Welcome to the XXXX installment of "Disney Villains Victorious."Disney Villains Victorious is a new /tg/ homebrew project based on the idea of a world, not entirely unlike our own, in which all the villains from all the Disney animated feature films were not defeated at the ends of their movies but were instead victorious, completing their goals in part or in whole. It is a world in which Ursula rules the seas, defied only by the uncatchable Pirate Lords, the cutthroat merchants of the East India Trading Company and the might of Atlantis and its magitech-toting mercenaries. It is a world where the grasslands and jungles and forests are prowled not only by fearsome primal beasts like Shere Kahn and Scar but also by the ruthless, tireless hunters that stalk them. It is a world where Europe has been divvied up between evil sorcerous monarchs like Maleficent, the Horned King, Grimhilde and Jafar, mad, inquisitorial clergymen like Frollo, and Dark Gods like Hades and Chernobog. It is not, however, a world completely devoid of courage, heroism or hope. Around the world, the PCs' characters and their allies plot and plan, fight and strive and win their own victories against the villains that would rule them. The time to fight and to be free is now.http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?searchall=Disney+Villains+Victorioushttp://1d4chan.org/wiki/Disney_Villains_Victorious

>>36346728And you're STILL forgetting the IRC link. Is this going to become a thing from now on? Mibbit, network is AsyloIRC, room is #DVVmagic.
>>36346756I'm sorry about that! I honestly am. I don't have much experience with starting threads so I just copied and pasted what was there. Thank you for correcting my mistake!
>>36346764Don't worry, nobody comes in anyway. Guess the other wizards WERE just trolls after all.
>>36346770Things are getting more polished this side, so maybe more folks will start popping in once things get settled. We've appreciated you maintaining the IRC room and doing your par to keep things civil here, at the very least.
>>36346781Thanks, I do try. I'm getting on fine with the magic on my own, for now. Progress is slow, but steady. And some people check in and contribute on occasion.
Bumping the thread as I write Mulan fluff.
>>36346718Isn't 'XL' the Roman Numeral for 40?
>>36347379You're totally right and I'm a moron.
>>36347440>>36347379"XXXX" fills out the title line better, Roman Numeral correctness be damned! It's awesome, in a 90's XXXTREME sorta way.
>>36346718Huh. I'm pretty sure I played a video game that was based on Jaffar winning. It involved Princess Jasmine a lot as well.
>>36347379they didn't actually give a shit, as long as the math added up.you'll find plenty of IIII instead of IV, for example.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aTqHbiE0vl8at 0:37 it show the friends manifesting from faces on the new Orleans crypts, could we utilize this to show that you cannot escape your debts, if you do then the friends will manifest out of any objects that resemble faces.
>>36348091Right now I'm writing a bit of fluff for Mulan the Undying while I wait for others to show up in the thread, but it's slow going at the moment as I am having a hard time setting the idea I have in my head down in type. Have you tried your hand at fluff writing, Master of Haddock? Maybe you could come up with some short original content to share with us while we wait.
>>36347606Hermione Trainer when, Akabur?
Would making a bird character tiny be overpowered? There are some birds that are really bloody small, so it would make sense
>>36348538I believe that birds are definitely okay as far as the rules are concerned, but may not have been fully crunched out yet.
So, do we have specialised animal weapons?
Any word on Monsters Inc land? I see them referenced, with Boo explicitly mentioned, but I can't find anything about the Monsters world itself. I'm writing some stuff right now, just want to make sure it fits.
>>36348620I remember that some specific examples had been mentioned in the last thread or the thread before that, but can't recall that a consensus was reached on the matter. Personally speaking, I would like certain beasts to be able to wield weapons if only so that we could have something like the attached picture happening, but maybe I'm just being silly.
>>36348642I'm fairly certain it's not a major part of the setting. Boo's just there as a reference.
>>36348671I remember Nanosaur
Okay, so just for fun, I was going to stat Chernobog but then I realized there was no way to make him as absolutely invincible as I wantedSo instead I came up with his Strike systemStrikes: X + 6, where X is the total number of strikes this unit has received in battle
>>36348726That does make him invincible, but still,>statting the God of Pure EvilIt's like you want to repeat the mistakes D&D made.
I have a question about the skills in this. If you put 1 rank in a skill at first level (making it 3) and then added a +4 bonus to it, would it add up to 6 or 7?
>>36348756He's the End Boss of the Universe, man. Defeating him should be a possible goal for REALLY high-level players, even if you need to do something amazing beforehand to weaken him and make it possible.
>>36348756Well, the only two things that I can come up with for him are that strike system, and a trait that fucks him over if the bells of a church ring
>>36348762I presume you mean because the skill cap is 6, right? Otherwise you can't count and are therefore a retard.
>>36348762Should be +7, don't see why it would be +6.
>>36348672Well I'll go ahead and post my stuff, with the understanding they could be expansion material. The idea I'm going with is the Monsters are an extremely energy rich and isolationist group. The constant fear in the human world provides them with as much energy they could ever need, but they can no longer hide. Hades, Oogie Boogie, Facilier, and even He Who Rules Bald Mountain wish to control the monsters and their fear tech. The monsters are constantly on guard against incursions into their lands. But the rewards promised by the villains are appealing and so more and more monsters leave everyday for the human world. It is only a matter of time until the monsters are too weak to fight back.
>>36346718Question: we talk about making a expansion concerning the future, but how will that work if the end goal is to destroy Chernobog
>>36348795When a big evil falls, a power vaccuum is created. New evils can arise.
>>36348795You can't kill him, only put him to sleep, or shatter his form. Seeds of his evil will still remain in the hearts and souls of men, and in the future, those seeds will grow, and bear fruit.
Mike Wazowski>dead> permanently blinded during the invasion of Monsterworld, he now begs for spare change>lives with Sully and the Yeti in the Himalayas>in Halloweentown>in the shadowlands >wandering around bald mountain
>>36348808But who can take Chernobogs place?
>>36348808Enter the Emperor.
James P. Sullivan>dead, killed by Hunter's Club>hiding in France where he is often mistaken for the Beast or Clarrisse>in the shadowlands>in halloweentown>lives in the Himalayas with mike and the yeti>leads a band of rebel monsters, constantly looking for his friend mike>teamed up with Jack Skellington
>>36348833We should discuss this in an IRC channel, so we don't derail the thread.
>>36348833>>36348837Palpatine, yes.>>36348851Derail from what? We are talking about the future of the setting, not steampunk goblins.
>>36348762If it's one or more free ranks than it must respect the skill cap, if it's a bonus it can go higher.
Randall Boggs>dead, killed by Hunters>a member of ROR, the fraternity now turned elite military force>serves Bald Mountain>serves the Shadowlands>serves Oogie Boogie>convinced that Sullivan is responsible for the invasion of monster land, hunts him obsessively
>>36348860I don't know, but if talking about magic causes arguments, this probably will as well.
>>36348825Why is he wearing underpants, considering that he was naked before hand? Wouldn't the sign of clothing show him as better off?
>>36348870> if talking about magic causes arguments, this probably will as wellChrist, I really hope not: no one can be so eager to attract more trolls.
>>36348870Its a valid question, especially as we near finishing the basic game.>>36348860I really dislike the idea of putting marvel or starwars in. Those would fuck over any kind of setting we would make
>>36348906>>36348920To be sure you still shouldn't talk about it here. People are really sensitive about breaking canon and not following the program.
