Welcome one, welcome all to my very first GMed Quest Thread Revengeance Quest!Taking place six months after the death of Senator Armstrong at the end of Revengeance, YOU are a black-ops cyborg operative with a fellow squadron, performing work that ensures the safety of the general populace, while also combatting your own inner demons surrounding your modification. After all, remember the paradox of Theseus' Ship.Once all the parts of the original have been removed and changed, can you truly call it Theseus' Ship? Questions for later. The questions for now are:1) What's your ID on the battlefield? The thing that the Mooks will piss themselves knowing they'll have to defend against THAT?2)Your weapon of choice. No soldier goes into battle without something to combat with.3)Just how did you end up in your position? (This one I'll actually write up options for, otherwise they're all options made up by you folks and ultimately decided on by me.)[ ] My family had to eat, and so I had to become a soldier to help them.[ ] War's boring if all you are is flesh.[ ] BEING A CYBORG IS FUCKING AMAZING[ ] (Write-in Option)

>>422062971. Iskandir is confirmed our MC's callsign/alias!>>422062442. HF Halberd is confirmed our weapon! And damn near unanimously, BEING A CYBORG IS FUCKING AMAZING is our backstory. Some other preliminary information before we begin. You, Iskandir, sometimes Rome to those who aren't allowed to strictly know you, work for the extra-military organization SAFEHAVEN (unrelated to THAT Haven, trust me). You and your squadmates, Leonidas, Tell, Joan, and Alexander work to secure post-Patriot/Desperado technology to ensure no malicious groups use it.You're one of the few ones who can seem to crack a joke in the heights of your missions, but the others seem to appreciate levity in the face of death so many times in a row.NEXT QUESTION: Who's your main compadre of the above? Any of your squadmates, your unseen Ground Control, or even some new option are all viable.
>>42206485shit trust me im as noob as they come have mercy on me

>>42206665They dont allow us to use guns, and its the future. Just go with it
>>42206665The normal stick could be used like a Telescope stick. For changeable reach an' stuff
>>42206665The senator was nanomachines, son.A weapon's a weapon. Rule of cool, ect.
>>42206665Doesn't have to be a normal stick. It could have all sorts of gadgets built into the shaft. Maybe it's a made of CNT muscle fibers, lets it shift its length and center of balance to optimize strikes. Or maybe there's a linear motor running down it, and we can use the spike as a pile bunker. Maybe the shaft breaks apart into a bunch of robotic drones. This is Metal Gear Rising, and we're a quirky miniboss. I sincerely doubt we're not going to have a gimmick weapon.
>>42206724It's still something that the average mook could just grab.If a mook can grab it, a badass boss could EASILY do so.>>42206718Bruh, pls.GUIS!>>42206752Halberds aren't cool, though, mang. And Armstrong got killed anyway. >>42206648Waffles, fuck off, I know it's you.Anyways, we're tied between Tell and Alexander at the time of writing. The only solution...THREE-WAY BRO PACT.On the Squadon, your two strongest allies in the field have always been Tell and Alexander. Tell, with his quick hands and hawk's eye can pick off opponent's from hundreds of yards away. He's drier than the Sahara, but sometimes that's the funniest thing while you're unwinding back at HQ. You and Alexander seem to be the only squadmates he talks to outside of missions, where he's otherwise calm, collected, and occupied with training and upkeep on his cybernetics.Alexander is the complete opposite, as a crude, boisterous man as imposing socially as he is physically. You actually decked his smug ass on the first day.It was friendship ever since, kicking it back and letting Alexander charge in with shield and lance in tow, while you used him as a springboard to deftly cleave operative's into quivering meat.Your competitions of one-liners and bravado have made you both a favorite even to the people back home at base.no you're not gayNext up, and final thing before we truly start: has there ever been someone, man, woman, or something inhuman entirely, that's beaten you in your past? What are YOUR demons, Iskandir?

