>>36607320Last Thread: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/36471945/Last time our civilization continued to advance into it's new Hym: Gorgons were brought to us from the mysterious depths of the mainland forest and their immersion into our civilization has been slow and steady. An Earth Elemental wrecked havock on our "home" island community when we grew bold and lazy with our magics and it proceeded to ruin our megalith and kill 2 of our heroes. Mysterious Black and Red rocks were summoned forth from deep underground- What could they be? Ammonite Shells have been established as the standard currency -their wealth determined by how long it took to harvest and prep them-. Numerous other Island communities have also joined up and have been established and the world continues to become smaller and smaller. But, the threat of Elves, Parrots, the dangers of the mainland forest, and various magical and natural disasters loom over in our heads... what does the future have in store? Will our people ever discover metal? How long will our civilization last? What of the rest of the word?Either way, you now have a large enough Civilization that you can begin to do a LOT more things and think up a lot more different ideas, concepts, and innovations. With 4 islands, 14 villages, 1 village on the mainland, and 2 different species- shit is about to get down right advanced.STATE 4 ACTIONS AND 2 IDEA/STAT ROLL:ACTIONS ARE D20. IDEAS ARE D100.
Rolled 3, 17, 9, 15 = 44 (4d20)>>366074464 Actions! 2 Ideas! And I was overwhelmed by choice before! Okay actions first.Last time we got weaponized Hydromancy (with martial arts) and armed the population. Perhaps with our other two heroes we can start setting up Militias on our two main islands (since the third is busy on the mainland)We brought some great boulder from deep within the earth last round too. So I say have our sages and craftsmen study it. See what it could yield if used properly. (Not sure if action or idea)Are the parrats/kobolds still a problem? Maybe send a party of cyclops to see what those little pests are up to.Have Gorgons start telling us about this "great enemy" their Great Snake God told us about. (again not sure if idea or action.
>>36607651Just waiting a little longer in the mean time:Drew a little bit better of a map outlaying Islands, where elephants are, and various routes, etc..
Rolled 17 (1d20)>>36607446I think it's time we formally greeted the Gorgons on the mainland. Send 2 of our heroes and a few of the integrated gorgons to meet them. Maybe bring a few tamed elephants bearing gifts.
Rolled 14 (1d20)>>36607446YOU'RE BACK!Investigate those rocks our geomancers dug up.
>>36607763Consensus for the bonus
>>36607790Let's not abuse that mechanic. We got a good roll, so no need for consensus bonuses.
>>36607804Fair enough, though I don't think that's really an exploit.
What should our idea be?
Rolled 68, 21 = 89 (2d100)>>36607651Oh jeeze that 3...Idea time:Hm... Perhaps we can have our sages investigate the nature of these soul evaporations. Especially based on our gorgon lady's firsthand account. I really want to increase our Hero Count. Is there any way we can have ... patronage/apprentices of a sort? Cyclopses or Gorgons trained personally by our heroes?
We've already started rebuilding the monoliths right?
>>36607804I think the consensus bonus should only work if we roll for it too... that way either a good roll is made better. a terrible roll is made less worse... or the opposite.two people roll shit on the same thing. IT gets ultra shit. when i say it out loud it sounds kind of mean.... Disregard that.
Rolled 53 (1d100)>>36607651Use the bamboo charcoal to bake mud/clay and see what happens. Its time for some pottery.
>>36607980That's more of an action.
Rolled 38 (1d100)>>36607980I think we already have that... Not sure. Might be an idea to think of other interesting ideas to make with pottery. Terracotta Cyclops sculptures? Glass? Clay fetishes for our gods?
Don't we have some access to silk clothes?
>Investigate the current Parrat/kobold problem>Roll 17/20>Enemy roll 18/20>Contested success +GorgonsIt's been almost a few centuries before the introduction of the Parrat onto the Home island from their seemingly "original" point of contact on the Northern island and they've continued to be a nuisance for all Cyclopes: chewing through woven goods, stealing food, and cackling and imitating spoken words deep in the jungle. When pressed for information the Northern island communities don't know the origins of the creatures- they've just trapped them, hunted them, and tried to deal with them their own ways they best they could.Everything changes though when the Gorgons are brought into the picture. They've observed our peoples difficulty with the Parrats and had come to the Northern island to demonstrate the proper hunting technique their people had used. The Gorgon hunters bring only a Bag with them and wear a Goggle-like Visor tied to their heads with leather. The visor is nothing like your people have seen before; they say it's a simple mid-section of a turtle shell, smoothed, with a slit carved in the center. The Cyclopes observe their technique: The Gorgons see a Parrat, and their snake writhes, hisses, and rattles- They seem to wait until the Parrot's beak is facing their gaze before they lean forward, exhale, and a very brief small flash of light is seen... before the Parrat mysteriously falls down limp and paralyzed. They then snap their necks before throwing them into the bag.Your people are confused but extremely impressed. What a mysterious technique!
>>36608021>>36608008Essentially practice with kilns and furnaces. Once you get the concept down and make simple clay pots, you can make things like molds and crucibles.
