Quiet. Absolute quiet. The house in which you grew up had its calm nights, but there, animals and the occasional gust of wind was there to remind you that you had not gone deaf. The silence here marches in your mind, oppressive, as if laying bare all thoughts and schemes to the cold and hard walls. Your pulse hums through your skin, how far it reverberates in this void is a question not so easily answered. One final page flip and you’ve completed reading through your mission objectives. You are to take sixty of The Empress’s flesh soldiers and completely raze a town about two day’s march outside of Impel. The soldiers will be shaped to take on the appearance of followers of The Broodmother while completing their task. Your task to remain largely out of sight while giving commands, as resistance is almost certainly expected, only getting your hands dirty if absolutely necessary. The mess you leave behind will likely be discovered as the new day dawns and the blame will fall upon The Maw, further instigating the war. Simple enough, and while you don’t know the exact details, Justina and Philomena are to strike other outlying towns in a similar fashion, so sticking out this time as the most successful will prove to be much more difficult than on your previous mission. [1/2]
>>40994015Setting down the mission notes, you lean back in your chair and wearily stretch your limbs. Your eyes catch the still messy bed, and for a brief moment you consider asking for someone to be assigned to clean your quarters. As if you’d be foolish enough to trust anyone around here. You rise from the chair, satisfied with the mission layout. The Empress even put in a note indicating you would be receiving new armor before you set out tomorrow. As you head to sleep for how early your day will begin, you’re stopped with a strange sensation of unsettledness. What questions remain? You know the details of your task, and brooding on it any further only robs you of precious sleep, so what is this problem that lingers in your mind. “Should I come?”It isn’t your question, but the question of a young boy. It’s very unlike Izu to ask your permission for anything really, but these circumstances are quite different. He’s not here to know what the best course of action would be, and can only ask what you think is best. If only he did this all the time. You carefully consider the risks and benefits to having your apprentice arrive here uninvited.>”As soon as you can.”>”Not yet.”>Write in.
>>40994067>”Not yet.”We don't know enough and we're not strong enough.
Hello there!>>40994159Going with the single vote to get the thread rolling.>Writing~
>>40994067>>”Not yet.”Just finished reading all of the archive very early this morning from a three day beng, and damn I have to say Marissa went from best girl -whom I thought we'd maybe pursue- to worst girl real quick. And somewhere along the line we became an elitist bitch with an awesome clone/child.I wish I started this ride sooner. Anyways, new anon reporting for duty in this awesome quest!
>>40994324Glad to have you on board, anon! But the ride is only beginning...
>>40994324Marissa is still great. I'd never say best girl, but she's always been great.Sophia has always been an elitist bitch.
>>40994396I mean at the start Sophia was excited to learn and thrilled about shit and was just smarmy as hell mostly internally but still was pleasant to people without too much of it being just to advance herself. (Which I still find so damnably entertaining) then as she got power she because an elitist. Don't get me wrong, I didn't mean it negatively, she's still a really enjoyable character! HahaEh I don't much care for Marissa anymore and was sad we didn't stomp her vanity when it was stompable. Still an interesting character also, really all of them are with their various complexities and quirks!
>>40994396Sophia is an elitist bitch, but Marissa is fairly reckless and super vain.>>40994542Yeah Auri write a big complex world.>>40994379That new Op always throws me off. Hi Auri!
>>40994542I don't mean it negatively either, but I do think she's always been that way. It's just that now she has the power to back it up.>>40994625Still not negative, and Marissa isn't really that reckless. She might just look that way because Sophia tries to be incredibly cautious.
>>40994625Hey there, anon! Remember that Opening pics change for a reason.
>>40994067>>”As soon as you can.”
>>40994670I know still made me miss a thread and this one's start.>>40994667For good reason looking back.
>>40994667Eh yeah, you're right that she's always been a bit of one, but I disagree in that as she grew in power she because more proud and more of an elitist. But I think that Izu is actually mellowing her out a bit, like when she got pissed at not burning the bucket and paper thing, at the end she turned it into fun. And it was for her benefit.
