Is there a roll for any chapter

I've decided to do some writefaggotry for this
>>
>>45787624
Do they know this, since the navy likes them can they possibly be self sufficient and not realize that home is gone.

Fighting bravely to make their families proud, never knowing that they have long ago died.Recruiting from random worlds and indoctrinating conscripts from the warzones they ply.
>>
Rolled 52 (1d100)

>>45787674
So we're basically fanatical hedgeknights
>>
>>45787765
We're enemies with Chaos Space Marines.

>>
>>45787765

>>
>>45787791
Knights Templar/Hospitaller?
>>
Alright, to recap:
>Militia
>Priests
>Regular Recruitment
>Home World Lost
>It was a Jungle
>Light Infantry
>Close Combat
>Fanatical
>Modified Weaponry
>For the Homeworld!
>Friends with a Space Marine Chapter.
>Enemies with a Chaos Space Marine Chapter.

This is awesome, and we need to begin fluffing them out now!
>>
>>45787875
Enemies of the Bearers of the word maybe?
>>
>>45787875
Fanatical militia from a jungle world is grounds for an Aztec theme. We can have the Blood Jaguars as our Space Marine bros
>>
>>45787875
Jungle priests could lead to some kind of south-american Catholic theme, thought i'm not sure exactly how that would manifest.
>>
>>45787929
This sounds pretty cool. Anyone else think so?
>>
>>45787950
Conquistadors!
>>
>>45787950
The Contras? They were Neo-Christian Hitsquads.
>>
>>45788019

Hmmm, would they be backwardish in their rites and rituals to the emprah.(almost like savages with sacrifices and such)

or would they be all into astronomy determining their fates and timekeeping as a holy rite.
>>
>>45788020
Conquistadors sounds amazing, actually.
>>
>>45788063
I don't think that they should be backwardish, maybe somewhat behind the times, as they've lost their homeworld, and now strive to show it's strength as their Regiment's creed in order to show that they are not weak?
>>
>>45788077
It might be interesting if we play up that the regiment is conquering for a home world that doesn't exist anymore. Like, they want to keep their empire alive in stories of their deeds.
>>
>>45787875
>Poor Brothers of Saint Domingo the Ferocious
>After our homeworld was horribly scorched, and sacked by the treacherous heretics, our evacuated militia was picked up by the Templar battle barge sent to combat the defiled
>Too large to be integrated with the chapter serfs, and too small to be worthy of our own transport, we joined their worthy crusade to redeem ourselves in the eyes of our Lord, the Emperor, to earn our new homeworld
>Saint Domingo's name may not have deterred the Emperor's enemies when they came to our homes, but they will learn to fear it when we come to theirs
>>
>>45788077

Yes and the large numbers of priest with them would whip them into 'fanatical' conquest of worlds. Then they would convert the indig's to their culture and the imperial church then conscript from those converts.

This keeps their numbers up with auxiliaries like the actual conquistadors did.
>>
>>45788142
I like this idea a lot. Anyone else?
>>
>>45788163
>Saint domingo

I like it

>Poor brothers

I am iffy on that, IK they lost their home world but poor shouldn't be the word for them trying to keep up their empires legacy.
>>
>>45788206

If we're taking this as a Spanish bit then maybe we can play around with having one of those fuckhuge long names
>>
>>45788182

Yep, what was the home worlds/ small empires name though?
>>
In the thing I'm writing, I've interpreted the light infantry close combat schtick as being an adaptation of their former homeworld being basically a massive clog of jungle flora.

As in, it's plant life as far as the eye can see downwards. The megaflora extends so far down nobody knows where it ends, and this contributed to the development of 3 dimensional skirmishing tactics. The only heavy equipment are sparse flying vehicles; the plant matter cannot take the weight of heavy equipment, and in the depths of the green sea even the most skilled pilots frequently do not last long in the ever shifting and growing jungles. Therefore most went out on long term expeditions and patrols. The infantry have mastered the technique of approaching from any direction they can climb or drop to, and predicting any movement. Therefore, even against an enemy vastly more numerous or better equipped, they can choose their battles, and when the time is right, attack the enemy with uncommon ferocity.
>>
>>45788163
>Friends with the Black Templars?
I like this.

>Saint Domingo?
I like this.

Such good work, Anon!

Domingo Agustin Pro Juarez
>>
>>45788317

You got any better ideas than conquistadors in space?
>>
>>45788317
To be fair, the Regular Ecclesiarchy has enough of the Friars and Ninjas running around. Besides, Jungle Priests.
>>
>>45788317
But Space Conquistadores are cool.

Especially when allied with Space Crusaders.
>>
>>45788354
>>45788357
Hedgeknights.
>>
>>45788266

Don't forget we also get Modified Weaponry, not sure what direction that can take but seems useful.

