Welcome to the XLIX installment of "Disney Villains Victorious."Disney Villains Victorious is a new /tg/ homebrew project based on the idea of a world, not entirely unlike our own, in which all the villains from all the Disney animated feature films were not defeated at the ends of their movies but were instead victorious, completing their goals in part or in whole. It is a world in which Ursula rules the seas, defied only by the uncatchable Pirate Lords, the cutthroat merchants of the East India Trading Company and the might of Atlantis and its magitech-toting mercenaries. It is a world where the grasslands and jungles and forests are prowled not only by fearsome primal beasts like Shere Kahn and Scar but also by the ruthless, tireless hunters that stalk them. It is a world where Europe has been divvied up between evil sorcerous monarchs like Maleficent, the Horned King, Grimhilde and Jafar, mad, inquisitorial clergymen like Frollo, and Dark Gods like Hades and Chernobog. It is not, however, a world completely devoid of courage, heroism or hope. Around the world, the PCs' characters and their allies plot and plan, fight and strive and win their own victories against the villains that would rule them. The time to fight and to be free is now.http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?searchall=Disney+Villains+Victorioushttp://1d4chan.org/wiki/Disney_Villains_Victorious

Playtest is currently ongoing. There's a big list of villains that still needs to be statted, and plenty of fluff to be written still! What's on the chopping block first?
>>36610296Kings, I'd sayAnybody still got that list about kinds still-to-be-statted?
>>36610324Grimhilde the Fair Queen of the Mirror KingdomQueen La of the Leopard KingdomEmpress Yzma of the Sunless EmpirePontifex Immortalis Frollo of the Grand ArchdioceseTzekel-Kan of El DoradoGeneral Santa Anna of the Empire of MexicoImperial President Lyle Tiberius Rourke of the Imperial Republic of AtlantisThe Huntsmen of the Elite Global Huntsman Club (Muntz, Gaston, McLeach, Buldeo, Amos Slade, King Fergus)Chairman Cutler Beckett of the East India Trading Co.King Louis of the Kingdom of the Red FlowerBagheera, Lord of the Free Creatures (done?)King Ratigan of the Under-Empire
>>36610545What should I give Grimhilde and Frollo, exactly?I'm planning on giving frollo an immunity to mostly dangerous stuff like fire and have hiim walk around with a fuckload of Holy fire, so he can just burst everything into flames without harming himself, but aside that....I'm not sure.Grimhilde is an alchemist, clearly, but not much elseGrimhilde is gonna be a Charm/Sensibility/Intelligence King, while Frollo is probably gonna get dumped in a lot of stats. He can't really charm people while being a skeleton, even if he does wear a mask, but he probably has some god-tier intelligence
>>36610599Frollo should be especially charming. The dude managed to keep his position as pope after becoming a skeleton. Do you have any idea how hard it would be to convince people to go along with that?
>>36610812It probably had a lot to do with claiming the word of God, tooWhat if he keeps his charm score high but needs to conceal his bone-y identity with a mask and long robes and gloves? If the party can unmask him for all to see he could take a huge penalty
>>36610599>>36610812Frollo is Charm and Intellect. Maybe a tad bit of sensitivity. Awful robustness, okay agility.
Hey, guy who started all those Old West villains here. Heard Nob needed some Atlanteans next, so here we go:Atlantean Hit SquadVillains/Inner CircleHelen SinclairRobustness: 8Agility: 12Intelligence: 10Sensibility: 8Charm: 10Will: 3Strikes: 4+2X where X is the number of players in the party.Skills:Prevent Harm: 5Ranged: 6Melee: 6Brawl: 6Endure: 5Deceit: 5Acrobatics: 5Stealth: 5Traits:Villain: This unit is a villain. It gains +2 to Prevent Harm and Endure rolls.Military Honor: This villain is loyal to the fault. +2 to any rolls made to fulfill orders or resist attempts to turn her against her leader.Combo: If your agility is greater then your opponents by 5 or more you may make a second attack this roundPowers: Kung-fu fighter: This character may use Agility in place of robustness for 2 rolls per round. This character may use a will point to use their Agility in place of any other trait for a roll this round.Femme Fatale: Use a will point and make an opposed roll of charm vs. an opponents sensibility. If this attack succeeds, gain +3 on all future attacks against that character. This opposed roll is at +3 if the opponent is a male.Equipment:Atlantans Flare Gun: +3 ranged. First opponent hit by this weapon has -2 to all rolls for 2 roundsAtlantean Crystal: May be used to heal 2 physical strikes once per scene.
>>36611170So wait, is this a Villain or Inner Circle enemy?
>>36611311From my understanding, Villains are at on-a-roll tier while Inner Circle are zero tier. These are zero tier enemies, I've just be calling them villains because that's what they're being used as.
I have just watched big hero six.Modern/ future splat has to come SOON. The first thing on the block of expansions.
FIRST SESSION OF THE CAMPAIGN OFFICIALLY OVER.All-new characters, all-new humor, all-new conflicts.
http://pastebin.com/Ne7SpFMJWhat a doozy. Charm characters are REALLY good at clearing mooks, it turns out. Also, inter-party conflict may need a resolution somehow.
>>36612858>party conflict may need a resolutionNaaaaw. Hilariously played out conflict is super disney. Just make sure that bearman doesn't scratch the party not-naveen and you're golden.
>>36613003Come to think of it, Nicholas is pretty similar to pre-Tiana Naveen without a banjo.Oh god why can't I stop making Disney Princes?
>>36613040>>36613003Also Flyn Ryder. But hes not really a prince.
