One is all bundled up in furs, and one looks like she's wearing nothing but a short skirt and a t-shirt. Looks like Cleya and Anlanesa have found plenty of wood.Calluna is using her tentacles to climb the walls as she hangs decorations, and Janrael and Tisania glide around the great hall carrying candles up to the chandeliers. The whole club is here, and dozens of other girls besides, working in the warm hall whilst outside the snow falls ever deeper. You see the brown-cloaked servants that the headmaster has hired temporarily over the winter period, going about their business: tending fires in the hall, cleaning and setting tables.
It's All Gods Solstice, and it looks like you're in for a cold one. There's already three feet of snow on the ground. You're just placing the last coloured bauble when you hear Professor Sallazar calling out below.“Girls, everyone!” His voice echoes throughout the hall “Our guests are arriving – lets go greet them and show them to their quarters!”Ah yes, this year your school is hosting visitors from another school, Sister Mary is friends with a teacher at another school, the professor told you the details but you weren't listening. All you do recall is that you'll have a bunch of choirboys and choirgirls here to visit, some religious school. You quickly head down to to ground level and head out of the hall into the freezing cold outside, reflexively making yourself plumper and growing a thick layer of fur under your clothes as the the driving snow hits you in the face. You are at the back of the crowd so you don't see much...or at least you wouldn't, if you hadn't lengthened your neck enough to look over the heads of the other girls. You see a lot of horse-drawn carriages pulling up into the main courtyard, in the poor light you can just make out some sort of school symbol, heavy on the religious symbols. You also hear the Professor and Sister Mary shouting over the howling wind, telling everyone to come inside. Out of the carriages emerge a lot of people wrapped head to foot in furs and the crowd ahead of you guides them inside, into nearby classrooms, taking their furs and baggage from them. You join in, helping boys and girls out of their heavy clothes and pile them up. There's lots of talking and confusion, so you're a little surprised to hear a voice say “hey I know you – you're the shapechanger from the castle!”You turn around to see a young boy, he looks kinda familiar.“Who're you?” you ask him, as he struggles out of a heavy woollen jumper. “Edhiem Juspier!” he says, his voice briefly muffled as he pulls his top over his head.
“Oh yeah!” you say “the Faith and Steel guys”“That's us!” he says enthusiastically “We won our last two matches this month.”“Good for you” you say, only partly paying attention, and looking around the room, as your fellow Egwen girls start leading boys and girls away in small groups.Soon there's only a few left, you need to pick who you'll be giving the tour to, or you'll just have to take whoever is left after the other Egwen Girls have chosen theirs. There's Edhiem, the young paladin from Faith and Steel. You've heard that he has a crush on Kittrane, maybe you could help him with that, because you're so kind...or just to annoy Kittrane. You also see another familiar face glowering at you, that's Ansric, also from Faith and Steel. He was angry and reckless enough to pick a fight with Kittrane, he could be fun to play with. He probably hates you just for being what you are, teasing such a hateful person isn't bad, it's a public service...There's a group of three chattering girls in novice priestess robes. You don't know anything about them. They're talking about some of the other students that arrived with them, apparently one has a crush on one of the boys and doesn't know the best way to let him know. The advice the other two are offering is useless – you could do much better. There's a girl wearing a scowl and a long dress she's clearly uncomfortable in, her arms are folded and she has muscles that put you in mind of Kittrane or Phoebe, just shorter. And there's a small shy girl with glasses that reminds you a little of Cleya. Maybe she needs a friend?Yeah, Cleya...hooo boy...anyway, enough of that.Feel free to caption this pic. With special thanks to LimeBreaker

Before any of the others can save her, er-, can choose her, you sidle up to the shy-looking girl with glasses. “Hi!” you say brightly, smiling and pouring on the charm “I'm Chame, who're you?”The girl jumps a little as she sees you next to her “Um, I'm Ami, Ami Heavensgift...” her eyes seem wide behind her glasses and she speaks softly, looking down at the ground, though you've adjusted your height to hers, so as not to tower over her. You recall that 'Heavensgift' is the surname sometimes given to babies left abandoned on church doorsteps.“Nice to meet you Ami” you say, slipping around behind her and taking her cloak off her and taking her rather small bag as well. Under the cloak she's wearing some sort of long robe that covers her from neck to ankle and looks a little baggy on her. It's got the symbol of Maros on it and they cuffs are frayed, a hand-me-down from the church. Poor girl is living on charity it seems. Well, you can help her with her clothes at least. If ever there was a girl who needed a makeover it's her. Still, that light brown hair that comes past her shoulders could be put to good use but you'll need to get her clothes off her to see what sort of body she's got before you can pick out the right clothes for her.Time enough for that later though for now you head for the door and shout over your shoulder to Ami “follow me” Grinning to yourself, you know just the room for her...XXX“Well” you say to Ami, putting her cloak on the sole bed in the room, dropping her bag on the floor, turning to face her and spreading your arms “What do you think?”Ami looks around the single bed room, complete with a fireplace and its own desk, even a small shrine to the Six set into a wall and says with a small smile “it's perfect, thank you. I wondered where we were going after that long walk.”
Yeah...you were supposed to put her in with the other female students in the dorms and these one-person rooms were only to be used in case too many people arrived. But you figure the two of you can have more fun in private.“It's not too lonely is it?” you ask solicitously “I mean, I can probably ask one of the other girls to swap if you want to be in a room with your friends, I just thought you might prefer a little peace and quiet.”“It's fine” Ami assures you, meeting your gaze briefly before looking away “I...I like to be by myself.”“Me too” you you lie, taking her cloak and hanging it up on the peg by the door, you turn around to see Ami just stood there watching you with an expression you can only read as somehow worried. She seems to be waiting for something.“Oh you poor thing” you say, pointing at the bottom of her cloak, wet up to the knee “We can't let you freeze” you head over to the fireplace and bundle kindling and a few logs into the grate, then strike a spark to light it, then you turn to Ami. She is standing next to you, holding blue-tinged hands to the fire, having just pulled her gloves off. You wrap her hands in your own, redirecting your blood vessels to make your hands as warm as possible and you step in close to Ami “so, tell me about you Ami, what do you like to do when you're not out in the freezing cold?”Ami's pale cheeks colour a little as you rub your hands slowly and gently over hers.“Um, well I'm a student at St Etrius' school” she says “And um, I like to read a lot, and um, ah, what're you doing?”You're unlacing the front of her robe is what you're doing.“This is soaking wet” you say gently “fire or no you'll freeze, we need to get you into some dry clothes.” You keep pulling the laces apart.Ami's cheeks are showing a definite blush now “But all the other clothes I have are for other activities!” she protests “like the ball and outdoor clothes and-”
“Oh in that case” you say, making a show of thinking about it “I guess we should hang your robe up to dry if you're going to be wearing it a lot, hmm, but we can't have you standing around in your underwear, what if someone came in...” You click your fingers “I know, let's get you under the covers” you pull her gently towards the bed “you can warm up whilst your robe dries.”Ami's mouth hangs slightly agape, her eyes widen a little too as you pull back the covers and say “drat! No warming pan, we can't have you shivering in a cold bed, ah well, I suppose I can spare a half-hour to help you warm it” You start to pull off your own top.Ami seems to realise what you're saying and her cheeks start to almost glow red. “I'll be fine!” she stammers “I'm sure you have alotodstufftodobye!” The last few words come out in a rush and she trots over to the door and pulls it open.Huh, maybe you went a little too fast...You press your forehead to hers and say “Hmm, ok, now you're warming up” and smile at her “I'll see you in the morning” you add with a mischievous grin, before leaving.XXXThe next morning you rise bright and early and head down to breakfast. The students of several schools are clustered around the long tables and everyone is talking about what they'll be doing today. You grab some bread and sausages and you spy Ami sat by herself at the end of one bench, perfect...You plonk yourself down next to her and say in a cheery voice “Good morning Ami, did you sleep well?”“Uh Chame?” Ami says, her expression a little flustered“Last time I checked” you say “So, today the teachers are letting us have fun, what do you want to do? Snowball fights? Sledding? Building Snowsaints?“Uh, I'd like...” Ami trails off and looks away“You'd like what?” you prompt her.Ami looks at you shyly “I'd like to see the library and the school labs” she says “I heard Egwen was a great school to learn magic in, and I don't really like the cold.”
You pause, thinking. You're all supposed to be outside, and your absence will be noted, but on the other hand, the library would be very cosy with just the two of you...But if the Professor finds you, you'll get in trouble...What are you doing today?>Convince Ami to join in the snowball fights>Reassure her that the Chame-sled is very warm (go sledding, you're the sled)>Making Snow saints is fun, Anlanesa is a great sculptor>Warm cosy Library (risk it)>Other (?)And, unleash the Chame?>Y/N

>>44424064Its a Christmas special, thats why we play one of the girls this time.Pally runs a bunch of different quests in 3 month cycles, and we had already talked about the quest beforehand, thats why lots of people already knew quite a bit about it.We also voted on who to play today in another thread this way.