Henry J. Waternoose III>dead, killed by the hunters or any one of the invading forces>on the Council of Monsters>has no faith in the future of the monsters, drinks obsessively>not often seen, as he works feverishly to invent a machine capable of giving the monsters an edge against their new enemies>advocate for destroying all doors to the human world
>>36348927Okay, never mind, it wasn't important anyway.
>>36348927But were not. Were trying to make sure this future expansion will fit within the Canon
>>36348960You can talk about that in a IRC channel.
>>36348960So was I, and I still caused problems when I tried to have discussions in the thread. Just do it in an IRC channel, it's not a big deal. That's how we make expansions.
>>36348872I don't know, it's what the artist wanted to do I suppose. Here's a different pic of Mike if you want it.
Wouldn't the victories of most of the villains be rendered moot as Syndrome distributed his super-science to the rest of the world and turned the game into Eclipse Phase?
>>36349041Syndrome's being saved for expansions.
>>36349041We are not using any movie set after 1920, of course. If you want to talk about them, take it to an IRC channel.
>>36349041Syndrome dies when he makes AI capable of resisting him
>>36349064Then what about Monsters Inc? The people in that seemed to be in modern times.
>>36349080True enough, we might want to push it back to the expansion entirely.
>>36349080Monster Inc is also not canon.
>>36349064>>36349003Why should we bring this to a IRC when we can easily talk about in thread? I mean, were not exactly in a fast paced fluff or crunch session
>>36349099Because that's what you do when you're making an expansion.
>>36349078So Otto from Wall-E was built by Syndrome? Also, are we limiting ourselves strictly to animated Disney villains, or is Davy Jones from Pirates allowed?
>>36349099Don't try to stir shit again, we're done with that. Expansions are for the IRC channels.
I apologize, I did not intend to start an argument. I will stop posting Monsters Inc stuff.
>>36349109Davy Jones is already in.
>>36349109We've got all the Pirate of the Carribean stuff already, but most of the live-action stuff is to be avoided. The fact that you're asking this tells me we REALLY need to start putting up better summaries on 1d4chan.
>>36349064Just decided to come back to /tg/ after a long absence. Before I decide to go read the fluff for all this, please tell me that 'rescuers' are at least on some level cannon. I'm obsessed withthe 1/100th scale that all these movies about rats and mice have.
>>36349223You're in luck, the Rescue Aid Society is the best resistance against Ratigan, who is the tyrant of all mice worldwide.McLeach is also in charge of the Elite Global Huntsmen's Club.
>>36349223Yep, as enemies of Ratigan's under-empire.
>>36349223Yes, they have formed the Rescue and Truth Society to fight Ratigan
>>36349116So do me a favor and make one or I'll keep talking about it here
>>36349257"These eggs are not Joanna Eggs". Comedy ensues when he starts poaching eggs from the Subjugate of Kaa.Incidentally, are you focusing primarily on Jungle Book characters based on Jungle Book adaptation, or are you using any aspects of Talespin for them?
>>36349275Talespin? Nope, though it might help with expanded characterization.
>>36349270Why should we make them for you? I made my own, so can you, retard.

>>36349394---Ideals--- It doesn’t matter if it’s true, if it makes you sound better, it’s good enough for me.Sometimes bravery is more important than common sense. If it’s not god, I can kill it, and even then, I probably could kill it if I tried---Goals---Zero: Kill a few massive monsters and prove to the world that you are strong!On-a-Roll: Have your exploits known of throughout the worldHero: Get the glory of killing Mor’du yourself, and make sure everyone knows it.Physical Description: A large, middle-aged Atlantic puffin with a slightly muted orange beak with a small crack in it, rough feathers with some of them being grey, a scar down his left eye making him partially blind, and a large, muscular body. Speaks with a thick Scottish accent.Rundown: He was raised in the outer Hebrides by a society who thought their isolation meant they were safe from Mor’du. Upon hearing tales about him, Fingall vowed to show the world that he could take him down. He trained in single combat against other animals and as soon as he had some vague knowledge of combat, he flew to the mainland to track down Mor’du. He claims to have found him immediately, and survived combat with him with the only injury being his eye injury, but in reality, it was just a regular bear, and the injury to the eye was caused by an accident during flight. He lost the battle, and ran for it as soon as he could, and to hide his shame over it, he lies about what happened to everyone, claiming it was the great bear himself.
>>36349257>>36349260>>36349268Very well, you have my aid.It is an honor to contribute to the living memory of my great-grandfather's work of Fantasia.
>>36349411Holy fucking shit.
>>36349411Holy shit, is that The Hobbit's comic book?
>>36349411>>36349464Fuck yeah it is! I always loved that book! Storytime it please.
>>36349411That can't be just fucking with isholy shit son
>>36349411Hot damn, that's pretty awesome.
>>36349464My love of fantasy is what brought me to 4chan in the first place. My love of fantasy came from my Grandpa Jack's movies. I honestly have more faith in 4chan to preserve his memory than Disney, who barely mentions all the hard work he did and raises Walt to be some messiah instead of a shrewd businessman with a fucked-up childhood.>>36349464David Wenzel is the shit, bro.
It just got real. That said in trying to think what rumor mills need to be made or added on to. Any ideas?
>>36349394There seems to be one or two points in excess in Attributes and skills. Remember that as a bird you start with Robustness 4 Agility 10 and Charm 8 instead of the usual 6, strong guy give you one free rank in Athletics and Prevent Harm and 4 Strikes instead of 3 and you have 10 points to spend in attributes and skills. Also you're not limited to generic traits and powers, you can invent your own (though they are subject to GM approval).
>>36349493I would if this were not my current tech setup. Being an amateur actor isn't exactly glorious.
>>36349564>I honestly have more faith in 4chan to preserve his memory than Disney, who barely mentions all the hard work he did and raises Walt to be some messiahShould we keep Walt as God? I feel we should change it, in the honour of this guy.
>>36349564>I honestly have more faith in 4chan to preserve his memoryThen you're not a very clever man: I doubt anyone here has ever even heard of Wilfred jackson before now.>>36349605You tell me:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walt_Disneyhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilfred_Jackson
>>36349605>Walt as GodSomeone better fucking explain this shit right the fuck now.
>>36349564>David Wenzel is the shit, bro.Hell yes he is!>>36349604Fuck, I have that exact same laptop! It is quite the piece of junk, yes.
>>36349631Well cause he's uh, considered to be the father of Disney and shit, so...
>>36349626Whoops. Alright, everybody go look up the nine old men really fast.He was their boss.
>>36349631>Disney movies>Walt DisneyDo you need a diagram?
>>36349626>http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilfred_JacksonWell, he apparently made Night on Bald Mountain. Father of Chernabog? One of Walt's Archangels?
About the Villains, should we playtest one of them to see if they're strong enough?Because we should probably playtest the Villains to see if their okay right now, and not underpowered.
K/L/Rs we still fucking need done:Queen La of the Kingdom of the LeopardGovernor Radcliffe of the Royal Colony of VirginiaAll the Huntsmen of the Elite Global Huntsmen ClubDavy Jones and the Pirate Lords: The Atlantean Pirate, The Arabian Pirate, The Catholic PirateCutler Beckett of the East India Trade CompanyUrsula of the SeaThe Aurora of the Spirit RealmKing Louis of Kingdom of the Red FlowerBagheera of the Free CreaturesShere Khan of the Shere KhanateMor'du of the Land of the Bear Also we need:>A fucking pastebin of heroic traits and powers>Statted up Villains and Inner CircleAnd that's IT. These things are ALL that's keeping us from Beta. These small things.