>>36613040>>36613003>>36613078>>36612858Oh, don't make a fuss. Nick just needs to find his Tiana, and then the party will be stable.NOB, GIVE BANDIT CAMP BEAUTIFUL BUT SENSIBLE/INTELLIGENT MAID/COOK FOR US TO RESCUE. BORIS WILL NOT STAND FOR THIS BULLSHIT.
>>36613695Hope his Tiana is really, really good at traveling and is okay with nearly dying all the time, because you guys are gonna be on the move a lot.
>>36614191Hey man, there's a physical hell and people have historically dragged others out of it.
>>36613695Wait a minute.....I posted a pic of who is possibly the least sensible/intelligent maid/cook ever known to fiction....
>>36614602>posting a sensible/intelligent maid in a Disney thread>not picking Mary PoppinsYou done goofed up, Knightfag.
>>36613695>>36614191I think all that needs to happen is for him to grow up a bit. He's a very immature character, literally a thrill-chasing teen, and once he sees the darkness in the world, he'll probably be bit more mature. If he accidentally kills a man or something, he'll stop being such a happy-go-lucky dick. Or he'll just reveal himself as a sociopath, which could happen. Yay character growth!

However, finding out this info is at least a TN30, and can go all the way up to TN40.Powers, equips, and Horsey stats in a bit>>36614602Who is that anyway
>>36614710>implying he'll give a single fuckHe's gonna keep being an immature dick unless someone seriously changes him in true Disney fashion.Namely friendship and/or love.
>>36614768---Powers----Pumpkin Head (Unique!)For one Will point, the Horseman can summon and throw a flaming Pumpkin at his foes. Pumpkins are treated as a normal Agility/Robustness+Ranged attack, that causes Burning and has an AoE of 10m. Also grants a +3 modifier to Ranged when throwing the Pumpkin. The Horseman can alo use occult to boost the damage and AoE to 25m, but can't throw Pumpkins on his next turn and following actions.-Nightmare Tamer (Unique!)The Horseman is the ONLY one who can control his horse. Any other units, even with the Ride Em'! power, cannot ride the Night-Mare. The Horseman can also summon Night-Mare wherever he is.-Unconquerable + Swept AwayThe Horseman revives after he is defeated, unless defeated in or above running water. >>36614850>Power is nulled after its first use.Does that mean until the first time he is defeated over/in running water, or does taht mean that he gets only one ressurection?
>>36614850>implying you can leave behind the party charming rogue
>>36614895>Implying he won't be found by another party>Implying that won't be his backstory, left behind because he was 2cool4school>Implying that doesn't mean that the second party is the one that is actually stuck with himDo you even disney
>>36614850OH WAITI forgot his last power, the combo one.-CHOO CHOO (Combination Attack)For two Wll points from both Knight-Mare and the Headless Horseman, the Horseman rides his horse at its fullest to hit a unit. Both KM and HH roll combat rolls against this unit. HH roll is Robustness+Agility+Melee, KM roll is Robustness+Agility+Brawl. Causes Stun and Burning. Can only be used once. Can be only be used when at least 30m from target.>>36614888>does taht mean that he gets only one ressurection?Yes
>>36614694She's a nanny, not a maid. >>36614795Or kills him in his sleep for being an immature dick and fucking things up in a way that has real consequences. Also, saying "because Disney" only justifies so much. Playing consistently X Stupid characters makes it less fun for everyone else, so please let him grow. Also, if he accidentally kills an innocent man and doesn't give a single fuck, then he is a complete Chaotic Stupid character with leanings toward Chaotic Evil, and you can't justify him by saying that he is good at heart.>>36614895Totally can. He's not the party face, and his only skill that nobody else is trained in is Legerdemain, which isn't incredibly vital compared to say, Occult. We would just have a new character rolled in, preferably one who isn't a dick. This is assuming that Nick did something awful, like caused the death of a different party member by leaping out and confronting the BBEG when we were totally unable to fight him.
>>36615030Holy fuck, you really hate fun. And the Disney Spirit, apparently. Are you sure this is the right system for you?
>>36615030>mfw everyone is having lighthearted discussion about a character and suddenly Ponderous jumps in with nofunallowed and d&dshitit's disney dudechill the fuck out
>>36615030>Or kills him in his sleep for being an immature dick and fucking things up in a way that has real consequences. Holy shit dude, this is Disney. That'd never happen.
>>36615030y u haff be mad?ess only game
>>36615048No, I don't hate fun, I just know that certain characters are no fun to play with if they don't grow, and playing your character as someone who really doesn't work with others without being VERY careful about it is fine if you are the star of your own movie, but not so well if you are in a party with four other people who all also want to have fun. Also, that was literally for if he got his party partially killed. Being a lighthearted rouge is one thing, causing the death of a party member is another.
>>36615192It's y u heff to be mad. This was a theoretical nuclear option for ultimate That Guy-ness, which Nick is nowhere near.
>>36615147Sorry, reading 40k shit and this at the same time. Bad idea.
>>36615030>>36615196Sooooo you're discussing another character of a player known to be DISNEY AS FUCK hypothetically possibly maybe doing something super girmderp and anti-Disney, while totally going against the established character of the person in question AND his character, as justification for why it's a shit character and should be murdered in his sleep like you're playing 40k?Jesus christ man, it's fucking Disney. Wow. Maybe Nob should have put Klah in instead.
>>36615232>ultimate that-guy ness>a chaotic good rogue who likes doing good things because it's fun>of a player established as solidly not that guy at allliterally what
>>36615257That's fucking harsh. Also, Nick jumping out and trying to challenge Slim to single combat was an example of something that fits the character of a thrillseeker, but would be a terrible decision game-wise that would likely result in a TPK.>>36615291Literally said that he was not that guy. It was the thing right after the thing you quoted. Literally the next five words.
