Many options present themselves as tempting in the new year. With animal keeping growing more and more popular among the tribe, plenty of families are snatching the opportunity to trade for goats as fast as the nomads can breed and sell them! Soon nearly every family will have at least two or three females, with a male every two or three families; more than enough to grow the small population over a few years. Before you put your focus into that however, you realise you have a prior commitment to attend to.It doesn't take too much longer. The small open-sided shelters are finished, the ring completed and the altar put in place. You personally bless the shrine to Tengr before a gathering of the tribe. One of the herders surprises you however. He brings forth the same fucking bully-goat that put you on your ass when you started learning and grins, handing you a flint knife. Among his people, who routinely take the lives of their herd to feed themselves, this act in itself is sacred. A human is the boundary between life and death for the herd and consequently, for humans too. That life is a powerful thing, even from a creature as meager as a goat. They have already established a tradition of offering life to Maar, the bull god. He asks if you will do the same for Tengr>Sacrifice the goat>Refuse to sacrifice a life>Cut your own palm and offer blood to Tengr>Call for a nanny goat as well, so it is balanced>Other
>>45499495>>Sacrifice the goatWe voted for this last thread.
>>45499495>Call for a nanny goat as well, so it is balancedHey RWB
>>45499495>Sacrifice the goatYes. Fuck that goat, he's a jerk.
>>45499495>>Sacrifice the goatWe're probably going to piss someone off with this but whatever.
Fun stuff. Let's spill some blood.I know this was settled last thread, but I wanted to get an OP up as fast as possible, given it was already past due.
yuri come back
The tribe watches with a mixture of fascination and horror, as you nod to the herder and he beckons his young son forward. Together, the pair of them pull the bleating goat before the altar and hold it still for your knife. You turn your gaze skyward, searching for any sign that Tengr might be watching. Although you see nothing but a single, circling crow that seems to guess it will soon have a meal, you raise your arms up, staff in your right hand, knife in your left, facing the altar."Tengr the magnificent, O vast one who surpasses the earth! Witness this sacrifice! The blood and the life of this beast are offered unto you, in your glory and in your name. In this sacrifice, see our devotion and see the strength we pass to you! Shield us from misfortune and guide us to glory! In your name, Tengr, great god of open sky, receive this sacrifice!" You reach down, pulling the goat's head to one side and exposing its neck, then in one powerful cut, rip the sharp stone bade across its neck. The goat screams and kicks, as your arm raises and sends a spray of dark red blood across the ground and altar. As the goat's life seeps into the earth of the sacred space, the Tribe lets out a sound of alarm. Arms are upraised, as an blue star streaks across the daytime sky, nearly invisible against the cloudless expanse, save for its snow-white trail, before vanishing over the mountains."Tengr is pleased!" you cry, bringing forth a cheer from the tribe that shakes the air. "Tengr receives the sacrifice!"
>>45499495>Refuse to sacrifice a lifeThis is setting a precedent you know?
>>45500541Fuckin nice, I also hope that that crow enjoys his meal. Now we just have to figure out the appropriate sacrifices to the other gods, I don't think all of them should be animals but all of them should have worth as either food or trade goods.
>>45500541Wait did we see the crow with our mage sight? Same with the comet?
>>45500541Once the fuss has died down, you order a fire to be built before the altar (you'd have made the altar itself big enough, if you had known this would happen) and the fat and best cuts of meat are placed there to burn. It almost mimics the traditional nests you send downriver in flames. The rest of the animal, you return to the herders, who are somewhat surprised; in their clan, the ring took the animal to eat. Instead, they choose to cook what remains of the meat and feed their family and friends. There's a rumor that immediately starts, that eating an animal used in a sacrifice brings good luck. That night, your dreams are crowded. Every other Wild God you know calls for your attention, calls for a shrine and sacrifice in their name! No-one is issuing threats yet, but you can hear Tengr laughing and think that it's possible you may have started something here... But on the other hand... A huge shrine, a monument or temple to honour all the gods, at the sacred grove where the boundaries between the worlds are thin... That would be something impressive indeed!
>>45500689I fucking told you but I was too late.
