"...and of course, you need to wear it all the time and-""I am not going to- Why would I even need to wear it at all?!""So people get used to it? This is excellent! Noone will even blink when you become Queen!"Nin giggles, bouncing on her toes behind you, hands braced against your shoulders- You thought you had a problem with hyperactivity, but it's a drop in the ocean that is an excited moth, apparently. For all her energy- and the distraction that the current conversational topic provides- you're still on the job.Which means keeping an eye on the forest, keeping pace with the caravan, and generally being bored. You're not sure if you prefer the empty, relentless silence of your usual shifts, or the nonstop chatter of your friend. You sigh and roll your shoulders, adjusting your grip on your spear, one hand scratching idly at your nose.Your new armour is nice, at least. A bit odd. It'll definitely take getting used to.There's sensation there- muted and distinct from your actual sense of touch. You're fairly certain that the chitin is alive, just separate from your regular chitin? If that makes sense. But it most definitely is thicker, heavier and tougher than the regular stuff. Also, it in no way restricts your movement, so that's a plus. You threw a tabard on over the whole thing after a guard asked you if you were naked under it.In any case, you've got work and the happiest moth of all time to deal with.>One at a time: Talk to Nin. I want to know what new powers Lyra has
>Elemental Control (Fire EX): Rank 6>EXWhat's that mean, exactly? Just that it's super fire that's better than any normal fire has any right to be at rank 6?
Been thinking about weapons. Several times now, our monstrous strength has crushed our spear in our grip or bent it out of shape. That was mostly fine before, our Forge powers let us fix it no problem. But it's going to be different now. Our already freakish strength has reached ridicules new heights. We're going to turn that thing into a pretzel the first time we swing it in anger. We need a new weapon. One forged out of incredibly strong (possibly magic) alloys that can stand up to our treatment. We need to work on one the next chance we get. That brings up our old spear. More specifically, the Lightening Stone and its setting. I say we cut off the excess and reshape it into a sword for Nin.Nin is by far the most vulnerable of our group, being a valuable kidnapping target and all. So having a sword that can shoot magic lightening seems like a good idea.
>>41503711Luck: Rank ?Things seem to go in firebirds' favour.... Don't know I'm far more interested in this
Hey REQM, when are you gonna update Jin and Shezzy's profiles?
>>41503711>Elemental Control: Ice EX Rank 9>She has figured out how to blow a stream of cold air, now! Can flash freeze things around her, or maintain an aura of cold. She can even run on water now, her powers freezing the liquid before her feet touch down. With her new evolution, her cold powers have grown explosively- Things like flash freezing bodies of water or even calling a blizzard aren't beyond her.Sheszka strong.
>>41503735Its probably going to be a long time until we reach the city and have the material for reforging available.Once we are there, we should definitly spend some time making new weapons, not just for Lyra.>>41503762He already has.
>>41503735How about we don;t bequeath the queen's weapons to moth monarchists
>>41503762While you voted on the OP!HAHA!
>>41503762Going by the edit history, 12 minutes ago.
>>41503771It looks like only Sheszka and Lyra got new Blessings though.
>>41503735>We need a new weapon. My vote goes for a metal rod with a block of metal the size of a car on the end.
>>41503711It's a stronger version of the skill that's still at the relatively low level it was previously at, because it was merely upgraded through evolution and not levelled up through training. The hell is there not to get about it?>>41503788I can't help but notice that Sheszka apparently doesn't speak Plainspeech.
>>41503827>The hell is there not to get about it?It could just as easily be a advanced form of the skill overall.
>>41503827Damn. How long has that been missing?I need to add elfspeech to everyone, too.
>>41503850Jins Amulet also still has the entry of "Not hers just yet"
>>41503850Is our steel silk going to be noted on our charsheet somewhere?
Another question; Could Lyra meld the river metal from her first glaive with her pure metal magic spear?
>>41503735We could fill our spear with our metal thread. That stuff will be amazingly strong. Arrange it in the spear in hexagonal shape and it should withstand our strength.
>>41503883>We could fill our spear with our metal thread. Then it would still bend.
>>41503893That depends on the property's of the webbing. Does it harden? or could we make it harden? etc.We know our webbing will be extra strong. Its also easily on hand to experiment with.
>>41503850Pretty sure Lann got clothing from Elle before we left too, if you want to fill in missing things. Although admittedly that doesn't matter nearly as much right now.
>>41503916>That depends on the property's of the webbing. If it were so hard that it would keep the spear from bending, which is unlikely, then it would be so brittle it would break with a sufficiently strong hit and the thing would still bend. And thats assuming we even go through the effort of weaving a net this dense inside the spear, which even with metalbending is a pretty big effort compared to just making a better spear.
>>41503871I think that one was answered a long time ago. We can alloy the rivermetal with other metals, but then it loses its supernatural qualities, so there's not much point.
>>41503883Better, we could put a hook with a thread attached to it at the tip of our spear and have a line attached to anything we stab with it
>>41503942>go through the effort of weaving a net this dense inside the spearBesides having a hollow blade generally not being a great idea.
Yo guys, if we have such control over our chitin, couldn't we attempt to make weapons out of it? Also WOOT! Hive queen and spider quest today!
>>41503981In case the bears try to run away?
So, Mom has 'Motherly Concern; Rank 35' and seemingly gained a total of 4 levels through crying...Oh, and she has set out on a new adventure with Dad...
>>41504007>if we have such control over our chitinWe don't have much control over our chitin. We only have a ability that lets us grow a super-chitin armour.Though its not impossible there is something to let us grow chitin weapons too.
>>41504016That is already there for a long time, since we left the forest actually. You need to see dads and Lanns entries.Sara and Aria have left the forest already too.
>>41504016>she has set out on a new adventure with Dad
>>41504024The question is, can we grow spiked armor? If we can grow spiked armor we can fight dwarvish beserker style, which basically involves throwing yourself bodily at the enemy and moving around a lot with the intent of leaving your enemy as little more than a smear on your armor.
>>41503942Hence the hexagram arrangement, since that is one of if not the best load bearing shape. >>41503976I wonder if imbedding would work. Instead of alloying, put the river metal in Tiny strips/rods in the metal of the blade head. The natural difference in wear and tear property of the two metals should make it serrated with use. Allowing the effects of both metal types to affect the opponent at a reduced efficiency than the pure.
REQM, didn't Dad already modify and return Jin's magic Amulet? the Pastebin still has it listed as 'Not hers just yet'...
>>41504059>Hence the hexagram arrangement, since that is one of if not the best load bearing shapeHigher load bearing ability doesn't actually help here. It would help against the spear breaking a lot, but not against the spear bending.
>>41504072Hmm. But in the case of it bending, wouldn't we just reshape it again anyway?Since our power seems to be ask the material to take on a certain form, its not a very concentration consuming ability.
>>41504072>but not against the spear bendingI guess self-correction here, it would certainly prevent from bending beyond a certain extent, but it would still bend enough to be inconvenient in a fight, especially since we would need to reforge the webbing too.
>>41503976If so then that just means we need to increase our smithy skills even higher so the God of the Forge will go "Fine! Do what you want!"
>>41504094>wouldn't we just reshape it again anyway? After the fight certainly, but the original anon had suggested making something new that doesn't bend at all, well or at least not more so than a spear should. And in a fight were it really matters using our ability to reshape the spear can definitly matter.Otherwise we could just throw away the spear and use our spear-like legs.
oh god it's early and I just woke up. what are we talking about.Weapon design? Jeez, that's too much for me this early on.Have we ever eaten a cake?
>>41504132It sounds like we really need to trade some of our silk or silk goods for a suitable weapon core metal, like mithral or adamantine or some such.
>>41504144>Have we ever eaten a cake?Lyra probably has in her human life. But our companions most likely haven't, given how hard one is to make with the settings tech level.Another thing for the list.
>>41504158Its probably what we are going to have to do. Either that or we trade our service/silk against someone showing us a good place to search for deposits, since getting the metal out of the earth would be trivially easy for Lyra.
>>41504161Making cakes is easy anon. The only tech you need is an oven and to be able to make butter.Access to suger as well, but thats more trade links than tech.
>>41504174>Making cakes is easy anon.Yes, but transporting the various ingredients across days of travel distance, let alone a entire cake, is pretty damn hard and expensive with their technology, meaning lack of preservation and fast travel technology.
>>41504094>in the case of it bending, wouldn't we just reshape it again anyway? That's what we've currently been doing, but the problem is, we've just gained a MONSTROUS strength boost. We could very easily twist the thing into a slinky now, or just snap off half of it. Not a quick fix that we could multi-task while in the middle of serious combat.Just repairing our weapon each time isn't enough. We need a weapon that won't fail in the first place.
A thought occurs: we should really send mom the occasional letter while on our journey. You know, just to let her know we are okay and keep in touch a little. Perhaps downplay or skip on telling her the things that would just worry her more. Including info on our evolution would possibly cause rage, so that's a no-no.Doesn't the adventurer's guild have a system for mail? Or heck, Jin is so fast now she could probably go home and back inside a day easy.
>>41504198We would need to find a wizard to enchant said letters to make their way to her, or we would have no chance.Plus the confusion of getting winged letters flying at her every month or so would make me smile.
>>41504198yeah, the guild does. We'll totally send ol' ma letters.what worries me is her not recieving them, as she is busy exploring ancient forest ruins.
>>41504226>or we would have no chanceI'm fairly sure we arranged sending letters over the adventurer guild.

