Of your companions, only Mili and Vivi seem unbothered by the contents of the letter that arrived this morning. The two children are far too busy eating their porridge, as well as making sure the table and the floor get a generous helping as well.“Why now?” asks Jal “I mean, sure yer a goddess and there’s all them angels and such, but why now?”
Sofia answers that one “Although there was no official declaration except to the Church of Velya, with that and the Angels, word gets around...also the clergy of the church of Konig have been debating...me...for some times. Rumours and misinformation resulted in a large number of people deciding that Sireyi and myself either didn’t exist, or were sorcerers or demons or some sort of pretenders.”“Ok...” says Jal, looking at Sofia in confusion “So what’s that mean?”“Oh is this about the Harsgate Riot?” asks Isla, butter smeared up her cheek from a mishap with locating her mouth with a piece of toast, really, if she wouldn’t read at the table she’d make less of a mess.“Exactly” says Sofia with a smile “I’m glad someone is paying attention to currents events.”“A week ago” explains Sofia “in the Town of Harsgate, a large group of people gathered to denounce the False Saint and the Bastard Child” as an aside she says to you with a wry smile “That’s you and me. The group were being watched by the town guard and not much would have happened if one idiot hadn’t decided to whip people up into a frenzy to destroy the ‘cathedral of immorality and whores’ and lead some of the crowd towards the local chapel of Velya. The town guard stepped in to stop them and the larger crowd noticed and the town guard started getting overwhelmed – so they asked for help from the Church of Konig.”“Oh dear” comments Isla“Now the Church of Konig in Harsgate” says Sofia “Is also one of their largest training barracks, so the commanders there thought it a good idea to let partially-trained knights loose on a pack of rioters – honestly the Harsgate Riot almost became the Harsgate Massacre. Anyway, the crowd fled, 20 or so are dead and over a hundred wounded. The King has sent out his proclamation to prevent this from occurring again. The Churches are allowed to declare certain things religious crimes whilst the nobles are expected to uphold the Kings Laws.”
“So that’s it then” says Jal “All’s well that ends well – cept for them as didn’t make it?”“Ah not quite” says Sofia “there are still people willing to denounce myself and Sireyi as fakes or demons but the King is making it very clear that breaking the law is not allowed.”“There’s more letters” you say, pointing to the stack “From the Churches saying the same thing, and that the Church of Velya is officially confirming me as a Saint and Sofia as the mortal child of Konig – though nothing about Milerna.”Milerna looks up when you say her name but not seeing anything to interest her, goes back to her porridge.“So what’s it all mean?” asks Ebonsong, speaking up for the first time “And what happens now?”Talking>Explain the politics to Ebonsong>Ask Sofia to explain>OtherAction (please pick only 1)>I need to speak to Velya about this>I need to speak to the King about this>I need to speak to my angels about this>Ask family for advice on how to proceed>I need to send my own message to the nobles of the kingdom>This is a distraction; I’m too busy preparing for my trip to Hell>I have something else to do today (what?)
MetapostAs advised last thread I have used Autism Anons XP spending. There was a miscalculation and 16 extra XP was spent upon Storm powers, as I did not catch it I am hand-waving it as Sireyi consuming a small storm off-screen.As a result of taking Doctrine of Velya 2 a single new prohibited action needs to be taken from the following list, and so I put it to a player vote. These are actions that you cannot take without temporarily losing divine power.>Refuse to accept surrender>Kill a captured foe without attempting to redeem them first>Inspire despair, fear or anger; >Initiate combat>Fail to seek a peaceful solution to a conflict.Further, the majority of players wished to have player control over XP use for Sireyi’s duplicate. Sireyi’s duplicate has 210 unspent XP, feel free to say which abilities she should be getting.End Meta
>>36199706>Explain the politics to Ebonsong>This is a distraction; I’m too busy preparing for my trip to Hell>>36199709Ah damn, I missed Doctrine of Velya 2 on the XP spend list, would have been against that, all the rest prohibitions are awful. Well, if we need one,>Fail to seek a peaceful solution to a conflict. Not voting for this, but what exactly suffices for having sought a "peaceful resoluation"? At which point can we start smiting fools?