>>44424064>Reading the first thread, it's clear people were familiar with it already. From discussion before the quest had started in Pallys other quests, we had brainstormed some stuff about the quest with Pally so he shared details.Calluna and Cleya were also made on player suggestion.
>>44424064This is a christmas special thread, told from the PoV of one of the students in a school for soulborns. Some background: Soulborns are descedants of soulbond, which are people infused with the souls/spirits of things from other planes, such as nightmares, abominations and even angels/gods. They were used as tools of war and then the gods killed everyone in punishment, and the soulborn (who now are hated by everyone) that are left are in specialized schools. Egwen is the school for girls with extra, let's say, challenges. The quest itself: The MC is a professor who is hired to run a Dungeoneering Club, to help the school win a competition for funds and help some of the more problematic girls to get over their issues. The schedulee: set to return in three months.
Sledding it is, and being calmer
>>44424064Since it might become relvant during this thread you might need to knwo some spoilers At one point during the later part of the quest Chame pulls a extremly dickish stunt against some of the other girls, which is why she is currently very unpopular with most of them and a lot of the other students, especially Cleya, Anlanesa and Kittrane.Hopefully with the power of christmas spirit Chame can fix it though, no idea what Pally has planned there though

“We can't stay inside” you tell Ami, much to her disappointment “but if you're worried about the cold, I'd recommend sledding.”“Why?” she looks at you with a slightly suspicious expression. Huh, has someone told her about you? It was probably Anlanesa...“Because” you say “I'm sure I can find you a sled that's all covered up and warm.”Ami looks impressed “Wow” she says “Egwen really does have everything.”XXXAfter breakfast the two of you are bundled up in your thick winter clothes and join a bunch of other girls and boys heading into the hills near the school. You spot Nataline and Janrael and Calluna, all leading pairs or small groups up the hill. Syphoebeus is there two, surrounded by a group of almost a dozen boys who are slogging hard through the snow like its a race. Wow, you didn't think Phoebe liked groups that big, you don't know whether to be impressed or maybe jealous. You're joined by students from all the schools and the sledders number maybe sixty in total. You finally make it to the top of the main hill where the sleds are waiting, all of you breathing hard and your breath making steamy clouds in the cold, but thankfully still air.Standing by the sleds is Taynathil, the Professors Not-Girlfriend.When the last students arrives she walks across the top of the snow like it was solid ground. She's only wearing a thin pale grey outfit covered in some sort of fur, how is she not freezing to death in that? Must be an elf thing.Taynathil marches up and down in front of the group “You are here to go sledding” she says “Fine, but you only go on the three prepared slopes” she points out three routes of varying length and steepness that have been flattened and prepared, each has a large heap of snow at the bottom – to stop anyone who can't stop their own sled.“If you go off them” she warns you all “You'll be spending the rest of the morning inside, now, grab your sleds.” She gestures to the sparse wooden framed contraptions.
As the others dive in, grabbing sleds of different sizes, Ami gives a small murmur of disappointment. Her cheeks are still red from the exertion of the climb but she's hugging herself and rubbing at her arms with her hands.“You said the sleds were warm” she says accusingly, giving you a somewhat tiomid glare, they looking away when you raise an eyebrow at her.You adopt a noblewomans voice “let the peasants have their quaint little contraptions” you say “you ride in style.” And you start to shift. You'll need a covered sled, shaped like a long, dark- hmm no, too obvious, an arrowhead, yes that's right. Fur-lined with a high back and a screen to protect the passengers face from flying snow, but not so high she can't see where you're going. After a few minutes you can see Ami standing there, her mouth gaping open and her hands pressed to her cheeks, as before her sits the ChameSled – the greatest sled in the world. “Amazing...” is all she can say. From a mouth set on the backrest, at her ear height you say “what are you waiting for – Mount the Chame!”You hear laughter all around you and Ami's cheeks, gone pale from the cold, brighten a little. From off to one side you hear Nataline yell playfully “Watch out where Chame puts the gripping bar, it needs to be at arms length and horizontal, not vertical and rubbing right up against your-”“You're the only one who requests that feature Nat!” you yell back, grinning a sharp-toothed grin. Nataline and the large group around her burst into giggles.Somewhat hesitantly Ami slips inside you. You adjust the size of your body to hug up against her. To keep her warm of course.“Umm” says Ami, once she's comfortable “how do we get to the slope?”You grow dozens of little legs underneath your sled “Let me worry about that” you say.
XXXYou spend the morning trying out all of the sledding routes, going slow at first, then faster. Despite her initial shyness Ami becomes more outgoing as you carry her around, the two of you chatting as you wait in line behind other sledders. She confesses to you that she would like to learn wizard magic, but her school has no actual teachers for that, and that she'll mostly likely join the church as a priestess. It's almost lunchtime and you're making your last run off the morning, in behind Syphoebeus and four boys one one of the larger sleds. They set off down the longest and steepest slope at speed and you let them get some distance before throwing yourself after them, Ami giving a whoop of delight, ah yes, even the shyest of people become more outgoing when excited, just as planned. Then something goes wrong. Phoebe yells something angrily and throws one of her passengers off, he goes rolling in the snow before eventually coming to a halt. Then her sled starts to weave all over the place, and cuts straight in front of you.Rather than slam into then you execute a sharp turn as Ami gives a short scream and you both go running off the slope...and straight off a cliff.Ami's scream gets louder. You think very fast, if this was just you, you'd just turn into a bird, or a spongy ball. You need wings big enough to bear both your weights, and extra padding in case this doesn't work...Your form ripples and shifts and your fall turns into a controlled glide, the two of you you eventually coming down to the ground far from the slope.“What, what was that?” squeaks Ami, still held tightly in your body.“I think one of the boys make the mistake of grabbing Phoebes breasts” you say, your warm breath misting into Ami's ear “if she doesn't crush him, Kittrane will, are you ok?”“Fine” Ami reassures you “Are we going to get in trouble for this?”“Nah” you reassure her “c'mon, we'll miss lunch”XXX
Your prediction turns out to be true, the two of you are received with words of worry and concern rather than discipline, though the boy Phoebe threw from her sled will be writing lines all afternoon. And Kittrane's face is looking like murder, so it's probably best if he doesn't try to sneak out.You and the other students each warmed bread, cheese and stew for lunch and the tables buzz with stories of what happened during the various activities that morning. After lunch you all have a half-hour before you're outside again and most spend it in the great halls just chatting, though a few parties go off exploring the school buildings. You're say next to Ami and she says quietly “thank you Chame, for saving me”.You smile at her “did you really think I wouldn't?”Ami doesn't seem to know how to answer that, so instead she asks “so um, what can you turn into, I mean, what are your limits?”You sense an opportunity here....What do you do?>Turn into lots of different forms>Turn into Ami>You think I'm wearing clothes? Rolled 10 + 2 (1d20 + 2)>>44424158Here goes nothing!
>>44424776Oh late anon, you're so adorable.
We should probably introduce her to Sallazar, seeing as she wants to be a Wizard. It'll get us brownie points.
>>44424869Why? She doesn't study at Egwen, it's not going to do anything for her.
>>44424944Sallazar could have contacts he can get her involved with.
>>44424944She still wants to know more about magic, and it'd be nice. Who knows, maybe Sallazar can do something more long-term.Can't Sallazar teach someone to be a 1st level Wizard in, like, an afternoon at this point?
You toy with the idea of just removing your clothes, but that's probably a bit forward. Besides, when people ask you what you can turn into, they want to see variety.“Well” you start to say, and then your eyes go wide as you gaze over her shoulder and say urgently “duck!”Ami ducks her head down and turns to look, but not seeing any danger she turns back to you, only to see a brightly coloured duck on the bench.“Oh very funny” says Ami, rolling her eyes.“Hey it was either this or a goose” you say, your smile appearing on the ducks face “and I figured this would be less likely to badger you” On the second to last word the duck is replaced by a striped burrowing animal.Ami groans a little.“Am I too much to bear?” your badger-form asks, before shifting again, into a small bear. Used to your antics, most of the Egwen girls aren't bothered by a bear sat on the bench, but students from some of the other schools are gaping.“No more” Ami says, as you show her a variety of forms, matching each of them to a pun.“Oh I'm not stumped yet” you reassure her “I can't just cloak myself from the world....” Eventually Ami starts giggling at your stupid humour. You notice the Professor walking up to the front of the hall, ready to announce the afternoons activities, time for one last form.“Of course all of this is just clothing” you say “what really matters is who we really are.”And then Ami is face-to-face with herself, she gasps and pulls back slightly, before raising a hand to hesitantly touch your cheek, her fingertips brushing very lightly against the perfect copy of her own face. You mimic her action perfectly, brushing your own fingertips against her face.“So you can be anything?” she asks softly, sounding awed “can you see when you're an object.”
