Hello and welcome to yet ANOTHER Quest! I’ve decided to drop MSQ, on the idea that I fucked it up. It needed to be a lot slower, with a lot more time and effort before you even killed your first Witch, let alone second or third. Thus, I shall return to it when I believe my writing skills are up to par, and once I exhaust my rather extensive list of ideas for other quests.Twitter: https://twitter.com/artemisQMArchive for other quests: suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=ArtemisQMSo! Let’s get to work!---It’s a beautiful day in Hawaii. The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and you’re sunning out on one of the greatest beaches in the world. Sure, you’re not exactly the best specimen yourself, but you manage to play it well enough, with your fancy bucket hat atop your head and a pair of relatively nice sunglasses upon your face, and your best Hawaiian shirt on and a martini to finish it all up.Obviously attracted to you, a large crowd of women approach you, wearing skimpy bikinis. One, sidling up to your left, smiles as she leans against you, clearly attracted. “Hey there, Mark. I’m so thirsty, and I’ve been sunbathing for *hours*. Is it okay if I have a sip of that cool martini you have there?”Another women approaches from the other side, pressing her not-inconsiderable cleavage into your side. “Oh, no, let me have a taste of that delicious cock...tail you have there. I’ll make it worth your while.”Finally, the hottest of them all approaches from the front, climbing up until she’s straddling you, a wide grin on her face as she says “BEEP BEEP BEEP BEE-”You hit the snooze button with the might of a thousand suns, hoping to catch it before the dream fades away. But fade it does, leaving you lying back on your bed, staring up at the ceiling.Fuck. That alarm is the ultimate cockblocker. You consider going back to sleep, but the day approacheth, and you really do need to get to work...
>>40282781Sighing, you unwrap the sheets that have managed to tangle themselves around your arms and legs, and sit up, cracking your knuckles and neck. Finally, you stand, and grab your dressing gown off the door-hook as you leave your room. First things first...>Coffee. Once we’re actually awake, we’ll be a bit more productive.>Exercise. Sure, you’re already as skinny as a pole, but that’s not exactly ‘fit’, anyway.>Shower and Change. Once you’re dressed, maybe you can pop to the store and grab some groceries.>Wake up your daughter. First day of school today, and while you don’t know what time it starts, might as well be prepared.
>>40282834>Coffee.>Coffee.>COFFEE.>Shower and change. There's nothing actually wrong with a quest moving quickly. If the pace of the plot demands that it meets its end by the tenth thread, then so be it, as long as the story was told and told well.
>>40282834>>Exercise. Sure, you’re already as skinny as a pole, but that’s not exactly ‘fit’, anyway.Best way to start the day. Coffee fags pls go.
>>40282922Indeed. But I believe that I 1. didn't plan out the story completely and 2. went sanic levels of fast in progressing through the threads.I'll come back to it, and I want to, but only when I can do the concept justice.
>>40282834>>Coffee. Once we’re actually awake, we’ll be a bit more productive. Also, that is our apartment? Truly we have a bad taste in decor.

>>40282963You yawn as you keep figuring out what you want to do, inspecting the apartment that you just purchased. Now having finally moved in, you realize just how fucking terrible the decor is. Christ. Maybe Eve can help you fix it. Anyway...
>>40282922>>40282963>>40282984Coffee Wins. Writing.
>>40282991You’re an adult now, and that means you must drink copious amounts of coffee, while complaining that to actually think you need those copious amounts of coffee. So, you head on over to the kitchen (good god this decoration is awful) and turn on the kettle. You only have that powdered stuff for now (egh), but you’re definitely thinking of picking up either one of those fancy machines that do it all for you, or just a french press and making it fresh. The kettle rings, and you pour the near-boiling water into the mug and add a drop of milk and sugar, and let it cool for a bit before taking a sip. Not exactly delicious, but it’ll wake you up, and that’s what matters.Anyway, it’s 5:52 right now. You like waking up early so you can do whatever for a few hours before getting to work...>Self Employed. You stay at home, pay the bills by doing some software development, and then enjoy yourself. You moved because the rent was cheaper than owning a home, along with other reasons...>Corporate Slave. It pays pretty damn well, and since you’re the only guy in your department, the company’s finding it pretty hard to replace you. That’s part of the reason why you moved to the new location, so you could train some new folks to take your job.