>>45500687Oops, good point. The crow you could hear cawing and the comet, you put it together from what you could hear the tribe exclaiming. Is it a bird? Is it a plane? >>45500770I'll support this.
We have a choice anon'; do we assume power under the gods or attempt to gain power another way?I will be honest i think we should just explain that we did the sacrifice cause we were given a goat not because we wanted to.As to the matter of the construction of a holy site, i feel one to all the gods is far better as it unifies all worship under us.
>>45500727>See what the mood of the clan is like, talk to people and get to know them (free)I want to hear their thoughts on the sacrifice. We should also talk to Mesut and explain the problems with the Gods and get his thoughts on how to please themI say that we keep smaller shines in places that a sacred to each god individually but we should have a temple set up in the sacred grove (Stonehenge style or Woodhenge whichever is easier)
>>45500727Fucking get meat, what are you dumb fuckers doing? We don't have a herd yet
>>45500906RIGHT fuck shitGet meat, lots of meat

>>45500953Nah, she's equal to two... Ish. Probably a bit less than two, unless she's got huge. Two UNITS certainly.
>>45500953It's three units of meat, and extra does not hurt. In fact, get more meat for Soqed and in exchange see if he can keep the natural gods off our back for a bit while we prepare a temple and shrines for them.

When we get the chance, bring up sending Ebba to Nila for a while. It shouldn't be as sad given Galit has her own child to raise and we can give them time to prepare
>>45501239Then we need to get our son to be the next shaman in a few years. Because we are a family chosen by the gods apparently.
>>45501310Yeah, we should teach him what we know of leadership and of our shamanism
>>45501239I'll second that. Our daughters ain't no simple hussies
>>45501377I don't think he would be a good leader, he seems a bit too soft-spoken.
>>45501014Yeah, the exchange rate iiiisn't that good. I may have messed up my calculations somewhere. You know what? I'll fix that.
>>45501405Eh, he's young, he may grow into it
>>45501239this, just in case it needs more support. I know a couple anojs mentioned wanting to broach the family first last time it was brought up
I'll support sending Ebba off and training Noh as well. Also, see ifbwe can have Beren pop out another kid. A strong one, that can explore.
Alright, has everyone voted what they would like to? If so, I'll go ahead and call the votes.
>>45501474We need to go full CK2 for our dynasty, honestly i have been thinking about how to remove mesut from power and one thing i thought of was using the gods to kill his family. Get the storm god to strike them with lightning and other such things.
>>45502097Mesut is a friend man, he's been nothing but bro-tier.
>>45502097I would not vote for it, Mesut is an excellent partner and has already shown that he has not been grabbing power multiple times. He is an excellent partner in managing the tribe. We deal with the gods and he deals with the food and supplies
>>45502097We're not after power, anon. We're in it for the good of our family and the tribe. The fact is both would be worse off should Mesut have an untimely death
>>45502167>>45502171We voted to convince Mesut that we would lead the united tribe and it won and we convinced him at the time, which is not even considering the vote before where we said we'd lead the united tribe through spiritual might. We may not be in it for power, but we will definitely be defacto leader
>>45502531We'll definitely be the leader, but it helps to have people who can oversee the day to day running of the tribes
In your dreams, Soqed makes you an offer. He will forego the amount you previously agreed to give him, if in exchange, you make an yearly sacrifice to him in the same way you did to Tengr.Either way, you recognise that you're going to very soon need a herd of your own. The advantage of having meat stick around ready to be killed is just too great, for both yourself and the gods. Oddly enough, you note that the gods of the Sacred Heavens have not made any new demands for sacrifice. Then again, you only know one of them by name...Regretfully, as it's so late in the trading season, the nomads at your market regretfully tell you that they do not have any further goats to trade. There are handful left, but even your inexperienced senses can tell that they are old and not long for this world, well past breeding. This leaves you with a few choices>Hunt the aurochs for immediate food>Try and trap some aurochs and start a herd of them>Go into the hills to catch wild goats to start your herd>Go across the river and try to trade with the nomads directly>See if the Strangers have traded for any goats you could in turn trade from them>Other>Give it up and try next year.
