It's currently around four in the afternoon. Alice is sitting behind you, animatedly chatting into her headset as explosions and fire rain down on her screen. You're also sitting at your desk, staring at nothing in particular as you ponder what to do next.Susan sent you a text today telling you that Summer had been released from custody. With the murderous fae freed, you realized that now might be a good opportunity to call her up and ask her any questions you might have. The only issue is that you're pretty sure Summer's answers will have some sort of cost, no matter how benign she made her favor to you seem to be.You took some time to do a quick search online about any possible places to buy a prepaid phone to use as a burner phone. The options you got were buying something off of Amazon, which you were hesitant to do, considering that you didn't have any money on your new checking account at the moment and your other debit card's transactions could be seen by your parents, or you could go out in person and purchase a prepaid phone from a downtown shop or from a retail superstore. The prepaid phone from the downtown shop would probably be pretty expensive—somewhere around a hundred dollars, as it only offers phones of a specific brand—while a generic phone from the retail store would only be around fifteen plus another ten for the prepaid minutes. Getting to the retail store would take a 45 minute bus ride to and then back, however, but you'd be able to tell anyone who cared that you were just purchasing some food and snacks you wanted.Either way, you have the rest of the day free at the moment, as you don't have any plans to meet up with people until tomorrow afternoon for the tiny party with your friends, and you can make it to either store before they close.>Go to retail superstore (~$25)>Go to downtown cell shop (~100)>Borrow someone's credit card and order a phone off Amazon (~$30)>Do something else (Write-in)

So we have a day off today and then nothing tomorrow until the afternoon party I guess.I forget, did we do much training/experiments with our abilities yet? Might want to try some of that later if not, or maybe do some social calls. Depending on how our talk with Summer goes, anyway.
>>41289952Yes, you did a nat 100 inside a bathroom while training all of your sensory abilities last thread.
>>41290050Oh yeah, that's right.Well, let's see what we get to work with for the day then!
Well, you might as well stop by the retail store, then, considering you don't have much to do anyways and it would be good to save on money. You might also be able to pick up some other stuff there too.You grab your wallet, keys, and cellphones, put on your backpack, and prepare to leave. Alice doesn't seem to notice that you're leaving, too engrossed in her game, until you tap her on the shoulder and motion for her to take the headset off. When you tell her where you're going, she asks you to pick up a few spicy snacks for her and that she'll pay you back. You agree, as you definitely have enough money for both the phone and any other foodstuffs you might want. You walk to the bus stop, get on the bus, and make your way to the retail store without any odd strangers on the bus or people accosting you. The retail store has a moderate amount of shoppers, people getting their shopping in before the weekend. You pick up your prepaid phone and Alice's spicy chips and you still have some money to spare.Well, you're at a retail store now, and there are plenty of things you could buy in case of future emergencies. You have some basic stuff, like scissors and masking tape and a bike light, although you're not sure what kind of situation would necessitate the use of all three items. There's still over forty minutes until the next bus gets here, so you take some time to walk among the aisles...>Buy more stuff (Write-in)>Do something else (Write-in)>Head back
>>41290415>Buy more stuffDelicious snacks. What about the party? Don't we need to prepare for it?Also let's look for familiar faces while shopping too!
>>41290415>Do something elseLet's just do some walking around window-shopping while we're already in the area. What's our hobbies anyway, I totally forget if we even know!
I dunno, I can't think of anything specifically I want to buy. Also I totally want to call Summer already.
>>41290533You like spooky stuff, exploring spooky stuff, hanging out with friends, reading about spooky stuff on the internet, helping people apparently, volleyball and so forth.Whatever y'all decide in future options.

>>41290758Better taste.Clearly we need to find somewhere to play sometime!
>>41290415>>41290459I guess I can switch to heading back so we can move along, if we don't need to buy party stuff.