>>36199709Dopes the "kill a captured foe" mean we can still kill foes we didn't capture whithout attempting to redeem them?
>>36199790Killing foes in combat is allowed. The prohibition would be against executing captured (i.e. helpless) foes without first trying to redeem them. In other words that if you capture them you are not allowed to kill them until it becomes very clear that they will never be good.
>>36199706>Explain the politics to Ebonsong>Ask family for advice on how to proceed
>>36199809"very clear" sounds bad. But I guess we wouldn't capture those we consider irredeemable anyway.Taking tha then.>Kill a captured foe without attempting to redeem them first
>>36199709>Fail to seek a peaceful solution to a conflict. Some questions: If we have sought for peaceful with the leader of an enemy force, would we still need to seek peaceful solutions for every fight with underlings? In a larger conflict, like a war, would individual fights or encounters be considered separate conflicts, or could we attack immediately?Would it be sufficient, to seek out and contemplate peaceful solutions among ourselves, and deeming that none of the would work or be desirable? Do we need to actually attempt any peaceful solution, or involve the other party in a conflict? Thinking about the Lord of Life here.
>>36199820More importantly, the Demon Lord who has our mother, since he is probably willing to offer a "peaceful solution".
>>36199706>Explain the politics to Ebonsong>Ask family for advice on how to proceed>>36199762When I asked about it, OP said that sending a letter to the Ruler in Drache telling him to withdraw from the plane or else would've qualified as seeking a peaceful solution.Keep in mind that violating the restrictions only results in temporary loss of the Divine Energy granted by the power, not falling or loss of all Divine Energy.
>>36199835I remember that, but it would be a bit of a bother if it happens in the middle of a conflict. And if telling someone he can fuck off or die qualifies as a attempt at peaceful solution, I fear it could work the other way around too.
>>36199762>>36199820>Fail to seek a peaceful solution to a conflict. For a single encounter, selecting the *talk to them* option is normally the peaceful option and thus qualifies. For larger conflicts such as facing a tribe, or fighting in a war as long as you've tried the peaceful resolution with the most senior person you've encountered then you don't need to re-attempt with every group of minions.Note that you do not need to agree to a proposed peaceful solution, nor do you need to offer a fair one.If Salvastis offers a peaceful solution of *give me your divine spark and there won't be a fight* you can say no - you have fulfilled the requirement of seeking a peaceful solution by letting him offer terms - you don't need to accept the terms. If you offer the Lord of Life the terms of *be bound forever in sleep* (which he will almost certainly refuse) you've still tried a peaceful solution.Seeking a peaceful solution doesn't mean you can't fight, only that you try to avoid it.
>>36199849I'm bothered by this basically meaning we would have to give up our initiative. But I suppose we could always contact them with magic to offer our terms.
>>36199709>Fail to seek a peaceful solution to a conflict.>>36199706>explain the politics to Ebonsong>I need to speakto the King about thisHow long has it been since the last Saint happened?
>>36199849But we would still need to talk to them for this, right? We couldn't just have a meeting if our friends and discuss if there is any possible peaceful solution, then decide there is none?Cause I don't think we have any way to contact that dude without compromising our location or similar.
>>36199876I suppose we might be able to make mindless constructs or undead to deliver the message for us.
>>36199870Just over 200 years>>36199876You need to have some sort of dialogue with them, whether spoken or written or other form off communication.Just deciding yourself that the person won't listen to reason (even if you are clearly right) won't count.
>>36199898So would it count if we would, for example, send a mindless construct or zombie or something to deliver our terms? Something like "Put yourself back to eternal sleep if you haven't in two days we consider that a refusal"?
>>36199913It would be easier to use a Sending spell or something like to that.
>>36199922The other anon brought up the risk of him tracking our position if we use a spell, which I can't readily dismiss, it is possible. So I just want to make sure a alternative would work.
>>36199936He already knows where we live, he's planning an invasion. If you mean in Hell, we'd contact him before we go there. If you're really feeling paranoid, we could jump to another plane at random and cast Mind Blank on ourself before contacting him, which would no-sell any kind of magical tracking attempt.
>>36199913That would count, yes.Vote closed, writing.
