Ladies, Gentlemen, Neckbeards of all ages! Come one, come all, and witness the birthing of a new /tg/ chapter! The rolling of the dice determines the fate of an entire band of Space Marines! Oh the thrill! Oh the excitement! So let's begin, and roll up a chapter!A single d10 roll for why they were founded, if you Anons would be so kind.
Rolled 4 (1d10)>>40406548Sure
>>40406658Why, that's Strategic Prognostication! With the supposed foreknowledge of a threat, this chapter was produced to counter said threat! But when exactly was this, Anons?Perhaps a 1d100 roll will remind us.
Rolled 62 (1d100)>>40406683
>>40406710Ah, now I remember! The 39th Millenium was when they were founded. And what a great Millenium it was too! But which chapter was their Progenitor, Anon? Surely you know? What's that? A 1d100 roll? But of course! Go right ahead!
Rolled 78 (1d100)Ima rollin
>>40406781Of course, of course, the Dark Angels! Thank you, Anon. I don't know how I'd get by without you. So, could I ask another favor? I need a 1d10 roll for this chapter's purity. Just a teensy one.
Rolled 9 (1d10)>>40406814Sure
Rolled 10 (1d10)>>40406814NONE PURER
Rolled 4 (1d10)>>40406862Our purity seals have purity seals!
>>40406860>>40406862My goodness! This chapter is most certainly flawed. Flawed indeed! Most troubling. Maybe a d10 roll for Chapter Demeanor will lighten the mood?
Rolled 6 (1d10)Can't remember the last time we made a sororitas order. It saddens me, brothers.
Rolled 5 (1d10)>>40406916Same brother, same
>>40406916See, But Don't Be Seen. It appears that this chapter favors the smart and stealthy approach. More intriguing by the minute. What mutation does this bunch have? A d10 roll should assist.
Rolled 6 (1d10)>>40406968
>>40406998Lost zygote. Oh dear oh dear. One of the Chapter's Zygotes has completely ceased to function. They're without one of their specialized organs. Well that is indeed a downer. Maybe the d10 roll for the chapter flaw will be more exciting?
Rolled 4 (1d10)>>40407075
Rolled 5 (1d10)>>40407075
>>40407131Faith in Suspicion. This chapter hates a single imperial institution, and so, does not work with them. I wonder who?At any rate, let's talk about the great hero of the chapter! Who was he, again? In 1d100, please.
>>40407195> This chapter hates a single imperial institution, and so, does not work with them>DA succesor>one instituion>one
Rolled 94 (1d100)>>40407195
>>40407305Why, he was an ordinary battle brother! Fancy that! Roll a d10 twice, so we can know what company and squad he was from.
Rolled 4, 1 = 5 (2d10)>>40407340
Rolled 1, 7 = 8 (2d10)>>40407340
>>40407369This battle brother was from the 4th company's 1st squad! Interesting, quite interesting. Now let's see if we can figure out what this hero did that makes him a hero! A roll of 1d100 ought to do it!
Rolled 23 (1d100)>>40407417
>>40407440This figure is remembered as the bane of the orks. So much so that they know his name even today! Next up, this chapter's homeworld. What kind of world is it, Anon? 1d100 style.
Rolled 10 (1d100)Shrine world beach planet!Battle Sisters in bikinis!
>>40408225A Hive world, eh? Seems a little cramped if you ask me. Roll another d100 for the terrain.
Rolled 26 (1d100)>>40407484Rollan
Rolled 9 (1d100)So, are we reasonable yet?
Rolled 30 (1d100)>>40408259
>>40408275It's a jungle out there. Literally! So how does this chapter rule? 1d10, I suppose.
Rolled 4 (1d10)>>40408316Rollan
>>40408329A stewardship. They're at least indirectly in control of the planet. So, how codex adherant are these marines, on the 1d10 scale?
Rolled 2 (1d10)>>40408349Rollan some more. Please make them reasonable.
Rolled 10 (1d10)>>40408349Rolling dem dice
>>40408401Ladies and gentlemen, we have a Unique Organization on our hands! Congraaaaaaaaatulations! But how do these marines like to play when things get rough? A d10 for combat doctrine, my good Anons!
Rolled 10 (1d10)>>40408446Rolling for something good
>>40408482A 10? Why that is TERROR! Quite an excellent fit, wouldn't you say? But since this is a unique organization, they can't field a specific unit. Such a shame. But we might as well roll a d100 and see what it is.
Rolled 22 (1d100)>>40408530
Rolled 75 (1d100)>>40408530>TerrorAllahu Emperor!What does terror entail?
Rolled 23 (1d100)>>40408554Murderlising people with coffee machines apparently.