>>36608049That is pretty kick-ass.What use is the turtle shell visor? Is it to prevent them from seeing their own snakes paralyzing gaze?
Rolled 10 (1d20)>>36608008>>36608052If it is more of an action I'll roll an action die to be safe... perhaps.
Should we start using literature to inspire heroes and artisans? That would give our culture a huge boost.Especially if they start writing primitive science fiction.
I think we should train more sages.
>>36608189Need something on which to write first.Unless we discover bamboo paper techniques or have reeds that can be made into papyrus, were stuck with leather, which is a bit limited for true story telling.
Rolled 100, 14 = 114 (2d100)>>36608189>>36608209These sound like things that could be rolled into ideas. You wanna roll for them or should I?We've written/drawn on volcanic tablets in the past. Maybe its time to start going Gilgamesh.
>>36608209Bamboo scrolls are a thing and you don't need to kill precious animals for it.
>>36608240>that wasted 100
>>36608249I am more than aware of that... Yes.
>>36608249He Am Plays Gods.
>>36608249was it wasted it seemed that he was rolling for them.
>Formally introduce and greet the Gorgon Community>Rolled 17/20>Ally Roll 4/20>Overwhelming Success. +Gorgon Slaves accepted. -Gorgon ExclusivenessYour Mainland communities attachment and immersion with the Gorgons they've been receiving mysteriously from the deep recesses of the forest can no longer be ignored either by your own people and you wish to extend further pleasantries and open communication with the Gorgon people. The Gorgons within your community do not wish to go though. Your Heroes find out that the Gorgons you've all received are Slaves: Traded, Sold off, and offered up as Gorgon Chattel and that they have no desire to return to the community or acknowledge it's existence. They enjoy their new lives within the Cyclopes community: Food is plentiful, work is easy, they are free to hunt, fish, they have complete access to as many mates as they desire and can sire as many daughters as they please. They Decline. They never want to go back. They go on Further to elaborate on Gorgon society, Saying it is: Female dominated, Class is strict and ridged, Birth is controlled, Children are raised impersonally and communally, War is common, and cruelty abundant. No. No, they do not wish to go back. "We will never go back under the thumb of that Harrowed, old, sullied Serpentine Bitch we called a queen."
>>36608240So we have fiction... But nothing to write it on... Talking about running before you know how to crawl.
>>36608310Oral history and legends. Bitch.
>>36608305So our gorgons are the exceptions to the rule. Hm...
>>36608305Well then. Maybe the elves aren't so bad.
>>36608354Well.. we've also been painting on cave walls and making sketches on tablets. And we have a language. We just need a writing and we can save these things.
>>36608305Sounds like we're basically going to be enemies of the gorgon nation proper.Slavery we cannot abide. We must prepare for a war for justice.
>>36608305Why are our gorgons so cool?
>>36608385I know we have a language. Hence the post. In fact, I'm pretty sure we also have an alphabet already. I don't see any reason not to just carve a story into a new megalith.
>>36608405Or just continue to act as a safe haven for their outcasts.
>>36608440We should still prepare for war.
>>36608405Sounds like a quite large risk for very little gain.
>>36608440I Agree. No reason to make enemies quite yet. At this rate they're doing a fine job sabotaging themselves. The empire proper seems to be unaware of our good treatment of their exiles. Perhaps in time they'll give us all their iconoclasts, and maybe rumors might spread of how "good" the new captors are, imagine what that would do to the empire's big wigs.Let us be as though a city upon a hill. All will look to us.
We should probably get round to building a few earth forts, once the gorgon society proper learns of us, it is undoubtedly only a matter of time before they try slaving raids.
>>36608483What I think the steps we should take are. 1. Fortify the outpost on mainland so they can't just raid it down at their leisure.2. Construct a navy so we can have secure supply lines and capacity to take down them in the sea before they reach our island.3. Train more sages to counter any magical bullshit.
So, can we roll for actions an ideas?
By the way, do our ships have sails? Because if they don't, we really should get some.
>>36608584>>36608645I think we're still waiting on quest master to write the rest but still... I think So? and if it doesnt count. we can say it again once he opens stuff up.
Rolled 11 (1d20)>>36608668Rolling to build stone fortifications to the Gorgon village outpost thingy.
Do we have any sort of chieftain?
