Background: We're in need of crystal in order to manufacture the void lance and the spiroblades. The spiroblade wasn't reverse-engineered because hephaestus lacked the software but should be able to do it now. Quarry: Are both weapons native to the dungeon or were they brought there? If the former then crystal deposits may be found there. If not, the technology is useless to us until we find crystal deposits.
>>36759333Tertis took 25 scraps he could find. But Hermes picked some signal from underground and located hiden room filled with constructs made from metal and some POWER SOURCE TECH! now we have:25 scrap metal3 metal constructs power techDatabase loads old data:Underground is safe, the moster is dead, alot of metal awaits
>>367593912 Constructs should be given mining equipment and ordered to mine out the dungeon, the remaining one should act as a Guard for the settlement

>>36759700new mining bot has several flaws but thanks to Hepheastus II robot building ability he is not bad nor really good. He has rotating pick in his right hand (can't rotate now) and can dig 25 scrap per day
>>36759714Hypothesis: Crystals have a highly dense molecular structure and would also enable the construction of superior mining equipment. Along with software bug fixes and upgrades we may reach the output of close to 40 scrap per minerbot in the future.
>>36759677If I read the OPs post correctly, energy isn't a concern for the robots, but it is if they leave, or doe strenuous work outside of the base, then they have to worry. It should also power machinery not robots which can't use the magic.
>>36759740Diagnosis appears correct, correlation in calculated choice.

>>36761185Hephaesrus builds a shrine to the gods. It is an altar stamped with the sign of the holy fear on the side and the letters RNG carved into the top. We now have a hole in our wall though. If Hephaestus sacrifices either scrap metal or the flesh of our defeated fleshy foes, it will boost our chances in one task by 20.

>>36761263I should warn you guys, until calcium gets back real life will make me update hella slow, not horrible though. If someone else wants to take over, feel free.
>>36761263Logis Tertis Mk.II requires improvement to be viable.
Pray and sacrifice so that we may either upgrade fighter bot to kick knoll ass or build a kicking ass bot,to kick knoll ass. Either way we need to take the fight to them.
Rolled 33 + 25 (1d100 + 25)Cycle initiatedOne gnoll body is sacrificed on the altar, we now only have three.Hephaestus begins to work on repairing MKII Tetris.
>>36761354The RNG gods have answered Haephestus I's prayers. With their aid, he just barely managed to make all the remaining scrap metal count. Tetris mark II is now fully operational, but not as optimal as we planned. However, we are completely out of scrap metal and H's hand is still injured.
>>36761394By not optimal, I mean there is literally no improvement beyond the first generation Tetris. The gold and armor plating was repurposed just to make him work at all. We now have 3 gnoll bodies, no scrap metal at all, and another logis tertis.
What is the basic cost of a drone? Upgrades aside. 75? 100? Do minerbots have a different cost?
We only have 10 golden circuits left.
>>36761472The average cost is 100 units of metal. The RNG gods may raise or lower it to 75 or 125, miner bots do not have a differnet cost
>>36761532Alright. I tried to make a separate tech and bonus info page since the HUD should be as clean as possible.http://dumptext.com/WmGTkb0F
>>36761617Okay, I'll post a link to that at the begining of the next thread, I assume you'll update it as the thread progresses.
>>36761617Maybe you could make it so it shows all the upgrades on the robots and what upgrades mean.We can post robot names and resources in the thread.
>>36761735There's clarification for what each upgrade does. I took the liberty to claim a gold circuit would cost 5 gold to make, and I didn't add details on the void lance since I don't care to guess that, I'll leave it to the GM.Actual upgrade for each single module would just require too much work. Did specify they're all outdated and we should just aspire to always upgrade them to the max, except with gold circuits since we can't standardize that without a regular source of gold.
>>36761785Well, as previous GM, I'll ask calcium when he gets back. The void lance was supposed to be this amazing technology left over from when the machine empire tried to colonize this area in the past. Unfortunately, it fell and retreated and we were dropped off to start it up again. The void lance, supposedly, once powered up with an insane amount of power, is turned on for a few minutes and gains the ability to dissentigrate, obliterate, incinerate, whatever it hits. But that's as far as I got in thinking. As for the spiroblade, it's just a really shard crystal saw blade that can be used on a robots arm to spin around and shred people in close combat.
Anyway I support to repair and upgrade all our units. They all need it, except Hephaestus II, unless the former GM forgot to note mini-capacitor gives them a relevant bonus as well.Say each upgrade costs 10 metal per drone, the bonuses they get are already in the dumptxt, and the two miner bots together would give 65 scrap per cycle. 75 if we give them gold circuits.
>>36761861Sounds awesome, but should also be specified in numbers what's the bonus. We never did research the spiroblade, we needed to upgrade Hephaestus I to II and never got back to it. Not that it matters, we lack crystal.
Rolled 6 (1d10)Random event occurs
Rolled 77 (1d100)Very well, cycle initiatedThough actually, the robots are bipedal, just not optimized with bipedal technology, so they don't get the discount. The bonus I suppose would be 20 to 30. But it only happens once and then we have to charge him up again. Objectives>mine up some iron
>>36761936We have partially recovered, we now have 75 metal mined up.
>>36761936If you need to rest I can GM
>>36761980A rest would be nice, just look up the thread, anon and I had a discussion about tech and stuff and a dump text. I hope my idea for the void lance doesn't contradict anything you were planning
>>36761617this looks nice
The random event opened new branch for mini-capacitor.Researchable:Regulated mini-capacitor - +5 RNG on building robots
>>36762119Could we maybe simplify the number crunching a bit? The upgrades are going a bit overboard IMHO. I find it a bit hard to keep up. Though I do feel the RNG for tasks and sacrificing stuff for a 25 bonus is okay.
>>36762161mb, but this is first upgrade to robot building. How about this :Regulated mini-capacitor - +(100-A)/10 RNG on building robotswhere A is dice roll