Everyone still down for the quiet priesthood? Known for caring well for any troops they are attached to often leaving their own camps in their off time to administer to those regiments posted around them. Sometimes they marshal themselves (if they don't already have marching orders) and lead burial rights for every one of the bodies coming off the battlefield. Truly an undertaking of no small matter when it comes to the Guard and a comfort to those soldiers knowing they won't go without final blessings to the Emperor.
>>
>>45788282
Half his face should be burnt, as well as his body. From the flamers of the heretics who burnt down the church he gathered his congregation in for their last stand on their dying world.
>>
What should these guy's colors be? If we're going for Space Conquistadors, maybe Yellow and Red for Spain's flag?
>>
>>45788385

I like it, the conquistadors purge and conquer while the priest attend to the wounded as best they can and give burial rights so that no matter where they fall the soul shall find the emperors light.
>>
>>45788254
Maybe we could somehow base the name off of Aragon or Castile mispronounced in some way?
>>
>>45788448
If they're light infantry they really should wear some sort of camouflage or at least a blending color. Decoration should be reserved for hats and the like.

As far as decoration goes I'd say a single solid color would look better, either the crimson or the gold yellow.
>>
>>45788448
The original flag of the Spanish empire is is actually a red X on white backgrounding.
>>
>>45788499
The Hounds of the God-Emperor? (After the Dominicans/Domini-Canis (Dogs of God))
>>
>>45788369

>Buddhist punch monks, buddies with White Scars for maximum irony
>SIHK BADASSES, Buddies with Sanguine Shields for maximum irony
>Native American shamans, buddies with Blood Jaguars/Dark Angels
>Druids with chainswords, buddies with Stormtroopers Wardens
>Hedge Knights, Buddies with Dark Angels/Black Templars
>Polynesian shamans, buddies with Spess Sharks
>Franciscian Monks, Buddies with Lamentors

Divine dogs, or dogs of (homeworld name)?
>>
>>45788793
I would think so

>Cort├ęs was given support from a number of tributaries and rivals of the Aztecs, including the Totonacs, and the Tlaxcaltecas, Texcocans, and other city-states particularly bordering Lake Texcoco.

They take in the natives and convert them.

It should have been a whole age ago that the home world fell, now The Wandering Brotherhood of Saint Domingo has to get with he local populations as they colonize and move on to the new war zone or frontier.
>>
>>45788712
No. The Vox operator MUST state the full name. Every time.

The only humor allowed in the GrimDarkness of the 41st millenium.
>>
>>45788883

Divine Hounds sounds cooler, but Divine Dogs rolls off the tongue easily.

I lean hounds but I'm indecisive atm.
>>
Honestly I would like to keep them as pretty straight up Priest in the Space-Catholic Missionary sense of the word. Showing people that the God-Emperor's light is gentle and cleansing. Able to help them through the worst of times. Kind of like your good, calm neighborhood priest (inb4 fedorafags come out) who always knows just the thing to say.

The Missionary side is where you come to realize that they're still the Guard, infiltrating the treeline and disappearing, cutting the throats or sniping their enemies always whispering prayers and asking that the Emperor take these souls and fix them, for all can be well and made human again in the Emperor's Light.

All the xeno's and heretics are all simply lost souls who need the light, conveniently this gun shoots light as well
>>
>>45788975
Nonono, anon.

Fucking conquistadors is apparently so much better
>>
>>45788923

I'd hate that shit with all my heart and soul, but I'm not the vox operator so fuck him!

They must state the full name every fucking time or else they get the lash by the commisaro.

Everyone else (and the grunts in hushed tones) can refer to them as the divine whatever s.
>>
>>45788950
When in doubt, take the cooler option.

Also, I'm in agreement with the earlier anons, Conquistadors weren't priests. Of course, this is 40K, so simple things like that aren't important.

We're Priestly Conquistadors!
>>
>>45789002
You are by far the faggiest OP I've ever seen.
>>
>>45788923

The longer the Regiment exists and the more battles it wins the more you see the Navy Transport vox operator drinking.

Eventually he wont even be able to leave his post anymore, the moment he finishes his last transmission he has to call out another one.

Not to mention the poor data clerk in the Administratum who is desperately trying to write out the order to stop adding on to their name but it has to be done in quintuplet and whenever he gets close to finishing they've added a new title so he has to rewrite all of it due to regulations.
>>
>>45789066
This shit right here.
>>
>>45789051
Good. I'm trying to reach my quota.

>>45789066
This gave me a good laugh.
>>
>>45789066
The whole

>The Wandering Brotherhood of Saint Domingo the Ferocious, Shepherds of the Lost, Faithful of [REDACTED BY INQUISITORIAL ORDER(or insert plant name)], Torchbearers of the Emperor's Light Regiment #101

is just supposed to be the unit short name, the full real designation is like three pages long.

and the divine hounds is the unofficial nickname.
>>
>>45789066
I think the regiment should have an Official Regimental Master of the Vox, whose job is this shit.

