For House & Dominion: Home Front Quest http://houseanddominion.wikia.com/wiki/House_%26_Dominion_Complete_Archivehttp://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=House%20and%20DominionYou are Sonia Reynard, Attack Wing Leader and Knight of the House of Jerik-Dremine!With the Neeran war currently in stalemate and both sides rebuilding their numbers you've previously been assigned to train ship crews into elite fighting forces. This has been broken up by your time at home on leave and a diplomatic mission to Watcher space. While you're currently on leave from the Alliance it seems that the Neeran have launched another offensive. Rather than sending you to the front with reinforcements the House is worried about the state of things in South Reach and for good reason. The Warlords are an unstable element at present due to their lack of a clear leadership figure. Because of this and their fleets of super heavy cruisers they’re currently one of the biggest threats in the region.Diplomats from the Dominion have made attempts to form alliances with the seperate Warlords or even establish them as new Houses with financial backing to rebuild their economy. 3 Warlords have since formed Houses, and another 3 have allied with the Dominion, though there has been considerable infighting. Several super heavy cruisers remain unaccounted for but are believed to have defected to other Warlords. One has even joined up with the PCCG militiaStill, things are beginning to show signs of stabilising. After a few weeks of fighting and confusion economic aid has begun pouring into the new Dominion territories.
It's happening!>One has even joined up with the PCCG militiaNeat.
>>37974604FOR HOUSE AND DOMINION
>>37974604Ahhhh Its been so long! Can't even remember what happened last.
Raiders continue staging attacks on colonies and shipping throughout South Reach, with a barely perceptible upswing in activity thanks to the addition of the newest deserters. It is becoming increasingly obvious which Houses have been secretly employing the SRL deserters as privateers to strike at rivals. This despite erasing sections of the crew's memories to prevent employers from being implicated in the event of capture. House Feron now claims to have enough evidence that they could declare war on an unspecified rival if not for the war complicating things.Roughly 60% of all Houses with territory in South Reach have implemented new cooperative policies that should make things easier for Houses and Bounty Hunters to arrest fleeing pirates. It is having an effect and should continue to reduce the numbers of pirates in the region in the long term.Between hunting pirates, negotiating with Warlords and trying to save acquaintances from themselves you've been investigating what turned out to be an alliance sting operation of sorts. In the process your and everyone else you'd involved ended up being recruited to hunting down possible enemy agents seeking an experimental Medium cruiser. A small fleet of SRL personnel were successfully intercepted, as were agents in other systems. It also gave you a chance to test out your new suit of power armor which you're still adjusting to.Lastly agents of House Fle'rov disguised as mercenaries bought the experimental ship and brought it back to a shipyard for analysis, not realising it was an expertly disguised Trojan horse.Crippling the defenders with a surprise attack, Alliance troops and your Marines took a Baron from House Fle'rov into custody. A quick check of their ID in the database shows them to be a direct relative of their House leadership. It's more than 2 weeks until the final arrests are made and you're able to return to Surakeh, reporting in to Baron Winifred about your exploits.
>>37975058>Ahhhh Its been so long!>Can't even remember what happened last.Exactly my reaction yesterday and today.Sorry this is taking so long.House Fle'rov has figured out that something has gone wrong and have begun efforts to distance themselves from unspecified "rogue elements." You're aware the Baron that was captured also attempted to claim that the operation was a private affair but the Alliance says otherwise. If they haven't presented their evidence to the Ruling House yet they will soon. You can of course preempt the official announcements using your own recordings as pretext for an invasion of an enemy of the Dominion. This will likely annoy the Ruling House and numerous other allies as they'll have insufficient time to prepare. Your House could seize considerable territory in a lightning offensive but you would have little support from allies.Another option is to ready the fleet now and conduct exercises near House Fle'rov territory waiting for the official announcement. This would give Jerik-Dremine an advantageous position.Waiting for official word like everyone else may not seem like the best idea but would not result in a large portion of the fleet being out of position should the Ruling House decide on some other course of action. Winifred points out that as the ranking officer from a Dominion House present during the raid your statements and opinions could hold a great deal of sway regarding the fate of the House. The rulers of House Fle'rov would likely pay dearly for any kind of statement by you saying that the captured Baron was acting on their own. Even if it contradicted information obtained by the Alliance it might stave off complete destruction of the House. That debt would not be a small one. [ ] Preempt official announcement[ ] Conduct exercises near Fle'rov territory[ ] Waiting for official word [ ] Blackmail Fle'rov[ ] Other
>>37976064>[x] Conduct exercises near Fle'rov territoryI do enjoy remaining in good terms with the Ruling House. As much as I enjoy Blackmail, I don't think it really fits Sonia's style.
>>37976064No problems bud, after all you're that slow typing guy
>>37976064>House Fle'rovCould we have some more information on them? Would they be worth saving?
>>37976064That reminds me, is it cooled down enough that we can make that joke to the commander about how she already gave us a diamond and all thats left to get us is a ring?
>>37976113I'll second this.
>>37976186We've made this one before.
>>37976113This. It makes good sense, and we can still make great gains while avoiding our house being cut off from support and suffering losses. Part of our success in the various battles and strategic maneuvering we've done is letting allies take big hits instead of us.
>>37976600One way to sum up the choice is to still be aggressive without overextending.
>>37976404No, we told her we had a joke for her after all of this cooled down, we never actually told it
>>37976064[X] Conduct exercises near Fle'rov territoryWe need more worlds, not allies at the moment I do believe.>>37976600It's the best kind of tactic. You guys fight the army while we plunder the treasury!
>>37976113fourthing this, new planets for that sweet Baron title incoming?
>>37976138>Could we have some more information on them? Would they be worth saving?House Fle'rov is not a supporter of the war effort and pulled their ships after losses. They were always a minor House but their standing among the Dominion has plummeted since the start of the war due to poor leadership. As they do not support the war effort they've been unable to acquire Dominion Assault corvette rights and were only able to purchase attack corvette upgrades from House Kharbos. Their financial situation is poor and they have half as many habitable worlds as your own House.By the looks of things you've destroyed or crippled their most up to date warships which were likely bought via the black market using the personal funds of their most affluent family. Are they worth saving? That is more your call. Most seem to support conducting exercises near their space.>>37976186>>37976404>>37976782"Reynard, what was that joke you wanted to share earlier?"You tell her about only missing a ring after being given a diamond by her.She remains expressionless for a moment, hand moving to the button on her desk that would activate a scrambler for listening devices. Then she catches on that you are in fact actually joking instead of giving an obscure code and rolls her eyes. "It's been so long I wasn't quite certain what you meant at first. Yes, very funny Captain. If you'll excuse me I need to find a suitable site for fleet exercises including planetary assault drills."
>>37977391>Are they worth saving? That is more your call.I guess that's a pretty hard choice to make without knowing who their allies are, where their problems actually lie, etc>Most seem to support conducting exercises near their space.Yes, it seems most people are up for the plan with our fleets conducting excercises nearby.Do we know anybody who has connections to house Fle'rov? Having somebody who could convince their planets and fleets to surrender without trouble or negotiate a deal once the ruling house declares them FFA could be useful.
>>37977391>Are they worth saving? That is more your call.Hardly I'd say. Poor finances, poor military, poor amounts of worlds, anti war with Neeran. Seems like an alliance with those would be a drain on us rather than beneficial. Just cannibalize them and strengthen ourselves by capturing some prime new worlds.
>>37977391Hmm, do you have any maps of their territory or are you waiting on us green lighting the territory grab before having Winifred provide the details?
Your inbox is full when you go to review messages. One marked as a priority is from the government, specifically the secretary of state. The Earl has requested that you do not Knight any additional personnel until the government has cleared each one. Requests are temporarily subject to review by intelligence personnel from the Ruling House. You contact a few of the others currently in South Reach to see if they've recieved similar messages. So far none have, though none of them were the commanding officers of larger fleets like you were.Messages from Mr London indicate that the weapons manufacturing plant on Frostback is operational. It was built with room for expansion to meet demand so some of the extra space has been used to set up a small line to produce flightpacks. Few are being built, they're more of a novelty item at present.A handfull of RTS personnel were caught testing them by base jumping from the top of the new business tower on Surakeh. This disturbed more than a few people working for the other business in the building who have complained.Did you want them dismissed from the company, docked pay with a warning, or transferred off world?
>>37978036>[x] docked pay with a warningAdmittedly, it's probably what we would have done if someone gave us a jetpack.
>>37978036>docked pay with a warning>transferred off worldWell they didn't damage anything and mostly risked just their own lives by being retarded.
>>37978036>The Earl has requested that you do not Knight any additional personnel until the government has cleared each one.Did Rufaro cause any trouble while she was home?>docked pay with a warningShould be enough. Maybe we should find a well to sell them as a new kind of extreme sport.
>>37978036>The Earl has requested that you do not Knight any additional personnelI get the feeling a certain someone did not like us knighting someone who was Kavarian.
>>37978174>Did Rufaro cause any trouble while she was home?"Don't look at me sir. The last thing I did was help get my parents packed up to leave for the colonies in the Run. I'm glad for it too after those terrorist attacks in the outer colonies last month.">>37978130>>37978154>>37978174You send off a message to just dock them pay and warn them and others against stunts like that in the future. While you've been away there have been an increasing number of protests taking place on Surakeh. Most of them have been peaceful but security forces have arrested several people attempting to incite crowds at a few of them. Minor cases of vandalism have been reported but no looting as of yet.The main point of contention is that the Governor did not allow previously agreed upon elections for planetary officials citing external interference from SRL deserters and others in light of the terrorist attacks back in the homeworlds. There are also rumors that the House will begin drafting select personnel into the House military. This is untrue but there is little evidence against it and in reality could begin within days or even hours of a decision to do so.The business district where RSS is headquartered is only a few km away from some of the protest areas. RTS would like to know if you have any preference for increases to the defenses. If not they plan to station a few extra IFV's and 80 personnel with phase rifles to guard the property.
>>37978532>terrorist attacks in the outer colonies last month>terrorist attacks back in the homeworldsI must have missed this completely. Did that happen last thread?>RTS would like to know if you have any preference for increases to the defensesSee if we can get them some stun grenades, those should work well against against anybody who might cause trouble without causing too much political fallout.
>>37978036 Make them write a public apology and dock their pay.
>>37978661Heighten security with many riot suppression personnel with more lethally equipped personnel kept out of sight (200/100). While the riots are peaceful and inciting them is the last thing a person wants to do it would be easy for our enemies to use the crowd. Also I forget what protest it was but I remember this both for being funny and ironic: Set up a bunch of free coffee or equivalent in front of the areas you want to lock down to calm the crowd (no scalding hot coffee of course). It was funny reading about that because it was such a surreal scene of protesters and enforcers sharing a cup or two. Tell personnel to smile and be friendly, unless shit goes down.
>>37978532What sort of planetary offices were promised for elected office?I'd say that we should have RTS prepare a field hospital setup, just in case things do get violent or protestors come by. And if we could contact protest leaders and offer to provide a field medical station (for minor stuff like heat exhaustion, cuts, falls and providing care for something like a heart attack until transport arrives, etc) and some security for it to existing protest sites, that could help protect our assets and people if things get ugly.Of course, we'd have to inform the Governor quietly that this would be in the interest of public safety, well being, and to try and diffuse any potential violence.
>>37978876I seen similar stuff happen, its a good tactic against protesters. Can't get too angry against someone if he is offering you coffee or tea.
>>37978876I'll throw support behind this. Well prepared but friendly.
>>37978661>Did that happen last thread?Second last.http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/37067020/#p37067587>A series of coordinated terrorist attacks have taken place in the outer colonies of the House homeworlds. Several HLV's were sabotaged when lifting off with terraforming equipment from the last world to be made habitable in the region. Nearly 300 people were killed as a result of the HLV drops and there will be delays to terraforming projects as a result.>A few thousand colonists on the surface were taken hostage by the same group in the confusion following the attacks. Rob Ecord was sent in leading a special forces team and while they were successful in eliminating the terrorists, 71 civilians were killed. They were able to prevent the detonation of a stasis fusion warhead that would have killed all of the hostages.>Intel believes the use of this device points to the involvement of another House since Jerik-Dremine is still using it's old stockpiles of conventional nukes.>>37978661Stun grenade crates have been made available to security.>>37978771You've sent messages to each of the RTS personnel that you'd appreciate it if they would apologise to those people working for the other companies on site. >>37978876Boarding Shields are being made available though they're not available in huge numbers due to current demand by the PDF.Additional personnel have been assigned.>more lethally equippedSnipers and IFV's? >free coffee That's pretty good.>>37978924>What sort of planetary offices were promised for elected office?Numerous, largely along the lines of representation in a planetary council which would restrict the actions of the House appointed Governor, or the populace electing their own planetary governor. Winifred was open to either of these options when initially negotiating as she knew it would degrade the power of a future political rival. The current Governor is not pleased with this and has been stalling.