>>36608021>>36607980>Experiment with the use of Bamboo Charcoal and Pottery and the Red Rock?>Roll 53/100>Above Average Success +Cencus Reached +Charcoal +PotteryYour people have never had much interest in Pottery beyond it's practical use of storing or containing things for trade or personal use or simply using them for Clay pot Cooking.. But with the discovery of Bamboo Charcoal your people have noticed that their kilns can burn MUCH hotter and MUCH longer.....But what of the Red Rock they wonder? What else can we possibly throw into the Fires to produce? What if..Your people have a Crazy Idea.. The Soft Volcanic Rock hills in the Mainland and Northern Island are Hollowed out using a mix of Geomancy and Stone Tools to create a large hollowed out dome in the Volcanic Rock to be made into a "kiln". The Kiln possess a "face" with the guts of the kiln hollowed out into the Volcanic rock: A large, round, dome oven with a tab underneath it that can be fed bamboo charcoal and the top of the dome having a large hole entrance and three smaller holes around the sides of the "face"... The Large hole has earth and clay products fed into it to be piled up and fed into the "vat" indent of the dome where the smaller holes on the side have hollowed out Bamboo fed into it so that the fire may be "blown into". The finishing touch on the kiln though is a large round stone "door" that can be rolled open or closed and a large stone platform that can be pulled in and out to retrieve finished bake clay products. The finished kiln is then burried in sand and dirt so as to dissipate the heat and allow your Cyclopes to work/walk around it without burning themselves. You don't know it yet, but your people have just created what amounts to an air-blast, charcoal-fed, stone forge. Though, your people don't know any better and continue to use it for it's minimal potential of pottery.
>>36608739Not really. its all rather democratic republic right now.
>>36608763Alright, sorry, that took longer than expected. Let's try to reorganize and I'll try to do everything quick and concise from now on:STATE 4 ACTIONS AND 2 IDEA/STAT ROLL:ACTIONS ARE D20. IDEAS ARE D100.
>>36608765Do we even have concept of republic or democracy yet?
Rolled 8 (1d20)>>36608814Train more Sages
Rolled 6 (1d20)>>36608814Build fortifications (walls and/or watchtowers) to villages.
>>36608818Not that I recall. It's basically just people hanging out being chill.
>>36608818Nope. But since no one seems to believe themselves to be above anyone else, its a natural base state.
>>36608739Your people don't have any leaders, they don't follow any sort of organized structure or heiarchy and everyone basically does what they feel is a good idea for themselves and the community. The only people with any vague authority are the Sages. >>36608310>>36608354We have a rich persistant heritage and culture of oral traditions and drawing shit on caves or any stone surface we can find.>>36608040The gorgons are capable of producing a Silk-like finely woven threaded cloth that is completely beyond your own people. Your Gorgon immigrants lack the equipment to make it themselves.
Rolled 35 (1d100)>>36608814Sailing, not boats. Proper sails, unless we already have them.
Rolled 18 (1d20)>>36608814Fortify mainland community.Maybe build watch towers on other islands as well.
Rolled 86 (1d100)>>36608883Well, in that case- HIERARCHY/LEADERSHIP
>>36608890Need cloth making first. We aint found sheep to sheer or cotton to weave.Best we could do is make leather sails, which are very limited.
Rolled 60 (1d100)>>36608890Supporting.
Rolled 99 (1d100)>>36608890also supporting
>>36608938Because otherwise any sort of relations with foreign nations are extremely tenuous, since they'll see us as weak and the people will have much clearer direction towards their goals.
>>36608938Probably for faster reaction to outside threats etc.Its a good idea to get leadership roles sorted out and tied down to something sensible before they have too much power to change.
Rolled 15, 1, 17 = 33 (3d20)>>36608763Build fortifications. (especially on the Crazy Mainland)Train and make more heroes (are heroes separate/more important than sages? or of equal import?)Train sage's skill.I can't think of a good 4th thing.
>>36608908We kind of have this weird relationship with sages. In that they seem to know whats they're doing and act as leaders in big projects. Otherwise they don't do shit and our people self govern.
>>36608938We are completely unable to take any sort of military action outside defending ourselves without any leadership.
>>36608763Okay quest master i have a question. What is the nature of heroes? are they like sages except not magic? or are they something else entirely? Like powerful people in general.IE you can be a sage and a hero. What does hero mean? and why do we have so few?
>>36609017Why should we need to? The players act as the will of the people, and we have no immidiate threats. If a threat arises we'll do something about it.Why should we suddenly convert to a war like society?
Hey guys, I have been around tired, frustrated and wanting to draw something simple so I updated the map a bit.Tell me if I missed something not entirely understanding everything on it.
>>36609082Being able to defend yourself is hardly war like.We KNOW we are close to two groups who may act hostile sometime in the future.Burying our head in the sand is not going to help. Neither is waiting for them to come and kill or enslave some of us first.
>>36608908>Heiarchy/Leadership>Roll 86/100>Success +Sages -No Identity>SO IT BEGINS.Individualism has always been a foreign concept to your people as almost everything was and is handled communally, there is very little sexual dimorphism, sex is not entirely understood, and your people have always been mired by very low populations spread across large trechs of land. This has begun to change though; The Sages have slowly begun spreading a much larger influence of authority, guidance, and intelligence that has been separating them from the "normal folk" and although it isn't a problem... Your people have begun to Defer Authority to individuals within your society based on their intelligence, wisdom, and magical prowess. >+MAGOCRACY HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED. YOU ARE NOW LEAD BY A "COUNCIL" OF SAGES>Build Fortifications from the Mainland Jungle>Roll 15/20>Success +Racial bonus, +MagocracyYour Council of Sages have decided that the threat of the unknown warrants enough investment that a Wall or perimeter of stone must be built to separate your mainland community from the Coastal one. Ditches are Dug, Geomancers are brought on, Stoneworkers are paid, and A large, Bumpy, wall of sizable bolders is erected from one side of the forest to the other- connecting the two coasts- The Wall goes up to your people's chests, but to the Gorgons- it is something rather sizable and intimidating "fence". The Stones are too smooth to be gripped or climbed over and the only way through it is to walk ALL the way around it or through the entrance leading directly into the village - The Stone "trading" shrine remains outside the walls, obviously.