>>41290841Wee!A bit of a slow start is expected I guess since it's been so long since last time.
Some more snacks, maybe? Or maybe some drinks? You can't go wrong with more soda, you decide, and you buy a few liters of sugary drinks and some plastic cups. You aren't too worried about the party. Between Laura, Mark, and Chloe, you're sure that they've got almost everything covered. And by everything, you mostly mean the alcohol. It isn't a big party, just a gathering between the five, now six of you, as from what you've seen a lot of the student population done with their tests have already started heading home for winter break. After purchasing your items and stuffing all of them into your backpack, you head out to see if there were any other stores in the area you might want something from. There isn't really much around here though, just a home improvement store, an electronics store, and a few restaurants. You still have half an hour, enough to pick up some food if you wanted to.>Grab dinner now>Head back

>>41291356Already delayed for... a week, probably.Hopefully it won't take too long, comp is wonkyish.
Hmm. Alice seemed pretty engrossed with her video game back in her room. You don't know for sure if she's skipping dinner in favor of playing her game and eating somewhere late at night as she sometimes does, but you're feeling a bit hungry and it wouldn't take much time to grab some fast food.Actually, the more you think about it, the more the thought of eating a juicy burger and having some cold soda for a quick dinner appeals to you, so you head to the fast food restaurant nearby. You'd probably usually prefer something healthier, but there aren't really any other restaurants you could get quick takeout from nearby and... with your glamour, did you even have to worry about weight anymore? The endurance augmentations you still had running at the moment might even be increasing your metabolism. As you sit down and wait for them to call your number, you pull out your prepaid phone and fiddle with it a bit, reading the instructions on how you were supposed to activate it. Apparently you need to give a name and address as part of the process in order for the phone to assign an area code to you, which kind of worries you.You also realize that this area might be a good place to make a phone call if you don't want to be overheard. You could just go around to the back of the building or find an empty area in the parking spot and make the call, although you only have around twenty-five minutes before the bus arrives and setting up the phone is going to take a bit of time.>Give fake address and name>Give real address and name>Make the call in the parking lot>Head home>Other (Write-in.)

Don't think we need TOO much paranoia for this, if anyone's watching us even here they probably know too much already anyway. Mostly just gotta get out of roommate's range and get the phone-call anonymous.
>>41291449Also for clarification, I figured the default is calling from inside the restaurant since it's one of the best places to do so (real tough for any potential stalkers to overhear shit over other patrons' chatter) but I guess it could have been meant as a binary 'parking lot or home' thing. I'd like to call from inside though.

