>Twitter is @QMKingofHearts>Archive is on Suptg, tagged “Shinigami Savant Quest”You are Captain Kusajishi Riku, of the Ninth Guard Division. After your borderline treasonous day yesterday, you've managed to get at least a little bit of rest before your first full day as a Captain. Instead of practicing your sword technique this morning, you're obliged to read over the Divisional policies as they were put in place by your predecessor, Captain Muguruma, in order to figure out how to run your unit. Yoruichi curls up next to you in her unobtrusive feline form, just in case you find yourselves interrupted by official business, while you read over page after page of notes.“So, what exactly did I do to you back then?” you muse as you shut the cover of a list of publishing guidelines and regulations for the Shinigami news magazine's printing office. “You know, while I was a Hollow?”Yoruichi's ears lay flat for a moment as she recalls the event, despite clearly understanding the importance of knowing exactly what these new abilities of yours can do. “I saw two unusual things,” she replies in her strangely gravelly, masculine voice. “One was a compressed, bullet-like cero that I didn't give you the chance to use.”“Like a bullet?” you repeat, looking over a document detailing patrol schedules and sector-based deployments. Yoruichi raises her head to look at you. “Yes. It wasn't much bigger around than your fingertip, but was extremely dense and powerful. Quite the deadly little trick if you could ever replicate it.”You nod, mentally noting how appropriate it is that an ability like that would belong to someone with your history. “You said there were two?”“I did,” Yoruichi replies. “The second is more difficult to understand. When I cut you, towards the end of your rampage, your blood was infused with a dangerous amount of reiatsu. Needless to say, I didn't cut you again after that.”(1/2)
>>39957264As you flip through a copy of the swordsmanship primer for new recruits, noting it to be a decent enough review of the basics, you begin to explain to Yoruichi what you fought against. “You spent a lot of the time on the ground,” you recount with a grin. “Though when you finally broke through my bakudō, you tried to use a terrifying attack... at each of your fingertips you created a blade-like cero. Each claw was vibrating at a high frequency.”“Vibrating?” she muses. “How fast?”“Millions of times per second,” you reply, resolving to print a secondary manual for higher-level sword instruction at some point down the line. “I don't doubt it'd have little trouble cutting through damn near anything in its path.”Yoruichi rises to her paws, padding silently towards the window. “I like the sound of that. We'll have to work on it at some point. See you later, then?”You nod. “Of course.”Some thirty minutes or so pass after Yoruichi's stealthy departure before Rangiku knocks at your door. She slides it open, kneeling formally in front of the entrance as the dawn streams in from over her shoulders.“Surprised to see you up so early,” she muses. You can only shrug noncommittally as you pull on your Captain's jacket. “Eighty years of habit.” Just saying the words make you feel a little older than usual, but it's a feeling that's quickly pushed aside. You're quick to join Rangiku in your morning preparations, walking along the covered patio towards the smell of breakfast. “So what's the first order of business?”>We have guns now. I want to look them over before training begins.>I'll start retraining seats Two through Ten. Each of you will train ten others. >I'll run classes ten at a time until we've worked through them all.>Do me a favor and gather my top seated officers. I want to see their skills.>Other?
>>39957264>“One was a compressed, bullet-like cero that I didn't give you the chance to use.”Fuck yes. We will have so much to talk to Starrk about
>>39957290>Do me a favor and gather my top seated officers. I want to see their skills.Sort out the command structure first.
>>39957290>We have guns now. I want to look them over before training begins.>I'll run classes ten at a time until we've worked through them all.>Do me a favor and gather my top seated officers. I want to see their skills.
>>39957290>Do me a favor and gather my top seated officers. I want to see their skills.
>>39957290>>Do me a favor and gather my top seated officers. I want to see their skills.
>>39957290Don't suppose you got a new pastebin up do ya King?
>>39957290>>Do me a favor and gather my top seated officers. I want to see their skillsDid we replace all the empty seats? Doe it go third seat, leutenent, captain?
>>39957290>>Do me a favor and gather my top seated officers. I want to see their skills.Wonder when old.man genocide will get back at Riku for those sandals. Maybe drag her ton be a training partner with the new kenpachi and figure his skills.
>>39957290>Do me a favor and gather my top seated officers. I want to see their skills.I wonder if we could create a field Kido Canon. One that shoots gillian/adjucas cero equivilents instead of blowing up dimensions.
>>39957290>Do me a favor and gather my top seated officers. I want to see their skills.Time for best new quest!
>>39957375Before we came in seats 1-6 were missingWe've filled 3 of the seats with Iba, Kai and Maki
>>39957290>Do me a favor and gather my top seated officers. I want to see their skills.Iba, Maki and Nikko, time to see if you have what it takes to stay in the Juppongatana. And seeing those last two names placed together just conjures the wrong image, at least for this setting.>I'll start retraining seats Two through Ten. Each of you will train ten others.
>>39957290>Do me a favor and gather my top seated officers. I want to see their skills.see what we have to work with and go from there
>>39957428>I wonder if we could create a field Kido Canon. One that shoots gillian/adjucas cero equivilents instead of blowing up dimensions. How well does Riku know Kuukaku by this point? Because I do believe she can approach that avenue through Kuukaku's kidou and explosives expertise.
>>39957462We hold first seat and Rangiku holds seat two. We have filled in 3, 4, and 5. We need to find one for six.
>>39957606Why is Kuukaku so good at kidou, anyway?
>>39957290“Do me a favor,” you ask. “After breakfast, gather our top officers at the kidō training field. I want to see what they can do.”Rangiku nods, grabbing two trays of freshly-cooked food: this morning it seems to be British-style. “Will do, ma'am.”After a quick meal, you dash off without your Lieutenant to ensure you have plenty of time before she gathers the officers you requested. On the training field is a wooden crate, inside of which are ten brand-new kidō rifles packed in straw. A separate box holds the ammunition for the weapons, and a small velvet bag sits atop the rest of the items. Inside is a note written in spindly handwriting along with three glass phials, each with a cap at one end and some sort of spring-loaded mechanism.“Captain Kusajishi: these three phials are designed to release a serum into the body through the needle at one end. The serum is distilled from Hollow blood, and can trigger immediate cellular regeneration at the site of a wound. Do not mention my Bankai training or I'll kill you.”Huh, so this is the “extra” Mayuri was talking about. Neat. The heft of the first rifle you remove from its packing is vaguely familiar. The mechanisms are clean and chemically treated to resist rust, and the barrels are nice and straight. But the real question is do they shoot as well as they look like they should? There's only one way to find out, and you've got plenty of time...>3d10, DC 6.

>>39957777God damnit why didn't you roll earlier?