Either way, your time is yours to spend as you wish. You finish the last bits of your coffee, feeling a bit more refreshed now. Alright, next up on the to-do list is...>Work! No time like the present to bring in the dough,>Wake up your daughter. School is a-coming, and she needs to be ready.>Hearty Breakfast! Come on, you’re going to leave it at coffee?>Go for a walk. Might as well explore the new city you find yourself in.

>>40283370>Wake up your daughter. School is a-coming, and she needs to be ready.then fix>Hearty Breakfast! Come on, you’re going to leave it at coffee?so you two can eat a good meal for the day.
>>40283370Checking the clock (which displays 6:00), you decide to wake up your daughter Eve. You still don’t remember what time school starts, but you might as well get her up and moving and make a breakfast for the two of you before heading off to your own respective duties for the day.Walking over to her door, you knock it a few times. “Eve! Time for school, sweetie.”Hearing no response, you open the door, to find...>Eve sitting on her computer, headphones on, completely and utterly absorbed in the game she’s playing.>Eve still in bed, or you assume so, looking at the huge bundles of pillows and blankets piled up in a mound on the bed. How is that late?”Eve shakes her head. “Come on Dad, you know I wake at four in the mornings. You’re a slob compared to me.”You move back, letting her out of the door, and walking back towards the kitchen. “What do you even do in that time? Have you had breakfast yet?”Eve shakes her head. “Nah, I was just checking off what else I needed for school, and some research into the surrounding area. Apparently there’s a really nice shopping district not too far away, and the state park is really close to one of the train lines near us. Fancy going camping one day?”You chuckle, pulling a pan out of one of the kitchen cupboards (save me now from this shitty interior design) and setting it on the stove. “Well, looks like you’re a little bit more prepared than me. Tell you what, I’ll make some breakfast right now, and you can tell me about it.”Soon enough, you have two delicious omelettes ready for consumption, along with a cup of tea for Eve (she can’t stand coffee). As she brings you up to date on the area, she also reminds you that>There’s a few sports clubs she really wants to join, especially since she hasn’t had the opportunity to really exercise for a while.>There’s a student council she’s thinking of joining, since she always loved that politik thing.>There’s a really cool tech store nearby, and she wants to pick up some new equipment for her project.

>>40284093You listen as Eve goes on about the latest release of GPU or the next runner up in some recent sports event. You yourself are a little more attached to the first topic (especially with the Oculus Rift CV2 coming out soon), but your own daughter finds herself at odds between her athletics and her more technical hobbies. She managed to juggle between the two of them for the most part where you lived last, but with the move she’s preparing to adjust and figure out exactly how to schedule her time between everything she enjoys.Unfortunately, despite her rather extensive tastes, she has never been that much of a social butterfly, or even social at all. She definitely gets on well enough with you, and she had a few friends in your past home, but with the move, you feel slightly worried that she may have some trouble making some new ones. At the very least, if she does join a sports team or some computer club, she should make at least acquaintances there. It’s now 6:47, and you’re washing up the pan and dishes you used, while Eve sits at the table with her laptop, browsing through the inventory of that tech store she was talking about. “Hey, Eve,” you ask, “do you know what time school starts?”Eve checks her watch. “Uh, it should start in about holy shit twenty minutes fuckity fuck-” she hops out of her chair and starts packing everything into her bag in a craze. “It starts at 7:30, but we’re meant to be there just before for the opening ceremony today! Always fun to keep that one on you.Next up, you grab your cooking supplies. You’ve got everything from paprika to bay leaves, vanilla beans to cinnamon bark. Your eyes instantly drift to your cane sword, and five minutes later you have it in your hand, along with wearing a lovely suit and cap. Feeling ready to take on the rich housewives that probably frequent the shoppes (notice the spelling) of the Old District, you first set up a crock pot filled with a variety of vegetables, along with the beef itself, which will marinate in its own juices for a few hours until it’s ready to be eaten. By that time, Eve should be home, and you can have a nice dinner, talk about her day, and then celebrate the monthly pay check and new home with a gift.Once you’re out the door, and heading towards the Old District, you try to think of what kind of gift Eve would like...