I vote >"Whose in danger?!"but only after we look away, kind of hurt but also really impressed...because that was a pretty good line
>>39926810Well you know they are pretty isolationist for the most part and are currently holding a sleeping spell on a ancient red dragon that they can release at anytime to unleash it on the dwarves mountain range. Which they have frequently used as a bargaining chip against them. Other then that you know they have a powerful magical source called the Tree of Light.
>>39926716>This better be goodAngels aren't gods. They have not the foresight, intellect, or perspective that the gods have.Angels are not to be trusted, for they are not perfect but demand that they be treated as such.
>>39926716>I'll hear you out...for now...>OtherMention that we already know about their stance on clerics who still pray to the gods but also we should point out to him that the Church already came by and their messenger gave us a cryptic warning before leaving.
>>39926922>>39926810It's worth mentioning that they used the sleeping dragon to demand the Tree and quite a bit of land from the dwarves.
>>39926983They demanded land and a tree? These are not your average tree-huggers.
>>39927015They're a bunch of rules lawyers, because technically the agreement with the dwarves for the Tree in exchange for dealing with the dragon did not explicitly state that they had to kill it.
>>39927082....I deal with legislation as part of my job, so I can't help but appreciate them for being smart....fucking elves.
>>39927082Not to mention we rarely know what they are capable of, aside of those dragon sleepy spells.
>>39926983>>39927015I'd also like to mention that the plans from last thread to try to awaken the red dragon and use its awakening to force the elves to ally with the dwarves to kill it is pretty stupid, since the elves are the ones who put it to sleep in the first place with magic. Why won't they be able to put it to sleep again, especially since they control the most powerful source of magic on this continent? Also, asking the Green Dragon how to kill dragons? The Green is lazy and a NEET, not fucking retarded. It's obvious that any advice it gives could be used to kill it, and it's not stupid enough to fall for that.
>>39927144We don't want to kill the Green Dragon, though, precisely because it is lazy and NEET.
>>39927144Wait, why wouldn't the Red Dragon be mad at the Elves for knocking it out? And perhaps, more importantly, mad at them for having the audacity to use it as a bargaining chip. Is it an ally of the Elves?
>>39927204No if anything the first thing it'd do is go burn down the elves place then go after the dwarfs
>>39927225Ah. So their biggest threat is literally a suicidal dragon bomb? Damn. This is going to be a far more interesting quest than I anticipated.
>>39927266>Damn. This is going to be a far more interesting quest than I anticipated. This quest is already hurting my head because politicsSEND HELP
>>39927225It waking up will destroy the dwarves first.Remember the location of the red dragon's lair. The elves are simply confident that by the time the red dragon has dug its way out of its lair and laid waste to the dwarves in the process, they can put it back to sleep again because, as said before, they control the continent's greatest source of magic.>>39927182We may not intend to kill it, but it's not going to want to tell us how to kill dragons for obvious reasons.
>I'll hear you out...for now...but>This better be goodnow>Whose in danger?!"Yeesh, no need to get uppity. Anyway, over the last few months the church has created this new policy of "re-educating" those who still worship the dead gods. However, since your brothers bounty on you has been mostly ignored, especially after providing aid against, well, me he's been trying a new tactic. Since your closest allies are the Druids of the forest he's been spending a lot of money and influence to get the church to consider Druids as heretics to. Well as of last night he got his wish and church doctrine changed to include your tree hugging buddies as heretics. So now the church is as we speaking setting up an ambush to destroy your druid buddies with a small battalion of paladins. All because your half brother wants to cut out one of your allies while making it look like it's all the churches doing, and he sits pretty looking innocent. Now here's the deal, I can summon enough undead to stop the paladins before they kill the druids, making you seem neutral in the matter instead of outright attacking the church and your druids get to live another day.">Please do it, save them!>I'll defend them myself!...if I make it in time.>The Druids can handle themselves>What's the catch? >Other
>>39927316>I'll defend them myself!...if I make it in time. But thanks for the offer. Can't accept because it'd make the druids look like real heretics.
>>39927316>What's the catch? The brother is such a cunt.
>>39927316>I'll defend them myself!...if I make it in time. Thanks for the offer, but this should be talked down first.
>>39927316No good enterprise can be built upon a rotten foundation >I'll defend them myself!...if I make it in time.We have a duty to not deal with people who are needlessly selfish, cruel or evil. We have a duty to ourselves and our people.
>>39927316>What's the catch? We clearly need to annex Steelgate.
>>39927316>What's the catch? Also thank you for informing me about my brother. I can spin this.I wonder how would the NEET dragon respond if he learned our bro was getting cults hunted down, including dragon cults?
>>39927316>What's the catch?I want to know what he's planning.Of course we'll reject his offer, but we need to understand what angle he's trying to play. That he can just send a battalion of undead anywhere he damn well wants is useful information already.
>>39927399>I wonder how would the NEET dragon respond if he learned our bro was getting cults hunted down, including dragon cults?GENIOUS
>What's the catch?"No catch really, you get to play dumb, I get to kill some holier then though paladins. Then you can appeal to their, ugh, good natures and explain how they're being manipulated. Word will spread about this manipulation and the church will be weakened. Everyone wins! Well, you and me both win anyway. But if you want to sweeten the deal, we can become allies and I will reveal how the churches good intention will doom us all in celestial war.">No thanks, I'll defend the druids myself!...if I make it in time.>No thanks, just kill the paladins before it's to late.>No thanks, just kill the paladins before it's to late, but make it look like it's a coincidence that your there, we can't have them thinking they're actual heretics.>Hmm, the church has been a thorn in my side for to long, and if what you say is true, I can save more lives with you then them. you have yourself a deal.>Other

