Forging a weapon equal to Khorne’s own is no easy feat. Or, it would be if you didn’t have the aid of another Chaos God. Tzeentch, forever known to you as Ignitrix, has offered to aid you in the creation of such a blade as a reward for aiding her ascension to her own throne. She only requires two items to do so: The Corpse of a Leviathan and an Item of Value from the Materium. Though the latter eludes you for the moment you know full well where to find the former. The Lake of Slaughter. It was the site of your first battle and where you earned the materials for your first weapon and pauldrons. Now it seems you’ll be returning there yet again. Though this time your quarry is something far greater than a simple Blood Dragon. Massive beings of brass and bone, the Leviathans that inhabit the Lake are supposedly from a time when Khorne himself was but an inkling in the Warp. Even a single tooth from such a beast would be enough to create a truly fearsome weapon. An entire corpse? It’s no wonder Ignitrix needs it.But, as you well know, slaying such a creature will not be an easy task. Titanic in size, sinews like iron cables, and bones with the consistency of steel, the Leviathans are the master of the lake for a reason. You’ve never even heard of one being slain except by another of its kin. What chance do you, a single Bloodthirster, have against such a foe?Ha. Who are you kidding. You’re Cinder. You’ll be having calamari in no time.Welcome to Khornette Quest.

Like all things 40k, the gauntlet runs from “worshiping the printed word” to “over the top silliness.” Most of the time it’s somewhere in between. Others it swerves hard to one side and/or breaks this model entirely. You’ve been warned in advance.Alternatively, if you’re not at all familiar with canon or want more details on something, just ask!All rolls go against a specified characteristic in the style of Black Crusade. You’ll want to roll under the characteristic value in order to pass the check. The more degrees of success (every multiple of 10 counts as 1), the more awesome of a result. A 1 is a guaranteed success, and a 100 is a guaranteed failure. Best of three rolls when it’s called for, with a 1 or a 100 instantly taking precedence. If multiple characteristics are being rolled for each 1d100 counts for its respective test. Any rolls prior to the call for one and those not linking said post will be ignored.IMPORTANT: Your Infamy Burning abilities have been cut off. You only get the one reroll a session and that’s it. Pray to the Dice Gods for low rolls.Excessive meta/whining/waifu’ing/etc goes to another thread. Blatant Samefaggotry and overly lewd write-ins will be ignored. One thread to go after this? We'll see what happens.
The transition from Tzeentch’s domain to the border of Khorne’s happens in an instant. As you get your bearings you’re immediately set upon by several Bloodletters and their Flesh Hound companions. Their screams of sorcery are quickly silenced as you impose upon them your full Khornate wraith. Only a fool would challenge a Bloodthirster, let alone accuse one of heresy, and you make sure they know it.Now sporting several new skulls and a pelt, you start to run towards the Lake of Slaughter. Along the way you realize that something’s weighing you down. You should be much faster than this. After coming to a stop, you give yourself a onceover. The reason for the discrepancy in your speed becomes obvious.Somewhere between seeing off Ignitrix and arriving here you’ve become encased in a layer of brass armor. Rather, it’s replaced your usual cloth trappings with something far most substantial. The black-trimmed metal plates give way to your crimson skin seamlessly. For all intents and purposes they might as well be one in the same. Your chiseled midriff is still exposed to the air, as is a majority of your arms and legs. Combined with the new, jet-black crest that adorns your head and you certainly look the part of an Avatar of War.But the armor isn’t what’s really slowing you down. It’s the set of wings that you’ve somehow missed growing out of your mid-back. Large and bat like in design, the red and black leather has replaced your usual dorsal spines and spikes. A few moments of concentration, however, sees the wings reforming into their former deadly designs. (cont)

