Generally, when you're in port and below full strength, you can make rolls to recruit people. Or you can kidnap enemies by salvaging their mech without destroying the servo that contains the cockpit (special characters may survive even if that servo is destroyed), throw them in the brig, and convert them on the Rhinehawk.
>>46657141Hey you're the one using Mekton's system which uses Robotech and Gundam as inspirations.
>>46657141Time to get the possible trap on our crew and take over Red Sirens crew.Threesome?
Your First Mate (by virtue of seniority) Miles Longshadow is out on the town looking for information that could lead to work. This leaves you with some options. You could go to the mech bay and try to figure out how spikes ended up on the shoulders of Knuckle Kaiser with no authorization (and somehow the fingers ended up painted red, too, which you're sure wasn't on the work order). Your high Cool score tells you that shenanigans are afoot.Or you could say fuck it and go play Bluegill Joe with Richard Thorslund, your Bosun (by reasons of being a big damned man) and give him shit about the fact that he's apparently calling his former archnemesis 'babe' now. They did look awfully close when you ran into them at the bar when they thought you were dead...>What will you do, Captain?
>>46657262Investigate shenanigans. Our crew's personal matters aren't ours to meddle in, at least during work hours.>>46657223Depends on how our first interactions with her go and what character art gets used for her. It's going to be fucking Asuka again, isn't it?
>>46657262I don't like the sound of shenanigans so lets go to the mech bay an check it out
>>46657217And the Harpies are a lot like small, cheap Variable Fighters. The joke is that /m/ reacts like you just used the urn holding their grandmother's ashes as a urinal when you say "Robotech" instead of "Macross.">>46657223These are the joys of being a pirate.
>>46657262Investigate the mech bay.>>46657301How is Asuka ever bad?
>>46657301>AsukaI can swear to you on my grandfather's name, which was passed down in its complete entirety to me when I was born, that the thought of using Asuka as a character reference for Red Siren never even crossed my mind.
>>46657301Asuka is best girl and you know it
>>46657262Mech bay. You may be a laid back captain but you won't tolerate this as a pilot. Your mech doesn't get changed until you say go.
>>46657262>Or you could say fuck it and go play Bluegill Joe with Richard Thorslund, your Bosun (by reasons of being a big damned man) and give him shit about the fact that he's apparently calling his former archnemesis 'babe' now. They did look awfully close when you ran into them at the bar when they thought you were dead...This so much. Maybe bug the shit out of him at a watering hole where work, rumors, or just a general bruhaha, may occur. Y'know I understand that it was the former captain that gave us the pistol to tool around with but I think we need something else special to go around with as well. We should get (so tell our fabrictor people aboard to make it) some ceramic brass knuckles that match our mech's (so roughly the same shape and red).
>>46657262Shenanigans might be important just in case it's a sneaky bugger. Mind you I like the design choices myself, but I enjoy my Brave series and Zeon.
>>46657339I have nothing against Asuka as a character, just against romancing a character who looks just like her.>>46657353WHOA THERE SON LET'S NOT GET INTO THIS ONE because we all know they're both a shit :^)
>>46657348Does the Red Siren and her crew prefer using missiles?
>>46657348Don't worry, I trust that whoever you do or don't use as character inspiration will be tasteful, you being a man of taste. And you seem very open to feedback in any case. Also nice on using my name suggestions at the beginning for a character (Richard Thorslund), and based kambe, for characters. Its the little things.
>>46657476>former-idoru-turned-pirate who broadcasts her own heists>not using shittons of multicolored lasers to make her own lightshow as she does a fucking dance number across the battlefield to her own music
>>46657324Honestly, the fact that smaller fighters are so common compared to the middle weight Knuckle Kaiser speaks loads of the situation. Civilian models being really common now and the fact that heavier war machines aren't required to deal with huge threats like green men.
Whether or not you think shoulder spikes are cool is irrelevant. Someone altered your work order, and you need to find out who and why. Cornelius Cohen's vision is no longer as good as it used to be (although you suspect it's far better than he pretends it is), so you could accept that he authorized the wrong can of paint for your machine's powerful clawed fingers (you assume the Chief Mechanic authorizes these things, but despite your own technical aptitude the actual doings and organization of the mech bay remain a happy mystery to you) but changing your designs is another matter. "Cornelius!" You bark, making gestures at the mechanics who stop working to gawk at you. "Someone bring me Cornelius!""Uh, Cap'n, he's not in the best mood right now..." One of the braver ones replies. You adjust your shades, "Neither am I. Something's up with the Kaiser, and-"You're cut short as a short, soft missile cannons into your chest and clings to you like a barnacle, crying. After you get your breath back, you're able to identify her as Karen Cohen, a girl with glasses almost as thick as her grandfather's."C-C-Captaaaaaain! I-I'm so sorry, grandfather's already scolded me but...but having you hate me is so much worse, I'm sorry!" She bursts into tears again, making your shoulder uncomfortably damp. You now have acquired one (1) crying girl in a cheongsam. >Generally assume that unless there's a [Continue] at the end of a post, you can input and interact with things.
>>46657476You would actually know that she primarily uses brightly colored beam weaponry.
>>46657428Fucking Misatofags I swear
>>46657671Ok, easy there. Take a deep breath and explain why you chose those design choices. There may be a reason for them and red hands and spiky shoulders are pretty nice.
>>46657671>Attempt to remain unphased>Apply headpats>"Why don't you calm down and tell me what it is you're so sorry about?">acquired one (1) crying girl in a cheongsam.Awesome, I think there was that old man 3 cities back who wanted 5 of those for his fetch quest.
>>46657671Tell her to calm down and explain why she did it.
>>46657671"So this is your work?" Motion at machine, "Well I must say its excellent work and the very spiting image of swashbuckling...BUT! ASK! FIRST!" Sigh. "But since you apologized for your mistake I'm going to forgive you." Headpats.
>>46657742>>46657428>>46657353Please, we all know that Shinji is best girl
>>46657671Apply headpat directly on the loli. Demand an explanation from her own mouth. Sometimes you gotta teach the loli to be responsible of their mistakes.
>>46657834Damn son, even marifags have better taste than that.
>>46657849Her twenty-first birthday was a few standard months ago.
>>46657671Wait, why is somebody wearing a cheongsam in a mecha bay? Also, QM, is there artificial gravity or not? I'm not sure whether to imagine everybody walking around or floating from place to place.