>>40994917Became* not because. My bad! Haha
>>40994286This place is not your home, there is too much knowledge you lack right now, which leads to lack of strength. “Not yet.” You let your thoughts reach the boy, wherever he may be right now. Whatever innate the two of you share is muddled by your physical distance. He’s speaking quite a bit, you’re sure of it. Probably just rambling about how he’s been holding up, but no specific words reach you. “I’ll do my best!” Izu finishes enthusiastically, and once again you’re alone in the quiet. There’s very little different between before and after that exchange you had with the boy, but as you now rest your body on the enormous bed, a faint smile lingers on your face. Not that you’ll ever tell him about that…You sigh as you wrap the covers over yourself. He already knows…~[1/2]
>>40995026The chilly dawn of this realm clings the parts of your skin that you still have exposed, which thankfully to your cloak and new armor, isn’t very much. The dark armor is light on your body, thin plates protecting your limbs and flexible fabric joins the piece together to make sure your movement isn’t restricted in the slightest. It’s not a set of armor you’d see on any grunt marching out of Impel or Kyraen’Asils, but you’re no traditional soldier. The simple dark colors contrast well with your pale skin and hair, and immediately allows any stranger to know of your importance. You don your long black cloak over it all, and in the dark stillness of the predawn, you stand as an imposing figure. The small horde of flesh soldiers stand at your back, patiently awaiting the order to move out. They have been shaped that even you can hardly tell them apart from those you met while traveling through The Maw. You stand at attention when The Empress finally appears before your eyes to send you on your way.Her eyes are still clearly visible in the darkness, and they hold a smile in them. She’s marvels at your appearance for a few moments. “I know you’ll do well.” She rests her hands upon your shoulders, ready to send you to your destination. “Time is fleeting, but if you have any doubts in your mind, speak them now.” Her smile widens even more. She’s right about time. You signal for your troops to begin to move out, and they promptly burrow into the ground and head for their destination. You turn your attention back to The Empress.>No questions. >Write in.
>>40995046Would they not expect us to do something like this? They know you are powerful and I would not doubt they have spies here even as you do there.
>>40995046Hmm we were given sixty solders, so we can assume the town isn't too large and that we don't have to worry about rapid reinforcement. We were told to raze so that means that we just need to slaughter the majority at least and burn the town. The objective is to get Impel to believe it was the Broodmother, so survivors are fine so long as they don't see us. Any bonus objectives that would be nice to accomplish?
>>40995147Nah, that kinda puts to question her power and that might be taken the wrong way. No need to ask it. If they suspect, then they suspect. We did our job in the end.
>>40995147>>40995195Questions to be asked in prompt and appropriate manner.>Writing~
>>40995264It’s not your show to run anymore, so you do carry a few doubts in your mind. You focus in on her piercing blue eyes. “What’s to keep Impel from suspecting our involvement in this attack?” She laughs lightly. “They will suspect us, as they have suspected our involvement in every attack in the past month. But we will leave them no proof to allow their doubts to become anything more.”You nod your understanding and bow. “Is there anything else we can do to please you, my Empress?”“Always looking to be the best.” She muses with a pensive tone of voice. “If you’re so eager to please, then leave no survivors. I will gauge the differences between your and your companion’s results.”Another thing to worry about, but also a way for you to stand out.You nod one last time. “I’m ready.” “Do us proud.” Her voice fades as you feel yourself being pulled through unknown space to your destination. [1/2]
>>40995836Almost instantly you land, alone and only a few hundred yards from your target. Small columns of smoke from fading bonfires rise from your goal. Only two points of exit in the small fortified walls, and scant over thirty to guard just a hundred. The element of surprise will be yours since your troops can easily bypass their walls by burrowing underneath them. You quietly scout the premises as you await your troops. You’re met with only one outlying scout, and he meets with your knife before he realizes what’s happened. The quiet rumbling of the earth beneath your feet let you know that your soldiers are in position. You’re first commands are to divide them upon where the will first appear. A sizable portion need go to the center of the town to deal with the guards, but you must leave a few to deal with those who wish to retreat. A careful balance must be maintained to ensure that the guards are adequately dealt with, and that no one escape. This is all terribly foreign to you, but your fingers tingle with eager anticipation. You remember the guidelines about how to divide the troops, but the ultimate decision is upon you. Your orders>Follow the suggested amounts in the mission details. >>40995855>>Follow the suggested amounts in the mission details. (Thirty to the center of the town, fifteen to block each exit.)Then have us waiting on the outskirts ready to fly and chase down any who attempt to flee.