>>42206922We were part of the security detail guarding a sick old man, a retired officer. He wasn't even conscious, a persistent vegetative state, but he still had enemies gunning for him. We failed him. Some operator out of nowhere took out our team like we weren't even there, kidnapped our charge, and murdered him in the middle of a graveyard. It was disgusting. Who would do that? It brings up that awful moment where your entire body felt dead, you were nothing but a head attached to a body--We don't think about that.LET'S BEGIN FOR REALSIES.---HQ wanted you and the rest of the squadron on this boat, protecting what now can only be called scrap metal.Scrap metal of what was once EXCELSUS, but scrap metal nonetheless.Watching over the railing to the tossing sea, you're honestly more than a little miffed that you're put on glorified security detail. Still, what pays pays. You look out behind you to the ship. Tell is on top of one of the security crates, twisting himself into some meditative pose, his HF bow lying beside him.Joan is chatting it up with a female sailor by the way to the boiler room. Her hammer is still firmly clutched in one hand.Alexander is over by the starboard side opposite you, shadowboxing and occasionally 'defending' with his shield. As for Leonidas...the man's nowhere to be found. What do you do?
>>42207359Search for Leonidas. The dude always tries to skimp on the Job.
>>42207359See if we can see any fish.
>>42207359This is where you would usually list options for us to pick from, one of them usually being >write inTry to use the HF halberd as a fishing rod to pass the time.
>going to suggest a rapier type weapon, high frequency or energy based>go take a shower first>A HF Halberd winsEh? A halberd is a bashing, stabbing, and chopping weapon, all of those aspects are hindered by the fact that the haft will contact the target and stop it before it go entirely through something large, so why even make it specialized for slicing with a HF enhancement? It can go any further than the length of either blade or hammer portion. With Raiden and his sword, the whole leading edge can cut, and it never grows thicker or dull along the way like a HF halberd would.Maybe I'm sperging a bit hard on the weapons like that anon above, but, shit, guys, a halberd?Points for the fact that no one would use it, but, there's a reason no one would use it.I guess that's what I get for taking a shower instead of posting first.
>>42207579You forgot about comedy points. We can try to fish with a halberd. You can't with a rapier or katana.
>>42207437>>42207417Fishing it is.(Also, yeah, minor fuckup on my part. Good thing it can get rectified early, eh?)Taking some spare nearby fishing wire and collecting a hook from room just before the boiler (naturally saying hello to Joan along the way), you make a fair makeshift rod.Real men don't need bait to attract their prey, only raw power behind the cast. With a powerful motion, you send it flying out past the boat, and so you wait. You also realize you'll have to pull up on your halberd really hard to get anything you catch, and it's far more likely you'll lose your weapon than get something resembling lunch.> Fuck it, press onwards!> I should find something better to do with my time.> HQ's been a bit quiet, maybe I should check in...> Write-in

>>42207660Well, if the rapier has a proper casket guard you could loop the fishing line through it, then drive the blade into the ship, or slip it between the railing, then just chuck the line out and pull on it when you have a bite.We have metal fingers, it wont dig into our lack of skin if we loop it around our finger. But, I mean, this is entirely theoretical.

