>Brock Carter was an average college slacker, until he was chosen as the heir to the Joker. Why? Nobody knows!

It is week two of your operation. The Nail Bomb Kits are being distributed throughout the entire city; the police chief has been running news reports on television warning parents and children about the dangers of these kits.

See? The kids are learning something. All because of you.

Knock has not given you any problems since your confrontation with him. Currently he and Dottie are planning which jewelry stores to hit during the attacks; they've planned a chain of four stores along a street uptown, all with four different vans at the same time. Once the jobs are done the four vans will disperse down separate side streets, each taking a different path to a different safehouse to dump the jewels. Afterwards one driver will take each van to a separate location to get rid of it.

Even if one van is taken, three others make it. It might be overkill, but its safe. You're not comfortable enough to be taking risks yet.

You hear a voice you haven't heard in a week. "Well, you seem to be getting along swimmingly. Boss."

OP, as an active participant in the last thread, I'd like to say that you really should put [quest] in the title field.

"Welcome back Topper. Thanks for joining us," says Dottie. The yellow smile on her eyepatch is matching Top Hat's own. Dottie, however, is not.

"To what do I owe the pleasure?" You ask.

Knock stays silent.

"I've simply come to bring the reports you requested during our last meeting. Hard copies. You simply can't be too careful after all."

"I've... also heard about our upcoming operation. I must say, it was quite a surprise when I heard about it through the local news. I spoke with some of our operatives, though, and was able to get the full details. I've manage to pull together some contacts to liquidate the goods once we've retrieved them. I must say, though: such an oversight as leaving key financial considerations of your plan... Why, it could have been disastrous."

"...Boss."

He smiles his perfect smile again.

>what do you do?
>>
>>42512784
>I just didn't want you in the loop, is all. Acquisition was pretty early on and you were still sore and I knew if I made you do anything you'd fudge it up and then I'd have to find two new people. One to do your job and another to clean up the mess. You'll be in the loop for future jobs, and I won't hire any cleaners. Sound good?

"Next time don't skip out before a meeting ends and maybe you'll not be out of the loop next time. I'm sure you didn't do so on purpose so I'll let it slide this once." While grinning like a sadistic maniac, make it look like him not getting the information was his fault (which it is.) the implied threat will need to be followed through though the nezt time he pulls this shit.
>>
>>42512784
"Wow, wouldn't I kill to have that brain"

>>

>I'll be sure to take a close look at these tonight, thank you very much.
>Also, when the time for fencing comes, I'd like to accompany you so we can get their quotes together. The process has always fascinated me.

Give him little room to fudge the books. He's definitely skimming off the top, if financial reports made him uncomfortable.

After he leaves:
>So, I was thinking of a dentist theme for my next broadcast. He seemed eager to be on the operating table last time, maybe he'd like a chance at it.
>>
>>42512784

"Your services weren't needed for this operation. I've opted to begin keeping a stock of hard assets on hand, in addition to the soft assets that you oversee for me.

You simply can't be too careful."

"No," he smiles. "You simply can't."

"I would like to have portion of the goods converted to cash for expenses. I will accompany you when we meet your fence, of course. I feel I should be aware of all the types of business my organization does." You stress the word "My."

"While I should warn you that some of my contacts may take none to kindly to one with such a... Colorful background, you are, of course, the boss."

"Yes, I am. Thank you for bringing my reports. I will be in touch," you say with finality.

Top Hat hesitates for a second as if trying to think of some retort, before placing the stack of papers on the table. He flashes you one final smile, and leaves.

"I'm thinking a dentist theme for the next broadcast," you say. "How do you think Topper would like to be a star?"

For the first time you see Knocker stifle a laugh, "Always wanted to knock those teeth out myself..."

Much later in the evening, you, Knock, Dwayne, Dottie, Spike, and the twins sit in the main hall. The room is strewn with notes, fliers, and shipping forms from your upcoming crime. You all enjoy a moment of downtime before you kick into high gear to prepare. Drinks have been passed around, the twins are in their corner, and Spike ordered pizza.