>>40995855>Follow the suggested amounts in the mission details. (Thirty to the center of the town, fifteen to block each exit.)If thirty in the center isn't enough we can send in parts of the 15, and block off some of it ourselves.
>>40995855>>Follow the suggested amounts in the mission details. (Thirty to the center of the town, fifteen to block each exit.)Take a vantage point>>40995917Flying is really noticeable>>40995949Not supposed to be seen.
>>40995855>>Follow the suggested amounts in the mission details. (Thirty to the center of the town, fifteen to block each exit.)
>>40995855>>Follow the suggested amounts in the mission details. (Thirty to the center of the town, fifteen to block each exit.)Be ready to personlly intervene in the event of a group of enemies trying to rush one of the groups of 15.We'll not intervene in the center of town. We only personally step in if it looks like some are going to escape. Remember the soldiers are completely expendable and it's better if some die to leave behind evidence that it was the Maws work. So don't be squemish of we lose most of the thirty in the center.
Any way we can seal one or both of the entrances in the wall?
>>40995957>Flying is really noticeableNot if everyone who sees us is dead afterwords. And we only do it if we have to chase someone down.
>>40995957>Not supposed to be seenWe're killing everyone. No survivors.
>>40995973You can seal one path, but it would require you to get nearby to do so.
>>40995983Aye, but it's still a risk we don't need to take yet as some might hide or escape despite the best of our efforts. Maybe a better option would be to find a vantage point to overlook operations without being eye candy. If we see something that worries us we can throw a fist full of fire and then reposition.
>>40995966I like this.
>>40995917>>40995949>>40995957>>40995959>>40995966Looks mostly like following the suggested division of troops, while keeping a look out for and runaways and promptly dealing with them.>Writing~Going to get something to eat really quick, so there might be a slight delay on the next update.
>>40995993Hey everyone, I suggest we seal a path. It would mean we might be seen, but it would make escape much harder for those inside so if we are seen it won't matter too much. And we can teleport ourselves near the other entrance to watch for escapes much easier, we won't have to divide our attention.
>>40995917>>40995966These. Let things proceed as normal and only step in if it looks like escape. Don't be baited by us taking losses to the 30 in the center. Gotta be patient and keep ourself back to make sure none escape. If we commit to the middle then there's nothing to stop them if they manage to break one of the groups of 15.
>>40996064Our teleporting is only short distances.
>>40996019No fistfuls of fire. That's distinctive, and would ruin the deception.>>40996064Maybe if we had re-allocated troops to be 40 to the center and 20 at the other exit. It's too late now.
>>40996089I thought that got better with out repeated use of the control knowledge booster thing?>>40996094Yeah the fire would be I supose.Ah well.
>>40996054It’s best to go by the book, at least for the start. The words need not be said, you will half of your attacking force to emerge in the center of the target, while the rest circle around to block the exits. The second you give the order for them to emerge and begin their assault, you unseal your crimson wings. The pain subsides in a few seconds, and by the time you rise back to your feet, shouts and screams of panics ring out into the predawn sky. You can tell the skin-tight tunic was made with your wings in mind as you feel the crimson growth easily emerge from thin slits in the back of the fabric.Time to make sure no unpleasant fellows trying to take away from your inevitable victory. The cool air embraces your wings as you take flight, aiming to have sight of the entire target. It appears as if your surprise attack has worked, already a half dozen underdressed guards lie dead upon the ground. But they have begun to rally and hold their ground quite well. Very few inhabitants have chanced making their way out of the town, leaving you slightly concerned that they’ll recover from their panic and strike back. In the chaos, a building come alight with flames. The slow but diligent orange fire a far cry from your hungry blue. A little under a dozen inhabitants rush out of the burning building, and immediately join the battle in the center of town. They brandish small knives and long blocks of wood, but approach from behind, surrounding your center force. The battle in the center of town in not going your way, and more wavering souls watch on and begin think that they may win with more help. Meanwhile, those you have blocking the exits have killed less than ten. You need to act, and quickly. >Send twelve soldiers in total from both groups to assist the battle in the center of town. >>40996661>>40996697>>40996720Haha who was it that said throwing fire was a five away earlier? >>40996601Anyways, I still say seal on exit and have those stationed there rush their way to the middle.
>>40996787>Haha who was it that said throwing fire was a five away earlier? >>40996661and>>40996094are both me.