>>36349691>>36349674>>36349659>>36349626http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disney%27s_Nine_Old_MenLet's go ahead and remember who really made disney movies.
>>36349631Honestly it was an idea we handwaved because we weren't thinking about Walt the businessmen so much as Walt the figurehead.
>>36349771The Nine are now the gods of our setting. Fund it.
>>36345131Elsa's ice powers are some of the most massively powerful things in the Disney universe. She permanently freezes people, not just for a minute or so, and we never see her reach the limit of the powers. The statted-up Elsa is maybe Villain level, not King. Remember, she created a massive palace over a couple of minutes just because she felt like it without any visible effort. She CREATED LIFE out of snow because she wanted to build a snowman. Your Elsa is something a decently poerful party could take down at a medium-to-high On A Roll level. Kings, especially one of the strongest Sorcerer-Kings, should be stronger than that. I'd suggest very powerful ranged ice attacks that have to be dodged, an icy shield that takes hits and doesn't stop her from casting, and the ability to create Lackeys or Inner Circle from the snow around her using Will points.
>>36349771They're gods mengYour grand-pappy is gonna be an ArchangelWalt Disney is head honcho god, no buts about it, since Walt Disney is a pretty big figure-head for Disney.
>>36349814>>36349828So, are we working on a cosmology now? I take it people don't actually worship the Nine, since they don't know who they are.
>>36349665Wildred and the Nine Old Men. I like the sound of that.
>>36349785In that case I suppose you could set up an Ennead of directors with Jack as a hidden hand and Walt as the figurehead. I apologize for my initial acidic reaction.
>>36349844I think that was in early on, that they're gods and shit
>>36349856With a host of heavenly animators.
Question: Can we work in the Haunted mansions, some how? perhaps have some kind of conflict between phantom manor and the mansion?
>>36349827If you re-stat it and people agree it's better I'll replace the one on the Stablocks page.
>>36349844I hope that music is a large part of the cosmology, since that is what the silly symphonies and fantasia were all about. Music makes the magic happen in Disney. I would think people would actually "worship" the background music in the same way ancients worshiped the forces of nature. I agree that they wouldn't know about them, barring 4th-wall breaking genie antics.
>>36349910We made music, accidentally or not, can't remember, seriously powerful.
>>36349900They're rides at Disneyland. We put things in if they're in the MOVIES. >>36349910We could just say music was how the world was made, and song is one of the few things that can effect an angel or divine being. For example, it was suggested earlier that Chernabog could be defeated by a song sang by the entire earth that can be summed up as "Fuck off, Chernabog, nobody likes you!"
>>36349932Chernabog almost literally means "dark stranger." The way to defeat him would be through understanding him; he cannot stand the light. It's like you didn't watch the short at all.I hope you didn't stat him. If you do, I suggest that most volcanoes actually be mountain gods.
>Holy shit, the grandson of one of the Nine Old Men is posting in this thread!>THE CHOSEN ONE HAS COMETH!Is there anything you can tell us about alternate versions of plots or scenes that were rejected or edited out? Reasons why certain things were done the way they were that we might not know about?
>>36350063When I statted him for D&D to satiate my autism, he had 16 divine ranks, 260 hitdice, 20280 hitpoints, an AC of 224, a BAB of +260 and all his saves where +198. You need not worry.
>>36350063Well, how do we understand him? What's he like? One idea I've heard said is that he's a fallen servant of Walt/the Nine, once I even heard somebody say he was Mickey himself. A common idea seems to be that he somehow had control over the powers of friendship and love, but then sealed them away from humanity for some reason and in doing so broke the universe.
>>36350342Simply put, Lucifer was God's favorite angel before he fell, Walt said that Chernabog was the devil himself, and 1 plus 2 equals 3.
>>36350131I guess that there's not a lot of alternate plots and such floating around in the family because Walt essentially picked one or two guys to adapt the script he wanted from an already existing story, and then immediately started working on the music and character design.I do remember that Bela Lugosi was supposed to do the 'motion capture' but the animator wasn't happy with it. Jack told him to just do it himself because the project was too big to be delayed. Salvador Dali was even working on it. That's the kind of thing I would know- you'd have to find a writer like Rapf to get actual information about plots and such.
>>36350412So yeah, him being a fallen servant of the Nine works.
>>36350413So when Walt was around, there wasn't many alternate versions of anything floating about? Perhaps that's why things didn't get REALLY creative until the Disney Renaissance.
>>36350342>>36350412>>36350460Possible backstory for Chernabog:>After the Nine created the universe, they agreed that power should be given to one of their followers, as opposed to kept only to themselves. So they chose Mickey, the favoured son of another of their favourite followers, Walt, who they thought already had enough power. >However, Mickey lacked his father's wisdom. As he looked over the Great Sketches, which showed the universe in every single moment of time, frame by frame, he saw the terrible things that the powers he was master of would cause people to do to each other. As such, supposedly to protect mortals, he sealed them away. But he himself was a being of love, and love was so integral to the universe that he completely altered the course of history, breaking timeline and causing the Sketches to tear apart and the Nine to be separated from the Mortal Plane. >What remained was a broken mess of a world, where all of history occured in one moment. And Mickey, with all of the friendship and love within him twisted into a form of darkness, a dark stranger, saw what he had created.>Chernabog decided he liked it better this way.Tell me if this seems a little too "high fantasy" for what we've got going on here.
>>36350613*breaking the timelineI should have looked over this for typos.
>>36350460>>36350412Read through some stuff and you guys really like chernabog; I'm going to go ahead and let you do your own thing with him.Chernabog was "the devil himself," very clearly, because of the song that defeats him.Ave Maria! stainless styled.Foul demons of the earth and air,From this their wonted haunt exiled,Shall flee before thy presence fair.We bow us to our lot of care,Beneath thy guidance reconciled;Hear for a maid a maiden's prayer,And for a father hear a child!Ave Maria.Go ahead and put Chernabog and Frollo against each other and I'll be happy.
Wait, I don't see Wilfred's name on the Nine listIs he like the fourth member of the three musketeers? Is there and plays a big part but for some reason people never add the last number?
>>36350665Eh, most people seem to want to have Frollo worshipping Chernabog because Chernie pants tricked him into believing he is God, and then made him immortalFrankly, I like the idea of Frollo not dying because of a gypsy curse a lot more
>>36350665... Chernabog kind of killed God and so Frollo accidentally worships him...I guess he'd be pretty mad if he found out God was really Satan?
>>36350665But Frollo now worships Chernobog.
>>36350131>>36350673He was their boss. Come on guys, pay some attention.
>>36350665Chernobog tricked Frollo into worshipping him and then made him a lich.
>>36350673Afraid so. He was their director, but Walt was the figurehead. Anyone who's worked in show business should know how things turned out.I'm going to go on a fluff reading binge and come back. Have fun without me for awhile- I'm glad I decided to come back to 4chan.
>>36350831Here's something else, by the way.Adventurer's Almanac:https://docs.google.com/document/d/1kI-I-ClcaZc4YPFQzmExOxfqzHAsLOkqLnKufm9Ty5c/edit?usp=sharingIt's great to have you aboard!
>mfw somebody with Disney in the bloodstream comes to the project>mfw wanting to know more>mfw apparently Walt was just kind of an asshole>mfw this is the second big figure of my childhood that I have learned the dark truth about>mfw I suddenly feel like my dream of being like them is full of lies>mfw all these guys I should know about in order to try and be as good as but never even heard aboutFuuuuuuuuuuuuck son.
>>36350953You didn't know Walt Disney was a huge, thieving asshole?