It might be a bit suspicious if someone sees you crouched in the parking lot making a phone call with a large backpack on your back, so you decide to stay inside the restaurant. There's enough patrons around to make anything you say be drowned out and subsumed into the mass of buzzing noises, so you doubt that anyone might accidentally overhear you. At worst, you could just tell anyone giving you weird looks that you were talking about a video game or something. You take a few minutes to set up your phone, which goes surprisingly fast due to the robotic operator on the other end. When it asks for your name and address, you consider having a little fun and giving a false address in reference to something, but then you realize that if that address wasn't valid it wouldn't have an area code and then you wouldn't be able to set up your phone...You end up taking out your other phone and searching the web for some kind of random address generator. A minute later, you sign up with the name of Robin Garcia who lives at 426 Kenmore Avenue. There's a tense moment before the robot tells you that your phone has been activated and gives you your number.Just as you finish setting up your phone, your number gets called and you go up to grab your food. You leave the paper bag sitting on the table before you sit back down and wonder how you're going to call Summer. You can easily recall her number, but you're not sure how you would greet her or what you want to ask her. Also, the phone's display reminds you that you have sixty minutes left.>Be normal, polite, but wary>Be direct, cautious, suspicious, and to the point>Anything specific? >>41293356I still don't trust Summer. The 'nicest' thing she's done for us is merely infect us with an unknown substance (that she claims is nanomachines) rather than kill us, after attempting to brainwash us.
>>41293711Well her options at the time were 'attempt to brainwash' or 'let her shoot willy-nilly', and the mild case of it at the start before things went violent doesn't worry me - seemed like a way to soothe nerves and make her nervous and uncertain clients more comfortable and receptive so they'd get their money's worth. It's been a long time though so maybe I forget something.
>>41293711Oh, she's absolutely not trustworthy. She was likely meddling with Rachel's mind the moment they met face-to-face, and almost certainly intended to convert Rachel without consent before the blades even came out. Which is especially chilling when we remember that conversion can be a fatal process, and she attempted it because she figured 'Rose' probably didn't tell anyone she had slipped off to a brothel, so it'd be easier to get away with the consequences if things went bad.We don't know what her goals are, or why she converted Rachel, or much at all about her, really. Yet, sadly, she's still are best source of information regarding what we've become. Unless we want to come clean to the Bureau, but that's certainly got its share of risks as well.
>>41294149>almost certainly intended to convert Rachel without consent before the blades even came out. What makes you think this anon?
Alright. You have an hour for this call, and you're going to make the most of it. The fact that the bus leaves in less than twenty minutes isn't important, as it'll come again in an hour or so. You're currently sitting in the corner of the restaurant and you have your food in front of you, so you don't look suspicious. Even better, you can look like you're busy in an important phone call if people start noticing that you've been here for longer than you needed to be.You pick up your prepaid phone and carefully punch in Summer's number before hitting the call button. As the phone dials and begins to ring, you realize that you're going to feel extremely silly if you remembered the number wrong or if no one even picked up. Damn, wait, why would Summer even be free at this time? You might be making too many assu—"Hello."You steel your nerves and respond with the first thing you can think of."Hey, Mom. How are you doing?"There's dead silence on the other end. You're about to pull the phone away and check to see if the call had been dropped before you hear a quiet chuckle. "I'm doing fine, darling. Thank you for asking.""That's good," you respond automatically. "I was, uh, hoping that you'd answer a few questions for me?""I did promise you a favor," she says thoughtfully. "I suppose this will do. Continue, my child. What questions do you wish to ask?"(1/3)
Okay, doesn't seem to be going too bad. Too bad she seems to be taking this as the fulfillment of the favor you were promised, but maybe that means you'll get better and more straightforward answers. "You turned me into a fae, but the people that sent me don't know about me yet. Do you know how they'd react if they knew what I am now? Would I get in trouble?""I would not presume to have an intimate understanding of how their organization works... but I would expect that many would become more suspicious and distrusting of you if you ever revealed your status as a fae." Summer hums, a vicious tone coming into her voice. "I and my people have mostly only met your fellow operatives in combat, after all. You do remember our first meeting, yes? Where you brutally assaulted me and sent me in for interrogation?"You gulp, not liking the direction that this conversation is turning toward. If she's trying to make you feel guilty, it's kind of working. "Is that what usually happens? No one talks their problems out or anything?""Of course not, dear. You know how it is, with our tricky fae talk and the things our bodies can do. Shoot first and ask later, because they are absolutely terrified of our stronger brethren." She laughs a little. "As they should be."(2/3)
"...Er, right," you finally respond. "Is there any way of hiding what I am?""Our abilities are called glamour," she points out. "Hiding in plain sight is one of our most utilized and possibly most useful skills. Have you been attracting attention to yourself? Utilizing your abilities for carnal pleasures and delights?""No!" you quickly say, clutching the phone tightly and looking around. "Nothing like that. I was just wondering I'd become as, uh, obvious as you were."There's a chuckle. "I only appear as I do when I wish to do so," Summer explains. "Maintaining that appearance in public would cause quite a commotion. As long as you remain cautious and appear convincingly human, none should realize what you are. And if they do, your status as a fae would not remain as your biggest concern for any longer."And on that ominous statement, you take a moment to glance at the time. If you didn't get on the bus that would be arriving soon, you'd be stuck here for another hour, and it would be completely dark by then. Or, you could continue your conversation with Summer.(3/3)>End call, head home>Continue call, take next bus>Other (Write-in)

>>41294193Last time I had that discussion, there was a fair bit of disagreement about the nature of Summer's mind-whammying, motives for continuing her advances on 'Rose' after she was to slow down, etc. etc. That said, the most clear-cut reason is Summer's words from the first thread regarding why she converted Rachel. Nothing about self-defense or a reaction to something that Rachel did. Just that Rachel would make an excellent addition to her kind, and the opportunity was too much for her to pass up. Those are factors that she determined before she brought us into the room.

