Anyway. Due to both a job and a call for help, you and your friends were going to Leanbox via ancient subterranean tunnels- and if this was an Armok-created world, that would be enough of an explanation for the spiders. Giant cave spiders love tunnels, since tasty meals called "adventurers" are kind enough to walk themselves up to the front door like some sort of bloody pizza delivery service. But no, this is Gamindustri! Cave spiders don't live here. Instead, there are cutesy moe personifications who /summon/ giant nightmarish spiders. Keeper is one such moe personification, and she wants to kill you or scream insane nonsensical gibberish at you, in no particular order- hence the spiders, and the fact that she's possessing a lizard monster to be doubly sure.Or maybe it's because you were trying to steal the immensely powerful Sharicite from right under her nose.(Cont.)
>>38901986It wasn't a BAD plan; Estelle cast some sort of Turn-Based Battle spell that forced all the monsters to fight her and Rokko. She left you out of the battle so you could steal the Sharicite while they were fighting- except Keeper tore herself free from the Turn-Based Battle, and your friends are /apparently/ trapped until they've finished dealing with the other monsters (they're as unhappy as you are with this situation, given how they're screaming your name and laying into the other demon spawn with just about everything they've got). And now Keeper's dropping spiders on your head. Not the tiny kind, but the man-sized man-eating variety that uses dwarves as conveniently bristly toothpicks or mandible-cleaners or however the hell they dislodge stray bits of food from their mouth parts. You've SEEN giant horror-spiders eat before; it's a messy business, and you're not looking forward to ANY up-close and personal demonstration of their bad table manners.Hell, right now, you can't see anything BUT spider eyes, spider mandibles, spider abdomens, and spider legs, and to your frenzied mind, it feels like they're all popping out from thin air the moment you think you're free of the crowd. You curse loudly, thrashing about and trying to free yourself from the goddamn hairy spider legs filling up your vision, waiting for the bite that'll pump you full of poison or fill up your lungs or suffocate you-- except that bite never comes.(Cont.)
>>38901999"Worthless!" Keeper shrieks, her voice distorted by her host body's reptilian vocal chords. You flinch away as a giant disembodied hand pops out from thin air, but all it does is swat a few spiders hard enough that ichor spatters against the ground. "Worthless, all of you! You can't just... just /take a break/ because the floor hit you on the way down!"With a grunt and a hiss, you scamper out from the pile of spiders, shoving them none too gently with your liquid metal gauntlets. They're... they're all /dizzy/. Stumbling around drunkenly, tangled in their own legs, or just waiting for the world to stop spinning. You're REAL familiar with these symptoms, and not just because you've lived around bars almost all your life; your much-abused brain dredges up something from your battered memory. Summoning sickness. Keeper was once a master at picking up her minions and teleporting them to any of her territories (in this case, a rock in your pack) WITHOUT getting even one of them airsick, but she's long since lost the patience needed for /that/.Which means you got a few seconds' reprieve, for whatever that's worth. Quick decisions aren't your strong point, but you get the feeling that tinkering with your own unexplored powers is a great way to get yourself murdered while you're contemplating your own navel. So you figure that since you're probably gonna get horribly murdered anyway, why not indulge in what you've always wanted to do first?"That's right, shake it off," Keeper snarls at her spiders. She doesn't even see you break into a dead run. "Now go attack that WHUGUMPF."She also doesn't see you punching her host body in the gut until it's already happened. Keeper lets out a strangled wheeze as her demon spawn hits the ground, and even /that/ sounds mad as all hell- a hit like that won't keep her down for very long.So you dig out the Strange Red Rock that's apparently a piece of her dungeon and/or summoning focus, and you wing that at her head, too. You can HEAR it connect from where you stand, thudding against the lizard monster's skull, but you don't bother following up- Keeper's a better fighter than you'll ever be, AND her possession beefs up her host body like nothing else.(Cont.)

