Raiders on the high road to Jerusalem, a contingent of soldiers out of the Ascalon garrison, have been defeated. The men put to the sword and their leader, Abu Bakr, in chains.Your men and the men of Malik ibn Mujir - a Syrian mercenary in service to Count Hugh - ride with more hospitality towards one another. They converse as well as they can, talking through barriers of language and culture, but the shared act of battle had bonded them closer together. One of your leal knights, Etienne, rode with a peasant woman behind him. One of the freed captives, a mouse of a woman retreated into the thick blankets that swaddled her frame, clinging to Etienne while peering at the world with a deep cut fear. Many of the prisoners your force had rescued were now up on horseback. Mostly women. They had undergone torture to provoke good Christian men into foolish action. A cruel strategy that had failed Abu Bakr. One walked however, pulling a cloak hard against her throat, looking about the armoured men that flanked her with a ready smile. She was a dusty, flat footed thing. Much used to walking the pilgrim roads. She spoke with Sir Hector. The man that had struck the ropes from her wrists, still raw and cracked from where the restraints had cut into skin.
Commonfolk of Jaffa had come out to greet you. Some threw garlands for your troops, and a cheer went up when they heard the news. The Christian dead had been avenged, and the Moselmen responsible put to the sword. Some had lost relatives in Jaffa, though most the dead were foreign travelers. Count Hugh had done much to try and secure the common followed paths of the Holy Land, but it will never truly be secure until Ascalon was taken.Or so you thought, and would say in any council to drum up support for your own ambition. Count Hugh waited to give you greetings at the walls of his hold, his court presented. You recognised Sir Barisan, as well as Hugh's sister and aged wife. It seems his planned annulment had not yet been approved. Your own sister, Mathilde, was there as well. Standing besides Count Hugh. She had assembled a crown of flowers that adorned her head, little purple things that stood against her black velvet hair. You drew off you helm, the impressive lion snarled piece that was quick becoming famous in these lands, and dismounted.Sabeen brings Abu Bakr forward, handling him roughly with kicks and shoves.> my prisoner, Abu Bakr Bakrid> your prisoner, Abu Bakr Bakrid

"My prisoner," you said, as Sabeen kicked the bandit into the dirt before Count Hugh. Your lord cocked his head at your words. "Abu Bakr Bakrid. A knight of Ascalon. The home of the murderous band he led.""And acting under whose orders?" Count Hugh asked, squatting beside the prone, shackled Muslim. Abu Bakr spat some obscenity back at your lord. A less generous spirit would have struck him for it, but your lord kept his good demeanour. Instead he straightened, drew forth a cloth and wiped the spittle from his chin. Then looked to you. "As he is your prisoner, it is your judgement that must be passed. How shall this bold cavalier of Egypt be punished? A simple drop from a rope, or would you have him broken on the wheel? Surely the people demand his blood."He looked to his people gathered and spread out his hands to ask their opinion."The Wheel!" some called, but most demanded - "The Rope! The Rope! The Rope!"They bayed for it, women and children alongside the men. Even his men-at-arms slipped their discipline and joined in the demands.Hugh looked to you with raised brows. You looked to the crowd and their fury and felt a pang of worry. You look to the crowd and then to Hugh. It would be very easy to give the people what they wanted. And it would be justice done. But Abu Bakr still had a use."He is a prisoner for now," you said, "Justice will wait for another day."The crowd let their disapproval be known. Loud boos of dissent, and curses thrown at you. Sabeen took a step between you and the crowd, hand to sword-hilt. Hugo did much the same. A rotten fruit came from the crowd, exploding across your shins. Perhaps it was meant for you. Perhaps for your prisoner. But you saw the red faced fisher women and knot-faced men in the crowd shaking fists as they swore. They wanted the Muslim's head. They wanted their sons and daughters avenged."Justice!" you said, holding a hand palm out toward the mob, "Justice will be done! The criminal will pay for his crimes, but not here, and not now!"It wasn't what the crowd wanted to hear.> damn the crowd, get your prisoner into the safety of the keep> try to placate the crowd> write-in

I am unsure what to do. But removing his hand might reassure them that he will meet justice.