For the first time it feels like everyone in the room is on the same side.

Now is the perfect time to ask any questions of your crew. Who do you speak to? What do you ask?

"What about...the eyepatch?"

She motions for you to come closer, checks around herself, and lifts up the yellow eyepatch. Underneath, you see a green eye looking back. She snaps the eyepatch back in place, leans back, and laughs. "Looks tough though, right?"

"Yeah, real intimidating. Alright Dottie. Take care."

The old boss would have iced him right there for talking like that. I guess you ain't the old boss though."

"How much do you think he's taking off the top?"

"No way of knowing. The boss never really cared about finance unless it got in his way, or if he thought somebody was pulling one over on him. I think he and Topper had an understanding though. The boss new he was stealing and could have killed him whenever he wanted. Long as Topper knew who was in control, the boss didn't care where the money went."

He shakes his head. "Old boss never asked questions."

"I guess I ain't the old boss. See you later Knock."

He gets back to his work. "Yeah..."

You walk over to Dwayne. The clown is moving pins about on the distribution map, muttering to himself.

"Hey Dwayne, you got a minute?"

"Sure chief." He turns to face you. "What's on your mind?"

"I was thinking about my old apartment..."

"Yeah, I thought about that too. We'll go by tomorrow night and move everything out. It'll be like you just vanished."

The thought makes you feel a pang of guilt.

"Say...remember in the car that first night? When you said Dwayne was just a nickname? Where did that come from?"

"Oh...that. Yeah, it's based on my real name," he says.

"Which is?"

"...Dwayne."

"Very...creative. So how long have you been with the gang, Dwayne?"

"Four years, more or less. I was contracted for a job, and the boss had me stick around. Would you believe I used to be a clerk? Processed shipping manifests all day long.

Guess the boss liked having somebody good at planning. Plus I can hit pretty hard. That helped."

"I can imagine. Alright Dwayne, be seeing you."

Spike has tarted pestering Dottie. "I gotta get home soon. You know my mom gets pissed when I'm late..."

It is getting pretty late. You head back to your quarters, wash the paint from your face, and hit the bed. You've got a long week ahead...

The next few days are a flurry of activity as you all prep for the heist. The news has reported the first few explsives being set off. No injuries yet, but a couple of Gotham's public schools are in need of repairs.

You are a bit surprised by this; you hadn't expected an attack on schools... They avoided any casualties this time, but what it had been during school hours?

You push the thought out of your mind. You have too much work to do.

Finally, the day arrives. Once Spike flips the switch, you'll make your broadcast, wait until the police are in place, and your crews will leap into action. If all goes according to plan they'll be at the safehouses an hour later, and back at the park in three.

IF all goes according to plan. You check yourself in the mirror for a moment, and open the door to the studio...

>TO BE CONTINUED

Every television in Gotham cuts to static, and a grinning clown appears. Everyone in Gotham knows that face: The Joker.

"Good Morning, Gotham! Uncle Joker thought he would check in and see how all the kids were enjoying their gifts."

"Say, I have an idea! This afternoon at 4:00- why don't you all put on a fireworks show in downtown Gotham? I think the Commissioner might be a little jealous I didn't get him anything..."

"Remember kids, 4:00, downtown. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!"

The screen goes black, and a graphic of a clock with the Joker's face in the center appears, ticking down to 4:00.

"I'll keep the broadcast up until four," says Spike.

You smile. The ticking clock should keep the GCPD paranoid. It gives them something to focus on while your real crimes slip by unnoticed. And it's the middle of the day too, so Batman isn't likely to show up...

...Right? You almost shudder. The Batman is still a mystery to you. He killed the last Joker, didn't he? What if you're next?

You head to the phones. Nothing for you to do but wait to check in.

The police have been on edge since you'd started sending out kits; the fliers inside had alerted them to the fact that something would be occurring today. Upon your announcement, though, they spring into action; downtown is swarming with police. Barricades, riot police, and the bomb squad are lying in wait, prepared for any kind of attack you might launch.

