PREVIOUSLY: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?searchall=Tank+Witches+of+OrussiaThe next morning was spent clinging to the back of a Sherman tank rolling along to the staging area outside of the range of the Neuroi cannons. The five of you reported to the General in charge of the operation, and in his tent you all pored over a map of the area. “This is where we’re starting, the Neuroi have a production cluster that builds new drones in this area, which used to be a small Orussian hamlet. Defenses included extensive minefields, along with periodic anti-tank and anti-infantry turrets surrounding the cluster. Each one can deploy up to fifty drones at a time in its defense. So, this is why we’re having the Strike Witches lead the assault.”It was your team, and the 1st Joint Tank Witch Squadron under Captain Kelly as well. She smiles at you from across the table, apparently proud of your new posting and your accomplishments. Burnie as well grins, giving you two thumbs up. “I will lead the north flank, supported by several squadrons of Liberion Shermans. We will be the initial assault with our southern flank being led by our young Sergeant here.” She chews on the end of her smoking pipe, mulling over it.“The Sergeant will have another squadron of Shermans, however the minefield will be difficult to traverse but we have a solution for that as well,” says the General. “Because the mines are pressure sensitive, we can simply barrage the area with artillery to detonate as many of them as possible before we begin our advance. But it won’t eliminate all of the mines, so minerollers will be necessary.” He motions to you. “That means one of you will have to carry one of our new experimental hand rollers into combat.”You tilt your head. “Erm. Hand rollers?” In all of your years of logistics duty, you’ve never even heard of it.[1/2]
>>43255921[2/2]“They’re mine rollers designed to be used by Witches,” says Captain Kelly. “Big buggers, like rolling pins in a sense except very big and nearly indestructible. Point is that you use them to crush and detonate mines in your way before you assault. You clear a way for the heavy tanks like the King Tigers to roll in, along with creating safe avenues for the Jagdtigers as well. But it is a dangerous duty I will say.”“That’s right,” says the General. “The hand roller is also very heavy so you will need to choose someone strong to carry it into battle with you. Do you already know who will be using it?”> You> Rascal> Thorn> Greta> Aurelia

> You“I’ll do it,” you say. “I’m the strongest out of all of us. It should be me.” Your girls are look to you, immediately admiring your bravery. In truth, you honestly just don’t trust them enough to handle the task of mine rolling. Greta might’ve been your better decision but you figured she was slower than you. And because of the need to keep things moving, you ought to be the one to do it. It’s not a nice job, but someone has to do it.“Very well,” says the General. He checks his watch. “We start the assault in four hours. Keep your Strikers warm, and make sure you’re all prepared. These clusters will keep producing new units until destroyed, so we can’t just skip around them. We have to pull up the weeds by the root. Dismissed.” You all salute, then begin filing out of his tent. Greta smiles, punching you on the arm, apparently proud of you for volunteering for such a dangerous duty. Thorn as well ruffles up your hair too.“Sergeant.” Captain Kelly stops you three. “It’s been a while. I heard of your defense of the Hill just a few days back, I could not believe you held the Neuroi like that alone.”“Well, I had help.” You look at Greta and Thorn, smiling.“Indeed.” She points her pipe at you, smiling proudly. “I’m sad you aren’t part of this unit anymore, but I suppose you’ve gone to a greater cause. I’ll follow your career closely, Sergeant.”Burnie as well leans in from behind her, grinning wildly. “Yep!” She grabs her hand then plants a pair of trousers into your hand. “There ya go, Kid, you’ll need it!”“Er…” You look down at it. Pretty, but skimpy, and black. Side-tie too. These actually look astonishingly familiar but you can’t put your finger on it. “Um. “What’s this?”“Lucky trousers.” She leans in, grinning and whispering quietly to you. “I stole it.” She grins ever wider at that. “Don’t worry, they’re guaranteed to work.”[1/2]