>>36199959Doesn't really hurt us to cover our bases, it was a hypothetical not something we need to do.There is always the possibility we go into hiding at some point.
“What it all means” you say to Ebonsong “is that the ordinary people in the Kingdom – and probably nearby Kingdoms – are now aware of what I am, and what Sofia is. They will need time to adjust to this and in the meantime, there will be some people who deny it, but in the long run, people will accept it as a normal thing.”“This could have been avoided if you had just declared it openly” says Sofia “Instead of letting everyone find out piecemeal.”“The same to you” says Isla to Sofia “I mean, a new Saint is one thing, but it’s happened before, Konig – one of the four main deities of the realm - having a mortal family is much bigger news.”“Isla” says Sofia in a sweet voice “When you decided to turn yourself into a half-demon, did I run to your family and tell them? No? Then stay out of my family affairs.”Isla opens her mouth to reply, then busies herself with her food, looking down. You wonder if you should let that pass; for now, you decide to ask your family for advice.“What do you all think I should do?” you ask your family.“Hell” says Jal instantly “Get ready fer it an’ be prepped ter sneak in but don’t ferget yer might’ave ter fight yer way out.”“A plan might be a good idea” says Sofia “So you know which preparations to take, but I think talking to the King about preparations for the Necromancer King is also a wise course of action – we need to know if the Kingdom is ready to fight it, and what other nations are prepared to join us.”“The Dragons” says Ebonsong “Nico tells me they were slaves of the Lords of Life, with Ryzan gone I think you should start making allies amongst the dragons in the Tribal Lands.”“Your...double...should be able to handle that” says Sofia. Isla slams her book, hard.
“Isla?” you say “What do you think I should do?”Isla opens her mouth and closes it several times and then says “Making magical preparations for Hell, maybe...” she blushes and looks down. You’re sure there’s more she’s not saying.General>Ok I’ve decided what to do (options in next post)>We should discuss this further>Other (what?)Sofia>Sofia that was rather rude to Isla>Don’t comment on what Sofia said>Other (what?)Isla>Isla what else did you want to say?>Let Isla alone>Other (what?)

>>36200006>Ok I’ve decided what to do (options in next post)>Sofia that was rather rude to Isla>Isla what else did you want to say?
“Sofia” you say in chiding tones “That was rather rude.”“It’s two different things” ripostes Sofia “You seem perfectly happy serving Velya and you could walk away from it all any time you want – I can’t stand to speak to Konig and I don’t really have a choice – Sofia of Jalweyen is who I am!”“That’s still no reason to take it out on Isla” you say gently. Sofia squirms in her seat for a bit before nodding her head, rising, she walks around to where Isla is sat and then kneels before her “Isla, please accept my apologies, I was rude and uncouth and I let my poor relationship with Konig colour my words towards you.” She then waits for Isla to respond.“Er...” says Isla, not really sure how to respond.“Oh fer the luva’” sighs Jal “She gets all formal” she explain to Isla “Whenever she does summat wrong – just say you forgive ‘er and it’s all ok.”“Oh ok” says Isla, leaning forward to hug Sofia “all is forgiven” she says.“Now if it was a real mix-up by her Royal Divinity” says Jal with a grin “Then yer should give ‘er a kiss ter make ‘er toes curl and spend an hour or two letting ‘er make it up to yer between the bedshe-” She breaks off laughing as Sofia gives her a frosty look.As Isla blushes and Sofia resumes her seat you ask Isla “Was there something else you wanted to say?”Now it’s Isla’s turn to squirm “Your double” she says “Dark Sireyi, she’s just like you, but...evil.”“Not evil I think” you say “Just very ruthless and sometimes emotional.”“Right” says Isla, dismissing that “But otherwise like you”“I suppose” you say “Though we’ve gone in very different directions since her creation.”“Then why?” says Isla “did she only create a copy of Sofia, and not me, or Jal” she adds belatedly.