>>41505407>Its still a good idea to keep our old armor. Not really, we got a better armour we can conjure on command, putting the old one over the new one is kinda counterproductive and limits movability. There is no reason to keep the old one except to forge it into something for someone else.
>>41505453>Enchantment.Our armour isn't enchanted. And at that point we would be better off making a compeltly new one.And that is assuming this armour doesn't have its own magic properties.

There's something up ahead, which you suppose means you have work to do.But for now, there's at least two lazy people on you in dire ned of a workout. So-You'll just combine it, then. Nin only offers you a weird look when you drop her next to you as the wagons slow to a crawl. And her expression gets more confused as you rummage beneath your skull, finally emerging with a tight coil of snoozing snake. Thankfully, it only takes a few seconds of effort to get the reptile up and running. Her jaw stretches impressively wide as she yawns, fangs shimmering in the noon sun."Ahhhhhh- Lyra? Y'loo- You look bigger.""I got bigger, yes?""Eh- You did? What?""Here."You loop the snake over Nin's arm, much to both girls' growing confusion. "Wha?""Lyra?""You both need exercise, yes."Nin just blinks, but Ezzy is already making a 'here we go again' face."And with that in mind, I have a contest!""A... contest?""Yes.""Why?" Nin inquires."Because I thought it would be fun, yes? Whoever wins gets a prize."They both shrug. You scowl."Fine then, yes. Whoever loses gets punished."Oh, now they're paying attention."Nin, You have to get Ezzy off of you- Ezzy, you have to stay on, yes. No biting, no dust, now powers. Go!"Nin immediately grabs for the snake- But she's already gone, shooting up her arm even as the moth dances around, hands grasping at air.Despite the undoubtedly amusing show they'll be putting on, you head for the caravan's front.
Its almost like people are ignoring the fact another layer of Armor is still, at the end of it, Armor. For a very minor movement penalty, which we have trained around, we get two sturdy layers, instead of sole reliance on one.

>>41505843>Who cares, we're a giant metal spiderWe are not actually a metal spider, we only got a little bit of metal in the tips of our legs/finger.And clearly Lyra and everyone else cares, since a lot of thought was put into making her old armor work practically, so its obvious it does actually matter here.
>>41505843I care, I want to know what our armour looks like.
The reason why the armor isn't specified in shape is because of boob-plate vs realism arguments. Sperglords gotta sperg.