>>36609082I'm not trying to convert us into a warlike society. If the foreign powers see we don't have any sort of leader, then they'll think they can just walk all over us and that our word is worth fuck all because it's just a word of some dude with no real power over his people. In short, diplomacy would be very, very hard.
>>36609161>MagocracyDecentralized and ultimately meritocratic leadership. Pretty solid I say.
>>36609306Yeah. I'm happy with that.
>>36609306Hopefully we'll let Gorgons on the Mage Council.
>>36609306The only thing id like to add to the council is skilled craftsmen so we aren't ruled entirely by mages.
>>36609306I agree. My only problem though is the tendancy for our Sages to fuck up royal when it comes to experimenting.Having a leadership made up of people who can be as knowledgable and wise as possible is great up until any time they try to expand that knowledge it results in boiled faces, and dangerous golems being brought to life.
>>36609356Several councils ruling our society might be cool. A council of Stars for our sages, a Council of Sun for our Craftsmen/warriors?
>>36609161>+Event+>The WALLS>+INFLUX OF GORGON REFUGEESWith the finished construction of the massive line of Stones separating the Forest.. it seems your Community has begun to be acknowledge by the ones "within" the Forest... and the Cyclopes and gorgons who frequent the wall for whatever reason have been seeing numerous "Eyes" watching and been hearing whispers in the dark recess of the Forest. The other thing that has been happening: Gorgons. More Gorgons, small crowds of Gorgons: Young, Old, but all a little disheveled and all saying the same thing, "Can't go back, won't go back." They know a bit of your language and not all of them seem to be slaves: Huntresses, Crafts women, Simple Gardeners, Mothers with children, and even a few whom seem to be exiled or fleeing Sages(?)- wearing torn fabric robes, their hair forcibly cut short, clutching hidden jewelry,It seems word is spreading. >>36609388>their hair forcibly cut shortWow. For a gorgon that must hurt.
>>36609388Is saying yes or no a roll action? Cause totally yes. And also >n a few whom seem to be exiled or fleeing Sages(?)- wearing torn fabric robes, their hair forcibly cut short, clutching hidden jewelry,Fuuuck... so they dont have snakes in their hair... that sounds kinda ... .brutal.
>>36609549That's also offensive to our religion, like trying to blot out the many voices of the stars.
>>36609388I say that this is an excellent opportunity. They clearly are impressed by our masonry, this means that if we accept them, our masons will have a LOT of work for them and that means lot of gorgon goods will go to the islands. So yes, I say that they should be allowed to settle nearby.
>>36609388As long as the village pays tribute to the islands, they're free to enjoy the walls.

I sort of want to start recording our stories in a way when archeologists dig our bone up they know the bravery of the Hero of the Mainland and the First Gorgon. Second Idea, maybe have a couple sages of ours interact with these Gorgon sages.
>>36609641well damn.Religious epiphany.
>>36609641>100DAMN! Looks like there is gonna be some cool magic stuff happening between our sages for once... instead of ... painful deaths and accidents.
>>36609641We already have an alplabet, but maybe that roll will improve it?
We should come up with a concept of citizenship so we don't get an influx of immigrants to the islands.
>Cook the Red Rock>Roll 19/20>Complete SuccessThe Red Rocks on commission of the Sage Council are brought up with Ropes, Elephants, and Strong Men to be chiseled into more manageable pieces and thrown into the Kiln as an experiment. The Chunks are Heavy, Red, and Harder than clay.. but they're scooped up and thrown into the kiln with the fire blazing. The potters get a little excited when it refuses to melt, but instead becomes redder and redder, "Hotter, HOTTER. HOTTER!!!!!!!!!" Your Sages and Potters get far too excited and break out in an improvised chorus of Song and Dance to Edge on the Kiln. And indeed, more charcoal is thrown into the Kiln and the Bamboo blowers blow more Air, and even the Fire itself is bolstered by the Chants and dancing- Burning hotter, brighter, more vivid- the breathing and dancing of the flames starting to pick up with the beat of the chant. The Stone finally melts, The fires die down, the inside of the kiln has to be dug out with stone chisels- the impurities coating this unusual, thick, black, hard, substance? The Sages however get more out of this then the Potters and even some of the Potters are inspired: what intensity, what passion, what beauty, WHAT MAJESTY. The Rhythm is undeniable, the song of fire is too enchanting.>+ACCIDENTALLY DISCOVERED PYROMANCY>+?MELTED SHIT IRON?>+15 Sages>66 Sages total
>>36609641Gorgons are best waifu.