With everyone’s attention focused on her (save for Mili and Vivi who have discovered that flicking porridge at each other is a fun game) Isla continues “I mean, maybe she could only create one copy, maybe more, but she picked Sofia only. Why did she do that? Do...Do you love Sofia more?” her last words come out as a whisper and then all eyes turn to you (except the children). Why>I don’t know why she picked Sofia>She planned conquest, and Sofia has experience as a ruler>She picked Sofia because....(what?)>Other (what?)Love>I love you all equally>I love one of you more (who?)>Other (what?)Actions vote delayed until next post, for reasons.

>>36200190>>36200222This. Maybe adding that what we know of the other Sofias its very likely she talked her out of it, because she wouldn't want any Jal to experience what she has to go through currently, being ripped away from her children.
“I can't say for sure why she only copied Sofia” you say carefully “but I assume it’s because on one hand, there is already a doppelganger of you, if I were in her position, I would want to free that Isla. As for Jal,” you continue “I honestly don't know, maybe she didn't have the chance? Maybe she was less emotional at the beginning and figured it would make taking over the barony easier? Maybe she dreaded the teasing?”Jal gestures to herself with one hand “Mebbe she knew she just couldn’t handle alla me.”“Couldn’t handle the trouble” says Sofia with a snort “I’m not sure the plane is ready for two or more of you.”Jals eyes light up “More?” she says “How many of me could she make, if I asked her nicely?”“I don’t think that’s a good idea” you say, as your brain struggles with the concept of dealing with a dozen Jals.“Besides” you add “The other Sofia didn’t seem very happy with her existence, she might have talked her out of creating any more, as to the other...”You look around at your fiancées, take a deep breath and say clearly “I love you all. I cannot say if a like anyone more than anyone else, because it's more a difference of quality, then quantity. The bond I share with each of you is unique, so I cannot compare them to each other.”Isla smiles and looks down, satisfied, Sofia nods to herself as if it confirms something and Jal claps saying “lovely speech ‘bout love, love.”Ebonsong watches all of this with wide eyes as the children continue to flick porridge at each other with a lot of giggling.
You cough and clear your throat “Thank you for your advice” you say to your family.“Welcome” chimes in Vivi, before going back to his porridge. As Jal smiles indulgently at her son you say “I’ve decided what I need to do next.”Please pick only 1>I need to make a plan for the attack on Hell>I need to speak to the King>I need to speak to Velya>I need to send my own message to the nobles of the kingdom>The other Sireyi and Sofia would benefit from seeing the children, what do you think?>I am going to do something else (what?)

“Since you mention my double and the other Sofia” you say “it might make sense to include them in our plans, and even if they don’t want to help then I’m sure they’d want to see Mili and Vivi instead.”“That sounds like an excellent idea” says Sofia as you finish breakfast and servants come in to clear the table.“Yeah” says Jal, wiping Vivi’s face with a cloth “If they want little mucky here, they can take ‘im.”You leave the room and concentrate on the link between the two of you until your double answers “What?” she says in an irritated tone.“I was wondering” you say “If you would like to visit today, we have a lot to discuss.”“I’m busy” she says “we’re getting ready to invite another tribe to join us.”“It would only be for a few hours” you say “and” you use your secret weapon “I’m sure Mili and Vivi would love to see both of you.”There’s a pause and then she says “I’ll ask Sofia.”As you return to your family who have moved to one of the keeps meeting rooms you see Vivi and Mili opening a wooden chest that contains a number of toys and books.A few minutes later your double tells you “We’re on our way.”A few minutes after that one of your servants fetches you to the front gate to let your double and the other Sofia in. Your sister looks just like you – an illusion, no doubt to put everyone at ease. Sofia is dressed in black polished armour, but a lighter suit than you’ve seen her in before, a travel set perhaps. As you lead them into the room your family eye them warily as they stare back, no one speaks. The conflict is averted by Vivi walking up to your double with his favourite book held tightly in his hands and looks up at her and says “Story?” hopefully.“Ah, yes, of course” your double says, letting Vivi lead her by the hand to a wide chair and telling her to sit down, then climbing into her lap and giving her the book.