>>45503170>>Go into the hills to catch wild goats to start your herdBring some family
>>45503170>Go into the hills to catch wild goats to start your herdAll of our family can get in on this. Corralling wild goats need more bodies than it does individual skillI wouldn't mind trying >Try and trap some aurochs and start a herd of themlater. But it would probably be better to make that a village project.
>>45503170It would be interesting to get the herder that provided us with the sacrifice and some others and attempt to tame Aurochs.
>>45503170>Go into the hills to catch wild goats to start your herdAlso float the idea of herding the Aurochs to the herders. Have the dogs been helping with herding? because if we have a pack of them we could trade a pup for a couple of goats next time we get the chance

>>45505679Usually... And the reason it takes so long is because I never think it is... So I don't wanna post itEventually, guilt over posting nothing overcomes quality concerns. With fall and the required sacrifice or offering to Soqed drawing nearer, you decide you don't really have the luxury of taking chances with the strangers or nomads, much less waiting for the traders to return. But there's always the wild herds in the mountains. You decide to take Noh with you, along with the dogs. Beren tells you she would come as well, but she lately been suffering from dizzy spells and fatigue and asks to stay behind. Elia offers to join you however, while his wife stays behind to look after their miracle-child. Even with the two of them well past their best years, you've seldom seen your brother and his woman happier. You make your way up into the hills. It's quite a climb, but Noh keeps up well enough. He may not be an especially strong, or talkative lad, but he's still your son and has no glaring weakness about him. The dogs, of course, charge back and forth, always encouraging you onwards and upwards. Finally, after a week and a half of searching, the pack catches the scent and you manage to hunt down a flock of goats. The dogs are an even greater help than you anticipated! You and Noh direct the pack with whistles and yells, keeping the flock contained, as on four legs, the pack can move much faster than you. In fact, the biggest weakness in your trap is those of you on two legs. Noh's strongpoint isn't hunting, although the young boy does his best and with your sightless eyes, many of the flock slip past and have to be rounded up anew. Finally, in mounting frustration at chasing the wayward woolies all over the mountainside, you decide some extra help is called for. You reach out for Maar, the bull god of the herd. Goats fall under his domain and you needn't even invoke his name and presence directly to gain some measure of control, at least in theory. The magic twists and squirms in your mind like the live thing it is, as you shape it into a binding to put around the tiny minds and springing legs of the goat herd.>Roll 1d10+6 (Spirit +Shaman +Equipment)>A successful roll will grant you 3 temporary levels of herdsman

Ok guys I have an idea about what to do with this blood sacrifice issue, we offer a god a single sacrifice a year, one per lunar cycle creating a calendar of sorts. We should also maybe improve each of the other god's shrines a little. lets not play favorites here (actually helped us deal with White Wolf).
Artfag here will do a little more hopefully soon, i want to do a little thing for each God but ill see how that goes, take care RWB. also I agree with >>45510964 pretty good idea there.
>>45511125Oh god, Awak's turned into this thread's Kyubey.Still loving the contributions, artfag. Now let's give you more to draw...
>>45511242Funny I was thinking that when I drew him, its like him letting us know about the Heavenly Gods, we think its all good and all but I think it's a long term goal to ruin us. I'm betting the two types of god do not get along, he set us up for a schism that cunning crow.

Should I make a list of basic go-to spells? You're limited only by your imagination and skill, but they'd serve as a reminder of stuff you've done before. You cast the magic out like a net, falling lightly over the panicking and fracturing herd. You don't manage to ensnare all of them, but those you do immediately calm down and become as docile as newborns. You, your son and brother have no trouble gathering a moderately-sized herd and guiding them back towards the village. While not as impressive as the herd the nomads possess, it still out-sizes most of the other herds your clansmen have purchased and haggled for.Your dogs keep the herd contained as you, Elia and Noh build a small pen to keep the herd contained. You still have some strong suspicions that they could break out if they really wanted to, but the presence of the dogs and the easy availability of food works almost as well as a wicker wall.>You now have a Moderate Goat Herd!>A herd of this size will eat and additional unit of grain every turn>A herd of this size and type will provide 3 meat every Late Fall and Late Spring>Your herd is mildly resistant to attrition>TIP: You can increase the productivity of your herd by researching more advanced means of animal husbandryI know this seems like a bad deal, but goats aren't the most meaty creatures in the world. They ARE versatile however and with a bit of research, can produce many useful goods!>TIP: If you owned a smaller herd, or were nomadic you wouldn't have to pay maintenance. A larger herd is more impressive though and animals mean wealth!