>>37979514>Second last.Thank you.>The current Governor is not pleased with this and has been stalling.Well, it seems he'll have to hold the elections eventually, and the longer he's stalling, the worse he'll be off in the future.Maybe suggest it would help if he slowly started the elections for local representative and low level positions? We can't really risk the locals becoming too upset, it tends to have unpleasant results.
>>37979699I agree with the suggestion of limited/tiered elections.Especially because this unrest directly effects RSS interests and employees. More so for all of the locals we employ. It will, hopefully, also buy us some good will with the landowner committee.
>>37979699>>37979896You make sure your message gets to the Governor. Protests could be bad for business and the financial well being of the planet in general.Doing some research it seems that Nyxemi Rna is old guard and is unlikely to negotiate when threatened, certainly not when civil disturbances are involved. Not a good sign in general. You're contacted by the Baron the next day regarding troop and fleet movements."I'm preparing to launch the fleet within the day but it would be noticed by several of our rival Houses were I to command the fleet myself. You have fleet command experience..." This is it, possible promotion to Knight Commander, you can nearly taste it."But not all of our potential future Knight Commanders do." Winifred continues.Oh."Who would you recommend for the position between Captain Palagiologos and Captain Rna?">Alex or Daska for fleet commander?
>>37980361Captain Rna.Daska has been our go-to 'if Reynard bites it' field replacement for several deployments, has the drive and skill to command, and we have recommended her for promotion. In addition, Daska has pulled some damned fine unexpected moves to exploit a chance in battle. While Alex is one of our two wingmen, I'm against playing favorites when it could potentially sour Daska's attitude by skipping over Daska to get Alex a command.
>>37980361Daska has the advantage of more command experience on a larger scale due to being our second so I'd go that way. Alex however has shown that he is good at commanding as well. Either would be a good choice but Daska is in the leading for now.
>>37980361>>Alex or Daska for fleet commander?"Both of them are excellent commanders, and, from what I've seen, equally competent diplomats if the situation calls for it.It probably comes down to the question if the members of House Fle'rov in the regioins of interest to us would react better to a Dro'all, or a Human, when the time comes to negotiating the terms of their... whatever you want to call it."
>>37980361Daska is better in the fleet, but I think Alex might have more experience with ground ops, which would be important because we'd want to capture as much ground territory as possible before someone else butts in. Incidentally, they shkuld proably bring along a bunch of HAGs to help rape group troops without obviously dragging along an armors division.
"Both of them are excellent commanders, and, from what I've seen, equally competent diplomats if the situation calls for it. Ultimately I would have to say Daska Rna.""Noted." You suggest that the fleet take along a few HAG's for support of any planetary assault should they need fire support. "We have a small number but if you can provide more before the fleet's deployment we'll take them."A quick message to London has a pair of them diverted. You change topics slightly while still on the line. "Sir is there any chance you could talk the Governor into allowing limited elections, even at lower levels of government?" "No. I've tried and was informed that I'd assisted enough in making sure the Governor was in this mess. By extension you were part of that as well if I recall."The phrase it 'seemed like a good idea at the time' suddenly comes to mind. "The Governor has powerful backers among the established nobility. They may have been planning to break the new colony worlds of any republican ideology in the long run but I can't be certain. On that topic, we have two thousand power cell armor equipped marines. Most will be deploying with the fleet. As you're on better terms with the Governor than I am I'm assigning the remainder to you. What's the minimum number you'll need should the protests get out of hand?"Sonia has 40 Marines with power cell armor.RTS has managed to get hold of a dozen suits from salvage and retired SRL mercs. How many more do you need the fleet to leave behind?
>>37981129>How many more do you need the fleet to leave behind? The equivalent of one present-day squad? Should be around 10 soldiers.
>>37981129"Out of innocent curiosity, how many such troopers does the Governor command?"
>>37981129"A hundred should do if, preferably two hundred. I can bulk that up myself with some of my own Marines and some RTS security personal should the need call for it."
>>37981291>Should be around 10 soldiers.Sorry, thought it was maximum of 40 marines we get to pick.I agree with >>37981395100 should be enough.
>>37981129>As you're on better terms with the Governor than I am I'm assigning the remainder to you. What's the minimum number you'll need should the protests get out of hand?"What would we be expected to keep safe from protests?
>>37981395>>37981461>>37981575Off the top of my head:RSS ammo facility (don't want splinter ammo and our rifles being turned on J-D folks)Spaceports?HLV production? And other arms manufacturing sites.
>>37981359"Out of innocent curiosity, how many such troopers does the Governor command?""Between 40 and 60. This was despite attempts by the navy to keep such equipment reserved for use by our Marines. There are also 4 Knights each with medium power armor. Half are stationed in the capital at any given time. I don't know how many PDF or other soldiers the Governor has at their disposal.">>37981461>Sorry, thought it was maximum of 40 marines we get to pick.No those are the ones assigned to Sonia's Command squad at present.>>37981575>What would we be expected to keep safe from protests? You'd be expected to help minimise collateral damage since power cell armor is effectively immune to all but the most dangerous small arms. 2 votes for approximately 100
>>37981858>You'd be expected to help minimise collateral damage since power cell armor is effectively immune to all but the most dangerous small arms. Can we get them equipped with grenade launchers for stun grenades, and stun batons? There should be little need for their regular loadout.
>>37981129>"No. I've tried and was informed that I'd assisted enough in making sure the Governor was in this mess. One second, so Winifred negotiated with them and came to the agreement that they will be allowed to vote, and then the Governor just decides to ignore that?Doesn't it have consequences to ignore something like that in the dominion?
>>37982316I imagine it is more likely that there are more consequences to ignore something like that near a certain woman with the skills and equipment to ghost or capture an old Dro'all...
That slow typing guy I was hoping to see you after working on the timeline for this the past weeks. You currently have the oldest and longest (by time) quest still running, not counting Totemist quest but it goes through long hiatus and only comes back sporadically. Congratulations.

>>37982781He moved to 8-chan. and is running a thread right now
>>37983022>>37983025Curious, I don't understand why could they do that.
>>37983104INH was talking about it for awhile due to the slow speed of the quest and low amount of posters
>>37982719Wasn't there a 40k one still going? Rogue trader / Privateer quest? Something like that, I thought I saw it last month.Either way thanks.>>37982316The consequences are upset civilians and a situation another House might take advantage of. Or could if the Houses weren't largely blocked from openly attacking one another due to the larger war. With things winding up there are some equipment issues to take care of. Your new medium jump jet power armor can't be as effectively camouflaged as your baseline Recon armor. It's heavier in general, louder when moving normally and ascends to banshee like noise levels when the jumpjets are active. Your fighting style of sneaking in close while the enemy cant see you and stabbing them with your HF-blade are simply not as effective with this larger suit. Likewise you're not as agile with the added bulk. It's tough and the entire thing is modular enough to swap out parts for faster repairs but you're a bigger target for anti-tank weapons now.Ecord uses his light jump jet suit to run and gun, bringing superior firepower to bear quickly enough that most targets have little time to shoot back.Marines with medium power armor or power cell armor (though lacking jumpjets) will often make use of boarding shields if they know they're going to be a target. Alternatively they just stick with their primary weapon and make use of the available cover and terrain like any soldier. What sort of fighting style are you looking to use when equipped with a medium jump jet as opposed to Recon suit?
>>37983333>Privateer questIt started on March 2012 and you could say that its on New Game Plus.
>>37983333>What sort of fighting style are you looking to use when equipped with a medium jump jet as opposed to Recon suit?Raiding tactics. Hit hard, hit fast and leave before someone decided to bring the pain to us.
>>37983333Let try the marines style and get a boarding shield
>>37983333>stabbing them with your HF-blade are simply not as effective with this larger suit.Could we upgrade our HF-blade to a HF-sword?
>>37983333>>37983490>>37983520Hey how about we get a weapon mounted, or shoulder mounted, shield so we can still effectively use the guns/both hands easily. That way it could also be lower profile/less cumbersome than a simple giant rectangle with handle? could be a silly idea too. So we can still sneak around but less dexterously and slower?
>>37982316This reminds me of this:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2014_Hong_Kong_protests
>>37983490>>37983520If we are going shield would it be possible to make a custom shield? I was thinking a shield with an integrated Reynard Mass Driver into it. So when could shield ourselves and just like that turn it a bit and spray our enemys with bullets. Would open up our other arm for additional armament as well
>>37983333Privateer was rebooted due to some issues. Currently dead until equipment can be replaced. What about going a bit over the Reynard and converting the suit into a monstrosity of dakka and armor like pic related? Guard Captain had that fun shoulder phase weapon turret on his medium armor. Could we potentially scale that up to a carbine version of our mass driver or a similar weapon?
>>37983333Never found anything that quite looked like what I was going for the current armor.>>37983484>>37983579>Could we upgrade our HF-blade to a HF-sword?Yes. You could go with one along the lines of a broadsword, or a blade that extends out of the suit's arm similar to Adam Jensen in Deus Ex.For those interested the Matryoshka armor can in fact swap out the jump jets for other equipment. Like more weapons. Eventually you'll be able to get the option to equip independently targeting mini turrets.>>37983694>Guard Captain had that fun shoulder phase weapon turret on his medium armor. Could we potentially scale that up to a carbine version of our mass driver or a similar weapon?Yes but not right away. You can have Guncannon style over the shoulder weapons but their targeting options are still a bit limited at this stage.
>>37983670I was thinking something like this, >inb4 I can't into paint.
>>37983861could we get the gun shield so the weapon would be held like the right side gun in your pic with only the barrels showing or hatches to protect the barrels when not firing
>>37983882I kinda get what you're going for but with that particular design... If you have to hold the shield sideways to fire it that defeats the point of the shield in the first place, that being protection. Also with two handholds? Or were you thinking of something mounted on the forearm or shoulder? That makes a little more sense.
>>37984154Also what he said >>37984006
>>37980361>Nyxemi Rna is old guard and is unlikely to negotiate when>RnaMaybe Daska could help with this? They're from the same family. With a bit of luck she's his favourite niece, or granddaughter.
>>37984006So an under-slung gun on the left arm? With a shield mounted on the front? It would give us Dakka and cover at the same time. I'm game for it.
>>37983861Is that a... Is that a dick cannon with a smiley on the top? That aside a Phase Guncannon on our shoulder would be awesome. Then we would not have to bring a stun gun with us anymore since that could take care of it. Combine it the Deus Ex style extendable sword, with our trusty blade as a backup, and which ever else weapon we want in our still free hand and we are decked to murder.>>37984154Was thinking mounted but detachable. That way we wont accidentally drop it but can still get rid of it if it get's in the way and ofcourse a secondary explosive removal should the detach mechanic fuzz up.. I was toying with the idea of having it shooting from the front but that would leave a hole in the front for pesky bullets and the like to get in at. I was bringing the design up so it would serve a purpose besides bullet sponge for heavy ordnance should the need call for it.
>>37984262Ahh, makes sense.
>>37983670>If we are going shield would it be possible to make a custom shield?Alex knows a guy.>>37984154>If you have to hold the shield sideways to fire it that defeats the point of the shield in the first place, that being protection. This was my concern, though I'm assuming that's what the gun in your other hand is for when you need to block.>>37984262>I was toying with the idea of having it shooting from the front but that would leave a hole in the front for pesky bullets and the like to get in at.This always bugged me about the various shields the Gyan has.>>37984262I don't believe that's a crotch gun but I've been wrong about these things in the past.>>37983649>shoulder mounted, shieldThat's another option. There are folding shields available made up of several sections that deploy and can be mounted on the forearm or elsewhere then deployed as needed. They're not as tough but can still be handy. A shield with weapon attachment options has been ordered, you can use a normal Republic model shield until it arrives. Likewise it will take some time for the custom weapon mounts to be built to swap in for the jump jets. New melee weapon added: Extendable HF blade! For the time being when operating using shield and jump jets, will you be sticking to rifles / heavy weapons like a Marine and using the jets to scoot? Or using cover provided by the shield plus your speed to get into melee range?