>A fountain pen. >>40287188Okay, cane-sword. You see a few stores that sell some ornamental swords, which you avoid with as much room as possible, sometimes walking on the other side of the street. Once you arrive in the Artisans’ Square, there are plenty more stores that seem to offer what you’re looking for. One, which is just labeled “Blacksmith”, seems to be the best bet, and you head on inside, where you find a front shop, manned by a single teenager who seems to be here much more for the weapons than the customers. He gives you a small wave and goes back to whatever game he’s playing on his phone, out of sight.>Look around>”Sirrah! Get thine eyes away from that infernal contraption and assist me in my task!”>”Sirrah! Dost thy master take custom orders?”
>>40287510>Look aroundLet's see what they have before we ask for a custom order.
>>40287510>>Look aroundSee what they have before we go any further. If their work is crap we can look elsewhere.
>>40287510>>Look aroundI'll bet this store has some neat stuff.
we're going to come to be known as "that one guy who talks like a Shakespearean novel, but he carries a swordcane so dont fuck with him"oh god we're turning into familyman HendersonI wholeheartedly aprove
>>40287510You nod to the teenager (who doesn’t even respond, comatose as he is) and you go to browse the collection. You see quite a few different blades, all seemingly of very high quality (which you might pick up yourself), along with a collection of some older weaponry (and you see more than a few that you’d like to take home). But finally, you stumble upon the item that you’re searching for, a cane-blade.Picking it up, you admire its shape and outer appearance. While most cane-blades tend to go for a very dull-look, so as not to draw attention to the fact that it is a deadly weapon, this one looks more like a scabbard that’s completely capable of supporting your weight, along with keeping the blade itself safe. You don’t recognize the wood that the cane is made from, but it’s inlayed with a silver pattern that waves back and forth through it, a patch of vines growing from the top to the bottom. Very pretty. The blade’s grip itself is a black leather with another silver embellishment forming the hilt. A small button set into the silver, made from the same material, serves to disconnect the blade from the cane. And the blade itself is just as beautiful. Contrasting the cane, the blade is a brilliant silver with a maze of grey vines serving as channels up along the blade, and as you inspect the blade they almost seem to wave in some invisible wind. It’s incredibly beautiful, and probably just what you’re looking for.>Sirrah! I would like to purchase this here piece of art!>Sirrah! Do you have any other cane-blades like this in stock?>Sirrah! Bring me thy master, so I may talk to him about custom works.
>>40287992>Sirrah! Do you have any other cane-blades like this in stock? The shakespeare stuff only exists to embarrass our kid. Do you even Dad?

>>40287992“Sirrah!” You call, walking over to the teenager, who jumps slightly at the noise. “I would like to inquire if you have any more blades similar to this one.”The kid nods after a moment, and pulls out a binder, flipping through the pages until he finds...”Uh, sir, we don’t carry cane-blades.”You frown. “What about this one, then?”The teenager shrugs. “Don’t know. Does it have a price on it?”You check, and find nothing, apart from the vines themselves. “Uh, no.”The teenager shrugs. “Alright then, our unmarked items all cost five-hundred to a thousand. That’s probably towards the higher end.”>Well, it’s worth it.>Eh, can you bring the price down?>Actually, no thanks.
>>40288267>>Eh, can you bring the price down?Always haggle. Preferably in Shakespearean prose.
>>40288267>Eh, can you bring the price down?