>Fifty threadsWe did it guys! I'm so proud! To celebrate, a new DTP, finally out of the wringer!https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ONQ38zlRwgmM90MMkENcmSZhsIhN4r1O0KqxdQn3GKs/edit
>>36615364>a TPK>attacking six mooks>for a five-man partyyou are getting more retarded by the secondtime to go to sleep and ponder why everything you have said in the last hour was utterly retarded
>>36615370Holy shit, you're right! I hadn't even noticed.
>>36615370Thanks.Also, I didn't get the idea for the Slim story from your DTPs, just thought it would be the best way for him to promote gambling and be magnanimous about it.
>>36615395A TPK attacking Slim, not mooks. Please read what I post before calling me retarded.
>>36611970well off the top of my head there are three potential spinoffs to be possibly done in the future, once the core book is truly finished;1. Non-Disney expansion: to cover other works from non Disney companies that would be fitting in this world, such as Anastasia, Swan Princess, or Little Nemo in Slumberland to give a couple examples(considering El Dorado is Dreamworks this is a kinda obvious expansion)2. Modern/Future: to cover various Disney properties that are set after the first half of the 20th Century, including much of Pixar's output and quite a few of Disney's TV output as well3. Toon World: while Doomtown has technically been removed from the setting this supplement would bring it back and use it as a way to access the Home World of the Toons, both for potential adventure possibilities and to recruit help in your quest to take down the evils of the regular worldalthough there could be other potential expansions I'm forgetting about that could be included as well
>>36615443You're forgetting the Far Future one, with Treasure Planet and possibly a bit of Star Wars, and No Rest For The Wicked, which allows players to be a minor band of villains trying to stake out their own misdeeds and accidentally save the world in the process.
>>36615410Suuuuure I believe you
>>36615443Don't forget the "fuckload of options" splat that someone mentioned, which would just include much more granularity in character design and maybe more things for creating your own races/traits/powers/magic itemsAlso, the magic splat
>>36615472I'm glad you do. I never read through the DTPs due to being a chronic procrastinator.
>>36615432Discussing hypothetical (And extremely unlikely ones on top of that) options far in advance of their completion as proof of why a character is bad IS retarded. Not to mention trying to define what a character should be for the player himself, deciding that a reasonable course of action would be to fucking murder him (!!!) if he should follow YOUR characterization of him in DISNEY, and deciding that everyone should just act like they're playing D&D because you can't comprehend that not all worlds are built like grimderp shitholes and a lighthearted rogue is in fact actually viable. Honestly, you're starting to sound like a that guy to me.
>>36615443Also, modern/future will be tricky, as that setting has just a ton of time variation. Wall-E takes place so far after everything else, you'd have to explain some sort of time warp all over again, but it could still work. Also, It would mean that you'd have to stat Toys and Cars both as playable races
>>36615443I think it's more like1. Space/Future/Modern expansionAlso can someone tell me what that animated movie about pollution was? I think it had some guy who was pollution itself, and he was sealed in a tree or some shit. It works for this setting but people skip over it.2. Jhibli expansion3. No Rest for the Wicked4. Pixar and Dreamworks expansion, may or may not be just spread out over the other expansions5.Magic splat
>>36615530Fuck it, you win, I'm That Guy. I've been hiding it the whole time and really just want to crush every atom of fun out of the known universe by killing everything. Now, can we get back to discussing actual game issues?
>>36615590Ferngully, Hexxus is the big orgasmic Tim Curry smog demon.
Also, are we just saying that any and all sequels to the original Disney works aren't canon? It would make sense to do so, just because we split from the timelines at the end of the first movie, generally
>>36615703Also, it would make things much, much simpler.Personally, I don't have time to watch the whole Aladdin TV show, and if we just discounted it, things would be much easier
>>36615778You could just look it upLike the thief guy from the third Aladdin movie can be used as a powerful Villain ad ally of Jafar
>>36615468well I figured supplement 2 would cover that as well as the more modern stuff, also one idea that got talked about for that one was to have Zurg be one of the really big bad guys, possibly with him having gone full Darkseid with that mind control plot he did in the pilot movie for that Buzz Lightyear cartoon>>36615505well of course we need a Unearthed Arcana equivalent as well, maybe give it a name alluding to the Disney Vault since that seems pretty appropriate for this sort of thing>>36615586considering most of the core setting already involves time getting screwed over so it's not really that big a deal(I figure old Churn Bog's sealing of God basically broke the time-space continuum, which for some reason people in these threads have a hard time grasping), also for the Cars I'd stick them in Toon World actually, or maybe another alternate future, and I'd suggest completely ignoring Toy Story as it's own thing(although maybe have Sheriff Woody show up as a normal human NPC in Alameda Slim's territory and find other places to stick other characters from that franchise in where appropriate)>>36615590Hexxus, I suggested long ago that we have him be covering much of Australia in his death smog, and basically be overrun by hideous mutated wildlife, also Ghibli would be part of the Non-Disney supplement>>36615703most are, although elements from Aladdin, Little Mermaid, Hercules, and Tarzan's shows(and Aladdin's sequel movies) are canon to this>>36615778yeah but there are too many neat things from it and the other shows just to discount them(and we've already integrated some TV show elements into the setting as it is to just throw them out)
>>36615803Who has time for RESEARCH?my darkest secret; I haven't watched a disney movie other than mulan in six years
>a good majority of this thread
>>36615803>>36615815Okay, so how about the sequels as being not necessarily canon, but they can be canon if they have good things. So we don't have to worry about contradicting them, but we take what we think would improve the system as a whole.>>36615825GASP!>>36615815y u no playable action figures?