>>45511529Made me giggle. You just won a bonus on the next roll.>>45511602>Late TIP: You can slaughter more of your herd at other times, but this will result in possible attritionIt is now Early Fall. >>45511602Ok, how long until Wolfie needs his sacrifice instead of the meat pile?>Commune with the GodsI suggest we had out to the Sacred grove, and tell them they each get a single sacrifice a year, Kinda do one a month to keep it manageable, those with the biggest herds will donate to this/make it seem like an honor to donate "their goats". Don't do this alone we have friends and family remember.>Give Beren our charm to help her out a bit. >If we get a free moment at the River Shrine see if we can see our Spirit Otter son?
>>45511681I should probably remind you... While your son's spirit is contained within that otter, it'll probably be years before he starts to have a glimmer of intelligence. For now, he's just a smart otter, not really equal to a human.Oh and Soqed wants his sacrifice in Late Fall-ish... No calendar has its advantages.
>>45511714Ok we need to get this coming rivalry under control, nip it in the bud as it were, I say we go to the grove and sort this shit out before it gets out of hand. While we are away give Beren the charm and ask the family to reinforce our herd's fence so they can't escape.I'm still >>45511681 just confirming my own thoughts while I think up more memes to convert to be relevant to this thread.
>>45512303Ah there we go. I guess it's kind of early for 70% of my readers.Votes called!
On the point of sacrifices of animals, I see many way to deal with this event, the most likely and useful being; We could sacrifice a goat once a "month" to a different god every month, creating a simple calendar even if it is useless for time keeping as we have more gods to discover.Or we sacrifice one goat to each god at the end/start of the harvest or the day we celebrate the gods of the sacred heavens. Might be the easiest to do.Or we can say no sacrifices unless someone approaches us to preform the sacrifice, this means there is no requirement for sacrifice but that the gods will receive sacrifice proportional to their importance as seen by the tribes.Or we just say no blood sacrifices and get killed like an idiot.
>>45513031and we must have the gods name or symbol on their alter thereby making the gods happier because they have the first permanent name
>>45513131Nope, i don't want the gods having a symbol or such in our language, they can have a written name but the mere existence of their symbol would give them power and as such i wish for them to only have one made of many letters and a spoken name. I agree we can have a symbol meaning "god/goddess" in our language but i should mention that even if we want to get a language we either need to get one of our children on it or unite all the tribes, both of these won't happen for awhile so really it is a little pointless to argue about as of now. What we must figure out is how to stop other from being as powerful as us and i have a idea; we tame aurochs and don't share breeding pairs or anything, only selling castrated ones so as to stop them breeding outside of our control. If we invent carts then we will have one of the few animals, besides the donkeys the traders have, capable of pulling them effectively and also because it would mean the auroch would be the symbol of the priestly class of society, they seem like a good symbol; strong, hardy, one of the animals of the gods and also extremely useful.Another way to gain power is the fact we have no metal-working in our tribe, i wish to leave this to our son as to make him extremely powerful. To explain we get the traders to bring us some of the green rock that that one other tribe turns into copper, we convince them that if only they know how to make it that they can charge any price therefore potentially driving them out of business should they choose to do trading themselves, we figure how and then not only are we safe from any form of war against that tribe but we secure our position of power even more so against any threat.
>>45513324Noh showed actual interest when we visited the traders, maybe we should see how he fells about becoming a merchant of sorts?