Well, rock. “Do you know who *I* am?”“THIS IS NOT A GAME OF ‘WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU,’” you blast back.“Indeed it’s not, Warmistress Cinder.”You come to a stop within arm’s reach of him. Not because you have any less of a desire to kill him for sneaking up on you, but because anyone who knows who you are and isn’t running deserves to live for at least 8 seconds longer.“What is you want, maggot? A quick death?” You place a claw against his throat for emphasis. “Because that I can do. Or is it something that actually is worth wasting my time further?”Even though you’re looming over him and a twitch away from removing his head from his neck the Bloodletter is remarkably calm. You come to realize that he’s not putting up a fight out of respect, not fear. Or so you gather from the way he looks at you, anyways.“As one of many spawned from the Blood Pits formed in the wake of your Crusade, I thought it only fitting to pay tribute before descending upon the mortal realm.”So your underlings are doing well in the Calixis Sector then. >>38957497His heart is in the right place. The problem is you’ve never needed fanfare. It’s not your style. You communicate as such as you withdraw your hand from his throat.“However,” you add. “You may feel free to trail behind me and chronicle that which is worthy of retelling. For the time being anyways.”The Bloodletter bows his head in reverence. “You honor me, Warmistress.”“Got a name?”“Zerimar.”“Well Zerimar, I hope you can keep up.”With that your back spines explode back into their wing configuration. All it takes is a single flap of them to send you soaring into the air and speeding towards the Lake of Slaughter once more. Surprisingly the act of flying itself comes naturally to you. Every movement you make from your head down to the tip of your tail is deliberate and contributes to your aerodynamic control. In a way it reminds you of your runs of old - it’s freeing. It doesn’t take long for you to reach the shores of the blood lake. Far in the distance you see the sheer precipice marked with waterfalls of gore that you once wrestled a Dragon or two upon. Behind you you see Zerimar just now coming into view. As you’re still judging how best to lure out a Leviathan, he catches up in due time.“More Dragons, Warmistress?” he asks.> Tell him about the plan to kill a Leviathan> “Something like that.”> “No but they’d be a good warmup for you.”> Write in

>>38957769“Something like that,” you reply. It’s a short and curt response but Zerimar doesn’t seem to mind. He simply bows his head and waits for you to act....which is something you’re still deciding on yourself as you stand and watch the crimson waves fight each other for supremacy. You have two problems in front of you. First is getting a Leviathan to the surface and sufficiently engaged. You can’t afford to let it just scamper off the moment it becomes too wound. Second is actually wounding it. Even the smallest of titans is going to be far beyond your size class. Sure, in time you could take it down yourself, but one wrong move could prove fatal. More so than usual, anyways.Perhaps you can put Zerimar to use after all?> Have him go round up Tuska from the shadows of the Brass Fortress> See what he can round up himself without any guidance> You don’t need help. >>38958052“Zerimar?”“Yes Warmistress?”“Are you at all familiar with Tuska the Daemon-Killa?”Although you haven’t turned away from the Lake of Slaughter you can practically feel the confusion on the Bloodletter’s face. “He is the Ork Warboss that we slaughter day after day in the shadow of the Brass Fortress. Why?”You turn your head slightly, just enough to bring him into view. “Because you’re going to go get him, whatever Boyz he has left standing today, and those Bloodletter Generals that will listen to come here.”“I would be honored, Warmistress. But what is the purpose of doing so?”“A leviathan,” you say, turning back to the lake. “I’m going to kill one. >>38958514If you’re going to be the first to kill a Leviathan you’re going to make sure no one ever tops such a feat. You’re going to slay every Blood Dragon you can get your claws on to form the largest ball of bait possible. The hope being that such a lure will be enough to bring out the most ancient of the lake-dwelling monsters. As such you begin carving a swath of blood across the shores and cliff faces bordering the Lake of Slaughter. No Blood Dragon, no matter its size, its attempts to the contrary, or whether it’s currently engaged with another combatant, is spared your wrath. You are, as you always have been, a living embodiment of pure death and bloodlust. It’s almost like swimming - each stroke of your claws just adds to the carnage pile slowly amassing behind you. By the time you make it halfway around the impossibly massive lake you’re already beginning to draw attention. Bloodthirsters and Bloodletters alike that were formerly battling Blood Beasts themselves are now stopping and watching your progress. Some even begin herding their prey into tight balls in your path for you to cleave through. And it’s a good thing too, since the Blood Dragons are catching on and beginning to flee en masse from their extinction. In all, you finally come back to where you started with a grand total of four thousand, ninety-six corpses.Standing before the immense pile of blood, bone, and brass, you let out a roar that echoes across the Lake of Slaughter. For a single moment you swear that the surface even goes still. Then a collective cheer of approval resounds back from those daemons who are still present. You try not to let your tail wag from side to side in glee at being lauded and being coated in viscera.(cont)