>>43256794[2/2]“Um. Thank you.” You gently put them in your breast pocket, to the bewilderment of yourself, Greta, and Thorn. “Really, Lieutenant, Captain. The two of you have been great inspiration for me, so I should be the one thanking you two for all you’ve done for me. Burnie, especially, you for getting me into the Tank Witches.”“Aww…” Burnie places her hands on her cheeks, grinning. “She loves me!” She giggles happily, stepping back. You roll your eyes a little, biting your lip. You don’t love her. What a freak.Captain Kelly chuckles a little. “Haha. Well, me and the Lieutenant should go organize. But you, Sergeant. I do have to ask. What is your secret?” Burnie tilts her head, surprised but not completely so. Secret? “Most rookies I’ve seen tend to be a bit panicky in their first run, I don’t think we’ve seen a Tank Witch of your caliber be so cool under fire so far.”> “I just really love fighting. You have my respect well enough. I will see you on the field.” She nods to you, then moves on. Burnie as well waves goodbye, then gives two thumbs up as she leaves, grinning wildly. You have the respect of a veteran Tank Witch! Oh, you can’t help but feel just a little taller now! Oh, this is great, this is great! You look over at Thorn, who slaps your hand and clutches it, proud of you. Greta as well slaps you on the shoulder, giggling.“Captain Kelly isn’t easy to impress,” says Thorn. “You’ve got in really good with her, Kid. I wouldn’t waste it,” she says.Aurelia and Rascal come up to you. “So,” asks Aurelia. “What will we do for the next four hours?”“Keep ourselves loose, make sure we all got ammo and food in our bellies,” you explain.“Have you ever used a mine roller before?” asks Rascal. Oh, definitely no. “Those things are a lot bigger than you might think.”“Ah, how hard it could be?”--[1/2]
>>43257755[2/2]You yell in frustration, slowly rolling the big solid rolling pin mine roller forward as practice. Even WITH your Striker, this thing refuses to budge too much despite being a wheel. And you’re going to have to roll this thing uphill too! Your four girls watch as you struggle to push it faster than a slug slithers across the ground. Your tail is rattling loudly in exertion as you continue on and on.But at least it’s bigger than you. You can use it for cover. That’s a bonus. Sort of.Greta walks alongside you. “Do you need help?”“No, I’m good!” you shout.“You realize, Kid, that if you don’t get moving, we’ll be sitting ducks for artillery.” Thorn is quite blunt with you. “You either need to move it faster or get someone to help you.” Ugh, getting someone to help would mean sacrificing very important firepower. But it would also mean increased speed too. Then again, getting someone to help would hurt your pride. You don’t want help! They’ll think you’re soft. > “Fine, I’ll take a volunteer to help.”You sigh, resting your head on the mine roller. “Who wants to help?” you ask glumly. Aurelia, Greta, and Thorn look over at Rascal. Rascal is busy compulsively washing her hands with water from her canteen. But the minute she sees everyone staring at her, she sighs in defeat. “Rascal.”“Fine.” Rascal walks over, groaning. “So how do we do this?”“Simple, we push it. Greta, Aurelia, and Thorn will give us cover. And behind us the tanks will advance. But we have to keep good speed though if we want to make sure we get through unscathed. We take too long, the artillery is going to zero in on us and blow to bits. But if we go too fast, the tanks will be without our support and they’ll be cut to ribbons by Neuroi drones. Got that?” You cross your arms, looking down on Rascal.“Ah, well…” Rascal looks over at the mine roller. “I guess, I mean. I could totally do it.” She pats the roller, grinning nervously. “I’m your gal!”“Great!” Greta walks over, ruffling up Rascal’s already messy hair. “So, we have our advance party then!” She snaps her fingers. “We got an hour left so I’m going to get something to eat! Can’t fight Neuroi on an empty stomach!”Aurelia folds her arms. “I agree, for once. With your permission, Sergeant?” You nod. Aurelia and Greta walk away, giving each other very sly eyes at each other. Thorn as well wishes you luck, following the two and making sure they don’t cause trouble.Rascal sighs. “Do I have to?”“Since no one else volunteered,” you say. “Don’t worry, I’ll carry you. Metaphorically, I’m not actually going to carry you.”