>>45513451Could work, if we can get one of children to be a trader and use their wealth for the good of he family then we would be very powerful. Even more so than the current traders as they can't take more than they can carry while we can store excess goods at our homes. I want us to go full Venice up in this shit. Also the capatcha asked me to identify tea; it knows I am British
Unwilling to test if Beren's sickness is serious, you decide to slip the magical charm onto her wrist to help her recover. Within a matter of days, she's already feeling much better and has regained her appetite.Far more pressing for the good of the tribe however, is the matter of the gods jealousy at Tengr's new shrine and sacrifice. Aware that their requests and demands could very easily become threats, you make a journey once more to the sacred grove. The familiar tingle spreads over your skin as you feel the boundary between the worlds prickle and flex. Oddly, almost the instant you stand in the open circle, you can feel the presence of the gods all around you. This place is honestly quite crowded. At first, there is a lot of shouting, the gods all talking over one another and trying to be heard. Most of their noise seem to boil down to, "When am I getting MY shrine then?" You can't get a word in sidewise, until a sudden, deafening roar bellows through the clearing."QUIIIIEEEEET!" You'd recognise Ursa's deep bass voice anywhere. Apparently, his tolerance for bullshit hasn't got any longer of late. "Speak one at a time, or not at all. We all know why we're here.""Quite," nods Lugal, stepping forward. There's no sound of hooves, so he must have taken human form. Maybe the gods consider that more dignified for these meetings..? "Shaman, while Tengr crows about his sh-""Don't you pin this on me!" yells Awak, "I'm as pissed as the rest of you! I don't even have so much as an altar-!""-About his shrine," continues Lugal, not skipping a beat (much to the crow god's annoyance), "The rest of us are left to ask why he should receive special treatment.""What deal you make?" growls Enki, thudding the ground with his mighty fist. "You build shrine after you meet sky-god. Why is he so great?""Because," Tengr sighs, "I made a deal. It was part of my conditions for ending our feud."
>>45513451I like it.I would say we have yet to teach any of our children magic. Ebba, should be more magically inclined than even Thym.We should have Noh learn with Ebba once we get the chance. Teach them slowly and from our experiences. By the time they hit full adulthood. They will easily be able to hunt small game effortlessly. along with knowing how to herd. And possibly once our eldest daughter comes back she can teach them both how to hunt. Along with their magic. Makes for quite the team. Possibly see about Marrying Noh to one of Mesut's daughters or something of the sort.
>>45513678I agree, i feel that mesut's and our families should intermarry, mostly to combine power bases but also cause it seems realistic; mesut is an okay guy but we know that every monarchy fails after one or two bad rulers which will come unless we are in control. The reason being that we have direct control making for uniform decision making no matter what.
>>45513678>>45513764However we end up marrying I feel that we should attempt to get the spouses to join our family, especially if Noh shows interest in one of Mesut's daughters. Basically, as long as our family continues to grow in size, its all good.
>>45513817The best way to handle that may be to create the concept of a "clan" of multiple families
Building a shrine for each and every wild God will take time, we need to negotiate blessings they offer in exchange
>>45513566"Great gods," you quietly begin, clearing your throat and feeling all eyes turn to you. "I did not mean to refuse any of you the respect and offerings you deserve. My people simply cannot build more than one shrine at a time. Ultimately, someone had to be first and Tengr was the one to present such an idea.""So what now?" comes a slightly sibilant voice that can only be Emush, the snake goddess. "We all peacefully wait our turn for you humans to build us a place of worship and offer us each a life?""I had a... Slightly different idea," you propose. After you have outlined your plan to turn the very grove you stand in, into a sacred site for the honour of all the gods, Ulh, the hawk god, immediately speaks up. "If it is to honour all the gods, then that still leaves Tengr with one additional shrine and in a much more convenient spot for you humans to make offerings, I might add. Unless you propose to leave Tengr out of this sacred monument?""I refuse that completely," Tengr instantly responds. "If this is to be for all of the gods, then I must also have a place!""Why not let it simply resolve itself?" asks Maar. "This sacred monument for all of us and then as the humans desire our favour, they can build further shrines and altars and make sacrifice there.""Each of you will receive a regular sacrifice here," you assure the assembled divinities. "As well as any that the rest of the tribe chooses to make."I... Will support that," Lugal nods slowly."As will I," Nila agrees, soon joined by the voices of Isu, Haikr and Ulh. Tengr simply says that he already has what he wanted, so as long as he's not left out of these sacrifices, he has no opinion. Gradually, the gods all nod and agree that this seems like the best plan. Even Awak seems satisfied by it.