For practical battlefield purposes, the vox operators just use 'Regiment No. X' or simply 'The Bloody Throne-Damned Assassin Priests'.
>>
>>45789066
Sounds good to me. Especially if he eventually starts accidentally saying incorrect words as they become slowly more exhausted
>>
>>45789123
What, ruining good ideas then acting autistic?

Carry on.

A shame too, this could have been a cool idea
>>
Now that we have the name down

The Wandering Brotherhood of Saint Domingo the Ferocious, Shepherds of the Lost, Faithful of [REDACTED BY INQUISITORIAL ORDER(or insert plant name)], Torchbearers of the Emperor's Light,...... [Continues on for three pages]

How did the small empire/ imperial sector governorship that the Divine hounds sought to conquer for suddenly get burnt to hell (all the while the hounds where out converting indig's in backwater planets).
>>
>>45789199
Thankfully this shit like most other stuff is made up, so just use your imagination and contribute.
>>

>>45788539

Haha look at that, literally anything else.
>>
>>45789300
To be honest, you are right in that Conquistadors aren't priests and all that, but it seems like it's stuck.

Plus the super long name jokes are hilarious.
>>
>>45789208
We could take the easy route and just say that whoever our enemy chaos marines are did it, but there has to be a more complicated and interesting way to do it.
Maybe Domingo was never truly recognized as a saint by some very powerful religious authorities, and in order to end this perceived idolatry they did something drastic. Maybe trying to arrest him and unknowingly causing riots planetwide, and weakening defenses?
>>
>>45789326
And that sucks. I would punch out but it's like watching a trainwreck.

It's sad because the Exterminators and the Sanguine Shields get to die but this dumb shit is living it up
>>
>>45789336

I like it, they were trying to put it down quietly but it just got out of hand and the whoopsed the entire planet. Maybe they blamed the CSM for their own fuckup?

>>45789326

I like the Spanish bent but I don't think the Conquistadors are the way to go, course I'm the guy pushing for the Space-Catholic Missionaries so I am biased but it seems to fit well. Plus we can keep the long names
>>
>>45789372

Noooo Anon help me fight for it, don't give up
>>
>>45789336
This seems pretty cool.

And with the defences lowered, and riots spreading throughout the planet, Chaos saw this as an opportune time to destroy this planet of the Guardsmen With The Really Long Name That Was At Least Three Pages Long.

Just as planned.

>>45789372
Brother, the Exterminators and the Sanguine Shields are some of my favorite stuff on here, and I hate that they got to die.
>>
>>45789372

>>45789412

>>
>>45789385

>>
SO how do we work this.

Spanish empire and religious fanaticism is the base of the units influences but what do we go with?

Conquistadors, missionaries, or something else.
>>
>>45789412
>>45789407
>>45789395
Why the fuck are you acting surprised? It's very simple.

You don't post a thread dies. I would keep it alive but I'm not a faggot that's going to same fag until the wee hours of the morning.

You like an idea? Fucking contribute. Help compile. Copy and paste into the wiki. But don't you fucking DARE act surprised when something dies if you don't contribute.

The Exterminators are in a strata of their own, and with the introduction of the manipulation and assassination conspiracies with the Sanguine Shields they are infinitely more interesting.

But meme regiments that are amounting to racial stereotype Space Wolves are apparently more important than something that has TTRPG modules in the works and Marines with cultural depth.

>>45789432
Dying, then.
>>
uniform's similar to that of the Spanish conquistadors
>>
>>45789385
I'm just amused that we're apparently an entire regiment of missionary-conquistador-ninjas. It's like Gaunt's Ghosts, but way more flamboyant and hot-blooded.
>>
>>45789527
This post is a well constructed and thought out post that deserves a commendation.

Anons! To the Sanguine Shields thread! Tonight we fluff the Macedonian Marines!

Wait, the Hua Yuan exterminators have TTRPG modules in the works? This is what I get for not paying attention to their threads more often.
>>
>>45789548

Dress Uniforms certainly, the field stuff though, classic white collar look, just in military uniforms

>>45789527

Yeah, that's what I am trying to do man. I thought you liked the idea too though I am getting the subtle sense you don't
>>
>>45789522
I'm honestly more fond of the Franciscan Monks thing that >>45788539 suggested as an alternative.

To put it plainly, conquistadores are not an aesthetic that I think fits a bunch of holy men that got kicked off their planet. That and Conquistador look is difficult to put in light infantry gear without looking fucking goofy. I'm trying and it's not working.
>>
>>45789603
Shit I missed the exterminators TTRPG shit to.

>>45789647

Monks, we go with monks then. What do they look like in your mind.
>>
>>45789647
I'll agree with this, we can still do ridiculously long Spanish names if we want, but Conquistadors should go, or at the very most be a small part of the Regiment.