>>36615825>hasn't seen WALL-E>hasn't seen Princess and the Frog>hasn't seen toy story 3>hasn't seen Tangled>hasn't seen FUKKEN RALPH>hasn't seen Brave>hasn't seen FrozenAnd that's just the good ones from the last six years.
>>36615825NOB HOW COULD YOUWE TRUSTED YOUYOU A SHITA SHIT
>>36615893mostly cause they'd be hard to make useful(also cause using characters in Toy Story in other contexts would be more interesting, not to mention if we have the Buzz Lightyear show be part of the Modern/Future supplement it would really complicate things)
>>36615894Wall-E, TS3, and Ralph aren't Disney movies by our definition>>36615825How many hours do you have? Prepare for the incoming forced marathon viewing by the entire thread
>>36615825Just have or be related to a small childESPECIALLY a girlYou'll see a shit-ton of Disney moviesTrust me, I know>>36616000We do have tiny bugs being very useful, so I don't think usefulness would be a problem
>>36615520That's just as well, I'm a chronic procrastinator in the writing
>>36616041I think you just suggested someone have a kid for the purposes of seeing more Disney movies. Not quite sure if that is a good reason to have one, but I can't argue with results
Mechanicles, Mozenrath, and Mirage could be useful characters from the Aladdin series potentially as Villians under Jafar(maybe even Inner-Circle for Mirage and Mozenrath)
>>36616163 Forgot to put a description of them for those unfamiliar.Mechanicles is a Grecian Inventor with OCD, in the show he wanted to dominate the world by means of the insectoid robots he created.Mirage was a Bastet looking catperson who was from what I remember just absolutely crazy evil, all she really wanted was to see good get destroyed so pairing her with Jafar works pretty well.Mozenrath was an asshole sorcerer from the 'Land of Black Sand' he controlled a hoard of undead monsters and murdered his dad who was apparently a fairly big time sorcerer.
>>36616281don't forget that Mirage is a goddess so she'd be a very potent opponent to fight(indeed in some respects she's more dangerous than Jafar is)
>>36616331She was? I thought she was just really tricky and powerful and visually based off of Bastet?
>>36616281They could work. Jafar is kind of starved for decent villains
>>36616355well I could be wrong
And the night-silence starts to set in.

Villain-statting guy here, how would you people feel about the Wild-West Villains being based on the Four-Horsemen + Pestilence
>>36618625Isn't Pestilence already one of the horsemen?
AND WE'RE BACK>>36618642NoThe Four Horsemen areConquestWarFamineAnd DeathPeople substitute Pestilence for Conquest a lot, don't know why.
>>36618847I prefer pestilence over conquest, despite it not being original. War sorta includes conquest, as a matter of course and pestilence is a pretty good end of days element.
>>36618847Actual interpretation is hotly debated even today, over the centuries the Rider of the white horse has been identifiead as Conquest, Victory, Strife, Plague and an abstract representation of the anti-christ.
>>36618847Semantics aside, four horsemen would be a good Wild West-themed villain set.
>>36618889Cool, I'll get working on them tomorrowAfter I finish the Headless Horseman's thoughGood night guys
Just got done watching Summer Wars, humanity's pretty fucked if Love Machine won.
to anyone whose out there, this thread is dying, please help me
>>36620652The lack of continental interest in the project still baffles me.
I have to study for 6 exams over 5 days and can't appear much in this thread until Friday night, so there's been something that's been on my mind I want to throw out there: Once we are done statting the kings and have agreed upon new definitions for sizes, we should compile a list of how to use every skill can be used with every attribute. I believe that it was only 2 threads ago that we determined Stealth could be used with every attribute:>Robustness: Pick up a piece of scenery and walk behind it as you approach your target. If the piece of scenery is sufficiently large, onlookers will doubt their senses when they see it moving.>Agility: Typical stealth; don't step on a dry branch, duck behind a corner when someone looks your way, etc.>Intelligence: Find the path of least disturbance.>Sensibility: Move incredibly slowly and employ camouflage. Like a crocodile in the water, you might be seen, but you won't be perceived.>Charm: Blatantly bullshit your way past anyone who sees you.
>>36620652>>36620742I have guests over, give me some time, damn it.I'll get to statting up Grimhilde later tonight, but it's gonna take four or six hours>>36621145Now this could be interesting. Reminds me of the whole "what TN does what" thing we had going early on.I predict Charm is going to always be the "bullshit your way through this situation" unless it's persuasion or music. Pic related is the face of Charm
>>36621299we never did finish the example TNs.... I'll see what I can do about that.
>>36621299Charm is an attribute, persuasion and music are skills. I think you may have it confused with deceit.
>>36621145For Robustness though, there'd need to, y'know, actually be a piece large enough to pick up and move in the current scene.
>>36621299I believe Melee+Charm was used to impress women by swinging a sword around.>>36621774There's Deceit, and then there's DISNEY-STYLE ABSOLUTE BULLSHITTING.
>>36621817Bullshitting = deceit. That isn't stealth. It just isn't.Putting Disney-style doesn't make it stealthy, you are still bullshitting, so that qualifies as deceiving them rather than stealthily walking by him. In general, if they see you and you get them not to care, it's Deceit, if they just don't see you, it's Stealth.