Can we please make link related?>>36608247Would make writing so much easier.Would allow us to invent more things, like mathematics.
>>36609669Maybe. I also was rolling to start recording stories in written form. Maybe this will spur us to create our first Epic of Gilgamesh, or the story of our origins immortalized beyond cavepaintings. There was a similar kickass roll over for something like that here >>36608240
>>36609680It's our duty as honorable cyclopes to harbour any who need our help, so long as they will likewise work towards the good of us all
>>36609714Not to mention a courier/mail service.
Rolled 95 (1d100)>>36609388So I got an idea what if we create a second language so we have a spoken language and a language of hymns/songs.
>>36609732But we should still have a list of rights and protections that citzens have which foriegners do not, as well as rituals which bring an immigrant into the community.
>>36609714>>36609750Mind, still need to make an actual ink of some form instead of using mineral paint.
>>36609793Not really needed yet. we dont have a law system or marriage/land ownership.
>>36609797Well, we're an island people on somewhat tropical climate. I reckon we could find some squids if we tried.
>>36609760are you suggesting a spiritual language for use by the sages? Might be interesting, but might also create a barrier between them and the common folk. I remember Latin used to be the laungage of choice for the religious and and monarchy in the day.
Rolled 18 (1d20)>>36609706Tempting fate here, but let's try melting other rock with Pyromancy
>>36609919Simple way to overcome that, when we have schools, have both languages taught, but the song one is primarily used for magic. Its a bit like making specalized chants for the sole use in casting.
>>36609919Yes and no more a second language for our magics so it would be more difficult for other cultures to copy or steal and have our spoken language more as a merchant language.
>>36609468>>36609470>>36609502>>36609557>Gorgons Accepted>No roll Required>+75 Gorgons>+100 Total GorgonsThe Gorgons are utterly relieved to be accepted into the community and an audible sense of relief can be sensed upon them all as the tension slowly shifts to the excitement of a new chances, opportunities, and heartfelt reunions- it seems some of the Ex-slaves in our community know some of the new additions. With the gorgons out numbering the local Cyclopes community (Mainland community possess 100 Gorgons, but only maybe 40'ish Cyclopes) the importance of their culture is cemented and made brought forward to them: community, freedom, spirituality, the casual island life of liberty and the greater family unit. This is done by having them all invited to a truly grand village wide feast of Elephant, Fruits, Fermented Alcohol and a fine array of delicious Seafood. The dinner is also accompanied with Song, Dance, Music, and dazzling displays of truly powerful Hymns sung and performed by the local sages. This Dinner spans only a few nights, but the impression lasts months: Gorgon Wives are Taken, Goods, Materials, and Ideas are exchanged. A Cross-culture Ethnicity of "Native" gorgons has begun to be established: Dressing quite skantily, with sun-kissed tanned skin, and extremely easy going attitudes compared to their migrant mothers. >+20 "Native" Born Gorgons>+20 Cyclopes born>Total population: 405(+120 Gorgons)
>>36610012We have a small problem. At the rate this is going, all the male cyclopes will slowly marry the far more attractive Gorgons, and thusly cause the end of the species,
>>36610012We might want to start moving some Gorgons around to our island villages, so they all aren't stuck to the mainland village.
>>36610107I think it should be established that Gorgons keep the mainland city as their own where as the islands belong to the Cyclops.
>>36610161I disagree the gorgons should spread to the islands as a sign of acceptance and that way it doesn't breed mistrust through segregation.
>>36610161I'm fine with them going where they like.
>>36610161I think maybe advancing martial tradition to make cyclopes marry each other, or maybe get the sages to make it so cyclops/gorgon relationships can create cyclopes
It's too bad we can't interbreed with gorgons. Maybe we could talk to the Great Serpant about that.
>>36610201>>36610199Well, then you're going to see the cyclops population die off unless you establish some sort of caste system or something.
What are the requirements for a gorgon to lay eggs? Does she need a husband?
>>36610107Cyclopes are still the majority. So most males will settle for a cyclope wife. I don't see any problems. Also I think the hybrids will be cute.>>36610161Shit idea. >>36610213Are we particularly monogymous? IE I see no problem with marrying gorgons... or having spouses as long as clyclopses still get together? do we deal with polyamorous relationships much?