You can just sense it.As you prepare yourself to start your nautical battle, you remember it's been over an hour since HQ called in. You've never been the worrying type, but today just seems a little bit different.Better safe than sorry. You tap your earpiece briefly, opening the commlink."Iskandir here. Checking in, everyone okay?"There's a momentary buzz of static, but you get a response."Everyone's fine here, Iskandir. Are you hurt? Is the mission compromised?"You grin, beginning to pull up on the makeshift-rod, grunting a bit suggestively into the microphone on total accident."I'm doing just fine, Angie." you say, licking your lips as you await your challenger's rebuttal."It's Angel, Iskandir. You gotta be 'squidding' me!" You grunt lowly, before puffing out more air in bursts, sounding like...You get the idea."Are you seriously making comments about fish while you're--""FISHING!?" You exclaim, lifting your halberd to the heavens above, sending a whopper of a catch your way, a massive black sea bass, easily the size of your torso. "WHY, YES, I AM!"With second-by-second motions, you remove all accessories from your halberd and leap into the air, swinging your halberd around in a slash that sears two halves of the bass by the inside, both landing near Tell and interrupting his concentration."Iskandir!" He shouts across the ship, "this mission is no time to be misusing your weapon! It is your tool, your extension of the self!""Tch, yeah." You reply, walking over and retrieving your catch's remains. "An extension of how fucking awesome I am."Tell groans and returns to his meditation. >>42208316>>42208271>>42208171>>42208340Your mind wanders back to your missing teammate. That's quite a bit of concern. For as much bravado as you put out, Leonidas could be considered the real leader of the team. The man's picked you up any time you couldn't get up yourself, and his mid-war speeches have driven you to cut harder and move faster than you ever have before. So finding him is pretty important."Tell, you seen Leondias anywhere? He's been out of my sight since we got on the boat, now that I think about it.""He's down in the boiler room, if I recall correctly." he says, in a measured tone, not opening his optics to answer, or even emote. "I do seem to remember him saying he wanted some 'peace and quiet' to think. Perhaps that's the reason why you haven't seen him, mm?"Damn, Tell knew just how to be smug enough to hurt, but enough of a friend to be pretty likable. >>42208484>>42208607You tap your earpiece again, getting into communications."Leo? You still alive down there, old man?""...Do you always find it necessary to infringe on my privacy, Iskandir?"You cover your earpiece, whispering to Tell. "He's a little grumpy when he hasn't had his nap.""I heard that. Have you something more important to say? Otherwise--""Caught a huge fuckin' fish!""..."You hear a slow clap on the other end."I commend your fishing skill. Now go back to guard duty.""Listen, Leo, don't you find it a little suspicious the job has been so lax? We're carrying the corpse of the machine a guy who was going to assassinate the President was using. This should be the flame all the moths gather to.""You...make a good point." He breaks into a brief coughing fit before continuing. "I'll be up on the main deck. I'm getting a bad feeling about this mission.""Over n' out, Leo." You say, sighing and looking around the ship. That's when something crests along the waves. Two massive claws reach out and break the water's surface, and you can see piercing orbs of red glowing beneath the surface, practically painting the ocean near starboard side bloody.Tell immediately leaps into action, retrieving his bow and notching it with an arrow."UG! UG spotted off the side of the show, appears to be a Leviathan-model! Iskandir and I about going to engage! Everyone else, eyes out for others like it!"You take one look at the metallic crab-beast rising to the surface, and another at your comrade.> Tell him to fire an arrow and ride that shit to the target!> Let him give covering fire. Very specific of you."He pulls back his arrow and lets it fly straight. You run after it, taking a flying leap and landing on the end with all the grace of a ballerina, and the bloodrage of a true warrior. The arrow strikes square between the two glowing eyes of the Leviathan, and you've got a prime spot to attack. Taking out your halberd and lifting it high over your head and even back further, you chop downwards like it's a log, causing a gash to split in the cranium of the enemy crab."ISKANDIR!" Tell shouts. You look behind you, as he's gesturing to his quiver and making repeated downward motions. You grin and decide to let the man have a spotlight for a moment. You'll be stealing it right back as soon as the next UG rises anyway. With a running jump off the claw of the Leviathan, now sputtering and smoking in the water, you grab onto the handrail and flip backto the deck.Tell, upon seeing your safe return, takes a handful of HF arrows from his quiver and places them in front of his bow, as they suspend in mid-air with electromagnetic energy. He breaths in slowly, as the arrows spread out into a vertical line. A moment passes, and he lets them loose, a trail of arrows landing up the head of the Leviathan, decommissioning it for good. You grin and pat your buddy on the back."Isk! Tell!" You hear Alexander over the radio. "Come on up by the front of the ship! Does that make any sense?)You run up, jumping right from the deck up the stairs to the bow of the ship. Everyone's gathered there, including the deckhands, as well as the rest of SAFEHAVEN. Alexander's evidently been looking for you."Isk, buddy, you might want to radio in and say the mission might have some casualties now. We just saw a flash of the other thing in the water...""What, another big UG?" you reply, scoffing and setting your halberd, leaning against it."