We even have some idea of where babies come from. Posting our "current" world map as drawn by a very kind and handsome Anon whom had the time! What new advancements will we bring to our still emerging civilizations? >>36745621>I almost gave up hope! We'll also be having a session on Sunday!!!!!!!!Also, I'll just wait for one or two more responses and then we'll get this show on the road.
Rolled 11 (1d20)>>36745548Develop better medical treatments
Rolled 67 (1d100)Idea herbs for medicine.
I'd recommend a twitter, OP. No matter how incidental this quest is, it still helps for people to know what time a session will be or if there will be no session this week.
Rolled 58 (1d100)>>36745548>>36745749I'll back this. I think we should try to incorporate magic in the process as much as possible too.
Rolled 8 (1d20)Create a scaled up bow based on the Gorgons design
Rolled 7 (1d20)>>36745548>>36745816Wrong die...I think.
>>36745871No, I'd rather cyclops go slings rather than bows.
Rolled 20 (1d20)>>36745548I thought due to our size we had four actions and 2 ideas? Or are we starting it off smalle for the thread. Regardless,Send a party led by one of our heroes to explore the island south east of the Reef Isle, it might get us a better understanding of that questionmark territory.
Rolled 38 (1d100)>>36745927Daaaamn. Well here is hoping the idea goes so well. We've been messing with stuff melting in our furnace right? Do we have any concept of how liquids work? Like What if we melt some stuff in a clay pot? Maybe we can start figuring out how molds work and get some hammer heads and stuff?
>>36745927I hope this nat 20 doesn't get looked over.

This lead to the predictable short-lives and deaths of many people whom would have otherwise been able to make it.. This however has begun to change: Stone mortar and pestles for grinding up various roots and dried plant matter to better administer herbal remedies that can treat anything from indigestion, constipation, sores, and burns, combinations of mashed up fruits and fresh water to feed to the sick, elderly, and the undernourished young and to combat dysentery, better hygiene and living conditions as the management of waste and even the use of slings and woven fiber to set broken or twisted bones back into place.Even the simple discovery of highly concentrated Alcohol as a disinfectant has saved hundreds of lives.>+HERBOLOGY DISCOVERED>+MEDICINE DISCOVERED>+You now have Herbologists and Medicine Men/Women- people whom specifically take up the trade of medicine.>+210 population. What could we build to improve the Home Island, Reef Island, North Island, or Bay Island? We could specialize each in some way. North Island would probably be a good place for a financial or cultural building (I'm thinking a theatre).
Rolled 4 (1d20)>>36746043Commune with a water elemental, it would be best to meet one on our own terms, rather than the last two elementals.