>>39957777you can always trust that /tg/ dice will give you the perfect roll AFTER they no longer count.
Soul Reapers can't into guns
>>39957756I don't suppose we could use the fourth roll since Riku is familiar with rifles..?Please have mercy...
>>39957787Apparently, extolling the values of best amputee is favorable with the dice gods, same as posting best cat pics. But it took time, as usual.
>>39957264>>39957290>High Frequency Reiatsu blade>Millitary grade Cero Sniper round My god, our hollow form mimics our Quincy powers.
At least we got vials that will let us regrow any limbs we lose.
>>39957830>High Frequency Reiatsu bladeThat one's on Yoru though. Still could be learned, so that's not out the window at least.
>>39957756Please be merciful and just have it be that the one rifle we picked up is shit and it's not that Riku's skill with a gun has degraded.....
>>39957873We may need to tap into the mask and Rosa's skill to git gudwtf captcha you want steak and you give me a picture of poker chips
>>39957873Nah. The gun probably can't handle how well she can compress the energy like when Urahara was first making them.
>>39957901>Nah. The gun probably can't handle how well she can compress the energy like when Urahara was first making them.....Oh fuck this is going to hurt isn't it?
>>39957873Normal failure, she looks like a fool before grabbing a manual and trying again.Crit failure would blow it up in her hands
well he's not giving us an option for a reroll so it can't be that bad. probably going to hurt our pride more then anything else.
>>39957756HuhMayuri is actually a pretty cool dude. Sure, he's an arrogant asshole, but still.
>>39957907It shouldn't. Remember what happened when Soi Fon tried to use her shiki on aizen? He was so much stronger than her that it couldn't affect him. At least I remember that being the reason why it didn't work on him.
>>39957921>Tenko is miffed at our incompentence>Hollow Rosa has an urge to manifest and slap Riku for being so out of touch with her quincy side.
>>39957830Nah, Riku has the Bullet Cero and EXPLOSIVE BLOOD.
>>39957977>EXPLOSIVE BLOOD.Could be acidic blood
>>39957907>>39957901The reiatsu amount is already regulated, since it's stored in casings at this point. I don't think she'll make the same mistake of infusing it some more.I hope it's just aim calibration issues at best.
>>39957997>>39957977Likely related to her use of Blut vein and blut arterie when she was a quincy. Since they ahd to charge their blood with reishi to use the techniques.
>>39957756You load a round, seating it firmly in the chamber before sliding the block into place and clicking the safety off. Take aim... control breathing... squeeze the trigger...The weapon goes off, striking the wall behind your intended target: low and wide right. That's not what was supposed to happen at all! Every single step of the process was correct for your part, so the problem must be mechanical. Luckily for you, the crate also contains all the gunsmithing tools you could ask for and at least a few you never knew you wanted. “That's not good,” you mutter, finding at least one source of the problem: the base for the ladder sight is mounted improperly, meaning the rear aperture is in the wrong place. You correct this issue, only to find that a careful inspection of the innards of the weapon show rough machining on almost every part. No wonder the trigger was so heavy and full of grit, they haven't been properly finished! It broke late and hard, leading you to jerk the weapon ever so slightly downward just before the primer ignited. Speaking of which, the action isn't as smooth or as polished as it should be, which increases the lock time. You thought it felt too long between trigger break and bang, and that explains it.In short, these rifles are useless to you in their present form.“Having trouble, Captain?” Rangiku teases you as she arrives with Third Seat Nikko, Fourth Seat Iba, and Fifth Seat Ichinose in tow. You shrug, tossing the rifle back into the crate and tucking the phials into your sash for now. “Remind me to shout at Mayuri later. Shoddy sight alignment, inconsistent trigger weight, and gritty mechanics. Poor showing, really... I'll have to disassemble them all and fix 'em when I get the chance.”“So Soul Society's slow ta change?” Kai muses. “Amazin'. Never woulda guessed it.”(1/2)
Time to see if they have a recommendation for six seat.
>>39958021>Alright, smart mouth. Just for that you're up first.>Iba, Ichinose. Fight each other so I can see how good you are.>I have no idea what you can do, Ichinose. Show me.>Other?>>39958016This is pretty much the rationale.
>>39958059>Alright, smart mouth. Just for that you're up first.
>>39958050We should probably bump up someone from our division>>39958059>Alright, smart mouth. Just for that you're up first.

>>39958059>Alright, smart mouth. Just for that you're up first.Playfully i assume?
>>39958082>We should probably bump up someone from our divisionThen that means we would have to find another person to replace the one we bump up.
>>39958059>Alright, smart mouth. Just for that you're up first.Let's see what skills he picked up from the 11th.>>39958021Wow, I thought I called it, but it seems the problems are worse than what I initially suspected.>>39958095Meta talk: Wasn't there also an instance of Captain Isshin having incendiary blood in canon?
>>39958129Well that's how promotions work. And we have an entire division to shuffle around anyhow.
>>39958147Your suggestion would leave us one man short or have us promote someone to a seat higher than we should be. We should hit the academy and see if there is anyone decent there.
>>39958182how would we be a man short
>>39958182You realize that we have the entire division to choose from right? A division is more than just the seated officers
all this talk about 6th seat, why dont we just grab the guy in the hollow forest?
>>39958220HA! I like you.
>>39958220True but I don't know if he would want to go, or let us take the swords there, or like us for working with hollows.
>>39958220What i figure might happen. Be interesting to explain. Shinigami survivor man.
>>39958208If they weren't a seated officer chances are they probably aren't worth promoting.>>39958241It's not as if we are feeding people to hollows.
>>39958144That's more of a case of using his blood as additional fuel to his getsuga tensho. His blood is used for offensive purposes whilst his getsuga tensho is a ranged slicing wave.Riku's blood is a defense mechanism, and her cero bullet is a precision based projectile that fires at a small area. Extrapolation of what happens when the bullet is fired and hits it's target suggests an explosion will occur from the bullet's impact or detonation at max range with a blast radius of 1~2 city blocks.
so we're absolutely keeping all of those healing vials for when Gin Yoru or Rangiku is about to die right? while figuring out how to get more in the meantime?
>>39958263Well there are special cases as well as the need for upward movement
>>39958359Oh yeah, Definitely
>>39958365case in point: Mr. Kenpachi. Also, how hard is his murder boner right now? is he actively seeking us for a fight or is he still chillin like a boss?
>>39958312Rikus blood isn't a defense mechanism. She just knows how to infuse spirit energy into her veins to make her self stupidly tough. Also stop trying to make your self look smart by sprouting bullshit. You have no clue what the explosion would do.>>39958365It's not worth it. There would be way to many people to go through not even counting that seats 11-20 have more than on person holding the position.