>>37984885Let use the reynard rifle
>>37984885Stay at range if possible and use the jets to scoot. Melee was our approach before because we almost always had the element of surprise by being stealthed and because it was silent.
>>37984885rifles/heavy weapons.Does the suit allow dual wielding of smaller rifles? Or would that be an upgrade for later?
So if we want to get a gun shield I think we could use the Reynard Rifle as the gun component just modified to be attached to the underside of the power armor that way it can still give cover while firing and if we drop the shield we still have the rifle and a free hand.
So are we going to let the Governor try and provoke violent protest to crack down on the population or do we try and pull a Reynard by coming out with a statement that confuses everyone and potentially prevents a bad situation?Possibly by calling for the Governor to conduct at least some of the lower level elections? At the very least, we should see how the RSS employees are feeling. There must be some talk going on, and we should have a policy where complaints and other reports don't result in punitive measures against the person filing the complaint/suggestion/incident report
>>37985089>Does the suit allow dual wielding of smaller rifles? Or would that be an upgrade for later?Yes, though as in any case of using a rifle with 1 hand it can be a bit awkward.Sonia is relatively proficient with using silenced carbines 1 handed but they're fairly balanced weapons. The Reynard repulsor rifle with its large magazine may be a bit too front heavy to pull it off easily. Even with the strength of a suit of power armor it might be a bit unwieldy. It'd be like trying to 1 hand a bolter.>>37985119Yes, I suppose the tech boys could modify up an under arm Reynard rifle, though it'd be chopping even more length off the weapon and would restrict you to 1 ammo type. The fleet jumps out with Daksa in command the next morning. Some of the other officers are a little concerned about maintaining patrols through House space while so much of the fleet is away. Things on the surface aren't really getting much worse but aren't improving.Late the in the day a distress signal comes in from one of the mining outposts in another system. The same one where the military's modular station was partially destroyed years ago. The local mining industry that has moved in since then is too valuable to shut down even with the extra raids taking place. The distress signal indicated a trio of ships were attacking them but couldn't get a solid ID due to jamming. You have the following ships available at Surakeh:12x Battlecruisers (2 under repair)14x Light Cruisers8x Smuggler Frigate upgrade48x attack corvettes (3 training squadrons, 1 regular forces sq)Available RTS forces4x Firestorm II FRGWhat ships do you send to respond?
>>37985787Squadron of Corvettes(Training), 6 Cruisers and two BattleCruisers
>>37985787>What ships do you send to respond?2 BC3 LC2 Frigates12 Corvettes (6 training , 6 regular)
>>37985787One training and the regular corvette squadron, two battle cruisers and four light cruisers. The rational being that the corvettes could use the experience, and can swarm larger ships and have the speed to pursue. two battle cruisers in case all 3 enemies are a larger class, just to be able to stand against them with support, and the light cruisers to round out the deployment. Its potentially alot of forces we're committing but it could be a trap, and either way overwhelm force reduces potential damage we may receive. That and we should be able to wrap this up before the big shindig. Keep our personal forces and smuggler frigates free because they could be effective as a Rapid reaction force if this is to draw attention elsewhere, and enough of everything else behind to put up a fight. I could be crazy, feel free to criticize.
>>37985966so basically this >>37985888 but more
>>37985787Also while the suit is less stealthy it still has stealth and camo right? So maybe no ninjaing through the vents anymore but if we move carefully and aren't too clumsy we can still sleuth and be an ambush predator right?
Hey TSTG, quick question. What happens if two shields hit each other? And what happens if ship hits shield?
>>37986674Potentially.You send out a pair of Battlecruisers, 4 light cruisers and a corvette training squadron as backup. A few more experienced corvette pilots are sent along as well, bulking up their numbers to 16. The ships are gone for a few hours chasing the small band of pirates and driving them off. Before they return the rest of the fleet are momentarily scared half to death by an unscheduled arrival. A Heavy transport with a South Reach League IFF jumps in and is momentarily mistaken by sensors to be a Warlord Super Heavy due to the mass of its cargo.Had it been real the ship could have caused serious trouble for the fleet and orbital defenses, even if you hadn't sent that other out out to chase pirates. After everything is cleared up security wise they're cleared to make use of the RSS heavy cruiser dock for emergency repairs. It seems they've escaped after having been caught in the cross fire between two Warlord fleets. Still suspicious a few customs officials are sent aboard to check the vessel for signs of smuggling compartments. Pirates and raiders in other systems are continuing to cause problems when news breaks that House Fle'rov will be disbanded. Even those Houses nominally against the war effort are quick to condemn the actions of the accused House. A day into the capture operations you begin to see reports that Daska's fleet has been operating largely unopposed. What resistance they've faced has been minimal or more passive in the form of planetary shields. It helps that House Fle'rov territory is being bombarded with propaganda broadcasts on nearly every channel not reserved for the military telling the populace to surrender. Then you get a message from Winifred. The Baron has been called away due to a development regarding one of your special projects. You assume it the cloaking project but she refuses to specify and soon departs with her command ship and a few escorts. You're in command of the space forces in her absence.
>>37987180Well, lets be vigilant, make sure patrols are big or fast enough not to get into trouble, tighten up security in light of local instabilities (without pissing off civvies too much) and pray for her to get back before Surkesh and local pirates/houses blow up on us. Eh, who am I kidding, we're gonna need to open a bar car the Winchester on our ship.
>>37987180To make matter worse things on Surakeh soon escalate. A bombing supposedly matching those once carried out by the FPL terrorist organisation kills three people and wounds twenty others near the capital. The targets are believed to be government employees, mostly nobles working in minor positions that have moved here from the House Homeworlds. Two nobles are dead with the remainder simply being local civilians who happened to be nearby. The Governor immediately imposes martial law and a curfew. Where there is minimal crack down on the protesters other than calls for them to disperse, large scale arrests elsewhere begin targeting suspected terrorists. You're soon contacted by London when your intel assets learn the names of those picked up. Most major land owners that are not immigrants from the House homeworlds have been arrested. A few of the native born land and business owners haven't been picked up yet but minimal research is needed to find out that they're supporters of the Governor. "If they're tried for treason and convicted they'll be stripped of their land and titles." London informs you."Who gets their land then, the Governor?""No, the House does. The rest of the planet was already claimed by the House when the planet was first captured. Plenty of the industrialised areas were awarded to Winifred and her Knights as you know, but the majority was sold to the established nobility within Jerik-Dremine. Other than the territories held in reserve to be awarded in to future Knights the only land left is that belonging to the Surakeh landowners Committee.">What do? See you in the morning!
>>37987824AWW SHIT, and have a good night
>>37986984>Hey TSTG, quick question. What happens if two shields hit each other? They'll take kinetic damage and probably bounce off or deflect a bit. Unless their relative velocity is less than a couple hundred kph then they'll pass through each other.>And what happens if ship hits shield?Same as if it had hit a similar shaped solid object. Impact damage to both the ship and shield. Note that Shields are not perfectly rigid, they can deform and buckle when hit with enough energy. Usually this is shortly before they collapse.
>>37988397Ah, alright. I thought a weapon that shot beams of shield could be effective but it was a long shot.
>>37987824Well, it seems like it's time to step in. Send a message to the governor that we would like to assist in the control of the populous and station a battleship in orbit with treaty safe guns downward. Then ask if the good governor if we could assist in the investagations and trials in as many words.
>>37987824Ok, so this is likely the Governor cleaning house and getting rid of his opposition, even the bombings could be false flag operations to lend legitimacy, but it could also be the case, that some our all of those nobles actually were conspiring. As such we should have our intel people imvestigate matters and get our legal staff to stall the process (not taking sides neccessarily, mostly stalling at first) to see if the governor is being a dick or if he is actually doing his work.
>>37987824>What do?>Most major land owners that are not immigrantsSee if we can get them a good legal team anonymously?
>>37989527it seems more than conveniently suspicious that almost every native landholder that doesn't support the governor is quickly arrested. There are three conclusions I can come up with. Governor just felt like arresting them as an excuse, Governor had evidence of plot but let it happen for martial law excuse, or Governor false flagged the shit out of this.As this event waited until Winifred was gone, targeted nobodies and civilians, and the protests haven't been knee-jerk dispersed by force?I'm calling a false flag operation.Options I'm seeing:Lock down the planet. Force the Governor to come to us as Fleet locks down all movement to/from Surekah's surface and the stations. Don't let those terrorists escape, search everywhere for bombs, and make the Governor's smooth little grab grind everything to a halt and throw the old Dro'all off his plans. Between our current command of fleet assets and RSS assets, it should be fairly simple for a complete or near-complete lockdown.or the full Reynard option. Get a bunch of news cameras and start talking in an attempt to calm the situation but then somehow move onto "The odds of every native land owner that doesn't support the governor being involved in a FPL plot that didn't really do anything seems much smaller than say, the Governor ordering a false flag bombing in order to seize the remaining land the House hasn't claimed, barring the land that the Governor's supporters hold, of course."or simply point out on planetary broadcast that the Governor missed some native land owners while rounding all of them up for execution. (his supporters)All in all, this Governor is confirming that I dislike him greatly.
The simple option here would be to just ask the Governor about this. Heck, he might be doing this under orders from the Earl to ensure that the planet falls fully under JD rule for all we know.
>>37993019If the Earl was behind this, I feel like the timing would be different and we'd have at least gotten a cryptic 'nothing stupid' message from someone higher ranking. And this little action is just going to make FPL shit resurgent. This planet fought against a damned bio weapon the warlords deployed.Speaking of warlords... we should probably contact the captain of that ship if it is still in for repairs. Make sure their crew aren't planetside and in danger of being a Governor scapegoat.
>>37992766Option 4: Blackmail. Basically, use our intelligence sources to figure out what happened (our buisness partners were almost certainly framed). Then schedule a meeting with the governor and inform him that this shit is not going to fly. Unfortunately, we now need someone to blame for his shenanigans, but fortunately we also have a house that is guilty of a whole lot of other things and who we had a military engagement with very recently. So we frame them for retaliation.
You put out messages to the fleet and get everyone to active duty status. Any crew on shore leave are recalled effective immediately. >and station a battleship in orbit with treaty safe guns downward. Done, though keep in mind that if firing into a city there will be collateral damage."How are things ground side?" you ask Tes'us upon reaching the bridge."It did not take people long to figure out what's going on with the arrests. Protests have broken out into riots in five major population centers but most are centered on the capital."You figured more cities would have been affected."A great deal of people in the capital were visiting from elsewhere on the planet.">See if we can get them a good legal team anonymously? You hire some via one of the information brokers on Tourta. It seems Kyriss Valo was already preparing to send some support along those lines.>have our intel people investigate mattersThis is going to be difficult given martial law being imposed and widespread association with the FPL during the uprising against the Warlords.London sends you a message warning about Saloud Koris whose factory refurbishes starfighters and shuttles for RSS. He did blow up his own factory once and could be a target of future arrests. The fact that he hasn't been picked up yet may be a sign of the Governor's unwillingness to meddle with RSS assets.>we should probably contact the captain of that ship if it is still in for repairs. They're still undergoing repairs. It could take the rest of the week.>Make sure their crew aren't planetside and in danger of being a Governor scapegoat. They are not. None of them were cleared to leave the station they're currently on. Customs still doesn't entirely trust them.
>ask if the good governor if we could assist in the investigations and trials in as many words."That will be unnecessary Captain, we have more than adequate personnel to conduct the investigation. However it would be helpful were you to round up or disperse the riots in the capital. There are only a few tens of thousands, I'm sure experienced soldiers would be able to remove them from the city.">>37993019>The simple option here would be to just ask the Governor about this. How would you like to respond?