>>38903203>[X] [ALL OF THE ABOVE]>1Right. Spiders. You know spiders like the back of your hand. Big hairy monstrosities who enjoy hurling around webs and ambushing unwary dwarves. So if you're gonna do this thing, then you're damn well gonna go the whole fucking way, right? The floating pixels start swirling around you as you begin rewriting Keeper's minion from the ground up, starting with its name- Momuz. Momuz is a great name. And Momuz was born in 135, fought its first adventurer in 136, got hired by Keeper in the spring of 139... the sounds of battle and Keeper's angry shrieks all fade to the background as you lose yourself in the smallest of details, from Momuz's third leg's dented exoskeleton to the coloration of Momuz's eyes, from the seasonal events that shaped the giant spider's life, all the way to the chicken it enjoyed eating the night before it arrived in this cavern.... and you feel at peace. For a brief, fleeting moment, you can't help but feel that maybe, just maybe, something nice will happen to you.Why the fuck would anything nice ever happen to you?Your first sign that something is terribly wrong is when Momuz begins twitching, its mandibles clacking together in spasms. Its exoskeleton cracks and reforms, cracks and reforms, and the spider begins swelling in jerks and fits- and you can't fucking /stop/ it, all the details start filling themselves out as your essence keeps on flowing right into Momuz almost of its own accord, mixing horribly with whatever it is that makes it one of KEEPER'S minions, like it's starting a self-starting, self-perpetuating chemical reaction-(Cont.)

Momuz defeats an army of hundreds, 149, an army of thousands, 151, an entire civilization, and the dark god gives it scraggly feathers, horns, more venom, stronger webs, greater strength, as a token of favor-There's no fighting in this cavern, not any more. The demon spawns are all backing away uncertainly, not even taking advantage of how distracted Estelle and Rokko are by this rapidly-growing monstrosity; even Keeper is frozen in place, her host body's jaw hanging open. And you, you're stuck right in the middle, gritting your teeth against the strain even as you feed more of your power into the spider, which drinks it all in greedily->T̸h͜ȩ Forǵǫt͢te̢n̨ Bea͠st ̕Mo̵mu͟z͘ has c̀o͠m͞e͜!́ ̶A̷ ͢gi̴g͡an̶t҉ic͠ fea͝th͞ère̶d ̶t҉a̡r͞ant̸u͞la.͏ I̢t ̀ha͡s҉ ҉t̡wo b̷road̴ ho̢r̸n҉s͞ a҉nd̡ ҉it̕ is s̡la͡v̀e͞ri̷n̷g͟. ͡Įts̨ ͝t͝an f́eath̨er̢s are̷ ̵lo̵n͘g ̨a҉nd̡ sṕar͟śè.̸ Be̵wa̵re̕ its poi̢son̨ǫu̢s͝ bi̡te͜!Towering above all you puny mortals, rearing up so high that its head scrapes the cavern's ceiling, the Forgotten Beast Momuz rears its horned head back and shrieks, a high keening call that echoes into the farthest recesses of your brain and drains away any courage you might have once had. You can't even see what the hell Estelle and Rokko are doing, not from this angle, and Keeper...Keeper is laughing. Just as when she'd possessed all those giant fly monsters, her laughter is not entirely sane.Forgotten Beast Momuz ignores all the noise and the biological ammunition opening up cracks along its exoskeleton. It's leaning down to stare at you with all its glowing eyes, venom dripping from those misshapen mandibles that are each as big as you are; there's a faint hissing sound as those stray poisonous drops start searing holes in the rock floor, and you can't stop staring and you can't even move because you've /drained/ yourself somehow, and you're absolutely exhausted and-- and...>CHOOSE AN ADVENTURER TO SWAP CONTROL TO[ ] [ESTELLE][ ] [ROKKO][ ] [KEEPER]

Although the mana of the dark gods still flow through your veins, and although you are capricious and evil and UNDENIABLY the head bitch in charge of your own dungeon (and, eventually, all of Gamindustri), you... you are not what you used to be.You would, of course, rip off the heads of anyone who dares say that to you, but deep in your blackened heart, you know it's the truth. After you were outcast, you've been plagued with nothing short of crippling embarrassment after crippling embarrassment, and this whole debacle with your own stunned minions is just the icing on the cake. You're well past your golden years; the world has moved on without you.Of course, you HAVE entered into an alliance expressly to tear Gamindustri a new asshole, and maybe plunge a few nations into bloody anarchy while you're at it, but then, you wouldn't have needed to team up if you'd been in your prime. It's almost enough to make you throw in the towel, open up your own little pet dungeon on some abandoned island somewhere, and spend the rest of your days watching your minions gamble their earnings away while they laze about and eat chickens. And then there's Urist. Dear little Urist, the apple of your eye, the grubby dwarf who grew up to be more than you could ever hope to achieve, the little girl who owes your entire existence to /you/. You've been following her in the bodies of your weakest minion types, watching her twist reality's arm behind its back, and admiring her borderline psychopathic episodes that her "friends" laugh off as Urist being Urist.Urist, who just stitched together an entire elder monstrosity from the shittiest cloth available.(Cont.)