>>36621794And the more Robust you are, the more options you available to you.>Middle of a Forest>Average Guy>"Blast it all, if we only had some sort of portable object to hide behind!">Robust MacBuff>"I got this.">*rips tree out of the ground*>>36621888>Charmer McDashing caught by guard.>"I'm not actually here.">Guard momentarily stunned and unable to perceive anything out of sheer disbelief of the audacity of Charmer pulling such a stunt on him, giving Charmer enough time to sneak away using conventional methods.>When the guard snaps out of it, he dismisses the whole thing as a figment of his imagination. Also, is anyone else getting 502 Bad Gateway over and over again? I suspect that the no Captcha experiment going on in /pol/ is ruining the entire site.
>>36621794Or something minuscle like a single branch, too stupid too fail and all that.
>>36621888This is based off of the fact that we rolled Disguise up into Deceit. >>36621929I'm getting 502 as well. Fucking /pol/. I'm just saying that by saying "I'm not actually here" you're lying, which is Deceit, and not Stealth. Once you "sneak away using conventional methods" I'd say you just are rolling Stealth+Agility after you got out of a bad situation with a Charm+Deceit roll.
>>36622012Only the most inept henchman do that, and it doesn't tend to work. That's just a Kronk thing to do.
>>36622056And yet I still think it would work, seeing as mooks are generally not very smart.>>36622043I would say using sheer audacity to pretend you're not there would be Charm+Stealth.
>>36622043Ah, but you're not deceiving the guard at all. You're saying something blatantly untrue, and you're saying it with such great confidence and matter-of-factness that the target is blinded by cognitive dissonance.
>>36621929Or maybe charm+stealth should be trying to look perfectly natural and in the right place. A man skulking around corners on his tiptoes screams "intrder", but a man just walking around like he owns the place and whistling?
>>36622096Wouldn't that just be a really high TN thenAnd it would still be deceit
>>36622096From a balance perspective would that work? If you can do that, then Deceit was just nerfed considerably, because now I don't have to be able to lie to lie to people, I just have to say things that aren't true with confidence (which is lying). From a skill perspective, that fits the skillset of deceit more than the skillset of being stealthy.
>>36622115Deceit is only when you want to trick someone into believing something that isn't true. This making someone doubt their own senses by doing something that flies in the face of all rational thinking.
>>36622135Deceit is one of the main combat skills in the game, one of the most widely used social skills, and can be used to heal. I'd say it could do with a little LESS utility.
>>36622135Sneaking by with deceit would be more like>>36622097
>>36622148But that's literally what a high TN for deceit would beIn fact, I think in that thread a bunch of people we're making example TN's with, TN 35 or 40 was "Make someone believe something blatantly untrue"Which is what Charmer would be doingMaking the guard believe something blatantly untrue
>>36622090Not being very smart and being unable to see a man because he's holding a stick are not the same thing.>>36622152Have you seen anyone use deceit for combat? If you want to roll for a social strike, persuasion is just as good a choice, and Intimidate is much better (as you can roll it with more attributes and it can benefit from better traits). I'm just afraid of Stealth being used for Super-Lying making Deceit near-irrelevant. Social characters have a major skill tax anyways, as they have to take Deceit, Persuasion, and Intimidate if they want to cover all their bases, as opposed to the Ranged-Only or Melee-only combat skill of a physical character.>>36622210Exactly. And now I'm getting connection errors again trying to post
>>36622210At no point does the guard believe anything that is blatantly untrue. He is told something blatantly untrue with such confidence that he starts to wonder if anything is true. He is paralyzed by cognitive dissonance until the statement becomes true, and, determining that it must have been true all along, then he carries on.
>>36622237So you are rolling to plunge the guard into ponderous nihilism, blinding him to the world by forcing him to question fundamental nature of existence, all because you said "I'm not really here"? This seems like stretching pretty far to be able to roll anything you want to with Stealth.
>>36622316If you can pull a MacDuff with Robustness and Stealth.....
>>36622237But anybody could really do thatLet's say I'm a guardIf a Monkey told me "I'm not really here" I would be stunned because hey, talking monkeyIf a Dude told me "I'm not really here" I would just be stunned at his stupidityIf a 300lb Gorilla told me "I'm not really here" I would wonder why the fuck is there a Gorilla here and why the fuck is he talking and oh god am I going to die from a 300lb Gorilla from the zooI would be stunned
I think we should just not have charm with stealth, it's REALLY useful already. Maybe a bit of balance there?
>>36622444>it's REALLY useful alreadyNot if we can have every skill rolled with every attribute. Most skill/attribute combinations should have caveats, though. Stealth/Charm's caveat should be that it works either poorly or not at all against those of Intelligence or Sensibility of at least 8.
>>36622506Actually, if you're rolling to start them on a philosophical path of nihilism and questioning the nature of existence, then it also shouldn't work against those of Intelligence of 6 or less, as they are used to not understanding things and just assume you are a liar and stab you just to be sure, because they are guards and stabbing strangers is kind of what they do. Basically it would just be a combination that would have absurdly high TNs always.
>>36622598>nihilismSolipsism, actually. But yeah, rarely should Stealth/Charm be considered the best idea, especially when Deceit/Charm will just bluff you past the guards.
>>36622148so basically telling someone "you are a duck" ?
>>36622737The guard has had a lifetime of being pretty damn sure he's not a duck.....unless he is a duck, in which case the guard has had a lifetime of being pretty damn sure he's a duck. However, he has only seen you for a matter of seconds and is thus much less sure of the reality of your existence.
Would telling someone the beer they just drank was in fact full of ethanol and dihydrogen oxide and they'll soon start feeling the effects be Deceit or Science?
>>36622860That's a good question, and in that case I would say the GM would decide or let the player decide.
>>36622827Okay so how about "you are not staring a this tree", how's that for you?
