Your name is Alice Zief, Ars Magus technician and mother of Tsubaki Zief. You still can't help but giggle when you think about it. It's strange, and you're only her adoptive mother, but that she asked to call you that and you couldn't help but feel so proud and happy. It's been a few months since then, and the day you realized that she's officially spent more time calling you 'Mother' than 'Miss Zief' you practically had a cuteness meltdown! It's strange to think about, but you can't help but think there's no better thing to do than to raise her right. You know abstractly that having children is supposed to change people, but saying that just doesn't do it justice. Seeing understanding light up in her eyes when you finish another lesson about circuits, the satisfied expression after a good meal, and the absolute trust she has in you when you tuck her into bed it's...You can't describe it. You can't help but feel proud, and like she's the most important thing in the world. You turn the ars magus component you've been working on over in your hands, carefully examining it, even as you think some more about how lucky you are to have Tsubaki. You're still a little guilty about having taken her with you from the park, but you can't ever imagine regretting it. If it came down to it, you'd do it again in a heartbeat. Satisfied with your work, you tap the button on the bottom. And a dark purple butterfly flutters out. It's nearly black, making it look more like a shadow than anything else. Which, for what it's supposed to be makes sense you suppose. Spy bugs aren't exactly supposed to attract attention, after all. Still, you can't think of a lot of legitimate reasons for Kimihiro to have something like this. He pays well, but he's somehow more mysterious then you like to think about. And his mismatched eyes always seem rather observant, to the point where it feels like he knows more about you than you do.
>>39101119Still, your commission for the day is completed. Walking back through his strange house, you find your employer resting on a Victorian chaise lounge, red velvet looking like blood next to skin so pale it's almost unnatural. He's reading through a handful letters, paper ones at that, before flicking them through the air to drift down in lazy spirals."Shinatsu." You blink. "There's a particularly treacherous viper coming to Kagutsuchi in the next week." His blue eye meets yours as the other hides behind the glint of his monocle. "You may want to visit Shinatsu. I have an associate there who would appreciate your expertise for a brief consultation. I'd recommend taking your daughter with you. Snakes have a wretched tendency to bite children." His supply of paper exhausted, he reclines back in the chair again, pipe smoke already filling the air as he lights up. "But should you desire a different locale, I have no doubt that you could find employment there as well." >So, Shinatsu?>Does he know anything about a different city? (Suggest a Destination)>You'll be staying here, thank you very much.>Any other questions for the Shopkeeper?
>>39101128So this quest is up.>So, Shinatsu?
>>39101165>>39101244>>39101252>>39101257Pretty unanimous, huh?I'm kind of surprised no one had any questions for him and you're just rolling with it. But alright then...
So do we still sleep in the same bed as Tsubaki? Are be both naked when we do?Because both of those things should be true.
>>39101128"So, Shinatsu?" Kimihiro's always been rather strange, and is probably more fond of metaphors and word play than any normal person really should be, but he's never really given you a reason to distrust him. He pays well, doesn't bother you outside of work, and gave you the location of a really good oden stand being run by some beastkin. "An aggravating city that is far too hot and far too humid." He almost growls, before calming himself. "But setting aside the environs, it's rife with a variety of other issues. The beastkin there experience a degree of racism that is outright..." He blanches. "Well, it's hardly a city I'd term 'progressive'. Never mind that the beastkin were born because to fight an enemy of humanity, to treat them as lesser for a paltry few genetic quirks is..." He sighs, and a long streamer of smoke joins another already drifting through the air."Politics aside, there's several fonts of water and a surprising amount of undeveloped real estate there. That catch is that those 'undeveloped' areas are inhabited by quite a few people forced down there by unpleasant circumstances. And now a certain group is interested in the land due to the discovery of natural resources below it. Which is where you come in..." And here the man's smile takes on an almost serene look. "Several inhabitants have scraped together enough to hire an engineer and construct the beginnings of a mine. It'll be hard and take many years, but the situation should start to become more palatable there.Of course, the outsiders likely wouldn't take kindly to some engineer helping the downtrodden and look for circumstances to... discover an accident." His smile takes on an unusual brightness. "I have a feeling that you will find yourself quite immune to such silly things.">The situation sounds a little hot for you...>Violence, science, and righteousness. You like this plan.>Add something to it?>Ask some questions (specify)
>>39101489Yep. On the nights you stay late at the curio shop working, Tsubaki stays up late waiting for you. Or you bring her up to the curio shop if you think you'll be up there late and she'll fall asleep against your side.