>>45513817Same. Smaller families we could likely absorb via our daughters, since we have plenty of space in our house. But we could see about Noh's Marriage to one of Mesut's daughters.Personally I want to groom Noh to be our successor>>45513904Everyone here is part of one clan. But I like the idea, of say last names? Leaving a direct line, or something. >>45513905I say We should build a shrine to "all" the wild gods. Should be something that takes a few seasons. But worth the investment and won't lead to other gods complaining about their shrine. And no one should get to uppity. Has any new technology been developed by our village recently. Been a while since anyone came up with something. We should tell Mesut to see about trying to come up with something. Say for hunting/fighting or to protect our selves from a drought again.

>>45514040Construct a food storage building and then after that is done begin to plan the Temple.
>>45514072I think we should do the Soqued offering to get it out of the way.I think its a good to build the storageThen do w.e else.No one wants to teach our children magic?
>>45514040Also is our animal pen, enough that we don't need the wolves anymore. For them to be fully contained? As for what Soqed wanted, If we sacrifice the goats life. Do we need to build an alter?Since we will be getting meat sacrificing a goat would be cheaper, and easier than going out to hunt for food or trading for the meat. I say we do this, if it doesn't require an alter.
>>45514072We should ask the other tribes for help, either with food, resources, labor or construction expertise. This sounds like the way to unite the clans, finally. Also, IMMEDIATELY we need to start teaching Noh our ways, full time, even if that just means including him in our shenanigans, and offer to take apprentices from the other tribes for 1season a year, in exchange for food or somethingRWB how is our daughter doing? When should we expect her back from Soqed?
>>45514263when you say apprentices do you mean magic, if so then i don't support this, i feel we must keep magic in the family if we can so as to capitalise on its power
>>45514320I do, but imagine Noh having 4 times the magical prowess of these guys, he'd be their de facto leader, especially if we were the ones maintaining the Wild temple
>>45514263>How is our daughter doing?>When should we expect her back? You don't have any idea. Soqed just tells you she'll be back when she's ready.>>45514072Well looks likely this will be the winner. Remember though, at harvest time, your labour points are cut in half.
>>45514320They're gonna get their own shamans eventually I think we should be involved when that happens
>>45514347Except we don't know the magical prowess of Noh. I do say we have Ebba working on magic theory slowly but surely. Along side Noh, while he governs. Thyms grand kids can be said to have the first real generation born into magic that will have a real base. If we keep to it over two generations.
>>45514349Could we deliver soqued his offering? Shouldn't take more than a day. Shouldn't disrupt anything either.>>45514233Also an answer for these if you get the chance.
>>45514364That seems unlikely seeing as we gained it from interacting with our gods and them giving it to us. Unless one of the gods decides to give it to another person, which if we can keep them happy will never happen, we have absolute control.>>45514347It matters not if we are more powerful but rather the fact that they can empower people if they so wish, this can only happen currently via intervention by the gods or us and i want it to stay that way.
>>45514746Yeah, you'd just need to choose between a proper sacrifice, or just a pile o' lamb chops.>>45514753You were no-one special before you were a shaman. Why wouldn't the gods interact with other humans?Further, what makes you think that's the only way to get magic~?
>>45514919I know it is not the only way, my guess is that had we done something to the leaves of that plant in the first threads we would have got it but since we know of no other methods and have encountered no other examples of that plant i must assume that it is unlikely we will encounter many, or any, other ways to gain magic in the short term or maybe even the long term.
>>45514753stop being dumb. they will get magic eventually. we need to make our status more special than "the only person who knows magic/talks to gods"the way to do that would be bymaking us "a leader of people who know magic/talk to gods"
Alright alright, voting has long since stopped, so I think it's time I gave you all something.
>>45515061True this may be, i would point out that I just wish to keep us stronger than those around us but if most wish to spread it then i suggest we only agree if they live in the temple/our village except when helping the other tribes.Seeing as all the tribes will move here when unified we will be making a monastery/church which we are the leader of filled with mages, close to the capital of our civilisation. We could also have them bring their families and maybe set up our "capital" around the church. That being the point of control we control, as high-priest (a position i think we should keep in the family), maybe talk to mesut about having access to the harvest from their while he has this village. Letting us gain even more power.