Rolled 68 (1d100)>>40408572Neat. I'm into scaring Chaos with Roadside Coffee Machines.
>>40408540This company field no assault marines! Not a one! Close combat must be quite troublesome. But hey, at least they have special equipment! Speaking of which, we need a 1d100 roll for said equipment!>>40408554Consulting the holy rites of battle themselves, terror is all about striking fear into the hearts of their foes.
Rolled 90 (1d100)>>40408597Come on flamers
Rolled 42 (1d100)>>40408597>No assault marines>Terror How. Rolling.
>>40408620>Preferred Fighting Style: The Chapter has a specific way in which it prefers to go about killing the enemy in the name of the God Emperor of Mankind. Examples: Bolt Pistol and Chainsword, dual Power Swords, special Bolter pattern or ammunitionInterpret this how you wish, my brothers! Perhaps a kind of bolter pattern or ammunition designed for maximum psychological damage as well as physical? But that aside, what form does this chapter's beliefs take? A d100 ought to reveal it.
Rolled 2 (1d100)>>40408597
>>40408670Hmmm maybe using lots of flechette rounds to maximise wounds and collateral damage. Meaning those that survive often have large amounts of wounds and scars.
>>40408671They think that the Lion is top shelf highest quality flavor of Primarch. A d10 roll for the strength of this chapter, if you please!
Rolled 7 (1d10)>>40408757rolling for over-strength
>>40408766Alas Anon, this chapter is only nominal. But before we proceed to our allies, you may recall we rolled for mutation and got lost zygote. Well now it's time to roll for which organ was lost. A d100, please and thank you!
Rolled 38 (1d100)>>40408822go go go
>>40408835This chapter is missing their Lyman's Ear. The ability to filter out certain sounds and focus on others, their enhanced heaing, and even their inability to get dizzy or motion sick are all gone.Make of this what you will. Next up, our allies!
Rolled 7 (1d100)>>40408921Too many IED's. Rolling.
>>40408921By which I mean a 1d00 roll, as per usual.
>>40408943Why, this chapter gets along famously with the Adeptus Arbites. But what about their enemies? The final 1d100 roll.
Rolled 48 (1d100)>>40408975We need to IED them. Rolling.
>>40408995Tyranids. Why did it have to be tyranids. Well Anons, that's all the rolls. What happens next is up to youuuuuuuuuuu!
Well considering it is a DA based chapter its name will most likely be Angels of something or other.
>>40409011What's our Chapter Name?
>>40409260What about Angels of the Abyss?
>>40409260That's your job. You need to figure out all the fluff for this chapter. I just ran the thing. I can do a recap of course, concentrating all the relevant data into a single post.
>>40409294>>40409303الإرهاب الامبراطورNeeds more terror.
>>40409354More Terror you say!How about Death's Shadows, get that DA angst in there as well.
>>40409399Put it in Arabic, give them a desert world and we got a deal.
>>40409416But we rolled a jungle world.
>>40409416The Home World was all ready stated to be a Jungle Hive world i'm afraid. Also as we were formed to counter a threat I suggest an Ork Waaaargh!
>>40409461Well the chapter hero was good at killing orks, so that seems like the threat they were formed to combat. But what about the tyranids?
>>40409503How about sector got invaded by the 'nids whilst we were about to take out the Warboss. The sudden appearance of the 'nids caused us to have to abandon the hunt in order to defend our home world.
>>40408554>What does terror entail?Think Night Lords.
Also how many fa/tg/uys are lurking in this thread?
>>40409503>>40409461Okay, we're jungle IED-happy fucks. We initially fought Orks to liberate the planet, and then a 'Nid splinter fleet arrived, fucking up everything thing.
Alright, to recap, this chapter was founded to counter a threat the imperium knew was coming. They were produced in the 39th Millenium as Dark Angels successors, but with flawed geneseed. They have the general demeanour of seeing but not being seen, favoring stealth. They don't trust one Imperial Institution, which isn't the Arbites, because they're all buddy buddy. Their hero was a battle brother from 4th company's 1st squad, who killed a ton of orks. Their homeworld is a hive world with jungle terrain, which is ruled by stewardship. They have a unique organization that doesn't field Assault marines, but uses fear-inducing TERROR tactics. They have a preferred fighting style, such as a special bolter pattern of ammunition. They honor their primarch, the Lion, and are at nominal strength. But wait! They're missing their lyman's ear, which means they can get motion sickness. Drop Pod rides must be unbearable. They are currently fighting Tyranids. In short, /tg/, you have rolled all the necessary elements for a chapter of Sniper Marines.
>>40409706They snipe, they do IEDs and they terrorize the ranks of Orks, using the power of striking with remote charges and shit to take out and totally devalue WAAAGH!
