> Previous Threads: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Marvel%20Civil%20War%20Quest> Character Sheet: http://pastebin.com/xMnkBDUDWelcome to Marvel Civil War Quest! This quest takes place just before, and during the Civil War event in the Marvel Universe. The world, and the events that take place are going to be affected by your character, and the choices you make. You are playing as Dean Walters, a twenty-something year old average guy, who happens to wield the hammer of Thor. Since finding Mjolnir, you’ve joined up with Tony Stark, and are now relatively trusted by him. Even you can tell, there is a war just around the corner.
>>42514009Oh god.I was about to go to sleep.But now I can't.
>>42514009You wake up after a very not restful sleep. You get dressed, and grab both your armor and Mjolnir, before heading out to face the world. The base seems quiet enough, which probably means you have a decent bit of free time. You can use this to train, try and gather information, or really, whatever you want. You have an entire military base seemingly to yourself, as Tony’s probably off doing whatever it is he does, and most of the other occupants of the base have been really busy with everything that’s happened since Stamford. >What do you do?> A. Get some training in> B. Snoop around the base.> C. Head out to the nearby town.> D. Write-in.
>>42514043> A. Get some training inBack to basic CQC.
>>42514043> B. Snoop around the base.Talk to people, mess around in the mess. today is a rest day.
>>42514043It's time to be a hero and find some good fight. Patrol a city or some shit. Some some C tier villain to mess up.
>>42514173>>42514123>>42514112Could we get a tie breaker?
>>42514043>A. Get some training in
>>42514208Train through action?
It's 6:30 AM and this quest already started? Damn you need to tell me about time schedule man!
>>42514043> A. Get some training in
>>42514728>>42514584>>42514558>>42514112You head down to the training yard, determined to get some practice in while you have the free time. It seems pretty likely that you won’t have all that much free time coming up, if what everyone seems to be preparing for actually does happen. Not to mention, you really want to be able to actually help in the coming battles. Even you, someone who wasn’t ever all that familiar with the world of the Supers, knew how incredibly awesome Thor’s power was. It feels like you’re only able to unlock a fraction of that right now. You get to the training yard and look over the open field. It’s earlier than you’d thought, with the sun only now rising into the sky.>What do you want to focus on in your training?> Energy Projection> Basic Combat Skills> Using the Armor> Magic> Other (Write-in)
>>42514838>Using the Armor
>>42514838More intimate control with the hammer. Learn to throw it accurately. Later we can learn to recall it, which is half way learning to fly with it.
>>42514865You're actually able to recall it already. It takes a lot of focus and concentration, but you can get it to come back to you. You just can't throw it for shit yet.
>>42514838>Using the awesome armor.
>>42514865>>42514852You split your focus between learning how to use the armor better, and more accurate control of your hammer. You train for a few hours, until you’re far too hungry and tired to train anymore. Although splitting your efforts meant you learned slower than you would otherwise, by the time you’re done, you’ve made some very good progress. You’re able to control the armor pretty well, and you’re almost able to fly a few dozen feet without crashing. Your training with the hammer goes a bit slower, but you still feel much more familiar with it. You head back into the base, and after a quick shower, you realize Tony might be giving you the entire day off, or something, seeing as it’s already noon, and he hasn’t called you or anything. >What do you do now?> A. Snoop around the base.> B. Call up another hero. (Who?)> C. Go to the town. > D. Write-in.
>>42514996>A. Snoop around the base.
>>42514996>> A. Snoop around the base.
>>42514009Should probably have linked this on twitter. I might've been here 3 hours ago.
>>42514996Practice more with the hammer, we need to be in top shape for when we eventually get called into action.