>>46657958>Girl who has no story reason to exist>Better
>>46657999Indeed, basically the only reason she's there is because they decided that Touji doesn't work as the Fourth Child for lack of a pair of tits. She's still more Best Girl than Shinji.
You sigh heavily, remembering Captain Ozark's wise words one evening when the two of you were enjoying a fine bottle of scotch, that the captain must be as patient as a stone and as wise as a wizard. Of course, this was a few minutes before he blacked out, so like much of his advice it had to be taken with a hefty grain of salt. You reach up, putting one arm around her waist to support her and gently patting her head with the other. Her hair is soft, clean, and pulled back into a pair of braids so fat and frizzy that they have trouble laying flat against her back. She's a grown woman and shouldn't be crying like this over little things, but given recent events you were wondering when people would start getting emotional and who would be the first."It's okay, Karen, everything is going to be okay. Just tell me why." You murmur, taking as much of the aloof commander out of your voice as possible, and trying to just be a man holding a crying woman. She looks up at you with a red-blotched face and tearstreaked spectacles, her mouth forming a little o of surprise, "W-well, that is..." She blushes. "I missed you. I thought you were dead, and the Captain...I'm sorry, I mean Captain Ozark, not you...the last Captain was dying and...and people were talking about how this was the end of the Kestrels, and even whether we should sell the ship and divide the money..." Her lower lip quivers, "I was born on the Rhinehawk. I grew up here, it's the only home I have...so I locked myself in my room with a welding torch and the plans I made for a gamma bomb in case it really was sold." She blushes even more, out of embarrassment this time more than flusterment. She covers her face with her hands, pulling back slightly, "When you came back...I was so happy. I felt awful for missing you more than the Captain or any of the others who were killed, but...but I was still so happy you were here, and that we could all stay together." [Continued]
>>46657969>Her twenty-first birthday was a few standard months ago.Which is why Roarke still sees her as a kid, and she'll need to work extra hard to make Starwind-senpai notice her.Wearing a dress in a zero-g environment isn't exactly how I'd go about it, but whatever floats her boat. Also, the first adjective used to describe her was 'short'. That makes her a loli by default.
>>46657999>>46657958>>46657834Look, the Eva women are bloody nuts. The only one who has been truely supportive with no ill will or intent was The EVA01. Now let us put down our collective sharp implements, wait for the nerd girl's explanation, and plan on how to get the blue pumpkin seed pilot on our side who I'm certain is a trap.
>>46658093>plans I made for a gamma bombOn a scale of spear to nuke, how dangerous is a gamma bomb?
>>46658093> "the plans I made for a gamma bomb in case it really was sold."
>>46658117>truly supportive with no ill will or intent
>>46658209True, he is the best person in the series, but he is a guy and I was talking about the females. Would still go for him mind you.>>46658172Could be nuke or the equivalent of microwaving the entire ship and everyone on it.
>>46658276>but he is a guy and I was talking about the femaleYou can't say that! That's sexist! It doesn't matter how best girl he is in his pants, as long as he's best girl in his heart.Didn't we just go through this a few thread ago?
Her expression fills with resolve, and she clenches her fist, "So I vowed to make the mech that saved you the best and most undefeatable there ever was! A real super robot!" Then her shoulders droop, "But...since you're upset, I'll go put on my coveralls and repaint the hands and shave the spikes off." Her shoulders droop even more, her voice very small, "...I just thought they looked cool."Sometimes you wonder whether Dr. Cohen's eccentricity is genetic. With another sigh, you reach out and firmly hug her again."Eh!? Captain...what..." "Shh." You firmly but gently apply your palm to the top of her head, patting her objections away, "Shh, it's alright." You allow a little bit of firmness to enter your voice, "Next time, you ask first, alright? Stick to what's on the work order." You look at her over the top of your aviators and crack a smile, "...But I like the way it looks, so we'll just say you showed foresight this time and call it square."She looks up at you, eyes large and round with hope, looking even bigger behind her glasses, "You don't hate it? You...you like my designs? You really like it!?" She pounces on you with a huge smile, clinging to you with both arms and laughing. You stagger a little, but manage to keep your feet thanks to phenomenal reflexes and innate toughness."I fixed your grappling cable too~ It's really responsive now and can shoot super super far~!"
Lets not waifu her
Are you guys cool with it if I make a villainous homage to the Phobos and this quest's Knuckle Kaiser in a future quest?
>>46657621Speaks nothing of the situation. Pirates aren't fighting war. They are pirates. They raid civilians. If feds show up then they failed in the first place with their intel. In which case Plan A and Plan B involves Running. You don't need heavy fighters if you aren't fighting. Civilians won't fight back unless they are also packing some compact guns which I would think to be illegal. It's still better than going against a gun ship though.TLDR; You can mug civilians with light "fighters" because they are civilians.
>>46658340You have convinced me anon. He truly is the best EVA girl.>>46658376Good. Well then, we should probably think of ways to improve the place and fix up the Master Harpy along with getting what we need to improve our harpies. Not to mention getting more supplies and the like to improve the Knuckle Kaiser.
>>46658376>"Y-you managed to figure it out and fix it in, what, 12 hours? We had the tools to fix it onboard? When? How?"Personally, I don't really like the red hand though. Not unless it's red on the black, painted to look like blood splatter.
>>46657970>is there artificial gravity or not? This is a question I've been struggling with. My reflexive answer is "gundam-like bullshit where people can float but have weak electromagnets in their boots and possibly elsewhere in the uniforms to keep them from floating away while not keeping them locked in place. Also, lots and lots of those horizontal escalator things you see in airports."Colonies absolutely have artificial gravity, and because the Rhinehawk is still in Colony 3's shipyard bay, you're probably still under the influence of that.>Wait, why is somebody wearing a cheongsam in a mecha bay? Why do Magical Girls wear skirts when they fly? Maybe she dressed up for you. Maybe you made some offhand remark back when you were a heroic new eighteen-year-old pilot and she was an impressionable thirteen-year-old brat who was always getting under your feet and into your Harpy about liking cheongsams and she remembered it. Maybe she enjoys the freedom of movement it gives to her legs. Maybe she wears shorts underneath it for modesty, maybe not.
>>46658111Lolis do not have tits, Anon. That's a law of science.