>>40409772Would would they use IEDs?
>>40409706Terror Sniper Marines, awesome. As such I suggest that our preffered fighting style is using kraken ammunition allowing us to strike down enemies regardless of the armour they cower behind.
>>40409820Some kind of long range pattern bolters.
>>40409503>Strategic Prognostication>Dark Angels>This chapter hates a single imperial institution, and so, does not work with them.>Kills Orks>Kills TyranidsHmm... could it be that this particular chapter is created to secretly combat Fallen Angels in the ranks of the Death Watch? Intent on rooting out those despicable individuals hiding behind black armour, chapter insignias that are not of their own, and stolen identities? Does their scrutiny extend towards the seemingly innocent Ordo Xenos? Will the Fallen Angels, after having their false identity blown off by these vigilant Angels, finally know fear?
>>40409847Stalker pattern with kraken ammo then?
>>40409799Because not knowing when your supply lines, patrols or armor getting blown scares the fuck out of the enemy. If you're going for terrorizing an enemy, then why wouldn't you use a form of explosive?
>>40409867Liking that idea. Liking it a lot actually. We are the shadows that watch within and without.
>>40409901That would explain the Death's Shadows bit.>>40409870Stalker seems more stealth orientated. Some kind of super long range heavy bolter, maybe?>>40409867I am in love with this idea. I mean, a chapter that watches the deathwatch? That's actually original and interesting.
>>40409973Maybe we can have the battle cry as shadows within shadows without or some angst like that?Hmm I think there was pattern used during the good ol' Heresy called the Sol Militaris or something that was pretty much a marksman heavy bolter.
>>40410088Shadows within shadows does have a nice ring to it.
>>40410155Ticks all the boxes for DA angst and secrecy.
The institution they hate is obvious: the Adeptus Astartes.
>>40410248Lacking the Lyman's ear is really going to fuck with them though. Would they even be capable of using Drop Pods? And firing without their helmet on would deafen them.
>>40410269Which also works for them circle-jerking it to the Lion as they would view all other chapters as having inferior genetic material.
If they're fighting nids I rolled up a hive fleet a few days ago we could use
>>40410292I reckon they would but it would be either after lots of training or only for very specific situations where nothing else will work. Plus drop pods dont really work to well for the whole see but dont be seen thing.
>>40410317Spill the beans then, Anon.
>>40409901>>40409973The chapter prefers long range combat and terror tactics because there is no better way to capture a Fallen target subdue a WAAAGH!! that may have been fabricated by the chapter to lure Deathwatch involvement than removing the fictional Warboss at the height of his gloating speech with simultaneous Stalker pattern bolter shots placed at each limb of the Fallen, and breaking the morale of the rest of the filth with teleport jammers which also happen to prevent the crippled Fallen from escaping and IEDs which also happen hide the tracks of possible chapter involvement.
>>40410360Sonofabitch. Their chapter hero, their reason for being founded... It was all a giant cover-up. This is beautiful.
>>40410360I like this a lot, but I still don't think the IED's fit all that way. Maybe mass artillery or something would work as then it just looks like Guardsmen.
>>40410356Hive fleet Hydra (not very fitting but its a placeholder)Progenitor: DagonClass: Splinter fleetSize: MediumGoals: AstronomicanStrats: Corrode and poison(venomthropes etc)Common morphs: Acidic fluidsSpecial creature: Doom of Malan'tai-esque neurothropeRival: originally Eldar but we'll change it to these guys
>>40410465I used the 1d4chan template, was just messing around really.
>>40410442Yeah, that sounds workable.
>>40410465Seems good, although name might need changing to something relating to acid or poison maybe. Something terrible like Hive Fleet Viper Fang.
>>40410616Yeah I picked Hydra as a placeholder, though the Lernean one had poison blood so there's that.
>>40410616Mass artillery it is then. Plus it makes it possible to mask whom the true target is a chunks of bodies go flying around after seemingly indiscriminate artillery.
>>40410656Agreed, Hydra fits thematically, and it sounds okay enough.>>40409706>>40409867>>40410360By the Golden Throne, why am I always late to these threads? I hope someone at least saw the paint job I made for the Fire Drakes.
>>40410762The important thing is your here now.
>>40410762We need as many anons as possible. Glad you could make it.
Now we need a reason for why the Arbites suck our fear-mongering space dongs.
>>40410881Assisting us in maintaining our cover, perhaps?
>>40410881Besides the fact we're Dark Angels successors?