>>38961144You’ve been hit by Grey Knights, Wraithknights, and Battle Barges. You’ve been taunted by mortal and daemon alike. Yet nothing has enraged you as much as this Leviathan has with that single attack. “ALL OF YOU,” you bellow. “EITHER KILL THIS THING DEAD OR ASSUME THE POSITION. I’M GOING TO BE HAVING SKULLS AND CALAMARI FOR DINNER.”Then you leap at the nearest tentacle. Even though it’s thick as a macrocannon shell, you lay into it with primal anger. You’re not even sure if you stop screaming in rage as you hack again and again at the limb. You have to consciously keep yourself from submerging into mindless bloodlust. So savage is your attack that the beast roars in anguish and begins flailing in agony. But not before you sever the tentacle completely. Once that’s done you duck and dodge the remaining tentacles that swipe at you. Each pass causes a blast of wind that nearly knocks you to the ground. You really, REALLY don’t want to get hit by one again. Your fellow daemons, those that joined you from around the lake, are not doing as well. They’ve managed to sever a tentacle themselves, bringing the total to 8, but they’re suffering heavy losses. You’re definitely not going to be wasting an opening like the one you’ve created by helping them out. Instead, you opt to heft the severed tentacle like a massive whip. It’s unwieldy, rightly so, but makes a satisfying, wet crunch as it impacts against the Leviathan’s head. Toxic blood splatters across everything in the immediate area as a result. Those not of at least Bloodthirster status (or sporting similar armor) caught in the deluge begin screaming in terror as their flesh starts to boil away. >>38962594Of course, the easiest way past its maw is going to be by tunneling through the very sinew and bone. It takes some doing but soon you open up a hole in the colossus’ neck and begin clawing your way towards the brain. The heat of the muscle and flesh surrounding you is enormous, almost scaldingly so even to a daemon like you. But you tough it out (taking -20 wounds in the process), tearing your way forward until finally you hit the underside of the skull. From there all it takes it a quick bore for you to be released into the spacious brain cavity. All you have to do is destroy the organ and then you can get back to Ignitrix. But how should you do that? You have a few ways in mind…> Punch it so hard it goes flying out of the Leviathan’s head> Slice the stem with your claws. >>38962894Unfortunately most of your ideas involve destroying the skull in the process of venting your rage. It’s a good thing you can see past the bloodhaze and focus on the task at hand. That task being wrapping up the grey matter before you with your warp chains. Once that’s done you tighten the chains and elicit a satisfying cry from the Leviathan at large. Then you rip it free of the brain stem and crush it in one single motion. Like a wet napkin the body collapses. You end up bouncing around in the now empty skull relatively unharmed. Once the “world” comes to a stop you retrace your steps and emerge from the fallen fish. As soon as you do a cheer goes up.“AND THERE SHE IS! YOUR WARMISTRESS AND SAVIOR, CINDER!”You have to admit, Zerimar has a rather impressive set of lungs. Of course, he’s also only shouting at about three Bloodthirsters and a Bloodletter. But it’s something at least. > Also mention whether or not you want Zerimar to come along> Spare the speech and be on your way after thanking them> Fire up those social rolls because you’re gunna gloat> Start speaking but “accidentally” shatter the crystal (leaves Zerimar behind)