“Alright.” She grimaces a little, looking at the mine roller. You as well sort of stand around, watching her a bit. > “So. Yeah.”You sigh. “So. Yeah.” You smile at Rascal. “I mean, sorry for scaring you with all that spanking. But you know, dishonesty is the worst policy.”“It’s fine,” she says, holding up the trousers that were in your breast pocket a second ago. What the!? You quickly pat down your pocket. It’s gone! How did she do that? “Where did you get these?” You quickly swipe them back and stuff them into your pocket again.“Look, stop stealing things,” you say. “Nobody likes a thief.”She looks down at your miniskirt, then back up at you. “You’re not going to wear them?” D-… does she know? The look on her face says she does. Ah crud. “Just saying, it’s kind of weird.”“I like it,” you state simply. “It feels natural.” You place your hands on your hips, looking down on her. “Now listen though. And listen good. We have a very tough responsibility here. Those mines can destroy a heavy tank in go. It’s our job to detonate them and clear a path for the tanks behind us. Lives are at stake here. You get that?”Rascal nods, looking at the roller. “I got you. But I’m not exactly uh…” She waves her arms a little. “Strong.”“Don’t worry, like I said, I’ll carry you.” You smile down on her, warmly this time. “You’re my girl. That means I’ll protect you and lead you through thick and thin. Okay?” She looks up at you, squinting with those very tired eyes of hers. She sighs, nodding. “Okay!” You slap her on the butt, causing her to yelp. “Let’s get out there!”“Don’t do that!” she yells.“Aw come on, that’s just friendly!” You slap her on the butt again. She squeaks again, trying to run away. “Come back! You can do it to me this time! Come back!”[1/2]
>>43260015[2/2]--“Okay, everyone!” you yell. You grip onto one end of the roller, with Rascal taking the other end. Everyone is behind, ready to use the roller for cover and pop out to take sniping shots. Behind your squadron is a column of M4A3E8 Sherman tanks, ready to help provide fire support. And in front of you at least a mile away is the Neuroi Factory Cluster. Destroying that cluster is your top priority. “This is it!” You take up a whistle and blow. The loud “bweeee” sounds throughout the area. “Charge!”You and Rascal start pushing, rolling up to a decent speed now. Greta and company march behind you, guns ready to shoot down anybody. The Tank Commander of the lead Sherman has turned out, scanning the horizon from his more advantageous position. The roller rumbles as a mine blows up underneath it, then another. You look to your right to see off in the distance Captain Kelly’s team moving as well.“Watch out, flyers!” yells the Tank Commander. Infantry manning the AA .50s on the Shermans starting lighting the day sky with tracer fire. Aurelia as well starts taking sniping shots.Okay, off to a good start. No artillery just yet, either because you’re still out of range or because they aren’t zeroing on you. Both are good prospects.Suddenly, you start listing left. > Wait for Rascal to pick up the paceYou stop pushing, waiting on Rascal. Greta bumps into you, completely blind to her front. “What are you doing!?” yells Greta. “We need to keep moving!”“Rascal needs to catch up!” The roller starts moving again, and you quickly keep up a slower pace this time with Rascal at your side. “Come on, hurry Rascal!” An explosion rocks the line. Loud roars of incoming shells strike at your ears. It’s Neuroi artillery. Another explosion, closer this time. The Tank Commander shouts at you. “We need to move faster! We’re sitting ducks out here!”“We need to pick up the pace, Rascal!” You call to her, trying to encourage her. She nods violently, putting everything she has in forcing the roller to move. More mines detonate beneath it, causing a few dents and cracks but nothing too serious. Suddenly, laser shots start deflecting and scorching off its surface. The clusters have deployed static defenses. “Greta, Thorn! Spot out the AT guns, those are your top priority!”Thorn nods, leaning over the side and trying to scope out the small hill that you’re now climbing. “Greta, 11 O’Clock!” A beam swipes across the line, nearly nicking a Sherman in the process.“We need to move faster!” yells the Commander.“I know!” you yell. Greta fires, sniping the turret. “Come on, Rascal!”[1/2]