>>37994874"Evening Governor, see I can't help but notice you have arrested several people whom are prominent landowners. In doing so you've also managed to agitate the population rather than calming them down. Any specific reason for doing this that I should be aware of?"
>>37994874>How would you like to respond? It's obvious that suppressing the protests will just cause trouble and escalate things more quickly.Would he be willing to set a few parks and other public spaces aside for them to hold rallies and protests at?That way there would be less danger to important installations, and people still get the chance to vent their anger.
>>37994874How much time elapsed between the bombing and the arrests?I would express concern that so many of our business partners have been so quickly arrested, and are somewhat concerned that the evidence against them might be fabricated... by House Fle'rov of course, in an attempt to force us to recall the fleet that is currently conquering their planets.Basically, subtly call him on his bullshit while offering him a way out.
>>37994853>Saloud KorisContact Koris and request his permission to deploy RTS/Fleet assets to protect his factory before the Governor decides to deploy PDF. If Koris is willing, getting him off the planet and onto Sonia's ship for the duration of this may be for the best.>Splinter Ammo & Reynard Rifle factoryWe need to deploy fleet forces immediately to secure the weapons and munitions and move them off-world. Reduced pay vacation for employees for the duration of this crisis? It is a priority that these weapons and munitions do not fall into the hands of rioters or FPL agents.>>37994874>response to Governor"Without a substantial presence in the investigations I can not in good faith deploy my men to assist, Governor."
>>37995033Well, Dashka is conquering their planets, maybe she could "recover" some data supporting this? She does owe us a favor or two for getting her the command, and if we have "evidence" of that it will be very difficult for the governor to proceed with his frame up.
London issues the order for Factory shut down and one of the LST's land to begin evacuating the munitions. The marines that will be remaining behind begin to fortify the factory. Koris is glad for the offer. He had hoped to leave the planet until things calmed down but it would have looked bad if he were arrested at the spaceport. RTS lands troops to guard the vehicle assembly lines.>>37994874"Without a substantial presence in the investigations I can not in good faith deploy my men to assist, Governor.Besides, it's obvious that suppressing the protests will just cause trouble and escalate things more quickly. Would you be willing to set a few parks and other public spaces aside for them to hold rallies and protests at? That way there would be less danger to important installations, and people still get the chance to vent their anger.""They're already rioting and causing property damage Captain. Do you really think they'll simply go where we tell them to?"Well some of them might. And it could help separate out any remaining peaceful protesters reducing the size of the riots."I still take the suggestion under advisement."You decide to press ahead while you still have the Governor on the line. "I can't help but notice you have arrested several people whom are prominent landowners. In doing so you've also managed to agitate the population rather than calming them down. Any specific reason for doing this that I should be aware of?""They're the most financially well place to assist potential terrorists on planet and several of them may have funded such organisations in the past. As they have been known to conspire as a group against potential interests of the House they are all implicated. I've avoided involving your Mr London in this despite his... involvement with the group in an effort to ensure the smooth operation of the orbital industries."
The evidence doesn't seem very substantial which you are sure to point out."You have contacts with House Veritas do you not Captain? Which is itself a rebranded form of the FPL. Shouldn't you be more concerned about your career than the well being of a few dozen traitors?""Is that a threat Governor?"Rna takes a moment before replying. "No. You should be using those contacts to find who is responsible for the bombing and any other subterfuge the FPL may be involved in here so we can speed up our legal proceedings.">Anything else to add? If not what are your orders?Do you want to initiate a blockade of Surakeh as has been suggested by 1 anon?
>>37995925"I took a quick peek at those arrests and could not help but notice that there where some who where not arrested. People who are connected to you in one way or another. I take it their arrest is pending or would you prefer if I sent out some people to pick them up right now?"If he is going to be hard and threaten us then we can be hard to. Arresting the landowners associated to him might reveal something interesting and it could be seen as him protecting his own assets rather than further the investigation.A blockade seems a bit far for the moment.
>>37995925I'm in favor of framing this on house Fle'rov. Have Daska "acquire" evidence that they are behind the bombing and were hoping to frame some local nobles in order to cause sufficient disruption that we'd have to recall our fleet. Give the governor the results of our investigation, and if he seems hesitant leak it to the media.
>>37995925>Do you want to initiate a blockade of Surakeh as has been suggested by 1 anon?I think increased checks before anybody is allowed to travel from or to the planet should be enough.> If not what are your orders?Have somebody bring us future aspirin. I have a feeling we'll need it.Then call a meeting with London, Koris, and somebody who's versed in J-D politics. This is a minefield of interests.
>>37995876"So you have no evidence and the arrests are entirely political in an attempt to eliminate those that dare to have interests other than surrendering their land to the House?"Deploy a team to get London off-world.Once our people are off the surface, blockade? The Governor should be retiring soon, iirc. He likely will get a bonus for seizing the lands of these landholders and vanish back to the homeworlds to retire. Meanwhile, Surekah is left in turmoil by a resurgent FPL, sabotaging Winifred's attempts to make anything useful out of Surekah. The question is how do we neutralize the PDF and find a legal basis for declaring the Governor incompetent or a traitor to the House himself by inciting unrest and conspiracy to frame land owners?
>>37996134...What if we contact Veritas and ask for evidence that the Governor is part of an FPL cell?
>>37996186I think that would not be a prudent course of action either.
>>37996220Do you disagree with my assessment of what the Governor is doing?>>37996118He seems to have planned this out to screw us in both the short and long term and is now threatening both our employee and Sonia. Are we just going to roll over and take it? Try to convince someone that thinks they have the upper hand to plaster a paper-thin plot like in >>37996095 ?
>>37996186Nah, get Daska to find evidence that house Fer'lov planted the bomb and was trying to frame certain land owners in such a way that an outside observer would assume that the governor is mounting an illconsidered and illegal frame job and causing riots, arguments between the Baron and the governor and a recall of the fleet. They pushed things ahead when the baron left the planet, and didn't manage to finish the frame up.Offer him a way out, and if he doesn't take it, leak it to the media and make it virtually impossible to convict our friends.
>>37996118>>37996186>>37996220>>37996273>>37996323If we could get the Governor demoted from his position for incompetence then that would be great. However we should thread carefully as it is right now. If we misstep it might cost us more than we'd like. We should do some quick investigation first and foremost. Try to gain some intel from Veritas about terrorists. Into about the arrested landowners as well as those who where not arrested. If we can form a link between the landowners not arrested and illegal actions then we got the Governor in a trap and can deal with him more smoothly. If the situation escalates further we can probably temporarily replace the Governor due to his inability to control the situation. Then it will be much easier to do most things.
>>37996323the problem I see with the plan of offering the Governor a 'way out' is that he doesn't want a way out. From his perspective he is about to take out his political enemies in the arrested land owners, can handle the riots, and has us by the proverbial balls. Why would he take a way out that means he doesn't win anything and actually loses what we can imagine to be a main goal of his?
"I took a quick peek at those arrests and could not help but notice that there where some who where not arrested. People who are connected to you in one way or another. I take it their arrest is pending or would you prefer if I sent out some people to pick them up right now?""I shouldn't have to remind you about the value of informants. They've provided considerable information and other services in return for amnesty. They're currently under my protection."You wonder if they really did provide any info or were just willing to pay more in the way of bribes and take orders from the House.>>37996095>I'm in favor of framing this on house Fle'rov. Have Daska "acquire" evidence that they are behind the bombing and were hoping to frame some local nobles in order to cause sufficient disruption that we'd have to recall our fleet. Give the governor the results of our investigation, and if he seems hesitant leak it to the media. You contact Daska on a secure channel to see about this."What you're asking isn't easy Sonia. You're asking me to go against a family member, even if they are acting like an ass. The Governor wouldn't do this without a long term plan in mind or some sort of exit strategy.""What would it take to convince you to help me?""170 million and a small plot of land on Rioja under a different name. Or a dozen of the next model of Assault corvette in place of the money.""I only build those for the military." You point out."Which is why they cost so much on the black market. If you want me to help you with this I need to survive the in-family backlash should it come out."Well you have the option now.>>37996099>increased checks [for] travel from or to the planetImplemented barring any objections>Then call a meeting with London, Koris, and somebody who's versed in J-D politics. This is a minefield of interests. At which point Alex walks through the door. "Permission to come aboard."
Let's just stealth assassinate the governor.
"Alex! Permission granted. Wait, aren't you deployed with the fleet?" You notice he's changed his appearance somewhat. Is he trying to grow a moustache?"The Baron recalled me but it took some time to get back. Said you might need a hand. Where is she, and what the hell is going on down there?"He looks over at a news feed one of the operations officers has open showing the tried but true use of molotov cocktails to disrupt riot police formations. there is talk over some of the public channels about the remaining peaceful protesters relocating to some of the parks indicated by the government but most seem to think it's a trap and that they'll be arrested if in smaller numbers. Do we have the authority in a rapidly deteriorating situation as the commander of all remaining military forces to take control of the government directly through the martial law and if he resists, issue an arrest warrent for the govenor and maybe a bounty?
>>37995033>>37995244I like this proposal.Personally I think that if we can, we should try to investigate to get the governor removed for abusing his position, should we find enough evidence. In case we don't manage to do this however, we should also prepare the above suggestion so that even if we are unsuccessful in removing him, we can stop him from seizing all that land by "proving" that it is a setup by Fle'rov to weaken us.
>>37997215>Trying to sort out where exactly you guys want to go with this. Not having much luck.I think it would help to get some feel for the legality at work here, i.e. how much within his rights is the governor with what he's doing (assuming that the arrested people actually are terrorists) and how badly could it blow up in his face? (if we can prove that they are not)Also what are our rights with Winifred away and us in command of her forces? Have these rights been changed by the declaration of martial law?
>>37997215I'm a little late to the party, but I am here!I think this >>37997257 is a good idea for any information would be good and if it turns out it isn't the FPL or anyone they know that is just another piece of information that can be used.I agree with >>37997713 that building a case that it's actually House Fle'rov elements working against the house would be a good plan in case we can't get information on if it was the governor or someone else. I would be willing to either pay daska or have some ships go missing due to "pirates".It would be interesting to see if there was actually someone else behind it.Also it has come to my attention....that Daska is really working on her own little fleet isn't she? A dozen Assault corvettes? She bought a few ships we salvaged already. It looks like Daska has spent more time dealing with the Black market than we have as well....
>>37995033>How much time elapsed between the bombing and the arrests?A couple of hours.>>37997257>The current consensus is that there is no consensus.I'm glad we could all agree on that.>For I support getting information from Veritas as well as trying to get what information we can from the arrested people and the none arrested landowners. You put out a call to your contacts in House Veritas. All the Terraforming projects seem to be remaining on schedule despite some of the sabotage elsewhere. The Harmen family want this work done as soon as possible so they can claim the other planets they'll be getting in compensation. The same people who built that Arcology for Alex RSS landed on Frostback have sold some to be deployed to the new colony worlds. With these the two Houses have begun to solidify their claims on the respective planets. Captain Rodiel seems genuinely surprised when you ask about remaining FPL terrorist cells that might still be active on Surakeh. "We recalled as many people as possible to strengthen out central positions when the Warlords were driven out but it was inevitable that some cells would remain behind. We know of a few sleeper cells on some Dominion worlds that send occasional reports. If we were to tell them to disband they would likely ignore it. We've maintained contact in the event other Houses should declare war on us at which point they'll be needed again.""Are there any on Surakeh specifically?""I don't know. Most of our actual agents died in the bio weapon attacks or the subsequent purge. It wasn't uncommon for most agents to start up multiple compartmentalized cells that couldn't be directly traced back to us. We don't know." "If there were cells still active where would you place them?" You ask. "What groups of people? Would they have been involved in the bombing?"
>>37997979if there was a FPL cell on Surekah, would they be prominent members of an opposition group to the Governor, or position themselves in the Governor's favor to go for a decapitation strike later?