>>40996808Huh, so what changed? Was it just the having them drag the bodies to the burnt building?
>>40996912The building got set on fire with no interference from us. If charred corpses are inside a burnt building, they won't be unnatural, like they would be if they were in the middle of the street or trying to flee the town.
>>40996787 Things have changed now that there's a burning building. Also i say we burn the entire town to the ground. Take all the bodies and burn them in a pile in the center. Impel would take it as more of an insult and it would be a way to be better than our peers. >>40996912 Yeah. Fire without a natural cause would be suspicious.
>>40997023Yea, it's natural to burn a place to the ground when raiding it. But just a few burned bodies amidst a bunch of natural deaths would be suspicious.
>>40997015>>40997023I thought it was implied that we'd burn the town, we were after all, told to raze it after all with no survivors. I even said as much earlier with the question prompt. Oh well haha, regardless it's happeneing.
>>40997173I just really wanna pile the bodies in the center and burn them all. It's kind of like a big "Fuck You" to Impel.
So should we take our dead with us? Is that what the Maw would do? Or would they just leave them where they die?
>>40996778Ten troops immediately surge upon the center of town, and you close in as well. Looks like it finally time to get your hands dirty. You perch upon a tall building looking over the clash in the center of town and look for appropriate targets. Your set upon a fully armored guard who makes quick work of your troops that fall in his path. The threat of defeat quickly initiates the caustic flames in your hand and you hurl a bolt directly at his meddlesome body. Almost instantly he roasts in a pillar of blue, hardly a scream being let out before his armor collapses onto a pile of ash.“PAPA!” A small boy shrieks in horror from the building beneath you.Something heavy flies past by your head. “You demon!” The shrill voice of a woman shouts at you, as she begins to fling whatever she can get her hands on.Yeah, who’s the one who has horns here? You sigh and fly to the building across from you. Carefully picking your targets, you swiftly turn the tide of the battle and immediately take off to survey the outskirts. But now, you must make absolutely sure that you allow no potential witnesses to leave. The once negligible piles of bodies at the foot of the exits have now become stacked high with dozens of mauled corpses. You’ve won, at this point all that matters now is ensuring that no one make it out of here alive. That might prove troublesome as the few dozen left in the town converge upon one exit, and terrified few chance leaping from the walls, most horrendously injuring themselves in the process, but a few stumble away largely unharmed. Troops from the center of town can finally be reassigned, but where should they go?>Have your troops fall back to the exit under duress, deal with the brave jumpers, personally.>Have your troops deal with the jumpers, while you fall back upon the exit.>Write in.
>>40997333>>Have your troops deal with the jumpers, while you fall back upon the exit.
>>40997225Bruh, we aren't really in this though haha. We don't have any real negative feelings (kinda) against Impel or any real loyalty to that bitch we're serving. What I'm getting at is totally no need for that excessivness or going out of our way for that haha. Then again I suppose it would work to increase hostilities between Impel and the BroodMother is Impel does end up believing it to be them.
>>40997333>>Have your troops fall back to the exit under duress, deal with the brave jumpers, personally. We have the mobility of flight and we can just fly around and snipe them.
>>40997333>Have your troops fall back to the exit under duress, deal with the brave jumpers, personally.
>>40997333>Have your troops deal with the jumpers, while you fall back upon the exit.
>>40997333>>Have your troops fall back to the exit under duress, deal with the brave jumpers, personally.
>>40997333Last time saying this>seal the exit under derass and have available units hung those from the wallFrees up that entire side leaving more available units to hunt and watch the only other exit. With that we can easily grab everyone. And after placing the seal we can return to the air and watch for where we are needed.
>>40997428Seconding. Seal. then take half of the ones that would have normally defended that entrance and have them aid us in killing the jumpers.
changing >>40997368 to >>40997470>>40997464can we do this? since I've changed my vote.
>>40997428>>40997470>>40997491I wasn't going to say anything, but since this idea seems to be gaining traction....You do know the ones giving us trouble aren't using either exit, right? They're jumping over the edges of their own wall. Sealing an exit won't do much at this point.
>>40997491For the sake of consistency, I'm afraid I'm going to stay with what's been announced already.
>>40997514There's a group of a couple dozen rushing an exit. There are also a number of people jumping over the walls. 2 problems.>>40997533mmk, no problem. I think it'll work either way. and if not then we'll just have remaining troops pursue after killing those rushing the exit.