>>36350989Well, no.I mean, I kinda heard about it before but it was as a kid and it kind of just slipped my mind. Besides, you can be a huge asshole and still make some good shit, I thought that was the case.Welp, back to the corner with myself, I guess
>>36351020Well, the more you know.
I don't see Captain Hook on the list of villains. And are we allowing King John and Hiss from Robin Hood?
I was looking at the entry for Tzekel Kan and I realized something, the players won't need to kill him, after all he believes himself to be a god, but he forgot one thing, ironic really as he said it himself "Gods. Don't. Bleed."
>>36351020Anon, it was your perception of the man that made you idolize him. It is that lie to which you aspire. The man may not be who you thought he was but that isn't what matters. What matters is the dream. You must become what you dreamed him to be. The truth of his dickery is irrelevant to that aim.
>>36351074Captain Hook is one of the five Pirate Lords, he rules over most of the atlantic from his throne of Never Never Land. King john and Hiss will probably have their rumor mill but the most used idea is that John is a political refugee in Scar's Pridelands and costantly pesters his "cousin" to launch an invasion of Prydain while Hiss deserted him and now serves Kaa.

While his 4 predecessors had to fight only mortal men, the Horned King's rise meant that James had to spend his entire watch fighting the Cauldronborn and the occasional Lesser Gwythaint. While the experience removed much of his capacity to feel fear, it also caused his humor to darken and him to lose hope; hope that was partially restored when Arthur bested him. Now he does his King's bidding knowing that it will bring the light that will end this dark era.

He is clad in full chainmail, a breastplate and a simple helm all in pearly white.Rundown:The White Knights were said to be meant to test King Arthur's wisdom, but their test was a token if everything; they knew that they would be the last Knight he would encounter, so if he had not slain the other 4 Knights and instead had them as his allies, that was proof enough of his wisdom. When Arthur, his closed companions (Taran of Caer Dallben, Princess Eilonwy and Princess Meridia among others) and the other 4 knights, came to the blessed shrine beneath Camelot in which he waited, Charles offered no challenge. Instead, he merely expressed how happy he was that he could now go and, under Arthur's lead, right all the wrongs plaguing Prydain. He also told Taran the Horned King's victory was not his fault; Gurgi had been born with just enough courage in his heart to make the heroic sacrifice needed to destroy the Black Cauldron's powers forever, but some great evil, one that made the Horned King seem an infant in comparison, snatched it away to ensure the Horned King's victory, just as it had done to others to ensure the victory of all the other tyrants ruling this world. Then they all went upstairs to the feasting hall and sung their own rendition of the 'Camelot' song from Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

We each have a quality about us that could make us fine kings, but King Arthur would exceed us in every such aspect. Let one of us stand at each of these points and force a test of this attribute on all who pass by; whoever can best us must be King Arthur, so we shall follow him." Of course, the wait was longer than expected, and since they basically had to wait for a suitable young adolescent to walk by, the quality control on finding replacements was not the best. >>36357323The example TNs are to normal people, it should probably be higher on actually important NPCs. TN35 would persuade them to do something really against their nature, and convince them that it was right, and TN40 would probably change their nature because that's a Hero-tier roll.
So, I'm compiling and making some Heroic traits here, and are we still trying to stick with the whole "On heroic situations" thing? Because some of those are pretty damn straightforward. Just huge bonuses. Can I make up some regulations or is it better to just put them all here and let people decide?I think that a good idea would be to make a small note for the GMs: "Heroic Traits should be active in situations where the characters are pushed to their limits and must win adversity worth of true heroes. It is recommended that for those non-specified heroic traits that the GM makes his own conditions"
>>36357423I think the general idea was just for them to be incredibly strong Traits so that Hero-tier characters could do incredible/ridiculous stuff all the time without worrying about rolls.I'd say throw them up there, the general outline is that a generic huge bonus should provide between +5 and +7(Roughly +1.5d6 to +2d6) depending on it's restrictions, and bigger bonuses for desperate situations, etc.
>>36357303Brawl:TN 15 is managing to engage a foe without hurting yourself with your own punches and stopping them for a momentTN 20 is engaging a foe and dealing enough damage to leave them dazzedTN 25 is engaging a foe and breaking bones or knocking other fighters outTN 30 is engaging a foe and flawlessly stomping them even if they have great armorWhat about those?
>>36357620That's not how our combat system works, though: Brawl is rolled against Prevent Harm.
>>36357620That works. At least, against the average person, which is what that's for. 'course, in combat there won't be a TN for it (or rather the TN is Prevent Harm or Defense) but if you need to 'simulate combat' against someone and don't feel like treating them like mooks...
>>36357641....Well damn.I'll try something not related to combat
>>36357510So would this be one?>PUNCH OF FRIENDSHIP AND HOPE>Requisites>Can only be used with no Strikes remaining>Can only be used when all allies are downed>Can only be used when in an incredibly desperate situation>Results>All stats and skills transfer into Brawl and Robustness>All stat and skill bonuses affect Brawl amd Robustness>Attack a chosen target
>>36357641>>36357662Occult:TN 15 - You can recall a trivial piece of Occult knowledge. (Pixies are a kind of fairy)TN 20 - A standard piece of mystical knowledge. (Fey are weak to Iron and Fire)TN 25 - A specific or complicated piece of Occult knowledge. (Sorcery cannot be used to directly kill!)TN 30 - An incredibly specific or obscure piece of Occult knowledge. (The marks left by the fey in these woods are evidence of a ritual happening in the next Full Moon)Better?
>>36357303Driving:TN15: Do something basic; Drive a car in a straight line.TN20: Do something requiring training or reflexes; Get a plane to take off.TN25: Do something requiring training and reflexes; Weave a plane through a dogfight without taking damage.TN30: Do something requiring training and reflexes while something is impeding you; Fly a plane through stormy mountains while pursued by Gwythaints.
Alright, here's a list with the ten Heroic Traitshttp://pastebin.com/91ceLsXmIt isn't nearly as many as we should have, but it's what I could find. We need to decide on more utility onesReminder that not all of those were agreed or properly balanced so we might need to discuss them as well
>>36357748That's like.+70.On a base character.That's kind of a lot.>>36357754Looks good.>>36357766Yep, except change TN15 to: drive a car to work.TN10 would be driving a car in a straight line.
>>36357817Good idea. It did seem a bit high for TN15.
>>36357817It's only usable when all allies are down, all strikes are out and the world will end otherwise. You basically don't get the +70 unless you're fighting Chernabog himself. And that's Disney As Fuck.
>>36357864Can't you just say it gives you a +70?
>>36357864Probably want to make it a Power then because otherwise players will probably feel that their trait is wasted if it's a MAYBE that it ever gets used, and they spent, like, 6 lessons on that, man!>>36357808Change Righteous Fury to +3 instead (average party should be taking ~5 strikes, so that's still +15), Voice of Thunder to +5, Great Typhoon to one round instead of two (or one extra action for two rounds) and prevent more than one will point being spent on it a turn -- can you say 'one-rounding cherrybomb'?>>36357905Agreed, it's pretty wordy for "Gives you a +60 bonus to Brawl when on no strikes and all allies are defeated."
>>36357939I think this could end up severely nerfing all Heroic Traits to be not any better than the strongest normal ones.I say old Chivalry (+3 to Persuade, Intimidate, Deceive, and Music) would be a good power level for a Heroic Trait
My crunch-sense says that getting TN30 is really easy for a specialized character while getting TN35 is really hard for anyone without heroic traits. How odd.