>>40288267>>Actually, no thanks.
>>40288267>>Eh, can you bring the price down?
>>40288267You cough, and adjust your position a tad. “Perhaps it would be possible to bring the price down?”The kid shrugs. “I guess. Buy some other stuff and I’ll toss the cane in free-”“Sold.” you dump (very gently) some of the medieval weapons on the counter. “I’ll have these please. Oh, and paper, not plastic.”---Soon enough, you’re whistling your way back to your apartment, weapons in tow. A few people are looking at you strangely, but hey, they’re the weird ones, dressed in normal clothes with no blades to their name! You leave Old District soon enough, and make it back to your apartment before 2:00, from where you take your time setting up everything you need for dinner while the beef stew continues to cook. The medieval blades get hung up around the room, covering up the more awful aspects of the apartment itself, and soon enough it looks just like your old place. Your old place. You collapse into a chair and sigh in relief. You’re not there anymore, and you’re a bit better off now. You hope. She’s out of your life, out of your hair, and you’ve got a restraining order to prove it. Goddamn shame it took so long.Anyway, you’ve got maybe a few hours before Eve comes home. You decide>To just go have a nap (Timeskip, Backstory)>Time to renovate this shit-pit! (Timeskip, Apartment actually looks nice.)>Head back to the school. >>40289226>>40289116>>40289073Writing for Medieval then.
>>40289428Your first step is to tear down the absolutely awful shelves and disgusting flooring and that horrible kitchen table and literally everything. With the help of your trusty saw and claw-hammer, you dissemble most of the wooden items, and the floor itself you start to pull up as well. Soon enough, you’re left with just the drywall and the concrete beneath the floor. Now, you bring in the real work.First step are stone tiles for the ground. But these are proper tiles, merely cut down bricks to act as tiles on top of the concrete, with that polish that comes from years of feet rubbing down the stone to a smooth finish (or just a buffer for twenty minutes, but whatever). Setting those down on the ground with the help of some epoxy, and soon enough the floor looks incredibly attractive. On top of that you throw down a lovely fur carpet, and some lovely chairs and a solid looking kitchen table (found on the corner of an Old District street, and thus perfect for the task). The walls themselves you (unfortunately) cannot destroy, but you can put some stuff on top of it. That’s what leads you to acquire some tapestries (you’re considering getting a Frequent Visitors card for Old District) and some stands and holders for your various blades. Finally, the kitchen, apart from the stove, is replaced with some proper counter tops and the fireplace is renovated, with a kettle set above the fire for that extra authenticity. And finally, around 6:23, you relax back in your chair, admiring your hard work. And you also realize that Eve still hasn’t arrived home.>Call her, see how she’s doing.>Head to the school. Probably still at the club. And maybe you can give her present a bit early!>Eh, she’s a strong independent daughter of a single father, she’ll be fine.

>>40289735Hmm. It is pretty late, even for some after-school activities. It may be best if you can go find her. Pulling yourself out of your chair, you grab your and Eve’s cane-swords, attaching Eve’s to your belt and keeping yours in hand, and hop on THE STALLION. With a few revs, you’re off to find your daughter, and ensure that any adventures she’s having involve you!Red light. You take a moment to look around the city again, now that you’re out of the Old District. It’s definitely a nice place, with it’s own parts and whatever, but for sure it’s different from where you last lived. The green light allows you to escape from that particular memory path.Soon enough, you’re outside the school. You park, and head inside, entering the large main lobby. There’s a receptionist on the far side of the room, who seems to be slightly curious about you and the two canes you carry.>Try calling Eve, figure out where she is.>Go to the receptionist, ask her about Eve and what clubs are running today.>Welp, the building isn’t burning down, she must be fine.>>40290035SoL is part of it, but there are certainly more elements than that.