>>36762311Looks like this gnoll died after we brought him to our base, his brain looks not so damaged:>Brain research>Bones research>Solar research>Hyper-Capacitor research
Do our capabilities include building swarms of nano bots? If so, we could use that and definitely win any battle with the gnolls. I also think we should research building a good power source for the void spear, judging by what thought node 00 said, it looks amazing.
>>36762161Yes I'm in that thread too and it's resembling a video game too much. Can't keep up with the numbers eventually +5 this +5 that +5 that and that.I recommend we casualize the game. Keep numbers out of combat since it's going to frustrate really fast. Keep the economy in place though, just simplify it. minerbots give 25 iron per turn automatically. Each unit costs 100 iron to make. We have miner bots, we have footmen bots, and in the future super large bots or ton of mini bots. But not too many units.Make the unit HUD like thisX2 Minerbots (25 metal each)X6 Combat drones (100 metal to make)175 Metal availableResearch is noted but not really manifested in numbers, just gives OP more options to convey the fight.Or don't, whichever works for you. But there are guys reading the thread but not participating because they're afraid to screw things up.
>>36762370After many experiments we know that brain functions on some electrical impulses and fuel, the food is ... blah blah blah... saharydes.. blah blah.. We can't recreate their brain but MAYBE we can use it as main circuit in our future robots?Gain: Brain (insight)
>>36762429Yeah, maybe we should take out the combat +RNG, but keep things like claws for specialized robots. And keep +RNG for building(none likes 1 of 100 robot that screws everything)
>>36762389>>36762429The second job is free, what should we do?
>>36762389I think we could go for a horde of small spider bots eventually, but nano is outside the iron age steampunk setting.
>>36762429Yes, I agree. I think we should only use all those upgrades behind the scenes. For example, we give fightan not a bunch of combat upgrades, and heavily imply it in his descriptions.Only have one roll when doing things, and if things go wonky, then imply in the result text what upgrades stopped it from being a total failure.Hopefully we can get a fresh start with the next thread and welcome in everyone.
>>36762570If we have metal we should build a combat drone, otherwise explore the dungeon if there's anything left there.
>>36762570Attempt a third model of the Logis Tertis, renaming it to ''Lexis Tertio'' and making it larger and with a mounted ballista
>>36762506Combat works fine with RNG, just deep it simple with all of the numbers out of the way. That way we can put more focus into writing a cool story rather than number crunching.
>>36762588Worded it perfectly like how I feel.

Okay guys, we all know that this thread has built up a reputation for being number crunchy and is scaring the anons off, we don't want that, the more the merrier, so far, we have like three people?I was thinking of archiving the thread and starting a new one with a welcoming post explaining how we've simplified things and people are welcome to join in.
>>36762794I think a new thread would be good. For new arrivals a short explanation and introductory. Civ and Quest tags. Every turn OP posts options and we vote on what to do."We are a race of machines in the iron age, with the directive of conquering the world. Last threads we set up a base, dug resources and fought with the gnolls. We're about to reach a crystal deposit and upgrade ourselves." or something like that. And a HUD that should be always present. Metal digging should be automated so we can focus more on combat and diplomacy. We just decide what to do with the resources. New tech should just be mentioned in OP combat posts depending on RNG, like how we won the fight.Maybe we should have just 2-3 robot types for now. Miners and combat drones.
>>36762794Sorry if I was too blunt in the Necromancer civ thread when I said this one was too number crunchy to just jump in to for a civ noob. I'd hate to change the whole dynamic of the campaign by carelessly tossing out a few heavy handed comments when I've still been enjoying the thread anyhow.
>>36762891Nah I agree with it. Machines should have a feel of numbers, hive mind, economy and construction but the combat number crunching can just be too much and isn't machine specific. It can apply to any race. Rule of Cool is indeed a thing.
>>36762891Oh no, you're fine. In fact, the necromancer civ thread inspired me to do this thread, I sort of looked up to it as a guideline.I even feel as though calcium had a hard time managing all the numbers, of course, I don't want to put words in his mouth. Also, I feel that quite a few people in this thread already want a change. My writing skills suck, I'll never be as good as the necromancer civ thread, but it'd at least like to try a semi RP thread, and all the upgrades are getting a bit in the way.
>>36762966Didn't see any problem with your writing. First thread was as good as this one. I'm just thankful for a civ thread that starts during European time zone.
>>36762966Oh I forgot to mention, I'm the OP, node 00 who started this. I keep turning off my namefaggery when I post in other threads.
>>36763001Heh yeah, my time zone translation fu is not that great. I actually live in America though, I get up really early though on the weekends
When calcium gets back, I'll ask him if he approves making another new more RP casual thread with a nice friendly intro post. Seeing as he and I are co GMing.
Calcium wizard, are you there?
>>36763050Yeah, i aprove this. I like the numbers and the feel of some improvment with them, but we should get rif of most numbers. Yet the constant improvment and upgrades should stay, they define our Machine life
>>36763813Okay, I'm going to make another thread.
>>36763835Don't forget the nicely made map that guy made