>>36357939Oh yeahForgot this was traits, not powers
>>36357303MechanicsTN15: Make basic repairs; Swap out a broken bicycle chain.TN20: Make extensive repairs; Rebuild a motorcycle after it's been run over.TN25: Construct a complex machine; Build a motorcycle from scratch.TN30: Design or heavily modify a complex machine; Build a jet engine into a motorcycle.
>>36358077Not sure what you're talking about, +5 to a skill with no drawbacks is really, really good, especially at the cost of a regular trait. Also +3 to all but deceive would make a good heroic trait, yes.
>>36358105Let's take a quick look at the math and see if that's right. The average specialized character will have 12 in a stat, 6 in the skill, and a trait that gives +2 to it, on average. That results in an average bonus of +20, which makes TN30 of average (More than 50% of the time) difficulty, whereas TN35 would be difficult but attainable with 4d6k3, or higher skills, or more traits.Eh, TN35 should be inaccessible for all but specialized characters but easily possible without heroic traits. This is entirely, entirely ignoring the use of Powers to grant bonus +5, on average.Really, Heroic Traits should give the same bonus as non-heroic powers, usually.
>>36358329Are Heroic traits just gonna be normally available to any and all Hero-tier Pcs or do they have any different requirements? Like an extra lesson or something. Also, I was reading the progression thing on the 1d4chan pageSkill: 2 Lessons; Trait: 4 Lessons; Attribute: 6 Lessons; New Power every 10 Lessons.Does that mean that with 4 Lessons we get a trait and two skill point?
By the way, I compared 3d6 to 4d6k3 to 5d6k3 with AnyDice, these are the results.
>>36358382No, you spend your Lessons to buy those, so for four lessons you could get one new trait, or use those same 4 lessons to get two skill points. You should keep track of how many you have so that you find out when you get lessons, though.>>36358420Think you may have messed that up, m8. I can't see anything.
>>36358420Oh, bugger, it's being difficult. Looks like I'll have to resort to printscreen.
>>36358464Fascinating. 4d6k3 fits with my predictions of 12-13 being average, but I didn't expect 5d6k3 to average 14, I was assuming 14.5-15. Thanks, this should be useful for plotting required TNs for specialized, difficult stuff.
>>36358420>>36358485When are we using 5d6k3? I thought 4d6k3 was the rule/exception since the whole system is usually 3d6
So how is magic going to work? Do you spend Will? Or do you do something else?
>>36358485It seems you get diminishing returns with dice that you don't keep. Hold on a sec, and I'll bring back another interesting graph.
>>36358617Oh. Duh.I really need to memorize things beyond Zero tier, I've made so many characters as Zeroes that I didn't pay attention to the upper tiers
It's obvious that kept dice are better than not kept dice; this is just how much better they are.>>36358617>>36358528As of On A Roll tier, you get to use 5d6k3 for your prime stat.>>36358583We've got an IRC discussion room for that. A link to it should be somewhere in this thread. So far, it looks like will points, items and occult checks will be involved.
>>36358640Eh, it's part of the game that we're really barely only into. When the game first goes into beta, only the Zero Tier will really be done-done. On-A-Roll will be mostly done, and we don't really have shit on Hero tier.So really, the average roll for a Zero player is 10.5, the average for On-a-roll is 12.5, and the average for Hero is 14. Finding out the average actual bonus is going to need playtesting.
>>36358732That's going to be a clusterfuck. As seen in>>36358587>>36358464when you start rolling dice you don't keep, the whole distribution becomes asymmetrical; the more dice you don't keep, the more asymmetrical it becomes.
>>36358683Guess that works.See I made this Villain use magic >>36353850 but I don't know if I did it right.>-Black Bolt>Spend 1 Will point, unit makes a ranged attack equal to R+X2, where R is ranged and X is Occult. Can go up to 40m.Would this work?Or is it no good?
>>36358792Yeah, it significantly spikes dice rolls towards the left. I still think keeping more dice is bad, and just giving a flat bonus is boring, but how are we going to balance this? >>36358851I'm pretty sure disney magic can't directly kill.
>>36358876towards the right*It pushes them towards the 12-18 end of the scale. Typo.
>>36358851It's a strong villain that a strong group of strong PCs need to overcome, no one's going to give a shit if it doesn't follow the same rules as PC magic. The only questions you should be asking is "Is this too powerful for its tier?" and "If asked, what kind of magic will I say it is?" Witchcraft/Sorcery cannot directly kill in the Disney laws.http://disney.wikia.com/wiki/Magic#Types_of_Magic
>>36358971>"Is this too powerful for its tier?"Seems good. It's meant to face 4 - 6 On-a-Roll heroes, so it's meant to be at least semi-powerful.>"If asked, what kind of magic will I say it is?"Could I just say Death magic, because it's supposed to be like the Grim Reaper? Or should we make it that CherryBomb literally broke the rules, and Withcraft/Sorcey can kill?
>>36358876>>36358902Well, I guess this might count as studying for my upcoming statistics exams.
>>36359065If Churned Up Bog rewrote the rules, then the PCs can use them too. I'm doubtful that we want that. The Grim Reaper, however, can be said to be a psychopomp; a divine being that escorts the dead to their respective afterlives. So you could say it's simply divine magic.
>>36354757The IRC is sucking all the discussion out of the thread.
>>36359594Nah, it's just late. And really, what's left are just the kinda tedious details so no wonder people seem to have lost some steam
>>36359594There's literally nobody in the IRCI checked
>>36359622I can keep stating Villains, but there's gonna be some magic users, and there's not any pastebins or a lists of magic

>>36359683If you dig back a few threads, you'll find what Archmage and his IRC buddies have decided would be the 5 levels of Hypnotism and Scrying. Though they only discuss magic we'd be willing to put in the hands of PCs, so you won't find anything for killing magic. If you want something that breaths fire or some other suitably dangerous substance (Cauldronborn true dragon?), I'd recommend ranged+2xRobustness.
>>36360099Alright>(Cauldronborn true dragon?)Horned King's got a Wyvern mengComing up next in the Villains is going to be a Hydra by the wayAlso have we decided how Poisons gonna work? Because otherwise I'm gonna make it a stacking effect that causes -1 Robustness and Agility for each stack, capping at 10 stacks.
>>36360230A true dragon might be more dangerous than a Gwythaint by virtue of muscle mass and breath weapon.....wait. Shit. If something with wings becomes Cauldronborn, can it still fly? What's our rule for "make this thing Cauldronborn"?
>>36360380Oh it's not that I don't want it to not be dangerous, I mean I did make that giant, it's just that he's already got a wyvern, and two dragon-types seem a bit overkill. Plus, a bunch of the other Kings will probably get or be able to transform into dragons.
>>36360230Poisons cause Strikes, and are resisted with Robustness+Endure.
>>36360099Also, I thought I had:>"Legend has it, in the mystic land of Prydain, there was once a king so cruel and so evil, that even the gods feared him. Since no prison could hold him, he was thrown alive into a crucible of molten iron. There his demonic spirit was captured in the form of a great Black Cauldron."What if Arawn could trick the PCs into defeating the Horned King is such a way that it unleashes him (no idea how that would work, but just go with me on this) in all his power. Then the PCs have their true final boss battle against ARAWN MOTHERFUCKING DEATHLORD. In the books, Taran was destined to slay Arawn in the form of a serpent (which could be interpreted as some sort of dragon) with Dyrnwyn, so the goal of the battle will be to hold the line while Taran gets himself out of whatever obstacle is preventing him from shanking the greatest evil that ever tread upon Prydain like a bitch on the first round. All throughout the fight, Arawn gloats about how his ally "The Dread One" manipulated them all into freeing him from his iron prison, and how he will turn Prydain into his own personal "Bald Mountain". And the words he speaks before he destroyed utterly? A desperate cry for help: "CHEEEERRRRRRNNNNAAAAABOOOOOOG!"