>>46658172About 150 Kills. It would render the ship too damaged to sell but not impossible for a determined young girl with love in her heart to gradually repair if she tried her best.
>>46658340I don't know, Anon, I think there's a difference between "very slightly effeminate guy" and "full fledged trap."
>>46658581A few years back there was a Mech Warrior quest where the main character designed mechs. Our first and only design was the phobos, based off of the chryssalid from the old xcoms.
>>46658526>About 150 Kills.C-can we get her to make more?
>>46658635Sure, go ahead then. Although it's hard to imagine the Knuckle Kaiser looking more villainous than it already does.
>>46658627Suddenly, Char's plan in CCA doesn't seem nearly so unreasonable.
>>46658700We were being weighed down by earth's gravity and oversized breasts. Explains his taste in women.
>>46658581>>46658635Yeah the HZP-1 Phobos from MechEngineer Quest. It was a Chryssalid homage from oldskool X-COM.By the way, XCOM is how Firaxis spells their version.
"That's awfully quick." You remark, still patting her head. She pushes the top of her head into your palm a little, like a cat. It's a change from how she she was back when you first met her, "How did you manage it?"Her surprisingly substantial chest puffs out with pride, "Effort and determination! And energy drinks!" Looking closer, you can see that her hair is a little frizzier than usual and she has that slightly crazed, sleep-deprived look in her eyes. That explains a lot. You sigh and let her go before her grandfather shows up and makes things awkward, "Karen? I want you to listen to me, alright?""Mhmm!" She's as perky as a bunny rabbit now."Go get some sleep. No more gadgets, no more designs, until you've had some shuteye. Once you wake up, you can start fixing the Master Harpy. It's a special job I'm entrusting to you, okay?""Okay!" She lets go...then hugs you again, goes up on tiptoe, kisses your cheek, and turns on her heels to run away with her face bright red and a gigantic, faintly manic smile on her lips.Your PC beeps at you, and you get it out, running your thumbprint over the flattened tip to unlock the holoscreen, which flares to life in front of you. One of the Iron Kestrels is on the other end, and tosses you a salute, "Hallo Cap'n. Miles is back, said she's found something."
>>46658826Well then, time to check in on her and see what she found. Could be useful.
>>46658826>"Where is she now?"No reason we can't go meet her.
>>46658728I have a theory that that's the genius of Char. He's a petty, narcissistic mass-murderer who is responsible for the deaths of countless people, many of whom trusted and admired him, and there is a decent amount of evidence that he likes little girls...but he has so much cool and charisma that instinctively you just want to overlook that fact and like the guy. Not just like him as a villain, like how Ali from 00 was hilarious whenever he showed up, but like him in an 'I'd follow him into hell' sort of way.Quattro, on the other hand, is an upstanding gentleman who has done nothing wrong and had the good taste to turn down Reccoa's venomous snatch.Cool is a terrifying stat to have maxed out sometimes, and it will be interesting to see how Roarke develops as his skills grow to match that maxed-out Cool he has.
>>46658900In a way, Roarke feels like one of the late game pilots you get in a SRW game. Rival and the like you face who's much stronger with a army of lesser mechs, and then you team up when shit hits the fan. Our theme even over-rides the enemy's!
"Where?" You're already in motion, back through the bay door and out into the corridors. It's a bit of a labyrinth for people who aren't accustomed to the Rhinehawk, but you weren't First Mate for nothing."The bridge, sir. I'm sorry I was late reporting this, but she seemed a little agitated."You wave off his concerns, put your hands in the pockets of your jacket, and swagger onto the bridge. You'd hoped you wouldn't have to spend much time here for several more years, you heard once that the bridge is where good pilots go to die when they become officers, but as easy as it is to leave things to your helmsman you can't avoid it entirely. Miles is sitting on one of the computer banks, kicking her feet back and forth and looking up at you expectantly. "Heya Cap..." She makes a face, "It still feels weird, not calling you Dude. Got us a lead~" She waggles her eyebrows, gets out her PC, and flicks her fingers at the screen to send you a file with a starship name and heading, "Got us a lovely little passenger liner coming riiiiight through our turf, and that's not even the best part." Her white teeth flash as her freckled face wraps itself around a grin that would look more at home on the mouth of some hellish deep-sea predator, "It's a VIP~ They sent communications ahead to California Station booking the best hotel on Colony 3 in advance." She waggles her eyebrows. "And all kinds of catering and other fancy things, to boot. Unheard of, isn't it? Weird, isn't it? Smells like money coming in on a silver platter, doesn't it?" She leans closer and closer to watch the screen as you scroll through the details, "I want to bully them, Cap. I want to bully them so much." You notice that the ship, The Heart of the Sunshine, is en-route from Mars, which means the passengers are from the Caliphate. Your own ship is Martian, but even though it's not a big one, the Rhinehawk has The Heart of the Sunshine outgunned when it comes to beam cannon batteries.[Continued]
>>46659223Unheard of indeed, this sounds like a trap. Though that's not to say we don't need the work. Then again if the UJCIDF wanted to promote their new pirate hunting squadron, or our other enemies wanted to finish the job. Where did she get this info? Oh well, may as well be patient and wait for the next post. And if LoGH taught me anything you charge in regardless.
>>46659315Well, our hair is orange and we do have a punchy bot. That grapple will be handy in dragging in fleeing foes.
"But that's not the weird part, Cap! See...while I was getting one of the hotel workers drunk and slipping him a few credits, I noticed my PC was missing. I figured I must have dropped it in the bathroom or something, so I went looking. I was just about to give up completely on finding it, when the bartender asked me what was going on. I told him, and he said someone had picked it up and left it with him to give back to me. A friend of mine, supposedly." She taps her cheek with a fingertip, "Only...I don't usually drop things, and I don't have many friends. Anyway, there was a second file on there. I had a readthrough, and it's...kind of scary." She taps the holographic screen, and a second file pops up on yours. This one is for a mining colony called Suleiman 1, named after the company that owns it. At least, on paper it's a mining colony. You don't see, in the schematic, a lot of mining equipment...and whoever left this even pointed out what look like manufactories and laboratories, highlighting them in red along with arrows pointing to what appear to be mecha bays. The UJCIDF having a secret military installation so far out into the Belt would be bad enough...but the information at the end of the file is worse. Apparently, the UJCIDF lost contact with the colony a few weeks ago, and the last transmission referenced spotting a Green Skulls pirate battleship at maximum sensor range. This is particularly strange, because the UJCIDF should have come down like a big, ugly boot on any pirate with the balls to claim one of their installations for themselves."Can't figure out what to make of it, Cap. What do you want to do? We need to make money somehow..."