You grit your teeth and motion for Sabeen and Hugo to pull your prisoner up onto his knees."You want this man punished?" you asked. You drew your Damascus steel blade, held it aloft to catch the sun rays. A pleasured gasp went up from the crowd as they marveled at the sword, its straight blade a watery shimmer to the eyes. You looked to your prisoner. Bearded and brown, he looked up at you with the fear of death in his eyes. He gritted his teeth, his chest heaved as he tried to master his fear. The sword fell. The man did not scream at first. He just gave a terrible shudder, and collapsed against the arms of your companions. His right hand fell onto the road, blood gushing out as fingers twitched a moment before resting still. Abu Bakr was pale faced and unconcious. His right arm a bleeding stump. You called up Mohmed to see to the man quickly while you took up the severed hand. You held it aloft in your left, sword held in the right. Not a smear of blood was on the blade, so smoothly and fast had it cut."Never again will this man strike at a Christian!" you said, "Today it is his hand, and soon the other. For every Christian soul he has tormented he shall be struck by my sword, until God sees fit to end his mortal suffering."You threw the hand to the crowd and saw multiple fish wives dive for it. They fought over the gruesome token in the dirt."And when his mortal suffering ends, his eternal suffering shall begin."You say that last as you sheathe your sword. The crowd cheers for you, and then for the ox-armed woman that holds up the severed hand, won from her competitors in a rough scrum, nose bloodied but grinning. You turned your back to them to face Count Hugh and the court. Many nodded approvingly. Hugh merely watched, a long considering look upon his usually expressive face.
"Food awaits my champions," Hugh said, offering Malik's band the open gates. You walked in with them, and Hugh paused you with a hand to the elbow. "I think you should be on the road by the morrow Lord Wilhelm, Ramla needs its lord."You frowned at that. Hugh was not one for guarded words. Perhaps something in your manner had left him feeling slighted. When he releases you, you find yourself in the hall set for feasting. Tables for the common men-at-arms and others for the nobility. There wasn't a trace of pig meat to be seen, and mostly water or a flavourful cordial was being served. To accommodate the Muslims.Hugh did not tarry. He went straight for private chambers and kept them tight shut behind him. You looked about the hall, filled with soldiers but empty for its host. Many were already setting to eat, not waiting for any invitation or for the accompaniment of music.Hugo dropped half a pitcher of water down his throat, wiped his mouth and passed it to Sabeen. They leaned against the far wall, keeping a companionable silence.Sir Etienne hailed for you to sit with him. He had taken company with Sir Hector and your uncle Sir Hermann - who had been making much of Count Hugh's hospitality in your week long absence. You saw also the women, who kept their own table. Hugh's sister Aines spoke with your own sister, with another number of women. You go to sit with Sir Etienne. Food is brought to you by a serving woman, and wine as well. You sit square across from your knightly retainer, who pecks at a plate of cheese."Well worth the riding," he said through a mouthful. You nodded as you took a sip of wine. "Fighting the Saracen was the reason I came to these lands," he said, then taking a drink of water. "Better to put spear against them than a Christian brother. All to the good to be rid one more heathen."You couldn't disagree. It was good to put your arms to a good cause, protecting the pilgrim roads. Still you were aware of the heathens around you. That had ridden with you against these butchers. It wasn't a game of mere heathen against Christian, and Sir Etienne's words spoke to you of the butchery done on the capture of Jerusalem so many decades ago. So thick the blood had run that the Pope himself had called them butchers. But you offered no rebuke. Your mind was on the unknown offence you must have caused Count Hugh to risk offending one of your few noble born companions.Your attention instead turned to the other knights at his table. 