>>40410420>>40410442>>40410762Well bruva, the reason the chapter utilizes IEDs is to teach their scouts whose sergeants happen to be members of the Inner Circle, on a lookout for Fallen targets while leaving the new recruits none the wiser that weapons come in all sizes and patterns, but when utilized correctly can kill xenos and unfortunate bystanders who happened to have witnessed a Fallen all the same. An Astra Militarum issue demolition charge whose origin will definitely not be traced back to the chapter, if placed correctly, will destroy a Morkanaut that is intentionally left alone for some time, perhaps as a fabricated threat to the Deathwatch, or perhaps a test to mark recruits for potential Inner Circle induction just as well as an Astartes issue melta charge whose casing will definitely be traced backed to the chapter, ostentatiously displaying the bravery of our Chapter Hero to the Ordo Xenos. The homeworld of the chapter has only reached hive world status in less then a millennia, thus its industrial output on the surface is not at its peak yet. The majority of the world is covered in a hostile, undeveloped junglethat hides the Inner Circle and main manufactorums constructed in cavernous, scan-shielded underground environments, after all. While the chapter may pretend to be short on war materials and combat experience compared to more established chapters, including the Dark Angels, their venerable progenitors which takes great interest in the chapter's Fallen hunting activities, thus supporting them with both materials and personnel, in time it will be rightfully known as the shield against the part fabricated, part real, all cultivated xenos threat throughout and beyond their subsector.
>>40411091"Aww... damn it. I do hope nobody got this astropathic messa-- Who's there?"
>>40411091I like the fluff behind that but still feels like your sucking the D of IED's a little too hard there battle-brother.
>>40411091Damn Anon, you write good fluff.
So where do the nids fit in?
>>40411272Local Splinter fleet is attacking our recruiting worlds, Deathwatch has been deployed to help destroy it. May also be cover to work closely with Deathwatch to infiltrate them and look for Fallen.
>>40411163That was my first time writing any kind of Space Marine material, so it may contain too much Knights Inductor and too little Space Marines, and start to border on sue territory.
>>40411335Playing as a Death's Shadows in deathwatch would be fun, no doubt.
>>40411375Yeah, we should drop the IEDs, keep the heavy artillery.
>>40411381The campaign you could run from that would be amazing! Imagine if one of the other members playing as a BlackShield turns out to be a Fallen.
>>40411375Honestly it's all good. It is just IED's don't fit well with Space Marines, if it was an Imperial Guard Platoon we were making then would suit it really well.
>>40411408Or a fellow kill team has a Fallen there under false heraldry.
>>40411451That works better, I like the BlackShield idea personally as it means the Keepmaster or whatever it is called for the Deathwatch might know that they were a Fallen as all BlackShields have to report to them and explain why they wish to dedicate their life to Deathwatch.
>>40411555Actually when a blackshield shows up at a Watch Fortress, they are almost never asked any questions. They are also almost never turned away.
>>40411435I haven't played with the new Space Marine 'dex, but in 5th Edition minefields were an option Biker Scouts could use. So Marine IEDs are a thing.
>>40411633I swear they have to be pretty much interrogated by the Keep Master as they have to forsake their previous chapter. Unless this is old fluff and i'm just not up to date?
>>40411679A mine is different to an IED. A mine is purpose built and designed and often mass produced. An IED is made from whatever is lying about pretty much and is designed as a crude anti-personnel or armour. Mines can also be heavy ordnance.
>>40406548Do we have to? We're knee deep in the things already. Little fuckers breed like rats.
>>40411679Well I've got my Deathwatch Rulebook right here, and it says what I just said. It's a don't ask, don't tell situation.
We need fluff behind the glorious 4th Company. After a battle-brother from the 4th became legend, his company followed in his stead and began to gather laurels like rain in a storm. Most Chapter's glory hails from those in 1st Company, but the Death's Shadows all look to the 4th for inspiration.
>>40411773You're a little late for that mate.>>40411726The problem with that is that Space Marines do not scavenge. Heck, only techmarines of some skill would be able to rig them.
>>40411777Ah I stand corrected then, i've got a Deathwtahc rulebook somewhere in my house but i'm stoned and not leaving my chair unless for nachos.>>40411799Exactly why I don't think IED's make sense for Space Marines.
>>40411799>>40411852Captain Beakie did survive inside an Ork WAAAGH!! for 2 years while entirely relying on scavenging because his supplies were cut off. But then again, this is an exception of the Astartes MO, otherwise his example won't be as famous. The chapter isn't really as desperate as the Crimson Fists either. Then, keep the snipers, no assault squads, and replace references to IEDs with other non-astartes equipment such as heavy artillery, like in >>40411402 ?
>>40412088Yeah if we were rolling Crimson Fisters it would fit right in but i'm assuming DA likes to keep it chapters well supplied in case sudden cases of the Fallen occur.
>>40410616hive fleet basilisk?