At that, you end the call, and head to the receptionist.“Uh, hello there, sir. Can I help you?”You smile. “Yes, I’m the father of Eve Dunholdt. She should have registered today, right?”The receptionist nods. “That’s right, I signed her in. Are you here to sign the other paperwork?”“Well, I was here to see if my daughter joined any of the clubs. Not sure what system you have here for that.”The receptionist pulls out a sheet of paper and hands it to you. “Well, while people don’t exactly sign up for any of the clubs, as they’re free to go as they please, Eve had asked me for a list of some of the clubs that she might like. Waving goodbye to the receptionist, you head along to the room, following the map that she provided.Soon enough, you find yourself outside the room. Knocking, and hearing nothing, you head on inside, where you find several PCs littered around the room, a few people all hooked up to them, CV1s and a few Vives on everyone’s heads, except for one boy who’s watching them all. He turns to you as you enter. “Uh, hello. Can I help you?”“Yes, I’m looking for my daughter Eve? Did she come here?”The boy nods. “Yeah, I remember Eve. The new kid, right? She was with us, but got pulled out half an hour ago by some other girl, Samantha Beckett I think. Blond, cheerleader type? Anyway, don’t know where they went.”You say thanks, and leave again, wondering what your next step is.>Head home. >>40290669You grimace as you consider the possible ramifications of this Samantha Beckett. You’ve eaten enough mangoes to know where this is going: magical girls. And yuri. Lots of it. You’re fully aware that mangoes, while delicious, don’t necessarily reflect on real life all that well, but that’s the best reference you have for this sort of thing. And besides, you’re Eve’s father! Which, according to mango, either means being incredibly unreasonable, or a total hunk who even his own daughter desires! And if your daughter is having an adventure then you’re going to do your damn best to go on that adventure too! Bonus points for embarrassing her!You head back down to the reception, finding the woman just about to lock up. “Excuse me, I wanted to ask one more question.”“Uh, sure.”“Do you have Samantha Beckett’s number? It appears Eve had left with her earlier today, and since Eve’s phone is off I was thinking I could contact her through there.”The receptionist frowns. “We can’t just give out personal details like that, but I can give you the home-phone, if you’d like to check in with her folks or whoever’s at home.”“That would be perfect, thanks.”Soon enough your phone has the number and you’re calling. After three rings, a man picks up. “Hello, Beckett residence.”“Hi there! My name is Mark Dunholdt. I was calling to see if your daughter and mine own are at your house?”The voice“Dunholdt? Oh, you mean Eve! What a lovely girl. Yes, yes, she was here.”“Was?”“They said they were going to head out. Girl stuff, they tell me. Obviously us father’s can’t know.”You both chuckle in understanding. “Alright. Well, I do need to find her, wherever they are.”“Oh, I think they actually had gone down to the Old District. The flying girl tries to call down something, but you don’t pay attention.Instead, you sit down beside Eve, setting your blades to the side momentarily, lifting her head into your lap. You stroke her hair gently, looking at her face. She would almost look like she’s peacefully asleep, if you denied the specks of blood coating her face, how pale she was, how close to death she looks. Her eyes flutter open, looking up at you wonderingly. “D...Dad?”You smile at her. “Heya, Evie, sweetie.”“I...It...hurts.”You chuckle. “It’s alright, Evie. The world fractures around you, and you feel it tearing at you, pulling you apart. But you hold on, and the blades in your hands harden the reality around you, keeping it together.“You hurt Eve.”The world around you continues to harden, Order slowly beating out Chaos. The edges become too straight, the lines too logical, the abstract of everything leaving, only the cold harsh light of Reality remaining.“So now I’m going to hurt you.”The monster swings down at you, but you roll underneath the blow and get inside his guard, slicing at the tentacle-legs supporting it. It roars, and slams the ground, sending you flying up into the air.You spot the blonde girl again, still watching you, this time with a look of awe on her face. Your upward ascent ends, and you start falling back towards the monster. And even as it attempts to hit you out of the air, you cut through its limbs, and land on its neck.(2/3)