>>39927669>No thanks, just kill the paladins before it's to late, but make it look like it's a coincidence that your there, we can't have them thinking they're actual heretics. Then run like hell anyway and try to kill all the undead, convince both parties that as long as the Lich King lives, he's the capital threat, come out of this with both sides as allies. There's only room for one puppetmaster, and it ain't the guy who actually looks like a damn puppet.

>>39928885There is every need to be foul when this kind of stupidity is on display. >>39928910This wouldn't have happened if you hadn't come in with your ignorant ass and tried to make important decisions that are stupid in the face of what has happened in the game so far.
>>39928910dude, fuck off, even if im ignorant to our foundings, all i said was let him be a bandit. exile even said he was bored and depressed. your just being a cowardly asshole , cuase i couldnt completly assure it was risk free. jerk.
>>39928819We kind of need to respond to the fact that the Church has declared the druids not only heretics, but sent a goddamn battalion of paladins into our borders without our permission for the sole purpose of killing our allies.Shouldn't that take priority, since the Church still has the intention of killing the heretics/killing our allies?
>>39928910Yeah trying to execute one of our oldest vassals because you haven't been keeping up: if you're going to quest read the archives.>>39928972Yeah we do I think we're giving it time for
>>39928972yeah, your right. but other then adding on a "4) try to use diplomacy on the church" , i dont see what we could do. other then become a larger military presence.
>>39929020>4) try to use diplomacy on the churchThat's exactly what the lich told us to do, and write-ins are always a valid choice. Just because it's not a pre-written choice doesn't mean we can't do it. Got a post right here suggesting we deal with the Church >>39928678
>>39928678(Sorry for the late reply, I missed this one. The general public doesn't know, you know your brother knows, and that everyone in the church knows, however)
>>39929053im aware, just didnt think exile would let us do all our ideas together. but if so , then i agree hole heartedly.
>>39929080So can we write them a letter about what the fuck they were doing violating our territory? Never mind bringing undead I not it.
>>39929082>just didnt think exile would let us do all our ideas togetherSo you'd rather get stables and a trainer with no horses, rather than begin to deal with the fact our brother is getting a major faction to start killing off one of our major allies?Really?
>>39929082Well if the majority agrees, I'll allow it. It will be a busy day for the princess to be sure.
>>39929080If we can do it I'd definitely back>>39929102
>>39928582Do>>39928666>>39928678This sums it up really.
>>39929120I'm down for it.
>>39928582>>39929134These two, yeah.
>>39929080What's the level of magic that the Church can wield? Does magic in this world allow for things like Zone of Truth or anything like that, which could be used to get the truth magically out of someone?
>>39929015alright, you win.i didnt read all the posts, and i should have. your right. still i didnt, i thought i had a good idea (backed up by QM comments) and suggested it. and you attacked me for it from the start, now you cherry pick through my comments and dissmiss me while cussing me out. you win, internet tough guy, ill stop playing. but for what its worth, and however you rationalise it, your still just an asshole. Been fun exile, later.
I feel we should also bring up that the druids provided a small contingent in service against the undead, so it begs to question why they are being branded as heretics when they are obviously against the necromancer as well.
>>39929153Detect lies is a common magical spell, it was even used earlier in an earlier thread when we confronted so adventurers who questioned are royalty. Other then that though there's no other way to deflect falsehoods. So as long as you don't speak technical lies...
>>39929174Good fucking riddance. We don't need or want ignorant players like this shit.
>>39929174Goodbye, hope you enjoyed the quest while you were here!
>>39929188>why they are being branded as heretics when they are obviously against the necromancer as well. The Church also branded our priest and clerics as heretics even though they were also helping fight against the lich. The Church, and by extension the Angels, obviously see anyone who isn't completely indoctrinated and working for them, as a potential enemy that could be manipulated or suborned by the Demons or Devils.
>>39929174First of all I'm not trying to be a tough guy, I was one of several snobs calling you out for trying to make a very bad decision because you didn't read the archives. You didn't even ask til after the fact. That get people on you in any quest. If you want to contribute read the archive ir ask questions before you start mouthing off.
>>39929233Fucking phone auto correct you get the point
>>39929220yeah, i really like the idea of starting and running a fledgling kingdom. i think you have a great concept and the wrtting on yourpart seems good and well timed . keep it up. ill be on nation later.

