Happy New Year's everyone. Still no price list yet, but let's have some Tank Hunters!Twitter:https://twitter.com/SaSentinelsArchive:http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Tank+Hunters+QuestCrew sheet:http://pastebin.com/s1A9E2dr- - - - - You stare at the man across from you in disbelief. Reese Herrman, gunner of the Rex Immortalis under your father six years ago, has just told you that YOU were worthy to inherit the Rex Immortalis."You think I'm worthy to do what with the Rex Immortalis!?" you ask him."Why, command it, of course," Reese grins. But he frowns in realisation. "Oh, but not immediately, for sure. But I see potential in you, son. One day, if you're good enough, you'll be able to have it for your own."A number of questions race through your mind, but most of all, you want to ask>"Why me?">"What about my crew?">"How will I know I'm good enough?">"Where is the Rex Immortalis, anyway?">Other

>>37096727Hahahaha yeah Tank Hunters
>>37096727Holy shit! I never thought this would actually come back.>"Why me?">"What about my crew?"
"What about my crew?" you ask."Well, I've been keeping an eye on all of you. Play your cards right and I think all of you will have a place in the Rex Immortalis." He pauses. "'Cept maybe that Erich guy. Don't think he's suited to it. Your gunner though, she's something special. I know a real gunner when I see one. Ask her about her hunting trips sometime. And your driver, well, she's a pretty well known mechanic out in Dresden. She's no Michael Weiss, but she knows her way around an engine. She's a keeper in that regard." He gives you a meaningful look. "And you, son, if you can keep your team together and lead them to greatness, there's no doubt that you'll be destined to command the Rex Immortalis, like your father once did.""Anyway, it's getting rather late, and I have places to be in the morning. I'll remind you, though, I'll be watching. We'll meet again soon, I think." Reese Herrman stands up, taking his hat, and as he makes to leave, he offers you a hand shake. You take it, and he grips yours firmly. His hands feel like tough leather. With a nod and a salute, he leaves the New York, leaving you behind with much to think about. You sit at the bar long into the night.1/2
You drift into wakefulness. It's been two days since your talk with Reese, and your first adventures in being a Tank Hunter. Yesterday had been spent nervously awaiting today, as you worked on your neighbour's tractor. The excitement still hasn't quite worn off.You eagerly get ready for your crew's arrival, putting on some old jeans and your father's leather jacket. You're just finishing off an apple when someone knocks on your door. You answer it and find Susan, wearing her trademark scarf. She grins."Hey, sorry for being early, but I couldn't really stand to wait.""It's fine," you say as you let her in.>Sit and wait for the rest of your crew to arrive>Talk to Susan about something

"So Susan, how are you liking the job so far?""Well, it's alright. Not like we've done much, is it?""You have a point, I guess. You like driving the Leo, at least?""It's pretty great, yeah." She spots something on your coffee table. "Is that what I think it is?" She picks up your copy of 'Engines Unlimited', an English language mechanics magazine. "Sweet! I haven't been able to read a new copy since I left Dresden a couple months ago. Oh boy, is that the new MTU MB 890? Sweet!"You and Susan talk engines for a while, talking about ways you could modify your Leo to be more competitive with some of the tougher tanks out there. After a while of that, there's another knock on the door. Sarah is standing outside with Erich, who looks very grumpy."Found this slacker at the New York," Sarah says. "Dragged him out with me. You guys been waiting long?""I've just been talking to Susan while we waited for you guys."You lead Sarah and Erich into your living room. Now that everyone's here...>Time for drills. "Alright crew, mount up! We're doing drills!" The girls hop up with some enthusiasm, while Erich makes it look like he's walking to his own funeral. You slap him on the back as you walk past him, and climb up into the turret. You strap on your cap and headset, and test out the internal intercom."Intercom test, can everyone hear me?""Clear here," says Susan."Same here," replies Sarah."I can hear you," says Erich."Alright," you say. "Driver, forwards!" Susan starts the tank up, and it lurches forwards. Within a few moments it's cruising along, following the fence-line. "Through that gate." You feel yourself leaning in your seat as Susan brings the tank around, slding it through the gate. You hear a crunch as she takes out a fence post, however."What'd I hit?" Susan asks."Fence post. Don't worry, I'll fix it. We'll work on that!"In the large empty field, you've set up some barrels, marking out the four corners of a track. Erich and Sarah, who weren't needed for this drill, hop out with a pocket watch to time the run. You were to tell Susan when to turn, as commander. The tank tears up the ground as it goes. You hit and crush the first barrel after telling Susan to turn too early, and slide a bit on the grass at turn three as Susan takes it a bit too fast, but you make an alright time. Two minutes, five seconds.1/2
You're not confident in doing on-the-run gunnery just yet, so you pick up Sarah and Erich and take the tank to a hill on one side of the field, opposite some targets you had set up."Alright, Sarah, start with the one on the left, fire at it until you hit, then move onto the next three. We don't want speed, we just want accuracy. Take your time."Sarah is confident after your last job of demolishing a house, so she doesn't take long. She fires a ranging shot that comes within metres of the two metre square piece of wood you had set up for targets. Erich loads and she fires again, this time hitting it. She hits the next target, the makes a miss on the third but quickly follows up with a hit. The final target she also hits in one shot."Easy," she says."Alright, now for speed. One shot for each target, as quickly as you can. Erich, you ready to load?""Ja, commander."You start with the gun unloaded. "Start!" you yell.Erich heaves a round of AP into the breech and shoves it in. "Loaded!" he says."I'm sighted in!" declares Sarah."Fire!" you yell. The cannon booms and the breech rocks back, spitting out the spent casing. You watch the shell sail into the target and through it. "Hit!" you yell.Erich is ready with another shell, and he shoves it in when the breech moves back into position. Meanwhile, the turret rotates as Sarah gets the other target in her sights. "Loaded!" Erich yells again."Sighted!" says Sarah."Fire!" Again the cannon booms, and the shell misses, bouncing off the mud and into the berm behind the targets. "Miss!" The cycle continues. The fourth and final shot is fired. A hit. "Time?" you ask Susan."Fifty-four seconds," she says."And only two out of four shots hit their mark," you continue. "I think we can do better.">But not right now. Let's head into town to check the job listings and anything else.>Continue with the firing drills.>Go back to driving.>Other