>>45789690
All the officers dress like conquistadors, while the lay-guardsmen dress like holy men?

>>45789690

Yeah, StatAnon is supposedly working on an Only War module that displays all aspects of Hua Yuan warfare, from Mechanized Siege, to Penal units, to the Exterminators themselves.

I'm working on a Dark Heresy module based in Hua Yuan and involves the Dead Jockey and 'Nid Dust.
>>
So las-muskets: yay or nay?
>>
>>45789756
Well then have we settled on the almost sainthood that lead to riots that lead to civil war and complete destruction of the planet (Blamed on chaos by the mainstream preisthood back a terra so the Divine dogs would get raged aginst chaos who had nothing to do with the destruction.)
>>
>>45789827
Needs a bayonet and ornate wood, yes.
>>
>>45789797
Perfect base for the elite.

What should the regulars look like, they have to be religious monk looking but also combat effective
>>
>>45789842
I would prefer it if the planet wasn't completely torn apart by riots and civil war alone, and there was some invasion by nids/ork/chaos/whatever, but the defenses were weakened enough because of the instability for it to actually work. That way we keep Domingo a burned martyr.
>>
>>45789827
Laslocks are already a thing, despite having surprisingly little art
>>
>>45789912
Look at the top of my post here, I suggested that Chaos took advantage if the instability and sent forces to destroy/conquer the planet.
>>45789407
>>
>>45789912
So weakened world by civil war, chaos comes in and fucks up the system somehow destroys the whole world.

So what was the world before chaos, just a normal jungle one with large cities dotting it.
>>
>>45789752

So this plus some flak armor and returning fire for the line infantry?

There's already priests in 40k. Maybe there can be some inspiration from that, strap on some flak armor and camo-patterns.
>>
Anyone else feel a little wierd that one Anons bitching changed everything?

>>
>>45790012
It's less annoying this way, Anon.
>>
>>45790012
He was insufferable, but he had a point about conquistadors not being priests
>>
>>45790012

I know, I like the Conquistadors part, but felt he was right that we were messing it up a bit by making them priestly.
>>
>>45789931
Apparently las-locks are more ancient weapons, and are Mechanicus stuff.
>>
>>45790069

Hmmm, that mght put them out of the realm of possibility for our not mars cult inclined fanatics.
>>
So we still have to decide on the actual name of the home planet, and whatever "modified weaponry" means.

Only War has a different version implied to basically be a scrap lasgun

>>45790126

Kashteel, a jungle world with a desert tundra at its poles (Cold up there but not icy as the climate wouldn't allow it)
>>
>>45790166

Has to be something Sounding similar to a real Spanish city.We discussed this earlier.
>>
>>45790179
It sounds very similar to Castile though
>>
>>45790179
How about Castauella? Pronounced 'ka-sta-oo-eh-ya'
>>
>>45790179

I think he was aiming for Casteel, course Mahderid is the first thing that popped in my head
>>
>>45790193

Whatever the name (Kashteela would sound like the Spanish version), lets get the description of the now burnt husk of a world down and build from there.

Jungle, poles are arid deserts (deserts can be cold),What about the goverment that spawned these fanatics. Is it a monarchy that payed tithe to the imperium and was very religious because the Imperials kept them in power was it a theocracy by the priests, or something else?
>>
>>45790294

>>45788266

You can make the actual story of the inhabitants a sort of arc, really. Chaos made a move on them because they were weak and unfaithful, so they lost everything and decided to repent, only too late to save their planet from an impromptu deny-the-enemy exterminatus.

Also because a miles deep jungle is impossible to clear and better off burned to nothing
>>
>>45790294
Highly religious monarchy would probably be closest to the source material. However I don't think the monarchy should've been allied too closely with the imperium, since there was a schism over Domingo.
>>
>>45788354
>>45788378
Why not both?

So what amount of flamethrowers does the regiment have? The Ecclesiarchy and other religious-types love setting things on fire.
>>
>>45790440
On a more practical side, on the light riflemen aspect, they're more suited to hit and fade attacks.

Which I'm thinking means setting the lasgun's battery pack output to "beyond reasonable" and firing a single stupid strong shot out of what amounts to an emitter and a heavily reinforced barrel before running off, tossing their packs into the fire or plugging them into something, then going right back out.

Hot Shot Lasgun Squared. One shot, maybe two, leave. Or, if there's a heavy advantage, charge.