You speak just as softly, Ami leans into hear your answer “I can see and hear normally” you reassure her, your faces only inches apart, gazing into each others eyes “and I can feel everything, and control every inch of my body perfectly” Ami's eyes have widened and her breath tickles your face as you lean in to-Calluna's tentacle slaps against your arm and you glare at her but she simply nods to the head of the hall, where Professor Sallazar is talking.Ami pulls back and bites her lower lip, also looking to the front, ignoring her warming cheeks.“So to recap” says the Professor “You can go skating on the pond, you can stay inside and set up decorations in the castle, or even have a little bit of free time to yourselves if you stay inside and tell me where you'll be going and what you'll be doing.”You turn to suggest to Ami that the two of you go off exploring, at the same time she says “Can we visit the library now?” The library will be filled with nerds you think, hardly the time for you the two of you to get any privacy.Plus, putting up decorations will give you a chance to examine everyone's gifts and you can tell people what they're getting.Or if you and Ami go exploring, you can have some fun messing with other students...You make a show of thinking about it, turning your head slightly, only to see Nevyn sneaking out of one of the great halls doors, looking around to make sure no one is seeing her leave. Where is she going on her own? There's not much in that direction except a hallway leading outside. And she sure seemed in a big hurry. You didn't get to be the most beloved girl in the school without having an instinct for trouble, and Nevyns manner is tripping that sense something fierce. All around you the new brown-cloaked servants start clearing away the plates and remains of the food.

>>44425420>Next best thing is to split up and let her do her thing while we do ours. But she CAN'T do her thing on her own, she doesn't know where the damn library IS,we are supposed to show her around, so if we ditch her, she stand around for the entire time or until someone else takes pity on her.
>>44425423Not by my dick. It refuses to pop a boner at Chame anymore.
>>44425434So get someone to take her to the Library. Not a big deal.
>>44425448Not something thats compatible with following Nevyn, for obvious reasons.
You wonder where Nevyn's going? She's not always the most sociable person, and she's only gotten weirder since she grew those tentacles. And not weird in a good way, you tried to show her some of the fun things she can do with her new limbs, but she wasn't interested. More fool her, she's a healthy young girl after all...“C'mon” you say to Ami, taking her hand in yours and heading towards a different door out of the great hall, for all anyone knows you could be visiting the water closet after all. Once outside you take Ami through several winding corridors, grabbing your coats and exiting the main building, you can just see the form of Nevyn in the distance, heading towards the treeline. It's also starting to get dark.“What's the matter?” Asks Ami.“It's Nevyn” You say, pointing “something is up, and I intend to find out what.”“Ah” says Ami “you're worried about your friend?”Sure, yeah, let's go with that “Very” you say. Truthfully you just sense trouble “there's dangerous animals out in the forest” you add lamely. At your side Ami chants something in a strange language and makes some gestures in the air. You feel a little funny.“What's that?” you ask.“Concealment spell” says Ami “it should stop those animals from finding us.”“Very nice” you say, giving her hand an encouraging squeeze “You're really good at this magic stuff, are we invisible?”Ami smiles but shakes her head “No” she says “just hard to see, smell or hear.”You follow Nevyn as she heads off into the forest, alone, no Phaysis in sight, that's not right, in fact that's dangerous, following her really is the right thing to do, keep her safe and all.The two of you trail Nevyn, far back so she doesn't see you, being as stealthy as you can in the deep snow, fortunately the snow gradually disappears as you get deeper into the forest. You follow Nevyn for about half an hour, she seems so intent upon what she's doing that following her without being seen is easy.
Eventually, in a shadowed clearing, Nevyn comes to a halt, breathing hard. You look around the clearing: there's a firepit, some long logs to sit on and what looks like a large bivouac across the clearing: easily large enough to fit a dozen of your classmates in.“Is this where you go camping?” whispers Ami, the two of you are huddled up behind a tree, watching what Nevyns doing.“Never been here before” you tell her “must be Nevyns private getaway, huh, I wonder how long she's had it and w-” you go silent as Nevyn starts whistling loudly, and starts removing her heavy winter clothing.“What the-” asks Ami, you shush her frantically, watching the scene unfolding before your eyes.Nevyn continues whistling, and you hear the coughing roar of some animal. Whilst you're still trying to figure out what Nevyn is doing a pack of displacer-beasts burst into the clearing. You feel Ami go tense at your side and you slip an arm around her and whisper “it's ok, those are her pets.”Even as you're reassuring your new friend the five displacer-beasts slam into Nevyn, knocking her to the ground, one licking her face enthusiastically, and others mock biting at her clothes, pulling at them.“Wait, wait!” protests Nevyn “I've told you not to do that!” She quickly removes all her clothes as the two of you watch and then transforms into her displacer-beast form and sets off running from the clearing, the others chasing after her.Once they're gone Ami asks you carefully “Uh, what was that all about?”“That was Nevyn” you answer, then add is a smug voice “she's not supposed to have her pets out without permission, she's going to get in big trouble” you wonder how you can make this work for you. You wonder why she took her clothes off when they kinda fade into her when she transforms, hmmm, maybe she can still feel them on in her other form and wants to run free and feel the wind in her hair, who would have thought it, quiet little Nevyn...
You wait awhile and then Ami asks “should we go back now?”“Not yet” you say “I want to see what Nevyns up to...”“It's pretty cold out here”she points out.You turn to Ami, lean in and say invitingly “Well I can think of a few ways to keep you warm if you like...”XXXAn hour later Nevyn and her little pack are back, Nevyn dragging a dead deer with her. You watch as Nevyn and her pack tear into it, devouring it before your eyes. Nevyn seems to have no problem eating her foot raw, ripping her meal apart and gulping it down.Once they've eaten their fill the pack and Nevyn all slump down atop one another, dozing fitfully, for about ten minutes. Then Nevyn transforms slowly back into her naked humanoid form and crawls over to where her clothes are. As she does so, one of the displacer-beasts sneezes, then bites the ear of one of its packmates. The bitten displacer-beast yowls in protest and twists around, batting at the other one with a paw. The other three displacer-beasts raise their heads and join in as the two start scrapping.Nevyn turns to then, her panties in her hands and admonishes them “Behave you brutes!” she says “if you can't control yourselves then you'll be kept in those cages for-”A wildly flailing tentacle slaps her across the face and Nevyn dives at the rolling ball of fur and claws yelling in a voice mixing annoyance and anticipation “Oh now you're getting it!”Nevyn slams into the brawling displacer-beasts and is soon drawn into their free-for-all play battle and disappears under heaving furry bodies. The tussle lasts the best part of an hour and you only occasionally get to see patches of Nevyn's pink flesh as she spends most of the fight on the bottom of the pile, completely obscured. The frantic growling, snarling and coughing roar make you worry that Nevyn is getting hurt, but her enthusiastic and wordless cries of battle indicate she's enjoying this just as much as they are.
Eventually the heaving and growling ceases, replaced by heavy breathing and contented sighs. You see a pink arm thrust itself out of the pile of animal bodies around ground level and Nevyn slowly pulls herself free, shining with sweat, panting and with a goofy grin on her face. Well, someone clearly enjoyed herself...Nevyn lays on the ground, her bottom half still concealed and her chest heaving. Scratches and the occasional shallow bite are visible on on her back and shoulders. Eventually Nevyn gets her breath back and looks around with heavy-lidded eyes and a satisfied expression. As she does so one of the displacer-beasts positions it's body above hers, one paw either side of her head and starts licking at the back on her neck, nuzzling her and purring.“Enough, enough” Nevyn protests, turning to face the creature, which continues to nuzzle her and lick at her face.“Into the shelter” Nevyn directs them all “It's cold out here, and I don't want to go back yet”The displacer-beasts don't seem to want to move, but when Nevyn gathers her clothes up and crawls into the bivouac they follow her in. You hear loud purring followed by a protesting voice say “no more, I'm too tired...”At your side, wrapped in in a makeshift cloak made from, well, you, Ami whispers to you “Does this sort of thing happen a lot at Egwen?” Her expression is...thoughtful, but not scared at what she just saw.“No” you say, “But some really strange stuff does happen sometimes.”“Like animal girls sneaking off to fight with their pets?” Asks Ami in a teasing voice. You snigger “Ok, that's pretty strange” you say “but not the strangest.”“Really?” Ami turns to look at you, “what is?”“I'll tell you all about the Succubus Incident later” you promise “for now...”

>>44425698>Tell her it's time to go back, but keep her secretNot like Chame benefits from getting one of her few remaining friends into trouble.