>>40997514This is just for argument's sake since Auri won't be using it, which is fine, but what I meant was we place the seal and then return to taking care of jumpers. What it does is frees up that side and the units there to help hunt jumpers, kill the rest in town, and reinforce the other side. It's whatever though, just convenient.
>>40997464Those few dozen attempting to flee from the exit are being dealt with quite handedly, so the threat of some escaping will be easily resolved be reassigning the center troops to assist.Ten flesh soldiers fall back at your command, and leaving just the right amount to clean up the town proper. With that, you take off once again into the slowly lightening sky and spot three successful runaways, limping with all their might. Inconveniently enough, one is on the complete opposite side of the others. You rush closer to the lone runaway, a force a seal upon him, completely rooting his being to where he stands now. He nor anyone else will move him from that spot any time soon. The cold air bites at your face as you blast to the other side of town, promptly setting eyes upon your unfortunate targets and yanking each of them from the ground with their uninjured limbs. They both gasp as very suddenly their perspective is shifted upside-down. “Whoa!” One of the young men exclaim upon seeing you. “You’re very pretty!” You slow down your rate of flight quite significantly. “Thank you very much.” Then you grin wildly as you turn back to the town. “But I’m not here to help you.”The two of them meet with the ground quite roughly, most likely breaking another limb. A few moments later, their sealed companion thuds heavily to the ground, and then gasps frantically for air as you release the seal upon him. Both exits have been successfully secured, and the few left alive are all rounded up to the center of town, for ease of processing. Flames and large swaths of flesh litter the town. Mission successful-[1/2]
>>40998021“Please! Just let my son live. H-he can serve you, just let him live.” A familiar voice pleads with you.You roll your eyes and turn to one of the flesh soldiers. Through some means, it’s able to communicate with you that the group successfully fulfilled your orders and twenty-five troops are no longer viable for combat. The losses could be better, but you did very well overall. Now what to do with the mess…Again one of the flesh soldiers communicate their wishes to add the viable corpses to their numbers. Strangely enough, there was no specific mention of how to dispose of the inhabitants of the town, only to dispose of them completely. Is adding to their numbers something that the armies of The Maw would do?>Allow for the viable bodies to be added to the group's numbers. >>40998233You’re here to make a scene, not at all to bolster your numbers. Thus, the more bodies graphically lying about, the better. You signal your intention to one of the flesh soldiers, and without the slightest bit of hesitation, they fulfill their duties. Piercing wails soon turn to moans of anguish and then the only sounds left greeting the rising sun is the heavy squelching of torn flesh. The burned bodies, or what was left of them, was moved to the burning building, your fallen were left for anyone passing by to witness their forms, and in just a few predawn hours, a thriving town was reduced to nothing. For a few brief moments you allow yourself to bask in your success, heat from the flames and torn flesh all around you, embracing you in fruits of your labor. Upon your signal, the remnants of your small horde burrow into the ground, and make their way back home. You flow into the sky with victorious glory and head for the rendezvous point in which you, Justina, and Philomena will be transported back to the palace. You grin with tingling excitement, you quite enjoyed this bit of exercise you received. But all pleasure is quickly replaced by a bitter taste in your mouth as you realize upon which circumstances you find yourself here today. [1/2]
>>40998731You’re quick to shake that feeling off, and you suddenly realize that you’re quite a bit ahead of schedule. Why not take the time to attend to some unassigned matters you’ve been wanting to look into? You rise high above the rendezvous point, and search far into the distance. A smile forms on your face as you spot your targets. Of course she’d give them closer objectives, they aren’t as mobile as you are. A few miles apart you spot two villages approximately the same size as the one you just finished dealing with. Neither of them have any markers such as huge plumes of smoke. But from one, you are almost certain you can hear frequent loud bangs of unexplained noise. You don’t know which, but Justina and Philomena are likely in the midst of assaulting those towns. This most certainly isn’t part of your assignment, but curiosity beckons. So everyone, while he writes, we need to probably begin discussion on our eventual rise to being the true Empress, or to just being free to goof off when or how we please. So I guess first thing is what we're going to aim for, and then we gotta figure out how to get it. Regardless we need to get stronger before we can do anything.(I read the achieve and mostly skipped over discussion, so if we already have a goal or plan then my bad and please fill me in)
>>40999353At the end I meant that I only read the archive up until this point, and I skipped discussions a lot of the time so I don't know if we have plans right now or even a goal.Though I do remember us answering that we wanted what was ours safe, to know everything, and to rule, but I'm not sure if that changed since then or if it was sincere.