Sucks to be him. You’re leaving. Now.As soon as the blue crystal shatters in your palms you feel a wrenching sensation in your stomach. Then the Leviathan, Zerimar, and you are outside of Ignitrix’s house. Though it seems she’s done a little redecorating. There’s now a very impressive forge outside being fed pure blue magma from the void itself.“Where are…” starts Zerimar.“Stay quiet. Don’t ask question. Don’t touch anything.”“A-As you wish, Warmistress….”“Oh let him have his fun,” echos out Ignitrix’s voice as she exits her home. “Shiela’s out back with Skippy. You guess that happens when someone, daemon or not, comes face to face with a Chaos God that’s not their patron. “Well, go on then Zerimar. I’ll collect you later.”Once he’s departed around the side of the building, Ignitrix whistles and steps past you to examine the corpse. “What did you do, find the biggest one and... It’s only then that Tzeentch speaks the words of power that properly convert the two main ingredients into a more manageable form. In the end you produce a blade of such quality that Slaanesh might weep at how perfect it is. Something to taunt that purple pansy about later, you suppose. But for now…“Go on then,” prompts Ignitrix. “Give it a practice swing. Preferably not at anything living though. Not here, anyways”As you take up the blade it instantly reforms into a set of claws. Then, with a little concentration, it shifts to become a falchion wreathed in pure chaotic energy. No matter what melee weapon you think of it becomes. Even a shield, should you need it. “For once you took into account your tendency to overswing,” remarks Wormbag. “That or it’s compensating for your lack of skill.”You pause twirling your spear for a moment and ask, “Alright. Deal with it.”Ignitrix stifles a laugh. “When you two are done bickering, I do need to pull Cinder away for a chat.”Both you and Wormbag huff in annoyance at the same time. Then you go with the Chaos God back into her abode. Once inside she conjures up several windows into reality.“Sytili’s doing wonderful. Hive Fleet Hellfire as it were. Wormbag managed to fuse the very essence of brass into their bones. And he and Kaysis managed to figure out a way for them to turn the Tyranid’s blood into a caustic, boiling weapon. Considering said Xenos are desperately trying to aid the stubborn Imperium to prevent the Calixis Sector from falling… it’s not going so well. They’re safe, at least.”She sighs, then continues, “As for the Imperium itself… they’re being typically inane. Right now they have Hellfire and Helldrool confined entirely in the Drusus Marches. It’s a stalemate and they could use a little… push.”“I’m assuming I’m said push?” you ask.“Yup. You need to attune to your weapon anyways. >>38963996If you were to upgrade the weapon. which Eldar god would you use?My personal choice would be Slaanesh. Now you might say "Anon, Slaanesh isn't an Eldar god." but look. No one is going to debate about the god part, but It was created from the Eldar and eats Eldar souls. Therefore it is an Eldar god,. it just has a larger portfolio under it.
>>38964070True, but typically it seems to be used with the human meaning in mind, by my accounting.
>>38964022I figure since the blood bath on the ship literally got put into the thing, it should have a part in the name. Somehow. Also the leviathan, a large blood-dwelling fish, got used so there's another point towards it. I'm having trouble coming up with something that references blood and large bodies of liquid that still sounds good, though.
>>38964117Why use an existing one? Could we cultivate one to our purposes? Fat a calf for the slaughter, so to speak?
If there's nothing else, we'll move into the burning of the Calixis sector from a very high level overview. The idea being that this is an easy way to show the passage of time and leave open a wide swath for anyone to fill in at their leisure. More than enough to show off Sytili and Kaysis shenanigans, or expand on Cinder herself.>>38964063I like Fatebreaker, if only for the irony involved. And we all know how I love that.>>38964090The inside joke which I suppose I'm now spoiling is that that's supposed to be No-HornAlso Ash is the Daemonette. But I can rename her I guess.
>>38964141fatebreaker sounds good, would be better if it had something fire themed in it, also no need to rename Ash, that should be her name, irony and all its appropriate
>>38964146nah, sounds shit and too close to gorefather>>38964171thats just stupid
>>38964156Fatescrocher?Fateburner?Fate -insert something fiery here-?
>>38964141Well, oops. Oh well, good to know. Aside that thread, have you read the Gotrek and Felix stories? If you find the commentary out of thread annoying, other readers, I apologize this is acting as a bump.
>>38964141War Soul. Because it is the embodiment of conflict no matter what shape it takes. War may change it's form, but in the end It's still about skulls for the skull throne and blood for the blood god.
>>38964180Fatescorcher sounds good to me though I don't mind if ELH picks from the ones we've come up with apart from the silly ocean ones
>>38964218>>38964180Every time I see "Fatescorcher" I read it as "facecrotch" and I just can't take it seriously.