The Imperial sanctioned monarchy was still weary of having someone not of their royal blood tell them what to do and how to run their planet after having been a fudal world for so long and then having imperial explorers introduce 'modern tech' to their lives along with the imperial creed.Over the millennia the imperial creed grows in the commoners to rival the monarchy in power. The priest however didn't have a figurehead until Domingo came along and performed divine acts in the emperors name. The king gets all uppity at the populace admiring this Domingo fellow instead of the royals. When the priesthood asks Terra for Domingo to be declared a saint the jealous king intercepts the message and arrests Domingo and his followers for treason. The commoners of faith rebel and try to free Domingo causing a civil war, the monarchist aginst the faithful of Saint Domingo. The war rages and the PDF is too occupied with he situation to notice chaos warships in the sub sector... what next or any changes needed?
>>
I don't get it, why can't the just be space monks with a conquistador streak? It's goddamn 40k, no one gives a shit if real conquistadors weren't monks. That's the beauty of it, we get to make it however we want so long as it works and is cool!

I would actually go the other direction. Jungle infiltrators route, las guns and blades, they don't want to burn down the cover around them. Maybe they were a priesthood that was converting a highly dispersed jungle world, the jungle itself is filled with dangerous creatures (or to make it less like Catachan roving bands of heretic patrols) that the priests had to avoid or ambush on their trips to the faithful settlements. That's where they picked up their skills

The turn towards straight up conquistadors is honestly fucking bizarre imo

I'm not sure how you get that from "militia light infantry zealots". Conquistadors were professional and well equipped, and notably, are known for completely kicking the asses of whoever they ran into one way or another. To me it doesn't fit a society that got chased off its own planet due to heresy.

It just doesn't fit the guidelines. Appearance is as important an aspect to a design as anything else. Do the Death Korps look like a bunch of hoity toity puffed up nobles who prefer political posturing to decisive action?

I really think that going for Sisters of Battle 2.0 is veering way, way off course.

Considering they are supposed to be fanatics I would imagine some sort of prayers for forgiveness of both them (for their home worlds sins) and I feel like they would feel sorry for those humans who fell to chaos as well.(I feel like the last part of my idea isn't that great though as it doesn't fit in with their crazy fanaticism).
>>
>>45797372

I think it could still work, they feel like they have failed the Emperor but moreover they feel like EVERYTHING has failed the Emperor. He is the perfect guiding light of the universe trying to bring everything into line. All can blossom into perfection under his gaze.
>>
>>45797602

I'm used to the 'Lets kill everything because fuck them for not praising the emperor' so maybe these guys yelling "Beg for forgiveness!" as they ruthlessly bayonet some hapless chaos cultist is a good change!
>>
>>45797602

Forgot to clarify, they're not actually angry about this per say. They're genuinely upset about this, they weep to think about how humans have failed Him on Terra and they feel pity for those souls trapped in alien bodies (they believe that all souls have the potential to be human, the pinnacle of perfection) but they have to be killed in order to release those souls to either Purgatory or Reincarnation. Once through that the souls are purified and made human and then they have the chance to serve the Emperor.

At least that's my thoughts on it, I am open to criticism and tweaks.

So now we have the Emps Children as our arch enemies?

>We're at the point when the Castauellan monarchy is fighting the Divine hounds rebellion because the monarchy is tired of being pushed around by the Ecclesiarchy from off world, and reached the tipping point when Domingo was to be declared a living saint for his holy acts (that the King/Queen? viewed as a figurehead that could rival the royals power on the planet.)
>Civil war continues with the fanatical Divine Hounds milita camping out in the jungle and the remaining Monarchists PDF hiding in their Spanish fortress styled cities.
>War distracts everyone from the Emps children who sneak onto the planet and consort with the king.
>King gets all comfy with chaos, bad shit ensues.
>Inquisition finds out, declares Exterminatus.
>(Black templars) petition the inq. to let the Divine hounds live.
>They are evacuated from their jungle camps along with some deserter PDF.
>boom goes the planet.
>LOL you guys fought well but for your failure to keep your own home from chaos you have to go out and save as many worlds as you can and convert them to the imperial creed.

Sound good?
>>
>>45797818
Sounds good to me.
>>
>>45797703

No filthy xenos, There can be no redemption for the alien.(The Ecclesiarchy has an almost zero tolerance for Xenos, so I doubt these fanatics would either.)

But for humans and what was once was human, I would think they weep for them not achieving their seat next to the emperor.

"Lo even the primarchs fell, the perfection of humanity brought low by corruption of the soul, what chance do we the poor beggars of Saint Domingo have. And so we the Divine Hounds fight to save the untouched, to end the suffering of those who have fallen from the emperors grace, and to die for our sins."
>>
Did we ever decide what their modified weaponry was?
>>
>>45797938
it's probably modified flamethrowers

they ARE priests from a jungle world, so I bet the Ecclisarchy would let them modify their existing flamers to be more holy. Gotta purge them Heretics with holy Promethium and all.
>>
>>45797900

I can roll with that. I cannot even imagine how pissed off the Eldar would get after talking to these guys for 5 minutes.