Your council of Sages respond to this by coming together, bringing forth many stone and clay tablets and pounding out a new score of notes that will document the Hymns, Songs, Chants, and Duets your Council must sing to enlighten the mind, bring reason to dreams, and hear the voice echoed across by the Sun, Stars, the moon, and the elements themselves. These Stone and Clay Tablets are then Archived and kept in logs that are stored within the Old Caves and the Megaliths- too keep on the ready for ritual use.+SPELL (Stone)BOOKS INVENTED>Accept Gorgons into the Sages Council>Roll 100/100>Complete and Total Success -Gorgon Reclusive'nessSome of the Gorgons seem to already possess some sort of Knowledge of Hymns.. but their song is.. Their songs do not mesh well, they do not sing true and although the Elements of Water, Earth, and even the plants it seem respond to them.. it is.. just too soft spoken- almost a whisper and an indecipherable one at that. They simply do not echo with the same dazzling force and power of Cycloptic Hymn. The Children though. The "new" Children that have become immersed in Cyclops culture. The Volcano lies Dormant, but by the surrounding peak they can feel the heat radiating deep from the earth while practicing their chants, songs, and dances to try and discover what will best entice and appease the flames. Their Hymns echoe across the Volcanic Hills and eventually a certain Rhythm is achieved: Strikes of bursting light and flames start to be produced, but fire remains elusive, mysterious, easy to replicate, but difficult to control.>>36610363>Work with the Melted black Iron Slag>Roll 15/20>Above Average Success +The Wonders of IronYour Craftsmen, Potters, and Sages are all eager to continue their work with the Red stone and the mysterious seemingly thick, useless, lumps of Black heavy stone they produce when melted. The potters clear and clean out the kiln- making a few modifications; fitting a Stone handles that will allow the melted stone to be tipped and poured into from the kiln and out into a Stone Molded bowl beneath it. The Sages though try to Geomance the "new" Black stone. It's interesting. Songs sung to the Black, Nasty, Hard Lump vibrate and resonate off of it which finer pitch and increase tones not capable of Speech alone.. The Sages hypothesis that if the Lump could be somehow purified it could be used for breath taking and truly remarkable Hymns... But, alas- The impurities are currently what prevent it being worked with Geomancy.

>>36610379>Bamboo Paper>Roll 53/100>Average success +GorgonsYour Gorgon population has a number of advancements that remain beyond your people, but have otherwise noticed them bringing with them to start their new lives: Paper, Fabric, and Traps/Snares... Fabric have always itriqued your people, but paper as your Sages Council has come to seen could prove to be incredibly practical.Gorgons are brought forth to the Council. Their tiny paper scrolls laid out for the Council to be inspected and seen: Some sort of.. length of material with pictures on it? How? How is this made? The Gorgons do not entirely know, "USELESS! BEGONE!" before they are provided complimentary food, drink, and ejected from the council.Your Sages though do not give up, and Sages from the Norther Isle bring forth: Bamboo. Bamboo may be cut into finer sectioned, treated with fats, and then dried to form looong flat tiled boards.. perhaps? Perhaps we could use that? The Council further suggests that that Mineral dyes could be mixed together to be painted on their application of Bamboo "papers"? >+BAMBOO SCROLLS INVENTED.>+SPELL BOOK (BAMBOO) INVENTED.
>>36610888So the message on the paper scroll had something the gorgons didn't like.
>>36610888>>36610913Oh, sorry, sorry- >The Gorgons do not entirely know, "USELESS! BEGONE!" The council exclaims, before they are provided complimentary food, drink, and ejected from the council. The Council basically feeds them dinner than shooes them away.
>>36610450>Melt more of the Red Stone>Roll 1/20>Complete and total failure. While assisting with the processing and feeding of more Red Stone into the Gigantic blast kiln- One of your potters slips and falls into the forge. He is burned alive and his gasping screams as the fire consumes him and suphocates him are so horrible that everyone on the job sight begins to panic: The sages don't know how to stop the fire, no one knows how to pull anything out of the kiln without being burned, and the Cyclopes body is quickly burned up while on his feet- He does not die though. His Horrible screams are so cringing, so disturbing, that the fire itself hears them and wrap around around the Cyclopes so as to comfort and ease in his Death, but he does not die. He Becomes further panicked, more fear, more anguish and more confusion is created. The Fire now at this point becomes despaired, worried, and saddened- all it knows is to keep holding and bringing it's warmth and hoping for the best. That everything will be okay and that this will be fixed quickly.A great torrent of flame shoots out of the top of the kiln and the Soul of the worker leaps forth in the form of a Fire elemental- a living torch of Flame, Emotion, singing a song of blistering, seething, agony before the difference in temperature causes him to recoil and collapse into a pile of unrecognizable carbon and ash. >The Sages are horrified and disgusted by their powers and themselves.>-15 Sages>Total Sages 61
>>36611093so whenever we fuck up particularly horribly we make elementals? Its weird because the fire seems to feel BAD for what is happening, and yet the creature seems... Hm...

