For hundreds of years, the great Serpent City of Tharras stood strong. The strong Yuan-Ti of the city flourished and developed underneath the rule of the mighty Anethemas. However, unrest grew in the city. Small groups of the serpentfolk began to rise up against their leaders, unhappy with them growing lazy in the recent years. Massive rebellions occurred and most of the city was destroyed.A small group of Yuan-Ti Purebloods, the base class of serpentfolk used for nothing more than working fields and other peasantry. were led from the city into the wilds by an escort of Half-Blood Malison. The group have been travelling for a few days now, and have stopped to rest near a small stream amidst rocky plains. The group are discussing what their next course of action should be. There is one thing that they all agree on: They need to restart and refresh their civilisation. There are 20 Pure-Bloods, half male and half female, and 10 Malison; also known as the warrior caste. The Pure-Bloods brought along an oxen-drawn wagon stocked with basic farming tools and a month's worth of food for the group. The Malison are equipped with stone spears and crude fur armour. The rocky plains stretch on for as far as you can see in every direction but East; where a medium sized jungle is situated. To the North, it seems like the land elevates to a small group of hills. What do you do?
I never liked Yuan-Ti, what is the appeal supposed to be? "Snake Cult" like from Conan?
>>40351023In reference to D&D or Civ Quests? In either case, it completely depends on how they are run and how they fit in their setting.
>>40350993East for jungle
>>40351058Oh shit I didn't even notice this was a quest. Nevermind.
Your people pack up and set off to the East in the direction of the jungle. Sick of seeing nothing but grass and boulders for the past day, they are keen for excitement.Upon reaching the jungle, the oxen have trouble manoeuvring into the trees, thus travel speed is decreased drastically. The Yuan-Ti can see myriad creatures of all shapes and sizes around them, however they are too fast to be able to catch right now, and your people don't want to stray too far from the wagon. After a couple of hours, you reach what seems to be the centre of the jungle. The canopies open up in a large clearing with a lagoon off in the corner. A cave mouth hangs above the lagoon, upon which a small waterfall bubbles out from. The ground around the clearing is covered in heavy moss and vines, and there are huge thin trees all around you. The only way to help with orientation here is the trail of flattened flora that the wagon has dug through the ground. What do you do?>Population: 20 Pure-Bloo Peasants, 10 Half-Blood Malison>Resources: Basic farming tools, Stone spears>Technology: Agriculture
ooo this could be good, havent seen a civ quest in a while
>>40351698>set up a basic camp>Five Malison explore the cave
... this thread still alive?
The Pure-Bloods begin to unpack their wagon, using tarpaulin to set up makeshift tents. Before long, a small campfire is also underway and a boiling cauldron of stew is bubbling. Five Malison stay near the wagon with their spears at hand, just in case, however they aren't being too attentive as they think the area safe.Meanwhile, the other five Malison head over to the lagoon. The cave mouth is set around 15 feet high into the side of a small cliff face that extends 40 feet into the trees. The rocks are slick with moisture and algae, and the Malison have a hard time trying to climb the cliff face, even assisting each other. The Malison notice silhouettes darting around in the depths of the lagoon, and decide against trying to climb any further and risking falling in with whatever is in there. What do you do?>Population: 20 Pure-Bloo Peasants, 10 Half-Blood Malison>Food: Average>Resources: Basic farming tools, Stone spears>Structures: Crude Campsite>Technology: Agriculture
>>40352214Cut some wood we are going to need it for later. Have the Malisons investigate further.
>>40352305You don't have any tools for chopping wood as of yet, you'll need to research to how. And investigate what? The lagoon?
>>40352364No, the cave make them work for it. Also if we have Basic farming tools then we should have have the tools to clear a little land for farming.
>>40352214>set up basic farms>have several of the malison go hunting, but not stray to far from the camp.
>>40352427The farming tools you have would be things like a few scythes, pitchforks, sickles, shovels and a hand plough.
You guys want to compromise?>>40352305>>40352510Can't do all of that in one turn.
>>40352697meh, sure, ill back>>40352305for now
>>40352740By utilising the oxen and the wagon, the Yuan-Ti manage to pull down some of the nearby trees. The trees are splintered and cracked, but they are out of the way. You arrange them in piles at the edge of the clearing for when you find a good enough use for them.In the meantime, the five Malison make another attempt to climb the cliff face into the cave. None of them gain ground, until eventually the highest one loses his grip after taking a blast in the face from the waterfall. He falls with a splash into the lagoon. A couple of seconds later, he breaks the surface screaming and hissing. The other Malison throw vines to him and try to bring him to the the bank. The attempt is futile however, as there soon remains nothing of the brave warrior but a cloud of red spreading through the lagoon. What do you do?>Population: 20 Pure-Bloo Peasants, 9 Half-Blood Malison>Food: Average>Resources: Basic farming tools, Stone spears, Logs>Structures: Crude Campsite>Technology: Agriculture