>>39101976>Violence, science, and righteousness. You like this plan.Think of all the new clothes for Tsubaki to try on! Hot and humid means loose and revealing!
So anyone know a person described as a snake in the thing this is based on??
>>39102316IC, you have no idea who Kimihiro's referring to.But he sounds like a massive dick.
>>39101976You grin. The opportunity to do some engineering and help people out is something you don't get to do every day. You're not what you'd call hero. You don't go looking for trouble, and you wouldn't consider yourself a violent type either. But if you have the chance to, why not go for it?Kimihiro just smiles, and tosses you an envelope. Inside are some airship tickets. To Shinatsu. It's a little presumptive, but you'll forgive him this you think. Airship tickets aren't exactly cheap.Leaving the shop, you realize you have a very important decision to make. You'll be leaving Kagutsuchi and taking Tsubaki with you. It's a little early, but it'll be at least a little dangerous in Shinatsu. You don't like to think about the idea of your little girl in harm's way, not that you'll be taking risks with her. But maybe you should prepare a little insurance. She's very nearly done with all the lanterns, so putting together a functioning armagus should be pretty simple. The only question is what kind of armagus she wants to assemble. >Staff-Type. Not nearly as versatile as the Book-Type, but quicker to charge and easier to use.>Anti-Ars Magus Pistol. >>39103081>Staff-Type. Not nearly as versatile as the Book-Type, but quicker to charge and easier to use.Similar enough to Alice's style for teaching her, but easy enough for someone who's a beginner at Ars to use.
>>39103081>Staff-Type. Not nearly as versatile as the Book-Type, but quicker to charge and easier to use.Mostly because innuendo.
>>39103118I think I'm this one.Changing my vote to Staff, because on second thought, we don't nearly have enough pure casters in Blazblue. If you're already writing, ten don't bother changing it, though.
>>39103081>Staff-Type. Not nearly as versatile as the Book-Type, but quicker to charge and easier to use.
>>39103081"Hmm..." The girl squints as she turn over the piece. It's a bright red gem, a good focus for the ars beams to be channeled through and made into a proper effect. You'd prefer it she went for the multifaceted yellow one instead, rather than the perfect sphere she's currently holding. It'd be a little more limited, but a little simpler at the same time.Still, this is her decision. You're just there to make sure all the parts are of a high quality and share a certain degree of compatibility. While Tsubaki is busily picking through the circuits, you're going over a few custom additions in your head. Tsubaki is good, and your training sessions together have shown off that while she's still young, a sword has been placed in her hands for many years. While you're grateful she has some experience, you still can't help but want to punch the Lord Yayoi should you ever meet the man in real life. You simplify one, removing a rather exotic effect for a simpler one. You doubt that she'll ever have the need to conduct that kind of long range sniping anyway. You're giving her the ability to defend herself, not make strikes beyond visual range. Still, you suppose you could come up with a few special tricks...>Expansion-Cannon: A rapidly expanding 'cannon'. For when subtlety needs to go out the window and you need a wall of laser>Ray-Wing: A primitive flight Ars that's more of a floating trick with some engines strapped on.>Chain-Bind: A simple binding Ars refined into a more aggressive version that can be used in combat>Something Else (write in)

>>39103852>>Chain-Bind: A simple binding Ars refined into a more aggressive version that can be used in combat
>>39103852>Something Else (write in)>Prism-Barrier: A modified defensive Ars that primarily works as a flat surface that can deflect attacks. But for offensive purposes, it's specially made to redirect attacks that Tsubaki fires upon it, giving her the ability to shoot behind and over cover.Trickshot Ars that doubles as a defensive shield ability. Tsubaki is protected AND can still hold herself in a fight, if needed.Or like Jr.'s Storm Waltz, in Xenosaga.