>>40999353Can you take off your name, first of all?Second, we haven't really talked about it but I was planning on reclaiming our old empire.
>>40999405>Second, we haven't really talked about it but I was planning on reclaiming our old empire.Kinda underleveled for that at the moment. Lets just be a good little warlock and bide our time.
>>40999186I changed my vote, partly because we can make this person owe us, partly because I wanted Sealing more than Pyromancy, and partly because we aren't exactly at a discreet location.
>>40999492So here's one. How about every other vote for pyromancy? Now that I look closer, they all seem to be slightly over one minute apart. How curious.
>>40999193Still waters run deep. You’ll just have to be careful not to be trapped in any depths. You lock onto the silent village and rush toward it. You approach it from a great height, even with a battle still very likely raging, no sense in giving up any of your secrets. The closer you approach, the more bizarre the complete silence of the town is. Could it be that whoever was there already finished their work? But why didn’t you see anyone approaching the rendezvous point? No screams, no banging of metal, nothing. You draw nearer to the village, carefully. Your wings tense up from your own confusion. Where are the troops, the guards, or even the villagers? Then you see it. A hulking creature of thick taupe flesh, standing nearly twice your height while hunched over. It’s looming over something unseen, but the amount of crimson fluid pouring from it gives more than a hint of what it is. It gnaws and chews at a great feast before it, dark black orbs for eyes not discriminating between the differently clothed figures, taking all into its hungry jaws. The enormous hands of the thing scoops and tears at the viscera. Only the crude chewing, and the steamy and fetid self-satisfied sighs of the creature remain to be heard in this town. There was no fight here, the broken bodies and torn buildings signal that the objective has largely been completed. All thanks to this hungry beast, with unassuming light brown hair growing from the tight flesh around its head.~
>>40999405Oh yeah sure my bad, it's a pain to manage the name between this thread and another so I just left it. But I agree with working towards ruling.>>40999476Yeah we're under leveled now, but I'm just saying for a goal to work towards and aim for. Plus if we know now what we want then we can start plotting for it.
>>40999613Okay, that's where I'm going to end it for tonight. It's great to be back into the action, and I want to thank everyone that played today! As always, if you have any questions or comments, please feel free to post them in the thread and I will do my best to respond to them.If not, then I wish you a good day/night, and hope to see you again next run!>(Twitter)https://twitter.com/QM_Auri
>>40999613which of our 2 compatriots have light brown hair again?
>>40999651Well, it is an unassuming color to match its owner.
>>40999621>we can start plotting for itThat is how you get caught.
>>40999638thx for runin budi gud thredLook like in addition to being a big disgusting monster Philomena has summa dat Mind Control.>>40999670No, being sloppy is how you get caught.
>>40999665Philomena, Which given people always seem to miss her and how quiet she is make sense.
>>40999685You're very welcome!
>>40999638Thanks a lot for running today, was lots of fun!For questions, how much free time to we normally have for practice and the like?Is enchantment a form of magic we could somehow figure out how to use? Because we have a neat set of armor now(which I think lacks any special properties? Right)Sophia's favorite color? And do we still have necromancy book?
>>40999670True, but if we don't plot when the time comes we might be ill prepared. Risk and reward and all that. But we'll continue playing loyal servant feeling things out, forming ideas internally but not acting on anything yet.
>>40999718You're very welcome, I had fun as well!It depends on the particular point of time in the quest, but I imagine you'll have on average around two or so free days between missions/tasks to attend to practicing your skills, and plotting various schemes.Enchantment is something I'm still working on since a few people showed interest in it last thread, but what I have in mind involves taking advantage of potent creatures. And as far as you know, your current armors lacks special properties.Heh, I like these kinds of questions. Red, most definitely. The necromancy book is in the pile of your belongings, yes.
>>40999826Noice! Thanks! Anyways I'm off, have a good night!
>>40999903You're very welcome and good night to you as well!