Short of a few kids with bombs, that attack will never come.

The four teams move out at 3:45; the police will barely have time to react. Knock is in one team, with Dottie in another, and the other two being led by a couple of Knock's men,

All four stores are to be hit simultaneously.

At the first store, Knock and his men are ready to enter.

Knock and one other team were assigned two two of the lower-value targets, and they're going in loud.

Green smokebombs are shot into the windows of both stores, while the gangers in gasmasks shout, smash the glass, and toss as much stuff on display as possible into duffel bags. The alarms are sounding, but Knock and his men work like an assembly line, filling bags and passing them back to the truck.

Once they've filled enough bags, they exit the store and get ready to flee...

Meanwhile, further uptown, Dottie's crews are ready to hit the higher value stores. This is a more precise strike.

She goes over the plan one more time in her head...
>what was the plan, again?

>>42521659
In and out.

No fuss, no mess, and no deaths.
>>
>>42521560
>>42521595

Sorry, it just seemed more fun to fudge attacks. Your character is more of a planner right now, while the rest of your team are talented enough that it can probably be assumed that they'll hit targets.

If you guys really want a dice rolling battle i can see what I can do though
>>
>>42521659
Quickly. Knock out gas before they enter. Anyone stands up to them they get put down hard. Spike should have disabled security for her store and the other and will be counting down until alarms go off.
>>
>>42521528
I mean think about it.

They both lost parents very young in very traumatic ways

they both spent most of their lives training and determined to fight evil

they both were plagued by a singular monstrous douchebag who had a knack for getting in their head....

>>42521659
Dottie and the other leader go in like customers, each of them having a dose of laughing gas antidote. Once the little capsules of laughing gas are in place around the store, they detonate simultaneously right at the appropriate time, subduing everyone in the room. Once the capsules detonate, Dottie and the other leader leave the room and take their antidote while the proper muscle comes in to loot everything. There will be a field tech to oxy torch their way through the door where most of the goods are kept, though that will be abandoned if they can't get through after 20 minutes. An extra 10 minutes is allowed if they do get through the vault doors.
>>
>>42521687
Why no deaths? We're the joker. Or is it because we've not figured out the funniest way to do it yet

>>42521659

Minutes before Knock's attack Dottie and the other leader entered the uptown jewelry stores quietly- though a clown entering any store in Gotham always a sign for alarm. Especially one with an eyepatch and openly carrying a gun.

Without a word the two leaders set off canisters of laughing gas, each crushing the antidote capsule clenched between their teeth.

The men rush in, each group with a safecracker who quickly gets to work. Their blowtorches begin cutting through the seals of vaults.

One of the employees on the floor attempts to hit a panic. A boot to the back of the neck, and Dottie makes sure that doesn't happen. There's a reason she was chosen for the quiet mission.

The keys to the cases are passed around. No alarms are sounded, and once they've filled their own bags, they quietly leave for the safehouse.

Unfortunately, it seems that Knock has company. The alarms from his stores drew in a patrol car on the lookout for criminals taking advantage of Gotham's state of panic.

>>
>>42522160
This and go for tires
>>
>>42522036

Knock orders the driver to drive, and the cops follow. When the two vans split down their separate sidestreets, the cruiser follows Knock. No doubt police are being called in on both vans.

He has to loose these guys, and he has to lose them fast.

Knock leans out the window, and lets loose with a mac-10.
Roll 6d6. Each 4+ is a tire blown out. On a six, Knock hits a cop.

>>
>>42522380
You know, they have two cops in the patrol car for a reason.
Shame that just doubles the casualties here.
>>
>>42522364

With his spray of bullets, Knock takes out the front tire of the cop car, and shatters the windshield. A bullet hits the driver in the cheek, the bones of his face caving in. He's still alive, but not for long. The other cop takes a bullet to the shoulder.

The car looses control and plows into a car parked on the side of the street. It fishtails, blocking off the street behind the van.