...It's piloted, Isk. Great idea, Leo!"Shit, you should've thought of that one."SAFEHAVEN, move!"You and Joan rush out to the bow, jumping in tandem onto the railings and straight onto the MG. She swings for the arms, beating it back with a slam of her hammer, while you cut straight and allow yourself to slide down, ripping through the metal and exposing some of what the outer shell was hiding. You look up and see the 'head' of the beast baring down on you, a massive cyclopean eye with a red, piercing orb as the only indicator of a pupil. The Metal Gear reaches the arm nearest you over to Joan and peels her off, tossing her at the wall of the boat. With surprisingly dextrous fingers, it takes her HF Hammer from her collapsed form and crushes it within it's hand.Okay, the pilot knows what he's doing. "No one man, woman, or being beyond dares to cross the path of Iskandir and hopes to live!"You click the button just beneath the neck of your weapon, as it hums and the red markings indicating it as HF glow a deeper shade."When you meet the devil, tell him I sent you!"Swinging 360 degrees, you slash at the head of the creature.https://youtu.be/-5koepEEiYU?t=1m5sWith a deft, burning cleave, your blade catches fire and burns through the metal, leaving an odd-half left of what you originally called the Metal Gear's head. You look down to Tell, still in shock at the beast's head-half falling into the water with a deafening splash. He can only thumbs up in reply. That's when shit starts."Iskandir! Alexander, Tell, Joan! Get the ship out of here!" Leonidas frantically shouts over the commlink,"What? But we've got this guy on the ropes!" You say back. Something's starting to eat you out of fear now."I found the pilot...if you could call him that. There's...there's wires, and machinery all forcing him to do this. Someone else has been remotely controlling this!" he shouts back. Tell gets Joan over his shoulder down on the deck, looking up with concern at you."I don't get how that's something to evac over, though!" you shout back. "He's....He's loaded, Iskandir."Your eyes widen as you look down below and shout to Tell, an arm outreached in desperation."The hull! Get to the hull, Tell! It's going to blow!"> Get out yourself! Jump in the water!> Fuck it, you're not leaving the old man! Find the pilot and him!> I'll cut it wide open, dammit!
>>42210174> Fuck it, you're not leaving the old man! Find the pilot and him!> I'll cut it wide open, dammit!
>>42210326This. The rest need to gtfo, though. Isk is the only one playing hero.
>>42210377>>42210326You take one last wistful look at Tell as he runs with Joan in tow. The bastard better make it."With all due respect, Leo...never leave a man behind. We're no ordinary for-hire PMC assholes. We're family. We're SAFEHAVEN."You almost hear him laugh over the commlink."Drinks are on me if we make it out alive." he says. There's a resigned sadness in his voice you can simply feel. You raise your halberd up high, the farthest back you've reached it in all your career. Holding it in place, you reach a hand quickly to mash the button beneath the blade, the halberd's entire body growing hot with each press. As it begins to sear your metal hands, you know it's time. You swing, riding the momentum and force all the way down until you fall through to a cavity within the Metal Gear, to the cockpit. Sure enough, there's some sorry sonuvabitch locked into a macabre contraption, moving him like a flesh puppet. If there's one thing that pissed you off more than anything, it was this sort of manipulation. You ready your halberd once more to swing, before Leo presses a hand to your chest."Iskandir..." He gestures to the puppet's chest.0:00:0.In his final moments before the blast, he looks at you with the light approving smile you remember you father gave you when you won your first baseball game, or caught that tuna all by yourself. The tears somehow sting hotter than the explosion as you make one, final, futile swing. The world turns to flame and melting metal, and as you slip into unconsciousness, maybe even death itself, you feel the ice of the water sting you.Something that sounds like helicopters welcome your drift into sleep.---There's a faint tickling of music as you come to. A song you know.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bmDakhg45rkYour eyes open with a start, as your body jerks awake.A man you've never seen before smiles at your awakening. (cont.)