'Sir' Hector and Sir Hermann.Your uncle seemed well into the feasting. Attacking his plate and goblet as if he was one of the victorious returned. You had not seen your so-called uncle in some time. Last you had heard he was still a nuisance in the arch-bishop's court, lusting after other men's women and providing no service to anyone of merit. Why your father kept oaths of brotherhood with this man was beyond you.The dour young man had rode with you against Bakr. He had done well. Still though, there was something in his nature you did not trust. His claim to knighthood perhaps. "I owe you a debt Sir Hector," you said, pouring the man a cup of wine, "For escorting my sister so far. She can be a handful.""And a half," Hector said, taking the goblet. He paused before drinking, thinking he might have misspoken and leveled insult against your sister. "That is to say, she is a willful girl. Very spirited." He drank.Sir Hermann laughed, nudging his companion. "She merely awaits a steady hand. Like a proud mare, she must be broken for the saddle." Your uncle did not care much about causing offence. Few who had watched a babe of six shit its britches cared much when that babe was full grown. Still, you had a thought to strike him. You stayed your hand."God help whoever my father has picked for her," you said, glancing to the women's table. Sir Hector considered the bottom of his wine cup at that. She was as thick as thieves with Lady Aines, occasionally shooting side-eyed looks towards your table. There was a lot about this you didn't like. You gave Sir Hector a smile. "You say you are from Saxony?" you asked. He nodded, but with hesitation."How goes its duke? Last I heard he quarreled with the emperor."Sir Hector shrugged. "Whatever bad blood lay between them is settled, as far as I know."Ah. 'Sir' Hector was not a knight indeed, nor likely from Saxony. Lothair was duke of Saxony and emperor in one. Your immediate instinct was to declare the man a fraud. It was a crime to impersonate a knight. He would be lucky to be harshly flogged. You could as easily have him executed.Of course he had fought well. He had defended your sister's virtue the breadth of Europe and delivered her safely to your custody. But while doing so he had broken sacred laws of office and society. You smiled and drank your wine. What to do?> say nothing> declare Sir Hector false

You kept the knowledge to yourself, and instead allowed the lie to carry. You would need to speak with him in private. The man was competent at arms. He could be off use rather than merely branded as a criminal or hanged from a tree. And perhaps you could also advice him on more suitable targets for his affection, rather than your hellcat of a sister. Hopefully you could steer that ship from those rocks before it was too late and became something from a saccharine ballad."What brought you to the Holy Land?" you asked him.He leaned upon his palm. "I'm not sure. When I set off I thought my path certain. I would join a knightly order. Dedicate myself to protect the holy land under holy vows. But now..." His troubled brow lowered and instead of further talk he busied himself with his plate. You tipped back the last of your drink and ate heartily.Jokes were flung about the room at every fellow, no man was spared by station.Soon a dance was called for, and musicians set up for it.The women waited within their own circle, eyes for the men who began to stand. Some bold man-at-arms did not wait and instead simply grabbed a passing serving girl to spin into a dance, damning convention. OP ded, as is the dancing
You decide to dance with Lady Aines. When last you saw her you had noted her a graceful dancer, and she accepted your offered hand with a dip of her head. Curly brown hair maned a lovely pale face, clean save a black mole beneath her right eye. When her smile spread across the face you noted again the slight gap in her front teeth."M'lord," she said, her voice a breathy tickle on your ear.She allowed you to lead her to the dance floor.Others took partners. One of Malik's men had Maggie by the wrist, and a man-at-arms was bold enough to approach your sister, but not bold enough to face her mocking laughter - from which he retreated in embarrassment. Malik sat out as was his habit, spurning dancing as a sinful indulgence.Your sister turned aside the squire Jacques and the younger brother of Sir Barisan. Orlando was also turned aside with a yawn. None seemed good enough to her. Finally she permitted Sir Etienne to accompany her through a dance. But you were concerned with the woman in front of you. She was light on her feet. You were considered something of a skillful dancer, and she matched your step smoothly. Both of you easily finding and keeping to the rhythm of the music. It would not shock you if she proved to have some skill at the harp or other instrument, the way she kept to the tempo."Why its wonderful," she said."What is so wonderful to invite remark?" you replied. She looked up at you, scarcely up to your chest. "Why you are my lord. You are quite a dancer.""I was thinking much the same of you my lady," you replied, pulling her a little closer. She was a pretty handful. "Though I think such basic facts do not warrant any remark.""Hmm," she ran a palm along your shoulder, "Well, it saddens me that you think me unremarkable."