>>39103852Chain-Bind.Rather then the classic binding ars that relies on 'sheets' or 'waves' of forces to subdue or push back a target, this makes use of rapidly conjured chains to physically anchor the target to their surroundings. The tension can even be ratcheted up to deal with more aggressive subjects. You designate a safety for the spell though. This is actually the kind of spell that could bypass the diffusion ars used by many as armor since instead of a striking it pulls. Tsubaki shouldn't need to raise the strength very high, but if she does accidentally... It'd be best if she didn't completely tear a living person apart. ... Somehow, you're not bothered by the idea of doing it yourself. A strange thing to notice. You know you can kill. You wonder just who you were before climbing out of the mists.Either way, the Ars is done. And Tsubaki is about done with her part selection. You'd best head home. You'll put it together with her tonight, and be ready to leave tomorrow. ...Blearily, you struggle to bring your eyes into focus. Pinging Al-Azif reveals the time to be very late. Or rather, very early at this point. Did you fall asleep? Your eyes drift over to the table where Tsubaki is hunched over the rod. The now completed rod. Sleek silver and red, with the crimson gem hooked into place with an arc of control circuits. You smile, proud of her accomplishment as you give it a brief inspection and check it's internal database.'Love Spark', huh? It's kind of cute. The name you'd expect to hear in kid's TV show. You still wonder where she got the name though. You don't exactly have a set down here.>Double-check Love Spark. Just to make sure everything's OK.>Put Tsubaki to bed. >>39104529>... Is that someone at the door?We should really put a giant death laser into it at a later date.
>>39104529>... Is that someone at the door?>'Love Spark'Should we also teach her the fine art of "borrowing", maybe?
>>39104712Sure, I mean what could possibly go wrong?

>>39104719Shutup you dumb fairy, go back to freezing frogs or whatever~I know anon, I know. Even though a brat Tsubaki could be fun, but with our Alice around it's practically impossible for her to grow up into anything other than a refined, mature woman
>>39104877>Go back>Searching them outClearly you don't know the frog freezing meta. Educate yourself, pleb.
>>39104915Wait, that doesn't seem right. Did I mix something up?You have no idea how long I've been sitting on those images.
>>39104923Don't worry, you're still the strongest fairy around here
>>39104529What was... ?You set the rod back down at the table, and turn to face the door. Theoretically, it's perfectly safe. A legion of Kaka live in the village, and the idea of a robber trying hit a place so close to the seithr line is absurd. One hand rests on Al-Azif as you slowly step towards the door. Slowly and carefully, you make your way towards the door. An ars charges in one hand, a Heavy Grab reinforced with anti-gravitics and lines of force strong enough to choke a man.You place a hand on the door knob.Blood thunders in your ears, rushing loud in the dead silence of the night. And then-Nothing. Beyond the open door is no one at all. You can't help but sigh with relief and chuckle a little. It was probably a squirrel or something. Still, it definitely felt like something was there for a second. Something big and-space itself tears apart, rippling like torn sheets in the breeze. The scent of blood reaches you and practically chokes with it's thickness. Ozone curdles the air as the crackling sound of arcing electricity echoes down the street. It gets louder and louder until-Pop!It's almost comical.Whatever happened before is over and lying face down in the street in her underwear is..."Professor?"A surly moan burbles it's way past the cobble of the street, before silence continues. You like to think that you usually know what's going on, but this is a little bit beyond what you'd consider the normal scope of things. [?]
>>39105165[X] Check her for injuries, then get her inside.
>>39105165>>39105195I'll second this, not much else we can do until we figure out what's up.