Both cops are dead on impact.
>>
>>42522544
Well thats certainly one way to ping on the batdar.
>>
>>42522544

Dottie phones in. She's at the safehouse, and the goods are there. The driver is taking the van to dump it, and will be picked up by another driver at a rendezvous point.

You breath a sigh of relief. That's one.

A few minutes later, Dottie's compatriot phones in. That's the second of the high street jobs that went off without a hitch.

Fifteen minutes pass.

No more calls.

Twenty.

Thirty.

Finally, a ring. It's Knock; he's been lying low after his run-in with the police, but he finally sent the driver off to dispose of the van.

"Dottie and her other team already checked in. What about the last van? The other of your men? Have they checked in with you?" you ask.

"...Nah, Boss. They should have called already. No cop car was chasing them."

>>
>>42522947
Have you seen what Batman can do? Bullets are no problem if he has the advantage, which he usually does. Unless we prepare for every possible scenario, we won't be able to defend ourselves unless we get Joker-tier hand-to-hand. Or at least get good at avoiding that shit, like he did.
>>
>>42523006
You will never beat batman at hand to hand, ever, period. There is no point in learning it when a gun is more useful in more situations.
>>
>>42523121
Beating him, and knowing enough hand to hand to survive are two entirely different things
>>
>>42522726

A few hours later, and you hear laughing coming from the main hall. You head out to meet your gang.

Dottie and company are laughing and drinking, celebrating a heist gone right. Dottie herself has so many necklaces piled around her neck that Mr. T would find it in bad taste. The goods have been dumped in a big pile, and she's lounging in it.

"We did it boss!" she says. Her people cheer.

You wish you could join them.

"Where's Knock?"

"Right here," you hear him say, as he somberly walks down the stairs. His men are carrying duffel bags you know to be packed with jewelry.

"Anything from the other van yet?"

The smile falls from Dottie's face. "Wait, what happened?"

Spike waddles in. "Apprehended." There is disgust on his face.

He looks at you, "News reports say four jewelry stores got hit, and some of the perps were 'apprehended.' That's what they always call it, right? No more details, no more questions...

It's the Bat, isn't it?"

You realize he's feigning ignorance to tell you this in front of the men. You feel a bit more respect towards the fat kid; he's smarter than he lets on.

"Batman..." As you say it, the temperature drops in the room. Dottie removes the necklaces and returns to her seat, lighting up another cigarette. Knock smashes his fist against the wall, and heads back upstairs to the park. Dwayne places a hand on your shoulder.

3 out of 4 isn't bad, and you didn't lose any of your friends, but it hits you harder than it should. Batman is one step closer to you know.

Friends? Is it even safe to call them that? Two weeks ago these people would have killed you where you stand.

You have a lot to think about. Quietly, you get started sorting the goods.

You have no idea how much the jewelry is worth. You aren't sure if it should be sold as-is, or if the gold should be melted down and the jewels pried out to make it less identifiable.

You sigh, and sort the piles as best you know how. Luckily, the vaults Dottie's crews busted had a much more useful prize: cash. $750,000 dollars total. Not enough to retire on, but enough of a nest egg to have leverage against Top Hat.

"Hey Boss..." It's Dwayne.

"Oh, hey. I've been counting the score, I'm not sure abou..."

"Boss, you took it pretty hard out there. You gotta realize that losses are a day to day thing in this job. You didn't even know any of those boys. Knock did. And once he works off his steam he'll be right back here tomorrow.

One of these days it could be one of us, chief. You gotta remember that. Old boss never would have let a loss get to him." After saying his piece, Dwayne leaves you to your work.

You feel worse than ever, but you understand what he's saying. None of these people expect to retire at an old age.

Quietly, you say to yourself, "Maybe...maybe I ain't the old boss."

You try to finish counting out the loot, but your heart isn't in it. You call Dottie and Dwayne back to your room.

"Dwayne, what's the most expensive, overpriced bottle of pig swill we've got in this joint? We're going to have a drink."

Dwayne nods, and returns with a bottle of clear liquor and three glasses. The label has rubbed off the bottle, and made it unidentifiable, but the burning smell indicates it is strong.