>>39958208In Bleach, it really isn't. The captain and the lieutenant usually account for like 99% of any given division's strength.
>>39958400any one not seated in the seats 3-10 or even 11-20 that are strong enough for the sixth seat position should be viewed on the same level of suspicion as aizen or beyond. Cause they would have to be that skilled to hide their true strength.
>>39958400He's probably chilling. He's got some sort of murder boner, but whether it's a bigger one for us than the other captains is yet to be seen. He's certainly not got the same one he does for Ichigo.
>>39958059“Alright, smartass,” you fire back, causing the rest of your Commando-prospects to chuckle... only now you're starting to realize how much machismo you've recruited so far. “Just for that, you get to go first.”Kai offers you a bow, the humility clearly played-up for humor, before slinging his lever-gun into position. “Beat, Kamitinbe!”His Zanpakuto has changed since you fought off that Gillian together all those years ago: its spear blade now projects out under the end of his rifle's barrel, and the tinbe shield now has a notch specifically designed for resting his rifle in it. He dashes towards one of the practice targets, taking a few shots as he moves, before demonstrating his more traditional shield-and-spear tactics in close quarters. His speed isn't the greatest, but his defenses are strong and his attacks are solid at all ranges. And that rifle of his is the real deal, not like these clunky pieces of junk Mayuri foisted onto you. He's even figured out how to work the lever one-handed without disrupting his pattern of attacks.“Not bad,” Rangiku admits. “I'd heard Eleventh Division had good fighters, but this is a totally original style. His reiatsu isn't bad either... not really my type, though.”You sigh loudly and bring your fist down lightly onto your daughter's head. “Doesn't matter whose “type” he is, Lieutenant. All that matters is he's still as good a fighter as I remember.”>Okay, that's enough. Iba, Ichinose. Show me what you can do.>Ichinose, you're the new guy. Let's see what you're made of.>Hey, loudmouth! How strong is that shield?>Other?
>>39958409I'm not making myself look smart, I'm just guessing what I think what would happen if Riku did manage to fire a Cero bullet off. Queen would have a say if I'm wrong about my guess
>>39958485>Okay, that's enough. Iba, Ichinose. Show me what you can do.
>>39958485>>Hey, loudmouth! How strong is that shield?>Okay, that's enough. Iba, Ichinose. Show me what you can do.
>>39958485>Hey, loudmouth! How strong is that shield?>Okay, that's enough. Iba, Ichinose. Show me what you can do.
>>39958485>>Okay, that's enough. Iba, Ichinose. Show me what you can do.>>39958496Your sprouting bullshit to make yourself look smart.
>>39958410yeah, we REALLY need to make it so our lesser units use tactics where they DON'T just drop like fruit-flies when faced with anything at gillian level or stronger. We will be the first damn division where the non-seated units are actually useful to the captain and lietenant in a fight for more than just fighting people like fuckin acidwire. I mean goddamn GRAND FISHER said he killed multiple shinigami, and he's a fuckin useless candy-ass.We will make our division into a goddamn EMBLEM of strength and unity where the lesser troops use guerilla warfare tactics, long-range weapons, and healing skills to actually do jack-shit against a powerful enemy.
>>39958485>Ichinose, you're the new guy. Let's see what you're made of.
>>39958485>Ichinose, you're the new guy. Let's see what you're made of.Need to see if we can calm him down. Get in his head.
>>39958519It's not a matter of tactics but a matter of strength. Also fisher was strong. Seated officer strong at that.
>>39958518well sorry if I went full autistic when typing that post. What else was I supposed to say? And lets drop the subject before this devolves into a shitstorm.
It's nice to have a slow thread for once.
>>39958567my point is that most of the non-seated officers are essentially useless if they follow how shinigami typically fight, and they're not likely to ever excel beyond that point, we need to make up for that lack of power.
>>39958519Yeaha, multiple scrub hollows kill shinigami.Hell, it was marked in the current invasion arc over 1000 shinigami were killed I think. They are shown to fight in mobs. High seats are monsters but the rest are red shirts in the series.
>>39958220That was the plan, in terms of meta, but we have no real in-character reason to rush off to the Menos Forest to find our 6th seat.I mean, we're going to go grab those swords soon anyway, so he might pop up then.
>>39958519That's kinda pointless when they all just pass out from the pressure alone when a captain-class combatant so much as flexes his reiatsu muscles. Only the top few shinigami actually fight threats to the SS. The rest just do maintenance. That's the nature of souls.
>>39958652training exercise for the seated officers once fix the guns
>>39958400I think he is in the process of getting ripped right about now.He was still a pretty scrappy fuck when he took over as captain. Sometime between then and canon he achieved largehuge.
>>39958485let's go with this >>39958514
>>39958677Hmmm maybe let them watch us fix the guns? Might be a good lesson on gun maintenance for them?
>>39958643exactly, we need to make our red shirts into a useful fighting force.God help us all this will be hard>>39958670And that needs to change at least a little so they can actually DO something
>>39958519to add on to your completely correct point...The Ninth division is supposed to be mainly tasked with the defense of SS. Our main job is to be the main line of defense in the case of intruders and attacking forces like the quincy during the most recent arc. What I want to see in addition to the implementation of some actual goddam military tactics, beyond running at them with sealed swords, is for our grunts to at least learn their goddam zanpakto's names and start fucking training. We need to be/recruit a talented Drill Sergent and whip the entire division into shape while trying to keep our new super grunts from being poached by other divisions looking to snag some talent. When invaders come in thinking all the divisions are the same, thinking that only the captains and LT's are worth their time, thinking that they can breeze through the linemen like cannonfodder. THEY WILL BREAK UPON OUR WALL OF DISCIPLINE AND POWER!!!
>>39958519That's impossibru. The Soul Society is based around the idea of having hundreds of worthless mooks and like 15-20 retardedly strong guys who are all mostly insane.Doesn't really matter how good your tactics are if the guy you are hitting literally cannot be cut by you, and can knock you out by standing within a half mile and thinking really hard about how large his murderboner is.
Just realized Riku's Bankai is a giant fuck you to any quincy she fights. Annuls all their techniques and most of their abilities. Stealing would be hard too i imagine.
>>39958721Oh my god the looks on the enemies faces, they rush in thinking hat the non-seated officers won't stand a chance and basically run into the S.W.A.T. of the soul society, we REALLY fucking need to do this, the best offense is a defense capable of beating the shit out of whatever attacks you.
>>39958519Not how it works, dudeRedshirt level shinigami take on scrub hollows and do all the day-to-day junk that the actual fighters don't have time for. Said actual fighters are the people who A) Hold everything together and B) Take on the things which kill the Redshirts.Because the power disparity is just so huge, there's no real way to equalise the playing field. It's like... Damage reduction, basically. If a guy has an armour value of 5, and all the Redshirts do 3 damage, it doesn't matter how many Redshirts you throw at him, or what they do, really, he's not going to be any worse off for it. Unless they all pool their power somehow, then maybe you can get somewhere.