>>41505967No, the reason is REQM is often sparse in details and hasn't explained it yet. No one has a realism argument, we just don't know what it looks like.

>>41506050>I'm just under the impression it's the other way.Eh, might be. I went on the assumptiom its more practical armor because of how much detail went into our old one to make it practical, but it could be boobplate. We'll have to wait until REQM answers the question.

You hold position, as hard as it is.It shouldn't be much longer now till you're relieved, thank gods. And everyone on this side of the caravan gets to enjoy the show.Nin is running back and forth, sometimes hopping into the air for a few flutters of her wings, panting and wheezing. All the running probably isn't helping detach Ezzy, either. The snake for her part, is competing properly- clinging to limbs rather than trying to hide under clothing, though that'd be funny in its on way. As it is, watching Nin roll around on the ground wrestling with her own ankle is hilarious. The caravan is under way by the time a winner is declared- The moth raising the limp body of her scaly victim overhead, her own arms trembling under the minute weight of your friend. Both of them are boneless heaps when they reach you, simply lying across you wherever they can find room and concentrating on breathing or guzzling water from your shield. Nin throws herself across the space behind you, lying their with her arms and legs trailing after she hands over the snake- You retract a bit of armour from your throat, leaving enough room to wrap the exhausted competitor around your neck. Punishment- and reward, you suppose- can come later. When they're conscious enough to appreciate them. Maybe you can let Nin ask for something appropriate. Or pat her head. Though who that's a reward for might be up in the air. As for Ezzy, maybe more training? She'll probably do it all on her own after losing to Nin, anyway. You nod briefly to yourself, satisfied with your decision.

>>41506603>I imagine an arachnae forest goes through a lot of meat..Probably, thats why they got all the rules on maintaining a minimum distance between nests.I imagine if Niallas brood wouldn't have decided to move out on their own we would have had problems in a few years.

The rabbits, bears, wolves, crabs and other things we encountered prove that. REQM even said Dire-Chicken are a thing. Them evolving into more powerful forms probably has greater effects than just making them stronger. Wouldn't be surprised if it did things to their reproduction rate or growth rate of their young.

>>41506910>Still there should be some more basic critters! The basic critters are the ones that get eaten before they grow large and strong. Of course then you would need a relateively strong reproduction which means a lot of necessary biomass again... So, maybe they got magic hypernourishing cacti?

>>41507145>Doesn't mean that REQM can't adopt the idea of warring desert city-states using monsters as soldier-citizens.O- oh, God of Rule. Destroy the lives of countless people as collateral damage with no regard.I mean, Lyra is a nice person. She couldn't just leave things like that. She couldn't just turn her back on the situation without trying to fix things. And Nin would be the first to point out the obvious solution. Maybe another hundred threads from now, we'll transition into an Adventure/Civ builder Quest while we establish order over a collection of City States or whatever, then, 50 - 100 threads after that we can hand off control to the people then get back on the road.Guess we'll see what direction REQM wants to take things/what people vote for when the time comes.

So you aim yourself for the healer's wagon, and keep an eye out for the halfling.Or six. It doesn't take much for you to run into her, making her way to the adventurers' wagon. You decide to skip over the 'awkward embarrassment' stage, and go right for the apology bit."Cake!""Eh- Ah!""Hello, yes.""Hi."You take a breath, and launch into your apology. And she does the same."Sorry, I was just-" "I didn't really mean to say-" "And with the crown, yes-" "I'm just kinda scared of spiders, sorry.""What?""Huh?"You square off, standing quietly and waiting for the other to start again. You open your mouth, and so does she. You shut yours and wait, and so does she."You first." "Go ahead.""Be my guest?""No, no, I was the one who-""Should we just agree that we are both idiots, yes?""Probably. Kenzington already said it.""Mhm.""Uh- I do wanna say, though- I know you wouldn't eat me, alright? I just get weirded out by spiders.""That is fine, yes.""It's all the clicking and the eyes and poison. I had nightmares of being tied up and eaten.""It's fine. Everyone is afraid of something. I am afraid of trains, yes? I had nightmares as a child.""Trains?""It- It is nothing. I am going to go see Sheszka, yes. I am glad we had the chance to talk.""Me too. I, uh. I promise not to scream again if you grab."

>>41508202You nod and she heads off sheepishly, while you make a beeline for the appropriate wagon.Thinking about it, you're very glad you didn't have arachnophobia in your past life. That would have made growing up very strange, you think. The wagon is quiet as usual- The lady manning it is a bit quick to punish people making noise, so even the adventurers are careful around it.You wave to her before you poke your head through the back.Sheszka is the same as you left her- sleeping gently, her arm folded across her chest in a sling, sticks holding it straight. You're sure that broken or not, shed be able to snap the sticks like, well, twigs, but it's good to see her resting properly and healing. And hopefully Nin's treatment speeds it up further. You smile and reach back to pat the moth's head, and she murmurs gently, half-conscious after her workout. >Go hunting for a mostly empty wagon. It takes a bit of hunting to find an adventurer not unconcious or working, but eventually you manage to drag Eiryn away from reading prayer books."-I haven't memorized that one yet, though.""I know you are a paladin, but this seems unnecessary, yes.""Well, I suppose it's more a way to pass the time.""Then, can I bother you about the city?"He taps his lips twice with the thin book, looking thoughtful."I suppose- Though I can't imagine there's much to say about a city.""I lived in a tree, yes.""Oh. OH!""So whatever you can remember, it would help."He grins and snaps a salute, though his hand is still full of the little prayer book. "Well, lets see- To start, the guild is along the main street- Or rather, the guild takes up the main street.""That many people live there?""There's no shortage of jobs in the city. And if you can't find work outside, you could always try your hand at the dungeons.""Dungeons?"He nods."There's two in the city proper- One near the plains, and one that heads under the river. Ah, don't try and visit the river one without some way to breathe underwater. After three floors, it's all underwater.""I see? But if there are so many adventurers, then wouldn't the dungeons be empty, yes?""Ah? Oh, dungeons are living things, Lyra.""What.""They're... well, they're strange, I suppose. They shift and change, monsters come and go- Some are sentient, in a way, but they're all a prt of the dungeon, if that makes sense?""I- But- Where do they come from? What are they, yes?""People think that either archmages in the past, or maybe even gods made them- I've heard if you can clear the dungeons built in a god's name, you can even attain blessings. They don't come out.""I see. But sometimes they do?"He shrugs."I think it's happened once or twice. >>41509844I always imagined Lyra's arm tufts as being wilder than that. Yours look like those exercise sweat band things.
>>41509802Even if there was a large enough stray animal population, in the city it would be best just to go to an inn.It would free up loads of time for all the stuff anons want to do, instead of spending all day hunting.