Dwayne fills the three glasses, and you ask Dottie for a smoke- your first since your rebellious high school days.

"Today, I ordered the death of two cops, and two rooms full of shopping clerks, and now seven men are facing nice long prison sentences because of me. And I've got a nice big pile of green to show for it. I gotta admit, this is not how I saw my month going."

You can't help but laugh, and empty your glass.

When the three glasses are empty, you look to your companions.

"I'm not the old boss. I'm the new boss. We're getting our people back."

They both try to speak, but you silence them with a motion.

"And I've decide it's time to break in the coat. I'm going in personally this time."

Over the next few hours, you are as a man possessed. With limited interjections from your two subordinates, you begin to explain your plan...

Oh shit, I didn't think we were actually doing this. Okay, umm...

Should we swap out roles? We go in quiet, or should we do it like Old Mistah J and take the spotlight so everyone else can get to work?

You explain the plan to your crew: another distraction ploy, but this time, a chain of them, leading them all over town.

While the police are chasing your trail of bomb threats, you will personally attack Gotham jail, gassing them and breaking out your men.

"The Joker Venom?" asks Dwayne. "Won't we run the risk of poisoning our own men too?"

"No, or course not. I figured we could use a laughing gas or something."

"The old boss never was much of one for non-lethal methods. We've got a few more capsules of laughing gas like we used at the store, but not enough to take out a whole building. We need something stronger, and a lot more of it."

"Can't we mix up a new batch?" you ask.

"The Boss did all the chemistry himself. There's some drug cookers in the street guys, but nobody that can make what you're looking for."

"If you're serious about this," says Dwayne, "we need to work fast. They'll only be in the holding facility for the next few days."

Damn. That's three roadblocks. You need a chemist, you need to prep the distraction, and you need to plan the attack- all in three days.

"Then tomorrow we should...."

>what do you do tomorrow?

>If you choose a chemist, where do you look?
>If you want to prep for the attack, what do you do?
>If you want to bait the trail, how do you do it?

Remember, you have crew members you can assign to tasks.
>>
>>42524789
>If you choose a chemist, where do you look?

Gotham University, of course.
>>
>>42524789
Let's stop white knighting and use half lethal gas and half laughing gas. Bring gas masks for the men.
>>
>>42524789
>>If you choose a chemist, where do you look?
Call one of our college buds up. If we have any. If not just kidnap a professor.
>>
>>42524789
Get Knock on getting us a chemist, and a good one. And probably here >>42524849

After that, we need to prep, maybe with Dottie. Get the chemist on the bombs, along with Spike, and we, along with Dottie, fix up routes we'll hit.

Baiting...hmm. We're supposed to take the heat, right? Then we need something to keep the cops from solidifying to hold up one place. I said this >>42524339 earlier, but it's all up to you guys.
>>
>>42524789
Assign Dwayne to the bait trail. He used to work in shipping, he should be able to time out how long it would take to get from each location to determine exactly how long we have for the breakout.
>>
>>42524789
We could always disurpt the power grid causing localised blackouts that happen to cover the area where the detainment centers are then during the confusion before the back up generators come online cut the phone lines to the prison making it impossible for them to call out for help. Set up the fake bombs well before we make our video is played over a hayjacked signal. Hit the prison while batsy and the cops are busy and get out before anyone can know the difference. No need for knock out gass that way.

>>
>>42525044

>>
>>42524789
After we go through with this there will be no doubt that there is a new Joler. We might have to instill some fear into our rivals after this.
>>
>>42524789

"Tomorrow night, we have Knock hit Gotham U for a chemist. A professor, if possible.

Dwayne, you used to work in shipping. You know how long it takes to travel between each point in Gotham. Set up the trail to distract them for an hour. In Batman time. Any more and he'll get suspicious.

Dottie, you and I will plan the attack on the station. We need to get the police targeting us beforehand, so Bats is targeting the bombs."

"Boss, couldn't we have Spike cut the power to the station?" asks Dwayne. "Then we wouldn't need a chemist at all."