>>42515101>>42515007You take the time to look around the base, seeing as you basically have free reign. The winding corridors continue to confuse you, until you think you’re lost. The good news is, you stumble across what you think is some sort of lab? Entering the room, you see all sorts of weird objects, little machines, weird specimens... it looks like what you’d see in a cartoon mad scientist’s lab. At the end of the room, there’s a desk, with odd plans and blueprints laid out, and a strand of hair long golden hair kept in a jar. You get the feeling that you really shouldn’t be here. > What do you do?> A. Leave, this shit’s weird.> B. Leave, but take the blueprints with you.> C. Take the time to read through everything.> D. Write-in.
>>42515245>A. Leave, this shit’s weird.We shouldn't snoop in Tony's lab
>>42515245>> B. Leave, but take the blueprints with you.
>>42515245> B. Leave, but take the blueprints with you.
>>42515499I just got here man, just woke up. Pls no samefag.
>>42515492>>42515454Feeling oddly watched in the lab, you grab the blueprints off the table, and get out of there. Once you’re out of the lab, you head back to the dorm and take a look at the blueprints you stole. Glancing over them, despite not being a scientist by any means, it seems like they’re blueprints for making a clone of Thor? You realize the strand of hair you saw in the lab must have been Thor’s. You don’t get much time to process this information, as just then your phone starts ringing. It’s Tony. > Do you answer it?
>>42515592Well, obviously. Also, why the fuck is he trying to clone Thor?
>>42515639Tony and Reed is making a Thor-clone to tip the scales in their favour now that the real Thor is gone. In the Civil War comics he winds up killing Bill Foster AKA "Black Goliath" in a battle against Captain America and his band of rebels.
>>42515687Holy shit, that was actually a thing? I thought it was OC. I honestly didn't read Civil War - I thought it was dumb - so this is a surprise to me.
>>42515698Yep, it's totally real. If you guys had somehow proven to Tony your skill, he wouldn't actually be doing it. The cloning actually lead to one of my favorite Thor moments when he came back.
>>42515698Here's the page
>>42515739>The cloning actually lead to one of my favorite Thor moments when he came back. This?
>>42515823That's the one.
>>42515646>>42515618>>42515639You pick up the phone, and Tony starts speaking without taking a moment to greet you or let you get a word in. “Dean. The proposal will pass at midnight tonight, and we’re very understaffed. We’ve already found some people who’re anti-registration, and I need you to be prepared to take them in as soon as the clock strikes twelve. I’ve got a few options for you, okay?” He paused, and you can hear him typing on a keyboard, before he speaks up again.“Okay, here we go. First, we’ve got a kid in New York, lightning powers, calls himself Conduit. Next, a woman in Dallas, Texas. She’s got some sort of psychic power, but we don’t know all that much about her. Finally, we’ve heard rumors of Nitro in California. Whatever you want to go for, this’ll be the first thing you do without supervision, Dean, so don’t fuck it up.”> What do you do?> A. Conduit in New York.> B. Psychic woman in Dallas.> C. Nitro in California.> D. Write-in.
>>42515961> A. Conduit in New York.Start small. We don't have a good grasp of shit yet, and we have the powers of THOR. Go with a sure thing.
>>42515961Oh, extra bit of info in case it sways any opinions, Dean's brother is based in Dallas.
>>42515961> A. Conduit in New York.
>>42515961> A. Conduit in New York.Should be quick, we are the avatar of thunder, amirite?
>>42515961>A. Conduit.>D. "What about Steve?"
>>42515961>C. Nitro in California.Get the only real criminal here
>>42515975>>42516002>>42516008>>42516094>Hunting down nobodies instead of the guy who just killed 600 civilians
>>42516116The problem with Nitro is that he blows shit up, but he doesn't blow up randomly. Do YOU want another Stamford? Poorly-trained superhumans rushing into combat is what caused the slaughter in the first place.
>>42516116It's just rumors of a guy. Alternatively, we can be in place to actually do something.
>>42516127We should at least react to the fact that the guy gets literally no media attention, while every channel paints Speedball as the devil incarnate.
>>42516155Well, Speedball's well known as still being alive, and he's a hero. The bad guy who probably died in the blast and is expected to do shit like that? It's not as good of a news story.