You roll your eyes. Why did you even bother asking yourself that question? It wasn't as though you needed to go do something, and you did pay for these sixty minutes and this conversation in more ways than one."Can you tell me more about my powers?" you ask her, going along with the flow of the conversation. She seems to be enjoying talk about fae and fae-related stuff, or at least she's not actively hostile, which must mean something. "Is there anything that I should know of? Any weaknesses, limitations, compulsions, or natural enemies?""It is good that you are taking your newly acquired status seriously," she says approvingly. "Too often do I see young fae squander the power that they have on trivial matters such as 'doing good' or some other asinine, vague goals."You stay silent, waiting for her to continue."We do not have the innate physical prowess of weres and vampires, nor the odd and often times powerful abilities of other supernatural creatures," she begins, "but what we do have is the ability to deceive and trick our way through the toughest of problems. And if that fails, we merely slip away to adapt and improve upon our disguises and glamours and try again once more until we succeed. Direct confrontation is not our strength, and the amount of glamour we can bring to bear is limited. But even that may change over time, either through the process of accumulating larger amounts of power or adopting more... permanent changes to your body."(1/3)
"About that, the gaining power part," you say. "I noticed that I got more, um, power, I guess? When I played a, uh, prank on my friends. Is that how this usually works? Because that seems kind of..." You trail off. There's a delighted chuckle. "It seems that you truly have not attempted some of the more perverse possibilities with your new talents. A welcome surprise would have awaited you in your future, but I suppose I have spoiled it now. As I have said before, the more you engage in activities that you enjoy, the greater the amount of changes you may affect your being with. Indeed, it is that simple, although you may find that it will grow harder for you take pleasure in simpler things, forcing you to resort to emotional extremes to satisfy your desires."You try to put what she's suggesting out of your mind. Surely she can't mean what you think she's implying. You shudder to think of the drama that would ensue, although perhaps fae such as her would enjoy that. "Is there a downside to maintaining the changes you make for a long period of time?" you ask. "I've been keeping some glamours meant to improve my stamina active for almost a week now, and I was wondering if that was healthy for me."(2/3)
"A sensible glamour," she agrees. "As you may have noticed, the 'upkeep' of said glamour will have become less in proportion to the length of time you have had the glamour. If it is a change you wish to make stronger or perhaps even permanent, then no, your health will not be negatively affected by the glamour aside from possibly draining you of your reserves if it is a particularly large glamour.""Ah, okay, that's good then," you reply, relieved. "Sorry about the amount of questions that I've been asking you. If it isn't too much trouble, I just have one more question ask.""Proceed, child. It seems that my decision to give my gift to you was a wise one.""I was just wondering...Have you ever encountered something like a zombie before?" you ask her cautiously. "You know, like those zombies that are popular in books and shows.""Is this something that occurred recently?" "Yes," you admit truthfully. "I was with a friend who contracted some sort of, uh, infection, that changed her into something like a zombie. We had to make an emergency trip to Chinatown to buy some pig brains to tide her cravings over, and while we were shopping we almost got abducted.""Go on," Summer says, serious yet amused. "This sounds quite interesting.""Well, we thought we were getting into a taxi, and the driver turned out to be some kind of zombie too. I think he had been following us for almost the entire time. I didn't really want to be abducted, so I waited until we hit a red light before smashing the plastic divider, uh, crushing his throat, and then cracking his head against the window. Then I unlocked the doors and got us out of the car and he didn't chase after us.""Physical violence is always quite satisfying," she comments warmly. "Good. It would not have done to have one of my children captured so soon after receiving her gifts.""If it helps, the driver didn't really respond to anything I asked him, and he drove off like he was fine after we got out of the car," you supply. "As for my friend, she seems to have a craving for human brains that apparently can be quenched with pig brains, a lot of endurance, and really thick blood. After my friend ate the pig brains she was able to eat normal food, but before that she was really, really violently throwing up whatever she ate that wasn't pig or human brains."(1/2)
"Resistance to physical injuries and high levels of endurance both point to the possibility that the driver or you friend may be ghouls, albeit the driver being one of lesser intelligence. However, you said your friend was able to consume ordinary food afterwards, which is something that I have not heard of." She pauses for a moment. "Are there other details I should be informed of, Rose?"You're confused for a moment before remembering that you introduced yourself as Rose the night that you met Summer. You wonder if you should correct that bit of information or leave it be in order to protect your identity. And then you realize that Summer is still waiting for an answer to her question.(2/2)>Tell her about the circumstances of Liza's infection (revealing more details about self and school)>Tell her there isn't anything else important>Correct the issue of your name>Ask her more questions (Write-in)>End call
>>41296451>>Tell her about the circumstances of Liza's infection (revealing more details about self and school)>Mostly the candy bar related stuff.>Accept Rose as a persona.
>Tell her about the circumstances of Liza's infection (revealing more details about self and school)I feel like having Rose as a persona is a good idea, especially as Fae are evidently prone to disguises and assuming different faces. I kind of want to correct her, but at the same time, maybe accepting Rose as a 'face' of ours would be a good idea.
>>41295659>You try to put what she's suggesting out of your mind. Surely she can't mean what you think she's implying.I don't know any collage age females this repressed.
>>41296541muh teegee, muh magical realm, sex is scary ablooblooI don't either. I assume there must be some, but honestly by that point you're an adult about this shit.