>>36745621>Develop Iron Tools>Roll 19/20 Action>Complete Success +Geomancy, +Pyromancy +Racial bonusThe various Black lumps you've managed to smelt and pour from the massive kiln you've made have become something of a topic of interest for everyone involved. The "black stone" is incredibly interesting due to it's unique physical qualities and everyone on all levels of society are interested in it's uses: Farmers, Craftsmen, and even Magical practitioners and the Sages themselves are all motivated to try and develop something from it.The Iron lumps are thrown back into the Kiln to be re-heated, re-melted, and poured into stone Molds to be made into tool heads mostly for crafting or working: Hoes, Shovels, and Hammers- simply implements where Iron can just be fastened or jammed onto a stick or a groove before being tied on. >+"SIMPLE" IRON TOOLS DISCOVERED>Iron tools remain primitive, a little brittle, but they are easier to mass produce than "stone" tools and thus are popular. A simple melting and molding and handfuls of tool heads may be made- Were as stone tools must be carefully chipped and flaked away.
>>36746153I'm of the idea that if we meet one in a non hostile sense, then it will help our sages to not have their souls evacuate through their orifices by being friendly with spirits.
>>36746043Looking at out pop, we really need a way to make more Heroes. 3 just aint gonna cut it for much longer.
>>36746233well heroes follow different rules for inspiration than sages do. And they're also a little more complicated. They tend to only arise after great feats. Like how we got our first few was from killing a boiling lizard. THat said, same great feats are likely to kill our heroes too, or kill people likely to become heroes.
>>36746292If we wrote a heroic epic we might inspire heroes on a regular basis. We do have bamboo paper, right?
>>36746320Bamboo scrolls, but yes. That would be an idea. We should get some sages together and chart the history of one of our heroes? Perhaps the one who travelled to the Mainland (he might be dead by now). His story could start as one of the first party to defeat a Boiling Lizard, and then his journeys from there.
We have advanced much in our skill in craft over the years.A new Megalith is needed, inlaid with iron and covered in the great tales of history.
>>36746375I was about to suggest that in the next voting period. Though we might not need entirely new ones.
>>36746361So long as the first gorgon is a major character, I'm happy.Gorgon heroes would be a very nice addition.
Our loveable big-eyed lugs are doing well, aren't they?
>>36746416I'm not sure the first gorgon is still alive
>>36746375A Not-Temple of Athena to honor the Gorgon's religion, possibly?I kinda want to get in good with the Celestial Serpent.>>36746450In the heroic epic. It'll be a fictionalized account of the slaying of the boiling lizard and the settlement of the mainland, so making certain historical individuals into larger than life versions of themselves is par for the course.
>>36745927>Venture out Further South of Reef Island>Roll 20/20 Action>Complete success +Boats>HERO USED (1)A Team lead by a Hero is asked by the Council of Sages to go forward and venture south- father south than anyone in memory has ever ventured: Beyond the Reefs, Islands, and to investigate what has been colloquially known as the "deep ocean" and the various small islands closer to it's boundaries. The party is gone for Months. When they do come back though they bring with them numerous personal stories, adventures, and tales concerning everything from the mundane to the magical:>"The Southern islands are a series of Atolls- Too small, too thin, but very abundant and covered in nesting birds, small jungles, and every once and a while a Cyclopes or Two whom had swum a little too far off from other Closer islands. The largest island was an impossible tall Rocky outcrop that was frequented by many Birds- we even saw a few Zizz nests.... These places though were absolutely flooded with numerous fish, and shellfish, amongst the corals. Often times our boats would float upon more fish than ocean.">"The Deep Ocean is not a place we could explore. We only ever view it from a distance: Massive Waves, Constant Storms, it existed only in the foreground as a constant black swirling mass of tempest waves....Even the Borders of it were not to be Trifled as even from a distance we could see the shadows and the visible breaching bodies of impossible huge creatures; the likes of which we had trouble comprehending. "
>>36746475I believe we merged religions, Gorgons acting as the embodiment of our stars, as we are of the sun and moon, we do need to talk to the celestial serpent soon also

It takes months, time, effort, and many boats (The reefs constantly banging them up, sinking them upon their jagged corals) but eventually something of a series of dotted Towers and Inlet carved harbors are established- these areas allow fisherman to raft between atoll to atoll and venture in between the dangerous rocks to net entire bushels, canoes, and boats full of fish and shellfish.>The Ammonite shell has dropped considerably in value due to the abundance of seafood>One Ammonite shell now only represents a mere 15 Minutes of work. >This has caused a slight disparity between coastal and inland communities economies.

This has changed though and now language is seeing more distinction between Song and actual spoken language: Songs for magic and the spoken world for business. This has also been elevated and advanced by the more foreign cultural ideas and traditions brought for by the Gorgons in the form of their Numerical system and their more intricate and advanced language that is quite displaced from traditional song. >+ADVANCED CYCLOPEAN DISCOVERED>+ADVANCED NUMERICAL SYSTEM ADOPTED>Your people have adopted a set of numbers to better keep track of things and their world and your language has adapted and evolved further- to something comparable to an actual conventional written and spoken language. >>36747164>>36747206>Attempt to Make Contact with Gorgon Civilization>Roll 4/20>Enemy roll 2/20>Everyone Fails, but they fail more.Your Scouting parties that frequent past the Walls of your Mainland community have grown bolder and more adventurous, they used to be accompanied by Gorgon guides and Huntresses who knew the Jungle like the backs of their scaled hands, but a few Cyclopes have grown quite comfortable with the land... Especially since they know pyromancy. One of your party has an unusual encounter though: While under the perpetual darkness of the Canopy- they stumble upon a break, a constant break that guides and bathes a frequented "road" that looks to be covered in a kind of growing, soft, smooth, moss-like substance?More importantly though they run right into a group of Gorgons- FOREIGN gorgons. The group seems to be some kind of entourage: a cart is being pulled by a short, elephant-footed, frilled, reptile with it's horns docked and some kind of.. leather straps tied around it's face? The cart is guarded by a few Gorgon Huntress with Bows, Spears, and knives- all of them wearing visible turtle shell visors. The entire group is lead by a Sagess of some kind? Wearing beautiful dazzling jewelry and breath taking woven robes beyond your people. Both of your people have a brief scuffle: The Huntresses try to flash your cyclopes, but when it seemingly does nothing they panic and are quickly captured and tied up. The priestess tries to flee, but she is small, unfit, and cannot out run a Cyclopes.Your Party carries them all back: The Cart, the beast, and the gorgons slung on the parties belts- hanging like banana rats.