>>
>>45798077

I would vote for combat blade. Not that I am against having some flamers in the regiment but they're venerated relics carried by the more traditional commanders. I don't think that the natives to a jungle planet would like flamers as much as the colonists of the jungle planet
>>
>>45798225

Fine with me, sword guns and under mounted flamers for all.
>>
>>45798289

I feel ya, I'd imagine since the Divine Dogs were descended from lightly armed CQC spanish-esq rebels they would use melee weapons and light arms (Even combining them) rather than bigger bulky (fuel consuming) flamers.

Also the religious fanatics with flamethrowers thing is overrated.

>>
>>45798378
Could that work?
>>
>>45798331

Well I've got one idea. They're focused on cleansing and redemption, they're not well supplied either at their onset or even now, and they're at least originally Jungle Fighters.

I would vote for modified and highly ornate las-locks. The light they shoot is a blinding white and powerful (useful for sniping or concentrated fire) but have a very slow firing rate. This allows them to be careful in their shots, lining them up. It works well with their background as well because there tends to be 2 effective engagement distances in the jungle. Very close range since you only noticed the enemy now that you were on top of them and very long range since you had set up the firing lane a while ago in prep for an ambush.
>>
>>45798392
Heretic bonfires to cleanse their souls!

>>
>>45798514
Ah, so the regiment has holy hand grenades and blessed detpacks?

So would the chaos marines have come first, then the templars came to fight them, then the monarchy turned to the CSM once they realized they had two religious fanatical forces on their planet who both followed the imperial creed?

Or am I wrong?
>>
>>45798484
There's the las-locks that were Mechanicus relics, used by the Tech Thralls.

And then there's the las-locks introduced in the RPG books, which are just second-hand, cheaper-than-bricks lasguns.
>>
>>45798514

So regiments tactics, is to lure enemy into ambush and then blow up them with IED (Shredder Mines, Spring Mines, Plasma Charges) And then burn what left ?
>>
>>45798657

What kind of vehicles does the regiment use? I can't help but imagine the conquistador infantry using chimeras to charge at their enemies.
>>
>>45798749

Feudal world just being introduced to high Imperial tech, the temptation for excess and splendor was too much for the Monarchy and they hoarded the advanced tech for their own uses.

I would be down with all of the las weapons being the really ramshackle and cobbled together look, heavy hitting but slow across the board. Blessed det packs and holy hand grenades used in ambush and the combat blades are decorated by prayers for release to the light of the Emperor
>>
>>45798787
So we should have acces to "modern" lasguns/las pistols ccw for guards. And las-lock can by a relic wepon reserved for the best shrapshooters/snipers
(nobles ?)
>>
>>45798858

It's getting ironed out and I like the direction it is taking at least, YMMV
>>
So was there any Mechanicus presence on the planet to maintain all the advanced machinery?

And how do they feel about all this ramshackle tech the regiment has to use?
>>
>>45798910

The way I see it in my head is these weapons have been used by the rebels since the beggining of the conflict, they're covered in prayers and messages from those that held the guns before them so the regiment puts some work into recovering them and passing them down to the new recruits. Helps preserve their history.

As far as nobles in the ranks no more than a few that saw the direction the monarchy was taking and pushed against it. Dumpping their coffers into the rebel cause and fleeing to the Jungles to get away from the corruption.

>>45798864

Command vehicles certainly, I don't think that Conquistador infantry is the right phrase now, there aren't huge units of them just that they get more ornate and heavier armor the higher up the ranks they go. Same deal as the weapons being decorated and having the history passed through the armor would be cool as well. You're not just taking the position but the history of the deeds they've accomplished and you're to live up to or exceed them.
>>
>>45798803

That could be one of the reasons the Monarchy hated Domingo and had him killed. He preached that all were equal in the emperors eyes and that not only the rich nobles should have access to technology, the commoners should as well.

King/Queen no like this and before he can be examined by an offworld imperial priest and declared a saint they have him burnt inside his own cathedral in the capitol along with his first band of followers, spawning a revolution.
>>
>>45799243
>>45798905
>>45798787
Where is the Mechanicus in all this tech conflict?

I imagine there's a few Mechanicus outposts manned by the worst techrpiests, with them considering this to be the death knell of any opportunity for career advancement.

When the civil war happened, the techpriests holed up inside their outposts in the jungles and deserts. Some get taken over by Chaos advocates, while others tentatively support the rebels by repairing their devices and teaching them how to Macguyver explosives.
>>
>>45798997
One or two lowly adepts in each major city took keep up maintenance on the nobles tech for a hefty price at the expense of the commoners taxes.Probably bailed as soon as the civil war broke out and either escaped off world or ran to the space marines/Divine Hounds when the king allied with chaos .