>>45515274And i know most will say we don't want to take over from mesut, that is not what i advise, in this case we would become his equal in reference to the growing of crops. Hell this is just me adding a note to see if we are willing to try. We will need guards and maintenance staff at the church/temple no matter what so it would make sense to include a section of the temple as housing, in such a way as to be expanded.
>>45515274do we really want all the power in perpetuity? i think it might be fun at some point to play as a wnaderer/adventurer, which we cant do if we have leadership responsibilities
>>45515432Times will change throughout generations and I assume we'll eventually be in a position to wander.
>>45515458This, give it a few generations, get a good set of advisor's, a well trained son of okay(17/18) age and we can go wandering talking about needing to go on a journey of discovery and all that good shit. Maybe even find a new world.
>>45515341Why would we want to be his equal when we have already out right said to his face, we want to be the chief? He knows of our ambitions. Will not get in our way, what we need to do now is consolidate power, to our forces so our rise is smooth.Giving Elia control of herding once we get more goats. That needs someone to spend 100% of their time there.Slowly having Elia do more of the herding giving our self more time to teach our kids. And work on other projects. >>45515458I agree, but I think setting up a stable civilization may take this generation and the next. These generations can be very fun since theres lots of potential. And subtle or not we're leading our tribe the way of producers. Possibly traders/warriors/Religious leader of the region/and more. Then after that we should be good.
>>45515578I don't disagree about not wanting to be equal but it is far easier to convince someone to let you be their equal than their superior, even more so since we could be seen by him as muscling in on his control of the grain crop.
It's finally happened... That happy day when you have more food when you know what to do with. As fast as it's being ground into flour, there's just no space to store it all! Mesut comes to you mid-way through the harvest and you both agree that you need a better system, or at least a place to store everything. You have 8 labour points available. The harvest season has the entire clan working almost non-stop, so you'll be pressed to find those with time and energy. Your land is unsurveyed.>You have a partially-completed smoking house that still needs 2 points of work>Small field - 5 points>Large field - 12 points>Smoke house - 10 points>Improved houses - 32 points>Pens and pastures - 15 points>Grain store - 20 points>Wild Shrine - 20 points>Grand Temple of the Wild - 390 points>Back
>>45516373Brb everyone. I have to run out and get some food for my room-mate and me.
>>4551637Finish smoke house, get started on grain storage
>>45516373>Smoke house 2 points>Grain store - 6 pointsLet's finish the smoke house and start on storing the grain.
>>45516373>Grain store - 20 pointsI still say setting up our own town place around the grand temple would be a good idea, something for our children yes but a good idea. We get a place away from mesut to call our own and it would allow us to commune with the gods easier, except for Nila seeing as we just go to the river for that. Additionally we want to go the priestly route to power so you know that would be useful.Additionally it seems easy to get from there to the village and back considering our people go their to pray once a year, setting off that same day.Maybe we should build a road to there?
>>45516440Supporting this.>>45516562If we build a town and it's successful the road will form itself.
>>45516604I know but i am saying even if we don't build the town we could make a road to allow for easier transport to that religious site for our people. Hell, add some low walls and it can be used to move cattle and such easily.
>>45516562You're confusing the sacred grove with the heavenly overlook. Maybe I should update the map a little... Basically, it's a couple of days to the grove and about an hour to the overlook, give or take. One links to the wild, the other to the Sacred Heavens, you follow?
>>45517393Okay, just a question, why is there a place for the gods of the sacred heavens? Considering they represent concepts, really they have little reason to be tied to a spot for us to summon them from, i won't question your decision for balancing of course but still. Can we ask them to make the access point the same place as the wild gods, for simplicity or is it just a miracle of the world?
>>45517538Simply put? You have no idea. It's just a thing that happened.I will say this much: The location isn't a spot for you to summon them forth. It's a spot where it'd be easy(er), with the right power and knowledge, to cross from one world to the other. The location isn't tied to the gods; it's tied to the world and to their world. It's the same for the Wild Grove; it's not related to the gods - it's related to the land.Hope that clears that up. anyway, counting the votes now!
>>45517862Thanks, that clears up my thoughts about why they are where were and if we could get the gods to help. I guess then that we could build a town at both? Starting with the sacred grove, building roads to both and then in-between them might be a good idea.