Most Cyclopes have some capability to read, practice a trade, and just as many are familiar with some more of mundane or simple magical tricks. This has been slowly changing though.. for the better: Bamboo scrolls and Clay tablets have made reading and information more accessible, the council of sages and the newly conjoined magocracy has increased the publics view of Magics and Markets have evolved into not just places of commerce but also one of Trade demonstrations.>+OPEN FORUMS ESTABLISHED+>Public places such as the Megaliths now have the bonus feature of providing free and casual information, teachings, and tutors from the council of Sages in order to further educate the masses. Your people have a strong sense of community combined with a poor lack of personal identity- so this has lead to political assemblies to be publicly witnessed and even now Sage leaders have slowly taken a side role of educator.

That road they walked upon was grown by the Elves and extends all the way to their own fortress. The Tribute as your council finds out is a number of fine woven threads, Shiny Rocks, as well as a host of jewelry and ornaments made from a dazzling material known as "gold". They say that the Gorgons make all of these themselves in their territory- before it is delivered to the Elven Fortress. The priestess is taken in front of the Council to be questioned. She immediately flashes her "gaze" at the council and is taken back when nothing happens- She is slapped by one of your Gorgons and told to speak or there would seemingly be explicitly graphic and horrible repercussions in store for her. She says what your Slave whore is true, "We were en route to the Elven palace to deliver a fine display of our peoples finest works to broker greater control over the forest.. maybe even expel your free-loading people from it." She is slapped by your gorgon sage for her impudence. Your Council does not enjoy seeing women hit one another and they are separated."The Elves are in charge here. The rule. This is their Dynasty and has been for Thousands of years- your people have been squatters, ever since you crawled out of the Ocean."The interrogation ends. The priesest is thrown into a Cage and her fate is contemplated. The Huntresses seem conflicted on whether to stay or to go back. The Beast of Burden -The gorgons refer to it as a Triceratops- Is cooked and eaten by the Council after the interrogation.