>>43261028[2/2]Rascal pants heavily, completely soaked in sweat. Her face is purple from the exertion of pushing the roller. They really need to make this thing lighter or something. Or give it treads so you can get more traction in this snow! More and more mines keep detonating until finally, they just stop. “Sergeant!” The Tank Commander consults a map board on his turret. “We’re clear of the mine field! We’re going to set up a firing line then advance on your go!” You give him a thumbs up, and the tanks quickly start rolling out from behind you into position. Greta keeps sniping AT guns out of the clusters, keeping cover.Rascal collapses, completely tired. Just give me a sec.” She hnches, groaning in exhaustion. You’ll give her this one break, but she will need to play a lot of catch up in the next few minutes or so. An artillery blast blurs your vision for a second, before you quickly resume formation with everyone else. You signal the tanks forward. “Charge!” you yell. The Shermans start rollin forward. Blasting the clusters with their 76mm guns. It’s not the high explosive they’re using, it’s the armor piercing rounds. Those are the only things that have any sort of chance of denting those big cluster armor. “Come on, quickly!” you say. You and your witches lead the charge. More artillery bursts in, one Sherman is even flipped end over end by a blast. You’re not going to get caught up in it though, you have to keep moving.Drones pop up out of the snow and out of ruined buildings that haven’t been assimilated by the Factory Cluster. They were person sized spider tanks that can knock holes into Shermans with one hit. Which is precisely why you were leading the charge. The four of you witches were quickly to start shooting them down, or in Greta’s case, stomp them back into their holes before they could even think about touching a Sherman.“We’re approaching one of the clusters!” yells the Tank Commander. He pulls out a flare gun, then fires it off. A red flare trails through the sky, signaling for the air witches to come and provide more support. They’ll be here in about five minutes hopefully.[1/2]
>>43262747[2/2]“Watch out!” Thorn yells to you. Out of the snow bursts a larger drone, a Salvaged Panzer I Spider tank. Before you can even react, you’re quickly knocked into an old building and punted right through the walls. You come to rest against an old drawer. For insult’s sake, a vase lands on your hand, shattering. You hold your head, now ringing in pain. Your Strikers at least made it but now you’re separated from the squad! You quickly try to recover, groaning. You look down and find yourself bleeding below the chest. Oh great, that’s what happens when you have low shield potential you guess. You pull the bolt back on your Thompson and start spraying the floor, blasting drones to bits. No good, they’re still coming.Forget your holding your ground! You quickly start rolling through the house, blasting apart door ways to make room for your huge Strikers. That just means more Salvage drones. Some even drop onto your shoulder, and bite down into your uniform. They tear apart the cloth, exposing your skin to the biting cold. “Ah! You little!” You slap one away, and crush another in your hand. More latch onto your Striker, biting and tearing at the metal. No dents, at least thanks to it still working, but more are climbing and crawling all over your body. You yell frightfully as their little legs rub up and down your skin, and their jaws rip and tear at your clothes, thinking it to be the hull of some tank. You rip some out of your hair, more out of your clothes, one even comes out of your shirt with your bra attached! That’s yours, damn it! Suddenly, your Strikers lock up. Oh, no, not now! They’re overloading your magic systems! One of them bites on your tail. “AAAAHHH!” You scream, quickly whipping it off. “That’s it!” You start crushing them. If you can’t go forward with your Strikers, you’ll go up and down! More and more crushed beneath your treads.“Kid!” Thorn busts in, she quickly starts blasting some of the Salvage Drones apart. Once they see that you have a friend, they all quickly begin dispersing like rats in a flood. You try to start up your Striker again, come on! “Kid, are you alright!?”[1/2]

Very few bits of fabric and keeping you decent. You look up at her again. “Tell no one,” you say.