>>44425824Are the two of them friends? The only one we know for sure is Phaysis.

>>44425951>the mini-quest Wasn't that before the whole incident?
>>44425979Yes?Well, we will find out, sooner or later, who are still re friends with Chame.
“Stay here” you tell Ami, as you stand up and walk quietly forwards.“Where are you going?” she whispers after you, staying behind the tree.“Nevyn can't sleep out here” you whisper back, “someone will notice she's not in her own bed and then people will start searching for her.”You stop just outside the entrance to Nevyns den and call inside “Nevyn? Nevyn?!”Several growls answer you, and a pair of displacer-beast heads emerge from the darkness. You stand your ground, unafraid, but ready to change shape into something inedible if they attack. “Don't even think about it” you warn then, calling again “Nevyn!”The growls grow louder and then Nevyn's voice can be heard, and her pets go quiet.“Who's there?” she asks from within the darkness.“It's me, Chame” you answer. There's a pause.“Well?” she says.“Well what?” you ask“What do you want?” she snaps.“You can't stay out” you say “people will know you're gone and come looking for you, I mean really, what were you thinking?”Another pause.“Fine” she says, and then there are some grunts and small yowls as Nevyn emerges from the shelter, still naked. She doesn't seem bothered by her nudity, she just glares at you.“And?” she demands “are you going to tell? Or do you want something in return for keeping quiet?”You start to give a sadistic grin, then quell the impulse “Neither” you say “I'll keep your secret for free.”Nevyn looks at you suspiciously “Why?”You wonder how to explain? Ami is watching and you want to get into her good books, maybe everyone hating you has made you re-evaluate your actions, you heard Phaysis threw away the token that indicates the other students dislike you, that what you just saw indicates Nevyn is changing, maybe even into something stranger than you and that you wouldn't want her picked on because of that, all of these reasons flash through your mind.“It's All-Gods Solstice” you say, shrugging “Consider it a gift.”XXX
You're beginning to regret that now.“-stupid, irresponsible behaviour” says Professor Sallazar, walking up and down in front of you three, having caught you as you tried to sneak back into the school “Chame I expect this from, but Nevyn you disappoint me, falling for Chame's little plan to have you terrify a new student by pretending to be a wild monster.”You figured better to give the Professor some sort of story, rather than let him figure it out on his own.He turns to Ami, who looks a little pale “Ms Heavensgift” he says formally “please accept my apologies, and my assurances that both of these girls, particularly Chame, will be punished.” You quail a little, but not much, you've been punished before.“Now!” he says, glaring at all of you “Bed, and I don't want any of you sneaking through the halls trying to catch Saint Kiodas the Giftbringer.”You resist the urge to laugh, Everyone knows its actually the adults bringing the gifts, but...you could certainly look like the Giftbringer if you wanted too...The Professor dismisses you all. You really should go back to your own room to sleep, but do you?>Yes, just go to sleep >Stalk the halls pretending to be Saint Kiodas >Sneak into someone else's bed (who?)>Other (?)

Telling off or not, you've wanted to do this all year, you even prepared some extra gifts just in case. You wait very quietly in bed until all of your room mates are breathing deeply and evenly, sound asleep. You slip quietly out of bed and pull out the drawer under your bed, gathering wrapped up tny gifts: some candies and fruits, little cheap things you picked up here and there, and then you sneak out, changing into a partly bearded man wearing a long robe, and a cloak with the symbols of the gods adorning it, and a massive furry hat. Then you start to patrol the corridors.Your first encounter is with Janrael, who is out out of her room heading for the water closet, wearing a night dress and a dressing gown. You try sneaking up on her but she spins around at the last minute, a glow appearing around her in the darkness.“Who...?” She asks.“Why, Saint Kiodas the Giftbringer of course” you answer gravely “Don't you recognise me young lady?”The corner of Janraels mouth twitches as if she's trying not to smile, rats, rumbled already?Well, even if she knows its you, she plays along “Of course” she agrees “Who else could it be on such a night?”“Ho ho ho” you chuckle, then ask teasingly “have you been a nice girl this year? Or naughty?”Janrael puts her hands together and looks down contritely “No, I've been naughty, very naughty” she says “I fear I must receive the traditional willow rod instead of gifts”Ok, that almost makes you lose it, but you're not about to be outdone by miss-pure-angel-with-a-hidden-beating-fetish.“Well then for your honesty” you say magnanimously “you deserve something” and you reach into the large sack on your back and draw forth a gift, feels like a handful of candies.Janrael takes the gift from you and says in a pious manner “Thank you Saint Kiodas for taking pity on a poor sinner such as myself.”
You can't let her get the last word in though “Of course you still need to be punished for your sins” you rumble “varied and licentious as I am sure they are. I charge you to see your teacher and request he paddle you until you can no longer sit comfortably.” You give her a mock glare.Janrael cracks up giggling “Go to bed Chame” she says “or at least get out of my way before I wet myself” she hurries on to the water closets. You continue to stalk the halls, next you encounter Safire, heading back to her bed with a glass of water in her hand. She lets out a gasp when she sees you, her jewelled eyes going wide as she says in a voice of awe “S-Saint Kiodas...?”Really you thought she'd be old enough to know the truth, but maybe no one has had the heart to tell her? You hear she had a rough time before the school.“That's right young lady” you rumble in your gravelly voice “Have you been nice? Or naughty?”Safire blurts out “nice! Er, when I can, most of the time, at least half the time anyway, and I've always tried to be nice...I think.”You haven't the heart to spoil this, you stay in-character “Well I nice girl deserves a present” you say, handing her a wrapped package that feels like the angry-looking cloth doll that reminded you a little of Kittrane. “Now back to bed” you say “I have many other children to visit.”Safire nods, but just stands and watches as you waddle down the hallway. The rest of your nocturnal encounters fall somewhere between those two: only a few seem genuinely to believe, but most play along. You don't encounter any adults, except for one of the brown-cloaked servants who tries to hide away from you and doesn't move until you're well passed him, huh that was weird.Eventually you go back to bed and sleep for the rest of the night. The next morning all the girls in your room are excitedly tearing into the small gifts in their stockings hung by the fire – the real gift opening is after breakfast.
You get dressed and head down to see a buffet-style breakfast laid out, with students sitting together in small groups, or pairs, huh, you're earlier down than most, despite sleeping less. You can see no sign or Ami yet.The warm feeling you got from giving a gift to Safire last night has given you a crazy idea. If breaking girls up got you in trouble last time, maybe getting them together will help. Kittrane and Phoebe maybe? Or Janrael and that young eager paladin, Edward or whatever his name was.Are you ready to do a little match-making?>No, bad idea>Yes (which couple?)Write-in any couple you want based on what you've seen. >>44427317I'm curious as to how you plan to ship Calluna with anyone given how oblivious she can be about that kind of thing.
ok, back and trying to figure out who you're trying to bring together
>>44427359That's the challenge, I guess?
>>44427359She's a vampire with pleasent bites, tentacles and no idea of the connotations nof putting those into weird places all over people. Its almost too easy.
ok, looks like the two big athletic girls win, now, how to get them together I wonder...writing.
>>44427441Aside from that being kind of a dick move, I doubt Nataline is that easy. Being capable of romance and having a desire to do so is probably necessary. So, realistically, shipping Calluna is more "teach Calluna how2romance."
>>44427572>I doubt Nataline is that easyYou wouldn't believe how hard it is to find other demi-gods to date nowadays.Sometimes standards have to be lowered a bit.
>>44427572Nataline probably has vivid memories of centuries of romance and sex. She probably has the healthiest sex life in the quest. That is, she probably has one.
>>44427634>Nataline probably has vivid memories of centuries of romance and sex.Zjere is no reason for her to have anything like that. Also we know several of the girls do have a sex life. Nataline is incidentally not one of them as far as we know.
>>44427634We've seen pretty much nothing indicating that that's the case or that her memories are that strong.
>>44427634>Nataline probably has vivid memories of centuries of romance and sex. She probably has the healthiest sex life in the quest. She doesn't. No idea where you even get that idea, she isn't anymore likely to have those than the hundreds of succubus soulborn in the school.Actually far less.
>>44427676>>44427681I might have misinterpreted the scenes where her soulbond status came up, sorry.
>>44427572>shipping Calluna is more "teach Calluna how2romance."More likely its "teach Calluna what romance is".
>>44427634Lucinda wouldn't be having as much difficulty as she is getting in Nataline's pants if she was willing to fuck without romance. Calluna doesn't currently have the capability to romance.
>>44427758>Calluna doesn't currently have the capability to romance.Nothing indicates she lacks the capability.
>>44427758Maybe Naaline just isn't into succubi, or Luci is actually bad at flirting. Assumptions aren't going to take this talk anywhere.