"To make remarks of your remarkability would be to make mention of the heat of the Jerusalem sun. That is, t'would be redundant. Enough to say 'you are Lady Aines of Jaffa'. Men will understand with nothing further need mentioned.""Flatterer," she pulled out for a graceful spin before coming back close again. Very close. Her chest pressed to yours. "They warned me of that tongue of yours." Your hand found the small of her back. Excitement shone in her eyes. "You are a man of distinct reputation. Or rather of contrasting deeds. Good and bad. Good, a defender of Jerusalem and noble in action. Bad. A seducer of women and bedder of virgins."You shrugged. "Gossip will be made," you said. Her eyes narrowed, still bright. "Oh but to make a little gossip, and perhaps to find out if there is truth in rumour."It was not your intention to seduce Lady Aines. It was not your fault your reputation in such things proceeded you. But frankly you did not entirely mind."What would your brother think?" you asked, bringing to mind Count Hugh and his strange reaction to your return."He thinks much of you, on some matters," she replied, "He likes you. That's true." She drew away with a cocked head, much like her brother, taken by a thought. "I think that he likes you, but also has some jealousy toward you as well. You are his subordinate yet your reputation grows with every turn you take. I think he fears you will eclipse him."That...was not a foolish thing for Hugh to fear. Your plans and ambition went far beyond the keep of Ramla. Beyond even the walls of Ascalon. To speak on what you wanted would have you branded mad, but you could not deny it yourself. You wanted far more than a count of Jerusalem could ever offer. You said none of this to Aines, you continued to dance, and felt her heat against you with every suggested press of her body. You thought that how she danced so well, how well she might do other things. A bad idea considering her brother.
Your eyes wandered to where Mathilde was dancing upon the shoes of Sir Etienne, led through the dance like a little girl guided by her father. He seemed to enjoy her company, and you saw no lust in his eyes. Maggie danced with a different Saracen man, and cast looks over to Hugo. Your brother just glowered in the corner, dark glares for his half-sister. Sabeen waited with him. They did not speak.Uncle Hermann tried to pull Chihirizahd into a dance, but she laughed and batted him away, finding rescue beside Hector the false knight, who kept her company upon his lap, making him red across the face, even as she teased him with a swish of fingers across his hair. When she looked up it was to you with a heavy pout, inviting your attention. But that pout changed into a smile. Just a small flirtation and reassurance. When Hermann gave up he went and pestered a serving girl, who deferred to his rank and was dragged into his embrace. Much to the mockery of her fellow servants. It seemed the mood was bright and lively, but there was a shadow on the feast unspoken. The host's absence was noted.> continue to dance with Lady Aines> switch partners (nominate)> finish dancing for the day

Sir Hector gratefully allows you to take her, shifting uncomfortable as she rises from his lap."Thank you for protecting me sir knight," she said, gracing him with a light kiss upon the ear."Enough teasing," you say, wrestling her onto the dance floor. She laughs in your arms and when she turns in them you pull her quickly into the next dance. As you dance with your slave girl you note other partners switched. Sabeen was on the floor with one of Malik's men, and Maggie was now dancing with Sir Etienne.Your sister stood before Hugo. "Well?" you heard her ask as you hovered close to listen, "Shall you be a dark cloud upon everyone else's good time?" She had hands on hips and an expression that was combative. And then she did something you thought unexpected. She offered Hugo her hand. "Come and dance. Have a little fun for once."You near tripped on Chihirizahd's feet in shock. Hugo looked at the hand, face bright red. He stared long enough that soon Mathilde was red in the face as well.Chihirizahd whispered in your ear. "Your sister is a strange girl," she said, "While you were gone she fretted for you, and fretted for your squire as well - though she masked that care with cursing. Do you think she loves him?""He is her brother, no matter what she says," you replied."Oh but is it a sisterly love?" she pondered. That left a troubled flutter in your gut. She smiled at the look of shock on your face. "I forget that you are Christian," she said, and kissed you lightly on the cheek, "I shall tell you a story some time. Of the ancient princes of Persia, who bedded sister to brother and thought it holy." You felt a shudder in your loins.