You shake your head. "Wouldn't work. The station has to have auxiliary power, and we'd still need to incapacitate the cops somehow. And a dark block gives Batman the advantage."

He nods.

"Tommorrow morning, I'd like your help getting some props together Dottie. This time, we hit them with style."
>>
>>42525277

You spend the next day with Dottie preparing for your attack. Within a few hours you've built a stockpile of costumes, and a pair of brightly colored cannons form the centerpiece of whole performance.

You're surprised by how fast the gang is able to pull all this together. "Where did all this come from, Dottie?"

She scowls. "Holly. I had to call her this morning; she had everything sent right over. She always comes through with this stuff; it's why the old Boss kept her around."

"She's the only one of you who hasn't been by yet. Any reason for that?"

"She always kept her distance, until she wanted something. I think she's still not sure about you."

Spike puts in a call to city hall. He called on behalf circus from out of town, who six months ago had filed paperwork for a parade. Imagine his surprise when he found that no one at city hall had heard of them! Although they insisted he was mistaken, the proper forms had been filed in their system.

They apologized, and promised that the parade would go on as scheduled, under police protection.

Everything is coming together. Later that night, Knock goes out with two of his men. His goal? To capture a chemist. It's not the first time the Boss has had him kidnap someone.

Knock drives up to Gotham U. It's late, but there are still lights on. Only the professors too deep in their work and students completing assignments at the last minute are still around; this should be a piece of cake.

"...If I had any idea what I was lookin' for." Knock pulls a clown mask over his face, and the three men get out of the car.

Knock kicks in the door and points his gun into the room. "KNOCK KNOCK!" he shouts. The three men surge into room.

Inside, a woman in her late 30s is standing in front of a whiteboard, completing a series of notes. Her hair is brown and tied in a tight bun, but streaks of grey are showing at the sides.

She does not turn. "Can I help you gentlemen?"

One of the men pipes up, "You're supposed to ask 'Who's There.'"

"I know 'who's there.'" She turns.

Her sharp features seem to have been taken from every teacher a child ever feared, like some kind of nightmarish ur-teacher.

Knock hated her instantly.

"Some more of Gotham's best and brightest. I don't know why anyone in this town is ever surprised anymore when someone in a mask decides to kick in their door."

As she talks, she tosses a number of papers and things into a leather bag. Satisfied, she grabs her jacket and walks to the men.

"Well? Let's go then. Joker or Riddler? They both dress you people the same."

The ride back to the base is an unpleasantly quiet one.

"See? Everyone expects me to be lethal, so why should I be? That'd be boring. Messing with expectations is the backbone of comedy."

She smiles mirthlessly.

"You're up to something. Alright, you'll have your chemicals. I'm...curious as to what you're planning. But I expect full cooperation from your men."

"You'll have it," you say.

"And equipment. And the raw chemicals."

"Of course."

The next day, you continue preparations. Dwayne has planned out his trail of breadcrumbs, and Knock's men are delivering them.

Both you and Dottie are preparing for the "circus" tomorrow. The men are given costumes, and though no animals were available, some large prop ones that could be placed around vehicles like parade floats were.

You are even able to find a couple fire eaters and other performers amongst the members; it seems that in gotham, talent filters down.

Professor Coal is demanding chemicals late into the evening; she was made aware of her tight timeframe earlier, and seemed to take it well. Her past analysis of the Joker Venom seems to have proved a stroke of luck; by replicating the Joker's own recipe but diluting the fatal elements, she is able to quickly create a non-lethal version.

Or...at least a less-lethal version.

"Does it work?" you ask.

"Of course it does."

"Have you...tested it?"

She laughs.

"I've produced enough of it in liquid form for your operation. The oxygen compressor in the lab should allow your men to fill your dispersal canisters. The liquid will pray out of the canisters as a mist. It's the best I can do with so little time."

"Well...Doctor. We'll see about your release after this mission." You're still unsure if you trust this woman.