>Train Shilvile in swordsmanship>10% tax law>Send a message to the ChurchYou start your morning by writing up a new tax law. Taxing 10% of the wealth of the general population. Your trade adviser Basalton, becomes acting tax collector. Your kingdom is small and poor, with a population of roughly 370. You gain 300 gold a month from taxes. You get your ink and quill and write up a message asking why there were paladins in your territory without permission, and why there was an attack of undead in the area, and wither or not they had anything to do with attracting said undead to the area. After the message is sent you find Shilvile at the bar of the tavern by himself drinking some of the dwarven ale you had brought back from Cravenwood. You insist he begins training to improve his swordsmanship. He insist only if you train in turn with him. Together over the course of a week you play off each other styles and both learn some new things. With his expert training you gain:>Expert SwordmanshipAnd with your help Shilvile improves beyond expert to master. Giving himself the new title of Sword Lord.>Lose 1 bandit lord>Gain 1 Sword Lord
By the end of the week of training, you finally receive word back from the church. How is their response?(Roll 1d20, best of first 3.)

>9 Slight failureDuring the weak of training they church publicly announces druidism as heresy."Dear Princess Lumora of TreelineFirstly I would like to deny the accusation that our presence in your forest was what attracted the undead into your forest. True they attacked your druids as well so it's clearly not their blame. However, as you now know druids are now considered heretics by church decree, such non-holy magics are gate way to that which is un-holy. We have jurisdiction in all the 3 kingdoms except yours for they have nothing to hide, do you? Having harbored heretics, and having undead roaming your forest, regardless wither or not they are connected, something ill is happening within your woods. I will be sending a Holy Inquistor, to investigate this further and to "Re-educate" your druids. Should they refuse, they will be taken into custody. Should she find evidence of more undead in your forest, they shall be purged. Should you refuse him entry to anywhere he deems necessary for investigation, he shall report it back to us, and all the other kingdoms will know your hiding something. We apologize for our intrusion without permission in our last visit. However there are more important matters then formalities, but since we are not unforgiving we will abide by them. May our Inquisitor investigate your kingdom?Sincerely Arch Paladin Meraphim.">Refuse inquisitor>Accept inquisitor>Other?

>>39929825>Other?First, I want to know why druids are considered heretics.aren't druids protectors of the forest? And not worshipping some god?
>>39929825>Accept inquisitor>Other? We will not accept this label of heresy on druids, an order which the gods themselves had accepted. There will be no extradition, there will be no re-education.This is blatant over-reach of the Church, and the other nations will be notified of this.>Send letters to the Druids, Dwarves and the ElvesThis is not acceptable, as the Church is obviously overstepping its bounds.Appeal to the elves that the Church has begun to show its true colors. It consider any magic not its own to be a threat and it's only a matter of time before arcane magics, the non-holy magics, are deemed by the Church to be heresy. Enclose a copy of the Church's response to the Elves. They can see that the Church will come after them next, since the Church included non-holy magics as a gateway to the unholy.
>>39929949Perhaps we should consider some form of appeasement.He/she would be allowed to present the church's grievances to the Druids on why they view them as heresy, allow dialogue to begin. Perhaps it can be settled amicably. And form of burning or executions will of course be met with lethal force.
>>39929825Accept Inquisitor. before we send the message back to the church we should warn the druids and witches and hold a meeting with the head druid and dragon to see what can be done about this inquisitor.

They can see that the Church will come after them next, since the Church included non-holy magics as a gateway to the unholy. It is not long before the elves, quickly followed by elvish pressuring the dwarves give major greivences with the church. The inquisitor does not make it halfway to your castle before he is turned around by his superiors. With the pressure of 3 kingdoms, and not long inter conflict with the clergy, accusations of corruption and bribery flying, the church appeals church doctrine, reinstating only unholy, demonic, or necromantic magics as heresy. Several paladins are sent to serve the elves and dwarves as penance for this transgression. However, you are not sent any, and in fact you hear rumors among your citizens the following week that your kingdom has been forbidden to paladins by the church.>Gain 300 gold in tax (1850 Total)
(Alright folks, this has been a really great thread, and one of the most productive in a while. However it's getting late and I need sleep. Be sure to follow my twitter listed in the op for future threads. Never figured it would get so popular. Anyway I'll go archive this thread within the hour.)
>>39930294Thanks for running Exile! All this politics, god damn those buggers.
>>39930294Alright Exile, thanks for the thread. The Church is going to have to be dealt with eventually. That's probably what the Lich wants. Pitting us against the Church, and weakening the one major bastion of holy magic standing in his way.
>>39930264This is fine. We should avoid the lich bargains again though. This was too convenient for us.>>39930294Thanks for running~
>>39930294aaaand I just got here. Gotta love them timezones.
>>39930264>>39930564So we kinda have to take the initiative with this. We can't wait for the church to pull something else. Can we improve the image of our own church or that of the druids? Let our clerics make branch chapels that feed and teach the poor.Send druids to fix pollution and teach increase the bounties of the forest along the borders between us and the dwarves.