>>37997979"The bombing could have been anyone. We didn't exactly recruit people for their discretion, more the will to act so it is possible. As for where or who the best choice is the planetary militia. They're separate from your PDF which answers to the Governor."The militia is loyal to Winifred who made the electoral government deal with them... they're probably waiting for her orders or a promise of amnesty should they move against the Governor. At the same time they won't wait forever if civilians start getting killed en masse by the PDF.>>37998164"I can't say. It would take serious fortitude to pull off a major back stab and we generally are against direct recruitment of public figures for fear it might compromise their position. Our people might still make contact with them for funding and the like if desperate."Once Mr Koris and London arrive aboard the group of you discuss the situation now that Alex is up to speed with things. "I think it would help to get some feel for the legality at work here, i.e. how much within his rights is the governor with what he's doing, and how badly could it blow up in his face?""Well a Planetary Governor effectively has unlimited power on worlds they control, though they still have to work within the law. They need an excuse to do certain things, such as appropriating property or arresting nobles. There are very broad powers for maintaining public order but again you can't just declare martial law or conduct mass arrests without an excuse. Once they have that excuse they can do whatever the hell they want.""What if the people arrested aren't terrorists?""Well since they're nobles the governor will have to make some sort of public apology and provide restitution or face censure. If it turns out the governor faked the information he would be sacked by the Earl and replaced with a more sympathetic figure to help protect the image of the House and repair local relations. ...Oh I just had a bad idea."
"What is it?""If the land owners had already been executed for treason and their property taken before the truth came out the Earl could still sack the Governor but would have no need to give the land back to people who were dead."That's not good."What are our rights with Winifred away and us in command of her forces? Have these rights been changed by the declaration of martial law?""They shouldn't be any different. A Baron and a Governor are supposed to keep each other in check. If a Governor gets out of hand the Baron deals with them. If there are problems with a Baron the Governor and other officials in the House can starve out their space fleets by appropriating their orbital platofrms. Not easy but doable."
>>37998474Who is going to conduct the investigation of that bombing? The police? PDF?We should probably get in touch with them.

>>37998440>"Well a Planetary Governor effectively has unlimited power on worlds they control, though they still have to work within the law. They need an excuse to do certain things, such as appropriating property or arresting nobles. There are very broad powers for maintaining public order but again you can't just declare martial law or conduct mass arrests without an excuse. Once they have that excuse they can do whatever the hell they want."If we "escalated" the situation by introducing possible foreign involvement of some sort, would we be able to move this from the hands of the governor to, say, the Earl or someone else off-planet in order to get the accused land-holders off planet and out of the reach of the governor, to give the time for a fair trial?Basically I'd consider bumping this up the chain of command to avoid the worst political fallout either way.
So if we hesitate, these people are almost certainly dead.People wanted more ground action stuff, right? 3-man Recon Decapitation force to remove the Governor and install Alex for a temp to end the fighting?Unless we'd rather be paralyzed with fear and don't care about a likely FPL resurgence on Surekah.
>>37998948Well, time to launch our own investigation. Does the information broker on Tourta have anything that could help us?>As for where or who the best choice is the planetary militiaDo they keep track of their members? Has anybody suspicious gone missing since this happened?
>>37999091"Their records and personal information are locked down tight sir." Reports one of your men. "They're prepared for action by hackers or intelligence forces."Valeri points out that he and Rufaro could likely kidnap one of those nobles who have received amnesty and are under the Governor's protection. It would be one way to see what that information is.>>37999241>If we "escalated" the situation by introducing possible foreign involvement of some sort, would we be able to move this from the hands of the governor to, say, the Earl or someone else off-planet in order to get the accused land-holders off planet and out of the reach of the governor, to give the time for a fair trial?Unlikely. This would be easier if closer to the Homeworlds. >Basically I'd consider bumping this up the chain of command to avoid the worst political fallout either way.The chain of command in South Reach ends with Winifred who is unavailable.>>37999349>So if we hesitate, these people are almost certainly dead. It's a possibility.>3-man Recon Decapitation force to remove the GovernorAnd that is an option. You do have others. You could send the information you've collected to the media. With or without extra into your bodyguards could get via kidnapping. This could trigger additional riots and uprisings or result in the Governor being forced to stand down.Overthrow the Governor more publicly. Launch a planetary assault, storm their residence and place the governor in custody before the rest of the PDF can catch on.Contact the militia and authorize them to overthrow the Governor, promising protection. Staying out of the Governor's way, or offering to do so for a price, will ensure that the House gains more land and long term direct control over Surakeh. This will also increase the income of the House which it can direct towards projects (like terraforming) or the war effort. People you know will end up dead as a result.
Wait, did we send a message to Commander Winifred about the deteriorating situation? Could we ask her to operate under her full authority as baron and stop the govenor?
>>37999632I believe she was called away to see to a Black Ops research project.
>>37999510>Staying out of the Governor's wayThis may be the better option. If we get more control of Surakeh then perhaps we can finally begin drafting people from there. More manpower is something we really need after all. I support kidnapping of a landowner for damming information on the Governor. We then wait out the storm until riots have calmed down and the House gains it's new land. When that is done we could release the new info to the media and the public so they will know the Governor killed people to gain their land. This would force him away from the planet no doubt but would still cash the House all of that sweet land. Sure people will die but we've meet them what, one or two times?
>>37999404>Well, time to launch our own investigation. Does the information broker on Tourta have anything that could help us?Not at this time, hence why they're providing lawyers. It seems they're not being cleared to see their clients though. >As for where or who the best choice is the planetary militia>Do they keep track of their members? They more keep track of approximate strength of local regiments which can vary in size by a large amount. The largest number 1200 members while the smaller ones are closer to 100.>Has anybody suspicious gone missing since this happened? One of the smaller militia regiments near the capital has stopped reporting in. A number of them were supposed to be attending the protest marches several days ago against the advice of the local NCO.And to make things worse a group of rioters are closing in the RSS building!"Command, if they get within 50 meters of us we're going to start using the stun grenades. Any additional orders?"
>>37999510>Overthrow the Governor more publicly. Launch a planetary assault, storm their residence and place the governor in custody before the rest of the PDF can catch on.Alright then, it seems that decision time has come people. We have two optionsWe can hesitate, and stand by and watch as innocent people as killed without cause, executed for crime they did not commit and watch as greedy and power hungry get away with it and continue to commit it putting doen the populous.Or we can act, and put a stop to this travesty of government and their actions that will most likely cause the death of hundreds, if not more. We swore an oath to protect the people of the house, I would like us to live up to that.
>>37999510Oh boy, the thing about the governor is that he's these things because they're in the best interest of our House, and in some way they are.Personally, I just don't think breaking promises that were made and having people we work with killed for that goal is worth it.>>37999779>A number of them were supposed to be attending the protest marches several days ago against the advice of the local NCO.Well, there's a lead. Do we have any way to find them? And what do we now about the noble leading the investigation? Is he actually trying to find out who's did it?>It seems they're not being cleared to see their clients though. Can we do anything about that?
>>37999632>>37999663The Baron has been out of contact since her departure.Would you guys like me to put up a survey?
>>37999917>We swore an oath to protect the people of the house, I would like us to live up to that.Damned straight. We also didn't save these people from the warlords to let some asshole Dro'all make a power play and kill them.I say we act. Public overthrow with Militia supporting/pinning down PDF.
>>37999992>Would you guys like me to put up a survey?Yeah, probably a good idea. Sometimes I really wish 4chan /tg/ had poster IDs.
>>37999510>3-man Recon Decapitation force to remove the GovernorPersonally I'd prefer this, bonus points if we could kidnap him and then temporarily assume his authority to deescalate the situation until Winifred returns to do some politicking.
>>37999779Ooohhh boy here we go.Alright, let's prove to that there is still honor in being a knight then.We need to quickly nab the prisoners from the Governor for their own safety. They are still suspect until we can clear them but at lest they wont be killed while in our holding cells. That militia regiment needs to be found ASAP, it could be the start of a revolt if they get involved. Send out Fighters and LSTs with soldiers to investigate and potentially put down rebels.>"Command, if they get within 50 meters of us we're going to start using the stun grenades. Any additional orders?""Give them a warning before any hostile actions are taken. If they fail to respond you are free to take none lethal actions until such a time that your lives are in danger"
>>38000113We could hotdrop troops and HAGs right on top of the prison facilities holding them.

Warning shots with phase rifles have partially driven back protesters from the RSS building. A few have tried to come closer but were hit with a stun grenade. Things seemed to be quieting down until a few of the RTS people were hit with projectile fire forcing them to take cover until they could find the source. There are believed to be snipers making use of roof tops of taller buildings. They likely have flash hiders or supressors to make them more difficult to spot and have access to splinter ammo. One of the RTS people are clinically dead and two more critically wounded, being held in stasis until they can be shipped into orbit. The RSS people are requesting permission to send air support on anti-sniper duty. They have shuttles, starfighters or troops with flight packs who might be harder to spot now that it's night time.[ ] Bunker down, don't leave gaps for snipers[ ] Shuttle (Can carry sniper team)[ ] Starfighter[ ] Flight pack team (Lethal /or/ Non lethal ordinance?)[ ] Aries drones (Lethal /or/ Non lethal ordinance?)[ ] Other

Deleted dice counted. The Drones are... adequate. Well 3 of the 4 drones sent up are. There must be multiple snipers because a pair of shots strike the fourth drone to reach roof top level, damaging some internal components and causing it to tumble out of the sky. "Drone 4 is down. It crashed on a balcony on one of the business towers.""We'll have to wait until business hours before seeing how much damage we need to pay for." One of the snipers are shot on the roof two buildings over. The one who must have shot at your people is eventually located using a zip line to reach lower towers closer to the city center. After reaching the next roof he tries to duck into cover as the drones open fire, only for them to shoot clear through the ventilation systems."Second target is down." Might take a day or two for the medics to look after him."The other wounded civilians are flown to nearby hospitals. While this has been going on your pair of bodyguards took a shuttle and team of marines to the surface with the intention of capturing one of the nobles that were helping the Governor. Only a few minor mishaps occur. One of the guards at the apparent noticed another that had been knocked out and calls for backup. Your people are able to take down the new arrivals using their extraction vehicle to distract them. The target is trussed up, blindfolded then dragged outside for a speedy getaway. An hour later they're on the shuttle back into orbit. Records provided by your House Veritas contacts don't happen to include this particular land owner. Initially reluctant to talk he seems to think your people were sent by the Governor and claims he's kept to his end of the agreement. When he starts answering your real questions you find out that this person has never had any real contact with FPL extremists even through the bio weapon attacks. Nor does he know for certain of anyone else who did. He was approached by certain people and told to say that he'd seen one or two of the other nobles making deals with them years ago and again more recently. The Governor's office then approached him asking him to testify to this effect for immunity from similar charges."Maybe they really were FPL people, I wouldn't be able to tell who was a spy or a terrorist by looking at them."Compared to the others that were arrested this guy is a minor land owner. A few small businesses and apartments here and there. He's better with tracking their numbers and figures than anything clever. "Well it's some evidence the Governor is making up these charges. Though it sounds like someone is helping him." "Probably just more people working for him."

They have 20 starfighter squadrons and were planning to increase cheaper atmospheric fighter numbers to 40 squadrons. Current totals unknown. A prolonged engagement would put you at a disadvantage were they to raise the planetary shields. Your Battlecruisers could bombard the generators the moment they're detected powering up but this would leave a hole in the shield for a week. You have enough shuttles and LSTs to drop your entire Marine force in one landing. Most of the RTS mercs are in orbit but their IFVs and tanks are on the surface. How many troops do you want to assign to taking the prison facility?
>>38007181Do we have an idea how many troops are stationed at the prison?
>>38007426At most 1000, but it's likely to be closer to 500. The particular prison they're believed to be in is only intended to hold a small number of prisoners.
>>38007181Aww sheit, we went with planetary assault without a proper planetary assault force.Well drop in a thousand Marines then with some 40 Power Cell Troopers and two Power armored Knights as commanders. That leaves us with plenty of forces to drop on the Governor. Oh god why did we pick this option?
>>38007181Let's deploy 100 of the Power Cell Troopers with 600 regular marines to back them up, with 10 IFVs and three tanks.Make sure they have the backup of all the starfighter squadrons to achieve air superiority.
>>38007181>Most votes are for planetary assault with a simultanious attack on the prison complex. So, we're going to do nothing with the evidence we gathered?>Your available Knights will be split between helping the militiaWe really need to establish contact with those guys before we do anything. We might be able to ferry more of their men to the capital before things start happening.