She smiles again. "Of course. And if you don't come back, Batman will rescue me." She returns to her quarters. "Oh, and have the men fill the tanks OUTSIDE."

In the corner, the nightly news comes on. Spike tries to get your attention.

An angular-jawed man with a heavy tan and a grinning blonde sit behind a desk.

"Good evening Gotham. I'm Steve Haro,"

"And I'm Patricia Scott."

The camera focuses on the man. "Tonight. Gothamites are still reeling from the bomb scares of the last two weeks."

Switch to the woman. "But first, the circus is coming to town! The Green Flag circus is set to celebrate their arrival in Gotham tomorrow evening. Reports say a mixup at city hall nearly delayed the performance. Remember to plan your commute to avoid 5th Avenue to Main, and remember to go out to wish our new friends the best."

The gang begins laughing. Looks like you'll have an audience tomorrow.

The next day, you begin setting up for the parade. The men all seem on edge this close to the police, but you and the crew are able to keep things calm.

You begin the parade. Dwayne drives a green open-top car in the lead, and you sit in the back seat, dressed in a green ringmaster's uniform, with a mask covering your eyes and a false beard.

Dottie waving from atop a large artificial elephant, while Knock and some other men stand ready with guns inside. The twins pull the cannons on ropes; when you motion to them, a girl marching behind each cannon pulls a string, setting off a spray of confetti.

All the gang's other performers let loose. Motorcyclists weave through the parade, and fire breathers dazzle the crowd (while getting dangerously close to burning them.)

Clowns and dancing girls and acrobats jump between the cars and bikes.

At least you're giving the people a show.

At the first turn of the parade route, Spike calls in a report for the first bomb. By the tine the police arrive on the scene to investigate, you'll be attacking the station. Batman will be left to the bombs.

The second turn. You approach the station, and slow the parade to a stop.

The people are cheering as you dismount the vehicle and raise your megaphone. The twins bring the cannons to your left and right, and the rest of the band circles closer.

"People of Gotham!" you shout.

The people cheer.

"Thank you for your hospitality! Ever since I arrived in this town, you lovely people have done nothing but try to make me feel at home!"

Again, cheering. The twins begin turning the cannons towards the station.

"So I thought to myself- what can I give back to this community? Then, it occurred to me! Why not return Gotham's sons and daughters back to the arms of their loving parents?!"

You discard the hat, and tear off the beard. You laugh into the microphone over the screams of the crowd. The twins fire the secondary payload of the cannons, hidden behind the confetti. The front of the station collapses from the explosion as the singed confetti fills the air. Armed goons pour out of every float.

The police spring into action, changing in a beat from your escort to your attackers. There is a hail of gunfire. Your gang throws on their gasmasks, and you release the chemical mist from the canisters hidden in the floats.

The police begin laughing and convulsing, and fall to the ground. With the brunt of the police force otherwise engaged, you lead Dottie, Dwayne, Knock, and the twins into hole blown in the station.

>How do we enter?

Two of the firebreathers lead the way as you guide the small party into the station. The few police that managed to get close enough to the smoking crater in the wall catch fire, and begin rolling on the ground screaming.

You motion with your baton. "Well Knock? Knock! We don't want to be impolite!"

Knock hoses down the inside of the station with his machine gun.

"Knock, take the Dottie and go to the evidence locker. Light it up. All the cases that need it will have to be thrown out."

They nod and duck down the hallways, leaving you with Dwayne and the Twins.

"This way, chief." Dwayne guides you towards the holding cells.

As you round a corner, you come face to face policeman, his gun drawn. "GET ON THE Grrgh..."

He's unable to finish his thought as Lefty (or was it Righty?) grabs the man's head and slams it into the wall. You hear a crunch and he goes limp.

Finally you arrive at the cells. The boys are inside, one of the cells, still wearing their clothes from the heist and the smeared and flaking remains if their makeup.

"Boss?" one of them says. "Did you come to bust us out?"

There are 3 other cells in the room, each with roughly 5 to 8 people inside.

Dwayne readies his welding torch. "Well boss?"

>what do you do?