>>42210174I vote>>42210326Also i tried drawing Isk but fucked it up
>>42210504You notice immediately there's the same emblem on the Metal Gear on his jacket. Connecting the dots, you flail towards him--only to discover the chains. Which soon becomes a discovery of something worse for you. It's not just any chains.Chains to an operating table.Oh no, no no no."And out of the wreckage comes the golden boy himself. You'll be far prettier when you're done, my boy...beautiful, even." A smile is hinted at his thin lips, before he turns and switches off the iPod dock playing your awakening music. All hint of humor leaves his face as he turns to some mechanic-cum-doctor, talking about 'the conversion'. You finally see the emblem and can read out 'LOKUST'. It's a humanoid skull with compound eyes, much like a fly, dripping mysterious green liquid from it's orifices.Once, you might've had hope of rescue, or better yet, breakout. That hope is gone. Gone in that ball of fire that landed you here.As you struggle futilely against your chains, the man in the jacket grows tired of the noise, it seems. He grabs a crowbar off a nearby table, smacking you and beating you until the pain forces you into another slumber.(I think that's my last plot post for the night, guys. It's about 3 AM where I am. Still, loving the turnout this got. You guys are fucking great.I'm open to some suggestions to do better or plot out more. If you guys wanted to use the rest of this thread as brainstorming/wishlisting, I'd love to cherrypick the best shit.I'm thinking roughly Tuesday/Wednesday night EST will be Chapter 2, if you'll have me.)
>>42210570This is not the ending I expectedholy shit isk
>>42210570well that got dark fast thanks for running boss
>>42210612>>42210607I SWEAR THIS IS THE SETUP TO YOU MEETING YOUR QUIRKY MINIBOSS SQUAD
>>42206164>can you truly call it Theseus' Ship?Yeah so long as Theseus owns it.
>>42210625WE ARE CHAINED TO AN OPERATING TABLEAND THE ONLY OTHER PERSON HERE IS SOME KIND OF SUPER PERVI AM WORRIED FOR ISKANDIR'S SAFETY!
>>42210628The idea behind the thought experiment goes a little more detailed than how I wrote it.Basically, is identity ownership, or is it what the identified object is made of physically?I wanted to explore that in a transhumanist angle for this thread as an overarching theme. As long as I don't, you know, fuck it up.>>42210651you are an adult
>>42210570>It's a humanoid skull with compound eyes, much like a fly, dripping mysterious green liquid from it's orifices. Is that the doc?
>>42210670I'm not an adult enough adult for this. Iskandir requires a better adult, preferably one that will remove the strange badtouch man. Also most of Iskandir is technically not 18 years old yet, assuming. Thus I give you a checkmate!
>>42210704So it is for us then?Kamen Rider?
>>42210711Well, the Winds of Destruction had that as their theme. So this Quirky Miniboss Squad must have...
>>42210731Not Kamen Rider, winds, winds were their theme. It's insect shit. It's Revengeance Kamen Riders but more badass
And out of paranoia that the thread would be lost to time, I slapped it onto sup./tg/.I'd say we made it, guys, but I'm still nervous. But I really can't thank you enough. A Quest is nothing without it's players. And like I said, feel free to echo chamber cool shit and ideas, I'd love stuff to implement besides my own. Hell, SAFEHAVEN's squad names literally got made up on the spot because our MC was named Iskandir. That's the power you have, you know? But again, see you soon for Iskandir's quests and trials and tribulations and all that.
>>42210901I'm still waiting to see if anybody has any ideas for what our gimmicky bullshit will be. The best I've been able to come up with is 'Halberd can split into connected segments kind of like L'etranger'.
>>42210969If enough people agree on it, the Halberd can be considered lost to the seas since our capture by LOKUST.Other weapons with easier/more straightforward gimmicks could help. That, or we could Raiden this shit and have multiple ones we pick up over the course of it all.
>>42210969>>42211018Despite the filename and content, it is something.
To be honest, I was hoping to go for hammer as our main weapon this thread, but the notion of the Patriots told me so free will made me ask you guys.>jet hammer is always still an option u gaiz
>>42211144Could go with that triple HF blade buzzsaw idea and extend it to the wrists and ankles. Now you can move around with roller blades and you still have your hands free for a sword.
>>42210969>>42211018I kinda like the halberd, even if I didn't vote for it. The arsenal idea works too, the right weapon for every job.As for gimmicks: microjets or explosive caps at the back of the blade for extra speed; a grapnel and cable that can shoot from the tip or base; momentum-driven capacitors to add some electric shock to our hits; and, of course, >>42208151 Helicopter Mode.
