You and Pytor arrived in the Genesis Township of Salome. While there, some criminals broke free and took hostages. They did this with the help of some people who were using that situation to break into Genesis territory, unseen. You were able to stop both the trespassers, as well as save the hostages. Unfortunately, all of Salome saw you, and you gave Citizen Arthur Rozen your other name. The existence of ‘The Ash Girl’ is in no way a secret now. On the plus side, Molly of the Red Caravan gave you a Travel Pass, as thanks for saving her. Now you, and Pytor, were able to get to the Genesis Township of East Gate. A place where you can get your truck fixed up, and also find the girl that’s supposedly Joy-In-Embers. Another girl like you.Previous Episodes: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Post-Apocalypse%20Magical%20Girl%20QuestTwitter: @echogarroteAs East Gate comes into view, you’ve come to the conclusion that the Truck might resent you.East Gate is a far cry from Salome. It’s based around a large factory that Genesis got partially working again. It’s not clear what it made before, but it does have a smelter, and a couple of presses. So East Gate got into the business of melting down scrap metal, and making things from that. As time went on, and translators slowly figured out more, the goods became better, and the skill set expanded. Now, provided that the car isn’t a complete pile of scrap or missing something vital, East Gate can repair cars to working states.
>>39873690Also, all that metal has improved the general housing of East Gate as well. Houses that look like actual houses, and not scrap sheds, are grouped around the large factory. There’s a communal bathroom that has actual plumbing, and hot showers. There’s a luxury that you’ve never experienced. Every house has its own lawn-farm, with potatoes, peas, tomatoes, and other personal preferences for vegetables. There’s larger cabbage fields behind the houses, for those that don’t want to work in the machine shop. A couple of bunk houses, for those who don’t have their own house yet. There’s the communal houses, for Local Council meetings, social events, and primarily used for a school, and sewing and laundry duty. All in all, a typical Genesis Township. Everyone and everything works, and everybody gets a bed and a meal. Everything put to its ‘fullest potential,’ and all of it under the watchful eye of Genesis Patrollers. You already feel like your non-conformist presence is being resented, and you haven’t gotten out of the truck yet. But, as before, you’ve gotten the weird feeling that the Righteous Truck resents you. It’s made funny noises the whole time getting here, and the seat is starting to feel lumpy. Plus, you’re not quite sure, but there might be a smell. It’s just present enough to make you think you notice it, but never strong enough for you to decide if it’s there or not, when you try to figure it out. It’s been driving you nuts. Also, the car just…well…you like the RV. It’s Pytor’s and it’s slightly yours, and its Home. This truck…it still feels like a truck you stole from some nut jobs. It isn’t your Truck, it’s just A truck. A truck that possibly doesn’t like you driving it.
>>39873709You’re startled out of your thoughts by Pytor tapping on the window. The two of you are parked where all the other cars are, right before the housing area of the township. You get out of the truck, and try not to think that when the truck snags the sleeve of your suit, that it’s not intentional.“So,” Pytor says, as you free yourself. “I will be presenting myself to the Local Council as a Specialist Salvager. See if they want anything in particular from the city.”“And me?” You ask.He shrugs. “Do as you will. I plan to leave here next morning.”The pair of you stop to admire East Gate’s gate. It’s a large, iron, archway gate at the ‘front’ of the Township. It’s not fancy or artistic, just polished black metal bars with EAST GATE in metal letters welded to the top. Since you can easily walk around it, you’re guessing that the gate is more symbolic that useful, and more of a boast to other Townships. ‘We made this, what can YOU do?’ is what the black iron bars scream, as they squeak open. ‘If only you knew’ you think in reply, and you and Pytor walk into town.> Follow Pytor to the Common House and meet with the Local Council> See if you can’t find the Carcel family on your own> Go to the machine shop and ask about fixing the truck

>>39874128You give Pytor a wave as you head towards the factory. It's a busy place, people streaming in and out, pushing carts filled with scrap metal, the sound of welding and cutting of metal. It's very warm just standing outside. You see a man with a clipboard, checking incoming shipments, and you go up to him. After a moment, he turns to look at you."Car repair?" You ask."That way." He says."Thanks." You make your way through the factory, and stop when you reach a room that's covered in automotive parts, and has people working on changing the oil and rotating the tires of a Genesis jeep. You find someone who isn't immediately busy. A woman wiping oil off of her hands. She looks at you."I've got a truck that needs to be looked at." You say, taking out a small stack of scrip to show her that you can pay. She nods. "It's in the lot? Does it work?"You nod. "Drove here from Salome. Needs some long overdue maintenance, it's also making some funny noises.""They usually do." She says. And she's trying to make it look like she's totally uninterested in you. Actually, he promised to treat you no differently than he would treat any else. Either way, you're annoyed. Still, the Sharpshooter looks more bored than nervous. So maybe Rozen just has her watching Lupa and Pytor. It's not uncommon for Visitors and Merchants deep into Genesis to be under scrutiny.Gah. The sooner you're done with this, the better, because that means you can leave. The mechanic looks over the truck, takes a peek under the hood, and has you start the engine and drive and break a little. So. Why is Joy-In-Ember such a bitch? Joy-In-Ashes seems so... tame next to her. Also her taking over completely? Not cool.

"I'm going to go see if I can lift a truck. Since, SOMEONE apparently says I can't drink.""If you go out there, Rozen's people are going to see you. Embers grumbles."Maybe they thought she'd be safer here." You say."Safe is BORING. Genesis is BORING. It's work work work, and then sing an anthem, and then MORE work. All the little times that Emily could have DONE shit, what does she do? Hide behind Genesis' flag and HER parents. You know how many times she's chickened out on even kissing? I keep SCREAMING at her that we need to go out a FEEL human flesh on ours...and she just gets ill at the thought, and buries her head in bicycle parts." She snarls. "Yeah. >>39886113>>39886121>>39886161Okay, so...you're not 100% sure of what these things are made of. If you made an effort though, Plath could possibly notice, and realize that you're not as asleep as he thinks you are.The way your hands are positioned, you could try to summon your knife, and cut yourself free...but it'd be awkward, and you'd almost certainly cut yourself doing it.Now...cutting Embers' bonds...maybe that's an option. However, there's a few problems.1) You'd need Ember's help and she's a blubbering mess.2) Plath might notice.3) Once Embers is free...well, then things will get really complicated exceedingly quickly and you're stuck on the floor of a moving van, tied up, with a bag over your head. However, you can't see where you are, you don't know what these bindings are made of, you're in a moving vehicle, and (again, because this bears repeating) you'd be doing this blind. That's the kind of teleportation story that becomes warning stories for other teleports. So, your options all really suck.> Force yourself free with muscle and effort.> Cut yourself free, and to hell with the cost> Try to free Embers> Ash dodge free