Probably not bad, they have no high tech stuff. The las-locks are homemade and low tech compared to hot shot lasguns.
>>
>>45792481
Can we get the Burgondy flag as insigna?
>>
>>45799332

Yeah the AdMech would likely send only a token few priests (if that) to basically end their careers on this backwater planet. The tech priest realizing this are even more dissatisfied being talked down to by the royals and probably jumped ship entirely when they realized the royals had no interest in coming back into the imperial fold.

I like the idea of them teaching the rebels about explosives. The holy hand grenades sounds more plausible then.

Soccer is how they pass the time between battles, and the losers get lashed (but not BLAMED*) by the commisars.

Single-handedly pulled a feudal world back from the brink of HERESY? Like, their beliefs had diverged pretty dangerously from the orthodox, and there were lots of people who gave no shits about religion on top of that.

Within his lifetime, he inspired the masses to follow The Imperial Creed with every motion and breath they took, and also performed a handful of MIRACLES that had people taking notice?

The original thought was that Domingo performed holy acts of the emperors will (cured diseases) and was wise.

But now we're getting into the idea that he did that notable stuff and then when he started talking aginst the monarchy's hording ofmodern medicine and technology from the commoners that the king got butthurt but couldn't do anything to him because he was an imperial priest (it was better not to piss off the imperial church) .But then when terra sent a investigator (inquisitor?) to see if Domingo was a saint the king panicked and had Domingo burnt alive in the capitols cathedral.

Thus sparking the civil war.
>>
>>45799616
So Spaniards? But productive?

Personally I would have gone a different route, perhaps focused on one thing like a specific Spanish brother hood. I'm seeing Cuhrazy Mechanicus stuff and Mad Max influences. The best regiments have one or two ideas that they integrate. I'd drop the Mechanicus shit and have them be an assfurious doom cult that is a walking Exterminatus out if pure spite. Or something not as dumb as Spaniards. Fucking pigs...

Dude, the Mechanicus came about out of the necessity for maintaining technology and are only a minor note. The Mad Max part was just a reference for the kind of schizo-tech on this world.

And we're a sneaky-sneaks regiment, not the Marines Malevolent. And if you want doom cult, just look at the Death Korps.

Man conquistador were brutal. They did stuff that only badasses would have pulled off.
They were in an unknown territories, with mainly hostile inhabitants and far, far from home.
They indeed fought with tech advantage but against numerous enemies.

I say that but never forget that they are also the most son of bitches of all.
They pulled of stuff that should make you ashamed of being human.
Basically Humanity Fuck Yeah, with less destruction and more give us all you have then all you will ever have.

(It's a big period of time so there is bad and good, but there is a lot of horrible).
>>
>>45799851

Well we originally went that way but it was with a few hiccups, so we went with Franciscan monks who feel sorrow for all the poor souls and seek to free them from their sin by killing them.

I'm imagining the Castauellan PDF were the Conquistador style guys. But only a small portion of the PDF joined the Divine Hounds when the Monarchy went heretical. So now the upper echelons of officers are mostly descend from the PDF who knew strategy and tactics (And also sport some of their supirior conquistador style Armour) while the lower echelons are more the fanatical powerbase of the unit and have less ornate things.(Except for their ancient venerated las-Locks)

I think we've got that one ironed out actually, it's just one guy who came in late and was behind. Majority of the line units are the Franciscan Monks, The command structure has the more Conquistador-esque leaders from the Guard and more traditional priests on the planet
>>

Thank god, you seem to be right by what the straw pole says.

now back to Saint Domingo. He performed miracles we agree on that but what happend afterwards?

He survived and was an integral part of revealing the corruption present on the planet, escaping to lead the rebellion.

I think this is a more reasonable way to attract the attention of the Ecclesiarchy and the Black Templars, tales of a rebellion on a planet falling to Chaos being lead by a priest who can perform miracles. The reports of the oncoming battle fleet spurred the push that cornered him in his main cathedral where he was burned to death.

Now what was his final act of martyrdom? There should definitely be a big one for the end. Right on the edge of believe-ability so that the more fanatical parts of the Imperium believe the monks but the incredulous sides straight up don't listen to these back water priests and their supposed saint.

his final act of martyrdom needs to be the thing that brought him back to the cathedral. Maybe when they came to see if he qualified for sainthood they brought some relics which ended up in the cathedral when the king momentarily played nice with the offworld relifgious investigators, and domingo had to get in there to try to rescue the offworlders and the relics?
>>
>>45801223
that's too much medieval no?
>>
they could still have whatever relics- a standard, a powerglove, a skull- the inqiusitors brought, but domingo was cornered buying time for their escape.
>>
>>45801304

Nice, sort of like that one test they have where they bring toys out in front of the kid and see if they play with the same toys as their previous reincarnations?
>>
For them to still have their missionary aspect we had to drop the idea that they had vows of silence. But maybe they could have psykers who are sworn to silence, only talking telepathically, and wearing grotesque masks?
>>
>>45801336
IDK when I think monks I think medieval.
>>
>>45801389
you want them to be picking a current domingo reincarnation like with the dalai lama?- that would be a hell of a reason for them to show up on a world
>>
>>45801413
You mean their psykers are literally Magisters Immaterial?
>>
>>45801304

I really like the narrative. The king hears of the offworld priests coming to test this religious figure. The Emperor's Children advise subterfuge, luring these dignitaries into the main temple and to them that plays out one of two ways. Either Domingo does not show up and people lose faith in them or he does and they kill all of them and blame it on the rebels. Unfortunately for them this is Saint Domingo we're talking about and he said fuck those plans.