>>40999826So has Sophia been perfecting her teleport backstab? Also anything if note on dealing or pyromancy practice? Since she has that flame amp dagger has she been practicing with it to get it and blade work down? Anything on Necromany or delving improve?
I like the idea of a character's journal. I might have to steal that for one of my future quests.
>>40999933Will there be any other types of magics introduced or offered? Right now with all this big hitters I feel that we're a little limited on what we have and a fair bit predictable.Though what we do have is pretty strong and reliable I have to say.
>>41000021Sealing not dealing* also she study the inter planar travel bit in the tome?
>>40999826Still angling for the pyromancy trick a mentioned last thread.>Circular tragejectory>If target is not hit, returns to dagger to become flame blade>Repeat multiple times>When attacking, channel flame blade to cover our entire body
>>41000068>When attacking, channel flame blade to cover our entire bodyUUHThere might be a problem with this course of actionWe aren't immune to our own flames.
>>41000052Not the place I know, but I'm kinda curious and feel a little chatty so whatever, have you run any before and what do you have planned? Always fun to join in on all these different ones.
>>41000021The way Sophia learned teleportation, practicing will only get her more used to, and won't really improve her skills terribly much. Delving hasn't been used much since the festival, but your pyromancy and sealing has and will show subtle improvements as you use them in different situations. And Sophia isn't terribly enthusiastic about improving blade work, but may look into Necromancy again if prompted. >>41000052Please, go ahead!>>41000056There are a few fields left to be introduced, some had the potential of being introduced earlier, but may still show up.>>41000068I could see it developing into something we use, but keep in mind there might be some limitations you've yet to encounter.
>>41000139So much what about the last time discipline the inter planar travel one? Anything with it?
>>41000091didn't we get it up our arm without burns a while back? The main point is that the Usurper noselled the tele-backstab with a grab, so we should layer a feint somehow. Got any other ideas other than putting attention on the blade when the real attack is a fire hug?>>41000139do we have the lard?
>>41000174You'll likely get a lot of practice with this skill, especially if you wish to travel in your free time, since your base of operations in one of the outer planes.>>41000187We do not, I'm afraid. So much was lost that night, so much...
>>41000221Any chance of we could find the others? Grievermillion know what's happened?
>>41000250I don't know if its the best idea to get in contact with Grievy right now.
>>41000250Of course there's a chance to find the others, but who knows what else you might find in the process. And Grievermillion almost certainly knows what happened.
>>41000139Has our uhh counclor? The demon we rescued who's name I can't remember nor spell, has that one contacted us or anything? Also, for magic are ideas welcome? I've got nothing right now but was thinking of new ways we can use the things we have at our disposal currently like with Necromancy maybe something to do with rot that could be used to great affect since a lot of flesh shaping/control is being used by people around us.
>>41000280Just wanted to see if he had heard. He said he'd find us remember?>>41000284How fast can Sophia fly?>>41000297Grieved million is his name and no. We could try to learn flesh shaping or try and reverse pyromancy to cryomancy.
>>41000297Grievermillion has yet to contact you, he wouldn't risk giving away one of your most important secrets.Different ideas to use our abilities are very welcome! Taking advantage of your enemies strengths is a very wise idea.>>41000323Quite fast, but not excessively so. I'd put it around 60-70mph.
>>41000323Yeah just say the posts above mine, was busy typing. But no point in learning flesh shaping as others do that now. If we tried to use it against them, we would probably lose since we aren't won't be as experienced or skilled. And we'd have to spend too much time to get to past their level, so I think it might be easier to just learn something that counters it. I like the cryomancy idea. Maybe taking heat away or something?
>>41000385That or a fire that burns as cold as Sophia's heart.>>41000380Cryomancy viable?
>>41000428I'll have to think about it, but manipulating the thermodynamic potential of certain things is something you already do, it's finding a reason to think about doing it in reverse that might prove difficult to implement.
>>41000477Simple fire is wonderful but by it's nature burns if we contain it in an envelope of cold the ambient energy is less likely to burn us,additionally it lets us concentrate the heat we took for the envelope into the fire making creating and sustaining the fire before we shoot it easier. That's the base go from there as we realize, more useful than it first appeared.
>>41000092I've run a few one-shots and a couple civilization quests.I'm still in the planning phases of a not!Pokemon quest.
>>41000524Yes, but Sophia would have to expend energy to lower the temperature of the flame, in an area much larger than the flame itself. To do so extensively would be incredibly taxing.