>>46659672Lets attack the cruise liner, no risk no reward
>>46659672The factory is probably riskier, but risk is what we should go for right now. A VIP will draw too much issues while we are still recovering, but no one will care if we sell scrapped green skulls while we take the choice bits for ourselves.
>>46659672So it's either a passenger liner that COULD be a trap, or what is obviously a trap.Do we take the bait guys? I say we take it.
>>46659672Hit up the Heart of the Sunshine. We can't take the Green Skulls as we are now, especially if they're potentially entrenched in a military installation, no matter how damaged.
>>46659771I disagree. Aside from the missile totting one, the green skulls use harpies. In a tight enviroment with straight corridors, our hand to hand would be able to beat them. And with their light build, we can disassemble their heads and disable them outright. The hostage WILL grab the attention of the navy if we succeed, but we will likely not have the machines for it. Meanwhile the base could have prisoners, supplies, plus the spoils for us.The 'trap' in the factory likely assumes that the captain is down and that we don't have the knuckle kaiser. We use that to our advantage and collect the spoils.
>>46656446You ever play Gearhead, matey? It's a mecha roguelike, draws on both Gundam and Mechwarrior for inspiration.
>>46659924I only assume from how they've been talked up and how we basically lost in battle to them pre-Kaiser, that they've got the advantage in numbers if nothing else. And while I appreciate how our unique mech is a huge advantage by the standards of the genre, I can't help but worry that /tg/ dice and large numbers of rolls will screw us over if we try to go against them. This is before considering whether their captain doesn't have some fancy machine that allowed them to wreck the Master Harpy as well.Besides, we don't even know if there's a time limit for being able to hit the base. It's quite possible that they'll still be there after the we're done robbing the ship.
>>46659672Hit up the cruise liner. It smells like we can get some nice ransom money for both the ship and the VIP. Expecting a fight with a PMC group though. Money makes people paranoid after all.Send a scout to the base. I don't trust free information that pops up like that.
>>46660057The issue is we are assuming that it would be that simple. Attacking the ship right now and going for the hostage will make the navy go after us and thus give us foes on two sides. One of which has shown to be unpredictable. We do have luck and combat maneuvers to fall back on in case the dice screw us over, but as is a unknown VIP can be risky solely due to the fact that if she is TOO valuable we won't be able to handle the counter attack.
>>46659924Hitting the colony could mean we're pretty far away from any friendly ports though, while hitting the liner could let us get back to some hideaway easier
>>46660176Our hideaway is our ship. It's our base of operation. If we hit too close to the main spots right now we will draw a lot of attention to ourselves. We are in no shape to do that. Not only that, but that big navy ship is at california station. We can handle a couple of pumpkin seeds, but not a ship's worth.
>>46659672Hit the Cruiser
>>46660168We're a pilot, they're always after us hahaha. Seriously though we will piss off governments. In any case its that or find another job in my flawed opinion. We couldn't beat the green skulls at full numbers and now we're at half. Not to mention their ambush force was probably far from everything they have.
>>46660263There's a big difference between going after some civs and going after a vip. See, chances are they won't care that much about the civilians because thats standard. They'd come at us when they see us, but thats it. A VIP gives them two incentives to CHASE us. One, not paying the money. Two, not trusting us to keep to our word.We are in no shape for two enemies and as is we do not know their situation at the base. They could be looting the place for more prototypes, which means more green masks. We also lose the chance of getting said prototypes and loot.Money, VIPs, we can get those easy enough, but we are hurting for gear and this is probably our best bet.
>>46660263> Not to mention their ambush force was probably far from everything they have.Very true! The Green Skulls have multiple ships, unlike you, and Captain Galbadie's flagship Agamemnon was nowhere to be seen at the ambush. You'd estimate that if a single ship was involved, it had at least three mecha bays to support so many Harpies, less if multiple ships were sent after you. After all, the Green Skulls are a pirate FLEET, not just a crew, with between three and five vessels at their disposal (because I'm not sure how many of them I want there to be yet).
>>46660388>three mecha bays>75 Green Skulls Harpies>Only have 24 Harpies and KaiserWell shit.Voting for passenger liner.
>>46660263So you choose the time to fight. You don't just attack a whole fleet unless you outnumber them 3:1. Guerrilla warfare this shit. Intercept raiding teams returning to the fleet. However that's not the priority right now. We gotta rebuild. Raise the crew morale with some success and money. Improve the Iron Kestrel. Assemble a strike force of non harpy units.
>>46660431Nobody ever said the Green Skulls sent that particular ship to Suleiman 1......but they might have.
Remember guys we are pirates we are going to have to get our hands dirty constantly if we want to progess. So what if we end up accidentally killing the VIP it happens. Ya we will get a bigger bounty but we can't let the fear of failure stop us from going forward
>>46660388Hey just to ask, would it hurt your feelings and derail some missions you spent a fair amount of time on if we did neither of the jobs. They were both clearly dropped into our laps by some crafty, manipulative people. I more feeling raiding a tradelane or something. But if this would be mean to you, and if you put considerable time into these leads, and just generally have cool things planned, I wouldn't even wan't to suggest we derail.
>>46660382Paying money for a VIP is an incentive. We are pirates. They can trust us to keep our word because we are doing it for money not some kind of political change. You think we are some kind of filthy rebel force for anarchy or some shit? They will most likely shell out money because it's cheaper then managing the logistics to assemble a rescue force AND the intel needed to track the Iron Kestral in space. Space is pretty big anon.
>>46660690Worst case is we accidentally kill the VIP but still get the loot from the ship and then destroy any evidence.
>>46660431>>46660522Oh, right, I should have been more specific. Three mecha bays on a ship the size of the Rhinehawk. An individual mecha bay can hold more or less mechs depending on the Hull size category of the ship itself. For example, the Rhinehawk is a Heavy Striker in starship terms, while the UJCIDF Wels-class battleship is a fat Medium Heavy (I think, I'd need to check my notes).MEANWHILE, VOTING COMMENCES!http://strawpoll.me/7367190
>>46660725How would we go about seeing Samantha?