>>40292393Thanks, anon! Feedback from you guys means the world to me!>>40292395“Always wanted to do this,” you mutter to yourself, as you take both blades and sever the monster’s neck. “Feeling like Captain Levi.”The non-sequitur is lost on the monster. It collapses to the ground, and disappears in a burst of brilliant light. You drop back down toward the ground, the harsh and cold reality around you slowly dissolving as you swing the blades to clear them of the dark blood before sheathing them again. You walk back over to Eve, who’s still lying down on the ground. You spot the girl sitting next to her again, her hands hovering above Eve’s leg. You watch as golden motes fly around the stump of the leg, watch as it’s slowly healed. Not all of it. Not enough. The girl turns to you, shaking. “I-I’m sorry,” she whispers, ghost-white. “T-this was never meant to h-happen...”>Ignore the girl, and take your daughter home.>”It’s not your fault. Much more likely it was the other way round. Here, come back to our place, and you can explain to me about all...this,” you indicate the fragmented world.Sam sniffs, and nods. “O-okay.”“I’m just going to call your father as well, explain what happ-”“No!” Sam cries. You turn to look at her. “Why not? Shouldn’t he know?”Sam shivers. “I mean, I’d like him to...but, this is dangerous. I don’t want to involve him. But I have to do it too, and if he stops me...”You sigh. “Alright, alright. I’ll make a cover story. But, I can’t just hide the fact that,” you cough, “my daughter lost a leg. Something went down tonight, and your dad has to know. Maybe not about this whole...magical girl thing, I guess, but at least that you guys got in trouble.”Samantha nods. “Alright...then.”“Now, can you show me the way out of here? Before it collapses around us.”---Soon enough, you’re back in your apartment. You had called John as soon as you left the ‘Witchspace’, as Samantha called it, giving him a version about what happened.“Hello, Beckett Residence.”“Hi there John!”The voice perks up. “Oh, hi Mark! What’s up?”“There’s been a problem.”The voice pauses. “Is my daughter hurt?”You look at Samantha by your side, still in her get up. “No, she’s fine. But Eve...”“Oh god...I’m sorry, is she-”Your own voice hardens. “She’s alive, but...she’s injured. Crippled.”“...Is this Samantha’s fault?”“God no. She wasn’t responsible. To be fair,” you chuckle, “it may have been Eve’s fault. They went into the Old District and got...uh, held up.”“Wait, you mean-”“No, not that far, thank god. But she was still injured. I managed to get there in time.”“What happened?”“I’ll need to show you my cane-sword later. Let’s say I wasn’t happy.”(1/2)
>>40292802soo either we burned out all our rage by violently murdering the thing, or we're putting on a facsimile so that we dont kill everything within a hundred mile radius. my money's on the latter.
>>40292802>Oh, hi Mark!Oh you cheesy fuck.
>>40292827“Wait, did you call the police? What’s happened to-”“It’s okay, John. The fact they went that far shows that they’re desperate, the lowest of the low. I don’t think you’ll hear anything on the news about them. Now, I’m just gonna bring Sam back to my place for a bit, check her for injuries, but you’ll need to come pick her up.”“Yeah, that’s fine. What’s the address?”“2323 Mallard Road, the big apartment block. I can buzz you in.”“Alright. Sorry again, Mark.”“No need to be sorry. See you soon.”“Seeya.”You end the call, and turn back to Samantha. “Come on, the building’s just up ahead. We can get you sorted and back into normal clothes up there.”You both keep walking. Eve’s still in your arms, held like you would when she was still young enough and always wanting to be carried, sitting in the crook of your arms and just resting like that. She’s doing it now, her head leaning into your chest, a slight smile on your face. It’s all jarred by the missing leg, and the blood on the magical garments she’s wearing. And yet, it feels...normal, again. Normal like you haven’t felt in a long time.Once you’re back in the apartment, you lie down Eve on the sofa, making sure she’s comfy, a thick blanket resting on top of her. Once she’s set up, you check her leg again. It was cut off just above the knee, leaving her thigh behind. The stump itself looks smooth, healed over already.“Uh...I healed her, as you were fighting the Abomination. I’m sorry, but I couldn’t heal back the leg, not without some more energy.”You frown. “Would...would it be possible to get her leg back?”Samantha sighs. “...Yes, kinda. But, not right now. Not for a while.”“What would it take?” your voice hardens in determination.Samantha shivers at the tone. “It would take a wish.”>A wish? Like, genie style? >>40293026Holy shit, this.