The other Sofia watches this with a look combining amusement, shock and jealousy before turning to you and saying “Ok, as kind as you are, I can’t help but feel like you have another motive.”“I do” you admit, as your family splits their attention watching the two...guests.“I’m thinking about when I go to rescue my mother” you explain “I think it best if you both have a chance to discuss in broad terms, how I’m going to do this.”“Alright” says the other Sofia, taking a seat as servants bring you drinks. “What did you have in mind?”“I’ve got several options” you say “Though I’d need to find out more about Salvastis realm and Hell in general before picking them.”The other Sofia motions you to continue. Mili takes the opportunity to climb into the other Sofia’s lap, curl up and go to sleep, as Sofia hugs her, tears in her eyes.“A quick raid upon his stronghold – or wherever my mother is could work” you say “A protracted assault would be too costly but a quick attack would keep losses to a minimum.”“A good option” comments other Sofia “quick and decisive.”“Or stealth” you continue “I sneak in and free my mother, and sneak out.”“A better option” says Jal, breaking off from staring at the other Sofia, adding “no one ‘as ter get hurt an’ it’s got a better chance.”“But takes longer” says your own Sofia “And if it fails it alerts him. Besides, that will limit who you can take.”“Which are you going to do Sis?” asks Ebonsong.>Either could work>Raid>Stealth>Other (what?)This is not the final choice, this is discussing options.>>36200584Do I even want to know?

“It depends” you say to Ebonsong “Where his army is – if it is at his stronghold then a raid is out of the question and it has to be stealth.”“I would prefer” you say “To go in using stealth but have a strong force ready to attack and rescue us if things go wrong.”“You’d need some way of killing a demon lord quickly and reliably” says Isla “Because you’ll probably meet him there.”“How about a Death of Cities?” asks your Sofia.“Too big” counters other Sofia “Too hard to move – it got overrun by demons once.”“Maybe you could use an airship again?” suggests Ebonsong “Like the last time you got rid of a demon lord.”“Maybe” you say, an idea forming in your head “But moving those things between planes is hard....”“A planeshifting airship with a Death of Cities mounted on it?” says Isla, aghast “That’s going to upset....everyone.”“It is a very big stick” says Jal “Tells everyone not ter mess with yer.”Isla shakes her head “you might as well declare war with all of Hell, it’s a bad idea.”“On the other hand” you say “with my powers I could *probably* kill Salvastis, but I don’t know how long it would take.”“So who would command the ship?” asks the other Sofia “And where are you going to get an airship?”“Make one maybe” says Isla “I mean, we have over a year, it can be done.”“Half-in – er, I mean *borrow* the Kings” says Jal “an’ it’s not like yer can use them nodes fer anything else.”“If only you could attune to all of them” says Isla “You could command air, earth, water and fire on a massive scale, not just storms, unfortunately it’s risky and probably impossible to do so.” Maybe not with your deific powers....

>>36201210Its the "kill-shit" superweapon we used to nuke the ruler back in Drache. It can only fire in a straight line though, and needs most of our nodes, and is hard to move.
>>36201163>>36201211this.Would also add.>We can start building a airship, but we won't use it. It can give our enemies a false impression of our timetable if he spies on us, it wouldn't be that useful in hell, but it might become useful against the Lord of Life.
>>36201218Not to mention it would eat a large part of our resources in mages and money to build it. Together with the airship, thats a lot of money we could put into more magic items instead.
>>36201163Why is building an Airship even an option? They're so expensive, it would take us two years worth of income to make just one, even more if we want flight-capable soldiers manning it.>>36201211Having our allies attune nodes would be risky. None of them can outdo Sireyi when it comes to Willpower (the relevant stat for attuning) and failure means death or worse.
>>36201308Over the longterm, I would make one. Not for the next year or so, but over three or four years it would be useful. As to the nodes, I was specifically thinking of the other Sireyi, since she is the only one who could handle it.
>>36201326Or fail her willpower roll and die and blame it all on some overly caring goddess. We can spend DPs on it, she can't but I'm not opposed to bringing it up.
>>36201326Yeah, but it's not terribly relevant given the timeframe we're working with for marching into Hell, so I don't see why it's an option in this situation. We could have our double attune a node, though I'd prefer if we only have her attune one of them, two max.Ebonsong or Isla might be able to handle one, they both have a Willpower of 28, which is pretty good.>>36201389We kinda need those DP for Hell.