>>41296541>>41296570Sorry, kinda making a terrible joke about her mind straying to weird places and Summer telling her to screw as many random people she likes as possible in order to gain substantial amounts of power.
>>41296570>I assume there must be someAs far as I am concerned this is like the supernatural. I've never seen any evidence for it but I can't disprove it.
>>41296621>telling her to screw as many random people she likes as possibleOk that makes more sense.

>>41296725>PunkishYou know pink hair and piercings.
>>41296767The pink hair stays.
So we're not correcting her on the name stuff. but giving clues that could potential lead her to us. We are so bad at handling fae. On the plus side, we've got a lot of room to grow!>>41296793Eugh... maybe. Though there's no reason to limit to that; other weird hair colors or styles could work, since Summer would likely expect a new fae to play with glamours a bit.
>>41296793SHe has black hair in the op.
>>41296847I was thinking about that too. We're giving her hints about how to find us and our actual name, but not correcting the 'rose' thing.Personally I think it will be fine if we really do embrace the 'Rose' name as a persona of our own and make it a legitimate 'face'. Like the first real thing we've done as a Fae. If we just keep it as a throw-away name, then this will definitely go badly.Idea ahead.I would really love it if we took Rose further. Like the mindset and idea of being 'Rose' was separate from the mindset and idea of being 'Rachel'. A shift between Rachel's "I am a human, what are these weird powers?" and "I am Fae."A lot of Fae powers as described and mentioned so far are heavily based on personal belief, so a kind of self-enforced shift would be really great for us I think? Especially while we're still 'young' as Fae go. Rose could become our game face. The persona and attitude we shift into when we NEED to get shit done. A focus for our powers, and a psychological trigger to help us reinforce our glamours and ease of use.

Got distracted, will post soon.
"Uhh..." you think for a moment. You're inclined towards keeping your privacy, but if she could supply you with some information that you wouldn't have discovered otherwise... "She got infected from eating a tainted protein bar. I'm trying to track down where the protein bar came from, but I haven't really gotten anything other than one of the store's employees being tricked into slipping the bar onto the shelf by someone who's also kind of stalking my friend. It sort of feels like she was a trial run for the infection for something, but that's just my guess."Summer is silent for a moment. "I see. Thank you for informing me of this issue. Is there anything else you'd like to ask of me?""About my friend," you say. "Is there anything I should know of if she's a ghoul?""If she were a normal ghoul, and she was truly someone useful enough to keep around, then you would be carting pounds of human flesh to her on a monthly basis in order to satisfy her hunger and keep her sane." There's a palpable shrug. "But, as you have described her, she does not seem to be a conventional ghoul."That's unfortunately not as good of an answer as you hoped for. In fact, that kind of makes you worry a little more, considering that Liza's case is something that not even Summer has heard of. There's no use in worrying about it now, however, as you have a phone conversation to focus on.You're wondering if you should still ask Summer if there is anywhere else you can get information from. Your talk with Summer seems to have gone relatively well, and you don't know if you want to potentially bring it down by implying that Summer is untrustworthy.>Ask her anyways>Don't ask her>Inquire into her health outside of favor-related reasons and end the call>Ask more questions (Write-in)>Other (Write-in)
>Inquire into her health outside of favor-related reasons and end the callWhile I am pro-Faemom, a fair amount of skepticism and wariness is healthy. She was pleased when we didn't trust her immediately, so I think it says a lot about how the Fae view relationships between each other. We're thankful, and we're interested in a continued positive, perhaps close, relationship... But we're not blindly trusting or stupid. Extend concern, and maybe mention a general idea of our plan from here - nothing specific.Perhaps ask if she has things she may need help with, in case you get the opportunity. A relationship goes both ways, after all. Don't make promises, but keep them in mind.
>>41297219> ask her anyways
>>41297253I'll second this, but can we ask her what Fae society is like? Anything we should know if we meet another Fae?How does one go about even doing that?