>>36360954that's not very disney, is it?i mean, i like it but it's not part of the animated canon
Sorry for my lack of activity in this thread, I've been attending to my social life today.>>36359809Do people want this Elsa over the current one on the Kings/Villains page? Also, what would the TN challenges for Athletic look like?
>>36361146Also I forgot my name. I posted once out-of-thread today.
>>36360954Interesting. Does Arawn have steampunk goblins as minions?
>>36360954I like it. That was all in the books if I recall so it's fine by me.
>>36361078Arawn was originally planned to be the antagonist (and they ended up putting a lot of aspects of Arawn into the Horned King anyways), they had concept art for him and everything. And we know that Arawn is still in the Black Cauldron from HK's death scene. There have been a few Disney movies where the powerful, dangerous antagonist just shows up in the final act out of the blue (the whale in Pinochio, the baby-killing rat from Lady and the Tramp, The Bear from Fox and the Hound) and wrecks everyone's shit only to be just barely defeated, so I wouldn't say this isn't Disney.
>>36361146she needs will points.Athletics:TN15: Climb a chain-link fence.TN20: Climb a ten-foot fence.TN25: Climb a fifteen-foot fence.TN30: Climb a twenty-foot fence.Or something like that. >>36361444Is this one of Usula's Villains?
>>36361254#shots fired>>36361389But really, we could have put a lot of cool things in the setting and still didn't because they weren't Disney. This is the same thing: he's not the actual villain of the movie, so no Arawn.
>>36361428>opinionsAnyhow, it's a school night. See you in about 12 hours.
>>36361444>>36361462Woops, forgot to mention it's from Olympia.
>>36361335Ya, actually the picture I chose was concept art for Flynn I think. I wanted something right in the middle. Anywho posting a pic of Alvaleo's description of his dream waifu. *cough*itshelgasinclaire*cough*
>>36361558My mind is drawn to Nob's prophetic statement a couple threads back:"oh god people will claim every female villain as a waifu"
>>36361463The whole 'taking everything from the people just so that they don't have it' is also from the books. But I guess that's a minor element that doesn't go against anything in canon, unlike what I have proposed tonight.....fair enough. But I would still to somehow work into the setting that Arawn and Chernabog were close enough in power for them to keep contact, though Chernabog is the vastly more powerful of the two.
>>36361595I was watching Atlantis on Netflix to see if I wanted to make an Atlantean and I......got distracted. But it doesn't have to be her! Just someone like her. It would probably never come up in session anyway.
>>36361498>further opinionsMan, I get you're trying to go for an "oh shit" moment, but I just feel like trying to drag Arawn into it when the Horned King is already 60% Arawn only diminishes the both of them. And it really doesn't help when your version has him failing to kill Taran; the Horned King's whole deal is coldly effective ruthlessness and brutality, and having him fail to kill Taran after years just makes him into a joke.
>>36361706That's not meant in a bad way. Your character is pretty goddamn Disney, and romance is, as I've expressed before, the epitome of Disney. The mere fact that we're making a goddamn Disney justifies everything. If you want it, it DOES have to be her. The only thing stopping you is a statdump into persuasion and charm.
>>36361709I kind of like the idea that there are options for each hero to be both dead and alive, so that DMs can tweak how dark they want the world to be. That was there is a way to get the traditional good disney ending, the bittersweet one, and the edge lord snuff porn option.
>>36361709In my version of the Horned King's victory, he gets the location of the Black Cauldron from Hen Wen as well as how he'd need to bargain for it, then chucks Taran into the dungeon in case he needs Hen Wen for anything else later. While the Horned King's men are away acquiring the Cauldron, Taran escapes with Eilonwy and Flam as they did in the movie. BAM.
>>36361782Seconded.Disney is romance and music at its core. We would have mechanics for romance but we're justifing it by saying that cherriborg sucked all that outta the universe.
>>36355149In that case I commend your resourcefulness.>>36350342I wasted a good chunk of time finding this for you.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7DyRxlvM9VM
>>36361818Yes, and in my version, the Horned King left a few guards behind and they all died of starvation. Your point?
I thought there were like three separate discussion going on and multiple crunch/fluff aspects being debated but it just sped to a screeching halt and I'm not sure why.
>>36361444pump in some more strikes there. Probably another ~6 strikes, base since it's smart enough to get hit by Social Strikes, unlike MR BONES who is immune to players and their wild rides.>>36361558>>36361595 I knew this would happen.>>36361782Also that some of them may just be irredeemably evil.>>36361838Honestly, when I run the game I just assume that Churn-n-whirl is literally just satan. No reason for him to have a 'fallen from grace' story, because he's literally the devil and wants people to suffer.
>>36361886In the movie, their first escape was with guards present, and once the Horned King has his Cauldron, he'll only give half a shit about capturing those escaped prisoners.
>>36361444Physical Description/Backgound: Pround to the point of Arrogance, and it has a right to be. Fighting the Hydra is fighting an uphill battle. Poisons, bleeding, multiple heads. This 30ft long, 15ft tall monster must have some weakness.>>36361838>Extra CreditsI shiggy diggy do
>>36362037Yes, but what does the setting gain by having them be alive? IMHO, it makes the Horned King look like a bit of a loser if he can't take down Taran, a character whose seeming defining trait is his rank incompetence. It's "Villains Victorious," not "Villains Kinda Got The Thing They Wanted For Now But The Heroes Are Just Lying In Wait And Will Be Back To Kick Their Asses Any Day Now."
>>36362034Are you insinuating I cannot woo Maleficent? In all seriousness though this would be a part if the character that would likely never come up in session. Though I will say Helga's conscience was acting up in the movie, so I doubt she's irredeemable. Either way it would be lame to make others sit through that.Dose hips do......
>>36362034You sure? Because without some source of fire, the Hydra is pretty stronk. At least 12 actions with all 12 heads, which it will get, because it has semi-low life.Plus poisonPlus bleedingPlus it's regular attack power>>36362136>Implying MR BONES is redeemable
>>36362195>romance will be a part of the character that never comes up in session>for an attractive pc>in fucking disneyonly if your gm is utter fucking shit it won't
>>36362180Some of the heroes are alive. The incompetent, powerless ones, by and large. Also Mulan, but she's not really... 'alive'.>>36362219Didn't realize it got extra actions with each head. That's...Remove bleeding, it's just too complicated and adds a lot of 'interesting' questions like 'what happens if I go below 0 robustness' that we don't need answered. Also, MR BONES will be completely redeemable in my game. You'll ride him into battle, but you can't get off.>>36362234or if, perchance that GM doesn't much enjoy doing player romance.
>>36362219Mickey mouse club house level: Every hero is redeemable, even the HK and FrolloDisney's Mickey Mouse Reboot: not every villain is redeemable, but people such as Elsa and Rourke arnt beyond savingSteam Boat Willy level: Elsa needs to be put down. For good. And Rourke is literally Hitler mixed with Andrew Jackson mixed with cartoony asshole. No survivors, and this only ends once each villains head is on a pie
>>36362283>gm running a session based of disney tropes and universe>doesn't enjoy player romanceyou say the darndest things
>>36362327>Steam Boat Willy levelI laughed. Frollo is probably pretty redeemable though, it's just that he'd most likely commit suicide the instant he realized what he'd become. There wasn't anyone who had a sit-down with Frollo in the movie and just went "Hey Frollo, you're a fucking asshole. Seriously man, look at yourself." Which is the PCs job.