>>46660638The cruise ship is actually fairly standard information-gathering. Pirates need to find out about an incoming ship before they can ambush it unless they luck onto one.The colony is definitely suspicious as fuck. The biggest question, the one nobody is touching, is why the hell the UJCIDF didn't just send the Wels-class with Colonel Stern and a swarm of mecha to go fix the problem. Also I don't have feelings besides a cold, ironclad love for giant robots.
>>46660756Through battle, namefag.
>>46660756Her ship is still in port at Colony 2, and California Station has plenty of passenger shuttles willing to ferry people back and forth for a few creds. That's how Richard and Miles were at that bar on Colony 1 without their Harpies in tow.
>>46660782Can't we just send a scout to find out whats up with the colony while we hit the cruise liner?
>>46660872Can we go see her then attack the ship?
>>46660903No. You could send a scout out from the Rhinehawk while floating outside their sensor range to get an idea of what's going on, but if you sent a Harpy out from California Station he or she might starve or run out of water or develop Space Madness before reaching Suleiman 1. You could drop one off and pray he's able to avoid all notice until you get back, but you wouldn't be able to communicate.Distances in space are fairly large.
>>46660903Something tells me that a little harpy trying to spy that far out in deep space, with piddly little sensors, and engines and nothing to help it when their perimeter sensors light it up like the sun well... I think anybody we asked to do that would just quit flat out.
>>46660931But why. It just seems like a bad idea to show up with our very recognizable PIRATE FACE to a place filled with feds. Are you planning to drop a "Yo bitch, why you letting Green Skulls fuck that colony without lube?"

"A Colony will still be here in a few days, but if that cruise ship leaves our territory we might not get another chance to capture it. California Station isn't just our turf, the Storm Dragons, Red Siren's fanclub, and the Stone Soldiers are all nearby. Right now, we're the only ones who know The Heart of the Sunshine is coming here, once it arrives all hell will break loose." You finally stop pondering, "Miles, tell the helmsman to input an intercept course. I'm going for a walk and coming up with an attack plan, I want the Rhinehawk ready to set off the moment I get back.""Yes sir!" She salutes with a cheeky grin.It isn't hard to find a shuttle for Colony 2. Wherever human beings congregate, other humans eager to shuttle them from place to place for a modest fee sprout up like mushrooms. You trade your Iron Kestrels jacket for civilian clothes, grab a special outfit that you've acquired over the course of previous pirate shenanigans, and sling a vacuum backpack over your shoulders, pressing a button to make the bag flatten to almost nothing around the outline of the uniform. Colony 2 is as verdant and leafy as Colonies 1 and 3, and dangerously full of UJCIDF personnel. Fortunately, you came prepared. You swap your clothes for the mail courier's uniform you brought, buy some flowers at a florist's boutique, and drop them off with a note for the Corporal asking her to meet you at a restaurant on Colony 3 the day after tomorrow. You think of it as a reason to come back alive. Some pilots have weird superstitions about romance before a battle, that a kiss from your girlfriend or a marriage proposal right before combat means certain death. You think that's bullshit, because you're a man who lives and dies by his skill.[Continued]

The Rhinehawk's massive thrusters roar into life as you take your place at the helm. Avi Silversmith, your helmsman, looks to you for the signal and you imitate Captain Ozark's casual nod, "Light 'em up, kid."He grins, and maneuvers the Rhinehawk away from the Colony before punching a few buttons, "Microgate opening, sir!"A note here about wormhole gates. Gates are the reason why humanity is able to explore the stars at all. Other methods were tried or at least discussed...cryogenic freezing or establishing population ships like giant flying colonies that could self-sustain until they reached their destination, but the development of wormhole technology was what put an end to speculation and began the new Age of Exploration. The science is very complicated, but they twist space to make two points effectively right next to each other when normal physics dictates they shouldn't be.A gate powerful enough to reach other stars needs a power source and megacomputer so big that it has to be suspended in orbit around a planet, like an artificial moon. A gate large enough to take you an AU per day can be mounted on a starship, like yours, although the cooldown time is long enough that beating a hasty retreat after a jump is impossible.Fortunately, despite being chubby and having a silly hat, Avi is a very, very good pilot for his age.Reality ripples, and you swear you can feel every molecule in your body stretch and distend as the black hole in the fabric of space-time opens up before the bow of the ship. It's only open long enough for the Rhinehawk to roar through it before it closes, filling the world with white and the sound of oddly musical static...some pirates have gone mad from that eerie tune...before it opens again, seemingly just a few moments later, to reveal an unfamiliar section of the Belt. "Jump successful, Captain! We're on the Marsward edge of the belt, two points from optimal intercept position."[Continued]

"Ha! Your first jump in the Big Chair...how'd it feel, Cap'n?" Miles is grinning like a loon to cover the fact that her face is slightly greenish, although Avi and most of the bridge crew seem perfectly fine."Stretchy as always." You reply phlegmatically, wishing you had some coffee to wash the feeling of a jump out of your body.Your First Mate snorts, "Stop trying to play it cool, I hate those things too...so what's our plan of attack? We could hide the Rhinehawk behind one of these asteroids and just send our our mecha complement, giving them less time to be ready for us but denying us the use of the Rhinehawk's cannon battery. Or we could simply approach openly and demand they surrender and prepare for boarding. Your orders?"
How do pirates survive if we do Gate to Gate travel. Just post enough dogs at the Gate and you can maul anything that comes through.
>>46662620>>46662607Is 'collecting mixtapes' gonna be a full on sidequest now?

>>46662694Lets use our mechs smaller targets are harder to hit anyway>>46662696Theres probably too many gates for that to be possible>>46662714I'm down for it, it gives us an inquest reason to have our own soundtrack and give us limits to it
>>46662694Hide the Rhinehawk and send the mechs first. If somebody ambushes us, then the Rhinehawk can charge in like the cavalry.
>>46662694Hide behind asteroid. We need our mechs on that ship before they can mount a proper counter. The Rhinehawk may have more firepower than the cruiser but paying for repairs is costly.I really suspect the VIP has PMC with them. If they don't have any escorting ships then you can bet its mechs. Hit them while they are out of formation with our own or wreck their mech bays before they can send them out.