"Ah, okay then," you respond. "Thanks for the help, though. I guess that was more than one question.""That is okay," she says, waving off your concerns. "You have provided me with valuable information in exchange.""Is that how conversations between our kind usually go?" you ask. "I mean, if I ever do meet another fae, I don't want to come off as rude or anything..." Real smooth."Another question, Rose? Very well. Those of our kind vary in tastes and preferences, but as a general rule you must exchanges things of value, whether it be information or entertainment. But as I have said earlier, if you are able to recognize another fae for what they truly are, then there are other issues at stake. Our kind enjoys secrecy, and being underestimated is another advantage we prefer to retain.""I understand," you say. "Really, thank you for answering my questions, even though it was because you were fulfilling a favor. I wouldn't be adverse to continuing our... relationship, of sorts, in the form of letting these numbers be a line of communication.""Do you remember our first meeting, Rose?" Summer suddenly says. "I asked you to look favorably upon me if I call upon you for future assistance, and you said that you would think about it."You do remember, vaguely, through the haze of adrenaline and blood loss."I would be interested in a working relationship," Summer continues, "as long as you remember what you have said.">Agree>Disagree>Other (Write-in)

"That sounds reasonable," you agree. "I might, however, be less inclined to assist you if your request runs directly counter to my interests.""But of course," Summer says smoothly. "Now, if there isn't anything else...?""That's about it, I think," you reply. "I hope you're doing okay now, after what happened. Sorry about calling you randomly at this time.""I appreciate the concern," and it really sounds like she does, "and the timing was not disruptive. Good night, Rose.""'Night," you reply, and end the call.Following the information you researched, you pull the battery and the SIM card out of phone immediately. You might turn it back on again some other time to check for texts if Summer wants to contact you, but for now you'll make sure that it won't be giving off any signals that could be traced, even if it is a bit paranoid. There's half an hour left before the bus arrives, so you wait it out by finally eating your not-so-warm and slightly soggy burger. The drink, fortunately, is still decently cold, and you amuse yourself by staring out the window and wondering what kind of details you'd be able to pick out if you burned some power to augment your eyes. That reminds you, you'll probably need to decide what you're going to be doing for winter break. Your parents have talked about picking you up on Monday by car and driving you home, although they'll probably call you on Sunday to finalize any plans. It's only a two-hour trip, or four hours to and from, so it isn't too much of a hassle. The bus arrives on time and you return to school without an incident. Alice gratefully takes your proffered snacks and pays you back in full, and you store your burner phone in your drawer and the soda in the minifridge. It's about seven o'clock, and you're not really hungry after the fast food you ate.>Hang out with Alice for the rest of the night, then go to sleep>Do something else (Write-in)
>>41298207>Do something else (Write-in)>>41296894I'm still curious about this idea. Can we maybe use tonight to get a start on solidifying 'rose' as a persona we can trigger for ourselves?Thinking of it as a form of self-hypnosis, where we associate the identity with activating our powers full blast. Maybe start small now, but keep at it until we can just BELIEVE ourselves into going full Fae eventually?Otherwise, I guess just >Hang out with Alice for the rest of the night, then go to sleep

Alright, I think that'll be it for tonight.