>>42515975>>42516002>>42516008>>42516094You think for a moment, but eventually make your decision. “I’ll go after the one in New York. Conduit.” Again, you hear the clacking of keys, and Tony nods. “Sure, that works. I’ll send the others to Dallas and California. Now, remember, Dean. We want this guy taken down with as little property damage as possible. If you could bring him down without a fight, that’d be best, but if you can’t... well, just try not to get anyone else hurt. It’s completely up to you to decide you want to take him down.” Tony pauses again, typing more, and then continues. “I’m gonna send everything we have on him to your suit, and I’ll chart a course for you to New York. Any questions?”You take a moment to try and think of anything you want to ask. “Uh, yeah. What are we doing about Steve?” Tony’s tone suddenly turns cold, or well, colder. “We’re still working on that problem. We’re not sure where he is, but we’re looking into it. He hasn’t made a move yet, himself, but more heroes are ‘disappearing’. We think he has some base where he’s getting them together, but we’ve got no idea where it is.” With that, Tony hangs up. You sigh, and quickly suit up. You can see images, schedules, small amounts of information sent to you by Tony, and the autopilot kicks on, taking you to New York. > What do you do on the ride over?> A. Review the information on Conduit and work out a strategy.> B. Work on your flying with the suit.> C. Look into something else (Write-in)
>>42516263First:> B. Work on your flying with the suit. Then if we have time:> A. Review the information on Conduit and work out a strategy.
>>42516263>B. Work on your flying with the suit.> A. Review the information on Conduit and work out a strategy.
>>42516263Go with A, first. Like, we don't really NEED the suit and the other stuff. Hopefully we can talk the kid down.
>>42514009Juat a daily reminder superhero regulation and registration does NOT require the information of their civil identities and that having that is the main point of content. Also reminder that taking away the US gov power and instead having an extranational cooperative would be the best choice as it prevents "superhero armies".Daily reminder you guys could be the voice of reason over caps and tony's lunacyDo not fall for the false dichotomy, there's no need to just repeat thr fucking comics' retardedness.
>>42516476Also:Reed Richards and Tony Stark should go to prison for their crimes against humanity.
>>42516293>>42516312You split the time during the flight between working on being able to fly with your suit, and reviewing the information Tony sent you. You’re able to fly in a straight line very well, even able to do some simple maneuvers without crashing. If you introduce anything much more complicated though, and you’re likely not going to be able to do much of anything, especially not combat while flying. The information Tony sent you is pretty extensive, you’re actually impressed. You look at the images first, so you can know who you’re looking for. It’s a figure completely covered in some sort of strange blueish-grey exoskeleton. Looks to be of average height and weight for a male in his late teens. Next, you look at the proposed identity’s Tony’s gathered. A list of possible people Conduit could be, based on the location of sightings and where he seems to be returning too after every fight. The top contender for his identity is Zachary Reeves, a teenager who lives with a single mother, and an imprisoned father. Finally, you look at the information Tony’s compiled about his powers. It seems Conduit has enhanced speed, reflexes and strength, as well as lightning powers. The armor seems pretty durable, although you can see it get broken. If you had more time, you might be able to pinpoint the source of his powers, as well as his armor’s weakness, but as it is, you’re impressed you managed to get through all of that on the flight over, considering it wasn’t that long. Now that you’ve arrived in New York, you need to figure out a plan.> What’s your strategy here?
>>42516538Make contact, try to talk to the kid and make sure he knows we're not here to hurt him or put him in jail.
So since we picked up Thor's hammer, how come we didn't get the cape, helmet, armour, and delicious blonde locks that tags along?
>>42516538What I think is that we should be very visible. Make him come to us.We go to a burger joint near to where he was spotted and buy 2 meals. We then find a park or somewhere where there are no people or a place where if there's a fight, any civilians can get away. There, we sit down, have lunch and wait for him to come. We
>>42516599Because it doesn't really make sense, seeing as Thor changes his costume himself, and it's not like it's a consistent appearance between everyone who picked up the hammer. You'll get a no-prize if you come up with a better answer, though.