>>36748911Yeah. We need to ask why they gave us members of their own race
>>36748946Yeah, we should have asked that.
>>36748882>>36748887you guys are worrying too much I'm sure that a nice bottle of island alcohol and a good song will make the elves our friends
>>36748826There's a chance that the elves are far too arrogant to consider any sort of agreement. After all, the least they could have done was send a small concession of people to discuss territory and our business. But! We should hold firm and stay the course. I'd probably say try to send a force with a Hero out to meet the elves and try to negotiate, despite all warning. And if their pride makes them blind to being good hosts? Then it may be their downfall yet.
((Doing actions now, hold on. Feel free to discuss current events))>Study the Paralysis vision of Gorgons.>This doesn't require a RollYour people have observed on a few occasion the paralyzing gaze of Gorgons.. from what they can gather they've witnessed the following:Gorgons usually use it to hunt lesser creatures such as Parrots and Banana rats- waiting until the creature faces them with both eyes before a flash of light is seen and snake rattling is heard. This ability has been demonstrated on Elephants and other animals with mixed effect: larger animals seem more resistant, their paralysis only being momentary. Cyclopes however seem completely immune to this. Gorgons rationalize it as your people only having one "eye" and lacking "true gaze".
>>36748982Possibly, but I wouldn't be overly optimistic. We should fight them and send a delegation. Possibly invite some diplomats to discuss things with our council. We might even get some elven babes to immigrate.
>>36749016>fight themFind them. Jesus.
>>36749003>having one "eye" and lacking "true gaze".Hurtful. How do we know they're not the dummys for having two eyes... or is it ten? Snakes have eyes too?
we should have the gorgon priestess commune with our sages, that should help her mellow out
>>36748826So what do we do with the medusa sage?Do we send her to an island so that we can get more information from her regarding elves and the Gorgon Queendom or do we give her back to her bitch queen?
Maybe the elves aren't even bad? It's possible they won a war against the evil gorgons and that's why they've subjegated them.
>>36749164I sincerely hope so.However, they might take offense to us chopping down their forest. My suggested plan is that we come to them and present ourselves as monument builders. We seek to honor the gods with our works. And, most importantly, we call the forest the Elves' monument. I think that should show the correct deference and provide equal understanding between our peoples. We don't destroy their forest and they don't destroy our megaliths. Win-win, we all get along.
>>36748414>Study Animals, Wildlife, and Nature>Roll 57/100>Minimal Success +Cultural bonus. +Spirituality bonus. +Census rollThe Farmers, Herders, Hunters, Herbologists, and even the Sages continue to grow curious about the wilds and the natural habitats of your world: The grasses, the shrubs, the trees, the reefs, the kelps, and the animals that all live in them and amongst them. With time though, patience, and a bit of magic- some of your people have dwelled deep into the heart of nature and have become quite enamored with the Song and the Gentle Hymns and chorus sung by the Jungle.. Nature sings so sweetly, it seemingly has it's own voice and tone and one that is old, but familiar- one that has been sung this whole time but has grown so natural you had forgotten it.>+Botanomancy Discovered>Botanomancy allows for limited control and command over plants, it is an applied "magic" and is a significant step from beginner elemental magics that can only manipulate or command inorganic substances and forces. >+The Fungal Forest Discovered>Through the use of Botanomancy you've discovered discrepancies in the flora between the mainland and the islands. The islands host traditional plants- their song is waving, casual, it is a very intune song that is peaceful and tranquil. The Forest of the mainland however is creeping, covering, sweeping, and smothering.. it is like that of the Mushroom or the Moss which propagates on that which is rotten. Curious.
Alright, I think that was everything.Roll for 2 Actions and 1 Idea.
Rolled 8 (1d20)>>36749229Try this >>36749094And in general, try to learn more about the elves.

Rolled 8, 19 = 27 (2d20)So before I dare suggest this as an action or idea. Should we send a party to seek out the elves? Or should we learn more from the gorgons about them first? If we do send a party should it be with a hero? Rolling for Seeking out/ Learning about the elves from gorgons as two separate actions.
>>36749330Learn more about the elves from the gorgons first. But we should probably know where the elves are, too.
Rolled 9 (1d20)>>36749205>>36749229Plant Elementals. Let's try summoning one. Think of all the improved benefits to our agriculture!
>>36749330We have a definite advantage over the gorgons and have had trades with them. But we host most of their exiles. The elves have been just watching us from the start. Only truly acknowledging us after we built our walls. They may be a bit overbearing if we try to seek them out.
Rolled 12 (1d20)>>36749205Idea: use the stars, sun and moon to develop a more accurate calendar and time system. Put it on a really big rock. Also, action: try to get the priestess gorgon and her hunters to stay with us, show them that we're good people and that they should like us
Rolled 23 (1d100)>>36749397rolling for idea