>>41509844Here, have a treat as a reward.
>>41509887>in the city it would be best just to go to an innNah, not even remotly. It costs a masive amount of money to feed Lyra and her friends.Spending a hour or so to hunt is significantly better. Money is far more of a concern than time, its not like we are under any sort of pressure time-wise.
>>41509844Very nice, Thank you!
>>41509844It's really good
>>41509875We figuratively have money come out of our ass. if we were really desperate we could work at any job involving metal for a day.

>>41509844awesome. the only "flaw" is the left elbow's location. A+ anon.
>>41509948It is really easy for Lyra to make cash, isn't it?She just has to walk to any blacksmith, clothier, or general goods store and she'll leave loaded.Or hell, act as a Bodyguard.

>>41509948>We figuratively have money come out of our ass.Yeah, and we need that to buy spices, ores and supplies. All expensive enough. Lyras ability to produce silk is pretty limited, and then it costs time to find a buyer.

Don't we have a line of credit to the town? Or is it too soon? Also, would need to know how the hunting is around. Typically it's less in civilized areas. Or.. I guess the dungeon could be a buffet if it only has animals.
>>41509844>shiny insect eyesnice touch!
>>41510042>How much metal silk cost? We can sell it, right?Since its probably something completly new, there is unlikely to be a price for it, and we would first need to create the market for it by finding people and convincing them to buy it in the small quantities Lyra produces.>That shit is mithrill tier at leastWe have no idea, it might just be regular steel tier.
>>41510067>In a city anon. I was talking about while visiting the cities.I think you significantly overestimate the size of a medieval city, trip out of town takes a hour at worst.
>>41510046Eh, not really? Lyra doesn't really need money for her/our plans, we aren't going Kingdom-route this early in the game, and if you are talking about materials for our Forge-touching then we just go work at a Blacksmith's and purify ore and metal for them.
>>41510077Regular silk is already kelvar/steel tier. Maybe even stronger.
>>41510006>Spider silk that people go insane for>costs time to find a buyer.5 seconds at a Tailor's shop. we literally just have to say, "I am a giant spider, I have spider silk, I'll cut you a deal." even with the shipments from Elle, we could make money. or take a job thats high paying and get it done in a day.
>>41510109>Lyra doesn't really need money for her/our plansWe want quality metals and magic stones for our forging, we want spices, we want equipment and supplies for dungeon runs.Yes, we need a whole bunch of money for our plans.
>>41510067We could set up webs like a spider. Cities still have animals. We'll just have to remember to check the webs every day or two and cut down hobos.
>>41510077Maybe making light super durable armor? That sure sells well
>>41510131A run of the mill tailor can't afford buying spider silk because he doesn't have customers that have the money to buy spidersilk products, basic economics.
>>41510136Most of that stuff is pointless because Lyra is by virtue of being a giant spider that controls earth, fire, and metal very self sufficient.Unless for some reason she wants to wait around for months while very specific supplies are shipped in I guess, all the best elemental stones are found in dungeons anyway.
>>41510150>Maybe making light super durable armor?Probably a lot more economically feasible than selling the silk itself. We still need to figure out just how much metal-silk Lyra can produce though, because last time it was just one strand in the regular silk.
>>41510077>>41510150Especially when factoring in the fact that the city we're walking into was built on top of not one, but TWO dungeons, meaning there's plenty of adventurers looking for quality gear.
>>41510162He can just advertise it and some Noble will come down and pay for it.REQM has out right fucking -told- us that Arachne silk is the kind of thing that people travel for weeks to get at and pay ludicrously for.
>>41510168>Most of that stuff is pointlessNo it isn't? What are you talking about? Thats all stuff Lyra can't produce or easily acquire on her own, in difference to meat to eat.You are literally arguing it would be harder for Lyra to find edible animals than finding rare ores and magic stones.
>>41510195Do you really want to get in a gang war with our sister, who is the other prime supplier?
>>41510195>REQM has out right fucking -told- us that Arachne silk is the kind of thing that people travel for weeks to get at and pay ludicrously for.Yes, the sort of people who can sell it and need it.And those people now HAVE a supply of spider silk. That doesn't mean everyone would buy it, it means there are people who would buy it and they would go to extensive lengths to do so.But Lyra can't produce that much silk, and while it might fetch a nice price that doesn't mean its a endless money generator you imagine it to be. There are other expensive and rare things to buy.
>>41510198Once she levels up her earth and metal sensing, yeah, it kinda would be.Fucking Elemental-orientation magic, ain't it wonderful?
>>41510211But we'd be in entirely different markets! Elle's all about fashion and fancy stuffs and we have the adventurers and explorers covered.
>>41510198To be fair, good metal is fairly easy for Lyra to acquire, we just haven't actually tried asking the earth to send some good metal to the surface. The spices we do need to purchase however.
>>41510168We have just one elemental stone and it's very powerfull. If we can have one for everyone in the party and make powerfull weapons with them they are going to be safer. And probably we can buy really good elemental stones in the city.
>>41510168>self sufficiencyLet me teach you about Opportunity Cost, my friend
>>41510235>Once she levels up her earth and metal sensing, yeah, it kinda would be.No, because ore deposits are still a hell lot more rare than wild animals. There isn't even a guarantee that sort of ore deposit is anywhere near where we will be.>>41510249>To be fair, good metal is fairly easy for Lyra to acquireDepends on how common untapped ore deposits are.
>>41510254Or we could just find them as loot or as integral parts of powerful monsters.
>>41510136>Yes, we need a whole bunch of money for our plans.Again, I repeat, we literally shit money. Money is a non-issue for us.Our silk is worth a /fortune/. I'm just talking about our normal silk. Not even factoring in how much our new metal-silk might be worth.Remember the lady from the trading post. She told us a story about a Taylors shop that got a little Arachne Silk once. Once. Every Noble in the city was clamouring for some. There was almost a riot. The taylors were cutting up a silk tunic to make it into smaller pieces so they could sell it to more people.
>>41510264>There isn't even a guarantee that sort of ore deposit is anywhere near where we will be.Then it's kinda pointless because Lyra isn't going to wait around for it to be shipped to her location, if it's not located nearby then local people wouldn't have it any meaningful supply.
>>41510264This is a magical fantasy world with living dungeons and actually rpg mechanics. I doubt ore deposits are anywhere near as rare as they are in real life.