>>38007773>So, we're going to do nothing with the evidence we gathered?I figured we're using this evidence as a basis to arrest the Governor with. Just that we're doing it kinda... Forcefully?
>>38007592Actual military, or closer to present day wardens?
>>38007696>Aww sheit, we went with planetary assault without a proper planetary assault force. The mechanized infantry divisions went with Daska and the fleet. Marines are special forces not intended to be deployed in overly huge numbers. You also have orbital support though it will be dangerous to use.Besides if it takes long enough to reach the Governor that the PDF's numbers can become an issue you have bigger problems. >>38007773>So, we're going to do nothing with the evidence we gathered?Would anyone like to warn the Governor that you're coming to arrest him before you drop from orbit? Please say so now.>We really need to establish contact with those guys before we do anything. We might be able to ferry more of their men to the capital before things start happening.RSS has a number of Heavy Lift Vehicles for cargo work that could be of use. They'll be landed at locations appropriate to their job and begin taking aboard mobilized militia regiments. Keep in mind that the PDF will be aware that the militia has started calling in their members, but it could just result in them focusing preparations for defense on those cities where you're picking them up. Once the HLV's take off they've be able to easily circumvent ground positions. There are only so many places for them to land within range of the capital. Do you want RTS forces to focus on securing their LZ rather than helping the marines with the assault on the Governor's compound?Prison (These will be averaged)40 - 100 power cell600 - 1000, marines10 IFVs and three tanks. A good portion of the starfighters will be assigned. The small number of Vehicles will be available to breach the prison if needed.Capital>Everyone else
>>38008334>Would anyone like to warn the Governor that you're coming to arrest him before you drop from orbit?Give him one warning just before we storm his crib that he is given the option to open the doors and come peacefully or he he can choose to not take the chance.
>>38008334>Please say so now.Maybe prepare some propaganda broadcast we can begin sending once the fighting starts?>You also have orbital support though it will be dangerous to use.Aren't Frigates and Corvettes capable of operating in atmosphere? What about light cruisers?Securing the LZs is probably a good idea until we've landed enough militia to take over for them.
>>38008334>warn Governor? No, but Leak to Media and call up Militia once the fighting starts.with luck, the riots and Militia should work to our advantage by pinning down PDF forces and potentially causing a few PDF units/bases to stand down.
>>38008334The Red dot is the Governor's residence.Yellow dot is the prison complex.Green dot is the RSS building. The red circles around the map are LZ's that could accommodate a HLV to land. I believe RSS has 5 HLV's on hand. You could bring in about 2500 militia troops with each, or 5000 each if you were willing to wait 6 more hours for more to arrive at their staging areas in the other cities. This could give away your intentions and would make a lightning assault with your elite troops more difficult.Your Marines with their shuttles and LST's can set down pretty much anywhere.
>>38008730Wait, that kids merc company, how many troops does he have?Anyway, don't take the time, and have them set down near the RSS building.
>>38008730>The red circles around the map are LZ's that could accommodate a HLV to land. We're not really experienced in urban warfare. Let people who know that stuff decide where the HLVs should land.
So it turns out my auto update wasn't turned on.>Aren't Frigates and Corvettes capable of operating in atmosphere? Yes, though the best Frigates for it were taken by the fleet. Smuggler Frigates can do it but their repulsors are not as well suited for hovering. Most of the attack corvettes assigned here have minimal point defense, though there are a few left over from your old units with some. You have 5 corvettes that can provide close air support in addition to the small number of HAG's which will be assisting near the prison.>What about light cruisers? No, they're not set up for it. >>38008794They're mostly fleet based and have minimal ground forces.>>38008850Just be aware that the militia will be forced to fight their way across sections of the city to reach the Governor's residence if your marines are pinned. In a worst case scenario that could take a bit.>>38008432>>38008471>Yes>>38008680>No>>38008506>MaybeThe yes team it is for the time being. Do you want to begin preparing the militia forces before this?
>>38009008I'm against forewarning him
>>38009038Mainly because I expect him to destroy evidence, and I don't want to give him the chance.
>>38008730If we secure any HLV sites, it should probably be the 5 north of the RSS building.Tight grouping that should provide a damned good staging area for massing the Militia, and we can always divert a lagging HLV or two onto another site if the main grouping draws too much attention.
>>38009008We'll do whichever option is the quickest. We need to go with speed if we are to do this with as few death's as possible.
Current plan of attack: >Diverted HLV's spend as little time as possible to take on militia volunteers in other cities, attempting to so and then launch without tipping off the Governor to what's happening.Approximately 2 hours before planetary assault.>Zero hour. Planetary assault. Marine forces land at the prison and Governor's residence. RTS personnel move to secure Landing zones. HLV's launch from other cities.Planetary shields are fired upon from orbit if the PDF attempts to raise them.>Prisoners are secured and begin evacuation. HLV's begin their landing. Best case scenario for having reached the Governor. Worst case scenario things fully go to hell at this point.>Militia fight their way to objectives or stranded allies with heavy air and orbital support. If Governor has surrendered Militia secures capital city. >Worst case scenario, ground and air forces begin to be overwhelmed by superior PDF numbers. Heavier orbital strikes begin. More Militia are brought in to counter. Things then become very bloody unless you can come up with another plan.At some point evidence will be leaked to the media or broadcast from your fleet and with any luck the Governor will surrender which will hopefully stave off a worst case scenario. It's there so you have an idea of how badly it can go.All that's undecided at this point is when you leak info to the media or tell the Governor you're placing him under arrest. Your choices will determine how many people die. See you in the morning! Hoping to resume at an earlier hour this time.
>>38009822First: YOU’RE BACK!Second:Anyone, please correct me if I’m wrong, but the current plan is to attack to do a planetary assault on a planet of our own house, attack a governor of the House in his office, and do a prison break. And all of this based on a rumor, a few weird but easily explainable coincidences, and a single witness who is will say the opposite of what we want in court and only told us anything because we kidnapped him and he was afraid? And even if we are in the right and find evidence, there is a chance this whole thing was approved from high up in our house because it will greatly benefit the house as a whole? That is a so incredibly bad idea I don’t even know where it came from.
>>38013410First off: Even if we do this perfectly and manage to convict the governor, this plan can easily cost us our carreer. And just going in and arresting the governor and breaking into a prison, and doing a whole planetary assault is about as blunt and bad as we can go about this. If we don’t win this and the governor has enough plausible deniability or whatever to get off the hook, Sonia can kiss her chances to ever become a baron good by. They don’t need someone who takes law into her own hands if she thinks things go wrong instead of actually working within the system.Secondly, We don’t need to act within a single day. Yes, people will die, but as far as we understand this is more of a mid- to long term thing. The populace will not form an army and do a civil war in a single day.Thirdly, We need evidence. Preferably as solid as possible. We need this for several things:1) The prisoners are not actually terrorists.2) Someone set them up.3) The governor somehow involved in this.4) The governor is intentionally escalating the riots instead of trying to pacify them.We absolutly need 4). If we have that, we can step in and ask the governor to step down or else. And we should ask the governor first, because you don’t attack high-ranking officials of your own House without giving them a chance to surrender! This is also the easiest to get in my opinion because it is sort of subjective. Just get a few political science guys or similar to confirm it, then ask the governor to stop and if she doesn’t arrest her.We need 1) in order to a) Demand they be freed if the governor is still in office or b) free them ourselves. The rest has a bit of more time. I’m sure the investigation of 1) will yield enough hints to do a proper investigation here.
>>38013425This guy really does have a point. Supporting this.
>>38013425This anon makes some really good points.>Yes, people will die, but as far as we understand this is more of a mid- to long term thing.Maybe we can simply have a recon team observe or infilltrate the prison complex? Or maybe just pressure the governor into letting the lawyers see their client, or, if necessary, giving these permissions ourselves?
>>38013425I think there already have been several days passed since the start of this. I still support a planetary assault.Trying to work with whats left of the system has failed us. The govenor us uncooperative, and even obtrusive, he is acting on little evidence and the pattern of arrests he's conducting lend evidence to suspicions he's doing this for his own goals. He's been keeping us out of his investigations and in every way we've given him a chance to help prove his innocence he's been highly restrictive. The only reason I would see this delayed is to send a high priorty message to the Earl as to if there is some high level plot going ob and if we should not act. Only waiting for that responce is what will stop this. If it answers negatively, we act fast.
>>38013425True, the populace won't form an army and revolt in a single day.But if we delay there is a risk that old FPL sympathies will grow into terror cells and worse. And if the governor executes the land owners, the population is not going to be happy. And with martial law giving the -governor- power, we can only kidnap people to get information. As Winnifred once told us. A flawed plan implemented now is better than a perfect plan that you don't have. Or something like that.
>>38009822We leak the info as soon as we have the Governor safely in custody. That way we minimize backlash towards him, from the population who may try to kill him, by already having him in custody. Meanwhile we should send out squads to go bring in the rest of his land owners associates so we can interrogate them for more proof and perhaps give them immunity in exchange for giving a testimony against him. We send communication to the Governor that we are arresting him when we star dropping down Marines right outside his house.>>38013410>>38013425Well it's what the majority wanted according to the survey so that's the way we are going it seems. We will just have to try make the best of the situation.
The planetary assault is largely prepared and can be launched at any time so delaying to investigate more won't disrupt things too much.>>38013410>First: YOU’RE BACK!Not if windows update has anything to say about it.>>38013410>That is a so incredibly bad idea I don’t even know where it came from. And several wanted to straight up assassinate the governor with the Recon team.>>38013425>this plan can easily cost us our carreer.I was beginning to wonder if people actually realised that was even a possibility.>And we should ask the governor first, because you don’t attack high-ranking officials of your own House without giving them a chance to surrender! Or maybe just pressure the governor into letting the lawyers see their client, or, if necessary, giving these permissions ourselves?Do you guys want to see if you can force the Governor to let you escort lawyers in to see the arrested nobles? You could probably get some more information from them if you got in. Or you could just go ahead and march them in with an armed guard.
>>38016265>Do you guys want to see if you can force the Governor to let you escort lawyers in to see the arrested nobles?I'd prefer doing it that way but I don't really know how we'd pressure him into doing it.>I was beginning to wonder if people actually realised that was even a possibility.I already had resigned myself to a few decades of "For Factions & Alliance: Alcohol Abuse".
>>38016265>Do you guys want to see if you can force the Governor to let you escort lawyers in to see the arrested nobles? You could probably get some more information from them if you got in. Do it, also, what about scare tactics? Can we position some of our ships and assualt forces in places where we can maximize intimidation to the govenor?Really, all I want to see from him are straight answers, evidence of these charges, and to assist in the investigation and fair trials. Why did the govenor cancel elections anyway? Can we ask him?
>>38016515For the intimidation, could we position these ships over roiting areas, if the govenor asks, we could tell him we are trying to scare the populous into submission. Maybe have our long prepositioned battleship from way earlier fire a warning shot into the ocean as "proof"
>>38016265>How did you want to go about collecting more info?I think something we haven't really considered is that a majority of the civilians on this planet seem to be displeased with the governor. So, maybe we should try to work with them? Can we ask him? You're able to contact the governor about this."I don't feel that it is necessary to explain to you at this time why but if you continue to insist. Our intelligence has been monitoring deserters from the SRL attempting to get on planet since the recent shake up. With it there have been an increasing number of attempts to breach internal security, set up money rackets and other schemes. Several of these targeted infrastructure that would have been used in elections.Threats by terrorist groups have also increased since the attacks in the Homeworlds. A number of suspected extremists were arrested smuggling weapons onto the planet, including splinter munitions for older projectile weapons. Our investigation had already determined that they did not acquire any of their arms from your companies."Well that's good news. You also get some of the information on the intercepted weapons and captured deserters."In my estimation the situation was too unstable to hold elections without interference. The local low level police forces, the independent media, the militia, the unions etc. could provide valuable information and insights. Was there anything specific you wanted to ask them? The police are either siding with their jobs or deserting, largely based upon where they're from. Only police who moved here from the Homeworlds are being trusted as riot troops. The rest are looking after the normal day to day. Media is covering the riots though they're being increasingly held back on what specifics they can report.Militia was hoping the protests would be able to convince the governor to allow the elections. They're now slowly beginning to arm and would like him off the planet if possible. Again they really wish Winifred was here to provide some authority. Most unions haven't called for strikes yet but it could happen. They were thinking of conducting some in a few weeks but that may result in them being disbanded if there is a crack down so they're reluctant.>>38016333>I'd prefer doing it that way but I don't really know how we'd pressure him into doing it.>>38016515>Do it,Well you can either demand to have the lawyers allowed in and choose to back those demands up, or just go ahead and do it. >>38017357> Contact the Earl> Demand to allow lawyers in> Demand to duel the Governor since he's going back on the treaty we brokered, and is impugning our honour.Learn how 2 feudal guys. Make a big, showy, public event where we talk about how we promised the people of Surakeh that we would defend their rights when they came into J-D. Challenge the Governor publicly, then do the same to any rebel leaders that feel like you have been failing to uphold your end of the bargain. Toss in the demand that the accused at least be allowed to talk to their lawyers, and mention casually that you won't allow them to be tried and possibly executed in secret as part of a land-grab.If we can do that, and assert ourselves as a negotiator who's neutral and has a stake in the proceedings. Honour is a bit of a big deal here.