>>44427794Everything she's said or done that's tangentially related to the matter, her default state usually being weird and oblivious to normal behavior, the fact that she's interpreting Ichor's suggestions as acquiring pets and friends.
>>44427846>the fact that she's interpreting Ichor's suggestions as acquiring pets and friends>implying thats not what Ichor meansShe's just trying to be a good grandma. Don't stereotype anon!
>>44427837The post I replied to was an assumption and then more assumptions based on that first assumption. Bias doesn't contribute either.
>>44427794Why would it be the one thing she gets?
>>44427846>she's interpreting Ichor's suggestions as acquiring pets and friendsTo be fair, thats exactly how her mother played Ichors suggestions most of the time too.So its not like its a implausible interpretation.Might even be Ichor means exactly that because she figures she isn't gonna get any further with that other stuff with Calluna than she got with her mom.
>>44427916Honestly Callunas ability to get things has been wildly inconsistent based on rule of funny.Calluna isn't really oblivious to most normal things, she grew up on this plane. too.She just doesn't get natural laws and shit like that differs from Shees reality. I doubt romance and love is among those things.
>>44427918>she isn't gonna get any further with that other stuff with Calluna than she got with her mom.So...getting her in a relationship with someone able to bear extremely large numbers of children within three months of starting to talk to her, getting said waifu to be her worshiper, her mom deciding to get married to her waifu, the waifu being granted a seed of divinity and accidental pregnancy?
>>44427946None of that was Ichors doing, in fact if Shee had listened to ichor none of that would have ever happened.
>>44427962Ichor learned to take a more distant approach, that's all.
>>44427946Sort of missing the point there. He obviously meant how Shee didn't go for Ichors propositions for harem making, which is what Ichor wanted from Shee.
>>44427985Until Ichor realized that Rainya was already a harem and then just started shipping that harder.
>>44427981More like she cut her losses and figured one waifu is good enough for her purposes.>>44427946The idea was more that Shee takes most of her Ichor favour from making a family out of her friends rather than fucking around a lot. So Ichor might figure steering into that direction from the start is more fruitful than wasting time like with Shee.
>>44428005Until ichor realised Shee won't cheat on Rainya and has pesky monogamous tendencies.
>>44428028Those realizations aren't mutually exclusive."Well, she's doesn't want it and her waifu is superior to a harem of literally hundreds for all intents and purposes I care about, so why am I still trying to coerce her into going for a harem instead of just reinforcing that relationship?"
>>44427916Family is one of mums aspects. I know that doesn't mean she would get it. The one thing we do know is that she knows what mating is because she used that word when asked to split up one of the club members and a boy.
Kittrane and Phoebe have been dancing around each other for far too long. Or rather from what you've seen Kittrane is too antisocial to spell it out, and Syphoebeus is too oblivious to anything but an outright declaration of love. Those two are only honest about their feelings when fighting...wait, that's it!A plan starts to form in your head...After breakfast you introduce Safire to Ami and ask the little gem to take your new friend to the library. Safire is more than willing to do so, holding her new dolly under her arm that she has called “Princess Hellfire”, you're glad you're not the only one who thinks that thing looks like Kittrane. Ami heads off with Safire, but shoots you a suspicious look.Sometime later you encounter Kittrane, wearing a festive party hat, no doubt at the request of Safire, and scowling about it.“Looking festive” you say as you pass her in the corridor, only the two of you around. To avoid her opinion of you getting in the way you currently appear to be Evrumine.“Get belled cowgirl!” Kittrane snarls at you in response. You refuse to rise to the insult, that's not why you're here.“'Ow nice” you say, exaggerating Evys accent, the way she does when annoyed “I came to tell you somezing, and zis is 'ow you repay me?”Kittrane stops, swings around and glares at you “What?” she demands, her hands twitching a bit.“I 'erd” you say “ze boy who grabbed Phoebe's ah-” you gesture at your chest, Kittranes scowl deepens “zome of 'iz friends are taking iz present up to iz room, and they are planning on getting at Phoebe again, something about spiking her drink at ze feast and getting her drunk” you shrug “after that, who knows? I did not hear the full plan.”“What?” says Kittrane, going still.“They are up zere now” you say “I was going to get a teacher, just in case, but maybe you could go listen? See if it iz just talk yes?”
Kittrane sets off at a dead run. Ok, the room door is locked, that should slow her down just long enough to...You know Syphoebeus is on her way to her room to put some of her presents away. She looks a bit bemused as what seems to be Tisania runs up to her, frantic with worry and talking quickly.“Phoebe! Phoebe!” you say “I just saw Kittrane: she's on the way to that boys room, Rasmuth or whatever his name is and she looked really mad! I think she's going to hurt him!”Phoebe curses, thrusts her presents at you and sets off at a dead run, yelling “get a teacher!”XXXYou follow her and wait around the corner from the boys room, hearing Kittrane pounding it to splinters even as Syphoebeus rushes up. You can't see what's going on, only hear.“What're you doing?” Phoebe yells, the banging on the door ceases.“I'm giving them what they deserve!” yells Kittrane. There's footsteps and the sound of a scuffle then Phoebe yelling “calm down, just, dammit Kitt, what's wrong with you!?”“Nothing!” yells Kittrane “Ask what's wrong with them! Not me!””“Them who?” asks Phoebe, clearly baffled. You hear grunting, followed by the sound of someone being slammed into a wall.“Anyone would think it was your bra they tried to pull off” says Phoebe in a joking tone, clearly trying to calm the situation down “not mine, why're you so angry?”“Let go!” bellows Kittrane“No” says Phoebe “not until you explain, what's got you so mad?”More grunting.“That won't work” Phoebe warns “and if you try to burn me, I'll shock you into next week, now, why are you so angry?”“Because it was your bra he grabbed!” yells Kittrane.“Uh, what?” says Phoebe, sounding confused.“I'm going to smash his head in because it was you he insulted!” Kittrane continues “anyone one else and I'd have let it go, but not you, ok, happy now, happy that I've said it?”Silence.“Said...what?” Says Syphoebeus. Dear gods are you going to have to draw this girl a picture?
Kittrane starts to laugh, a choking, bitter sound.“Are you ok?” says Syphoebeus, sounding truly confused.“No I'm not” says Kittrane, sounding like she might continue laughing, or start crying “the girl I like doesn't even acknowledge me.”“But who-” Starts Syphoebeus, then stops, before saying “Oh, oh!”Silence.“Um, I guess we should talk...?” Ventures Phoebe.“Don't even bother!” snaps Kittrane, then you hear footsteps coming your way, you quickly shrink and scurry up to the ceiling, watching a Kittrane with tears in her eyes run beneath you. A few minutes later Phoebe walks under you too, looking confused and worried.Ugh, ok, not the greatest outcome, but at least it's out in the open now. Maybe they'll work it out themselves?XXXYou steer clear of both of them after lunch, and instead stick close to Ami, listening to her chatter on about the library, and try to sound interested in the books she's seen. After you've all eaten the Headmaster announces that this afternoon you'll all be participating in a game that takes place throughout the entire school complex.
“The rules are fairly simple” explains the Headmaster “You all like scary stories, well now you're in one! Some of you will be the monsters, and some the scared townsfolk. All of the townsfolk will be given sashes – representing their continued existence. If a monster catches you, give up your sash and return to the main hall for a new one. Monsters get points for sashes collected, townsfolk get points for food and equipment stashes they find. Now” he adds sternly “no fighting! Monsters always beat townsfolk unless they have found one of a few monster-slaying wands – which have one use each. This is a stealth game, not open warfare. Throughout the school teachers will set objectives and optional rules limited to certain areas. Monsters” he looks out over the student body, made mostly of normal humans, a few elves, a couple of dwarves, a halfling....and the Egwen student body “will be selected by token taken from a hat. Any questions?”When the questions are over, you shuffle forwards in a long line and take a red token out of a hat – you're one of the monsters, though Ami is not. You and your fellow monsters will leave the hall first, to set up ambushes and find hiding places. You grin, this has the potential to be a lot of fun. And from the chatter, some of the more martially-inclined students won't be taken quietly by the monsters. What monster will you pretend to be?>A mimic (treasure chest time)>Succubus>Dragon>Other(?)Who will you be going after? >>44428815Yep, it's tied.