>>41510274>Again, I repeat, we literally shit money. No, Lyra can produce a very limited amount of a commodity, one which due to being expensive has a very limited market, which is about the be flooded by exactly that commodity since we arrive with a caravan carrying the stuff. You have this strange delusion it literally produces all the money effortlessly, but thats not how economics work. And most importantly, since we have no idea how expensive the stuff we want to buy is, it could easily be more expensive.
>>41510233A supply does not mean a large supply, knowing the shop lady, she is almost guaranteed to keep supply low enough to maintain the value.
There's also the dungeon angle. Would the monsters there be more friendly to a giant spider? Or are they always chaotic evil? Trading opportunities, or at least tips?
>leave a bit>come back>argument on economicsGuys, chill. we have enough in the guild coffers to pay for a night on the town or two.
>>41510289>if it's not located nearby then local people wouldn't have it any meaningful supplyIts a arge trade city in which many people who want high level equipment gather, yes, there will be people who have that kind of thing in stock no matter from where it will need to be shipped in.
>>41510317The monsters in dungeons aren't "real" monsters exactly- they're created by the dungeon to be guardians.
>>41510323>we have enough in the guild coffers to pay for a night on the town or two.We actually don't know how much we have in the coffers, nor how much a night in the town costs. Especially since we will need to pay for a place to live while there.
>rare ore deposits>forgetting there are dwarves
>>41510302While you are kind of right, we do have that fairly unique metallic silk, which is a whole different ballgame.
>>41510340Yeah, but how intelligent are they? Would they be more akin to automatons or would they actually have minds of their own? Would there be weirdos or friendly ones?
>>41510345>Especially since we will need to pay for a place to live while there. But we don't.Lyra isn't some dainty human or halfling, she's a giant fucking spider that was raised in a tree on a diet of sentient beings and bears.
>>41510291ORE are they?
>>41510352>we do have that fairly unique metallic silk, which is a whole different ballgameSure, but we produce apparently less of that. And selling it as finished product would be better once we find people we can convince of its value.
>>41510233>But Lyra can't produce that much silk,Where did you get that? She can make plenty of silk. She wrapped an entire pack of wolves once.>and while it might fetch a nice price that doesn't mean its a endless money generator you imagine it to be.It literally is. It has been expressly stated by the QM that's it's valuable as fuck. While we can produce more than enough to fund our needs, we could never produce enough to flood the market. There are /plenty/ of nobles and wealthy families that would LOVE to by some Arachne Silk.
>>41510362>But we don't.If people already want to pay for food, there is certainly way more reason to pay for a place to sleep.Since we know we aren't allowed to just raise a house in the city whenever we want.
Where did all these people shoving their real world pseudo-economics into my High-Fantasy Slice of Life Spiderbutt Adventures come from anyway?Hell, if they want to be anal about it, why isn't there a fucking magical stock exchange going on at the moment?
>>41510388>It has been expressly stated by the QM that's it's valuable as fuck.Being valuable as fuck doesn't mean shit if we have nothing to compare the actual value to.There are a lot of things that are valuable as fuck and cost a lot of money. And again, it being so valuable, is what makes it hard to find a buyer to begin with, because the local market is limited.
>>41510424>why isn't there a fucking magical stock exchange going on at the momentWhat makes you think there isn't? The basic principle behind stock exchanges is ancient.
>>41510435Step 1: Find Noble.Step 2: Offer to make Spidah Silk cloth for Noble, but monies must be exchanged.Step 3: Complete the exchange, continue being GIANT SPIDAH.
>>41510424how do you know there isn't?>inb4 WizCorp.Man, I just love this economics discussion.
Page 10 warning.
>>41510458>Step 1: Find Noble.>Find out noble has no need to buy spidersilk because its more convenient for him to buy spidersilk clothing from his trsuted tailor who has just acquired a stock of it>Try to find another noble>repeat
>>41510449Because Oakring would have had it's shit stomped in very hard by said magical stock exchange for temporarily mildly fucking up the textiles market.
>>41510361I think they're mostly automatons, or at least have large portions of their freewill overwritten with "dungeon protect"
>>41510435When was it ever stated buyers were hard to find?
>>41510487>>Find out noble has no need to buy spidersilk because its more convenient for him to buy spidersilk clothing from his trsuted tailor who has just acquired a stock of it>Trusting second hand when you can literally see the source of it front of you, and at a superior, possibly magical quality that has been unaltered by the hands of peasants.>Not just purchasing the silk and taking it to his tailor.
>>41510500>When was it ever stated buyers were hard to find? The shoplady told us that actually. She spend a lot of time finding people who could buy the stock of spidersilk we gave her.
>>41510424It's the obsessively pro-hunting fags. They have this weird aversion to doing anything other than hunting. For any reason. All the pseudo economics bullshit is just rationalization because the got their panties in a bunch when Anon suggested going to an inn while in the city, because game in a city is probably a bit slim and time consuming to find.
>>41510514Didn't take her a lot of time then, considering she never left Oakring, has no magical communication device, and was far, FAR too willing to trade credit for it.
>>41510513>Trusting second handYeah he probably trusts his personal tailor m8.
>>41510490Small towns wouldn't have had much impact in the stock exchange. Large cities, though, are another story. Also, your comment makes me wonder if wizards have their own exclusive stock market and Amazon-like delivery service, because magic
Anons discussing about selling spider silk.Anons you do know we can probably get paid for hunting giant monsters for our lunch right? We get paid to feed ourselves. Thus is the life of a giant spider.
>>41510533Pro-hunting has nothing to do with it, it's just aspies being aspies.
The silk argument is moot anyway. If not silk, then gems or rare ore. If not that then giant monster parts. If not that then dungeon loot. The sky is the limit.
>>41510514Fair enough, clearly Lyra has to get dirty, and by dirty I mean undercut the market price.Yes, I do know we should avoid doing this, I'm not being serious.
>>41510499wait, if normal monsters could have their wills overwritten by the dungeon, then doesn't that mean that lyra, being a monster, could have hers written too? shit
>>41510533>It's the obsessively pro-hunting fags.Nah its the obsessively pro-waste money in inns fags. They have this weird obsession with needing to buy food in inns despite all the problems it brings when we could acquire it ourselves. If it were pro-hunting then they wouldn't have said it would only make sense to buy food we can't get on our own.>>41510536>Didn't take her a lot of time thenShe explcitily told us how much stress it was. And i took months between us showing up wioth the first silk and until the caravan buying it arrived.