So I'm not kidding when I said high level. Each Sector needs three* successes during opposed tests to take over. Said sectors include:Malfian Sub SectionGolgenna Reach*AdrantisJosian ReachAzerothMarkayn MarchesNow the way this will work is you'll claim one of the sectors and roll 3d100. I'll then come along and roll against that. If we have to keep going to get successes then we will. 3 failures, though, means that sector isn't happening. Maybe you get some of it, maybe you don't. I'll give you a few fluffy events to work with either way.*Golgenna Reach requires 5 successes thanks to the Lathes and Scintilla.
>>38964229Yeah I thought that a few seconds after posting it.Hindsight
>>38964238No anon, thats the special fluffy backscratcher we keep separate and hidden from Iggy to ambush her with
Rolled 18, 11, 4 = 33 (3d100)>>38964233Azeroth
Rolled 99, 17, 23 = 139 (3d100)>>38964268Never liked that sector anyways.
>>38964233so do we vote on which to hit now?I say we start down in the bottom right with Azeroth
>>38964268...Well if the Burning Legion couldn't break through the damn place, maybe Chaos will!(I think it's Hazeroth.)
>>38964292yeah, looks like theres a H in front hidden
>>38964268>>38964276And here's the updated map! One sector down! And yes, it's Hazeroth.Battles of note include:* The Burning of Stygian Prime* The Slaughter of Cyprian's Gate* The Defilement of Pilgrim's Pause>>38964283Just pick one and roll. If it's Golgennna do 5d100 instead.
>>38964233I'll take the Josian Reach then.
Rolled 22, 32, 95 = 149 (3d100)>>38964316Let's see how Adrantis does then
Rolled 77, 45, 46 = 168 (3d100)>>38964316Adrantis. Let's split the Imperium here in half.
Rolled 100, 58, 94 = 252 (3d100)>>38964329Survey says...
>>38964324in the options field anon, not the name field
Rolled 79, 1, 63 = 143 (3d100)>>38964324Apparently I cannot into dice rolls.
>>38964335survey says they somehow exterminatus'd themselves... though they managed to beat that 95 by 1, but >>38964331 beat that 94
Rolled 53, 1, 24 = 78 (3d100)>>38964316Josian Reach
>>38964329>>38964331>>38964335Well the result is the same. With that 100 you more or less fly up to a planet and they surrender. They get slaughtered or converted all the same, of course. This repeats for a third of the sector. The only real skirmish of note is around the Piety of Seth
Rolled 83, 58, 45 = 186 (3d100)>>38964342>>38964362Show me potato salad!
Rolled 26, 86, 45, 73, 2 = 232 (5d100)>>38964363let's keep the divide going and hit the Golgenna Reach
>>38964366>>38964362>>38964342So yeah. Josian's gone poof. That 1 literally means you turned a third of the sector into a bloodbath. Planets are utterly obliterated, including Fenksworld. You also run into some Necron Tomb worlds along the way. They get overwhelmed by your Tyranid friends rather badly.
Rolled 12, 91, 35, 22, 44 = 204 (5d100)>>38964363Golgenna. Fuck it.
Rolled 82, 4, 13, 91, 45 = 235 (5d100)>>38964369Let's see how well the Lathes and Scintilla fare.
>>389643922nd and 3rd seem to have lived
>>38964369>>38964390>>38964392As to be expected, Golgenna's putting up a right fuss. Scintilla serves as one of the last few rally points for the Battlefleet, Inquisition, Deathwatch, and so forth. Even the Eldar are present. Perhaps it is thanks to them that the capital of the Calixis Sector and the Lathes survive your onslaught. For now.Any future Golgenna rolls are 2d100. You cannot afford to fail another. If you do, well I have something for that but it instantly kicks you to Khorne (not via death). So if I were you? Hold off.
Rolled 37, 38, 91 = 166 (3d100)>>38964419let's hit the Markayn Marches then
Rolled 13, 90, 75 = 178 (3d100)>>38964438And the Marches...
>>38964440put up a fight
So what do the chaos nids look like? Can I get some description?
>>38964419Oh the temptation to try. Fuck everything up vs destroy Golgenna.