>>39958816>Mfw we actually outfit them like S.W.A.T teams.....LET'S FUCKIN DO IT!
>>39958746Captain level people will walk over anyone cept another captain. High seats are largely the same.I think part of it is that so scrubs have training and tactics to respond properly to stronger normal hollows and can delay or survive against gillian huge hollows. The guns that have normal bullets may be able to help with that. Also some group kido casting too, maybe.
>>39958721You know only a few Shinigami actually learn their sword's name, right? Most aren't capable of it, in the grand scheme of things. I mean, presumably it has already occurred to the SS to tell their lower ranks to learn their Zanpakto's name, you know? Not that I'm really disagreeing with you, it's good to have well trained scrubs, but it's probably better to make sure our non-scrubs are top-notch, because those are the people who are going to be carrying the team.
>>39958826We arn't going by the hectopeasant system? Aw
>>39958794The bankai affects the user as much as its victim, so it's useless to a quincy anyway. It negates illusions, too... Riku is like a reverse Kubo. It's an important part of what makes this quest so based.
>>39958794Riku's Bankai is a giant fuck you to like 90% of the cast.Which is why it is a closely guarded secret.
>>39958860>>39958816>>39958721Writefaggotry!>SHINIGAMI! WHO THE FUCK ARE WE?!>SIR WE ARE THE NINTH DIVISION SIR!>AND WHAT IS OUR JOB>TO BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF WHATEVER ATTACKS US SIR!
>>39958794We have hollow bits so stealing won't work anyway.
>>39958878I always just assumed that the reason Kubo never drew the redshirts using a shikai is because he didnt want to bother drawing the twenty or so guys running around a page and have to come up with actual unique-ish swords for them all.as for them being unable to learn them I'm pretty sure that for most shinigami, unlike super prodigies like ourselves, it takes years of intense training and meditation to connect with the spirit. from what I've seen most linemen dont put in the effort really, all the guys who make seated or higher ranks train during their downtime beyond the basic crap they might do during drill hours.
>>39958794What I want to know is, what happens if Riku gets within ten feet of Ywach with her Bankai active? He gets cut off from all the Quincy, who carry a part of his soul. What happens?
>>39958721You realize that "modern military tactics" extend to whatever is available in late 19th Century Japan right?
>>39958956...fuuuuuuuuuuck.>>39958963You ever heard of Rome?
>>39958878Really need seat kevel spirital pressure to figure your sword name.Takes a lot of time. Unless someone unlocks a way to get them good, not much will help.1000 year problem soul society has been dealing with
>>39958945>I always just assumed that the reason Kubo never drew the redshirts using a shikai is because he didnt want to bother drawing the twenty or so guys running around a page and have to come up with actual unique-ish swords for them all.Which is why he created this justification in the first place. Non-seated officers don't tend to achieve even shikai. He made them all underpowered because he didn't want to draw unique swords.
>>39958963still better than what we have now. And we're not entirely limited to Japan, we just had an English breakfast after all.
>>39958937I like this even better when I remember they are also the arts and culture divisions.Everyone one is just busy working on the paper or reading and shit and then when shit got real we go full S.W.A.T
>>39958652We know he's there with the blades. And has been surviving there for who knows how long.
>>39958996>WHAT DO YOU MEAN THE NEWSPAPER CLUB IS BEATING BACK THE HORDE OF HOLLOWS BY THEMSELVES?>11TH DIVISION JUST GOT STOMPED BY THOSE THINGS AND YOURE TELLING THE FRUITCAKES IN THE ART CLUBS ARE SAVING OUR ASSES!
>>39959020Yeah I mean, no reason to leave him there. Both for his own safety and if he somehow picks a fight with our hollow friends.
>>39958973....oh god can we make shields that absorb spiritual pressure? so you hit them with a cero and it just fucking dissapates?>>39958996I'm fuckin dying this shit would be so funny!
>>39958721It doesn't work like that. If it did then the gotei 13 would be set up like that. The captains aren't idiots. It's matter of power.
>>39959036oh god we shall become even more legend than we already are.>>39959057the POINT is that we are trying to find ways to work AROUND their lack of power.
>>39959036Again. This is Japan. Based on the Edo-Era. Samurai are expected to have a certain degree of culture, and pretty much everyone looks down on Squad 11 for being barbarians. And the 9th division already has a reputation for being all about combat.Stop being stupid.
>>39958485“Iba, Ichinose,” you order. “Show me exactly what you can do.”Iba nods enthusiastically. “Yes, ma'am!”The clean-cut young man draws his tantō from hhis chest wrappings and releases it, producing an unusually shaped blade. It widens near the far end and curves upon itself like a swallow's tail, producing two sharp points. Along its blade is a pick-lick protrusion, and the blade has no cross guard or adornments.“What does it do?” you ask.“Absolutely nothing, ma'am!” Iba replies with a completely straight face.Rangiku doesn't seem like she can believe what she's hearing, and to be honest you're not sure you disagree with her. “Surely there's more to it than that, Iba!?” she exclaims, totally nonplussed. He shakes his head firmly. “It's got some weird ways you can attack with it, but no. it's a pure melee type.”“Can you do kidō? Hakuda? Anything else?” you press, curious as to what exactly got this man into a high seated position in his previous Division.“Bakudō up through number forty, and hadō through fifty, ma'am,” he replies. Good, seems he has something to offer after all. “I can also use shunpo and I'm working on my hakuda, ma'am.”“Well-rounded,” you muse. “I was starting to worry there for a moment. But why take that approach instead of focusing your efforts?”“I wanna be a Lieutenant some day, ma'am!” Iba barks in response. Rangiku raises her eyebrow. “Why?”“To make my mother proud, ma'am!” Iba barks again. Your own Lieutenant seems like she's about to fall apart laughing, until a sly grin reminds her of her tenuous position of advantage. Oh yes, dear daughter, you most definitely WOULD tell him about the charcoal drawings she made of your old Lieutenant's badge and strapped to her arm all those years ago. She coughs, and settles back down to watch as your new mystery man prepares to show off his abilities. Even Kai takes a break from his practice to watch.(1/2)
>>39959078There is no fucking work around. If they aren't strong enough then guess what? they won't do shit against opponents stronger than them.>>39959081But that would mean they can't fap to the thought of glorious military strategy.
>>39959078Sure sure, just don't expect miracles. The Redshirts will never be anything but Redshirts, but maybe they can be slightly more effective Redshirts. But when Menos, Arrancar, or any equivalent show up, don't send the regular troops out to fight them, because they will get slaughtered.