You might as well play to your strengths, whilst letting the others have a chance at least. Sure, pretending to be a treasure chest is a bit cliché, but that's the point – those that get it will be cautious, and those that don't will rush right in.You rush off to one of the treasure-heavy areas and prepare your form: on the outside a treasure chest, on the inside a giant maw with huge scary (but too soft to harm anyone) teeth and a long flexible tongue split into a dozen tendrils that can snare the unwary and drag them into your monstrous maw.At times like this you recall how your father- no, no, this is just a game, nothing bad is going to happen. You settle into an area and wait, your dozens of small feet propelling you around your chosen hunting grounds, ready to retract at a moments notice and pretend to be nothing more than an ordinary chest. You feel like scaring anyone you encounter, but you are ready to lay it on thick if you see Evrumine – she'll appreciate the joke more after all. You're not waiting long before your first victims approach – the trio of talkative girls you say a day or so ago, approaching cautiously and talking about finding one of the monster-slaying wands...you obligingly create a copy in your chest-body and wait calmly and patiently as one of them tries to inexpertly pick your lock. It tickles.Eventually you take pity on them and your lid springs open and they all look pretty triumphant when they see the wand in the bottom, one of them reaching inside to grab it, the other two close by.The time is now!Your teeth appear and your tentacle-tongue lashes out, snaring all three and dragging them headfirst inside you as you expand your body just enough to contain all three, making chewing sounds as you 'devour' them. They thrash and scream in your grip, and you spit them out when one starts to scream. They all scurry back away from you as your massive mouth grins and you say “sashes please!”
You are called a lot of names, but the sashes are thrown your way.The rest of the game goes pretty much the same way – most of the participants are too eager to grab treasure to worry if you're a monster. A few do however – the young Paladin, Edhiem wisely pokes you with a long pole from a distance, and even when he gets close enough to grab, he dodges your darting tongues and escapes.Eventually you hear Evrumines voice, sounds like she's leading a small party of students, using her experience as a club member.“And this could be a pit trap” she explains “this is also an ideal ambush site.” She comes around the corner, leading three other students: a girl and two boys, all looking a year or so younger than her. When they catch sight of you one of the boys heads forwards saying “I bet there is an extra sash in that chest!” Evrumine grabs the back of his shirt and pulls him back “Non!” she exclaims “it could be trapped!”You are poked with a pole, as is the ground in front of you, as Evrumine cautiously comes forwards.Eventually she comes close enough to grab and your jaws spring open, but instead of your long tongue, it's a humanoid torso that emerges, looking like your typical appearance but wearing just enough to maintain a minimum standard of decency.“Surprise!” you yell, hugging Evrumine tight and trying to drag her forwards, even as her allies scramble back.“Chame!” Evrumine astutely identifies you, and then braces herself and tries to pull you forwards, her strength far greater than yours. You spring forwards, your chest body engulfing her, the two of you still wrestling inside your body as outside her allies flee.Neither of you can get the upper hand: within your ever-shifting body Evrumine has no leverage, but your strength is no match for hers.Eventually you both pause, breathing heavily, still gripping each other tightly.“You know, by the rules” you say conversationally “you owe me your sash.”
“By the rules?” Retorts Evrumine “since when do you care about the rules?”“When they're in my favour” you reply, smirking.Evrumine smirks back “You want my sash?” she says challengingly “unsash me – if you can!”“What's that?” you say “undress you if I can? Challenge accepted!”“Chame, what're you doing, Chame!” bellows Evrumine.XXXYou score second place on sashes – just behind Janrael, who picked a side hall to roost in, swooping down from the rafters to tag entire groups. You're not mad though, you had plenty of fun that afternoon.Just before the feast is served, and you're helping tidy away, you hear Ami's voice, she sounds on the verge of tears.“I wasn't claiming to be the best!” she half-yells from around the corner. You grow and eyeball on a finger and stick it around the corner. You see Ami surrounded by a small group of students, both boys and girls, and taunting her is the asshole from Faith and Steel, Ansric“Best?” he says disbelievingly “you're so far from the best you couldn't see it with a telescope doorstepper” he uses a common epithet for foundlings “with you in our group we might as well just have given up, you got caught what, six times?”“Five!” she insists, tears starting to roll down her cheeks as the other students make mock-crying noises. “I tried really hard!” she insists “but I've never done anything like this before!”“That much” says Ansric “is obvious” his voice dripping with contempt. He turns to go, his hangers-on following him.Ami says to his back “but I only died 2 times less than the big tough dungeoneer.”They all turn and look at Ami.“What?” says Ansric, glaring at her.“You talk like you're a big shot!” says Ami, her face screwed up in anger “but I spoke to some of the Egwen girls today, your team Faith and Steel is a joke! You got taken out so easily by them the first time they-”The back of Ansric's fist hits her face and she spins almost all the way around before falling down.
“You're trash” Ansric says, looking down on her “and you won't speak to me that way” He draws back his boot, standing over her, ready to kick her. What do you do?>Leave to get a teacher>Yell at them to stop>Attack them>Pretend to be someone else (who?)>Other (?)

>>44429987>Losing isn't heroic. You need to read better fiction.

>>44430096They don't. They're full of prejudiced ideas about the soulborn, and don't know their true powers. There could very well be someone in the school with access to an actual Giant Monster Form of Doom and Despair who is well behaved enough to not show up in the story.
>>44430125Almost everything described as "heroic" has never been a victory. You need to stop digging a hole for yourself.

>>44430179>full retardSure if I'm retarded you're an autistic twat. See? Everyone call can each other names, doesn't mean I'm wrong.
>>44430133>They don't. They're full of prejudiced ideas about the soulborn, and don't know their true powers. That completly wrong, soulborn are not particularly mysterious to well-educated youths like them.General information about them is widely available, they aren't even that rare.
>>44430179Dying for someone else to live is just about the most heroic thing one can do, and generally I wouldn't consider dying to be a win.
>>44430208You just claimed there heroic victory is rare in fiction. No, you are just retarded.
>>44430208You are wrong though.
>>44430179>They actually do, its commonly taught, we even went to a museum about it.You mean that museum full of lies and inaccuracies?>Soulbonr are a commonly known and well-researche subject. So clearly the exact capabilities of every soulborn is part of that common knowledge, and there's no type of soulborn that could exist in a school full of soulborn that could have such a form, and they'll be coherent enough to bring that knowledge to the fore and cycle through every possible soulborn this could be when a giant fucking monster is charging them. Right.Seriously man, you're going to hit bedrock.
>>44430210>>44430179We got a crit success, does it matter at this point that they know what soulborn are?
>>44430222>and generally I wouldn't consider dying to be a winClearly the person who considered the other persons survival more important disagrees with you, for them saving that other person was the point, if their sacrifice accomploshed that, then they won.
>>44430245Yeah, and if they knew, there's basically too scared by the form to remember right now.
We are winning ingame, why are we arguing?
>>44430222>Dying for someone else to live is just about the most heroic thing one can do, and generally I wouldn't consider dying to be a win.Winning is just accomplishing your objectives, if you die for someone else, thats still winning.>>44430241>that could have such a formSure they can, but they know its extremly unlikely for a shapeshifter to have a real different form rather than being one of the dozens of succubi or Chame who fake it.
>>44430232>>44430238Maybe I should be more specific, in fiction heroism is usually winning against all odds, overthrowing the bad guy etc. In history, as in real life, heroism is usually described as a sacrifice of your life for a cause. In this case what Chame is doing is considered heroic by doing something "noble".
>>44430285Anons always complain when they don't get what they want, or it interferes with their personal view.
>>44430253Okay, so by that measure even if we're about to lose to these guys, we're going to win.... Right, makes perfect sense, good job.
>>44430308The succubi powerful enough to shapeshift to this degree are also something you want to be afraid of.
>>44430325>Okay, so by that measure even if we're about to lose to these guys, we're going to winIf getting the shit beaten out of you was your objective, then yes.
>>44430325But we are winning, we got a critical success. You faggots, stop shitposting.
>>44430285Autists, arguing about heroism and some other argument about soulborn. Honestly it doesn't matter and we're probably doing it to pass the time. At least I am at any-rate
>>44430349Exactly! We are winning, so I don't know why these autists are complaining about the fact that we're trying to do something heroic, and actually doing it.
>>44430325The goal was to protect Ami. We have DR and she doesn't. I would consider just redirecting their attacks to us to be a victory. Heroism isn't always what's logical.