>>38964438>>38964440The Marches see the shining light of Scintilla and fight tooth and nail against you. It doesn't save 2/3rds of the planets, but the Death World of Karrik in particular refuses to be turned. Even by Tyranids.>>38964453Bones replaced by solid bio-brass. Red/black coloration where it can be helped. Oh and they like to spew their flamming blood everywhere.
>>38964459yeah nah lets not and hold off on Golgenna
Rolled 18, 46, 40 = 104 (3d100)>>38964419Marches
>>38964466Well, alright. We take Golgenna at dawn.
Rolled 97, 35, 57 = 189 (3d100)>>38964467For Markayn again? Let's see...
Rolled 78, 29, 85 = 192 (3d100)>>38964464time for the Malfian Sub-Sector
>>38964464Near totally unrelated to current happenings, but what became of the practice run weapons Cinder made? They end up just getting tossed in Iggy's kitchen trash can or did they get flung out somewhere into the galaxy to cause problems later? Are they even good enough weapons that someone would want to get their hands on them or are they just fancy trash that only collectors would want? I'd think that at least the last couple test weapons she made would be at least fairly decent.
>>38964478Can you post what's been taken, what hasn't, and what's been destroyed?
Are we converting Eldar along the way?
>>38964467>>38964478>>38964464...But Karrik too falls in time. Sytili takes a few extra weeks there to incorporate the local flora and fauna into the gene pools.>>38964492One got thrown into the void and picked up by an RT.Another ended up in the hands of Alia. The third mysteriously vanished. Not even Ignitrix knows where it went.>>38964501For the most part... no. Kaysis gets a few here and there but nowhere near enough numbers to matter at this level.
>>38964510>The third mysteriously vanished. Not even Ignitrix knows where it went.Fucking time shenanigans
Rolled 26, 12, 45 = 83 (3d100)>>38964510>For the most part... no. Kaysis gets a few here and there but nowhere near enough numbers to matter at this level.awww, she needs more eldar friendscan we hit The Periphery?
Rolled 19, 37, 57 = 113 (3d100)>>38964485Malfi was always lame in my DH games. Let's see....
Rolled 6, 86, 23 = 115 (3d100)>>38964510Periphery
Rolled 92, 6 = 98 (2d100)>>38964510Golgenna.
>>38964532Anon you jackass
>>38964532fucks sake anon we agreed not to hit it yet, what the shit are you doing?
Rolled 36, 23 = 59 (2d100)>>38964525>>38964528You can just have it outright after a little plagueweaving from Acerea. By now the sector's rather low on supplies (thanks to all the agri worlds you've nommed on) and is very easy to inflict with disease and famine.>>38964526>>38964485It seems Malfi too is tired of your shit. >>38964532A 92... well maybe the dice gods will behave.
>>38964532I'll veto this if I can because apparently that anon doesn't read the thread.
Rolled 72, 15, 45 = 132 (3d100)>>38964546well then I'm tired of Malfi being tired of our shit>A 92... well maybe the dice gods will behave.uhh why does that one anon get to decide to fuck us over when the rest voted to not hit it yet?
>>38964532Wasn't me, haha. Oh shit....
Rolled 29, 31, 65 = 125 (3d100)>>38964554It was going to be rolled anyways. Let's see if you kick Malfi's ass too before I give you all one final starmap.
Rolled 50, 43, 37 = 130 (3d100)>>38964561so are we going to help out the Drusus Marches?
So here it is. The results of your Black Crusade before you run off and ascend. I find it rather interesting Scintilla held out until the end organically. We'll start next session with how you fix that since it goes straight into Khorne. Some should do the math and figure out how much of Calixis you didn't get. 2/3rds of Malfi + Scintilla.
>>38964575Cool, thanks for the thread ELH, see you in the next one, though its going to be sad once its over
>>38964607Speaking of - Sunday at 3pm is when I have it scheduled at the moment. I may do Tuesday @ 8pm instead if people want that.
>>38964621>I may do Tuesday @ 8pm instead if people want that. That would be a better time for me, but I dunno how the other anons would go
>>38964621G'night ELH, see you then.
>>38964575thanks for running boss
>>38964621tuesday's better for me. and thanks for the show, boss