>>36201395I think Isla got enough trouble with the books in her head at the moment.Ebonsong, might work, how hard was the DC again? If I remember right 28 is more than we had back then.
>>36201408I don't think the nodes do any kind of mental fuckery, but the book's after-effects might screw with the attunement process, so we should probably err on the side of caution.DC was vague, but fairly high. It took several failures before death and several successes before attunement.28 is a lot higher than our modifier was back then, but we had the benefit of having an affinity for the node we were attempting to attune.Of course, as a black dragon, Ebonsong would have an affinity for the water node.
>>36201163>Ask Isla about HellIf it's all fire we should think about the fire node.
>>36201073It's so the clones don't have to feel so alone and extraneous anymore.
“I’ll admit” you say to Isla “I don’t know much about Hell itself, other than it being where demons come from: what should we expect once we’re there?”Isla looks pensive “Hell is” she says hesitantly “Hell is a harsh place, there is life there, but a lot of it is toxic to anyone who is not a demon, it’s very much a kill or be-killed place. There’re plants and animals, and most of them will try to kill you. There’re demons of course, most of them live in the cities of Hell, under a demon lord. Most layers of Hell are either united under an all-powerful Duke of Hell, or are fractured warring city-states, each ruled by a demon lord.”She continues “outside of the cities are vast wastelands and wilderness: feral demons and other things live there – like the wanderers.”“The wanderers?” you ask.“Demons too independent or unruly to serve a lord” says Isla “Shahulzer grew up in a place like that; also the succubi clans typically live in the wilderness.”“Why?” asks Sofia “Sounds like they’d prefer the cities.”“On our plane yes” says Isla “lots of people for them to ah...manipulate. But in Hell they are often prey for other demons. Theories differ as to why, but the popular theory is that as the most human-looking of demons the others see them as natural prey.”“So if we were in the wilderness” you say “There’s little chance of meeting anyone loyal to Salvastis?”“A hunting or scouting party perhaps” says Isla “Other than that, no.”“Thank you” you say to Isla, rising “I’ll be back in a few minutes.”You leave and go to another room to pray to Velya, she answers immediately “You can talk to me any time” she says, amusement in her tone “You don’t need privacy to pray.”“Old habit” you say, adding “what can you tell me about Salvastis’ realm? And about him?”
>>36201550By ending their independent existence?
“His realm” says your Goddess “Is a blasted and empty landscape, some planes of Hell are bursting with life. His was once a more fertile land but repeated attacks by other lords have forced him to turn areas of it into wastelands to deny them food and supplies – his more fertile lands are towards the centre.”“His stronghold is built into a mountain and looks out over a vast fertile plain, with a large wasteland behind the mountain. His army is scattered throughout his realm and is in the process of picking it clean of anything valuable in preparation for the attack.”“Sounds like he’s destroying his own plane” you say.“In a fashion he is” agrees your Goddess “If he becomes a God he can rejuvenate his plane using his new powers, and if a rival takes it in the mean time they will have an empty and hollow place where there army starves.”“Do demons even need to eat?” you ask, that’s always bothered you.“For sustenance?” says Velya “A few types of demon do, but most do not. However demons get bored quickly, a demon army needs a supply of fresh victims to torment and eat regularly – for they enjoy eating, even though they don’t need to. A bored demon army starts using its weaker members as sustenance and eventually turns on itself. Even a demon lord has difficulty holding an army together in that state.”“So his stronghold is unguarded?” you ask hopefully“He will have a garrison” says Velya “in case of surprise attack, numbering in the hundreds most likely – his elite forces. Your angels could defeat them in open battle, but reinforcements would arrive within minutes if angels attacked. The demons might not think to call for help if facing a small group of mortals though.”“And Salvastis himself” you say “What can you tell me about him?”