>>42516538Tweet him, asking him to come to central park. You'll bring free food.
>>42516615Thor's armor belongs to Thor. He gave us the hammer, not his fancy armor.
>>42516615>>42516647Mjolnir gives whomever wields it the power of Thor. This has consistently been shown to give them Thor-like armour, and often blonde hair.
>>42516675Maybe someone else got the armor and is currently being crushed to death by its weight.
>>42516675To be fair, it used to be a walking stick. And actually literally turn the person into Thor.
>>42516675>>42516689Beta Ray Bill even kept the armour after giving Mjolnir back to Thor
>>42516699Incorrect. He lost it when he lost Mjolnir, but got it back when he was given Stormbreaker.
>>42516590>>42516610>>42516636You settle on a plan pretty quickly, one that hopefully wouldn’t end with anyone hurt. You touch down in the city, and take your armor off, putting it in your pocket. You’re near his ‘neighborhood’, which means your strategy will go better than you’d expected. You head to a nearby fast food restaurant, and grab two meals. You pay for them, and head out to Central Park, which is nearby. You look around, it’s a bit more crowded than you’d like, but if it really ends up coming to a fight, you doubt he’ll want to hurt anyone either. Even if he does, you’ll just have to get the civilians out. The good thing is, you can fly. Conduit can’t. You pull out your phone, which, compared to your fancy armor, seems like using a type writer. You find his twitter, because for some reason, all the superheroes have twitters nowadays, and you tweet at him, letting him know you’re in Central Park, and you want to talk. Once that’s done, all you have to do is wait. It’s getting late, but you still have several hours before closing time. Surely enough, he shows up. He looks around warily, and you wave him over towards you. He approaches slowly, seemingly ready to fight at a moment’s notice. He looks around, and then says, “You’re Stark’s lapdog, aren’t you? What do you want from me? I’m not gonna register.” The suit muffles his voice, but even underneath it, he definitely sounds like a teenager.> What do you want to do?> A. Fuck diplomacy, surprise attack!> B. Reason with him, appeal to his sense of justice.> C. Reason with him, appeal to his rationality.> D. Other (Write-in)
>>42516871"Drop the act (suspected name). You're not gonna reveal anything we don't know already by not registering. Just register already. It isn't the end of the world."
>>42516871Seconding>>42516895"You'll actually get paid for your good work. Probably enough to help support your family. Doing secret hero stuff with Captain America isn't gonna get the bills paid, y'know?"
>>42516871>> C. Reason with him, appeal to his rationality.
>>42516871"There are two ways this can go down. One of them ends with you in jail, the other ends with you in a proper job as a full time superhero. Think about how your paychecks can help your mother."
>>42516871> B. Reason with him, appeal to his sense of justice. Also appeal that if he stays on the side of law he can make sure registration (and stark by proxy) don't get out of hand. We can push for it to be fair, safe and to stop government abuse of heroes legally.
>>42516871Sit down, have a burger, why don't you want to register?Let him give his opinion and from there we can try to convince him to either register or be neutral in this.
>>42516871>"Debate later, free food first."
>>42516934>>42516895Hurr durr let's be passive agressive fags unlike anything before, this will show him!
>>42517013Hey at least it's better than being a assertive battle hungry faggot.
>>42516871"Register or die">Hit him with the hammer hard enough to bisect him.
Wasn't Spider-Man pretty much Tony Stark's lapdog by the start of Civil War? About time we met him.Calling it now, it'll be just as he publicly reveals his identity.
>>42516871> D. Other (Write-in)"I just want to talk. Why *don't* you want to register?"
>>42517072Well, sorta. Spidey wasn't exactly a lapdog, he wasn't running errands for him, but he was very loyal at the time. Not to mention, there's little known about you right now other than that you're always with Stark, so public perception is that you're basically his muscle.