>>42211144I'm eternally going to be a fan of the idea of strapping a rocket to the back of a hammer, that's actually given me an idea for a gimmick.>Multiple arms, Asura/Mistral-style>Only use one/two of them to hold our main weapon, equip the rest with HF knives and then Rocket Peace them at the enemy
>>42211572Well, there was already a guy in MGR that used a giant rocket-assisted HF chainaxe.
>>42211606Was that the guy from the Bladewolf DLC? I never actually got an opportunity to play either of the DLCs.
>>42211698Yeah, Khamsin. The Winds of Destruction member so pathetic, a miniboss beat him.
>>42213853His mech and weapon were pretty cool tho>>42211572Perhaps later into the Quest, when we have more cyborg(exp) points the GM will let this come true
>>42215016DON'T FUCK WITH ME BOYS, I GOT SO MANY FUCKIN' ARMSSeriously though, I love the fuck out of Asura's Wrath, and I thought Mistral and Monsoon were probably the most creative of the bosses. I'd certainly count it in as a possible feature of Iskandir's conversion.
>>42215042So when can we expect the next chapter of our dashing cyborg adventure?
>>42215042OPHOW MUCH MURDER WILL GO ON.AND WILL THERE BE WAIFUING?WILL WE HAVE TO MURDER OUR WAIFUOR WILL SHE KILL US?WELL OP? I'm mostly joking. Did you plan the first thread or completely make it up.
>>42215127>>42215122Planning for right now is to start Chapter 2 tomorrow night, about 8 PM EST, give or take an hour or so. I'm moving into my college dorm, so I'm out for the majority of that day. I dunno what forced things I have to attend to that day, hence why I mark it up for being at night.plus it's easier to keep a thread alive at nightAs for murder: It's Revengeance, dude. You'll be hacking people down like weeds. As for waifuing, fun fact of the day was that if Iskandir was chosen to bother Joan, she would've...bluntly stated that she doesn't swing that way.As for waifus down the line...well, LOKUST does have a waifu or two, I figure.I planned the broad strokes, knowing that a lot of it should be left to the audience. It's the difference between 'look what I made' and 'look what we did together!', y'know?LOKUST's capture of the MC, as well as their Miniboss Squad were the first ideas I had for the Quest. That said, 75% of this quest was on the spot bullshitting off of your suggestions.
>>42215210What does our hero really look like?Is his metal full body like Raiden? How visible are the enhancements?for maybe drawfagging purposes
I know it's a bit late for this, but what kind of arrows (and bow) could a cyborg capable of suplexing giant robots be able to use? (Assuming the bow can also be made of crazy future shit such as artificial muscle fibers)Also some character needs nanomachines AND HF blades for a modular weapon with hardening capabilities. Maybe a boss.
>>42215277To be quite honest, I left extensive physical descriptions out and left it to the viewer's mind, just because the thread is so fledgling that it would be odd to not get more of a consensus on Isk's looks, you know? That said, I can confirm Isk is pretty much full cyborg from the neck-down, and unlike Raiden, he doesn't have much qualms about it.>>42215286Well, Tell's bow is made to be able to fire HF arrow spreads via magnetic suspension and eventually firing them out the same way. He can get more creative/analytical with them if he needed to say, aim and eliminate three targets simultaneously.I think we can kind of throw ideas at the wall and see what sticks in regards to drawfagging.
>>42215321I guess I should have been more specific. What could the maximum size/weight of one of these arrows be in universe? The maximum height of the bow prevents telephone pole-sized arrows, but would cyborg strength allow for the carrying of a ballista whole outdoors? Just how utterly ridiculous could a MGS cyborg using arrows possibly be?
Aren't you suppose to be doing CoK with Chuckles Eail?
>>42216434...What?>>42215862Well, I think the nature of magnetic suspension in release such as Tell's bow opens up the range of arrows a lot.And by range of arrows, I mean 'if you can lift it, you can fire it.'So basically, while Tell is limited to something on-par with the average size of regular arrows, only HF versions, a Raiden-style protagonist could easily mash, say, a guardrail and turn it into a makeshift spear to be launched via the bow.Good idea y/n?