You take them through the drills two more times, finishing with a stop-then-fire drill. By the end of it, Sarah and Erich have gotten much better, with Sarah only missing two shots in the last drill. Erich has worked up a sweat while loading, and as you finish the last drill he tells you, "Running low on AP, Robert." Looking for yourself, you count eight rounds left of AP."Well," you say. "Looks like that's it for drills today. Susan, take us into town, we need to rearm."It's a short drive into Fulda to the local tank store, where they sell ammo and parts, but nothing neat like upgrades and such. You park the Leo in the large area set aside for tanks, noting that no one else is here and it doesn't like there has been anyone else recently, judging by the gouges in the ground. You walk into the store, which is just an open garage shed for ease of moving the parts, and go to the counter at the back."Markel!" you call out. A young man walks out from the back, wiping his greasy hands on an equally greasy cloth."Ah, Robert, nice to see you! What is it you want today? Parts? Oh is that the tank? It is the first time I have seeing it! Oh you must let me look!"You smile at Markel's enthusiasm. "You can help me and the crew load her up. We've just expended most of our ammo in drills.""Crew? (1 or two more ready rounds if using 105mm?)Though bear in mind, the hull reserve ammo is located to the left of the driver, so when the turret is facing forwards they should be just as easily accessible as the turret ammo.
>Total price of ammo: 495 marks>Funds: 925 marks>Funds after transaction: 430 marksYou grab one of the ammo carts and start bringing the ammo to your crew, who then load it into the racks in the tank. Once upon a time, you had to load it all into your jeep and take it home. With five of you all helping, though, it takes less than an hour. All the while, you introduce your crew to Markel. He and Susan hit off quickly, talking about engines, tanks, and Susan's place back in Dresden. You finally find out what drove her from Dresden."Out in Dresden, last I checked, there was a big problem between The Black Riders Legion and the THO, based around the Black Rider's 'criminal activity'. Those guys get up to some nasty shit sometimes." You can recall reading in the Tank Hunters news that the Black Riders had made some sort of deal with the Russian Empire and had gotten into a fight with the Polish 1st Hussars. You hadn't heard much about it since."I like to run a shop that's in line with THO regulations, and the THO had just issued a 'no dealings' order with the Black Riders. Some Black Riders came in, and I refused business with them. So they blew up my shop. I couldn't stick around in Dresden, so I came here. It's out of the way, but it's still on the main roads to the frontier, and the Fulda Graveyards are nearby. Made it a nice place to hide out and lay low. Now that I've fallen in with you guys, though, maybe I won't need to lay low anymore."With that, the ammo is all loaded up. Markel wishes you well as he salutes you, and then walks back into the store.>To the Job Listings>Or somewhere else if you have any ideas

You don't have any PERSONAL CRBN equipment, however. The Convoy duty will require personal gear for sure. The Patrol, you might be able to get away with just the basic stuff, though it'll be better to get some personal gear. The local wastes aren't radioactive for the most part, so you don't need CRBN to go out into the Tank Graveyards.

