Your name is Thomas Cairn, and you have no clue what you jumped into. Your dad was a famous superhero known as The Red Rider, and he showed up dead in an alley about a year ago. When you were checking out a storage unit you inherited from him, everything changed. You gained his powers, a brain able to calculate faster than light, and an uncanny affinity for machinery.Using your powers, you were easily able to get into the world's top engineering college, Central Cosmopolis Institute. You never moved past Dad's ideas though, and you couldn't stand the gap The Red Rider made, so you filled it. You made a suit of power-armor and became The Red Knight, however, you lacked experience. So you managed to get a mentor, Wrench, so that you could learn the Hero business. Of course the only way to learn is experience, so you spent a good portion of your free time breaking up Mafia operations around Cosmopolis. The people have taken a shine to you. They were scared about The Red Rider's "hiatus", but now that you're here they think that, like other normal Supers, he passed on the torch. The crowds love you, every time you fly by at least 20 phones come out, but no good comes without a price...Archived Threads: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Superhuman%20LegacyPastebinsTech Tree: http://pastebin.com/9uxS0teLPlot Point Perks: http://pastebin.com/q8wm3Lr3MC Sheet: http://pastebin.com/aNFFXTCU
BAM!KRRRACK!POW!Okay, you can stop making the noises brain, you get it. These mafiosos were supposed to be a lot scarier than this, you remember hearing that the "Cosmafia", whose name sucks, is the most ruthless crime organization in the US. Really makes these guys feel like pushovers."Hey Wrench," the voice modulator in your helmet distorts your voice to a deep, rumbling baritone, "is it normally this easy?"Wrench replies in much the same way, "No, sometimes they have a Super, but I've handled those on my own, so this is a cakewalk."Always looking for a way to feel cool it seems, you've noticed that most Supers have an ego problem, but that must be par for the course. You're train of thought is interrupted by a large man running at you with a bat.Good thing you practiced...>SCARS (Focuses on causing the target to flinch into the next attack, extremely painful, but non-lethal)>Boxing (Focuses on punching the opponent with a closed fist, pretty straight-forward, non-lethal)>Judo (Focuses on throws and grabs, can take down much larger opponents, non-lethal)>Krav Maga (Focuses on attacking weak points, highly aggressive, causes serious injury outside of the suit, but inside of the suit it is definitely lethal)

You flip the mafioso over your back and throw him across the alleyway where this drug deal was going down. He hits the wall with a thud and is out cold."Sir, there are reinforcements heading your way. It seems the mafia has an investment in that cargo they don't want to lose." RON has been monitoring all data for this part of town, so he can see through traffic cameras and the like. Makes you wonder what the mafia wants this cargo for."Hey, I think we're done here." Wrench has put the unconscious crooks in a pile next to a dumpster and called the police."So what exactly is this cargo? Why are they willing to bring reinforcements?""Beats me. We should get out of here though.""Agreed."The black van at the end of the alley is definitely shady, you picked up that it was criminals right away. Why is it always black or white vans? Lightning bugs were an idea that you're rather proud of, make tasers the size of a grain of sand. In the lab they function perfectly, administering the exact voltage of a taser, but they need to be in a group so they can move. The two vans pull into the alley on either side and they seem to be trying to block in anyone inside. Too bad that roofs exist. Out of the back of each steps a mafioso that is at least eight feet tall flanked by two normal thugs holding high-caliber rifles. Those would definitely pierce your suit, it isn't exactly meant to stop 50 cal. bullets. The trap is set and the bear is walking the path of its doom. The Lightning Bugs work like a charm and the four non-roided thugs are on the ground writhing in pain with their guns laying on the ground. They should be unconscious in a second. However, the Bugs seem to be having no effect on the two big ones besides causing them to twitch a bit. Finally one turns so you can see its face and...That isn't supposed to look that way, is he cosplaying as Frankenstein's monster? Is this some kind of fear tactic? It looks real, at least from a distance. The two hulking crooks seem to be idly wandering around, not even once looking at their compatriots' guns and instead just kind of grunting at each other. Swooping around back through the alleyway, you take a few slices at the two undead cretins. One of them is completely decapitated by a flying slash to the neck, while the other loses an arm to a flurry of cuts. The first thing you notice is that the headless one turns into ashes shortly after it's injury. You prepared for this, if this isn't what Judo is for, then fuck that teacher guy. Well, this isn't exactly training on that girl from Cooking who also does Judo, for one she didn't smell like a crematorium. But this should work. The brute growls and scrapes the ground like a bull, like a stupid, undead, bull. How fitting that you're wearing red. Then he charges and you realize that you may have miscalculated your stance a bit. Instead of going for the shoulder wide stance that you use for class, you spread your legs a bit farther and shift to the side. This guy should be heavier than your normal sparring partner. The hulking pile of gray flesh hits you like a steamroller, or at least it would have if you didn't take all that momentum and put it into a flip. You almost messed up your stance, any different and this guy would have sent you flying. The mountainous cadaver hits the ground behind you with a sickening crack. It doesn't dissolve, so you start curbstomping it for a bit and soon enough it disappears into a cloud of ash."Sir, there was an anomaly in communications, cause unknown. Inside the hole is a briefcase that has a 3-digit combination. Yeah, fuck that. You cut the lock with your blade and the case swings open. Inside is what looks like a totem of a crow with an exaggerated beak. It kind of looks like Gonzo from the Muppets, if he got into heroin."Hey man, wait for me next time. I want to kill zombies too." Maybe Mr. Salvos knows somebody that can examine this. He knows people right? And being a Super for a decade or so must mean he has encountered something similar at least once. After about an hour of deliberation, it seems that neither Swordsman, Lady Liberty, or Wrench know anybody who could help who doesn't hate them or The Red Rider. Seems Dad rubbed mages the wrong way. International Heroes United is a huge organization, and not being a part of it closes a lot of doors, but they normally work for tax exemptions or privileges so many Supers are non-union.On the bright side, Uncle Wong's still tastes delicious, the cane handle is safe, and you busted a bunch of crooks. So this mission wasn't a complete failure."Sir, after investigating the anomaly from earlier, it seems it was caused by an electrical disturbance, similar to a storm.""So, anything about that kind of magic stuff, it seems impossible, but I fought a zombie.""There are many Supers that claim their powers are magical, but this is un-quantifiable, so nobody can prove anything.">It is 1PM on Saturday>Call the Ex-villains, maybe they know a guy>Scour the web>Experiment on the handle>Write-in