>>42217185He would need a big bow
>>42217396Extending bows certainly aren't out of the question.
>>42217396So the question then is, if you the Tell's height as a size restriction on the bow, what materials could the bow be made of on the setting to also increase its power? I'm not to familiar with the related cyborg lore, but couldn't their muscle fibers and armor alloys be used to make one hell of a bow, even for a regular human? I mean, if a cyborg's punch can be as powerful, if not more so than a jackhammer, what could that tech do in a bow?Concrete walls and most armor would probably be worth shit against that, right? (Even in universe with HF arrowheads)
>>42217517I believe the cyborg strength would increase your power to launch the bow, meaning what you fire hits harder and hits faster. Adding in any kind of optical upgrade, and you've got a hell of a sniper.Admittedly, bows haven't ever been portrayed, but cyborg tech relegating to a bow can definitely mean it could extend and/or carry more weight on it's arrow shots. And the arrows/ammo can definitely pierce standard Mook armor or walls.
As far as MC gimmick goes, if sticking with the halberd, maybe small EMP/shock element on the business end? So if someone is too close to the blade, even if it missed it could still short an elbow or something.
>>42217562Since we have a Halberd can we Name it Sky scorcher after the one true Husbando. Lu Bu?Also I'm surprised none of the anons made a joke about that.
>>42217517To prevent going into full silliness territory, something like this perhaps?
>>42218045>full silliness>this is the game that launched DON'T FUCK WITH THIS SENATOR into a meme
>>42218067I meant as in "silly enough to be believable" type silly.
>>42218112Oh, definitely. This isn't Gurren fucking Lagann here.cuz we're not a bad animeMGR had an excellent sliding scale of spectacle that I want to be able to match here, even if it's just a side-ops weapon that you pick up probably from Tell's charred waterlogged corpse
>>42218150That's also what I really like about Metal Gear in general. It's got just the right amout of weeb and westaboo to not be obnoxious.RIP brave soul
Make to halberd have a bearded ax-head, making it barbed. Stab it into someone without it being on HF, twist, then pull to embed the ax head as a barb. Whatever you just stabbed is now the head to a giant fucking hammer. Want your halberd back? Turn on HF and cut right through the thing you stabbed.
So, just as a general question: does just about all the audience agree we should get side-arms from things like minibosses (Monsoon's sai and L'Etranger, things like that?) I think it marries the notion of people wanting to keep the halberd while also appeasing those who want variety or a different main weapon entirely.
>>42218277As long as we get a high-frequency cestus pair, eventually.
>>42218277We could turn the Halberd into a rifle or something.things about six feet, could insert a clip and instead of the spear point it's a gun barrel. Sort of Like the Custodes from 40k
>>42218277Yes we should get extra gear.
>>42219340>>42218324>>42219015>>42218244All sound good. Consensus (as of who's posting right now anyways) sounds like side-weapons and some upgrades to the Halberd are in order.More questions, because I'm endlessly curious about audience reactions: how far do you want Iskandir's connection to the squad to run? I know this sounds quite obvious, but depending on how important you view it to be, elements of SAFEHAVEN can rear their heads in the future. Some moreso than originally planned.Personally, I'd love for a heartwrenching battle as you fight off your LOKUST conversion while your squadmates hardly recognize you as the practical sibling to them that you are, but that's just me.
>>42219557If you look at Big Ajax, he used a huge shield while his brother Teucer would fire arrows. Ajax would move the shield that covered both of them aside for a moment while Teucer fired, and they picked off many officers that way. Alex and Tell could easily have been doing something similar, with us serving to keep the enemy from swarming the pair while they worked. Any time someone would try to pin us down, Tell pinned them to the far wall. Anytime someone tried to get around Ajax's shield, we'd be there pinning them to the ground. This does mean we'd need to be an agile sumbitch, but being fast enough to reach cover even when being blindsided isn't the worst design out there.
>>42219722Iskandir essentially works as the agile butcher while Alexander is better at covering teammates and making the occasional raw-power push, with Tell working as ranged attacks.Joan was around for additional melee support, and Leonidas was simply the best leader SAFEHAVEN's seen. Even in age, he slid seamlessly from conventional warfare into the new age of cybernetics like a glove. He also slipped into that explosion-y death like a glove too.