>>36610467>Study of natural life to learn about biology.>Roll 67/100>Above Average SuccessYour people have always possessed some basic understanding of natural life: plants, animals, the denizens of the shore and the reef.. they'd have to otherwise they wouldn't be capable of feeding and clothing themselves, but one mystery that has always eluded them: Where do babies come from? This Question is truly one of the greatest Mystery your people have ever wonder. It has taken time, determination, and research: Elephants seem to only make babies when Male Elephants visit them.. Tree's only produce fruit after they've had Flowers.. But Eggs are laid without any interaction? Mysterious. Mysteries abound. Your people have become persistent though and it takes a few years but you come to the following conclusions: Women and Women cannot make Babies. Men and Men cannot make Babies. No one by themselves can make a Baby. Women+Men can make babies somehow?>Vague awareness of reproduction>+Steady Population Growth and "manual" control of population growth now available.Your people will continue to have sex for pleasure because there's no reason they shouldn't, but they can now specifically have sex to make children.. this will have humongous cultural implications if you choose to actually start using it/enforcing it. Currently it's just handled as, "Oh, I see- well that's quite interesting!"

>>36611700Ideas are d100.
I'm telling you people, metalworking is a shit idea. We're gonna end up with all sorts of lame concepts like wealth and war. What's wrong with stone anyway? We got MAGIC for fuck's sake.
>>36611712...Should it be an action then, because I don't want to waste that roll.
>>36611712But making iron tools is d20
>>36611457>Use Pyromancy to Temper and Beguile the Spirit of fire to smelt and process the Ore>Rolled 18/20>Complete SuccessAlthough your workers are discouraged and some of your sages have cast off their hymns and handed in their notes- A handful of Sages, Craftsmen, and eager volunteers wish to continue the project and the whole process immediately begins anew- with the failures and the death acting as motivation. The Kiln workers, Bamboo blowers, and Stone workers all begin the process of firing up the kiln, stoking the flames, and feeding in the material. The Sages being singing a sweet, enticing, and beckoning song to the flame- one of passion and romance. The Flames respond in kind; enamored by the charcoal and by the sweet melodies and chorus provided for them. They burn hot, true, and lovely- hugging, shaping, and twisting before finally a red hot molten liquid is poured out into the stone mold. The kiln is then slowly turned down, everyone eases out the fire peacefully.. before everyone rushes over to the end product.A Black, Toasty, Bumpy, piece of stone? Rock? That is until the Sages beckon it with an experimental quip- just a small poem, not even a song. The Beauty it echoes back: what tone, what resonation, what temperance, and structure- It's beautiful. One of your Sages Cries. The Others are so excited they burst into song and the Black lump pulses and echoes back such a beautiful in tone duet that it visibly rattles and shakes. >+IRON DISCOVERED.
>>36611700>>36611712Well we've made weird little ingots so far... so i guess tying those hard metal ingots to sticks might not be out of our remit. Creating entire tools out of iron is though.
>>36611735Industry and a lot of major construction needs iron, tools especially, and surely we must craft a body for the spirit of fire so that it may be happy?
>>36611735We don't have the best track record with magic right now. And metalsmithing will not only increase production of our civilization, it's a means of defense when the others decide to fuck with us.Magic is good, but steel is more reliable.

They seem to sing a song that is more spontaneous, accessible, inclusive and easily related and understood by even the common Man. This is part of the reason why Elemental expressions and Hymns always seem so fluid and spontaneous.. Communal with them is casual, easy, relatively simple and doesn't seem to be dangerous: They speak when spoken to and are always listening... Though, past history has told your people that with such a great amount of trust and open'ness brings forth horribly repercussions if taken advantage of. The Sun, Moon, and the Stars are beyond petty revenge or grudges, but it doesn't seem that way with the elements.
Ah TOLJU niggas dem fire spirits are not to be trusted.Trust in the Great Snake.
>>36612510So the elements are individual, and local. There isn't a completely unanimous FIRE god to pray or sing at. but a localized fire spirit. Some are loving... like the furnace. and maybe others are angry... like the volcano.
>>36612177>>36612197>Commune with Plants>Roll 95/100>High Quarter Success -Gorgon Culture ShockYour people have never actually thought of singing to something ALIVE, but Plants seem to represent an interesting in between and Gorgons HAVE been observed communing with their own indigenous foliage- perhaps this effect can be replicated. The few Gorgon practitioners of their own foreign Hymns are brought onto the Northern island to try and demonstrate if they could perhaps sing a song that the Trees and Grasses of the Cyclopes could understand. The Gorgons are intimidated by the strange and alien vegetation. They do not like it and it disturbs them: disgusting, long, veiny leaves. This unpleasant HAIRY "grass" that covers everything. Some of them attempt a Hymn, but it comes out weak, pathetic, and stuttering- They quickly hide behind the Legs of their Cyclopes companions and ask to be taken back home. Some of them Cry.HOWEVER. One of your Cyclopes takes offense. To the Plants. -He is not a smart Cyclopes- How dare they scare his precious Wife? Whom do these Trees and Grasses think they are? That they can bring his adorable little woman to tears? HE WILL HAVE NONE OF THIS AND THE PLANTS WILL KNOW OF IT.This one Cyclopes is not a sage, but through the love of his Gorgon wife hugging onto his leg- her face burried into the back of his thigh, hiding just underneath his tunic- he sings a loud, boisterous, and commanding song of protest to the disgusting trees, their nasty leaves, the vile and hairy grass, and all of those revolting INDECENT flowers. The Grass waves. The Trees Bow. The Flowers close. They Drop their Fruit in Apology. The Cyclopes Forgives them. Your Sages pretend to understand what happened despite finding the Man's Hymn to be woefully bad to an almost comedic level.Perhaps it was love?