This little dwarf, her stunted body containing the power of the gods themselves, will be the key to just about everything. (It's such a pity that no one believes you yet, but that's the problem with being the most conniving villain around: when you're at the top, it's awfully lonely.)... and Urist, YOUR Urist, is about to die at the slavering mandibles of her own magnificent creation, even as her "friends" leap into action, screaming her name, and even as your own worthless minions try to even get Forgotten Beast Momuz's attention.Back in the safety of your inner sanctum, you raise your head and bare your teeth; here in the cavern, your possessed demon spawn does the same, spitting the chunk of Sharicite to the ground. Even now, you're way too tempted to bloody your fangs and claws, and to rip apart this Forgotten Beast by sheer force. A part of you always hungers for the up-close and personal thrill of battle, and for the absolute /bliss/ that bubbles up in your blackened heart whenever you feel your enemy's flesh parting beneath your scythe and hear their gurgling shrieks. The Horned Reaper is always a part of you- yes, you're always Horny, ha ha, everyone has to get that joke out of their system- but you are Keeper. THE Keeper. And you've got minions for this kind of thing. With a thought, your demon spawn body, faster from the possession magic coursing through its veins, hunches down and picks up the bit of your dungeon floor that Urist has carried all this time. It's the bit she'd just used to brain you with, in a damn fine show of marksdwarfship, and the bit you've been using to summon your minions in her general vicinity. And then you wing it right underneath the Forgotten Beast. Back in your real body, you trace a sigil in the air, and a sharpened pole sprouts from the ground, unfurling a banner emblazoned with your bullfrog emblem- and unleashing a torrent of magically-charged fanfare. After that, it's only a matter of muttering two beautifully vague words, sweet as syrup:"Get them."(Cont.)
>>38905541Even whipped up into a frenzy, your spiders avoid the Forgotten Beast; instead, they skitter around and lunge for Urist's "friends." Two forerunners make first contact, one narrowly missing the robot's head and another getting caught on the swordswoman's shield, before the rest of your spiders simply start dogpiling the heroes. Your demon spawn simply continue peppering the Forgotten Beast with their missiles, visibly denting the giant monstrosity's exoskeleton and knocking out entire swathes of feathers, but doing little else.So before it can reach down and bite off Urist's head, you cast the spell to turn Forgotten Beast Momuz into a much smaller, much more helpless chicken; with a poof, you've reduced a horrifying nightmarish sanity-sapping monstrosity to a dinner order. Why not? It's technically standing on your territory, after all, even if it's just a little fragment of it.... maybe not so helpless, after all. In a grudgingly glorious show of initiative, one demon spawn lunges forward and bites down on the disoriented snack-sized Forgotten Beast. Your minion immediately reels back with a gurgled shriek as its face promptly starts melting, and it falls dead within seconds, the flesh of its head rotted right off its bleached bones.Ah well. If the Forgotten Beast is out of commission, if only temporarily, then you can have your minions focus on removing Urist's "friends" from the picture. In the meantime, you'll just take good care of your dear little Urist in the most reliable way possible: in person.>CHOOSE AN ADVENTURER TO SWAP CONTROL TO:[ ] [ESTELLE][ ] [ROKKO]

Although... well, you've heard a lot of people call you a hero and/or a legendary hero, and while you're really thankful for that, it's never really seemed like that from where you stand. After all, it's not you that makes all these legends possible; it's Gamindustri that's a land chock-full of legends of the past, legends in the making, and a whole bunch of legends just waiting to happen! It's something you try to keep in mind when the going gets tough! You also kinda need to remind yourself that you and your friends have gotta /survive/ through a legendary battle like this, because if the monsters defeat you all here, then no one'll ever know about the battle. Or its legendariness. And you'll never get a chance to ask Urist what it was she DID, but that's... sort of a thing for later! Yeah.Even if you're no longer in your comfort zone- turn-based battles and nothing but turn-based battles, where everyone's facing each other in two straight lines, just as it should be- it's a REALLY good thing you're /absolutely loaded/ with time-tested tricks of the trade. You smash a spider aside with your shield before cleaving it from mandible to abdomen- nothing flashy, nothing acrobatic or sword-dancer-y like Ein does, just some good old-fashioned critical hits."Gigaslash!"... with a few fancy tricks sprinkled in for good measure, like how you turn your legendary sword into a gigantic thunderbolt and lash it from side to side, clearing a path through the spiders. With whatever it is that Keeper's doing to her minions, it's not QUITE enough to defeat them all, just weaken them considerably, but it's enough to give you a little breathing room! Enough to look around and see how the battle's goooOH boy.(Cont.)
