Alright so you know what time it is people. Voting opens now for the opening civ. Once place and race are decided I will be introducing a new twist to the civ thread this time to keep things interesting.
I'll proxy 23 other people's votes......They also all want Humans, and Tundra!
>>41122564Giants in the desert
>>41122882>Giants in the desertSeconding, because I've not seen a giants civ yet.
It appears we have three votes for giants in the desert is this correct?
>>41122997Woops dropped my name
>>41123035Yup. Let's get this shin dig going
Im watching :p
Vote for Giants/Desert
Alright now for the twist. You will select an affinity. You will vote on it from the following list. Your selected affinity is a bloodline trait or exposure trait that will be unique to the giants bred in your group and may drastically change how your civ is run and may help or hinder you in your chosen area. Choose wisely.CelestialDemonDevilFireWaterEarthWind
>>41122564Checkin in (brb shower)
>>41123152EarthWe must learn masonic magic and build magical monoliths
>>41123152I'll take a deal with the devil.
>>41123152Demonic giants ruling the desert wastelands sounds like a fun time
>>41123152What's the difference between Demon and Devil?
>>41123186>Earth>We must learn masonic magic and build magical monolithsSeconding! Hoping for a boost to building.
>>41123204I'd be down for a demon giant desert game.
Im for earth demon/devil shit never works
pls no demons why does every civ quest have to be edgy races
>>41123204Demons are chaotic being that only seek to destroy everything. Devils are lawful beings that have goals end games schemes and in the end desire ultimate power and control.
>>41123152Water: Fuck any and all irrigation and lack of water debuffs attributed by the desertWind: Wind elementals are known to reside in deserts, also sand stormsFire: Elementals of the fiery kind are also known to reside within deserts, and combat affinityEarth: We're in a desert so yeahCelestial/Demon: Could be good don't know wha system and or religion this is based off ofDevil: Likely incredibly powerful with SEVER drawbacks such as debts and other bad thingsI vote Wind or Water (attribute the vote in a way that will help break ties)
Earth wins it
>>41122564Dragonborn in the Islands. Maori/Polynesian Dragonborns paint a great image and scenario.
>>41123190Changing mine to >>41123204
Now for the last twist of the civ thread, choose a quirk your group is prone too. Such as elaphantitis your giants are prone to double size. A disease that reduces the size of your race by each generation. Something.
>>41123399>Now for the last twist of the civ thread, choose a quirk your group is prone too. Such as elaphantitis your giants are prone to double size. A disease that reduces the size of your race by each generation. Something.A quirk? We deny the existence of magic. We think it does not exist. Thus we don't train it.
>>41123399There is also a outliar option for this of Civ Masters choice where I choose a quirk for you.
>>41123399These giants love using ranged weaponry. Because of this many of them use stolen cannons or ballistas as pistols.
>>41123399They're perfectionists.Everything they build has to be symmetrical
>>41123399Uh Dwarfism we are actually hagrid from harry potterI like that
Fibrodysplasia ossificans progressivaSome giants tend to grow more bones, increasing their natural armor, and perhaps strength. Those affected tend to die by half age.
>>41123494Giants used ranged weaponry because they are germophobes and terrified of coming into physical contact with other races.
>>41123513>Uh Dwarfism we are actually hagrid from harry potterDwarf giants.......lolI can go with that.
Two votes for ranged weaponry usage
>>41123559Two votes for dwarf giants.
>>41123581Third for ranged weaponsGet ready for arrows the size of spears
Ranged weapons wins it for quirk. Now lastly what is your tribes animal companion.
Elephants used for transporting stuff.
>>41123686Do you guys want to add fear of physical contact with other races onto the ranged weapon quirk? Giants could become defiled after a battle or be obligated to perform ritual purification.
>>41123686Elephant shrewsOr just elephants I guess
>>41123686Alpacas the size of elephants.
>>41123686RocGiant birds from egyptian mythos, great for deserts.
>>41123785Roc >>41123743No please
>>41123743NO thank you
>>41123723Changing this to elephants.
Well elephants win it. Beginning write up now.
Your tribe awakes stoney muscles grinding as you all shift uncomfortably. The tribal shaman sits up in the deserted ruins of a well built stone tribe town. As you all take survey of your surrounding you find you have 5 bows with a matching set of full quarrels. A months worth of food, a deep water well. Your tribe is built of 1 male shaman. Your chief and his wife. 15 males and 7 females. As well as a warrior caste of 10 males and females evenly divided. Finally you have 2 trained war elephants 5 pack elephants. The technology that comes with these things is known to some degree. As you stumble around in the encampment you come across a map with routes along them. They are marked with two different things. The red is marked elves and it passes a few dozen miles north then the other is marked as friends and that route is in the west. Your choices are before you. Hunt learn, scout, build, research, or other. Your shamans magics are potent earth magics and he is ready to choose an apprentice.