>>
>>42530431
Yes boys. I have come to bust you out. There was a parade and everything! Shame no one in here got to see it though.

Turn to the others. Well now time to decide what to do with you jolly fellows hmm? How about a cage match and the winner gets to get out of the cell? No wait that'll take to long. Everyone gets a get outta jail free card today!

>>
>>42530431

"We'll I'm not Batman, but I think this counts as a rescue." The boys cheer.

"There was a parade and everything!" The other criminals crowd around the doors of their cells as Dwayne starts cutting the lock. You motion to them.

"Hey, what about us?" Says a burly, greasy-looking red haired man.

"Of course. You boys too; I made a promise to your dear old parents. Today, everyone gets a Get Out Of Jail Free card!"

The cheers rise, and the criminals begin chanting your name.

"JOKER! JOKER! JOKER!"

Yeah, YOUR name.

Dwayne makes short work of the cells, and the Twins lead the way back outside. In the lobby, you meet up with Dottie and Knock, who are guarding the entrance. It's still chaos outside; while many of the gang have scattered into the alleys of Gotham as ordered, a few were to stay behind as guards. The police are taking potshots from a distance, but cannot approach due to the chemical mist- which is dying down. And once the riot police arrive with gas masks, you'll lose your advantage.

"See you later boys! If you need a job, look us up! Everyone else, to the elephant!"

Your small crew and the rescued gangsters pile into the back of the elephant-van, still spraying mist. On that cue, your remaining gunmen scatter.

Knock drives the elephant back to the hideout. The police are in disarray, so no chase occurs.

>meanwhile, in gotham central park, a Man in Black arrives at the lake. He easily picks up one of the large fat birds nearby and slips a small collar with a red blinking light off its neck.

You all arrive back at base in high spirits. Knock is ecstatic, as his boys all celebrate their rescue.

For the first time, you notice Dottie is covered in blood. She must see the look on your face, and smiles. "Not mine."

Dwayne gives your back a thump. "Hey boss... We got company."

It seems as though the greasy man from the jail had slipped into the van with your group. "Yeah, hey. Thanks for the jailbreak and all. Real impressive. Real... 'Hollywood' stuff.

Listen...I been lookin' for a change of careers. Did pyrotechnics. And so I'm sittin' here, and I'm thinkin'...These people here, they might be lookin' for somebody like me.

It seems the rest of the crew believed you brought the man along. No one seems concerned by the interloper...

"Alright Red, I like a good fireworks show. Welcome aboard. One thing, though: you have to wear the uniform."

He grins, showing his yellowed teeth. "Yeah, sure cap'n. Uniform it is."

Dwayne leads the red-haired man away, and Knock approaches you. You haven't ever seen him this happy.

He clasps your shoulder. "Man, Boss." He laughs, "that was crazy. I didn't think you had it in you.

And thanks for gettin' my boys back. Ain't no other gang that'd go through all that four five guys. They're gonna be talkin' about you for years."

He pauses. "Look...I know I gave you a hard rime up 'til now. But as far as I'm concerned, you're the boss until the Old Boss comes back." He returns to his men.

After celebrating for a bit, you head to bed. A job well done, you think. And tomorrow, it's on to bigger things.

The next morning, you awake just after dawn. The routine of preparing your makeup and suit has become nearly second-nature, and you're barely a month into your tenure.

You head into the main hall, where Dwayne, The Twins, Dottie, and, to your surprise, Professor Coal are all watching the news, where a description of last night's adventure is being given.

"The Joker's men, masquerading as a circus, released an unknown toxic chemical into the crowd. The chemical induced muscle spasms, and in some cases, seizures. Seven are dead, and 15 others are hospitalized. At least 7 police officers are dead from the ensuing gunfire, two dead from third-degree burns, and four from physical trauma.

In addition, due to the attack on the evidence stored at the facility, by current count police have lost evidence of over fifty-seven ongoing cases. The full extent of the damage has yet to be seen."

"A sad day for Gotham, Steve."

"That's right, Patty. And now, the weather..."