>>38906001We do actually have fanart of her!I don't have it on me though, it's should be up in some of the older threads
>>38906028That's... some hair.
>>38906023Rokko's getting swarmed. You feel a spike of guilt as you belatedly remember that she's an absolute legend with that Mega Buster, but not so much when she's forced into melee. The Blue Bomber's weathering the tide of bodies as well as she can, with nary a scream nor shriek, but her armor's starting to get punched through again as she simply plows through the spiders' jabbing legs and mandibles. If there IS a plus side to this all, then it's that Keeper is nowhere to be seen, and Urist is... w-well, she's not CURRENTLY in danger! It's just those little lizard guys keeping that Forgotten Beast surrounded, even if that Beast is just a Chicken. Forgotten Chicken doesn't have quite that awesome awe-inspiring ring to it, though, so it'll be a weird legend toooOKAY you've really got to get it together. You call out to Urist and Rokko to hang in there! Neither of them answer you- Rokko for obvious reasons, while Urist is-... she's crying. Little sis is crying. Don't let her get overwhelmed, or neither you nor Urist will have a chance at getting out of this![ ] [CROWD CONTROL!] You need to clear out all these minions before you can focus on the big boss. >>38906001>>38906033>>38906046Yup. Courtesy of Eanh_the_Weird on Twitter! In earlier threads, everyone surmised that Urist also probably looks a lot like Taiga from Toradora!, although that's probably to be taken with a grain of salt.

>>38906063> WRITE-IN [DUNGEON ESCAPE]Use a... what's that item? The one that instantly transports yourself and your allies out of the dungeon. The chicken spell is going to wear off eventually. Even with that there's still this horrible mob around. And since we just entered the dungeon just a moment ago, we can run back in AFTER the forgotten beast mauls everything and take it and the treasure.

OKAY WHOA it's really late and I didn't notice, so I should call it a thread here so I'm not completely ineffective tomorrow! And also because my writing's going to start deteriorating at this rate.Next thread will be on THURSDAY, 3/26, at about 8:30-ish pm EST! As always, updates to scheduling will be at http://twitter.com/BlorpQuest, and questions can totally either go here or ask.fm/BlorpQuest.And [LITTLE SIS CRYING] wins by a landslide, so I'll be mixing that with [DQ: MONSTERS] at the start of next thread! Thanks for your participation, guys, and see you next time!haha wow that roll of 1 basically upended everything I had in mind for this thread. OF ALL THE TIMES WE CRIT FAILED, IT HAD TO BE RIGHT THEN
>>38906274>OF ALL THE TIMES WE CRIT FAILED, IT HAD TO BE RIGHT THENI'd say my shame will never end.But I still have high hopes for taming a Forgotten Chicken of Doom.
>>38906274Never underestimate a dorf's ability to fuck everything up.
>>38906274That's how you know it's a real Dwarf Fortress quest>>38906001Someone already posted the pics of her, but besides the crossbow she also has a pair of huge LIQUID METAL GAUNTLETS, will you be posting it here when you're done?