Shit rolls tonight. Really like the art that's been produced lately though!
>>36749460Gods are displeased. We should build a temple on the Mainland or sacrifice something.
>>36749339so if we seek them out... try to be sneaky and avoid detection first? again I lean towards Learning about them more than seeking them out. But damn... It be awesome to finally confront our (potential) antagonists.
>>36749492No, I wouldn't try to be sneaky. That's pretty much pointless. I'd just go right up to their city, make some observations, then go back and report to the council. Be fairly obvious.I mean, they'll likely be watching us anyway. Best to make no sudden moves.
>>36749257>>36749094>>36749330>Commune with the Gorgon priestess to derive information.>Roll 8/20>Minimal Failure. +Magocracy. +Gorgon population. +CensusThe priestess is summoned to the council -being carried in by her little cage- and placed at their circle of Megaliths. Before she has the opportunity to speak one of the Council members raises their hand, "We do not speak your language and we do not need to- we have decided to commune with you."She obviously doesn't understand, but she is quickly silenced as the Council begins their Hymn. She cannot speak, she yells and covers her ears, "No, no, no, GET OUT OF MY HEAD", her snakes coil, before she collapses on the ground- The council immediately stops, they fetch the medicine men and women to address the now unconscious priestess. They later report that she makes a full recovery, but her mind remains hazy and her ears continue to ring- she says she had never experienced such magics. This event and the one where the Sage initially communed with the Cosmic Serpent has lead them to believe there could be VERY large discrepancies between the sensitivity and acuity of Magics between these people: When a simple Hymn is enough to cause a gorgon priestess mind to recoil, when a simple gorgon ritual is strong enough to talk with the Cosmic snake herself.
>>36749701Hmmm... we might need to resolve the differences between Gorgon and Cyclops magic.
>>36749701Does this mean cyclopses deal with bigger magic Normally? Like we're more adept at it in general. Simple stuff gorgons do, is AMPLIFIED when we do it.
>>36749361>>36746634>Summon Forth a plant Elemental with offerings of Elephant Dung.>Roll 9/20>Odd 9. +Botanomancy. +Agriculture. +DungA few of your fresh and recent Botanomancers wish to commune with the spirit of the flower, grass, bud, and fruit- to understand what kind of personification it could have and represent. They offer up Dung and a Song is sung and a small poem is then recited to finish in hopes that all basis are covered and that the elemental spirit of plant is pleased...The Growth shakes, bulges, and flexes- The trees conjoin, holding their palms together like hands, before they kneel down. Their roots within the sand and grass visibly start to flex and convulse almost as if liquid is being pumped from them and the leaves form a small curtain that is quickly shed to reveal the Curvaceous, fertile, and suggestive form of a plant Elemental. She reclines back onto her trees- the palms bending and arching naturally to form a throne underneath her. "What is it you desire?" Her faces alights when she notices whom summoned her, "Oooohhh! The children of ?undecipherable? My, my, my..I wasn't expecting this!" She giggles to herself and offers each Botanomancer a piece of fruit and your people make their requests- of bounty, of fertility, of increased yields and so forth."How Quaint and boring- very well." She lets out a great, loud, and drawn out laugh before raising her arms and visibly rots away, collapses, a mound of mushrooms springing forth, only themselves quickly felling over and all brush and plant life being restored.Your Farmers report back that the crops back on the islands have become rampant, overgrown, and turned into small dense jungles. They take Months to Tend, Cull, and Carve back into suitable orchards.. the Fruit and the Timber though is of exquisite quality.
Jesus christ, I keep forgetting to post my images.
>>36750015>>36750043I like the plant elemental!Next time we summon her we should ask her how we can better serve her and the other elementals.
>>36750096We serve the spirits of the Sun and Stars. Not the little gods that the elementals appear to be.
>>36750149Still, we could give them offerings or something. It's better than just demanding things from them.
>>36750177Yeah. I've got no problem with honoring the elemental spirits as well.
>>36750259So long as we are clear that they're not Gods, but lesser spirits, I don't see what the problem is.They'll wreck your shit if you don't respect them, so we should learn how to respect them.

Through a bout of drinking your council finally buckles down to commit to building a standardized Monolith for each islands coastal and inland communities- for both record keeping AND spiritual purposes. The Construction isn't difficult on paper but it does take TIME, ammonite shells, food, rope, and STONE- stone that must be quarried, moved, geomanced, processed, and then finished by artisans. The Stones are laid out in the traditional manner: One large Monolith -slightly larger than a Cyclops- per inland community and a series of much smaller Gorgon sized monoliths to decorate the coastal communities. Long term problems however came up when it was observed that the construction was rushed, sloppy, and not only were some of the Hymn carvings in correct but the Stones misaligned. Re-construction costed additional time, resources, and men.