Back and writing
The job about a bandit camp just outside of town is a little concerning to you, and it was a THO priority job, so there was a guaranteed payout. You pull down the paper and walk over to the front desk, where the woman that had registered you the other day was sitting."Ah, if it isn't the Edelweiss Brigade. How may I help you today?" you place the form on the desk. "Ah, here about the job listing? Clearing the bandit camp in the tank graveyards? Yes, we had another team do the recon yesterday; we were very surprised when they came back only an hour later telling us about this camp. The bandits had gotten so close to town. This is your first real job, yes?"You nod your agreement."Okay, there are some things I am going to tell you about first. For one, we offer free towing and rescue with our membership. If your tank is unrecoverable, contact us on our channel, two five six, and we will send an armoured recovery vehicle to help you back to town. Secondly, as this is a job organised by us, you will have our full support in this mission. We have a full dossier of reconnaissance information here about your target, and if you request it we can send in our own back up to help you out. As we are an official body of the Tank Hunter legions, we also guarantee payment upon completion of the job. The payout for this job is about 4600 marks. Now, have a look over this, and you can ask me any questions." She hands you the dossier.
Inside the folder is a collection of photos and briefings, telling you the rough makeup of the bandit forces and where they've set themselves up. One of the photos show a circle of destroyed BMPs. According to the briefing, the bandits had disguised their fighting vehicles as wrecks, in order to creep into the town. It was only after a wiesel recon vehicle had stumbled into their camp that they had been discovered. It also appeared that there was a T-62 with them.Reinforcements are UNKNOWN, due to the disguises employed by the bandits. No infantry capabilities; they're just vehicle crewmen. The recommended attacking force is 'two armoured vehicles with accurate sights and long range capability, or one of these plus close range back up'.>Ask about support>Ask for backup>Ask about salvage>Other

The only slight threat here is the T-62. Do we really need backup or support?
>>37101627>Other>Ask staff member/crewmen the limits/capabilities of bandit disguisesIf it's just jury-rigged then we shouldn't have any issues ID'ing them, especially if we're aiming for a long-range engagement. But if they managed to get their hands on some machining tools, or if their own mechanics/engineers are reasonably competent with maintaining vehicle mobility or disguising transports as camp followers, we could be in trouble and get swarmed/zerged.>>37101707>>37101726I'd prefer infantry with anti-vehicular arms myself. >>37101729>>37101735See, the problem is that the T-62 is the only known threat.Considering the possibility of another tank team popping out of nowhere, it'd be best if we could use a more mobile unit.Unless a Te-Ke is available here...

>>37101767I doubt it, but sure, let's waste some time.
>>37101751Tankodesantniki are infantry trained to ride on tanks, and then dismount during combat.Since the tanks are so visible, they tend to draw most of the fire from other vehicles and become cover for the infantry. And since the infantry are fairly close to the tank, should the enemy attempt to exploit the tanks' blind spots and assault it (possible, even in open terrain), they run right into the tankodesantniki, who can fight back, and/or warn the tank crew of impending danger.
>>37101797How is it wasting time? We're going up against at least 3 BMP's and a T-62, just asking for some help or learning what support we have available isn't going to turn that force into 3 T-80U's and a T-90MS2
"What kind of salvage do we get?" you ask the woman."Well, if you can take it back with you, you can keep it. Not much you can take without a good recovery vehicle though. And no, the THO will not take things back for you. Not unless you pay us, and we're busy enough rescuing people out in the wastes.""What about support?" you ask."How do you mean?""Do we have a spotter or something, someone to identify the vehicles for us?""Well, our reconnaissance platoon is still out there watching the camp. They are three- ah, no, they are two Wiesel 2 reconnaissance vehicles. They will be able to relay enemy positions to you.""Great. What about back up? Any other tanks that can come help us out?""Let me check who is currently on duty today. Aha! Ohhhh." The clerkwoman smiles."What? What is it?""It's your lucky day, Edelweiss. We don't know who's in them, and whether they're just cowardly bandits or actually pretty tough raiders who know their shit.If they realize (out of desperation or determination) that the only way they can win is get in close, then they might just try it, ballzy as it is. Then we're going to get involved in an infantry versus vehicle fight - which we might still have some advantages in, but is much more risky especially when we're all green tankers.>>37101824Obsolete because infantry fighting vehicles were introduced to carry them to the fight instead.