"Pagan degeneracy," you stated, suddenly gone cold. You eyed your brother and sister. Chihirizahd misjudged them. There was nothing of that sort found in Christian lands.Well, maybe in Britain. You smiled when Hugo took Mathilde's offered hand at last, and was dragged to dance. Much to the amusement of the other women, some who had already tried coaxing Hugo onto the dance floor. It was nothing as she had thought. The dance came to an end. Chihirizahd pressed against your chest, acting breathless but in fact energized for more. She looked to the muscicians with disappointment as they packed their instruments away."What next Lord Ramla?" Sir Etienne called, arm around Maggie's shoulder and panting."A toast!" one soldier called, and the cry was carried up. Aines applauded the idea. She stood with Sabeen, the two girls old friends. You lift the horn."To our host and liege lord, Count Hugh! As good a friend and as honest a master as any man could hope for!" you tip back your head and tipped the wine down your throat."Here here!" was the response made as others drank to Count Hugh. The crowd began to clear. You handed the empty horn off to a servant. Some planned to go drinking in the town itself, while others retiredfor the day. You were left with a choice. Many of your men-at-arms were keen for you to join them in what promised to be a full night of drink and wenching, but you were on the road tomorrow.> accompany the men going out carousing> retire for the night

You see your men off with a wave, even though the group is not just men. Sabeen and Maggie departed in their company."Keep them in line, Sabeen, let's not have any left in the stocks when we depart tomorrow," you said as she herded the men out the gates. She laughed. "I'll try, but don't bet against me being the one in the stocks tomorrow." That brought a cheer from the men. That had her standing tall and pointing. "I'll match anyone of you Franks drink for drink!"They left in a bubbling huddle, eager to relieve their tensions upon the usually quiet little port town.As you crossed the courtyard you came across your sister, and with her Hector. They had not come together, this was but a chance crossing of paths. You could see that in the awkward position of Hector's shoulders. Neither spied you watching."Well," she said."Well," he replied. They stood at crossrods, blocking their mutual paths. They looked to one another under the early moon night. It was a moment before Hector next spoke, his voice low."I expect you will be on to Ramla with your brother," he said."Indeed," she replied, "And you?"He rubbed his hair. "I thought to join Count Hugh's service. If he'll have me.""Ah," Mathilde swept a bolt of hair from her shoulder. She remained silent for some time, the moonlight adding a glow to her skin. Hector watched her. "Well then I expect tomorrow shall be farewell." She said the words so matter of factly. He looked at her for a long yawning moment. And then he nodded."Yes. Farewell," he said, and walked away.Mathilde looked like she very well might cry as she looked to his retreating back.> go to Mathilde> follow 'sir' Hector> write-in

"Daniel," she choked the name. He paused. And then took another step.Mathilde bolted away with tears bright in her eyes. No fool pretender was going to make your sister cry and answer in turn. You followed after the young upstart. You followed him round a corner. And you saw him standing, head pressed to the stone, body trembling and fists clenched at his side. His chest shook and out with it came a sob. His fist struck the stone wall and you winced. It left a bloody smear. You step forward, enough to draw him from his inner turmoil."Who?" he demanded, quick flash to anger, hand to hilt. And his eyes widened, his hand dropped away. "Lord Ramla. I did not-""I saw you with my sister," you said, "Perhaps you should not drop that sword so quickly."His eyes widened. He drew himself up to full height. "I have never been untoward with her. Not once has my behaviour