>>39959102>Oh yes, dear daughter, you most definitely WOULD tell him about the charcoal drawings she made of your old Lieutenant's badge and strapped to her arm all those years ago.Best Daughter

Oh yes, dear daughter, you most definitely WOULD tell him about the charcoal drawings she made of your old Lieutenant's badge and strapped to her arm all those years ago. This has to happen king. It has too.>>39959127Best thing we can do is get soul societied used to guns so they won't be out ranged by the mook quincies when yhwach decides to invade.
>>39959105dumbass, we aren't trying to make them solo arrancarrs, we're trying to make it so that they don't all die by using hit and run tactics to back up the heavy hitters.
>>39959127Yeah. The best we can hope for is maybe them not being completely overrun by the Quincy mooks.
>>39958963Japan's not massively far behind the western powers at this stage anyway.Other anons' points that soul society isn't composed entirely of idiots and if there was an easy way to make everyone powerful it would be done are pretty much on point, I think. We're not going to make all our non-seats fuckstrong like seats or lieutenants. However by using enough guns and fancy tech and shit we should at least be able to make them capable of doing something if they work together. If we knew more about reiatsu we might be able to figure out something new. Specifically I'm wondering about storing it and releasing it. It doesn't matter if we've only got scrubs if they're equipped with rifles shooting bombs containing Riku reiatsu. Or what about delayed spells? Get a bunch of guys chanting spells with really long incantations that can be somehow activated on demand, and our squishy unseated nobody just turned into a squishy wizard.
>>39959156If you are having them back up the heavy hitters then you have already failed. The heavy hitters should focus on the enemies heavy hitters. Our mooks on their mooks.
>>39959105so I guess you're content with the way things are but a bunch of us are trying to find ways to make the redshirts actually useful for something. I'll admit the talk of SWAT teams and military strategy has invoked a sort of enthusiasm in me similar to what I sometimes find in a HFY thread but the goal of training our guys into an actual useful fighting force has merit.if the problem is that they aren't strong enough then we will MAKE them strong enough that some squad tactics could make up the difference. the guns are a good step in that direction.
>>39959102“Shine brightly, Nijigasume!” Ichinose declares, and his sword wavers out of existence... no, it's still there, he's merely bending the light around it. You peer at him more closely as he goes through a few basic motions with his blade. Balanced stance, clean strikes, and that sword's impossible to see so it's hard to tell how long it is. Clever. Even better is when he extends the area of effect to hide his whole body. This sort of ability would have been perfect for the Onmitsukidō.“The hell?” Iba mutters as Ichinose disappears. You nod, satisfied. “I have half a mind to hand him over to Yoruichi.”Finally, a blast lances out from what appears to your eyes to be thin air, slicing one of the training targets cleanly through.“He's bending the light, right?” Rangiku asks you quietly.“Yup. That's it exactly.”>3d10, DC 4.

>>39959199>Japan's not massively far behind the western powers at this stage anyway.Power structure. Soul society is politically run by central 46. They are old guys. Many likely were last living in the shogunate. Tech freeze. Not like Europe where the leaders may be like Wallenstien, Gustuv Alophus, ect. They had constant change last 2000 years.
>>39959302No your not. Your using a thinly veiled excuse to start fapping about GLORIOUS TACTICS AND GUNS. That's not how bleach works. Those scrubshinigami would be killed just from being near the so called stronger hollows. Fuck off and leave. Your kind isn't wanted here.
>>39959308>Still a critNo a crit would be all three NUMBER's passing the DC
>>39959199Not how it works. You can lanch as many spells cast by a weaker shinigami as you want. It won't do shit to the stronger enemies.
>>39959223You casually use the "Oni Headpoke" technique, sending a mild concussive wave of force back over your left shoulder. The attack is more than enough to send Ichinose flying."Cute," you allow with a confident smirk, "but at the point you're at you'll be running up against opponents who can sense your spiritual pressure. You can't hide from me, Fifth Seat.""That's pretty scary, Miss Captain," Ichinose frowns as he dusts himself off. "But you're right, it was foolish to try and play around like that. My apologies.""Don't be such a stiff," Rangiku sighs. "If you don't take time to loosen up every now and then you'll go nuts."Ichinose's frown eases as you rise to your feet, and he nods thoughtfully. His head's still not in the right place after his Captain's death, it seems, but you get the sense he should be fine. >Now, even if the rifles are crap I'm gonna show you how to shoot them.>Kai's gonna teach you all how to shoot, I have business with the Central 46. >Your first lesson will be in maintenance. >>39959406>Your first lesson will be in maintenance. Help me fix these damned things.>Once they're fixed, demonstrate their use and ask for their opinions on the usefulness of these things for the lower ranks
As an aside, I've come up with names for the tentative "Hollow techniques" described at the top of the thread: Cero Tirador (Sharpshooter Cero) and Estigmas Reversión (Reversal Stigmata) for Riku's and Cero Rastrillar (Raking Cero) for Yoruichi's.Thoughts?

>>39959564I can dig it.
>>39959564I like them.>>39959569Not at all? Until Byakuya beat him up, Ichigo was wielding an oversized copy of Sode no Shirayuki in sealed form.
>>39959564Sounds awesome. Sorry about the the military and gun wank fanboys. And their still here. Can you please explain none of his ideas won't stop the mooks from getting slaughtered buy steated officer tier opponents. Maybe they will believe you.
>>39959569yeah, ichigo is practically the definition of mary-sue>>39959599he was still way the fuck more powerful than any low-ranking shinigami because of it.
>>39959520Ok, it's obvious that many stronger enemies are going to be forever out of reach of the mooks. But there's got to be a sweet spot where there was a hollow they would have been able to fight but would be ultimately too strong for them and they get killed. In that situation? Riku nuke. Most shinigami do fine against hollows most of the time. But not all of the time. I don't see why we should accept a single loss in our division when we could give them a trump card to save their ass when they come across a hollow that's a bit too powerful for them to beat.
>>39959520Ichigo had enough spiritual power to fight at LT level right out of the gate, he's a terrible example. But I agree with you, the guy jerking off about guns and military doctrine needs to stop.
>>39959569Not Prior to the SS arc he didnt
>>39959564I like 'em
>>39959564>Cero TiradorI'll admit, due to the nature of borrowed language, this made me think of slingshots instead.I still approve though.
>>39959614They shouldn't be near hollows like that. that shit happens no where near as often as the the dude jerking off about guns and military doctrine makes it sound like it does.