>>46662633>>46662716Although to clarify, you're heading into combat NOW. Dinner will have to wait.>>46662696Because you program in the destination in advance, wherever you want to go. There's no way for someone like the UJCIDF to predict where you're coming out. It would be like the Empire predicting where Han Solo is going to come out of hyperspace in Star Wars. However, gates large enough for star travel tend to be owned by powerful organizations like the UJCIDF, who control Jupiter's gate. This is why the Belt pirates are operating in the Belt and not on an interstellar level (yet). Individual systems, and a single star system is still a massive, massive amount of space, tend to have pirates acting WITHIN that system rather than between stars.
"Hide the flagship. Even if everything went according to plan, damaging that ship too much would make it worthless for resell and, worse, the passenger might get killed. I'll lead the raiders myself. Maintain radio contact and let me know immediately if you spot other unwelcome guests." You get up, stretch, and prepare yourself for battle.Avi holds his hand up for a high-five, and you reciprocate. He's a nice kid, you'd hate to think of anything bad happening to such a hardworking individual, so you oblige. He grins and goes back to the screen showing the ticking countdown until you can use the microgate again. You make your way into the hangar in your white pilot suit, putting your helmet on and leading the small crowd of Harpy pilots. Knuckle Kaiser waits for you like some hulking giant out of a legend, glistening black and white. Its sensor mask is blank and emotionless, but you can almost feel the wild grin its hiding. This, this is what you live for. Not scrapping with the law, not fixing up your machine, but for the thrill of the hunt and the joy of victory. On the top deck of the bay, you can see Karen in a space suit leaning on the rail, watching you. You hold up Knuckle Kaiser's massive, clawed hand and wave to her as you make your way to the catapult. You can't hear her squeal, but her eyes are sparkling as she waves both arms back, mouthing words of encouragment."CAPTAIN ROARKE S. STARWIND, KNUCKLE KAISER. LAUNCH!" You roar into the mic, as the airlocks begin to open. You step out onto the catapult, and ignite your thrusters. They've been fitted with a standard WitchFire filter, the same one the Harpies use, but on a larger scale, blue-green flames jetting from the thrusters as the catapult's electromagnetic launch system hurls you forward at breakneck pace. The flames coming from your thrusters burn higher as you accelerate, fired out into space like a cannonball.[Continued]

You hold up Knuckle Kaiser's massive, clawed hand and wave to her as you make your way to the catapult. You recover nicely, maneuvering your machine around as a cloud of Harpies follow you. The Rhinehawk begins making its way behind the largest nearby asteroid, and the Scout Harpies range ahead of you towards the steadily growing point of light your sensors identify as a starship. It's not a huge one. In fact, it and the Rhinehawk could have been sisters at one time. Both Martian, both with the same general shape, but the Rhinehawk has had its hull armored and its simple defensive beam batteries replaced with larger assault batteries. You're mildly displeased to see that it isn't completely unarmed, but hoping for this to be that easy was simply too much for fate to allow."Sir?" A voice from one of the scouts echoes in your helmet, "We're picking up at least ten mecha. Larger than ours, Martian-pattern, likely Scimitars or Tulwars."You whistle cheekily. At one time, that would have been worrisome. Martian mecha are not bipedal, ever, because the dictates of Hakimite Islam prohibit human-shaped machines as haram. That doesn't stop some Martian bigwigs, but this one is apparently a traditionalist, Scimitars and Tulwars are both shaped in the classical model of an old Earth fighter jet, similar to the shape of a transformed Harpy. This makes them less accurate and responsive, but fast as the devil. Despite completely lacking limbs, they generally equip some decent firepower into the body of the jet itself.Scimitar: 4SP, Torso 10K, Head 5K, Wings 5K each. Travel 800 meters per turn using both actions. Equipped with two fire-linked Medium Beam Guns with +1 WA and 3K damage. Cockpit in Head.Tulwar: 5SP, Torso 12K, Head 6K, Wings 6K each. Travel 1000 meters per turn using both actions. Equipped with a Medium Cannon that does 6K with WA+0 and a Rocket Launcher that does 4K per missile and packs 10 missiles. Some have nonstandard loadout, being more powerful.[Continued]

"Power down your mecha and engines, prepare to be boarded."You're rewarded with a slew of curses in Arabic and a smattering of beam fire that doesn't come close to hitting you. You realize that the passenger ship's crew is likely really civilians, or they wouldn't waste time trying to hit mecha with the cannon batteries on their vessel. Worse, these pilots are overbold because of the size difference between them and the ramshackle Harpies. A pair of Tulwars come screaming right towards you, cannons locking on.[Roll Initiative, 1d10+5]

Rolled 2 + 5 (1d10 + 5)>>46663252Gotta hit them hard first with our mech. Make civilians panic. At best they'll shut up and take it like a bitch. At worst they'll focus fire on you which is fine since we are more armorued than our harpy brothers and I trust in Roarke's reflexes
Which thread is the list of attacks we can do in? Because I'm thinking for our first action we could either need to use our new magnetic harpoonoooor we could drop-kick a fighter jet.
>>46663313What makes a mech a mech is the HMIS. You can have a tank that is also a mech if the pilot controls it through a HMIS. Human-shaped ones are just the most common because they're the most responsive, because the human brain knows how to maneuver a human body much better than it knows how to control a jet. However, your words have been echoed smugly by many a Jovian pilot sitting smug and snug in his Bluegill or Garron with proper arms and legs like God intended.
Lets decide now do we want to capture these mechs or destroy them quickly so we can get to the real prize
By the way, 3 extra CP because of the one Anon fixing the pastebin.STRIKES:Punch: Basic attack, +0 WA, deals 6 Kills with your Armored Thruster Fist. Does AN ADDITIONAL attack per Action, unlike the others.Sensor Jab: -5 WA, deals an additional 2 Kills plus your regular damage to the enemy's sensors. This -5 comes from it being a called shot, the +2K is a special bonus because a hand weapon is better suited for this than a melee or ranged weapon.KNOCKDOWN:Throw: -1 WA for every 10 tons the enemy mech is heavier than yours, hurls opponent anywhere within 50 meters of you. It does no damage, but the victim loses 1 Action.Slam: -2 WA for every 10 tons. Identical to Throw, except it does the same damage as a punch.Trip/Sweep: +1 WA, knocks defender down, does no damage.