>>36622827THENTHATISDECEITMAKINGSOMEONEBELIEVESOMETHINGBLATANTLYUNTRUEKnight plsplsJust make charm not work with stealthSaying all skills should work with all attributes is silly
>>36622860Science+Charm. Science to know all the fancy words, Charm to OOGA-BOOGA them over the other guy.
>>36622890Have you been reading this thread, or did you pick a thread at random to be contrary in? The untrue statement becomes true while the guard is paralyzed by cognitive dissonance.
>>36622874Another question: would accept Intelligence+Occult to form up some scary big words into what sounds like a curse and let the listeners draw their own conclusion as a form of social( well, intellectual) attack?
>>36622963I of course meant "would you".
>>36622963I'd have to say it's like>>36622894The skill lets you know all the big scary words, and Charm lets you OOGA-BOOGA them.
>>36622963add the party Strong Guy downing large amounts of Beetroot juice and shower gel and you have the perfect way to clear a path in the archdioceses, or anywhere really..
>>36622890One of the designated goals of the system was to be able to use any attribute with any skill. Sorry that you didn't actually bother to read up on the system before deciding you knew all about it.>>36622963You'd probably need Charm to convince people that you were cursing them rather than just rattling off an incantation.
>>36622944So, you're saying that due to a fundamentally subjective nature of reality, you can make your skill at sneaking around make you good at lying? The point is that lying to someone, or "making an untrue statement true via cognitive dissonance", is not and should not be based on skill at sneaking around, which is what Stealth is. You can try to use it for being stealthy, but that just isn't in the same skillset.
>>36622996Oh, and if this is heading to the conclusion that any skill can be used with Charm to produce a social strike, I would like to point out that perhaps a social strike caused by a skill other than Deceit, Persuasion or Intimidate can, in addition to Insight, be resisted by the same skill, perhaps even the attribute the skill is typically rolled with. The last two examples might be resisted by Science and Occult respectively, both resisted with Intelligence.
>>36623108The Charm is used to induce cognitive dissonance, and the Stealth is to sneak away conventionally without snapping them out of their stupor.

>>36623108This is not a simulationist system. This is a system based off of children's movies, disney movies in particular. In them sneaking is in fact rarely just being light on your feet, but completely implausible logic and in a couple cases involves convincing someone that you're not there while hiding. I don't know why you're trying to turn this into a 3.pf system of ONLY ONE ATTRIBUTE PER SKILL!!!11!!!!! system, when it was never intended to be. If you can justify HOW you're doing it, you're at least allowed to attempt it. I'm going to vote against any hard 'no you cannot use this attribute for this skill' methods. Sure, it may be harder to use Intelligence for Athletics, but if you can justify to me how you're doing it, you get to make your roll.
>>36623097>One of the designated goals of the system was to be able to use any attribute with any skill. Not him, but that seems a little; hard, to do. >>36623742>Pic unrelatedWell, the filename describes the ideas, at least.
>>36623208Okay, there are a couple of issues with this. 1. I'm not saying "ONE ATTRIBUTE PER SKILL!!!11!!!!!" as you put it. I'm arguing against one justification for one combination of a specific attribute and a specific skill, because I feel like it steps on the toes of another skill.2. Saying that everyone who you disagree with is trying to turn the system into 3.PF is just reductive.3. It makes more sense fluff-wise for that to fall under a different skill: Deceit. I'm not arguing that something shouldn't be doable, I'm arguing about how we classify it crunch-wise
>>36623938It steps on the toes of a vastly wide and almost all-devouring skill.2: You've argued heavily for 3.5e-ish mechanics in the past, frequently.3: There is no good reason for someone to not be able to use Stealth+Charm for a particularly cunning disguise or good method of convincing someone.
>>36623938Possible solutions:>Mental skills, Social skills and Physical skills>You can use Agility or Robustness with Physical skills >You can use Intelligence or Sensibility with Mental skills >You can use Charm or Sensibility with Social skills.I'm not saying it's perfect (the double reliance on sensibility is a slight issue) but I think it could work with some refinement.
>>36624055No real reason to add more classifications for the 'because' reasons. If you can justify how you're doing it, you get to roll. If I recall, one of the original concepts was to use Melee+Charm to pretend to be an excellent fencer and impress someone.
>>36624038>2: You've argued heavily for 3.5e-ish mechanics in the past, frequently. And here is the problem with being a namefag. People will judge you for your past actions, even if you've changed your opinions since then. Also, why wouldn't they use Deceit+Charm? That's what Deceit means.Hell, why don't we roll Deceit and Stealth into one skill? Call it Subterfuge or something Subterfuge+Agility is sneaking, Subterfuge+Charm is lying. Done.
Other examples I've thought of, albeit some are quite limited:Robustness or Agility with Persuasion or Deceit: Using your physical capability as a key part of your argument/point.>"Trust me, I'm tough enough for the job.">"I can totally run across that tightrope; do I not look like the sort who can?">"Look how big I am, I can't possibly be that fast.">"Just look at how skinny and weak I am!"Robustness plus Mechanics: repairing a vehicle when it requires very heavy parts to be replaced.Ledgermain+Charm: Compensate for your lack of nimbleness by relying more heavily on misdirection.
>>36624055Nah, I think the system is fine as it is. You just need some creativity to justify it, even if you have to stretch just a tiny bit.
>>366240821: Because then "Subterfuge" is now an incredibly wide skill. It does too much for the points you put into it, where it becomes a bit ridiculous to put points into anything else.2: Because you're not specifically trying to convince someone, you're using a good disguise you made yourself. Honestly, the skill Disguise was broken up for both Stealth and Deceit, i'm not sure why people think it was rolled into just Deceit.