>>42517120Spidey lived in a Stark-sponsored luxury suite with his wife and aunt, and he recieved monthly pay-checks from Stark. Peter was deep in Tony's pocket by the time the Civil War started.
>>42517181Oh yeah, totally. But public perception by the anti-registration is that he's more of a sellout than a lapdog. You haven't been loyal to anyone other than Stark so far, everyone expected Spidey to be anti-reg, and then he wasn't and he also had all sorts of new Stark sponsored tech.
>>42517078>>42516950>>42516945You shake your head, and gesture for him to sit down. “First, food. Then we’ll talk.” You reach into the bag of food you’d gotten, and pull out two burgers. You toss one to Conduit, and unwrap one yourself, strating to eat. He takes it, and, although he’s wary, he takes a bite, his helmet seeming to dissolve where it was covering his mouth. After chewing in silence for a moment, you look over at him, “So, why is it that you don’t want to register. I want to hear your side of the story.” He seems a bit shocked by this, but he does his best to hide it. “Well, it just... doesn’t seem right. The masks are important. If people know who were are, they’ll come after our loved ones, and stuff... Not to mention, I don’t think we should be punished for trying to help people! I never asked for these powers, but now I have to register and let the world know I have them!”He seems like he doesn’t have the best grasp on how to express his thoughts, but he also seems passionate about being anti-registration.> How do you want to proceed?
>>42517227Regarding Spidey's new tech:I wonder how much stronger the Thor Clone will become based on the data Tony will get from our suit.
>>42517315>How do you want to proceed?Point out that the only people who would really know about his secret identity would be just some government agents, S.H.I.E.L.D., and his family. It's not like they'll plaster his name & face all over the news or some shit. Or at least we don't expect them to.
>>42517315It's not like your identity will be available to the public, and we've both seen how badly things can go when untrained and unsactioned superheroes fuck up. If you register you'll get payed for doing the thing you love: Helping people.
>>42517315Seconding>>42517357And point out that he'll get paid and can help his family out better than if he sides with Captain America.
>>42517315I get where you're coming from. Really I do. Still the registration allows new supers like you or more to get the training we need. Stanford made that clear. It'd also get you payed for helping people. The only people who'd know who you are government officials.
>>42517315>"Ya know, it'd be nice if noone had to register. Wouldn't it? If noone were restricted, if they weren't kept from helping people by the government. We've got these powers and we want to use them to help. And, on that note, why don't we let every well-meaning person with a gun go around and help out fighting criminals? Alot more people die when you don't regulate things.>"I get that you're worried about your family, but you've made a name for yourself. All heroes have. You can guess how police would respond if someone went after cop families. How do you think we would respond, as a unified force, the moment some super schmuck laid so much as a finger on your mother? If anything, having your name associated with her will only keep her safe."
>>42517315Fair enough. And if your name was in a secret directory only accessible by say at least 3 current avengers or something would that be better? Also, a question. Do you have any training with you suit and powers? I'm not going to say that you'll won't make any mistakes if you register, but with training, we'll help you minimise any mistakes you make. Also we will give you a decent wage during training.
>>42517382Don't bring up Cap. Don't want the kid getting ideas.
>>42517442Good point.>>42517315Changing my vote a bit >>42517382to not say Captain America. Just say "anti-Reg side".
>>42517315>"Every time we find someone with a gun, the first thing the police do is check their registration. Do you know why? Because the only people allowed to use guns are people we can trust not to abuse having a killing weapon. This is exactly the same way. Your lightning is your ability to walk into a crowded room and walk out the only survivor. By registering, what you say is that you acknowledge that you have a loaded gun, and you understand that you will be held accountable for how it's used. That you won't go around killing people just because you can. And before you get all indignant, you and I both know there are people like that in the world. If there weren't and we could be trusted with our powers on our word alone, the Registration Act wouldn't even be proposed."
>>42517072Where's the next page? In fact if you could send me a link to a PDF file of this whole comic I would appreciate it.