>>46663382The pilots probably wouldn't be too keen on joining pirates, but I kind of want to see if we could use a few scrapped Tulwars to build some kind of Franken-harpy.
GRAPPLE:Grab: -1 WA. Take one object from opponent. This can be used to grab humans for a -5 modifier instead of the -1, mostly to avoid sqaushing them.Pin: +0 WA. Restrains one of the enemy's limbs with one of your own. Neither can use any systems in the limbs involved so long as the pin endures.Bearhug: -1WA. Pins both of an opponent's arms to his sides, using both of yours. The same rules apply from Pin.Dismember: -2WA. Rip off any servo from the main torso, except for Pods. Dismembering IGNORES ARMOR COMPLETELY and deals 1K against a servo of the same weight category as your arms (Medium Weight) plus 1K for every category below that. For instance, Dismembering a Harpy's Lightweight head would do 5K.FULL BODY ATTACKS:Stomp: -5 WA. Used to squash people, cars, and gun emplacements. If successful, the unlucky target is no more. Against an enemy mech, this attack is just a regular kick.Tackle: +1 WA. Knocks opponent up to 50 meters away and causes them to lose an Action if the attack is successful, but does no damage. Arms are required to tackle.Ram: +0 WA. Attacks Torso only. You slam into your opponent's torso, dealing 5K of damage (based on your mass) to both you and them, +1K for every 100 meters you traveled that action. Can be done for FREE at the end of any Action spent on movement. The heaviest unit occupies the space of the defender afterwards, with the other unit knocked 50 meters back.Drop: -2 WA. Attacks Torso only. A running leap that ends with both feet slamming into the opponent's chest. Identical to Ram, except for the -2 accuracy and the fact that you do NOT take damage from performing a Drop attack. Can also be done for FREE at the end of a movement Action.
>>46663409Punch one of them straight in the cockpit hopefully saving most of the mech and killing the pilot
NEW MANEUVER:Grapple Drag: If you have successfully Pinned or Bearhugged an enemy unit at range, you may use this maneuver to yank them towards you. Make an opposed roll, your Mecha Reflexes+Mecha Brawl versus their Mecha Reflexes+Mecha Piloting. You get +1 for every weight category you have over your opponent, and -1 for every weight category they have over you (so you have +1 against a Tulwar). For every point you beat their roll by, you drag them 50 meters towards you.
>>46663409>>46663424Hypothetically, what moves would we have to take to suplex one fighter jet into another fighter jet?
>>46663474Bearhug and slam most likely
>>46663424What are the valid Dismember targets on non-humanoid machines? The attack specifies that we can't rip out their pods, though they should be perfectly exposed in this case. Can we rip out their engines or reactors?
>>46663486You can dismember their torsos, heads, and wings.
>>46663469Considering the speed advantage they have, we should probably do this
>>46663416I wanna scrap some of that Tulwar's hardware. If it transforms into mech then it would have the same speed as us. Making two of us the fastest mech we know so far. I wanna rip apart some of the thrusters and add 2 to each arm. Leaves us enough room for the Pugilist upgrade.
>>46663503>torsosWait, exactly which part of a fighter jet constitutes a torso?
>>46663524I'd assume the middle bit that's not the cockpit or wings.
Oh, right, you're 200 meters from either Tulwar, they're flying roughly parallel to each other. If you flew up on one and used your free post-movement Dropkick (and presumably used your other Action for punches or Dismemberment) you would do 7K damage with the Dropkick. You can also Dropkick after Grapple Dragging an enemy mech within 50 meters of you, and get a bonus based on how far it traveled that turn, +1K per 100m.
>>46663550How would that produce a different result from ripping out both the cockpit and the wings?
>>46663513Ironically, the Pugilist upgrade includes adding two Thrusters to each arm. Here's a fun fact, the Master Harpy was actually made with a combination of Bluegill and Tulwar parts. It LOOKS like a Harpy, and plays like a bigger Harpy, but its origins and construction are completely different.
Also,>leave for a few hours>come back>nothing has been achieved except finishing the mission vote and waifupostingSasuga /tg/.Isn't it sad, Siren-chan? ;_:>>46663564Any chance we can get that same Technical Ability + Mecha Tech check we had to figure out the Pumpkinseed's specs? Will it take an action?
>>46663621I posted their general stats already. I'll SOON(tm) add a Target Analyzer to the Upgrade list that tells you all stats, weapons, and even the name of the mech in question. Also the delays were entirely my fault, please don't blame Anon.
So what's the general consensus on what you're doing on Turn 1, if I didn't fuck things up too badly by not stepping in on the waifu wars earlier and naively thinking /tg/ would reach consensus easily?
>>46663723I vote for Dropkick and Dismemberment on the head
>>46663723I think we should spend an action to move to one of those Tulwars and punch it in the cockpit.
>>46663723Could you clarify which portions of the jets count as Torso and Head, and what mechanical effect ripping each of them out would have?
>>46663723Move into a Tulwar. Ram for 7k. Punch it in the head twice.Gotta aggro soak. Also inspires fear when their better armed boys get dismantled that quickly
>>46663757Do you want to Dropkick it since a Dropkick can be done for free on the end of a move?
>>46663818I'm actually hoping to get the Tulwar mostly-intact, to scrap for parts if nothing else, but if enough people support a Dropkick, then I'll go with it.

>>46664091Don't be were pirates, besides we gave him a warriors death
Rolled 2 + 10 (1d10 + 10)(You rolled a COCKPIT HIT. The Tulwar takes 2 damage to the HEAD, not TORSO, which goes straight to the pilot because of the nature of the crit. For the record, 1 Kill can oneshot the toughest human being, who uses a different damage scale, you got 2 Kills on him)Bloody Martians are too used to Harpies that scatter away from them. You reach for your stereo controls, then hesitate. No, these are just PMC grunts, mercenaries like the one you pretended to be in front of the colonel. You really shouldn't waste a song on them......But you do anyway. The instrumentals preceding Billy Idol kick in as your thrusters do, rocketing towards the closest Tulwar. Before the first word comes out of your speakers, you flip your Kaiser horizontally, the thruster skirts on the calves flaring up as the thruster mounts themselves do a 180 and drill you straight into him. Unfortunately, your angle was slightly off. Unfortunately for him, because instead of hitting him in the chest you hit his cockpit with the force of a streaking missile and crush it like a bug. Oil and a small quantity of blood splash across your foot servos as you take aim at the next Tulwar, kicking off his lifelessly floating compatriot to slam two powerful punches into his own head cockpit. You would almost feel bad, but that man was a soldier, even if he was a hired one. He knew the risks, and you're a pirate, it's too late to worry about killing at this point.