>>36362331Well, since apparently i'm a shit GM because I don't enjoy awkwardly talking about romance in roleplay with a bunch of people in person, I guess it really is the 'darndest things'.>>36362327Cherrybomb and the Firebird will never be redeemable.
>>36362374Just use gratuitous fade-to-black then and give other party members something to do while party member #3 is off proclaiming his eternal love to Grimhilde. Ruling out romance in a Disney session is hitler-tier
>>36362234I really made a character I would prefer to see in a movie than just strictly in a game. And it was made in the hope my computer arrives in time for me to get in a play test. Outside of tg the only group I would play this with is going to have me as the GM, since I'm the eternal GM, and I don't do DMPCs.I might write some fanfic but that's as far as it will ever likely go. Also Disney's Mickey Mouse Reboot is the option that appealed most to me other anon.
>>36362283Yeah, that should be pretty obvious that a lot of them made it through in some manner, but honestly, it's the "Taran is destined to kill Arawn" that I take exception with. It's a character who never appeared in a movie that has a cult following at best, that diminishes the character who's the primary reason that following exists to begin with, and leads to a character who never appeared but is now the man-behind-the-man getting killstealed by a character who should probably be dead while the PCs handle his stooge, who worked just fine as the big bad. It's not a very good idea, is what I'm saying.>>36362374I think the Firebird's not redeemable, but it is containable. It's a force of nature; it's just that its victory has thrown the balance of nature out of flux. If you were to revive the Spring Sprite, the Firebird could be contained once again.Unless the Spring Sprite is permanently dead, in which case the only way the Firebird is ever going to be acceptable is after several thousand tons of TNT.
>>36362427I wonder what a DVV movie would look like.
>>36362374Hey, you did Avea just fine. I think most players would be satisfied by that.>>36362180It wasn't that he couldn't take down Taran, it's that he won so handily early in the movie that he could not give less of a shit about Taran. With the Black Cauldron, he was a god among men; why should he give a shit about a pig keeper, a scullery maid and a raggedy bard?

>>36362472Eh, maybe I'm just too fond of the books.Okay, this time, I'm going to bed.
I'm actually with Nob with roping romance in game. This video expresses pretty well my thoughts on the manner.http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ODgu_-rR1X8>>36362479For some reason I imagine it would be a lot like Firefly. To be honest the fluff has always been the main appeal of this game to me, I've always seen it as a movie or book.
>>36362643Rping* dang iPhone autocorrect
>>36362493>>36362423>>36362643Text is easy and not that hard to pull off. Acting is much harder when it comes to romance, at least for me.>>36362544Seems like this'd be an easy villain for any party with an Inquisitor or equivalent weapon to dispatch.>>36362479Probably an edgy, gritty reboot of a childhood classic that you'd hate and wonder who possibly okayed this.DVV works because it's just a disney universe where the heroes are on the bottom of the pile, rather than the top. Good should (eventually, with a lot of work and sacrifice) eventually win, and most people are essentially good.Hollywood isn't good at that.
>>36362643My opinion: Romance can happen, it's allowed to happen, but keep it PG rated, for the love of god.
This is a little something I whipped up for those who want sorcerer-kings to be able to wreck PC's shit if they don't come prepared with special knowledge, magic, or other plot-based things.ASS-KICKING ELSA (ONION-HAIR EDITION)Queen Elsa the FrozenCountry of Origin: ArrendelleClass: Snow QueenSize: Medium Species: HumanRobustness: 12Agility: 16Intelligence: 16Sensibility: 10Charm: 15Strikes = 32Skills:Acrobatics 7Athletic 6Ranged 18Prevent Harm 16Occult 15Endure 8Academics 8Music 14Traits:-Ice Queen's Madness – Elsa is quick to lash out, and rolls to calm her down suffer a +10 to difficulty.-Frozen Heart – Social strikes against Elsa have a +10 to difficulty, but deal triple strikes.-Following – This unit is followed by a massive Ice Golem with 18 Robustness, 10 prevent harm and 12 Brawl.-And the North Wind Blows – Elsa is surrounded by constant icy winds that can damage players who roll less than 20 on a ROBUSTNESS-based Prevent Harm roll that they must take every turn that Elsa is angry at them. (This TN is only 16 if they are wearing warm clothing)-Queen – This unit is a Queen, and receives appropriate bonuses.Powers:-Freeze – Renders one specific unit unable to act until a different unit spends five turns helping them up.-Ice Shards – Spends a will point to make two ranged attacks against every member of the party with no penalties.-Ice Shield – Gives a +15 to prevent harm for 2 rounds at a cost of one will point.-Ice Palace –Elsa can create a frozen fortress to hide in, and will do so if she is down to 5 or fewer strikes and it is her turn. The players can try to stop her retreat with a TN 45 Persuade check, but if she flees, she will have full Strikes and be totally recovered before she’s willing to come out again, days or possibly weeks later.-Ice Golems – Can create Snow Golem Mooks at a rate of 2d6 per Will point spent.Equipment:None.
>>36362643>>36362691Oh, I assumed you were talking about an over-text game. Yeah, romance in real-life is usually just fucking weird unless you're pretty much perma fading-to-black. >>36362699Anything past child-friendly insinuations and maybe, MAYBE a kiss should be faded-to-black. And only after the kiss has been interrupted no less than three times.>>36362702That's a difficult-ass Elsa. Should we use this one instead of the one currently on the Kings/Villains page?
>>36362797>Anything past child-friendly insinuations and maybe, MAYBE a kiss should be faded-to-black. And only after the kiss has been interrupted no less than three times. This should be a rule. Also, I like the harder Elsa. That'd put even an out-of-combat roll to calm her down if you piss her the fuck off at TN40.
>>36362702ATNWB should really be Endure, rather than Prevent Harm. Also for someone so thin she's robust as fuck, apparently. She increases the difficulty of Persuasion checks against her by +20? that's... a lot, but appropriate.>>36362841It's what I do for in-person RP, at least. Text can go up to and including kissing and hand holding
>>36362691Yep, that's the point, gotta be smart and prepared when you enter Olympia or face a Villain. Because otherwise you're gonna get your shit wrecked.
>>36362881What about ___hugs____?
>>36362909
Definitely allowed, but only if friendly. Romantic hugs would be a case-by-case basis, but generally warrant a fade to black. Save that shit for the bedroom.
>>36362909Only if they're of true love. For the more difficult Elsa, if I'm reading it correct, would be TN30 for an out-of-combat persuasion roll, TN40 if you look like Hans or something, with TN28 against an in-combat melee or ranged attack and TN18 against an in-combat social attack. Also she has +30 to any attacks and can destroy every support character in a couple turns.Also,>TN45That's a REALLY fucking difficult Elsa.
>>36362797Sverd with his prudishness. I say you can RP as much romance as your particular group is able to handle without either fetishising it or anyone being uncomfortable. As much as nobody wants a /d/m, making rules about these things be an integral part of the setting, even for a Disney game, seems like you've reached the point where you are no longer making a world for people to do things in, and you've started telling them what to do there. I mean, we should assume that anything done in this setting will be tasteful, but making a rule prohibiting players from RPing a romance that goes beyond kissing seems like something a GM should do, not a system.>>36362881Actually, the +10 from the Ice Queen's Madness is only to calm her down when you pissed her off and the +10 from Frozen Heart is only for social strikes. The two don't necessarily stack.