>>41510558No, that's how this one started, but.... yeah, now I think it's just snowballed into aspies.
Wait. Are people seriously trying to argue that it would be hard for Lyra to sell silk? I mean, I really hope we don't have to sell any because that will be at least 2 threads of boring as fuck tedium, but there's zero chance of it not making her easy money.
>>41510537Nah, he would probably go with the -actual- Giant Fucking Spider making SPIDERSILK that is right in front of him.Hell, worst case scenario is that he calls his tailor, he shows up, looks at our silk and notices the metal and how super durable it is, and buys MORE of it so he can make his entire wardrobe armored.
>>41510533>>41510558Hey man, don't look at me. I'm all for staying in an inn. I just was enjoying the rampant economics blunders
You can't help but stare at the book he's waving around. He hasn't memorized this one, he said. So he's memorized others? How many prayers are there?Wait, who does he even pray to?"Um. Excuse me a moment, yes?""Sure. Was there something specific?""Lots and lots of things. But first- Um. Are there temples in the city? Who do you pray too? Why do you need so many prayers?"He leans back a moment, sorting your questions, and he nods."Well- I, personally, worship the Great God of Light. As for the prayers- That's a, well. It's a hobby, mostly.""Paladin things?""Er. No, the other members of the order thought it was a bit strange. War chanting and the like are normal, but hymns are a bit...""Ah. Do you like singing?"He blushes.Sometimes, you think he looks more like a woman than half the actual girls in the caravan."That is, er-""It is fine, yes? Everyone has a hobby.""Mhm! Of course!""Oh- And 'Great' god?""It's the order's way of showing preference to our benefactor.""I see. Do you receive their blessing?""The head has, but the rest of us... We haven't distinguished ourselves, I suppose. Oh, and there's an entire district devoted to temples in the city."You nod, smiling."That is good, yes. I thought I should go and say thanks to the gods who have blessed me."He opens his mouth to speak, turning away for a moment and scratching his head awkwardly. You raise an eyebrow."Yes?""Um. People get a bit... odd. Over blessings. Especially on monsters.""Yes?""It would be better for you to keep it secret.""I will try, yes."He nods, clearly relieved. Just how weird do people act?"Then, what else is there?"You fold your arms. "Well- I'd like to know the names of the dungeons, please. And the locations of the inns with the best food. And the inns with the most food, for when the first ones run out.""Why would they run- No, nevermind. I know the answer."You smile. He snickers lightly, shaking his head.
>>41510582>Are people seriously trying to argue that it would be hard for Lyra to sell silk?Considering it was difficult for a trained and experienced merchant to arrange it, yes.
>>41510574I think it depends, we're all thinking of monster-people. what if there are actual monster monsters, like the gnomes? (I don't recall hose being sapient, but I could be wrong.)
>>41510373I don't know why you say we apparently produce less of it. The first and only time we made it was a fluke which taught us we could do it, and we have yet to actually test our limits as to how much metallic silk we can make.
>>41510596"The dungeons are, if I remember correctly- 'The River Queen's Lure' and 'The Plains of Hate and Gold'.""... A lot of people go to the second, don't they?""Mhm.""And do they find gold?""Mostly hate."You both laugh."Ah! And the city, is it big enough for me?"He waves your worry off with another laugh."It was built as a trade city- For everyone interested in trading. I can't promise every building will fit you, but anything busy enough should be built to hold every size of body. So long as you don't turn into a giant or anything.""No promises, yes."Your conversation falls into a lull, only the soft snoring behind you making any noise. You've got another question, but...Well. No way around it."Have you heard of the God of Rule?""Rule? That's not a common one. I think an ancient king had a statue, or something?""A blessing?""I don't think you understand how uncommon blessings are. You have to put your life on the line for your beliefs- Doing something with the intention of getting a blessing is a guarantee it won't happen, you know? Something like a blessing from the God of Rule would..."His voice trails of, his mouth hanging half open as he stares at you."Yes?"
>>41510599A trained and experienced merchant working in a town that was mostly self-sufficient having difficulty finding connections, what a shocker.
>>41510584>Nah, he would probably go with the -actual- Giant Fucking Spider making SPIDERSILK that is right in front of him.Yeah, he would go with the scary stranger that he has no reason to trust. Makes sense.God are you reaching hard now.>>41510584>Hell, worst case scenario is that he calls his tailor, he shows up, looks at our silk>And tells him he can make him a better price buying his supply because he wants to make moneyDamn do you have no understanding of how trade works
>>41510620He points at you, trying to work his jaw into some semblance of framing words."Y-you- You got one, didn't you?""Wh- What? No. No no no. Never.""Don't lie about that!""Just a little one? Maybe?""There's no such thing as a little- mmph!"Your hand closes over his mouth before he can finish the accusation, your finger at your lips as yo glance at the sleeping moth."Sssh. Ssssssh! Don't yell about this, yes!"He stares as you pull your hand away. You're not quite comfortable with the level of awe in his eyes."Are you- Is Nin right? Are you the Queen?"You shake your head side to side, hair flying. "I am a regular arachne, yes?""I am utterly certain you aren't in any way regular.""Well, I am not a Queen, yes!""Yet."Oh, gods. >I am not a Queen!>Don't tell anyone about the rule thing. Please.>Agh. What can you tell me about the rest of the city?>Other(?)
>>41510574no, they're literally dungeon-spawned monsters. As in created-by-the-dungeon.Our dad met our mom in a dungeon, because mom was clearing the dungeon and dad thought she was a dungeon monster. turns out she wasn't.
>>41510627>that was mostly self-sufficientIt had regular caravans coming into it, actually it was far from largely self-sufficient.
>>41510596>people getting upset that Lyra has blessingsHumie fags>>41510604Well, gnomes have been depicted as a sentient race and a race of grubbling nutters, so either is possible
>>41510638>>Agh. What can you tell me about the rest of the city?
>>41510576>problems it bringsI think it has never actually caused a problem.>If it were pro-hunting then they wouldn't have said it would only make sense to buy food we can't get on our own.but that is exactly what they say, since we can always technically get food on our own.We really don't need this argument every time we stop by a town and decide to get some easy snacks.
>>41510638>Don't tell anyone about the rule thing. Please.
>>41510638>Don't tell anyone about the rule thing. Please.>Agh. What can you tell me about the rest of the city?>At the end, thank him and offer your assistance if he has need while you're in the city.Hook for shenanigans? Paladins are cool.