>>38906274thanks for writing!
>>38906274This is what we call !!FUN!!
>>38906274Thanks for the thread Boss.>OF ALL THE TIMES WE CRIT FAILED, IT HAD TO BE RIGHT THENYou got to admit, this is way more FUN than anything that could have happened.
>>38906274It's very !!FUN!! to critfail like that. Very Dorf Ortress. Forgotten Beasts are great for Megaprojects and getting "Cheevos"
>>38906311I'll probably post it next thread. The design is a lot more elaborate than I expected.
>>38906297Sadly, Chicken is a temporary status ailment in Dungeon Keeper! It's not likely to last long on a legendary ubermonster.>>38906308>>38906311>>38906319>>38906329... yeah, I shouldn't be surprised! But it's just- goddamn, even /tg/ dice conspire- in a relatively subtle way- to keep Urist in her special little place of eternal suffering.>>38906341Oh ffff, I'll definitely look forward to it. Thanks a lot, man!If it helps, her armor at least is bog-standard iron armor; I didn't really have an armor design in mind, so as long as it's functional and low-key!
>>38906341Awesome, we've gotten really lucky with art now that I think about it.
>>38906463That helps a lot more than you think. Those sketches have some pretty intricately detailed stuff, when you get down to trying to pose it at different angles. I'm remembering why I gave up on this sketch last time...
>>38906274Thanks for running! Looks like we're having some !!FUN!!
>>38906463I cant wait for moe horned reaper, its gonna be hilarious.
>>38904142>starting with its name- Momuz. Momuz is a great name.Momuz is great name.
>>38906610Damn, now I have to name one of my tarantulas Momuz.I'll save it for the OBT. Only it can be sufficiently angry.
>>38906618Alternatively, someone could name an angry chicken after it. Or an asshole rooster I guess.
>>38906604>moe horned reaperMoe horned reaper Keeper who loves UristFucking moeshit anime bullshit
>>38906672I know, it's great isn't it?
>>38906672I think "love" is not the right word."Obsesses" and "feels ownership."Urist is like the family dog. You know, Orion. The one with the universe on it's neck.
>>38906463>... yeah, I shouldn't be surprised! But it's just- goddamn, even /tg/ dice conspire- in a relatively subtle way- to keep Urist in her special little place of eternal suffering. It's all to make her happy end that much brighter, if she gets one that is.
>>38906463Goddess of Misfortune Interventions when?
>>38906697FOUR EARS AAAGGGHHH
>>38906897How does dwarf fortress end happily?
Reading the archives, if Neptune was more hardcore she might think about killing Urist to get back her protag spot since she got it back for a bit when Urist got knocked the fug out.
>>38906973I-it could happen, r-r-right?
>>38907038No. Armok, God of Blood, Patron God of The Dwarves, demands otherwise.Remind me to read a few !!FUN!! pages from the book of Armok.
>>38907038>>38907112It'll be more like a "and the adventure continues"Or at least the Fortress continues. As long as she's got a fort, some beer, and some friends things will be okay.
>>38906110>In earlier threads, everyone surmised that Urist also probably looks a lot like Taiga from Toradora!, although that's probably to be taken with a grain of salt. It's the truth, don't deny it!Urist is a tiny, squeaky, raspy, angry little girl.
>>38906973When you have achieved a well-entrenched and supplied forthress, beaten off all possible sieges and conquered hell. Then you can only end by fucking something up on purpose and that's cheating.Although you'll probably drop it due to lag.
>>38907551>on purposeI think you mean "Because Armok Wills It."
>>38907666The will of Armok is done by the forces of the game, not by the players hand!
>>38906274I have to wonder, what would have happened if we hadn't rolled a 1?
>>38907647> [LITTLE SIS CRYING]
>>38906547Something to note is how small Urist is, she's shorter than Blanc is untransformed..
>>38906311If you look at >>38906028 there is already a pair of liquid gauntlets. But then again it was a kind of sketchy with all those lines.A more cleaner art will definitely be appreciable.
>>38908658This was the only reference I could find for Liquid Metal Slime Gloves.
>>38908939Wait.. . . It was an actual item?My bad.