Alright everyone still here, I thought about the best thing to learn next. Our Pyromancy and ability at seals is pretty great right now, they could be better but I think we need to broaden our spectrum a little bit. But not by studying something new, that would take too much time. I propose that we go back into necromancy and focus on rot and the likes. Preferably an AEO cloud of rot that rots away at anything inside. My reason being is lately we've found a lot of fleshy or flesh controlling opponents. While fire is a great way or countering it, this is perfect and gives us another thing we can use. My reason for preferring a cloud is because the Usurper has demonstrated the ability to use teleportation better than Ali's one underling who was pretty good at it (so advancing our own won't do massive good against her unless we can get better than her, but that would take too much time if even possible). With a cloud of disintegrating rot, we could surround ourselves (we need to find a way to make it ineffective on us) and her general area thus making it difficult for her to attack us and fully escape harm. We can throw smart/highly explosive fire missiles/bombs at her all the while rendering her shields useless and her in rotten situation.
>>41000640Rather than Necromancy I'd like to pick up a defensive skill, kinda like Izu's fire shield, or something that can toughen us up. I was hoping we could learn that from him, but it looks like we never did. Right now we're all offense, and that needs to change.
>>41000585Not really it basically taking all the heat from one area and concentrating it into a point. Should be more energy efficient if she has the fine control. Average energy of the area would be the same just more concentrated. Unlike say pyromancy where you're burning off energy to create the fire.
>>41000689Izu has a totally different fire then us, I can't remember the words or where it was but I don't think we can do exactly what he does. But we do have a fire shield, check the character sheets. With necromancy we could maybe strengthen ourselves through it, and Auri said hes working on enchanting some people were asking about it.
>>41000640The Usurper is simply experienced in combat, the raw talents of VIcki and The Usurper have been mentioned in passing in previous runs.>>41000701But the heat from the increasingly concentrated flames would have an incredible impulse to diffuse naturally into the regions devoid of heat, and depending on the size of the area around the flame, which would no matter what, be larger than the flame itself, keeping that from happening is what would expend the huge amounts of energy,
>>41000701>>41000701>No you're wrong about how the system you made works!
>>41000640After having typed this, I just realized I have no idea the what the Usurper can do beyond tping and shields. So while i still kinda support this, not as much so anymore with so much Unknown.
>>41000765Ok you caught me. I just have a personal bias against necromancy and feel like your time would be better spent pursuing literally any other field.
>>41000785Good point. Pyromancy and cryomancy are they same things in reverse right? Maybe in an effort to improve her flame she takes it apart piece by price and figures out enough of the basics to do it in reverse? >>41000827She can into pyromancy too considering her giving us that lesson.
>>41000904>She can into pyromancy too considering her giving us that lesson.I don't think so. We've never seen her use it, and her advice was just addressing a weakness that anyone could have pointed out.
>>41000904I'll try to think of an impetus for us to start considering working our flames in reverseAnd, with that. I'll be stepping out now. Until next time!
>>41000924She caught our bolt in her hands and shot it back at us.
Oh shit guys I just remembered something. You remember the occult hunters? Didn't their masks ask as a small ward or something against occult magics? If I'm not pulling a retard we gotta slip Ali the info somehow since she's in the human world and is more likely to get the info and have her devise something.Imagin how that benefit is against a lot of the things we will fight?
>>41000841Whatttt haha whys that mate? And cmon man, who cares what we use so long as we get the edge right?
>>41000950No, it almost reached her before suddenly shooting back at us. We don't know how she redirected it, but it didn't look like pyromancy because she never made contact with the flames.>>41000981I'm sure Ali knows already anon.
>>41000981It also negated emotions going by what Laurent said. Which was its main purpose. Let them kill and feel no guilt.
>>41001013I feel like pursuing literally any other field will give us more of an edge than necromancy will.
>>41001041And why do you feel that way? If you can come up with something that beats the rot cloud idea then go for it!
>>41001093Use pyromancy to emit fire in all directions. Has the same effect and we're already good with it. Hell, it has a better effect because burning happens faster than rotting.
GoddammitMissdd the thread againSEND HELP
>>41001127personally, I'm partial to rot clouding the massive armies sent to us and the general area while fire shrouding a couple inches around us. More energy efficient, if I'm thinking this right.