>>41510638>I am not a Queen!>Agh. What can you tell me about the rest of the city?
Man we have five blessings, and apparently they're supposed to be really hard to come by.Oh wait, we is a giant spider who fights giant monsters and armies of wolves.I guess the whole life threating thing is something we do fairly often.>I am not a Queen!>Don't tell anyone about the rule thing. Please.>Agh. What can you tell me about the rest of the city? Why not all the choices?
>>41510638Obligatory>I am not a Queen! But also>Don't tell anyone about the rule thing. Please.>Agh. What can you tell me about the rest of the city?Any defining features, or is this just a generic mid-level quest hub?
>>41510666>I think it has never actually caused a problem.Because we have never done it? We ate in a Inn literally once.>>41510666>We really don't need this argument every time we stop by a town and decide to get some easy snacks. The issue wasn't eating in a Inn once or twice, thats cool, there is a lot of stuff Lyra can try eating that she just can't acquire herself. It was about someone saying we should literally only eat in Inns for our entire stay in the city.
>>41510638>>Don't tell anyone about the rule thing. Please. He knows what that blessing does?
>>41510638shit, I almost missed this. >I am not a Queen!
>>41510638The moth's infection is spreading. QUARANTINE

>>41510638>>I am not a Queen!>Don't tell anyone about the rule thing. Please.
>>41510638I'm starting to think at least a couple of the gods might just be incredibly overleveled monsters.
Currently seven threads between us and oblivion, either REQM's making a new thread or he's typing up the conclusion post. please be a new thread
>>41510701Anon, you're getting REALLY fired up over a "should we have pizza or chinese" discussion.going to an inn isn't any more troublesome to the locals than going hunting or whatever. Chill out.
>>41510733You might be onto something here..
>>41510702It is quite likely I am wrong but it is possible that gods give more than one specific blessing.
>>41510733I'm pretty sure he told us in the last deity conversation that Demi-Gods are actually physical people, so at least some of them definitly are that.
>>41510741The thread's ending mate
Well, I have work in the morning and need sleep.Stay Spidery.
All of the above?I'll throw up a new thread with the next post, though I don't know how much longer I'll go.
What flags gave us the Tyrant evo?
>>41510832probably the stuff with the wolves.
I don't know about your guys, but I'm getting pretty half-hearted about the queen denial fluster. I'm wondering how long it will be until Lyra stops freaking out about it and just pretends she can't hear the accusations of royalty.
>>41510832>>41510796I'll second this question.
>>41510832Deinos:ALPHA PREDATOR: 3/3Grave Lord:MASTER OF ARMS 5/5(Weapon Kills)Sovereign:THE PEOPLE BEFORE THE RULER: 1/1Tyrant:RULE FOLLOWS STRENGTH: 1/1Cinder:AS BELOW, SO AFLAME: 3/3Hearth:BY HAMMER, BY STEEL: 3/3Other, unfulfilled ones included:A PINPRICK LEADS TO DEATH: 0/3TAKE FLESH, TAKE BLOOD: 0/3THERE IS NOTHING BEYOND VISION: 1/2THE FOREST BOWS: 5/6
>>41510850>THE FOREST BOWS: 5/6So close.
>>41510832It was taking leadership of that pack of wolves.
>>41510832>crushing the wolves then becoming alpha.Said REQM last thread.
>>41510847Fairly sure we got the RULE FOLLOWS STRENGTH from slaughtering the Wolf Pack Leader and then taking command of his followers.
>>41510850TAKE FLESH, TAKE BLOOD: 0/3 Now I'm curious No longer relevant but still curious.
>>41510796don't forget to have Lyra get feed up with people calling her queen all the time and accidentally letting her crown shoot out for anyone look to see.
>>41510865Crushing them and then taking control, the crushing beforehand was important.>>41510845I feel like Lyra will just keep reacting less to it now, and when its not a good way to tease her with Nin will most likely tone down the queen thing too, she already has really. >>41510889Vampire/Ghoul evoNot sure why its not at least 2/3, but maybe it just didn't count yet back then.
I wonder what "A Forest Bows" would have done. More points required seems to imply a stronger evo.
>>41510864It was a bad evo what for Lyra intends to do anyway.
>>41510892>Anytime Lyra is nervous or embarrassed the crown raises itself as a defense mechanism
>>41510889fuck that. We ain't no khornate, blood sucking, daylight sparkling, rotten-flesh-eating, melodramatic vampire. That can go to any bat-people we find
>>41510912>Arachne Queen>It would have been a very direct line to the Old Queen. Earth powers, Extra authority in the forest, that sort of thing. The ability to 'adopt' other forest races' powers momentarily. Last thread had all the evo answers.
>>41510596>"Well- I, personally, worship the Great God of LightGood to see people worshipping proper lizard gods.
>>41510912It would have caused Nin absolute ecstasy.
>>41510912Arachne Queen, yes, that one.Basically we became a Red Mage, but it relied on having Forest species around us, and the powers were only temporary.Very strong in the Forest, not so much outside it.I'm glad we didn't qualify and take it, Lyra forges her own path to the future! Spiders don't get stuck in webs! Certainly not Cobwebs!
>>41510920>Notices the crown is active>Gets even more embarrassed and the crown starts burning even brighter>Parts of it even start burning blue, looking sort of like gems
>>41510953She got the forest on her back tho.
>>41510912long story short Sovereign would have been like Tyrant but we'd give buffs to our party members and not ourselvesTyrant gave us the kick ass armorand the forest bows would have been pretty much what the last spider queen had when the forest still had a city. Better earth magic and all the races of the woods (with a few exceptions like the lizards) would be drawn to us. So like sovereign but more specialized
>>41510796Is Lyra the only Tier 4 (Forest) Arachne in the world right now? I remember you said there were only a few other Tier 3 ones in the forest.
>>41510971and we would have been using the abilities our companions already use. It's really potent when you have a fucking army around you, less potent when you have a small squad.
>>41510990The world is a big place. I'd very much doubt we're the only tier 4 spider. Are we rare? Hell yeah.
>>41510990My guess would be not the only but one of the even fewer.
>>41510953Do you mean blue mage?
>>41511022Forest Arachne only come from the forest though.
>>41511022>The world is a big place. But its very possible Forest Arachne only live in one place on it.
>>41511036Nah, Blue Mage takes a hit and learns the move permanently, Red Mage learns everything but only on the lesser levels but can pull out unique moves.
>>41510990Probably the only living t4 forest arachne, yeah.Mountain/underdark/desert/whatever arachne probably have at least one t4 of their own though.
>>41511029>My guess would be not the only but one of the even fewer. It can only be one or maybe two other, as far as I remember there were only 5-6 Tier 3 ones, most Orb.
>>41511042>>41511046I think anon was being a bit more general than just forest arachne
>>41511065>Probably the only living t4 forest arachne, yeah. What about Seranthis? Isn't he T4? Or a Forest Arachne? Or is he even higher, like some kind of T5 or T6?
Guys, the question isn't how many t4 Spiderbutts there are, the question is how Proud/Mad/Jealous/IT'S UNFAIR SHE'S A BABY Mom is going to be when she learns of it.
>>41511087>only Tier 4 (Forest) ArachneNope
>>41511066>most Orb.Now I'm curious about Elle. I hope she gets a cool evo or at least a blessing from the god of money/commerce or something like that on account of all the jewing.
>>41511087No, he pretty explicitly said (Forest) Arachne.>>41511091Seranthis is a giant spider.
>>41511091Given his age and size? Easily 5. Six is the stuff of myths and legends.. but he qualifies.. so..