>>39959520>Has jack and shit to do with that's how SS is run and everything to do with how the setting works. Spamming constent retarded inaccurate shit while you wank to the thought of guns and tactics.I can think of a few ideas that would let them be a threat, entirely using in setting resources.
>>39959591Reitsu infused blood. Not sure what it does, but based on the name, I am assuming it works like reactive armour and just outright fucking explodes when it gets hit.
>>39959578If you faint whe you so much as perceive the enemy's presence, and your blows break your own hand/blade, and the reason for this is inborn aptitude rather than a lack of training, it's a problem that can't be fixed. Not the way you're thinking. And yes, captains are bulletproof, even if the bullets are reiatsu-infused, so long as the wielder isn't as strong as the captain.
>>39959607for the last goddamn time, we aren't trying to make them fight lieutenants, we are trying to keep them from dying when facing low-level hollows, or gillians if they are in a large enough group, nothing will get them to lieutenant level, but we can at least make less of them die.>>39959638while i partially agree with you, it doesn't change the fact that anything ballsy enough to actually attack the thirteen court guard was usually strong enough to kill hundreds of red shirts, and did.
>>39959645Did you take into the account that they would die simply by being near them when they flair their full spirit pressure? Or that they wont be able to use what ever you are thinking of due to being to weak to keep up with their opponents?
>>39959638So when our dudes are getting slaughtered by some hollow that's a bit stronger than them, we just say "they shouldn't have been near a hollow like that"? Things happen. Shinigami do get eaten. Why wouldn't we try and give our division an edge?
>>39959680>for the last goddamn time, we aren't trying to make them fight lieutenants, we are trying to keep them from dying when facing low-level hollows, or gillians if they are in a large enough group, nothing will get them to lieutenant level, but we can at least make less of them die.Gillions are Lieutenant level. >>39959730It's called they patrol in groups. Which we already set up.
What if we actually talk to our fellow captains about how they handle their mooks?
>>39959564For the Stigmata ability, how about Stigmata del Pecador? (Stigmata of the Sinner) I find that adding "del [noun]" adds a titular flair to the ability. Kinda like Chad's Left hand of the devil (mano izquierda del diablo)
>>39959811We don't need to because Riku knows how to do things. She was a Lieutenant.
>>39959689Yes cause its ranged, and yes although that is a weakness.Basically, as scaled down Kido canon/ scaled up rifle: http://bleach.wikia.com/wiki/Kid%C5%8D/Appearances_In_Other_MediaA crew served weapon that fires a powerful retsu blast. Does it let them solo LT level oponents? Nope, except for maybe gillians because their mobility sucks. But it does mean that they can at least theoretically support their captains and LTs by shooting something that would actually hurt the enemy if it connects, which it probably won't but hey, maybe dodging it will give the captain/lt an opening.
>>39959564>>39959818I like this.

>>39959841Reiatsu's fuck-you-range is greater than that, I think.
>>39959880Aizen's and Yawtch's is probably, but this wouldn't hurt them anyway.
>>39959841That's retarded. Really retarded. Interfereing in a fight on that level when the captains opponents will be moving beyond the mooks ability to keep up with is more likely to get them killed or hte captain killed.>>39959853They already use tactics you retard dumb fuck. And no shinigami aren't immortal. They can die of old age and disease. And every time the gotoei has been attacked in the manga was by people that were actually had a strong enough group to do so. Modern military tactics do not work in bleach. Now stop shit posting your retard fap ideas.
>>39959564 >>39959818And for Riku's bullet Cero, instead of Cero Tirador (Sharpshooter Cero), how about Cero del arquero (Cero of the Archer)? It's a nod to Riku's past life as a Quincy.

>>39959406You sigh, pulling out each rifle in turn and tossing them to your top seated officers. “Lesson one: proper maintenance. Three rules: never point 'em at anyone unless you're shooting them, don't touch the trigger unless you intend to shoot something, and always treat 'em like they're loaded. Break a rule and you're on kitchen duty for a week. Accidentally shoot someone and you'll spend the rest of the day trying to pry your weapon outta your own ass. Are we clear?”All around you your fellow officers are taken aback by the sudden change of tone: good. You want them to remember that this is serious business. “Let's begin with the action.”Over the next hour you teach Rangiku, Iba, and Ichinose how to operate a falling-block action rifle, then show them how to disassemble them for cleaning and repair. Each rifle's parts are polished by hand with polishing stones, under your careful observation to ensure they aren't polished too aggressively. You show them how to adjust a ladder sight, and how to properly sight in a rifle. At the end of the lesson most of them are shooting decently, apart from Kai whose skills are already beyond the basics. You see that he's likely trying to learn how to gauge the wind and distances, given how he's watching his fellow officers' clothing moving on the breeze and the swaying of the distant pine branches beyond the protective ramparts at the end of the range. “Okay, that's enough,” you finally announce. “You've got the basics down, so now it's all about practice.”Rangiku sighs as she rubs a little gun oil off the tip of her nose. “Jeez, that was frustrating... too many small parts.”You simply shrug. “Just be glad I'm not making you a rifleman for good... your sword and kidō are already more that enough.”>Now then. If it's tried and fails the redshirts will be no worse off than the default canon fodder role they're already set to fill.
>>39959980Honestly, with how rude and mad you are, I see no real reason to listen to you. You clearly aren't even considering the various merits of the ideas. Most captain and LT level fights aren't lighting brawls all the time, there would be times were a crew served weapons could take a shot.

Does anyone know the extent of communications tech in SS at the moment? It'd be useful to have something to keep us in touch with various allies (I'm thinking Yoruichi) so that we don't get e.g. taken out one at a time by Aizen. I know there are hell butterflies, but is there anything say comparable to a mobile phone? SS tech is weird, seems to be ahead of the game in many regards.

>>39959968Though the training has gone well, there's one last hitch: you're short a body.Ninth Division's seated officers are already set up the way Kensei figured best reflected their abilities... your current Seventh Seat wasn't good enough to make the cut for the old Commandos, and they got their asses beaten badly. Factor in the predictable loss of your own due to scalping from other Divisions looking for Lieutenant-level fighters, and Iba's desires to become a Lieutenant at some point... looking within your own Division would be the feel-good choice, but the ideal would be to snap up a promising Academy fighter before anyone else gets the chance. “Rangiku,” you announce, “you and I are going back to school. Nikko, Iba, and Ichinose, you three are to begin training the other Seated officers in riflery. Nikko, you take the lead on this one, youv'e got the experience.”Kai and Iba immediately snap off salutes, while Ichinose's comes off a little slower and sloppier. Seems he's not got the hot blood of the other two? Well, at least it balances out your unit a little that way. You need calm guys too. As you head towards the Academy, Rangiku pipes up at your side. “So what exactly are we looking for?” she asks you thoughtfully. “Not more musclebound thugs I hope?”You merely shrug. “We'll see what we end up with. Like I said, I don't care too much how they look so long as they can do the job.”“Fair point.”Inside the impressive grounds of the Academy are a maze of hallways and dormitories, but one building stands out: the Zanjutsu hall. From the feel of things it's the graduating class that's in there right now, along with old man Ōnabara. >Go in stealthily. >>39960586>Go in stealthily. Knowing they're under observation will change their behavior.See if any of them notice something is off.Although that might be a tall order, because even Kisuke didn't realise what was going on until we outright told him. He was wondering why he was meandering, though, so look for signs of that.