>>36624116All it does is sneaking and lying. Is that really so wide?
>>36624130Sneaking, lying, attacking, and you can use lying for an awful damn lot in an RPG where occasionally the laws of physics bend for comedy purposes.
Okay, important detail: Are we capping our non-Atlantean technology to the Roaring 20s or WWII era? This is going to determine how cool-looking the available motorcycles are going to be.
>>36624433We can probably go as far as the 30's but not further. I don't see atlanteans so much advancing their conventional technology as adapting existing designs with "new" magitech.
>>36624476>>36624484Alright, there were cool Harleys in the late 20s anyways. And speaking of the 30s, did the Great Depression even happen?
>>36624553the Great Depression was probably put on hold by the whole 'world is taken over by time-travelling evil forces" thing.
>>36624055I think that narrows people down too much personally. >>36624038>You've argued heavily for 3.5e-ish mechanics in the past, frequently. You said that, and I quote, "you're trying to turn this into a 3.pf system of ONLY ONE ATTRIBUTE PER SKILL!!!11!!!!! system"I never said anything of the kind. That's just saying random bullshit to try to smear me. >a vastly wide and almost all-devouring skill.I've been in a majority of the playtests so far, and the campaign session, and I've seen people roll deceit a fraction of the times I've seen them roll Stealth.

For Frollo, what do you guys think of an ability that heats up all magic items to the point where you have to make an Endure check to hold them and if you fail, you have to put them down or take a strike? It fits his whole fire and magic-hating theme.
Placeholder Name: For one will point, Frollo can heat up all magic items held or worn by the players. This effect lasts for 2 turns, and forces all players wearing or holding magic items to make a TN 30 Endure check to hold onto their items. If they fail, they must either drop the item in question, losing all bonuses associated with it until they take an action to pick it up, or take 1 physical strike. Armor cannot be dropped, although you could take it off with an action.

>>36629815And so is any sort of opponent that can fly indefinitely and teleport to anywhere in their realm at will, but you don't hear anyone complaining about Maleficent.
>>36629603WHO CRUNKA DEN US?
>>36629889Nothing wrong with flying. Ya, teleporting is a lot, but its power at least specifies that it could be potentially blocked. Also, Maleficent is a cruel sorceress fae Queen whose power is inextricably linked to her land.Teezekal-Kan is still a human, and has nowhere near as much power as other sorcerer types
>>36630100>Ya, teleporting is a lot, but its power at least specifies that it could be potentially blocked. And what if the GM decides it can't? We can't stop him from doing that; we can't even force him to use the statblocks we've written up. We have no choice but to have good faith in any potential GMs.
>>36629627Fine, fair enoughIf I remember right, someone suggested a different set of powers for Tzekel-Kan in the last thread. What if instead of bleeding, we treat his "Blood magic" as sacrificing his own strikes, or getting to use one of his powers every time he takes away one of his enemies' strikes?
>>36630260Well, if we go by that point then it stops being our problem, really. Anybody can run any setting however the fuck they feel like. What we are doing here is setting up rules that we'd all agree to play under. If the guy wants to make Maleficent the ultimate evil who can curbstomp Hades, Chernabog, marry Rasputin and rule the earth we can do nothing to stop it.
>>36630260Well then, that's the GM directly going against the wording of the ability. That's his fault. This is different because we are handing a GM a toolset which has this built in. We give him a remote, and all he has to do is push the button.Yes, with any King the GM could go grab a different remote with an I Win button. But we can neither believe in good or bad DM's, but we need to give them the best tool sets we can.
I vote to change Tzekel-Kan's powers to:-Needs More....Soul.Spend one Will Point, and add Tzekel-Kan's Occult score to his next attack. If a Strike is dealt, restore one Will Point OR use the next Power without having to pay a Will Point-AnimateSpend a Will Point. Tzekel Kan's next three attacks also use his Occult+Intelligence, with a +3 bonus for every Strike that Tzekel-Kan has lost.
>>36630389>but we need to give them the best tool sets we can. Some of the best tools in the world can fucking kill you if you don't know what you're doing. And yet, most safeguards are built not with the inept in mind, but users who know what they're doing and fumbled or suffered a lapse in diligence or attention.
>>36630649These seem much better.>>36630675We consider players to 'know what they're doing' in the sense that they know the system. It's irrational to assume that all players/GM's will have years of experience running games. Past that, if a Kings powers work in such a way it's logical to play those characters using those abilities.
>>36630649He needs more powers then, or he'll run out of powers to use faster than he will Will. Also, he needs some method of restoring health.

Reminds me of that moment in the movie where he pushed that guy into the magic pool.If we assume he'll have leopard warriors or at least stone jaguars, it seems okay to me. Stone jaguars oughta need a lot of...soul to move, and draining that away oughta give him a boost. What does it sound like?

So, can I add Grimhilde to the 1d4chan page?It seems like she's fine and nobody else did, so if it's okay, I'll put her there.
>>36633027There's no reason not to, but I think she still needs a little more umph before we use her.
>>36633204I hear ya, but I don't know what else to add.I plan on adding the "Poisonous" trait for every attack with a weapon, but I don't know what else would be a good idea. I've seen the other suggestions but just slapping magic into her feels...odd.I was under the impression that she'd be that one boss that isn't all that hard by herself, but can absolutely and completely fuck you over BEFORE that. Be it by ordering her huntsman after you, or by being able to morph into anyone around you and sneak a poison in your drink without you noticing
>>36633288Something to do with the mirror? Like-She Sees You When You're SleepingAll stealth rolls suffer a -6 modifier against Grimhilde, and suffer a -5 modifier when under scrutiny by Grimhilde through the Mirror.