>>42219796PERFECT! Joan would be our backup on the front lines, but things never quite meshed with her because we did the job she's done for so long better than she ever had. She's always been more than a little jelly, and her relations towards the rest of the team deteriorated as a result.Leo was the papa bear towards everyone, a sponge that kept soaking up the various drama the team had, however his own reluctance to share his stories kept him from getting too close to the rest of the team. Given how many good people he's had to send to their deaths, he half-prefers it that way.
>>42219891The man's looked at you more than once and said the wrong name, before stumbling over his words, apologizing, and shoving you out of the room before you could question it.Truly, you got the feeling that he was one hole you couldn't dig to the bottom of in your lifetime.Joan definitely feels challenged by you, and there's definitely a running contest of one-uppings between the both of you (think keeping a kill count on Mooks during a wetwork mission). At the end of the day, you probably never truly hated one another, and you in fact always at least checked up when someone went in for repairs. That bitch still stole your kill on that terrorist leader though, and that's unforgivable.
>>42220001Welp, I'm cool with it. Just need other anons to give their approval.
Whoever the boss in this scenario is, we need to beat the shit out of him with our bare hands.
>>42218277>Getting sub-weapons from minibossesHell yes. Also, really surprised this thread's still up. I brought up the Asura/Mistral thing, but since the thread seemed pretty dead I decided to just go to sleep. Wonder if it'll last all the way until the next one?
>>42220218Granted, I'm lurking my own thread like a fucking no-lifer, so that's a big contributing factor.
>>42220204you mean our bare unlockable cyber claws
No, I mean our bare motherfucking fists.
Going out to eat with the fam as a last-day-before-move-in celebration, keep the thread alive, uh...Shit, the people involved with this thread need a collective name....Revengefriends?I'll be back in roughly three hours.I might start Chapter 2 tonight out of boredom but probably not cause I need to move in early
>>42221430Well all right man but the claws would make it more painful, just sayin.
>>42221430Depending on who/what he is, that might not pan out as well as you'd think. I mean Raiden, a guy who can THROW MOTHERFUCKING METAL GEARS, went all Fist of the North Star on Armstrong, and it barely did any damage.
Raiden didn't have Improved Unarmed Strike.
why don't we just upgrade our dick until we can cockslap every enemy into a bloody past. We can be robodick.
We can do that with a two-level Monk dip.
How many minibosses and what insects do you have in mind already?
>>42222524Spoilering it for those who want a surprise.SpiderScorpionDragonflyBeetle and ScarabAtlas/HerculesHornet (AKA you post-conversion)
>>42223693he's a tag-team boss with scarab
>>42223728Is Scarab egyptian/egyptian themed?Will we get a motorcycle?
>>42223757Scarab is the more analytical and collected, while Beetle is MORE DAKKA RIP AND TEAR personified. And it's pretty likely.
Is it too late to join?
>>42225900Nah, never. As long as you're read up, you can do whatever you please.
For anyone still lurking, I'm gonna start up Chapter 2 in a few minutes.I'm gonna break for sleep about 2-3 hours in, so find a way to keep the thread alive in the morning while I settle into my dormitory and I can return to you. Sound good?
>>42227070you might need to start a new thread, but we'll see what we can do boss
>>42227070>Quest finally starts>3 AmGood luck lads
i can't keep bumping myself guys someone else need to take over
>>42210742>It's Revengeance Kamen Riders but more badassI'm just catching up after seeing the thread in catalogue, but with that you have my undying love.
>>42217185>...What?Eail is a QM of several other quests that's been having vague ideas to run a Metal Gear quest.Although IIRC he was planning to go to earlier times rather than flat out MGRR.
>>42219557>More questions, because I'm endlessly curious about audience reactions: how far do you want Iskandir's connection to the squad to run?I'd like some very deep, yes.And that spoiler, all of my fuck yes.>>42220001Everything really neat here too.>>42227070Oh there's a new one already.>>42230991why, then?