You can't take them on all by yourself, if you go out there you will just get beaten on, as tough as you are you could probably take it but...you don't need to go out there as yourself.Ansric turns, his foot drawn back to kick Ami as your unnatural bellow fills the corridor, followed shortly by your twisted, writhing form. You are an ever-changing inchoate mass, incorporating pieces of every monster you've heard of and some that only exist in nightmares or from Callunas childhood recollections. As a beast of living horror and despair you ooze your way down the corridor.Ansric's followers take one look at you and flee, Ansric himself stands his ground for a few moments, before likewise turning tail and running. Ami herself freezes, but recovers quickly after you assume your more familiar form once the others have fled. You reach down to pull her up “Are you ok?” you ask her.Ami nods “That was...” she searches for the right word “Terrifying.”You grin “Wasn't sure it'd work” you say “I don't get stronger in other shapes – had they stayed to fight we'd both be on the floor getting kicked” Or at least you would – your back-up plan involved wrapping Ami up in a cocoon of you.“Well” says Ami, drying her face on her sleeve “I'm glad they didn't seem to know that.”“Me too” you say as the two of you head to change for dinner then to the great hall for the feast, you'll tell the Professor about this after you've eaten.“That was really brave” says Ami, as you head to the feast. You shrug and say modestly “all I did was scare them off”.“But you didn't know they'd run” counters Ami “and you came to help anyway” She links her arm through yours, “Thank you.”Maybe today will have a happy ending after all...XXX
“I can't decide!” wails Nataline, looking back and forth between two pieces of music. She's due to sing a song now that the prayers and observances are over and kick off the evening ball that everyone is all dressed up for. She has as beautiful voice and volunteered for this, but now seems to be suffering from stage fright. You came back stage to tell her that the Headmaster will finish his speech in a few minutes, and she can't decide what to sing.“What are the choices?” you ask her.“O'er Mountains My Faith Shines” says Nataline, showing you the lyrics. You know this one, it's about faith and duty and nobility – all good stirring stuff, but a bit stuffy.“And Here is Home Again” Nataline adds, giving you the second piece. A nostalgic song of home and family that will bring tears to the eyes and have the audience hugging each other if Nataline sings it.“Neither of these are exactly party songs” you say “who chose them?”“The headmaster” says Nataline, glancing back and forth indecisively. sad song of home it is, writing
>>44430866>sad song of home>no one has a home anymoreI think this was a mistake.
“Here is Home Again” you say to Nataline, hey, anything that gets people together can't be bad right?Nataline chews her lip in a way that would be dangerous if any one with a weak heart was around and then nods “Ok” she doesn't sound too confident.“You'll do fine” you reassure her “I've never heard you put a single note out of place”.Nataline gives you a weak smile “Thanks” she says.XXXNatalines singing lives up to your expectations: her voice tugs at the hearts of everyone who can hear her and you see many of them standing there with their eyes closed, lost in memories of their home, or just of happier times. You see the Headmaster stood still, his head bowed, lost in thought. You see Professor Sallazar with his face screwed up as if in pain, his fists clenching and unclenching. Maybe his home life wasn't the best? For most of the others though their faces look peaceful and you see people standing around hugging each other and murmuring things like “yeah, that's how it should be”.After the sound of Natalines singing has faded, and the audience seems to have recovered, the minstrels in the corner strike up a livelier, happier tune and everyone...stands around the dance floor looking warily at one another, no one wanting to be the first to make a move.Thunder Drum stomps onto the dance floor and strikes what he probably thinks is a dance pose “Allow me to educate you all in the correct bodily motions to music” he grinds out, and then starts the dorkiest dance imaginable. The whole crowd starts roaring with laughter and the tension is broken, couples start heading onto the dance floor and you offer Ami your arm, and the two of you head out to dance. XXXThe livelier music gives way to a slower more intimate piece and many of the couples sit down to rest, you and Ami keep dancing however, talking quietly, your bodies close to one another.
Suddenly Ami's eyes widen and you turn your head to see one of the visiting Teachers, a Priest called Ottoswith, standing next to Professor Sallazar. Ottoswith looks furious and the Professor doesn't look happy either.“We need you to come with us Chame” says Professor Sallazar.Oh what now?XXX“But I didn't do it!” you protest. You're far from the ball, in a small classroom with Professor Sallazar and Priest Ottoswith, just the three of you.“We have two tearful girls who swear you did” says Ottoswith triumphantly, as if that solves the matter, “And my own acolyte Ansric confirms he say you gloating to the Heavensgift girl that you could break up any couple in hours simply by pretending to be one of them.”“But Professor!” you protest “I told you what happened: they attacked Ami and I scared them off, I didn't try to break up any couple.” Professor Sallazar goes to speak, but it cut off by Priest Ottoswith who says as if scoring a point “but she has done this sort of thing before, so her guilt is far more likely than some ridiculous fable about my own acolyte attacking a defenceless girl. You really treat these abominations with too much leeway – I have just the sort of spell to punish sinners” A chill goes through you as Professor Sallazar turns away, as if leaving you at the mercy of the priest, who blathers on “perhaps I really should-”“Keep your holier than thou opinionated stupidity to yourself!” snaps the Professor, having turned back, his face a mask of anger. Your heart leaps in your chest, the Professor wasn't abandoning you!Priest Ottoswith draws himself up to his full height, towering over the Professor “it was my students who were harmed by this...thing!” he gestures at you “I should be the one to punish her!”“Chame says she didn't do it” Professor Sallazar growls “you've said your piece, now leave – or else!”The two glare at one another, but Priest Ottoswith looks away first, striding out with a harrumph of disapproval.
The Professor watches him go silently. You say hesitantly “Professor I didn't do it.”“I know” he says, glancing at you “but that fat-hea- I mean, Priest Ottoswith clearly wants to believe his noble protege, and no doubt the rumour mill has been spreading the story too, both versions.”Yeah, you think glumly, and which one are they going to believe?XXXBack at the ball you are greeted with whispers and looks of contempt when you go back in. You see Ami surrounded by a group of girls from her school – girls who never seemed to have time for her before – all clustered around her talking. Ami is looking down, refusing to meet their gaze...or yours.Evrumine is exchanging angry words with a boy you recall being in Ansric's little gang, but Phoebe breaks it up before it gets too bad.The music plays but it sounds discordant to you as all around you is distrust and mockery. The taste of bile fills your mouth and you feel like you want to just sink into the floor and disappear. What do you do?>Just leave, there's nothing for you here>Talk to Ami, she knows the truth>Confront Ansric, he knows he's lying>Ask Lucinda for help, she can read minds>Other (?)

You head over to Ami, she can back up the truth after all. You are intercepted by three bitchy-looking girls, nearby is a group of boys, all are from Ami's school.“What are you here for?” asks one of the girls “gonna break up another pair?”You focus on her and say in a pleasant tone “I wouldn't go near a plague-ridden midden heap like you for all the gold in Lysva.”Her face screws up and she draws breath to reply, you ignore her and say to Ami “Ami, c'mon, you know the truth – tell them!”“I'm talking to you, you freak!” shrills the girl in front of you, you ignore her as she continues bitching at you.“Ami?” you say, somewhat pleadingly this time.Ami looks away whispering something you can't hear, but her lips seems to be forming the word “sorry”.You think you understand – today the two of your are friends, but in a few days she goes back to her own school...and she has to live with these girls. You turn and go, walking out of the great hall, looking for a place to be alone.XXXYou don't know how long it's been, hours maybe. You've cried every tear you have to cry, you've fantasised about breaking every bone in their worthless bodies, about running away with Ami and about being the very monster they fear you to be: a faceless thing with no conscience that walks among them turning their every positive relationship to ash and dust. And now, now you're just tired. You crawl out of your little cubby hole deep within the school and begin the long walk back to your own dorm.In the dark corridors you can almost imagine you can hear Ami calling for your help again.
Wait...you can hear her calling for help again! Adrenaline washes your fatigue away and you race through corridors and classrooms until you find a pair of the brown cloaked servants you've been seeing everywhere these past few days. They are both older men, one has Ami's arms pinned behind her as the other as the other taunts her by slicing at her clothes with a sharp dagger, leaving her flesh untouched, but slowly undressing her.“Help!” Ami wails as you appear. Both men turn to face you.“We are in luck tonight” one chortles“Let her go, right now!” you snarl, blades growing from your fingers“Wait!” the one holding Ami says to his companion “that's one them soulborn freaks, you don't want her.”“That's right” you say, your mouth widening and filling with teeth “you really don't.”“That's far enough” says the one holding Ami, likely the leader of the pair. He shifts his grip and produces his own knife, poking the tip into her side but not drawing blood, yet.“Chame!” says Ami urgently “They're planting some sort of spells that-” The one closer to you turn and backhands her in a manner so similar to Ansric that you almost jump him then and there.“Shut up” he says to her, as she shakes her head, trying to clear it.“This is what's going to happen” says the leader, holding Ami “you're both going to drink a little potion that will wipe the last half hour of your memory, and we'll let you live, sound fair?”The other one doesn't look so confident “Uh she's a freak though” he says, looking back at his companion “will the potion work on her?”The first one shrugs in response. The closer one continues “maybe we should just kill her boss?”