The culture they've brought with them has not though remained a complete "mystery" to your people. The Gorgon priestess has long since recovered and has quite since "mellowed out" retiring in the main land community and becoming something of a quiet little old lady who lives by herself with a few Banana Rats to keep her company. When asked, she goes on great length on the ritualistic and caste based ceremonies and happenings of the Gorgon priestesses. She says in the old days they used to follow a much more Animistic based religion that focused on a great cosmic Serpent and numerous other animal spirits.. But those days had since past and the more organized religion of the Elves had been adopted. Duty. Prestige. Ritual. High priestesses. acolytes, she drones out about various boring ceremonies and idols- she finishes with this, "They kept their miracles guarded though, I had never seen them do them so casually and open as your people do.. and even though you rattled my head a little I knew I could say no to so much.. POWER.. so here I am." And it was true- the influence of Cyclopean culture was observable; even in her old age she could recite a few strong Hymns and daily poems.

I have an idea for our next monument.A combination of a great library and a temple dedicated to the Cosmic Serpent. The layout is a large circle that has running throughout a monumental statue of the Cosmic Serpent devouring its tail, with polished iron disks and lanterns representing stars.Around this statue, in enclosures, are storerooms for bamboo scrolls and stone tablets. In the very center is a courtyard for reading and religious ceremonies. The overall theme and purpose of the structure should be community and the knowledge that comes from considering other opinions. It is practical and ceremonial, in equal measure.
>>36751079In a few thousand years there'll be a movie about that. And It will win several Cyclopsters.

>Hunt the Zizz with Giant Bows.>20/20>Complete Success. To hunt the Zizz is to hunt the sky and pierce the heavens themselves, but some Cyclops insist. The Hunters commission massive Bow frames to be made from the Fungal wood of the mainland. A mushroom so absolutely audacious that it defies it's nature- openly mocking the sun.The Hunters commission bow-string made from the Gut of the Boiling Lizard. A Beast that readily inflates and stretches itself out with the water it engorges itself with. The Hunters commission Arrow heads wrought from fresh volcanic obsidian. Passed from the love affair of both Earth and Fire elementals- both spirits who would relish a chance to combat Air. Finally the Hunters commission the simple farmer for the feathers of the Humble Chicken. A Bird commonly denied flight, but yet remains so proud and beautiful despite it.The Hunters kiss their wives before going out onto the sea when it is quiet and the sky is blue- a clear sign the Zizz is flying low enough to replace the skyline. The Zizz is so huge, you almost can't see it. A great mighty red bird that doesn't simple block out the sky but replaces it with a Red downy carpet of feathers only broken up by two black clawed toes peeking out.The Bows are mounted on Boats. They take two Cyclopes Men to pull back the Draw-strings and a Gorgon spotter to assist in the calculations. An Arrow is loosened right at the Zizz. The Hunters must wait for the arrow to reach the bird, but they know when it's been hit- The Zizz lets out such a cry that it shakes the ocean and it can be heard across the reefs and islands. It isn't harmed though, merely annoyed- You cannot Hunt the Zizz. It simply Soars off- creating such a backlash of wind that all the boats are flipped over and many waves come crashing down upon them... but the hunters do not return empty handed.Three Red feathers. Three Red Feathers longer than the Boats they rode back on. >+30 Heroes inspired.>Current: 33 Heroes.

>>36752118You'd think the breakneck speeds and constant wind would be a problem.
>>36752177I'm told there was a mythical bird known as the Gamaniol, which never stopped flying, even to lay it's eggs. It'd just sort of, catch them, midair and place it on its back and just keep on flying. With something the size of the Zizz it would be possible for some harpies to get up there and establish some nests, I guess.
>>36752183That's only at the canopy of the feathers.Deep into the down of the Zizz, the wind dies down to a breeze and all manner of strange animals dwell. Giant ticks and fleas that grow fat off the Zizz's blood. Giant mites that devour the layers of dead skin. Huge spiders and worms that prey upon whatever is foolish enough to pass by their dens. Parasitic plants that dig their roots into living flesh and raise a timid branch up to catch a few rays of sunlight. And of course harpies, the chosen of their god Zizz, because fuck you I like monster girls.