I would just like to say this now, no more than a couple of Emperor's Children should be involved, they simply came to corrupt the planet. Fighting a major warband of CSM without support for a while would be a bit mary sue. I would also be down for the rebels fighting against the scouts the EC sent along to seed the planet and then the Templars and the EC main warband show up around the same time on the planet.
>>
>>45801439

Yeah except since this is 40k it's skulls. Lot's of them and then maybe he has to pick out which skulls were his in a previous life
>>
>>45801426

Well monks, yeah but soldiers evolve a lot
>>
>>45801449
i guess? but not so much in how they are but in how they are seen by the rest of the regiment- dressed that way because the others see them as sinister, and silent because they focus on what makes them evilsickwrong in an effort to sanctify it. after all these are psykers in a group of fanatics, they would embrace their own degradation, much the same way the regiment as a whole has embraced their own guilt in an effort to appease it
>>
We could have masses as priest and common folks, commanders as conquistadors leading.
>>
>>45801496
in the right order even- each skull is decorated abstractly (semi-dia des los muertos style?) in a reference to the events that took place under that leader, and the chose proveshimself by putting them in order, perhaps with "hints" from political sources
>>
>>45801534

I like the vow of silence for the psykers, maybe with their minder being their mouthpiece since I would imagine just suddenly telepathically talking to everyone in 40k is a quick way to get shot.

As far as the Regiments views on them I think they would be held in awe. Each psyker they have should have been soul bonded to the Emperor. They were in his holy presence and are a living embodiment of His Will.
>>
>>45801602
that should be *chosen*, as in elect
>>
>>45801336
If no, then look at Redemptionist from Necromunda, or at Ecclesiarchy priests mayby you will find something.
>>
>>45801602

Fuck yes, Dia De Los Muertos Skulls deserve a place here
>>
i'm thinking that the conquistador/franciscan/dominican pastiche gives good trappings, but maybe there ought to be more of a cohesive style to the regiment. Maybe in how they operate or philosophize? It might behhove us to look back to that list of other options- the thuggee ambushment could still be doe with faux-rosaries, for example, and would be useful for getting sentries- if they are light armored anyway, practically unarmed scout/assassins could be aesthetic. especially if they have loyalist or convert supporters around them for camouflage.
>>
>>45801657
but not too overdone- we need an actual artist to work up a good 40k grimdark design. actual Dia De Los Muertos stuff is too festive.
>>
>>45801755

Fair point.

I like that that style of discovering Sainthood give Domingo an even greater history in the eyes of the Regiment regardless of whether or not he was an actual saint (or maybe an unborn saint, one that was killed before it could manifest?) In the eyes of the Regiment he definitely was and that makes those actions the other skulls have already done are also his works.
>>
there isn't much about reincarnation of humans in the warhammer universe. How would the ecclesiarchy as a whole view this thought of Domingo's perpetual resurrection?
>>
>>45801934

I'm sure they've heard of crazier. The view itself sounds good, a soul that loves and serves the Emperor so well that he sends them back in order to lead those who are falling astray back to the light. That might explain why they're so militant as well, they believe that he can only be reincarnated in areas that are forgetting the Emperor so that he can lead the faithful and fix (read: kill) the broken. They go diving into these areas to seek out their saint again
>>
Anyone down for making the new thread? I am at work or I would do it
>>
>>45801997
and recruit generally, and bust out a bunch of weird skulls and make all children born at a certain time TOUCH THEM. and if they touch them JUST RIGHT, they take the kid away forever. GRIMDARK.
>>
>>45802019
I might soon.
>>
>>45802055

Nice, they do it while preaching and ministering to refugee populations from the warzones they go to. Whether or not the kids are actually guided by the Emperor or if it's just a startling portrayal of the Monkeys with Typewriters their recruitment numbers remain steady.

The Trial of Saint Domingo was done with holy relics, the trials for recruitment are done with the preserved skulls of their Command structure
>>
>>45801997
God Emperor can send back someone soul, but he cannot return to his body ? Hymm tell more about this, to mister Inquisitor.
>>
>>45802148

The God-Emperor can return to his body if he wanted to, that is not his plan though, we must trust his plans. He is testing us in the fires of war. We were found wanting once and we will not be found wanting again.
