You rub your eyes, feeling the blood rush and give you feeling back into every bit of your muscles. «Lumière! Your breakfast is getting cold! Hurry up and come down! »« Oui, mama! » you call back down to her. You hear the music bleeding through the bright wooden floor. Ah, Edith Piaf… You step off the bed, then dust down your flowing nightgown. You can’t remember much of what happened last night, but you hope it wasn’t anything important of course. You look around at your room, lovingly painted light green, with your hope chest at end of your bed. There’s a closet as well for your dresses and clothes as well, and there’s a bathroom and a lavatory as well to yourself. You sniff the air as you open your windows wide. You hear the bells of victory ring through the streets. The birds sing and whistle as they fly past.Oh, oh oui, that’s right! Your Mama is the picture of unkempt beauty, having worked hard throughout the campaign against the Nazis in the factories. Her curly hair still has little bits of axle grease in it, buried underneath a red scarf wrapped around her head. She makes the crows feet and the bags under he eyes look cute. You could only hope to be as wonderful as her.She sighs, smirking. « Lumi, must I choose everything for you? Honestly. » You pout at her, mockingly. « Oui… we will be attending the parade and the ceremony this afternoon so I’d suggest something a little formal, oui? » You nod, and watch as she takes out a nice blue shirtdress. « There, that compliments you well. » You smile as you drop out of your nightgown then quickly put it on. « Hold on, are you just going to put it on without bathing? »You frown. « You think someone will notice? »She sniffs the air, then cringes. « I am noticing now. » Mama! You slap her on the arm, frowning heavily. « I am joking! But seriously, groom yourself quickly, oui? Quick bath then it is off to work for you. »You smile happily, placing the dress over your arm. You decide a little green scarf as well would complement the dress too. « Ah, Mama. » She turns back before she leaves, looking to you. « Erm… what day is it, Mama? »« 20th of September, 1940? » She smirks. « Losing yourself again, Lumi? »> « Hmph, I don’t lose myself at all. You step past the gate and into the yard where all the children play. Boys and girls of all ages, all connected by the loss of their parents. And there you see Clarissa, wearing a bright green dress, a little black jacket, and white gloves, happily letting a pair of girls hang off her back while she runs around. “Here we go! Get out of the way, the pain train is coming, destination: you!” she yells. All the girls scream as Clarissa comes flying through.Americans.She trips and falls, skidding to a halt right in front of you. “Again, again, Auntie Clarissa!” they both yell.Clarissa looks up at you, smiling. You can’t help but smile back at her. “Ah, later, kids.” They both frown, stepping off of her. “Let me talk to Lumi here real quick and I’ll get back to ya.” They both nod, then run off to join other kids in play. “Lumi, what’s the good word? I hear your Daddy is getting a medal.”“One of the most prestigious, if not the most prestigious honors in the French military,” you say. “How are you doing, Clarissa?”“Ah, the kids have just been a handful,” she says. “That don’t mean though that I don’t love ‘em as all. You should come by more, we could always use more help around the place.”“I’d love to,” you say. “Say, Clarissa, er…” You cross your arms, narrowing. “Have you noticed anything strange?” you ask.“Strange?” She scratches her chin. “What, like a protestant actually being passionate about something?”“Besides that,” you say. “I mean…” You sigh. “Nevermind, it is nothing.”“You sure?” She places her hand on your forehead. “You sure ain’t sick? However, he looks down, and turns his shako up to see you.« Lumi! My little lantern! » You get another spike to the head, a quick one but it’s there. You start climbing up the tank, with the help of the crew and the soldiers sitting atop it. « Careful, careful! » They happily boost you up next to him on the turret, and immediately the crowd cheers even louder when they see a war hero with his child. « What’s that? » He points to the wine bottle in your hands.« For you, Papa! » You grin happily. He smiles, picking it up. His grin and his immediate motion to open it clearly say you’ve got it right.« Thank you, Lumi! » He takes you in his arm, kissing you on the cheek and happily lifting the bottle for all to see. You can feel the thundering vibration of the tank beneath, which sends shockwaves and rushes up your body. Streamers and rice are thrown into the streets in celebration, as the horns and the trumpets play a march of music.> …> …« For his service to the nation of France, and for exemplar courage beyond the call of duty, we present Gerard Berger the Legion of Honor. May he continue to serve France for years to come, and be the example set forth for all of our soldiers to follow in our country’s history. Hear, hear! »The entire city of Paris is ablaze with applause as you, your Papa, and your Mama wave to them all. On your Papa’s immaculate dress uniform sits the Legion of Honor, the highest award France can give to a soldier in its service. You feel a tear come to your eye, you’re so proud of him. You can’t imagine…You grab your head again, groaning quietly. Another pain.Papa looks back to you, then his smile fades. « Lumi, are you okay? »> « I just need to sit down. »> « I’m fine, I’m fine! They themselves had lost a considerable amount of their population after the first great war. The French mandatory service length was roughly a year maybe a little more. They had to compensate for something especially the fact that France also suffered from the great depression and had limited military funding.it's not the fact they weren't thinking 'outside the box' it just that with limited resources, money, and manpower they had to make due with other things.