>>40292953You put your head in your hands. “Alright, one moment. Can you start from the beginning? Explain everything?”Samantha nods. “O-okay. Uh, so I’m what you’d call a magical girl. I heard you call me that. Are you aware of the concept?”You laugh. “I’m aware. I’m just wondering whether this is PMMM or Nanoha or...shit, I don’t know, Kill la Kill. Certainly wasn’t expecting for my life to become an animu or mango, either.”Samantha seems a bit lost. “I...what?”“Just keep explaining, please.”“Alright, well...the magical girls are, well, girls that are magical...we’re here to fight back the Chaos that’s threatening to envelop the universe. We’re fighting against the entropy of the universe, essentially.”“Huh, so it’s like a good PMMM.”“What?”“Nevermind. Continue.”“Well, as we fight Chaos, we can collect Shards. Shards are like the lost pieces of reality, because the entropy got too far, or something else. Anyway, if you collect those shards, you can use them to rebuild a new reality. That either means your own world, kinda like Witchspace but not corrupt, or...make a wish, by changing the reality that we already live in. The second one is a LOT harder, requires many more shards than the first. But you are affecting the real universe, so...” Samantha shrugs. “I don’t know, I haven’t done either.”“Alright then, what about the Abominations? Are they what you call Witches?”Samantha shakes her head. “No, Witches are...something else. The Abominations are what you usually find. They’re evil, for sure, but they’re uncontrolled beings, wild and savage, and they just seek to cause strife. It’s our job to destroy them.”“Are all of them that...ah, difficult?”“No, that one was...on the border of evolving into a Witch. Too powerful.”“And what about the Witches themselves?”(1/2)
>>40293246Is Mom a witch?I mean, she's obviously a bitch but is she a bitch witch or a witch bitch?
>>40293301¯\_(ツ)_/¯ >>40293246“Well, there are seven of them right now. They create Abominations, with the purpose of creating more Witches. That hasn’t happened for a really long time, though. This was probably the closest in a long while. If it hadn’t been for you...” Samantha shudders, “I’m not too sure what would happen, apart from pain.”“Alright then. I kinda get this. Has anyone killed a Witch?”Samantha laughs. “You wish. Each one is based off one of the Seven Sins. To kill one, you’d essentially have to be so virtuous that you cancel out their own evil, and the evil of everyone else. It would be a bit difficult.”You turn to look at Eve. “So what happens now? Is Eve a magical girl?”Sam nods, then shakes her head again. “Well, she’s in this in-between stage. She has the potential, but she needs a magical item to activate it.”“What would that be?”“Anything with a lot of exposure to Chaos, or Order...” she eyes the caneswords, still attached to your belt. “Those would be...quite the magical items.”You look down at the two canes. “Ah. So these are magical?”Samantha laughs. “Are you kidding? Those are some of the most magical things I’ve seen...well, ever. Even my own item,” she pulls out a necklace from underneath her dress, “is pretty much something I found on the ground near one of the gates. It had enough that I naturally flipped.”“And so these swords?”“Guaranteed flip. And she’ll be incredibly powerful. She’s pretty powerful right now actually. Probably because of you...” Samantha watches you for a bit. “Tell me, Mr. Dunholdt, are you a woman?”“Well there’s the question. No, I’m not.”Samantha sighs. “Well, then her mother-”“No.” you interrupt.“But-”“NO. Trust me on this, I can’t think of a worst contender to fight Chaos than her mother.”“...If you say so.” Samantha seems unconvinced. You hear the intercom ringing.