>>38017883>demand/threaten?Give the courtesy of requesting, while making it clear that the lawyers will be seeing their clients. Likely just as they land and the governor couldn't give the order to stop them if he wanted to.The motions are important, but that doesn't mean they have to allow time to stop or slow things.
>>38018222Let's make a big stink, then have someone quietly inform the Earl that the Governor is making a power-play that is suspicious while the Baron is away, and that her temporary in-command is about to remove him. >>38018751He's an ancient guy with rapidly deteriorating health. There's no honour to be won here and I doubt he has to accept the duel if he can barely handle the day to day business without constant medical attention.

He "accidentally" killed an opponent in a duel 30 years ago and has rarely performed them since.
>>38019092So, we can "accidentally" kill him then, or wound him to the point where he is removed for "reasons of health"?Solves the problem rather neatly.
"You don't answer to me Governor, but neither do I answer to you. As a practical matter, both of us are required to assure the other of our competence and desire to better the house, and thus check each other. If you want my support you will have to convince me of that.""Reynard you have a very high opinion of yourself. I don't require your support to carry out the obligations of my position."Ignoring this you push ahead before the Governor can disconnect. "Lawyers representing the arrested nobles are requesting to see the accused. As members of the nobility of this House they have the right to legal representation. I have several squads that will be escorting them to the prison. I would prefer it if there were no complications.""I see." Rna looks off screen then back to you. "In that case I'll need to speak to my advisors. Have your people ready at the prison entrance within the hour."Once the channel cuts out and you give the signal for the escort to depart with the lawyers, you open an encrypted channel to Dreminth. It's tagged as being an urgent message from the acting commander of the House fleets in South Reach so it should get through to the Earl. It seems the Earl is away on some sort of holiday retreat with his family and can't be reached easily. Instead you've been put in contact with the Council. They're concerned by your accusations and wonder if you have any more proof. You don't, it's just not available. "At the very least you are correct in that the nobles deserve lawyers and a trial. However given the minimal amount of hard evidence there would be severe political repercussions of the council removing a Planetary Governor from office without the Earl's permission. If you believe that citizens of the House are being threatened by the governor's actions then you must take what steps you feel are necessary."
>>38019398Translation: Hey, if he kills them we get the land and then this eager pup takes him out, looks like a hero and keeps the loyalty of the planet. Win-Win.TFW we give the land back as reparations.OR, we could use it to slowly build up dislike of J-D in preparation for Winifred's totally-not-going-on-her-own.
"Are you saying that I won't be subject to political fallout if I remove the Governor from office?""Heavens child, no one can do that." scoffs one of the councilors."But it will be taken into consideration." adds another.>>38019223While unlikely it's not outright impossible that the Governor would agree to a duel. Alternatively you could modify your planetary assault plans and place him in a position where it would be impossible to refuse.
>>38019440Or give it to their heirs. They have those.>>38019488"Very well. I do wish to point out that the Governor's handling of the situation will likley enourmously complicate our ability to acquire territory from House Fle'rov, both because of the possibility that I will need substantial amounts of ground forces to restore order if the PDF and Militia start shooting at each other, and that even the appearance of trumped up charges against nobles who only recently aligned with our house could cause serious issues, both with House Fler'rov's former territory, and our recent acquisition from house Posat. Any pressure you can put on the governor to back down without causing a very public mess would be appreciated."
>>38019488Meh, the goal is to a) make it a public event that will reach beyond just the planet, b) give us a reason for interfering beyond "we think it's shady", and c) Let us actually defend our honour.Honestly, I can't believe we aren't doing any PR stuff here. Especially since the honour thing is the main reason we're even getting involved as an opponent to a plan that actually benefits our house. I wouldn't even care if he agreed or not, just so long as the challenge was made and publicized. So, I guess if he gives us any shit while bringing the Lawyers in we can challenge him there. Can we tip off some newscasters so that they're recording when we land, please?Seriously, we need to be aware of how we look while we're doing this. I don't want to be seen as supporting dangerous and seditious ideals, I want to be seen as holding up to an agreement we made because we're trustworthy, even if it means standing up to other factions in our own house, without making it seem like we value that more than our overall loyalty. So if we can use providing lawyers to the accused based on the fact that all nobles of our house are entitled to the same rights, we can be seen as supporting both our own honour, and our houses honour. The challenge is just showmanship, and an attempt to make it between us and the governer and not have house forces fighting each other.Control, Contain, and look good doing it.
>>38019488>"Heavens child, no one can do that." scoffs one of the councilors.I like this person.
>>38019604"She does have a point, even with their surrender stabilising Fle'rov, ore preventing that instability is a pressing concern.""All the more reason the Governor should crush those protests now.""That option was compromised long before-" The channel cuts out for 20 seconds then resumes."We can't promise much support Knight Captain, but will do what we can.">>38019638>Honestly, I can't believe we aren't doing any PR stuff hereNamely because it would make a surprise attack difficult.>Can we tip off some newscasters so that they're recording when we land, please?Hold that thought. What happened to them?""Sorry sir, we just needed to confirm the DNA. They're dead. Someone has burned off their identifying features. All of them were killed with phase rifles." "How many bodies?" "About 15 we think.""And where did you find them?""Plasma Incinerator. It hadn't gotten to them yet. Plenty of militia weapons were missing too but we've located most of them save for the explosives and older rifles matching a particular caliber.""Which one?"The missing weapons match those intercepted being smuggled onto the planet and were the same type being used by the snipers. You call down to the medbay. "Is that sniper we captured awake yet?" "Not yet sir.">Any additional orders regarding the militia?
>>38020448Not right now.
>>38020448Don't suppose there is any CCTV in or around the area where the dead ones where found? It worries me that a group of militia as large as that group where all killed and had their stuff stolen. Is there any sewer or sub levels running underneath either the prison or the RSS building? My paranoia tells me they might blow either up for reasons.Anyways we should probably try to reign in a few of the runaway militia for interrogation so we can get a picture of where the dead ones where last seen. But others can deal with that and get back to us while we move on to other things like the prisoners.
>>38020448Inform the ones we found that someone is trying to kill them, perhaps, and that they should separate themselves from the riots so that if it's necessary for us to remove the governor they can act in a co-ordinated fashion.Only tell the important guys that last bit, and do it somewhere that it isn't recorded.
>>38020588Well, I suppose we can always remove a Governor for incompetence as well as insubordination. It'll just matter whether we do it before or after the nobles die.
>>38020448Let's keep our find under wraps for now.Increase security for that sniper. I don't want to see a repeat of our performance with the FA guys.>Any additional orders regarding the militia?Would it be possible to track these guys after they went off the grid somehow? Maybe CCTV?
>>38020448So we've more or less got a confirmed false flag attack against RSS/RTS?Mr London, prepare the lawyers. >>38019398>"I see." Rna looks off screen then back to you. "In that case I'll need to speak to my advisors. Have your people ready at the prison entrance within the hour."We should send in a team NOW to assess that the prisoners are safe. Quick question - we're fucking RICH. Why aren't we trying to bribe any of the prison guards to tip us off if anything happens to the prisoners?

It looks like protestors are converging on the prison complex. Somebody must have leaked its location."There's a sharp POP over the channel followed by additional interference you initially mistake for while noise."Barrister team to Reynard! Fire fight is in progress, outer prison wall has been breached!"It's rather clear now that the white noise was gunfire."Do you want us to evac with the lawyers before we get caught in the crossfire or try to push on to the Nobles?"Do you want to send down additional troops as well?
>>38021145"Punch through. We'll land troops to secure the prison."There are almost certainly some of the governors agents in the area. If we can capture them, we'll have the evidence we need.
>>38021145Interesting development. Let's respond with force by deploying half our space assets around the prison in order to protect it. I mean they are on standby so it should be done fairly quickly. Also no one shoots at our soldiers and gets away with it. Let's see how they like it when we deploy Power Cell Troops!
>>38021145Push for the nobles. Evacuate the lawyers with a very small support if they are far away for that, otherwise protect them.Send support immediately. Rna is inciting the riots and probably has troops hiden between protesters. The Nobles need to be secured, even if there are casulties among the populace or the lawyers.
>>38021145>Do you want to send down additional troops as well?Contact whoever is in command of that prison. Tell them we're interested in keeping the prisoners and his men alive, what kind of support do they need?Inform our troops about the splinter ammo that might be used by hostiles. Can we drop stun grenades on people breaching the perimeter from the air?Maybe have a corvette or two do a low alt fly-by to scare to protestors?
>>38021286>>38021277>>38021229Agreed. Also, use it as an excuse to move them to the military brig on the station, due to its higher security and inability to be attacked by protestors.
>>38021145Brute force extraction. The Governor is either complicit or incompetent. Send a team to pick him up "for his safety" as we have evidence of somebody using the Militia members as a cover, and one to pick up the nobles.Go heavy and take no prisoners, anyone at this level won't be worth it in testifying anyways.Instead, we should also sweep up the remaining nobles he had working for him and isolate their residences. No half-assing this, if we react quickly and aggressively enough then we should be fine. If we go too soft, then we'll be left limp-dicked while they get their excuses ready.
>>38021286Actually, scratch that. The lawyers can act as neutral witnesses. If our soldiers see something, the governor can just say they say so out of loyalty. If the lawyers say something, it will have far more weight before a court.
>>38021352IF ONLY WE HAD ARRANGED TO HAVE SOME JOURNALISTS ON SITE.

I'm sick of the Governor's shit at this point and we need to remove him before it gets tempting to execute him on the spot.
>>38021374So… Are you supporting to take some non-combatants as witnesses on this dangerous mission, or do you not support it?
>>38021442Yes? They're called Journalists, and this happens all the time. We're seriously risking our careers here, so now that we're moving we need to hammer the PR hard.I don't give a damn about implicating the Governor directly, that can be taken care of discretely later on if necessary. But I do want to be able to show that our intervention was necessary, or even have the Governer pin the deaths on US.
>>38021511No, I’m not talking about Journalists, because there is not enough time for that. I’m talking about the lawyer who are with the troops right now, because so far I’m the only one who suggested that and it is unclear whether you support it.
>>38021622OH, yes I support bringing the lawyers, but only so far as they have to talk to the prison guards/warden if they refuse our help. They should be nowhere NEAR combat, especially since they aren't neutral.
"Punch through. We'll land troops to secure the prison. Just make sure someone get those civies out of there."You give the order to land half the marines to secure the prison."Coms, try to raise the prison commander and find out what support they need." "The prison control tower was just hit by an RPG. I'm not sure if we can raise anyone but individual soldiers.""Then start talking to them until you find whoever is in command.""Aye sir."A pair of LST's, a HAG and twenty shuttles drop from orbit as fast as possible. Corvettes will take longer to ensure they enter the atmosphere without creating massive atmospheric shock waves which could damage infrastructure."B team moving forward. Confirming that enemies do have splinter ammo. We have three people severely wounded. Be advised grenade detonations inside the prison.""Your backup is 20 seconds out."A dozen shuttles come down engines first at a speed normally reserved for artillery fire, using full throttle and repulsor power to slow their descent as late as possible into the drop. Mentioning that people have been trying to incite riots as false flag operations and that people should be careful not to fall for that might also help, but that would also make gathering evidence harder.>>38023227I’m sorry everytime I come back after what is for me the night and feel like a single post in the right direction could have lead us past some of the dumber stuff. >>38023476>Now make a decision, attack or sit on your ass?Neither, I don't give a fuck right now. I'll abstain from any vote until I care again.