been less or more than courteous. Lady Mathilde is a companion of the road, nothing more. If anything and with respect, she was an irritating one that I'm happy to see the last of."He wasn't trying to convince you. He was trying to convince himself. Maybe he even believed it a little. So deep entrenched was his ability to lie his own heart was closed to him."You're in love with her," you stated it plainly. It was plain to see. Still your words staggered Hector back a step."My lord, I have never-" he said."Never?" you asked, "Never touched her, or never wanted her? Be truthful, for once in your life."He looked dizzy, spun around like he'd been hit with a mace. He leaned on the wall. "In Italy there was a knight. Some fool who claimed a bridge. Challenged any that passed. He and I fought but ended up in the river. The other man drowned but I was fished out by Giacopo. She...she sat beside me. Called my name. God in heaven she wept it. And I..." he stared with eyes that saw the past, his mouth half open as tears streamed from his eyes.
"Daniel, that's your true name," you said. A Jew name if ever you'd heard one.He nodded. He did not seem surprised. "God. You saw right through me the same as she did," he smiled the tired smile of the damned, "I am no true knight. I am a peasant and a Jew." He unbuckled his sword belt and let it drop, and looked to you with arms out stretched. "And you are right. I do love her. I have been in love with her since first we met. Aines stood in your doorway. Behind her Sabeen."M'lord Ramla," she said with cat like grin. Was she drunk? Sabeen leaned on the wall, eyes closed and stretching, wearing a smile of her own.Sabeen staggered over and threw an arm around Aines' shoulder. "M'lord Ramla," she said, "May we enter?" She ran a hand over your bare chest. She was a little drunk. The two young women shared a titter, cheeks pressed together."It is cold this night, and we could use some warming," Aines batted her eyes. You looked back to Chihirizahd. The blanket she lowered a little. You looked back to the two girls. Sabeen arched up toward you as Aines ran a hand along her own throat. It was clear what they wanted. You lower your sword and lean on the door, grinning from ear to ear. You couldn't help but be flattered. At the same time you were not fool enough to risk insulting Hugh further. And Sabeen, you would not risk a friendship over a few hours pleasure."I'm afraid you'll have to find some other amusement this dark night good ladies, my bedchamber is already occupied," you motion to Chihirizahd, who looks on the girls with a pleased smile."Truly?" Sabeen ran a finger over her chin, the other across her belly.Aines pouted and batted her eyes, but it was to no avail. She sighed and crossed her arms."Well, it is as he said," she shrugged, "Less fun for you.""Aw," Sabeen said. She gave you a smile so woolen you knew her to be unreasonably drunk.Aines took her friend by the arm. She was far more the sober of the two. You were not sure if that was reason to be grateful or concerned. "I'll see her safe to bed," she said with a wink.As Sabeen was walked away by the Lady of Jaffa you heard her whine. "But I wanted to see how big it is!""Hush pet," came Aines' chiding. You chuckled, and then let out a sigh of relief. You damn near lost your head. They were an enticing pair if ever there was one. No doubt they had noticed the strain against your hose at their offer. Hopefully they will be too drunk to remember this little scene. You climbed back into bed with Chihirizahd. As you ran your hand along her bare thigh, for a moment you entertained the idea that it was Sabeen's skin you stroked. You doubted it would be so smooth as hers, but it was an entertaining fantasy. One you continued as your hand drifted between her thighs, and clenched into the wetness there."Uh!" a soft sigh.Chihirizahd looked at you through shuttered eyes. "If you had wished it, I would have allowed it. Enjoyed it even," she said, and leaned over to kiss your chin.