>>42517613If I remember correctly, that's the last page. Or, it's the last page directly related to Spidey revealing his identity.
>>42517613>>42517638There's one more page where he asks "Any questions?", I think that was the end of the issue.Don't have the comics on hand to check.
>>42517348>>42517357>>42517382You nod, “I can see your point, and I understand why you’d be worried about it. But, your identity won’t be made public, at all. And we all know what happens when there’s an unprepared hero, even if they’re trying to do well. If you register, you’ll be able to be trained with some of the best heroes in the world, and you’ll be able to help people, and get paid for it. That means you’ll be able to support your family and the people you care about, whilst saving lives. And you’ll be able to do it much more than fighting against it.” He looks at you, and then down at his feet, like he’s truly thinking about it. Finally he looks up at you, and his helmet dissolves completely, revealing his face. He grins up at you, and nods, “I’ll do it, if it means I can help people, and support my family.” He holds out his hand, and you take it, “My name’s Zachary.” You return his smile, “I’m Dean. If you come with me, I can bring you back to a place where you’ll be safe until we sort out your registration.” You realize Tony didn’t really tell you what to do if you got him to come with you willingly, but you did.> Where do you take the kid?> A. Stark Towers.> B. Back to the base.> C. The Baxter Building> D. Write-in
>>42517862>B. Back to the base.
>>42517862>> B. Back to the base.
>>42517862Stark Towers should be the closest. Might as well go there.
>>42517862>A. Stark Towers
>>42517862Well, Stark Towers is the closest, but what do they have to do with the registration process? They're a tech company, Tony said so himself. That's a government thing. Base I suppose
>>42517987The guy we're with can't fly. If Stark Tower can't handle his registration, it will have transport to get him to the right place.
>>42517862Uh call in with Tony and ask him to handle the reg while we take the kid to base?
>>42518077This. Was about to write it in myself. At the very least ask where would be best to take him.
>>42518036Actually, there should be a way to register in most major cities but NTK information to keep their identities. Call Tony and ask him where's the nearest one.
>>42518112>Call Tony and ask him where's the nearest one.Seconding.
>>42518077>>42518111>>42518112>>42518297You pull out your phone, and quickly call Tony. The phone rings for a while, but he eventually picks up. “Dean? This isn’t the best time. What’s going on?” You let him know you talked to Conduit, and he’s ready to register. “That’s good. Very good. I was worried you might get in a fight or something. The more peacefully we can handle things like this, the closer we get to making people trust heroes again. Stamford caused some heavy damage there, and it’s up to us to undo that.”You ask Tony where the nearest place Conduit can register is, and after a minute he has an answer. “Here, I’ll chart a course for your suit. As soon as that’s done I want you to take the kid and get back to the base. Cap’s making his move.” Once you’re done talking to Tony, you turn back to Conduit, and let him know you’ll take him to where he can get registered. You suit up, and you feel pretty proud of yourself when you don’t need to use autopilot, and you’re able to fly Zachary to the place. It’s some sort of undercover SHIELD base, or something. Either way, they take Conduit away, and fifteen minutes later, he’s a registered superhero. You fly him back to base, in a path you’re pretty familiar with by now.> What do you do?> A. Stay at the base, do something with Conduit.> B. Head out to New York, see how you can help. > C. Write-in.

>>42518435> A. Stay at the base, do something with Conduit.Be ready for deployment
>>42518435> A. Stay at the base, do something with Conduit.Talk about super hero names. What should we be? Dhor? Perun? Iron Thor? Man-Thor? Thor-Man? Tempest? MC Hammer?

>>42518435>> A. Stay at the base, do something with Conduit.
>>42518528I'm probably gonna go with this in here, but I wanna leave it up to a vote. What name do you guys wanna go with?
>>42518585Tempest is pretty good.
>>42518585Tempest is pretty bitchin.
>>42518585"Einherjar" seems like a decent callback to the roots of our power
>>42518585The Titanic Tempest, heir to Thor