>>36363000+10 for Ice Queen's Madness, +10 for Frozen heart gives her TN40 against persuasion. Also, I'm pretty sure TN45 is possibly attainable with On-A-Roll, some powers, music, and fantastic luck.
>>36363028Ice Queen's Madness only applies if she fuckin mad, though. Like, if someone said something that reminded her of Anna or something like that. It'd be TN30 for just a 'hey we aren't gonna kill you' or something.Ok, so for an on-a-roll hero with 70 points:7 points in Persuade14 points in Charisma4 points from traits1 point from equipmentA roll of 18 = 44
So how strong are the Titans?Like stronger than Hades or a bit weaker than him?
>>36363079Remember to add +~4-5 from Music, roughly 3.5 for powers, and roll 4d6k3.
>>36363028IQM only affects times when you made her angry and you are trying to make her stop doing something i.e. a defensive Persuade of some kind. Frozen Heart applies in combat. The two are not meant to stack all the time. I increased the bonus from +5 to +10 to be able to make her not have 15 sensibility because that doesn't reflect mental instability very well.I'm actually tweaking it a bit, so a new version will be ready in a few.
>>36362881Also, we need to spell out the difference between Endure and Prevent Harm. I thought one was for social attacks?
>>36363153Prevent Harm is to resist physical attacks on your person.Endure is a catchall for resisting social strikes, mental and magical strikes, and anything that it wouldn't make any sense to dodge, block, etc like poison, environmental effects, and possibly even falling -- we haven't really decided on that.
>>36363126I'm already assuming that they had the best possible roll though, an 18.With a +4 from the group singer singing and using a +2 bonus, they'd need a 12, an average roll. So I suppose one is possible for a super-duper persuasive character.
Also, And The North Wind Blows is intended to be a pretty easy check. Assuming you aren't that one dumbfuck who wears nothing but his Aladdin-style open vest to the fucking ice wasteland because MUH CHARACTER CONCEPT, then it's a TN of 16. if the average roll is 10, that just assumes a +6 from the most common defensive skill, robustness, armor, singing, and all other bonuses combined.>>36363197I balanced TN 45 around +5 from a great singer, +14 from Charm, +6 from Persuade, maybe a trait, a power, and then it's doable fairly easily.
Someone should make a new thread. The newest thread is archived: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Disney%20villainsplease vote it up.Remember to include the magic IRC in the OP.

>>36363318Still includes using Prevent Harm to stop a non-physical attack instead of Endure.
>>36363343That was intentional. The damage from the ice storm comes from flying ice. It's ROBUSTNESS-based because it's about just taking the ice without crumbling.
>>36363415I would still rule that as Endure rather than Prevent Harm. You don't just force an attribute choice on someone, Prevent Harm can be done with either Robustness or Agility.
>>36363113Stronger, but much much stupider. They can solo olympia, but need hades to direct them. I figure that the three Titans combined could be compared to Fire Bird in total strength.
>>36363305I don't the IRC is still up. Just checked, and it wasn't there
>>36362365Just wanted to agree with this before I go to bed.
According to my look at the system, a perfectly balanced party should have:>1 Strong Guy, probably branching into charisma as well>1 Nimble Guy, covering all skills that involve stealing and stuff, branching into charisma skills only if the Strong Guy does not because his class covers less stuff>1 Smart Guy capable of knowing how to drive, operate things, remember things and speak to things - basically the all around support>1 Sensible Guy for occult, healing, and backup fighting to the Strong and Sensible guy>1 Charismatic Guy to focus as much on music as humanly possible as well as the charisma skills that the strong or maybe nimble guy did not>1 animal mascot because fuck yes disneyThe reasoning behind the Charismatic guy not focusing fully on Charisma is because they should be playing music for EVERY FUCKING IMPORTANT ROLL IN THE GAME. Even though they get an extra k1 as opposed the the Strong Guy or Nimble Guy, the +5 bonus from playing music the Charismatic guy can provide outclasses in enough that they should still be providing amazing theme music to any strong/nimble guy attempt to persuade people or whatnot. The Strong Guy is the best option to branch into Charisma because he only has to focus on having a high robustness/agility, good melee, athletics and endure/prevent harm, which are mostly pretty much what everyone has to. This frees up the Strong Guy to put quite a bit of effort and lessons in Charisma skills. Ironically, the Charismatic guy isn't actually the best option for charisma.
>>36363876Should be "Backup fighting to the Strong and Nimble guy"
>>36361595Hey, in my defense, Evelyn came on to me
>>36363876>1 Strong Guy, probably branching into charisma as wellI see strong potential for Strong Guys to branch into Intelligence or Sensibility as well, skills not providing much in the way of ROBUSTNESS tests as compared to the other attributes.>1 Nimble Guy, covering all skills that involve stealing and stuff, branching into charisma skills only if the Strong Guy does not because his class covers less stuffAgreed. Nimble Guy is also a good combat monster due to how ranged weapons work, and in fact our most powerful combat monsters have been ranged gunfighters.>1 Smart Guy capable of knowing how to drive, operate things, remember things and speak to things - basically the all around supportPretty much. Smart Guy is the skillmonkey, moreso than the Nimble Guy unlike most systems.>>1 Sensible Guy for occult, healing, and backup fighting to the Strong and Sensible guyHealing and occult are both based on Intelligence, by and large. Sensible is the combat tank and entrance specialist -- Sensible characters can eat a shitload of social combat before actually going down, are perceptive, and can convince most people to do things their way.>1 Charismatic Guy to focus as much on music as humanly possible as well as the charisma skills that the strong or maybe nimble guy did not>Ironically the Charming guy isn't actually the best option for charmWell, actually he is, it's just that being Disney music is appropriately strong as fuck. Charming Guys in general are probably the current strongest class due to having Persuasion, Deceit, AND Music as favored skills. Also, in an actual game of DVV, all of them will probably be animals but the smart guy.
>>36363998I particularly liked the one Charming girl in the first playtest who took a -4 to persuade in exchange for getting a music bonus, while the Strong guy of that campaign played Robust/Charisma. Actually, the first playtest party would have been 100% perfect if they had a smart guy. That should be the model for a balanced party there.
>>36364156I disagree, and I'm a little glad we've moved away from massive penalties for specific bonuses. That party had some problems with it, particularly that their Nimble Guy was just not that great at nimble things, their Sensible Guy played more like a Charming Guy, and the second Agile Guy was a fucking monster at shooting but not good at anything else.
New thread is up: >>36364318
>>36364293Disagree about the Charismatic/Strong dynamic? I think that was their strongest point crunch-wise. I do agree with you that the Nimble guy should have branched out, that the Sensible guy should have played more sensibly-y and that the second Nimble should have been a smart, but seriously, the way they handled music/persuasion out-of-combat and in-combat was fucking great. That's the main reason I think the party was good, though, the Charismatic and Strong of it.
>>36364348No, I disagree with the Charming guy not being the party's main Deceiver or Persuader -- although they should really only take one role and leave the other to either a Sensible Guy or to a Strong Guy. In particular, I disagree with heavy optimization towards one role, especially if that role is something as... i hate to say boring, but as boring as just giving your allies +5 bonuses to whatever roll you want to do, and Charming Guys need to be able to do more than that.Strong guy was great. Sverd (the character) is really one of the disney-est characters we've come up with. All of the first playtest characters were great, but Sverd had the combination of stupid and charming that's entertaining to watch.'Course, if you want, I can wax romantic about any of the characters.