I know tier 6 is the highest, but I'm wondering if there's some sort of.. hidden ex rank 7 for the likes of demigods and gods. Not even in the mortal realm completely anymore.

>>41511136>>41511144Where did he come from? Is there a clan of Giant Spiders in the Forest, or did he come from the Underdark?

"I- I am not a Queen, yes!"He looks on doubtfully."I am not!"You glance around again."And- and-"You drop your voice further, whispering across the inches that separate you."Do- Do not tell anyone about the rule thing. Please."His nods, looking serious again."I swear. You're a friend Lyra- Something like that would spell trouble no matter what."You groan."Don't worry, I'll keep it a secret. By my sword and the light.""Thank you, yes."You spare a moment to calm down, your heartbeat returning to something normal. You might've gotten something troublesome. You play with your hair nervously as you wrack your brain, trying to find a new topic to work with."Um. Can you tell me about the rest of the city? It is for trade, yes? Does that mean that few people live there? Just merchants passing through?"He looks surprised a moment, and then he laughs, an honest and clear sound."No, no- Gods no. It's the centre of the continent, Lyra. They keep having to add new layers to the city, each a new wall, then buildings within. Every farm for leagues provides its food, its soldiers and students and workers.""So it is large?""Huge. It even has a navy.""On a river?""Well, river is a bit of a weak word, honestly."You raise an eyebrow. "It's- well, it's wide. The bridge across it is considered a wonder. People say it took an army of mages to put down its supports, and a city's worth of stone to finish.""So it is a port city, of sorts?""Every kind- Trade flows in and out."You can't help but be curious about the things you'll find in the city, and even your worry about your blessings can't dampen that.
