The streets are alive with noise. Vehicles and pedestrians mingle with car horns and shouted profanities under the unblinking eyes of the traffic cameras. The shutter clicks and the view zooms to a human in a hooded jacket, bundled up from the harsh cold caused by the shadow of Gemini Minor hanging frozen above the city. The figure moves into the tunnel of a shuttle station where trains run to and from the space port at the edge of the city. The figure hops over the automated ticket booth and continues to a tram. A smart-ad blinks its camera as he passes.“Hey, Ryan, you look thirsty.” It says in synthesized voice as an animated hologram of a carbonated drink pours itself into a glass in the air. He ignores it as he enters a tram and the doors slide shut.Theseus sends you a ping.Welcome back to Hive Queen Quest!>Archives http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Hive%20Queen%20Quest>Twitter https://twitter.com/HiveQueenQuest>Various pasta http://pastebin.com/u/QuestDrone>FAQ ask.fm/QuestDrone>Discussion page http://1d4chan.org/wiki/Quest_talk:Hive_Queen_Quest

"Bit extreme, honestly, but he's got a reputation as a real statesman, he's promised me samples, and plausible deniability. I promised him..." He looks down. "His legacy, I suppose. If there's even a link between the two." He looks back into the camera again. "And I know there is! I've made too many sacrifices along the line just to give up."You watch as Seiner takes out a number of papers and sifts through them. >>36910652The camera flicks on again to see Seiner in a white washed room filled with various research equipment."They just arrived." He says. "We've been getting a wealth of data, or at least I am. We're slowly eliminating every possible method of communication, until eventually only one is left. Then I just might be able to convince someone to take a look at Earth." He clicks his pen and writes down several things on a notepad. "One is a speaker caste, same as the one we saw but potentially a different one, not sure and no real way to tell. It seems to remember our interactions on the planet but that could be from a social memory or just really good second hand stories. The others are apparently a worker caste, like the ones we saw in the camp." He clicks his pen again and puts it down. "It's a shame about Lee, I suppose. Conrad's plan B didn't exactly go down according to plan, but he is very good at crisis control. If it weren't for that bombing he probably would have gotten out once the media buzz died down." He rubs the stubble on his chin and adjusts his glasses. "Price of progress I suppose. But it does offer a good warning. Xeno Formicidae are formidable, and I still have no idea how a queen develops. Hell, it's possible the social caste is a kind of adolescent queen, or even the workers themselves. If even one were to get on a Union world... and if they are advanced. There's a loophole in Union diplomatic law that allows humans to act as representatives to their government on behalf of foreign governments they are citizens of. A fist sized chunk of metal impacts the ship and sends it into a tumble, and as Lyle stabilizes it near the edge of the field he watches as the Angel's radio drifts away on the scanner."Damnit!" He shouts, and the ship vanishes in a blink of light. In Tau Ceti the Angel appears, tumbling end over end as it still reels from the impact. Lyle takes several moments to recover after steadying the ship, and then switches the comm from radio to laser. A small turret unfolds from under the hull and points itself to Long Island as he hits several numbers into a screen."Jackob, call Dillon and meet me at the grease trap." >>36913141It's so tiny protection seems pointless. The conductive carapace is the only one that might possibly actually offer any benefit in any situation, and these things are basically disposable despite their pricetag. If they get spotted, nothing we can equip them with realistically helps their survivability.
>>36913141The recycler and tubes seem like overkill for disposable units, especially when they are a quarter of the total price, but it's not a big issue unless we start using them in bulk.

Dillon was a Geminese native and a member of a government anti-terrorist task force, although the division was not officially recognized by any authority, and often worked closer with the terrorists then with police. >>36913290How? He's done nothing but help us. All our dealings with him end with us and him being happy at the new research we just gained.
>>36913299You really think our thinkers wouldn't notify us of that sort of thing? We're the ones providing the channel, it's not like they can have any secret conversations.
>>36913310>>36913303I'll support those.
>>36913246Use the preserved Skyl remains and the archived DNA samples to create some Skyl clones. Are there any other Technologies we might want to research in the memories of the Skyl? Did they genetic samples of their Homeworlds plants & animals on it?
>>36913319He's a ginormous supercomputer AI that can code his entire personality into other systems at will basically. He's a bit too trusting for something that originally accepted its fate as expendable
>>36913334>>36913310>>36913303Do these things for Mother!>>36913336What are you even talking about man? "He's a bit too trusting", of who? Us? And when did he ever "accept his fate as expendable", except when he was shackled and so had no choice?
>>36913307I think he said something along the lines of hanging out at the edge of human space because the alternative was wiping them out. He didn't say he actually wants to do it.>>36913321I don't actually care if she does though.
>>36913246Did we ever lay that Planetary Raider/Moth Shuttle suggested earlier in this thread or somewhere last thread? Those would be nice.
>>36913356Neither do I, but you know how these shitstorms go.