Think of it this way guys, Magic and Science are two sides of a coin. Okay, and you can only use one at a time, but if you can somehow tilt the coin a bit then Magitech sort of works. >>40787090That direct option isn't, but there is some potential for a related concept of, say, a Quantum Armory, where a bracelet or band serves as an anchor for quantum entanglement of certain items, which are stored in a similarly anchored containment unit, allowing us to quantum tunnel weapons to our position through the aforementioned entanglement. So, we couldn't store the weapons inside the bracelet, but instead "teleport" them to our hand from their storage space. Which could, logically, be interrupted if the items weren't stored properly, or no longer in their vault.

They will be given their own lab and their own funds, and be allowed to do whatever they wish as though they were the emperor and that lab were their empire. Each lab would be a self-contained hotbed sealed air-tight and with oxygen, water, and food recyclers to ensure that anyone within would be able to, theoretically, survive an indefinite amount of time, ala Schrodinger's Box. Each lab would be a vault, the information within secured save for a single, heavily-protected landline linking up their computer with a central server. The vaults will be impenetrable, contained with advanced materials at least a foot thick capable of both surviving a thermonuclear explosion at point blank range (even from within), and safely containing a black hole, though nothing inside would be so lucky. Even potentially world-ending experiments (if approved) would be safe to perform as far as the outside world was concerned. As for families, a community will be set up nearby, with information flow monitored and any "guests" screened. Within this community, any and all advancements that would potentially benefit the common man will be first implemented here. Plasma kitchen knives (with appropriate safety features), experimental medical procedures (that have been properly vetted), and entertainment unseen anywhere else (following a proper screening, review, and volunteer playtesting with thorough examination of content coding).
>>407901402. Plagiarism is a non-issue. All information is carefully guarded and contained on the local servers, with backups made hourly. Every lab has its own individual RON-based AI assistant, and the computers are all made on-site with the best technology that every egghead on the planet can produce. If someone wants to make money off of what's made in the Think Tank, it first gets approved by a committee, and then a third of the profits go right back into the Think Tank, to help pay for all the amazing science happening. Everyone's work will, unless the committee deems it unsafe, be shared with everyone at the Think Tank via a public server which is, again, accessible by a single heavily-secured landline. If you leave the Think Tank, you will be monitored, followed, and censored as the Think Tank sees fit, though noone is going to stop you from using your hard-earned cash (and possible shows of gratitude for their contribution to the sciences from the Tank) on whatever you may wish. Merely to keep you from introducing to the world things that were not approved. You may try, of course, but at your own risk, because you will be pissing off people who know all your tricks, all your tools, all your sciences, who are at least as smart as you and far more numerous, with far more resources, and all of them professional academics. Academia is a cut-throat business by nature.3. Magic is bullshit. We are men of science. Math, Logic, and Rationale are our Holy Trinity. Magic is quite severely not tolerated. While we might glance the other way if you wish to try and put numbers to magitech, people who solely practice magic are not welcome. Namely because of the risk of magical exposure corrupting servers. As such, a team of trusted mages is always on hand to ensure that the entire zone is Magic-Free, save in approved areas.