>>40341889Hey, the 96 works like, either we get to have sex with three women, or we get in the good graces of Hugh maybe.
"A strong man." You worked your fingers and she lay back, eyes closed. "Can enjoy. Hmm." she laid her hands over your wrist. "Can enjoy many fruits." She rolled her hips. "They are but his to...to pluck." She shuddered against your grip, and you slipped out to place something else within. The thing Sabeen most foolishly wanted to see. You left her a quivering mess of sweaty flesh and quivering muscle, blankets knotted around and pillows discarded. You spilled deep and hard and when you pulled out you near collapsed atop her.You lay back considering what you turned down. It was the right thing to do. Still, the presentation and opportunity had left you with a lust Chihirizahd had failed to completely satisfy.Chihirizahd looked to you, eyes still filled with euphoria, face a-glow."You did the right thing," she said, as if she could see your doubt and hunger, "Sabeen I think came for the wrong reason, and would have quick regretted it. She likes you well, but not in the way she thinks.""And in what way is that?" you asked. Truly the warrior woman had shown some interest in the past."She sees the one she wants, but that one isn't you."She spoke in riddles, you were not quite sure what she meant. She came to a crouch before you and stretched her neck out, planting a kiss on your cheek."You will understand when she does," she said, and then lay down to sleep, body giving in to pleasant exhaustion. You were soon to join her.-You awoke to open curtains, sunlight streaming upon your naked form and Chihirizahd dressed and waiting. She had set out clean clothing set out to wear, your sword lain atop it. You dressed and buckled your sword. Hugh wanted you and your men on the road this morning. You had time to visit upon a companion before departing. Perhaps it would be a good idea to clear the air before hitting the road home.> nominate

>>40342170Samefags and lurkers anon. It's just the reality of quests.
You think it would be best to call on your liege lord before departing. Things could not stand as they were, with you a stranger in his affection. When dressed and ready you sent Chihrizahd to order Etienne to muster the troops, and marched for your lord's chambers. His guards did not block your path, you were a well known figure in Jaffa at this point.Which was an encouraging sign. Hugh had made no orders to keep you from his company. You knocked upon his door and waited.A bolt slid, the door opened. A young woman looked out. She seemed familiar, a servant of the castle. She was in a simple shift that barely disguised her femininity. It seemed you and Hugh shared some qualities."I shall fetch m'lord," she said, and retreated inside. In time the door opened fully, with Hugh framed within it. He wore a long tabard and naught else. Thankfully it skirted his knees, and he did not share your endowment."Wilhelm," he said it civilly. The man was not the sort to hold a grudge, but still there was a coldness in his eyes."My lord," you replied."You are leaving today," he said, "You should fetch your prisoner before you leave. It is not my custom to hold on to another man's hostage."You quirked a brow. Is this what had brought on his bad mood? No, it was just the final trigger. It was as Aines had said. The man had a slight jealousy of you."I leave soon," you said, "But before I did I had hoped to leave your friend once more. We are friends, are we not?" You thought of him as such. You owed all you had to his generosity. You wore his sword at your hip. His support had seen you granted a lordship. You had earned it through hard effort, but he could have made any number of excuses to claim Ramla for himself. Most lords would have done just that.
>>40342243>Thankfully it skirted his knees, and he did not share your endowment.Oh my.