>>38072956If he knew that speed was the Key, then I wished to hell he told Mongomery that! Still, that wall was a monstrous investment of manpower, money and resources. It still didn't cover the flanks where Hitler just walked around the wall. The emplacement guns couldn't even turn properly if at all.
>>38073071I didn't say it was a good idea either, however they thought they could cut costs but leaving the mountainous area near italy alone because that is a natural wall. the only open area was Belguim, IIRC, which which could be defended if necessary .Also again, Even if Charles did told Mongomery told him that,, it would probably fall on deaf ears, Also lack of communication and again, a fear of starting a war with Germany again and causing another world war.
> « I just need to sit down. »You motion them away. « I just need to sit down. » You quickly step over to a chair, then slouch into it. Your Papa and your Mama glance at each other nervously, but continue with the formalities. Your Papa especially is quite eager to shake hands with the Prime Minister and the President, as well give thanks to his crew who stuck by him even before the incident that made him famous. And still, this headache, you really wish it would go away so you could enjoy this but it won’t.> …> …The drive back home is calm at least. Mama and Papa continue to talk and playfully flirt with one another. All is well in the world. The car pulls up into the garage, and all of you climb out. « I will get dinner started, oui? » You and Papa nod, happy to have some of Mama’s delicious cooking. « Lumi, you should go rest, I’ll send for a Doctor to come by and have a look at you, okay? » You sigh. Great, the Doctor. You nod at that, and to which Mama walks ahead of all of you into the house.Papa looks down at you. « Try not to sloth around now, Lumi, it’s a sin after all. » Right, right…> Help Mama in the kitchen.> Spend some time with Papa in the living room.> Rest up in your bedroom.> Write in

>>38073196That reminded me, When I was a kid, my dad took me to a reunion of the survivors of Market Garden operation. The U.S. vets and the British vets nearly started a full out brawl among each other over Mongomery's actions. The Brits then thought he did nothing wrong, The U.S. vets blamed Mongomery for losing the whole thing.>>38073330Indeed! >>38073375Again, just because they are allies doesn't mean they liked to listen to each other.Hell, Patton and Monogamy should speak for itself of such cooperation
>>38073665he was too busy reading Rommel's book
>>38073665>>38073763Have you read 'Killing Patton' book yet? It was much more concise and shed more light on Patton's relations with the other generals at the time. It's worth the read.
>>38073793I read a few pages of i, but I'm a bit weary since it was written by O'Riley. It seems like it but I don't know.
>Papa, Why are you reading Infanterie Greift An?>Shut up and eat your waffles through osmosis!
>>38073763I think Rommel was inspired byt Charles paper on the subject and saw military exercises of the British in the 20s and 30s but I''m not sure enough to back this up.
>>38073841Just ignore O'Riley's reputation on TV. It does not show up at all in the book, I can tell Martin Dugard did most of the work in writing it. It is really worth your time to read it.
> Help Mama in the kitchen. You lean in through the doorway, watching as Mama cooks some pasta in a pot. « Mama, you need some help? »She smiles, looking at you. « Are you not supposed to be resting, Lumi? » You shrug, pouting at her. « Okay, okay, help me with the sauce if you please. » You step on over to the counter and bring up a bowl where the ingredients for the white sauce are placed. « I must say, Lumi it has been quite the day. I feel wonderful. »Another splitting headache.« Lumi. » Your mother’s smile drops completely, then she kneels down to your level. « Honest, are you alright? I already called the Doctor. We can have you checked out. »You blink.…« Mama. » You grit your teeth, hissing as you hold your head.« Oh, Sweetie, sweetie, sit down sit down. » She gently hugs you, then places you down on the kitchen. « Let me get you a hot towel for your head, oui? » She turns to the hallway.« Mama! » You reach out for her. « Mama… » She sits down next to you, staring at you with those warm green eyes of hers, the same ones you inherited. « I am so sorry, Mama. I ruined everything. »She shakes her head. « No, no, baby. You are just fine. You are fine just the way you are. You are the light in our family, I know it. But even lights cannot be good if they are doused like you intend to be. »« Mama, it’s not that, I… »« What? » She tilts her head, placing her hand upon your head. « You can tell me. »> « You’re not real. »> « No, it’s nothing. »> Write in
>>38073793That book is a comedy of errors and universally panned by actual historians as well as Patton's descendants. O'Riley's fanwank needs to be moved to the fiction section by every bookseller.