>>36633552Wait, can you even use stealth at all against the mirror?I was under the impression that unless you had a protection charm or spell, or anything to hide yourself from the mirror you could try to be a stealthy as you wanted and the mirror would still show you no matter the disguise if she asked. And I dunno, giving her a power that's dependant on the mirror feels a little odd. Makes her less of her own character, I suppose....But then again, she had little to no character in the original, so who knows
>>36633552I don't see how the mirror helps her when she isn't looking through it, though.
>>36633288To be fair, Grimhelde is a witch, and did dabble in magic in addition to poison.Maybe something like:I Have Seen- Grimhilde may always act in a surprise round. Spend a will point. For the next round, Grimhilde gains +5 on all her rolls.
Maybe something to do with illusions and smoke, like someone else suggested. Now that I think about it, it seems quite fine. How to implement it, though?>>36633742That sounds fine, but what exactly does the name mean, anyway? Also, it's well past time that we get the Beast races onto the wiki. I would, but I haven't actually ever made a new page on it, and I honestly don't know how.
>>36634613>>36634581AlrightMagical Potions table. Reminder that I'm sorta making this up as I go.-Change Form (Minor)"Easier" to make. Changes you from a young man to an old woman, an old woman to a young lady, a kid to an adult, and way the all around. Changes your appearances and physical attributes, but you will ultimately still be human. Aside antidotes and spells, it should eventually wear itself out slowly.-Change Form (Master)A lot harder to prepare. Changes you to any other species, or size, you can think of and gather the ingredients for. Can't be reversed without an antidote, a spell, or things like that-Change MatterMake stone into clay, make clay into silver, make iron into sand, make lead into glass. Can either make it so that it only works on the thing you want, and turns it into only what you want, or make it random.Poisons:-DeathlySimply put, you poison someone. Can be slow or fast, calm or painful depending on the alchemist.-CursedPoison someone into an eternal sleep, into a state of madness, into losing their sights forever. Pretty much the "Sadistic bastard" option.-PenaltiesMake men and women weaker by the minute. This won't "kill" them per se, or even curse them forever, but they will feel like old cats dragging themselves through the floor, eventually.Tonics:-LongevityLive longer! Although, of course, it is just spreading the butter too thin on a bread that is too big. You won't feel good about it, and you won't age gracefully, at least not past a certain point. But you'll be around for a little longer.-BoostDrink this, and become the STRONGEST THERE IS! Or fastest, or more sensible....For a short period of time. Could be addictive and harmful in big doses, who knows?-Spellbreaker (Master-level)If you know the spell and you know your trade, this will cancel out that magical ooga-booga the fucking wizards put in you. Hard to make, needs to be specific, and could be quite dangerous....But it *should* work.
>>36634920That's essentially what came to me. It is three AM in here though, so if it is stupid, I'm blaming that and coming back to it tomorrow
>>36634920>>36634942As for what Grimhilde has or can use, I"d say she's got at least two of each for her Boss Fight, except for the SpellbreakerShe needs to spend at least two turns to prepare one though, but she can spend a Will Point to cut that time in half. How does that sound?
Me and you Statterfag, we're gonna stat these Kings and Villains. Also Knightfag, that guy too.And it also turns out the Headless Horsemen is TWO Villains.Name: The Headless Horseman's Horse/Knight-MareRole: Villain/Nimble & Strong GuyClass: Warrior Guy Who's Actually a HorseSize: LargeSpecies: Horse/Drafthorse---Attributes---Robustness: 15/14Agility: 17/14 (18 during night)Intelligence: 6/14Sensibility: 8/14Charm: 10/14Will: 3/3Strikes: 9+X2, where X is the number of party members.---Skills---Acrobatics: 5 + 1 from role.Athletics: 9Intimidate: 7Brawl: 7 + 3 from Natural Weapons.Prevent Harm: 6 + 3 from Villain trait, and role.Endure: 6 + 2 from Villain trait.Linguistics: 3 (Mammal, Human, Undead)---Traits----VillainThis unit is a Villain. It gets +2 to Prevent Harm and Endurance.-Bull Charge+2 to Brawl when charging into combat.-Creature of the Night+1 to this unit's primary stat during the night.-MountThis unit is a mount. It can be equiped by another unit to provide bonuses to stats. Mount and mounting unit still count as separate entities, but must stay together.Powers in a bit
>>36635167---Powers----Knight-Mare (Unique!)For one Will point, Knight-Mare can wield a Melee weapon to improve his Brawl for the next two turns. Bull Charge bonus is also doubled.-NightmareSpend a Will point to make a hallucination of a chosen target's greatest fear. Chosen unit must make a Sensibility+Insight roll of TN30. If failed, unit is stuck in a nightmarish and is stunned for two whole combat turns. If roll is succeeded nothing happens. If roll is failed bad enough, as in below TN21, unit also takes a Strike in damage. -Demonic StareChoose one target. +3 to Intimidation rolls against them for the rest of the scene.-CHOO CHOO (Combination Attack)For two Wll points from both Knight-Mare and the Headless Horseman, the Horseman rides his horse at its fullest to hit a unit. Both KM and HH roll combat rolls against this unit. HH roll is Robustness+Agility+Melee, KM roll is Robustness+Agility+Brawl. Causes Stun and Burning. Can only be used once. Can be only be used when at least 30m from target.
What is a good number of Strikes for Frollo?
>>36635874Depends. I'd say 8+3X.