Jesus Christ, a crit and then a megacrit? What the fuck, Roarke Starwind? For the record, any hit of 5 or more above your opponent is a crit, which means a roll on the ~special table~. Any roll of 10 or more is a megacrit, which rolls on the ~special table~ and also ignores armor.So.Um. You sort of just.Damn son.
>>46664170Wooo ruined that fight in one move

>>46664372You poor poor man.
You whip around in midair, tucking your left arm in close and spinning like a top as the second Tulwar streaks by. It doesn't get past your fist. You're barely aware of the notification that politely informs you that your visor is open. But Mohammed al-Tabir, after watching his commanding officer spatter like an overripe grapefruit dropped off a skyscraper onto pavement, sees it. He sees the fist approaching his cockpit...and worse, he sees the visor of the great black monster's face open up to expose a human visage with demonic teeth bared in a horrifying grin. He screams, and for the first time in his career as an Ace, he hits the eject button. Just as his prized Tulwar Custom's head explodes into pulp, the spherical environment pod of his cockpit rockets free to float within easy grabbing distance. He never even got to try out those beautiful twin-linked cannons he'd been so proud of. He vows that, if he survives, he will serve no one but God and the Black Ogre.He prays. He prays to his God, all-knowing and all-merciful. He prays for his mother to come and save him. Most of all, he prays to the great black monster to spare him.As for you, your comm fills with chatter."What is that thing, a monster!?""It's an ogre, a black ogre!""Allah save us...it's him, Shaitan himself, come to punish us for our sins!""I can't do this, I want to live! I'm going to survive!" One of the Scimitars hits its thrusters on maximum and darts away from the ship and into the asteroid belt, screaming. Another one follows.[Continued but, roll me a 1d10+11 Intimidate]

Looks like we got ourselves a cruiser for free.
At any other time, I would absolutely call bullshit on and heap derison onto any QM who had the enemy surrender after the first turn. Not today. Tulwars are not chumps and they don't job. One of them was a missile-launching machine and the other had fire-linked 6K cannons. Knuckle Kaiser ground them into paste by sheer strength of destiny and I fear to oppose it lest I too be crushed.
I actually worry Roarke's ability to end fights in one fell blow will drive people away from the quest.
>>46664550Let's see if our luck holds out for the next two mission. If it does, then it's time to deploy the aces and rivals.
>>46664550Nah I'm sure the dice would shit on us next time. Besides this is the will of the dice at the moment anyways, plus with rolls like these>>46664479>>46664480>>46664492Even hardened Serbs would run like stereotypical Frenchmen.
>>46664574Pretty sure the Knuckle Kaiser would reduce 2/3 of the Black Tri-Stars to dust and fire in one action if our luck holds out.
Rolled 9 (1d10)>>46664584lets see
"This is Mikail Uzun, Captain of The Heart of the Sunshine. Please, cease your attack and identify yourselves. To all of our brave pilots, do not die here in vain! Deactivate your machines and eject your environment capsules, we will give the Black Ogre and its servants what they want. To the pilot of the Black Ogre, I implore you to have a sense of humanity and spare our lives, at least, there are civilians on this vessel and only our escorts were military." A loud voice that would be commanding if it weren't so laced with terror cuts through the din, and one by one the environment pods of the remaining Tulwar and the five remaining Scimitars eject, leaving their machines floating uselessly. "Furthermore, would you do us the courtesy of giving us your name and the name of your band before you board?"
>>46664600I smell a new nickname for Roarke or Knuckle Kaiser
>>46664600Should we say it was the Green Skulls, get the blame pinned on them? Or would that just backfire and make the Green Skulls stronger?
>>46664617Nah people are gonna want to join the crew that took down an entire ship without any casualties
>>46664600I don't see any problem with telling them who just rang the bell and took them to school.
>>46664617Rule one of being a pirate - get a rep and get it fast. Targets will roll over if you're known as hard, fair, and not unreasonable.
>>46664600"It's good you understand, Mikail. Captain Roaroke Starwind, of the Iron Kestrels. We aren't here for your lives, your money. Have your civilians gather into the cargo hold without weapons. Prepare to be boarded. "
>>46664600>> Much obliged, captain. As long as you offer no resistance, you will remain unharmed. As for who we are, you see before you a brotherhood of free men, tossed by destiny and tragic economic times - specifically, you have more money than we do - into piracy. We are the proud, the savage, knowing no allies other than each other, and that closer than family - all others displease us at their peril. We are the Iron Kestrels. And as for my humble self, I am Rourke Starwind.
You activate video feed to every one of the surviving Martian fighters and the ship, your face visible behind your helmet. The two fleeing Scimitars see and hear it too, despite their best efforts to get out of range."It's good to meet an officer who knows his business. This is Captain Roarke S. Starwind, and these are my Iron Kestrels. Your ship, and your machines, are now our property. Consider us your escorts for the time being. Like any escorts, we shall expect payment from the ones who are expecting you, and we shall not deliver you to them until that time. However...nonessential individuals will be released at a neutral port with plenty of star traffic. Stay calm, be polite, and we all walk away from this happy." You smile, "Captain Uzun, please instruct the civilians to disarm and enter the cargo hold, this ensures the safety of my people as well as yours." You flip the frequency from hailing all units to only reach your own, "Miles, you handle the cleanup, get these machines into our bay as quickly and efficiently as possible. Richard, pick five of our best and follow me. You'll stay in your Harpy when we get inside, if they try anything funny you shoot missiles into their engine core until it cracks and get out of there." You flick off the comms, and the Knuckle Kaiser begins its graceful descent towards the open mecha bay of The Heart of the Sunshine.Spoils: At least 15CP (3 from the pastebin improvements, 12 from the two Tulwars you wiped out, possibly more depending on QM's discretion. You gain 1 Ace Pilot with a Gunnery and Piloting pool of 16, although he hasn't joined you yet.