>Ah, your dad is here. Floor 6, the eight apartment.”You sigh, and turn back to Samantha. “Alright, you change quickly. Grab some clothes from Eve’s room, other there.” you point at the appropriate door. Now, it’s like your sitting by the fire at home, Eve resting on your lap, and you smiling down at her, and back at-No, not going down that route. You force your attention back on Eve, stroking her hair. She wriggles a little deeper, that slight smile still on her face. Normal. Relaxing. The doorbell rings, and you go to open the door, letting John in. “Hey there, John.”“Hi, Mark. Nice to meet you. Shame we couldn’t do this in better circumstances.” you shake hands, and lead him in. “Huh, nice place. I like what you’ve done.”“Thanks. Can I interest you in some hot chocolate? I’m making a bit more everyone.”“That...sounds like just what I need, thank you.”He goes to sit in the living room, and you pour out a few mugs of hot chocolate, setting them down on the living room table. Where’s Samantha?”“Right here,” she calls, appearing from Eve’s room. She’s dressed in a pair of Eve’s old sweatpants and some old shirt of yours that may have been with Eve’s stuff, which almost drown her in the extra fabric.John stands up and goes to hug his daughter, then holds her at arm length. “Are you okay? Are you hurt?”“No, dad, I’m fine, I promise.”“Alright,” he sighs, “I just...got really worried. Though I hear that Mark’s own reaction was a bit...more intimidating than my own.” He smiles.“Anyway, thank you so much, Mark, for taking care of my daughter. I’m guessing that you probably won’t be going to school for a bit, so...well, if you ever need help.”They leave, and you sit back down with your daughter, her head in your lap again. After a few minutes, she wakes up again, eyes fluttering open. “Uh...dad?”You smile. “Hi there, Evie.”“...What happened...” she tries to pull off the blanket, but realizes she’s still in her magical garments, “uh, about this-”“Shh, it’s fine, Samantha explained it to me.”Eve nods. “Okay...what about the...thing.” she shudders. You hug her a little closer. “Hey, it’s okay. I took care of it.”She smiles. “I...remember that. You, the swords...like a prince coming to save me.”You kiss her on the head. “And you’re my sweet damsel in distress, forever and always. >>40294148You grin, and pull up the cane, handing it over to her. “Here you go, try that.”And slowly, she goes to grab the cane...---You watch as Dad grabs the cane, the beautiful etching of vines running up and down the barrel of the dark wood, and lifts it up to you. “Here you go, try that,” Dad says, grinning that grin of his, slightly lopsided, but...genuine. More than that bitch. Even if Dad doesn’t talk about it, that bitch still exists in your mind, preying on your every thought. But Dad’s here, and she’s gone. So you bring up your hands, wrapping your fingers around the cane...Fury.You jerk slightly as the vines around the cane unravel themselves and start traveling up your own arms, growing their own path up along to your shoulders, then you feel it spread from there to all over your body. You can feel the burning brightness of the vines, burning away anything that tries to hurt you, an uncontrollable rage that consumes everything.Determination.And the vines start to flower, the leaves and petals adding beauty to the chaos of the vines. The uncontrollable becomes controlled, and the rage is calmed, re-purposed, redirected into a single focus, to defeat what needs defeating and destroy what needs to be gone. And, finally,Love. The flowers of the vines bloom, and you...understand. Your Dad, he still feels hurt. Those times, the ones he tries to forget, they still haunt him. And yet, even with his own pain...He’s there for you. Always, and forever. You smile up at him, setting the cane to the side, and lie back down in his lap, feeling that sense of familiarity overtake you, like you’re seven again, resting against him in that old home. And before you drift off, you say to him,“Thank you. You’re the Best Dad Ever.”---And that's the end for tonight!twitter: https://twitter.com/artemisQMRemember to follow me, so you know when my other threads come online! Thanks for being here!