He considered you, drummed his fingers upon the door frame. You could not read him, though in the past he had been an open book. Then he sighed. "The problem, Wilhelm, is that I do not know what you are. You say one thing and act another. In some moments I see a gentleman, in others a mercenary. You are confusing to me." He drew back his hand and straightened. "You are not a bad sort Wilhelm. No, I'm sure of that. But a man must consider his own position before all else." He smiled. "We are friends Wil, the problem is I do not think I can trust you to be content as my subject. So I am caught. Between the man that wants to be your friend. And the lord that desires a trust worthy vassal."He was not wrong for thinking such thoughts. He did not entirely misjudge you, but you could not help but feel a slight wounding at his words. You had never, in all your ambition, meant to cause Hugh any harm.> you can trust me, offer him words to convince him of that> offer him your prisoner as a sign of trust

"Abu Bakr," you locked eyes with Hugh, "He is your prisoner, not mine."Hugh held your gaze. And nodded. The coldness was gone from his eyes."Safe travel on the road, Wilhelm." He offered you his hand."Until next we meet, Hugh." You took that hand. Behind him you saw that pretty serving girl stretch out, the shift lifting enough to display a bare white peach. You grinned. "I shall not keep you from your responsibilities any longer.""My thanks," he replied with a sheepish grin of his own.The door closed and you soon heard a giggle. You walked away shaking your head. Men were alike in at least some things.Sir Etienne had mustered your troops in the castle yard. They waited in disciplined lines. Your horse born warriors were with them in the saddle. Sabeen slouched, blinked out raw eyes. Sir Hector was beside her, and beside him was Orlando. Your men.Mathilde came in company with Maggie and Mohmed. They joined you, slightly separated from the warrior band.Hugo came with your horse and offered it.Mounting up, you then reached down for Chihirizahd and pulled her into the saddle in front of you.You looked over the castle yard as a soft sea breeze wafted over you. >>40342572It was a smart idea. The others would have just seen Abu killed. If you hadn't offered a compromise, the mob may have rioted and tried to take him from you to be lynched.
>>40342591its not a problem as long as the interrogation is done. And him fully on our side for the war effort will be a major plus.
>>40342596you mean even trying to talk the crowd down would have been impossible?
>>40342554So if we somehow managed to get into a similar situation with the Queen and her sisters would we automatically jump to a 100 Cha?
>>40342622I think that was the "may have rioted" part. I probably would have been a difficult roll.
>>40342628I'm hoping none of you fags would turn the queen down if she offered us a royal orgy
>>40342609yeah but at the end of it if we can't raise enough resources of our own he may just end up taking charge of the Coalition we make himself and poof no more Ascalon no more lovetta goodbye Alexandra.really it's a cold war at this point and we're the underdog, and Hugh at the end of the day may have to ''catch'' a ''fever'' or have an accident of some kind that will put him out of competition with us
>>40342653If she gurannted lovetta to us afterwards then yeah I'd vote for it
>>40342657Fair enough point. Abit leery about causing an accident but we do need to step up out game in gathering forces. How much time is on the clock before we march on our target?
>>40342683Year and a half, with a coming time skip to Christmas then New Years next thread.
>>40342653Man even if she just wants some superior genetic stock for her next baby I'd be down for it. Unless we were married to Iovetta that is. Then we'd need her Ok on it.
>>40342704Love you HF. We'll always come back to play, no matter the delay.
>>40342683look Hugh having an accident is a last resort really which is why I personally wanted it set up early as a failsafe, regardless we should figure out who else to call on.we can call on >Berbers pirates to prevent ships Intervening>Potentially the greek rapist but probably not considering he may just make our day hell>Gerards brother Backup for Hugh's accident maybe? >German lords>Mercenaries >Crusader ordersbeyond that there is Roger of Sicily but he is more likely to side with Hugh if we can to a head with himas for time I'd say slightly more than a year & a half.>>40342704speaking of that next thread...
>>40342728The queen just demands first night.
>>40342505So keep an eye on your Twitter?
>>40342758Droit de Seigneur is a myth anon.>>40342806Best bet.
>>40342817>Droit de Seigneur is a myth anon.SO IS JESUS
>>40342861I SMELL HERESY!
>>40342817will we get a flashback with Hugo?
>>40342657But Hugh is the Queen's boyfriend.
New thread: >>40343010Won't be a long one.
>>40342518I'd like some Hugo x Jacque drunk sex as well!