>>41124129Appoint an apprentice, the youngest available. Can we get some more info on our visible surroundings? Like are we in sand? mud flats? visible land marks? Structures?
>>41124178Train apprentice in Earth magic.
>>41124178You are in the midst of sturdy stone structures. No visible signs of masonry involved almost as if built by magic. Outside of that there is desert as far as the eye can see. With more scouting more may be revealed. The buildings are arranged in a circular pattern with the well at the center and a long house just a bit to the north of it.
>>41124302Is the town built into a stone wall like Petra? Or out in the open?
>>41124385Out in the open.
Hunt. We need food.
>>41124435Have the shaman train the new apprentice by raising walls.
>>41124507Train apprentice.Build walls.
>>41124435We need a well.
>>41124539See >>41124302>with the well at the center
>>41124422Change my vote to train the apprentice.
Your chief declares that it is time an apprentice is trained with elves so nearby. He then retreats to the long house to think upon the disturbing events that brought you here. The shaman steps forward and goes over all those that seem to be "worthy" of his tutelage. Finally he points at a hut and marches over. Inside there is a young giant. A child really who is shaping dirt into castles. He declares this child his apprentice as it breathes on the castles and they shape into solid stone. As his first task the child is pulled forth and the shaman teaches him how to coerce earth into form. Soon him and the apprentice are working on forming walls of earth to protect the village from fell storms.
What is the scope of earth magic? Can buildings have magic power?
>>41124685Roll and see my friend. If your shaman is skilled enough maybe if not then no.
>>41124685As for the scope, the shaman can create castles. Shake the earth for miles. His raw power is mighty indeed from the generations your people had spent so near to the earth plane and a scion of it. However, his finer control is not as good.
>>41124770Have the apprentice focus on finer things, the sand castle is example of his capability.
>>41124770Can you give us some prompts when you're done writing? It's confusing cause I keep waiting for you to be done before I post something.A few suggested or possible courses of action?
>>41124892Yeah sorry its been a while since my last civ.So researchHuntScoutForageBuildTrainBreedOther
>>41124869Have the apprentice learn to build with fine precision. Masonic magic requires structures to be positioned in exact alignment with precise dimensions in accordance with sacred geometry.
>>41124933>Research ScoutI want to know more about these Elves.
>>41124994Yeah lets learn about our surroundings some more, mostly the elves
>>41124994>>41125028>>41125096As you send out a small party of warriors to scout you go about your lives. Your food stores are holding well you sent the party with a single days rations. As they go out they travel fast and hard to the trade route marking several oasis and areas of tracks for animal routes. Most notably a large rock formation. (Think pride rock from the lion king) As they travel along the trade route they are ambushed arrows peppering them in an attempt to get them to run away. Instead they stand and fight barely spotting the elves as they rush in and out of dunes blending well due to camouflage. the party kills 3 claiming their corpses as trophies as they return to the tribe with their findings.ResearchScoutHuntTrainBuildOther
Rolled 9 (1d20)>>41125293Have the tribe create a structure that will magically draw water out of the earth.
>>41125293No prisoners? Shucks.Research slings, since we like ranged and we can make projectile stones out of the sand and have inf ammo. Giant Peltasts
>>41125325One thing I will mention now of this. Of the three votes on something that needs a roll I will take the best roll so just because the first roll is bad if the option is supported by all means reroll.
>>41125358Well when your arrows are the size of non giant kin prisoners are hard to capture.
>>41125358I'd like us to begin to look into our ranged attacks
>>41125432>>41125442Found our new ranged giant
We should move our tribe to one of these oases. The trade opportunities would be valuable.
>>41125358>>41125382>>41125442Your next day is spent researching slings but you hit an impass. You have no leather to shape into the sling cradle. So your shaman attempts to make a cradle from the earth and manages to make a few but the apprentice or more successful and now you have enough slings for the warriors to hunt with. However you are unsure of how long they will last.Copy and paste past actions.
Rolled 3 (1d20)>>41125648Have the tribe create a structure that will magically draw water out of the earth.
Rolled 2 (1d20)>>41125676rolling for this
Rolled 22 (1d100)>>41125648If we've got food we likely either have skins or plant material, I say depending on which make proper slings, and if both make a bowstring and make bows (afterall we killed three elves with bows)Roll for luck
Alright friends the ground work is layed out for the next civ quest. I will return monday to run this. I will have scenarios and plenty of fun for you all, but it is gettin late here and I have work.