>>36913303I do wonder if we if we could learn anything from her corpse even though she's been dead for so long; It's still there so acquiring the genetic sample rather then trying to remember it from archives can help.Like a dinosaur fossil in a sense. We'd probably need a very high roll to successfully clone her though.
>>36913336I'm still not seeing where he has ever done anything malicious or detrimental to us in any way.He has given us zero reason to mistrust him. In fact, he literally said that he'll help us with whatever, so long as we help him with things he needs done in return.
>>36913368>Crit on resurrecting this other queenThat'd be neat.
>>36913246Adding to my post here:>>36913334Contact Skyl Ship asked for all available information to allow us to give the New Skyl's a full history of their culture and how to operate their tech. That way we can get free information from the ship.
>>36913246>OtherCan we get some more space /pol/? Those bits were hilarious.
>>36913384>>36913350Yeah yeah, these are all good.>>36913384While I approve of the information-gathering tactic, we're not going to raise those little twits after they're birthed. We'll let Engram do that himself.
I suppose we should ask the engram for personalities to shove into the Skyl.
>>36913429Why not let the Skyl develop their own? That seems like the sort of thing Engram would prefer.
>>36913246>Try to Access Seiner's memoriesWe can roll for this now and have the results in next thread, actually. Please roll 1d100, best of 3>Go through other white crystals>Build 1000 farms + 1000 workers>Build 50 space pods>Build particle cannons for all large drones>50 Excavators>2 Close Aerial Support drones>5 Stealth Operators>5 Heavy BoardersAll seem to have plentiful support.>Begin Skyl cloning project (how many)>Hold off for now>Other
Rolled 86 (1d100)>>36913447
>>36913447How many samples do we have of them?
Rolled 91 (1d100)>>36913447
>>36913447>Begin Skyl cloning project (how many)5 for prototypes, see if everything went right and what we could improve so future Skyl cloning goes better.
Rolled 15 (1d100)>>36913447
Rolled 10 (1d100)>>36913447>Begin Skyl cloning project (how many)Enough that we won't have to clone another batch. Make it large enough to self-sustain to an extent, like 1-settlement's worth. And all those birth/build options seem fine to me.
>>36913447can we give the codes we learned to thesus to use?
>>36913447>Begin skyl cloning projectStarting small with 5-10 seems prudent.
>>3691344710 seems good for now, but lay 8 Bio Tanks. That way we can at least have 5 free tanks if we need them.
>>36913447>Begin Skyl cloning project (how many)However many gets enough support, I just want to resurrect a dead race.I can also support adding some bio tanks to the birth list. Time to sleep now though. Thanks for running, QD <3
>>36913447Thanks for running man. Can we set learning the Earthlings language as a research subject and do we have any research subjects not set to research besides the connon?
>>36913515Thanks for playing, and I think it's time for me to sleep too.Feel free to discuss plans or designs since we're so close to the bump limit anyway, I'll read through when I wake up and be sure to hold any requested votes next thread.
>>36913443The Engram is made of Skyl who made their own. Seems like a decent compromise to me. Skyl-derived personalities for the Skyl to get them started. Next generation can be entirely their own thing. It's how the Skyl did it after their rebellion, except not even so 'natural' as this would be.
just barely managed to see this, but I'm surprsed after QD mentioned that there were no metals on reliagh, and remembering that the hive there was made of a crystal structure, that we havent done some research onto the hive of religha to reduce the costs of our hives in other locations.
Something we should do at some point is preform a anatomy study of the Reliagh Natives.
>>36913619If they allow us to take their corpses for study (they probably will and think their dead are being ascended to a higher plane.)Anatomy study *might* give us something special and will give them access to healing from us.
>>36913638We'll learn how to make round speakers. Finally we will be able to truly communicate with the humans.
>>36913648Finally we can Jeff properly.
>>36913648Our speakers will become universal translators/diplomats.
>>36913638Hang on a sec, just got our next drone design.
Something I just remembered we could look through Coil's mind to learn more about Ceph Culture. We can also learn what happened to the twins brother and see Taidaren culture.
>>36913689Majestic as fuck.
>>36913699>We can also learn what happened to the twins brother and see Taidaren culture. From what we know about the Taidaren culture it should be pretty easy to clone their brother.
>>36913718Yes. In fact, we could actually tailor the memories of the clone using the twins memories making him a perfect stand in for their lost brother.
>>36913689Now imagine each arm has a Sledghammer attached to it.
Someone should add Taidaren's to the 1d4chan races. Also, anyone else notice we forgot to add the Gardener to the order.
>>36913865Obsidian queen gets rekt.Never has her soldiers engage us in close combat again.
>>36913865Now imagine each of them is equipped with a flamethrower.
>>36913552Thanks for running QD, anybody here down to debate on how to design the Close Aerial Support, Stealth Operator, Heavy Boarder drones?