> « You’re not real. »You hold your head, feeling the pain seep into your brain. « You’re not real. None of this is real, Mama, I’m so sorry.» She stares at you, completely silenced by the revelation. « I love you, Mama. But you died giving birth to me. Papa becomes a drunk, he even deserts from the battle when it happens, Mama! I-… » You sob, pressing your hands against your head. Something is sawing through your head with a dull blade. « Mama! It hurts! It hurts! »She hugs you tightly. « It’s okay, Sweetie. It’s okay… » She presses her cheek against yours, absorbing the tears flowing from your eyes. « Even if I am not real, I still love you. »« It hurts… » Your head pounds. You clutch at your Mama’s back, crying out. « Mama… »And with that, your Mama begins to sing.« Au clair de la lune,Mon ami Pierrot,Prête-moi ta plumePour écrire un mot.Ma chandelle est morte,Je n'ai plus de feu.Ouvre-moi ta portePour l'amour de Dieu. »You sniffle, crying out against fate. The fate that took your sweet Mama, that drove your Papa to the bottle, and away from his tank and away from the war.You feel the very Earth sink beneath you. It feels as if your eyes are being torn out.Your sweet Mama…Why, God. Why?
>>38075199> …> …You tear the monstrous Black Mercy from your face and slam it down on the asteroid. It skitters, creaking in pain as it tries to get away. You stomp it with your foot, again, and again, and again. Blood splatters all over the roughshodden ground of the asteroid as you mercilessly destroy the it.Finally, it is dead. You cry, screaming so loudly that you can feel the very essence of rage, confusion, and tragedy shoot out throughout the universe. « Mama! » you scream. You smash your fist into the ground, crying, the tears coming down from your eyes. You gently prod your cheek, and find blood mixed in with the salty water coming from your eyes. « Mama ! » you cry again. You kneel down, then hunch over. In little droplets the tears tap against the asteroid.

>>38075351Thanks for running Schteel.
>>38075298Red lantern costume unlocked! Here everyone complained at me for not wanting to end the dream so soon, I wanted that one.>>38075351Thanks GS, and thanks for putting up with all of us.
>>38075298>“Lumière Berger. You have great rage in your heart. ”OH SHIT, we still have Atrocitus' Red Ring on us
>>38075298>>38075351And then Cherry has to save Lumi
>>38075395the destination is the journey foolif Lumi just escaped without the emotional build up, no red ring>>38075351thanks for running
>>38075351Thank you for running, GS!
>>38075533The red ring was a good one, but so are the other rings. We might have also scored one of them too. Never the less, I am pleased with this.
>>38075269Black Mercy goes on the chestStarro goes on the face
>>38075806It's an easy mistake to make.
>>38075806I'm aware of where Black Mercy usually goes.I just thought it'd be funnier to bully Lumi and give her the one that went right for the face.
>>38075860Plz, no bully the Lumi. She has it hard enough as is.
>>38075860>Why did you go for my face monsieur black mercy?>Sorry, I thought it was your butt!
>>38075860If Lumi gets angry and tries to pull the red ring off, would it grab her tighter since she's getting angrier the longer she fails to pull it off?
>>38075913If you take off a red ring, you die. That's how the red ring works, once you put it on taking it off kills you.
>>38076544GS is probably running off GLTAS Red lanterns Cherry seemed pretty stable and not constantly growling and vomitting napalm
Now all Lumi needs is to have the indigo ring and blue ring and she'll have (at least temporarily) had contact with all the colers of the emotional spectrum.
>>38075298Tbh I would expect rage to be a primary force effecting anyone who fought free of a black mercy. I mean seriously, that shit is just not cool,