>>38023227Obligatory 'fuck the treaty, bombard the planet' poster here. This has gone on long enough. We either hit the Governor with everything or we assassinate him with a weapon from one of his guards via Recon team. And we may need a krath to assist with extracting some things from that sniper.
>>38023541A post like this makes me sad. Makes me miss the simpler days of us, our wingmates, and our early ships protecting the people of the house while pulling off amazing shows of piloting, impressing our commanders and enjoying the simple things without having to deal with this internal powerplaying.
>>38023227Oh, and honestly I've always wanted to conquer another house. So I'm kinda sad we got to miss out on that.
>>38023416The planetary assault likely would have gone through last night if my computer hadn't screwed up.>>38023308>gather all the evidence. The guards and the militia were using different ammunition, so it should be possible to tell who shot them. Once we have that information, we move. One of the lawyers is a part time forensics examiner and helps the techs and medics check the nobles. Most were shot in the back by the guards weapons once they had reached the hallway near the prison block. A few have wounds consistent with splinter ammo. The guards themselves were killed by splinter ammo. One of the militia men was using a guard's weapon when your marines killed him. Any wounds with those weapons not through the back are believed to have been their work. None of the guards that had been nearby survived as a few of them are also believed to have been stunned or killed by members of B team.B teams injuries are from a combination of both types of weapons fire.A) Release all evidence to the media, fire warning shots from orbit to get attention of protestersB) Walk into the Governor's residence, place under arrestC) Walk into the Governor's residence, challenge to a duelD) Full scale planetary assaultE) a + bF) a + cG) a + d
>>38023922>E) A + BAnd arrest all of his underling nobles, as well.
>>38023922E)Also, broadcast to all PDF channels that the governor killed his own men in a false flag attack. Lets see how much support he has then.
>>38023973E) a + b I do believe we have enough evidence to at lest place him temporarily under arrest.
>>38024001Meant G) sorry. No way he'll go quietly at this point.
>>38023922Gimme a >G!
Rolled 15 (1d20)>>38023685The Krath thing is silly. Even them having that ability is a secret and we already know it’s really hard to get anything from the Krath least of all because they don’t have an embassy in our House. But is is really tempting to just go to the governor guns blazing and raid everything in the hopes of finding enough evidence to incriminate her before she gets to destroying everything.>>38023922E)But go in recon armor with the whole team first! We have three suits right now, right? Infiltrate, copy databanks etc as much as we can, call in the cavalry while one watches the Governor. When the governor hears that we are placing her under arrest she will hopefully try to delete the evidence. We need to have someone there to a) Use this to find out WHERE the evidence is and b) Record her behaviour as evidence of guilt.Have someone else watch anyone important looking in case the governor just uses a codephrase and someone else is going to destroy the evidence.
>>38023922Release information that someone has murdered and impersonated militia forces and used that to kill the nobles, use that as an excuse to assume control of the PDF and isolate the Governor for "his own protection" while we root out the traitors, at the same time have teams targeting the Nobles that weren't swept up, and fire warning shots to get the attention of protestors.Remember, we don't have any information directly linking the Governor to ANY of this yet.
>>38023922G)But, if there was a B,A, and D option I wouldn't complain. Arrest him, release information, get some bodies that we trust on the ground.I'm surprised we didn't go along with the planetary assault like planned in the first place.
>>38024164That actually sounds good to me.
>>38024206We can neutralize the Governor this way, and excuse our lack of informing him because we don't know how far the corruption goes.We can also save the house face by having him be reprimanded/punished afterwards while we tell the public that he's in "ill health due to the stress of the situation".Alternatively, if he DOES take action against us then we can call that proof of complicity, or alternatively challenge him to a duel.Essentially, we're going to make him look either guilty or incompetent. Either one is just as good. But we'll get a lot less fall-out if we make it look like an outside attack from a rival house or if we can pin the land grab on the Governor.
>>38024098That honestly sounds like fun. I kinda want to inform him that he made many mistakes, but honestly the most severe of them was resisting arrest.
>>38024098I think getting the evidence will be more effective than recording the Governor deleting the evidence.I don't know why you guys have such a hard-on for tracing this back to the Governor directly. Fuck it, lets just get him out of the way and deal with him quietly. Keep It Simple Stupid. We can have forensics sweep the place later. Right now, we have an incipient rebellion to stop. Having the Governor be guilty just might not be the best way to do that, hey?
>>38024444I wanted to just assassinate him early on and go 'well Reynard will save the day! Elections will be held!'then we could have blamed THAT on the House Daska conquered. Or Terran Alliance scum.
>>38024444THIS. For the love of god, let's at least PRETEND to look at the political situation here. We don't have any proof currently justifying us arresting the Governor. We don't know who his backers are. There's a rebellion brewing, and J-D would probably like this planet to still want to be part of it. Let's not have another incident like when we tried to help House Helios and ending up fucking them, hey?Let's go with "Protection" for the Governor and non-arrested nobles (Someone killed the other guys!), and get control of the situation before we start trying to go all cloak and dagger here.
Rolled 5 (1d20)>>38024444>I think getting the evidence will be more effective than recording the Governor deleting the evidence.Sorry for being unclear. We do not know where the evidence is. I was hoping if the Governor finds out someone is on the way to get him and will search the place she will go to wherever evidence is and try to destroy it. That way we can more easily find the evidence. If we also record this, we also have prove of her trying to destroy evidence. This plan is strictly supplemental to whatever else we do. If Rna doesn’t do anything, then she never has to know people in Recon armor have been watching her.
>>38024493Probably would have worked at the beginning, but we've gone to the council already and they know we were thinking of taking him out.A leetle bit too suspicious now.Hell, if we had more time with the whole "found people impersonating the militia" then I would have had us send our own team impersonating them to free the Nobles and pretend they had been kidnapped, only to bring them forth after we had everything controlled.
>>38024558Yes, but WHY are we arresting the Governor in the first place? Without direct proof, it looks like either paranoia or a power play, which will fuck our career.>>38023922PLEASE let us go with protective custody instead of arrest. And it does have the nice irony that if the Governor was part of the plot to imitate the Militia, then we get to use that as justification for shutting everything down.
>>38023922> GIts time to do something people we hesitated on this political battle, and like on any battle field it got people killed. Next time, don't hesitate, act, while it may cost, it will save lives, which is what matters. Also TSTG, next time you have comp trouble just go with the decision. It was made, we even did a survey, but you casting your own opinion led us to doubt and got us in this ducking mess when you didn't just go through.
>>38024563>>38024558>>38024516>>38024493>>38024604Fine, whatever, substitute "taking into protective custody" for arresting. But it still needs to be carried out. >>38023922Pick a letter, A through G.

>>38025572We could also argue he was incompetent and was making the situation worse.
>>38025608Totally, all is not lost. We can still do this and get out ahead.
>>38025572We could also argue that there were enough hints to investigate this stuff and even if nothing turns up we did the right thing. Or that we just put him under protection because *something* weird is going on.I think we have been careful enough and gathered enough evidence to not lose too much from the political fallout. Whether or not the Governor is found complicit of anything remains to be seen.
You board one of the LST's and join your teams planet side. The rest of the marines descend from orbit as well with the other shuttles ferrying the wounded soldiers and civilians into orbit. Any protestors that didnt flee once the shooting started will be thrown into the brig aboard the station. When the Governor contacts you wanting to know the situation at the prison and the status of the prisoners you reply that you'll be delivering a report in person soon."Once everyone is patched up in orbit, get back down here. We have some more work to do." The other half of your Marine forces return to the surface an hour later and you signal RSS to begin moving assets into position should you need landing site for those HLV's full of Militia."Alex, begin planned bombardment and send the information to the media. It should take them a minute to air anything."Once everyone is gathered above the prison the marine shuttles move towards the Governor's residence and begin setting down troops. You're walking up the stairs in your holographic dress uniform carrying an armored briefcase when the PDF troopers outside ask for your ID. With you flanked by a dozen troops in power cell armor they're understandably nervous. An LST swinging in and dropping IFV's on a nearby street doesn't help put them at ease."I'm here for my meeting with the Governor. He's expecting me, are you trying to waste his time and mine?" "N-no sir it's just your men will have to wait outside." "I'm assigning these marines for his protection. If you have any objections log them with the Governor after our meeting."Once inside a pair of guards escort you the rest of the way to the Governor's chambers where you inform him. A Knight that must be part of the personal guard enters the room after you and demands to know what's going on.
>>38025669he threatened London when we pointed out he couldn't possibly have evidence against the land owners, then threatened us, then RTS folks came under what turns out to be a false flag attack, then at a time of his choosing the imprisoned nobles are executed by the prison guards and being double-tapped by another false-flag.If that isn't grounds to at least remove him from office, fuck it.
>>38025669Well what do we have? One of his nobles who can testify that he was told to tell him that the now arrested (mostly dead) nobles had some shady relations going on. Prison guards who have executed most of the arrested nobles about an hour after we told him we where getting them lawyers following a surprising attack by HEAVILY armored rioters on the prison. What more?>>38025889Well he formulated it so it could be perceived as a threat but was not an actual threat. Also, page 10
"You can find out at the same time as the Governor." Not missing the step you barge into the inner chambers, interrupting the older Dro'all in the middle of a call. Your two bodyguards become visible upon crossing the threshold and your hologram is disrupted. Must have been a security field of some kind. It doesn't matter now. "Governor in light of the recent attacks I am placing you in protective custody until such time as the Baron returns from her assignment and Surakeh is returned to a stable state."Glancing over you note that the other Knight is holding a pulse pistol to your head and is in turn under the guns of your bodyguards. "Knight...?""Evans.""...Evans, it will only take one shot to put you down. Do you honestly believe your gun can penetrate my armor?"Glancing around he reluctantly safeties his weapon then holsters it. "Reynard do you really expect to get away with this?" Asks the Governor. "I have thousands of troops and hundreds of starfighters.""All of which are hearing a number of sanctioned broadcasts we've given to the media about now. It would be helpful to our investigation if you were to turn over all information you had on the other nobles before they were murdered." "So they're dead?"[ ] Truth[ ] Lie
>>38026024>ApprehendDon't bother talking right now. He might be stalling for time.
>>38025864"I have been authorized by the council to act as I see fit to safeguard the House's interests. I am here to take the governor into protective custody l. You will stay out of my way
>>38026024"-Some- where executed by the prisonguards before Marines could intercept them sadly. Now I believe it's time for us to leave this planet for the preferable safety of space."He wont get much info out of just. >>38026024"If you'd like to request a lawyer, you can find out in an hour, after I've consulted my advisers."
>>38026024And see who is on that video call with our own eyes.If it is the Earl, there will be blood.
Some of them were unlawfully murdered by your prison guards, but not all of them. Still, they have heirs, at least one of which I'm sure is capable of defeating you in a duel even if you dodge everything else.
"If you'd like to request a lawyer, you can find out in an hour, after I've consulted my advisers."You step around the desk to see who is on the other end of the call. They hung up but you have a contact number which is listed for a location on planet."Trace this number." You tell one of the others then make sure that the Governor is escorted out. Rufaro keeps an eye on Knight Evans to make he doesn't try anything."Are they dead? Just give me a yes or no answer." Rna asks before the door shuts and the two of you are unable to hear each other. "The call came in from a public number. The other techs will have to go through surveillance of the area now that it's narrowed down." Says Valeri."Most of the Governor's files are unlocked at the moment, he wasn't able to do anything about it.""Do we have enough to find what we need?" "Not all of the files are unlocked but I can copy over the encrypted ones for us to break later.""Any calls from the Earl?""Not recently. Looks like the only calls with the Earl are monthly. Likely a regular check in on status of the planet. They require top level authorization from the House to access. We might be able to break them but if we used House systems to do it then intel would trace it back to us."[ ] We can ask about them later.[ ] Copy them as well.