>>39105165Upon initial inspection, everything seems... fine? She's not even bruised from landing on the cobbles. It's when you pick her up to take her inside that you notice the smell. Alocohol. She absolutely reeks of alcohol. And judging by how potent the smell is, probably something capable of peeling paint off the walls. To be perfectly honest, you're pretty surprised. Kokonoe didn't really strike you as an alcoholic. Maybe the type to bury pain in sweets, but drink? That's a little unusual. So, a rip in time and space, alcohol, and a cat-girl physics professor. It sounds like the opening line to a weird joke or a really bad comic book. You just end up deciding to just bed her down in a guest room, tall glass of water standing by on a night-stand for the inevitable morning hangover. It strikes you as you're laying on the bed though, just how oddly small the professor really is. Awake, she has a presence, a force of personality driven by a massive intellect. Asleep, she's surprisingly tiny. Like a marionette with it's strings cut. Then golden eyes that are practically ringed in blood slam open and a shockingly powerful grip squeezes your wrist tight enough to force the bones to rub together."What the hell are you?"[?]

>>39105554"Alice Zief, an Ars Magus technician." You stare down bloodshot eyes that look like they could cut obsidian. Her grip tightens again, and you grit your teeth but don't break eye contact."I didn't ask who the fuck you think you are." Golden orbs practically glow, catching reflected light in the gloom of the dark room. "I asked what the hell you are." Thin lines of blue light begin to carve themselves into the air, shaping tiny runes. You respond with your own, cranking out pin-point needle firing ars and suspending them around you.In seconds, the room is bright as day, the light of dozens of Ars casting the room in pale blue. You stare at each other for a long minute. Neither one of you wants to back down on this. The professor thinks you're holding back answers, and you damn well will defend yourself if she thinks violence is going to wring them out of you. "Mother are you-?" Tsubaki's head pokes around the edge of the door, and then almost immediately retracts with a shout. "I-I'm sorry Mother I didn't know you had company!" She sputters from behind the wall. "I'll just... have a good night you two!" For an instant you and the professor are frozen. And then it clicks. Standing so close. Hanging onto each other tightly. Kokonoe in her underwear. And the pair of you jump apart fast enough to break the sound barrier. The mortification in the room is heavy enough to to drown in. Kokonoe's speechless, and you honestly aren't much better. It's a long, sputtering moment before the pair of you have anything resembling enough dignity to hold a conversation. >Go to bed. >>39105988Seconding.That last scene might have been a bit too traumatizing for poor little Tsubaki-chan.
Let me guess.Kokonoe checked the DNA of the blood sample she got from Alice, and found out that she's 50% similar to her own.Distraught and bewildered by this development, she proceeds to get herself smashed at a nearby bar and warps herself to the Kaka Village to interrogate the person in question?
>>39106090Close enough. And then Tsubaki thought she was walking in on lewds. So very, very lewds. A question you guys are going to want to ask later is where Tsubaki got the inspiration for 'Love Spark'. That's going to be a fun trip.
Aaaand I think I'm going to have to cut it here folks. Something come up at work, and I'll have to go in early this afternoon for it. Which means I'll have to go to sleep now, if I want to have any hope of being functional for it. Apologies for cutting it short right where things were getting interesting, but I think dedicating a whole thread to conversation fun with Kokonoe would be better than just having to cut off in the middle of it. ... Incidentally, Drunk Mad Scientist out of left field wasn't too out there, was it?
>>39106486alright looking forward to next thread then.
>>39106486Thanks for running Shad. And given the circumstances of who we are, it's not too surprising that Kokonoe would go on a bender like that.

>>39106486Thanks for running dude, great thread as always. As for drunk Kokonoe, to be honest my first thought was something among the lines of>gag reels? in my taking it easy: the quest?but yeah, as the anons above said it's a perfectly normal reaction in such circumstances. Kinda surprised she didn't immediately say anything about our cute daughter appearance though.