>>39960586“Rangiku,” you mutter. “I'm gonna disappear for a while. You go in there and start sparring with anyone who looks like a decent candidate, and I'll observe.”Your Lieutenant nods quietly. “Right. High spiritual pressure, or good skills?”“Both.”You have Tenkotsuki hide you with a powerful spell, literally snuffing out any trace of your rather impressive reiatsu and wrapping light around your body before following Rangiku into the Zanjutsu hall. This should be interesting. Standing behind the Head Instructor, you whisper softly. “It's Captain Kusajishi. I'm here to scout talent. >>39960895Your Lieutenant picks out a black-haired swordsman with a Zanpakuto he's obviously awakened already, exchanging a quick series of blows. His stance is solid, but he has a tendency to overcommit to attacks that Rangiku punishes with an almost religious zeal. You trained that one well, as it turns out. Next comes an unremarkable, slightly-overweight young man whose sword guard also suggests he has a release state under his belt to compensate for the gut that's hanging out over his belt. The black haired boy stares almost in awe as your daughter thrashes the pudgy young Shinigami. She's even holding back, it's just that his sword skills are so poor that he's got more openings than guard. This is boring.“Ah, you so you have your heart set on Lieutenant Matsumoto, eh?” you say, standing behind the black-haired student who doesn't even turn to look at you. “And she seemed to like you, you lucky dog!”The student nods. “Of course she does. So does everyone else.”“She's really something, isn't she? A lieutenant at her age, with such stunning looks?” you continue, feeling more and more comfortable that this is no crueler than this boy deserves. “She's even popular too, it makes me so jealous sometimes! And that chest... you saw those bazongas, amirite?”The student nods again. “They're amazing... I just wanna bury my face in 'em, you know?”“Yup, my darling little daughter sure is amazing,” you tell him as you let the spell that's been hiding you fade. The boy's face turns white as the haori his eyes have just fallen on, and you're loving the way he's trying to stammer out a response. “And that's why if you so much as LOOK at her disrespectfully, I WILL cut you down like a dog. Are we clear?”You're smiling, but the boy knows better than to be fooled by the outward appearance of kindness. He immediately kneels, and bows so hard you can hear his forehead smack against the tatami mats as he shouts a panicked apology.(1/2)

"I know my sword's name," she reiterates. "Shall I show you?"You nod, your relaxed manners convincing a few of the students in the room that you're not here to cause them any harm. "Please, by all means."The little girl bows respectfully. "Conspire, Sesshōseki."Where a short sword once was, the girl now holds a long, iron-shod club that's as long as she is tall, with a large iron ring at the end in her hands. It's a kanabō, studded with white stone orbs along the far end of its shaft. There was a stone said to be born of the body of a Kitsune in Japanese folklore, that killed everyone who touched it.”“And you think it has something to do with that stone?”“Doubtful,” Tenkotsuki replies, “but I would hope you could see why such a name would be off-putting for one with as many tails as I.”The girl, meanwhile, hefts her weapon. “The stones which stud my Sesshōseki are Sekki stone. They allow me to hurt any opponent I can hit with it, regardless of any difference in reiatsu between us.”“That's incredible,” Rangiku mutters. “It'd counter many if not all kidō attacks as well... that's a little scary.”“I would agree,” the girl replies thoughtfully, “were it not for my low level of reiatsu. I have always been somewhat on the sickly side, you see.”>What's your name, kid?>I want you in my Division. It'd let you hit a Captain like me just as hard as any of these other students, though the overall effect would still be more of a nuisance for me.”“That said... I want you in the Ninth Division. You have a lot of potential if you can learn how to ensure that weapon of yours connects, and you won't find many better teachers than me for how to do that: and under what circumstances you should.”The girl, Mirai, bows politely. “At your discretion, Miss Captain.”You turn to face the head Instructor. “I take it there are no issues with this?”“None that I know of,” he shakes his head. “You know as well as I do how often students get drafted straight out of Academy, and even I must admit Miss Mirai's shikai is unique. I can see why you would recruit her.”“Then it's settled. Mirai, pack your belongings and report to Third Seat Nikko at the Ninth Division barracks. He's the one with the rifle and the funny accent.”The young student bows again before turning towards her dormitory.Rangiku leans to whisper over your shoulder as you both turn to leave. “She seems kinda frail to me, Miss Riku. >>39962672>I would genuinly like to have nel, but I wonder how bad it would fuck with the metaWe turned stark, his loli, landshark, and her fraccion against aizen already. How would grabbing nel fuck with it any worse?>>39962504Now that is a good idea.
>>39962672>I wonder how bad it would fuck with the metaHow cute, he still thinks the canon plot matters! That is not a burger, Captcha. That is a hoagie, and the other is a sausage roll. Neither of those are burgers.
>>39962612Beyond that, if we can store power in something then it won't even be necessary. Have some grunts spend an hour a day pouring reiatsu into ammunition, and we might get a lot of bang for our buck.It might also be handy to look up quincy tools and see how they work. Remember that lightsaber chainsaw? I wonder how long it stays lit if we put reiatsu into it. Clearly not 0 time, as it could be used as an arrow. That means objects keep reiatsu in them under certain conditions, and *that* means we can have a look into designing things so that the reiatsu stays in a very long time.Maybe talk to Kurotsuchi Mayuri? Just a shame Kisuke's no longer here, he's a lot more approachable.
>>39962745That would depend on it being possible to move the stone like that. Just shooting it would be a good idea.
>>39962780At this point we're so far off the canon 'rails' that we're on a different planet entirely
>>39962745...WELP i've got a murderboner now. let's see if we can do this.
Shit, I know what we should do if we want to find out about innovation in the fast paced world of soul management.Who's up for a trip to Valhalla?