They take forth with them a Handful of Gorgon Huntressess and a dozen or so Cyclopes to bolster their own forces.. and step beyond the safety of the stone "fence".The forest is dark, pure darkness- but your Sages maintain a constant and fresh rhythm to support small flames held within their hands to light the way... The Forest is even more horrifying when "well-lit": Dozens of insects, faintly glowing fur-covered "saplings", and numerous coiled up or veiny fleshy soft growths everywhere.. The "pollen" can be visibly seen raining down and blanketing everything and the wildlife that is seen comes in the form of obscenely vivid and gaudily coloured birds darting through the canopy. Your party finally comes upon a large indent in the forest forming into a fresh water lake. The Gorgon Huntresses advice they go no further and instead camp here to help investigate, climatize, and teach the Sages and the Men of the Jungle. They stay their for weeks while the Gorgons tutor them seeing many wonders and dangers:Humongous, pale, scale-less lizards with the bodies of Elephants, but possessing loooooong necks that stretch near the tops of the canopy with long sweeping tails for balance. They feast readily on all vegetaion and their bodys are so wide and humongous they trample flat the forest floor- Trees bending in their wake. Even bigger than Cyclopes!Parrats and other numerous other small and scampering lizards with both feathers and scales constantly rushing back and forth under the ground foliage and trunks of the great wide topped trees. >>36613797Heroes are produced through extraordinary actions and commitment- they're exceptional individuals who can be used to lead or solve exceptional problems extremely quickly with questionable results. They're for more specific or urgent problems that you don't want to fuck around with or need an immediate response to since a Hero does not need have to answer to anyone. A Hero essentially just does whatever they're told to until they either die or are told not to.A lot of these mechanics remain purposefully vague simply due to what level our civilization is currently at.
>>36613995Okay so their origins DO function differently at least i can glean that much... thanks OP. This will wind up with less "train/inspire more heroes" actions and ideas from me in the future.
>>36613544Do you have a twitter like this >>36613401 anon said?I mean otherwise you fairly consistantly do stuff on the weekends. So i don't mind. But still some might like to be notified by internet buisness.
>>36613995I'll just ask this now but... how will death work? And by death I mean old age/disease and stuff. Do people only die from being murdered by animals/circumstance/magic for the sake of easyness? I'm just wondering.
>>36614502>I'll just ask this now but... how will death work?Death has already been working. The population increases and decreases "naturally" through disease, old age, etc.. but the population number doesn't change because growth is constant. I.E: The population number represents how many people there are "consistently".Unless a catastrophy such as a Famine, Natural disaster, or War happens we won't see any changes in population simply because accounting for each death would take too much time and effort.Thousands of years and hundreds of generations have past since we've lived in caves and generations of people have died.
Any one got any ideas as to what to draw? I can take some requests and get some done by next week.
>>36614705Okay wow that is... Mind blowing. I had no idea.
>>36614764Some quick experimenting
>>36614729if it isn't too much trouble I'd like to see a Group shot of all our people just sort of chilling out side by side one another so we can show off the Sages, the different trades people, the livestock, and the Gorgons, etc.. so We can establish a sense of scale and culture. http://www.tallerheels.com/compare-height-tall.html This really helps wrapping my head around scale if you need it: Cyclopes are generally 12-15ft tall with Elephants around their Waist line and Gorgons normal height.
can we assume the large stones used for our wall are all carved with large eyes staring back at anyone who tries to fuck with us?
>>36615133Sounds really awesome. I might give it a shot after finals start winding down. Would also be nice to do some non cave painting style stuff and more of my regular style.
>>36615341If you wanted to go the Extra mile you could start doing things in the "style of the ages" seeing as how we've advanced through about three: Cavemen, Stone age, and have just begun our "metal age". I'm honestly super pumped for us to advance through even more. But for my request: I would really love and appreciate just a normal group pic of everybody hanging out beside one another so we can gawk and admire all the cool people, different jobies, our cool farm animals the sages, etc..
>>36615442>>36615133Because my secret motivation for this quest was to spread awareness and solidify the image of Cyclopes as cutie, easy-going, androgynous, vaguely Polynesian island dwelling boys and girls instead of just another "generic dumb and brutish giant race".
>>36615642And I do dig that direction Questlord. I hope i can eventually fufill this. otherwise here is a taste of sketches.
Here's an idea- while the cyclopean culture understands math, and has an alphabet, do they have a numeral system? The introduction of numbers is the first real step towards hundreds of other important ideas and concepts- economics and the sciences mostly We should ask the gorgons more about their culture, and attempt to integrate anything useful
>>36620461If we can have cyclopean letters, they can give us gorgon numerals. Could be neat. Would also be neat to see how many fingers we have. See where our "tens" fall.
>>36615642I support you.