“No bodies!” snaps out the first one “we can't risk it, fortunately Gurtax thinks of everything” he grins nastily and explains “Now your little friend” he shakes a still-woozy Ami “Is right, we're here planting a few spells, well objects with spells in 'em. Now I'm no finger-waggler but Gurtax has given us lots of these little bits of parchment and we rub them on the walls and the spells sink into the stones. Now your teachers have this whole place warded and protected but these spells will let Gurtax and those he trusts past those wards that they might come and go as they please see. He came to us and offered a lot of money if we'd do this whilst we was cooking and cleaning up after you ungrateful brats – and he got us a few tricks like the potions, but in case loss of memory would just lead to more questions he gave us some scrolls that bind folks tongues.”You listen to him blather as you try to find an opening.“Now yon memory potion might not affect your, but I bet a spell will” he continues “so here it is: you swear an oath never to reveal to anyone what happened here, you little friend takes the potion, and we go out separate ways.”“And if I don't?” you say defiantly “I mean, you can't catch me if I run, I can be anything I want – down here in the darkness you'd never find me.”The bossy one nods in respect “Aye 'tis true, you could run, but Gurtax also thought we might be discovered – another spell to erase our work and he'll be patient and wait it out, pay other folk to start again another day – and your friend here gets her throat cut.”Ami gasps at that and comes around a bit...then steels herself and says calmly “Chame, don't do it.”
Your breath catches in your throat...and something must've shown on your face, because the boss man grins and says “now Moddy here” he nods to his friend “wanted a love potion as part of his up-front fee, what say you to this: we give your girl her a memory potion and a lovey one – she won't recall nowt and she'll be putty in yer hands – we both seen you two about you see and you swear to keep it a secret.”“And betray my friends?” you say incredulously.Moddy snorts “what friends? I saw you sloping outta that big fancy ball like kicked dog, none of them likes you – and if you wanna play hero down here none of them will ever know what you done – no evidence see? Little miss here comes with us until we're away and whatever story you tell won't be believed.”“Do the smart thing” says the bossy one “Do what's right by yerself lass.”Ami is trembling in fear, but looks at you with determination and shakes her head. What do you do?>Take the deal>Refuse>Other (?)Write-ins are allowed, but could have bad results if they go wrong
>>44432751>RefuseWelp, it was fun knowing you Ami, but you're a bitch, so good bye.
>>44432751>Take the deal, swear the oath using the words "I will say nothing about this.">>44432792Fuck off
>>44432751>Take the deal
>>44432751>Take the dealFuck the others, am i right?
>>44432751>RefuseI mean, I feel bad for her, but we can't risk the whole school for one person.
>>44432751>Other (?)>"You do know that if you kill her, it will be worse for you, right? What's stopping me from eating your souls?"
>>44432751Something along the lines of >>44432822
>>44432751>Take the deal>Nigga thinks he can mess with the Wards of a Abjuration grandmaster without it being noticed
>>44432751>Refuse>You see if you cut her throat, she leaves a corpse. She leaves a corpse the Headmaster can simply ask her what happened. He's a Necromancer, they can do that sort of stuff. So you're fucked regardless. The only way you can get away is to erase both of us. Of course if you sold out old Gurtax you'd be spared the wrath of the headmaster and Salazar, who scares the shit out of me when he gets upset. They will find you if she dies, and you're souls WILL be forfeit.
>>44432751>distract them while growing a tail/tentacle/something long enough to find someone nearby
>>44432855Ohh that's good too
We can just have Lucinda read the last few hours of our memory without specifying anything even with the default contract.
>>44432751>Take the deal>No love potionI would've liked a Y/N vote on allowing that or not.
>>44432751>Take the dealFor the oath, right?
Looks like you're taking the deal, but please check my count
10 minutes are up. Last vote in >>44432904
>>44432751>Take the deal>Kill her in front of them anywaySlut totally deserves it.
>>44432977The only actual problem that might result from this is that the effects of the love potion might not be possible to reverse.
>>44433090Better to have someone madly in love with us than have the school be invaded by bandits.
>>44433120The Wards are a work-on-progress, whatever they did right now is gonna be moot by the next time Sallazar adds more. If he doesn't outright notice someone meddled with his work. Which is pretty likely, some guy rubbing scrolls ona wall being able to fool a abjuration master seems absurdly implausible.
Professor Sallazar should be able to undo all oath and love spells if we can tip him off right?
>>44433191That's the hope, and considering we're a shifter if we swear not to say anything we can just make words appear on our skin to let him know, or have our mind read or something like that.
>>44433191Just go to Lucinde "You REALLY want to read my memory about the last few hours". Problem solved.
“I'll do it” you say quietly “I accept.”“Noooo!” Ami wails, they both ignore her, the bossy one saying “good lass, that's the right decision, now Moddy, get the potions....”“I had to Ami” you say to her, as her captor shifts his grip, taking firm hold of her jaw “I can't let them hurt you, you're too important to me” you stare into her eyes, trying to communicate the plan to her. You know the Professor will find out if someone screws with his wards, and there must a be an antidote or counterspell to the love potion. You just both need to survive this, and then you can fix everything else later. With Ami held firmly, Moddy uncorks a small glass vial. You all turn as you hear a cough from the darkness, and Professor Sallazar steps forth from whatever hiding place he was occupying.“I think that's enough to get both of you permanent positions” says the Professor coolly “as much as the Headmaster likes to run this place on a skeleton staff I think we can make room for one or two more – now if you cooperate and tell us everything you know about this 'Gurtax' maybe one of you will live long enough to see prison, but I can't guarantee that of course.”Moddy draws some sort of powder out of his pocket and throws it at the Professor, it bursts into flame mid-flight and he is engulfed in fire. When the fire has faded he is standing there unharmed, smiling slightly “That's your decision then” he says quietly, raising his staff....XXXOnce the two are subdued, and skeleton servants summoned to drag them away the Professor turns to the two of you “Ami are you ok?” he asks her, she nods saying “my head hurts a bit, but I'm ok.”“Good” he says “I'll have Sister Mary look at it just be sure, now Chame-”“I had a plan!” you blurt out “I was going to swear an oath with holes in it, or let Lucinda read my mind or-”
The Professor holds up a hand to silence you “It's fine” he says quietly, though his face is unreadable “I'm just glad you're ok, both of you. Now, let's get both of you to bed.”You grin and he adds in a mock scolding tone “your own, separate beds that is”.At your side Ami twitches and then blurts out “Can I comer to Egwen Sir?”Professor Sallazar looks taken aback “Why?” he asks.“Because Chame was willing to risk everything to protect me, she put my life above everything” Ami says, then stammers out “I-I-I think I love her.”The Professor looks thoughtful “It's not up to me” he says “but I'll discuss it with the Headmaster, that's all I can promise I'm afraid.”You just stand there stunned: love?
And that's it for now. Hopefully this quest was enjoyable and gave you the chance to see things from a different point of view.Chame has earned herself 4XP as a result of her actions this thread.Paladin of Joy will resume friday 15th Jan.
>>44433326the professor can still take an apprentice right? Or am I thinking of familiar.
>>44433360Familiar, and yes he can
>>44433370wait so is that a yes to both or just familiar?
>>44433343Thanks for running Pally, see you in january.
>>44433488well he can take apprentices, but they gain no special protections - familiars do.
>>44433343Thanks for running!
>>44433500I was thinking more about keeping Ami around then special protection
>>44433587I was thinking of having Sallazar start next EGS thread discussing it with the Headmaster and letting players decide if Ami was staying or not.
>>44433617Well, she said she wants to be a wizard and can't learn it where she is, that ought to score some points with Sallazar.
>>44433617Oh cool.I'll have forgotten all about this by then, but thanks for answering my questions pally
>>44433494>>44433521>>44433680you are most welcome
>>44433343Hold on, Pally can't shape shift. You must have been Chame all this time, it's the only answer that makes sense. Also remember if you're still going to use them the card suits are Wings, Gloves, Scrolls and Swords.Gloves can outwit Scrolls but Swords will catch them however Scrolls have knowledge that Swords need and Wings rule over all. House rules may apliy.Unless anyone thinks it should be some other way?
Apologies, I forgot to say, my fellow QM wanted me to ask if you were ok with another mini-quest when EGS returns in April.Your thoughts? He has ideas centred around several girls - this will be discussed in a later Paladin of Joy thread.
>>44433748I don't even remember what you're talking about.
>>44433810I'm ok with it.
>>44433817>>44433821I posted an idea that the card suits in our kingdom might be based of us and our wives. We're Wings Jar was Gloves etc. Pally said he might use it but I risked nude animated playing cards because he's Pally. the Gloves can outwit Scrolls stuff is the logic for which suit beats which so Gloves beats Scrolls who beat swords who beat Gloves and Wings always wins.
>>44433962>because he's PallyBecause Jallariel had a hand in designing it you mean
>>44434027I know by now that you'll find a way to justify anything you want to Chame.
>>44433810I would be okay with it, maybe we can see more of Phoebe?
>>44434107Good team needs more screen time. And a name.
>>44433962wings op, plz nerf
>>44434289For clarity's sake I'll add that it's only when the hands would otherwise be a draw and the game is played by our rabbid fansuccubus's so good luck getting them to agree to a nerf.