What I understand and what I have been pushing is better squad based tactics and training so they know when to run, when to change tactics and when to get backup. The current design of the squads was screwed when the Quincy invasion happened. The Quincy looked to move in squads while lots of the Gotei 13 still zerged around.Besides losses among Shinigami are high, anything to reduce losses in normal missions increases the chances of increasing the over all squad power. Also, Riku likely understands with Japan being open to the world and the changing technology the war related losses might get worse then the 1600's where they had to cull tens of thousands.Massive Hollow feeding grounds. She was also advised of wars coming up. Anything to help her squads survival rate.>>39962780>How cute, he still thinks the canon plot matters!Canon? does it shoot anything interesting?I think the only things in canon are Ywach and Aizen happening. No other details in them.
fuck it I give up. It's going to take a bunch of people getting killed in quest to show that guns and tactics won't do dick to keep weaker shinigami alive against the foes they want it to. Cause they can't be talking about normal hollows. Non officer shinigami's don't constantly get killed by them.
>>39962745Rip Van Shinigami. I'm okay with this.
>>39962780You should totally change the plot so that metagaming would lead us to the worst possible decision in the quest. It would be glorious.
>>39962853>implying he's not already doing that
>>39962837That's not what happened at all during the quincy invasion. The shinigami did not charge them or zerg rush them. What they did was stop, get ready for a fight incase it was hostiles, and got wrecked because Yhwach sent in the Sternritter first and not the mooks. You know the normal quincys that don't have a letter?
>>39962881>That's not what happened at all during the quincy invasion. The shinigami did not charge them or zerg rush them. You know the normal quincys that don't have a letter? They stood out in the open, against bow using Quincies, in an obvious invasion. No attempts at even cover.Once the Sternritter broke through and went to hunt the captains and Lt.s the smaller squads more or less hunted down there own game.
>>39962893Your an idiot that can't actually support his position. You keep saying that non officer shinigami are killed all the time by mook hollows when they aren't. The one example you used of them being killed in mass was the quincy invasion when the sternritter was sent in first specifically to do so and make it easier for their mooks.
>>39962928oi, dumbfuck, see>>39962921
>>39962838The guns really won't make mooks capable of defeating Liutenant level Hollows/Quincy/Anything.What they will do, is make the mooks die less frequently, allowing more of them to become stronger through simply living longer and thus training longer.Really, if we can refine the Rifles to be capable of firing the equivalent to low/mid level Kido, then it will massively improve the combat capability and survivability of low-level shinigami.
>>39962921>They stood out in the open, against bow using Quincies, in an obvious invasion. No attempts at even cover.>Once the Sternritter broke through and went to hunt the captains and Lt.s the smaller squads more or less hunted down there own game. They didn't know who it was. And no the sternritter didn't break through to hunt down captains. They were sent in first to kill as many shinigami's as they could for two reasons. To weaken the shinigami and to attract those who had bankai to them. >>39962947I did see it. That's not what happened at all. If you want I could link the chapter where the invasion happens.
>>39962706We also see them get sent out to fight hollows and get slaughtered by the dozen whenever one of Aizens experiments show up. Or whenever there's a big hollow around (Kenpachi even tells his guys to stay the fuck out of his way and they decide to get stuck in anyway since they're there). They also send mook levels out into the mortal world to deal with hollows without much support (as seen when Isshin decided to pop in on a couple of nobodies). Old man genocide expects the troops to be mobilized and at least act as containment in any engagement short of the battle with all the Espada. Hell in this quest alone mooks have been sent to their death to fulfill their duty of containing threats (the Feng brothers and their subordinates). The rank and file are still soldiers and they're still expected to fight unless a superior tells them to fuck off and get out of the way. When strawberry proved strong enough to beat a 3rd seat in Kenpachi's division they didn't call off the mooks, they kept them out there even though they were all horribly outclassed. Central 46 and Yamamoto don't really seem to care about casualties among the rank and file, the only time they held back mooks in canon was the espada fight because that was a captain level extravaganza with special circumstances.
>>39962928Shreeker killed 2 Shigami. Also, Soi Fongs family had a murderous casualty rate. Anecdotes, admittedly, but you don't really have any contrasting examples.
We should build a cannon. Entire squad doesn't clean it. But fuels it. BANG.
>>39962978Mooks do not die that often. I have no fucking clue why you think that is a thing. Was it the quincy invasion? Cause that was an exception and not the norm. >>39962996None of your examples were normal mook hollows. THey were seated officer tier hollows considering one of them took down a lieutenant. The main reason why They kept them out after ichigo defeated what's his name was so they could sound the alram if they ran into them.>>39963008Sherkier wasn't normal. And we don't know what killed the fengs. It didn't say whether it was weaker hollows are seated officer tier hollows.
>>39963023oh god, I can just imagine>some bigfuck appears doing the whole villain spiel>we snap our finger>Giant storehouse door opens up>reveals massive fucking cannon the size of a large house that is literally glowing with reiatsu>*evil grin*
>>39963050>Sherkier wasn't normal. He was more capable than average, but not that abnormal.
>>39962982>They didn't know who it was. Well, it was after the war declaration, in the first invasion. Quincy would be the expected invaders. Getting some cover is just common sense. Both hollows and Quincy have ranged attacks on there basic move list. Those huge pillars of light were obvious invasion points for the captains to respond too.Of coarse the younger captains were dumb fucks who hit bankai right away, despite knowing that it could be stolen.Once soul society was flipped and over written in the second invasion, it was a moot point, they did not know the land. The Stern Ritter were also hunting captains then too.I am just calling for some more varied tactics and weapon variety for the scrubs, to reduce loss rates. How many does the academy graduate each year? That is roughly the yearly attrition rate.Besides, cannons seem like a waste. Also better to perhaps just work with kido squad on group casting defensive and binding kido's too. There is a way to store Reiryoku for the shinigami now. Maybe have some of that to power low/mid level kido's in combat too.
>>39963069New thread. If you wanna continue arguing about guns and the strategic application of mooks please do so in this old thread.
>>39963050King Fisher also killed several mooks in his time, as he bragged about. We don't often see normal mook hollows fighting mook shinigami because by the time Soul Society was introduced mook Hollows weren't a threat to the protagonist. The power level had moved past the point of them being relevant to what was going on. My point is we've seen shinigami mooks in the field and more often than not they're still fighting shit bigger and scarier than themselves and it makes sense that they can fend off mook hollows fairly well. They sent that incompetent afro dude to fill in for Rukia and expected him to hold his own after all. The mooks are expected to fight shit beyond their ability to handle in just about every instance I can recall mooks being around. If you disagree fine, but maybe you can provide some examples yourself now? Keep in mind the mooks kept attacking Chad even though he literally cleared out waves of them in a single punch every time the got in his way up until he me Shunsui.
>>39963116>strategic application of mooksI swear this argument also cropped up in SoZ once.
>>39963314I think in the end the problem is how power scales in the bleach anime. After 22 episodes he is at Lt. levelHe had a total of ~17 episodes out of a 350 where he was low seated power level.