>>45516373Don't forget to sacrifice a goat to Soqeb, I don't think this would take an action
I've been raping your daughter and keeping her as a bitch for my packThe funniest part is that you're paying me to do itThe second funniest part is that you can do nothing about it
>>45518444That's... surprisingly dark for this thread.

>>45519580Artfag awake again, it's funny I actually expected our daughter to come back preggers as what may not be a twist but a definite complication. Will get to arting once I eat and do some stuff.
>>45519941I have no problem with this, honestly if soqed does end up having a child with her, so long as it ain't a furry.
>>45520032I'd be okay with that.No furries. And a strong as fuck grand child. Built for hunting. Making more ties to the gods never a bad thing.Heavens knows we were at least at one point a worthy opponent. Since we destroyed him.So our "genes" should be good enough.
>>45519941>>45520032>>45520114The whole reason I originally pushed for Soqed to train Sera was so we could get a Demigod out of the mix.

>>45519941I have a request. Can you draw trym based on this description?>With the half-cape covering your blackened hand, the blindfold across your eyes and now the staff in your hand, you realise you have to cut a pretty impressive and intimidating figure.Maybe with our wolves alongside us, and instead of a blindfold our eyes are just blackened?

>>45520305You should namefag! You're earning it
Even with the harvest in full swing, there's so little left to do for the smoke house that it's trivial to finish it off. The end result is something quite odd, with a mud tunnel leading the smoke into the main block. Wickerwork panels in the roof are lifted up slightly, allowing the smoke an escape, while the meat inside hangs on racks. The whole thing's a bit haphazard but works passably well. The grain store meanwhile has other considerations to keep in mind. For starters, everyone already knows the problem with keeping vermin out of the stores. To counter this, you arrange for several large stones to be placed to raise the floor of the building up, hopefully out of the reach of rats and other small scavengers. It will require you using wooden wedges to split tree trunks into flat-ish boards, but in the end, it should be the perfect place to store baskets of grain. You make some progress before the winter comes, but with so many tending to the harvest, all you manage to complete is the ring of stones.Just as the weather begins to turn, you again make your annual pilgrimage to make your offering to Soqed for Sera's safety. The question is though, which do you bring?>Just the meat, as requested (how much will you bring? Two units minimum)>Sacrifice a live goat (this will need an attrition roll)
>>45520479>>Sacrifice a live goat (this will need an attrition roll)

Guys what happened to sending Ebba to Nila to learn from her like with Soqed and Sera?
>>45522079Yeah it was voted on earlier to mention it to Beren and RWB totally glossed over it without saying anything
>>45522127Oh fuck, sorry-! I must have missed it!>>45521107You select one of your herd and loop a cord around its neck, leading it away from its fellows and up towards the Wild Grove. The two days journey there are quiet, but as soon as you enter the grove, the goat seems to almost sense what is coming and starts to kick and struggle, trying to escape its end. You use magic to pin it down and loop the cord around its muzzle, effectively silencing the noisy beast while you make the ritual dedications and offer its life to Soqed. You can't help but briefly worry about your daughter, as you reach down with your knife. She's been gone for so long after all...The sacrificed beast's blood seeps into the ground and the wind rustles the trees. You can feel its life ebbing away and the wolf god is pleased by the offering.>Roll 1d10+4 (Base +Resistance) to determine if your herd suffers attrition>This mechanic may be subject to later change... >>45523464Forgot to account for that. Not to worry as you passed anyway, but artfag really made it impossible to fail. I was going to give you another +4, the same as another relevant advantage. And as you only needed to beat 8...>>45522317The loss of a single goat won't effect your herds too badly, even after the harvest-time butchering. If you lose too many however, you'll suffer some serious setbacks. Goats are valuable; far more so than any flint tool or basket of grain. It is now Early Winter. The tribe is eagerly anticipating the annual festival and the exchanging of small gifts that has become customary. A much smaller group is expecting you to once again lead them to pray for the blessings of the Heavenly Gods. Oh god, I just crashed HARD... I think this is it for this week, but it's been a good long thread with plenty of involvement! Very encouraging for me, I've got to say.The next thread will be on Monday, as it always is. I hope you all had fun these last two days and that I'll see you then. Until then, stay safe!