“Salvastis is a skilled warrior” says Velya “And an excellent tactician, but he is cowardly and prefers fights he knows he will win – against a superior foe he prefers to wear them down with hit-and-run attacks, traps and using the environment.”“Thank you My Lady” you say “you have been most helpful.”“Any time my Saint” responds Velya “You should know something else about Hell. Mortals who die there are doomed to remain there.”“What? Why?” you ask. You don’t want to consign your allies to that!“Hell is a prison for souls” says Velya “Those who make bargains with demons rarely consider the consequences, and there are always souls in Hell waiting to be processed that attempt escape – as a result all of Hell is blanketed with magic to trap souls – whether they belong there or not.”“I don’t plan on anyone dying on this mission” you say “But I see your point – what can I do about it?”“Your own Sanctuary will be safe” says Velya “and the traps take a few minutes to activate – if you could get to the body of a deceased ally in that time you might be able to store their soul for future resurrection. If you had enough power you could make your own Heaven to recover souls into but given the time that might not be possible. Hell has always been a home to suffering, for mortals and demons alike.”>Thank you (ends conversation)>Ask Velya a question (what?)>What demons suffer in Hell?>Other

>>36201571>Thank you (ends conversation)Looks like we need to make at least one or two of those portable sanctuaries.

>>36201718Making a dozen or so amulets with an imbued Sanctuary effect and the ability to hide their Divine-typed power would be quicker.
“What demons suffer in Hell?” you ask “I mean, that’s where they live.”“The succubi” says Velya “As the most human-looking of demons and often the physically weakest they are prey for other demons, particularly the crèches.”“The crèches?” you ask.“Most demons” explains your Goddess “Arise in Hell from spawning pools – accretions of Hellish energy that can be found across the plane – often fed by mortal souls. The newly-emerged demons are weak – nearly helpless by hells standards and wise demon lords post guards on such places to ensure that enough survive their infancy to swell the ranks of their armies. Succubi however reproduce in a more mortal fashion – giving birth to babies that are cared for by their entire group and take years to mature.”“Whilst demon lords need some Succubi” continues Velya “The numbers of these demons exceed the demand for them – Succubi live in the wilderness to escape being tortured and eaten by the others, young Succubi are seen as a delicacy by demons and are often served live at banquets.”There’s a pause before you reply “Are you telling me” you say “to rescue the Succubi of Salvastis realm?”“I’m not ordering you” says Velya “I’m warning you of what you might encounter, you can try to help them, or you must harden your heart to the horrors you might encounter.”“Thank you for your time My Lady” you say, returning to your family and your double. You have a lot to think about.>I’m not ready to make a final plan yet>I’m ready to make a final plan and pick who goesNot ready yet is more discussion; picking a plan is voting on the options and then deciding what preparations to make.
>>36201735And more subtle. The ability to greatly suppress demonic spells on a big scale would be useful, though. The radius is big enough to trap the demonlord within, and I wouldn't want him to just teleport away.
>>36201763If we get 20 Paladin/General XP before going to Hell, then we'll get Sanctuary 4, but I don't think that's going to happen.
>>36201758>I’m ready to make a final plan and pick who goesNo sense in keeping it off any longer. We need some Sanctuary items, no airship nor FFDoC, and we should convince the other Sireyi to accompany us.
>>36201789Can't we spend 2DP on it to get 20xp? Not saying we should, but its a option.
>>36201811Spending Deific Power can only grant Angelic XP, which can't be spent on Paladin powers.
>>36201825I forgot about that, so making a bunch of magic tiems is proabbly the best option then. So, who should we take?Sireyi, OtherSireyi, Ebonsong, Jal for the infiltration? and the two Sofias lead Shahulzer, Philly, Isla and whoever else we decide in the extraction team? Or should we take the Sofias with us? Their somewhat divine nature could be a problem though.
I'd wished the people that discuss here would bother voting more often.

>>36201758>I’m not ready to make a final plan yetWe should probably figure out the timeframe on those Sanctuary amulets and whether it's even possible for them to suppress themselves first. Also figuring out who would be best suited for which team and convincing our doppelganger.
>>36201758>>36201904Ah sorry I picked the wrong option in my haste wanted...>>36201931Nevermind then?
>>36201938It's ok anon, I would have picked that one.
>>36201851Their divine nature would only be a problem in that using their powers would give us away.If they're on the extraction team, that isn't so much of a problem, as their divine presence will be overshadowed by Sireyi turning into a house-sized angelic dragon, which we would do if the extraction team is necessary. Most of the people on that team have some measure of divine power and/or an angelic nature.
>>36201996Then we would have had a tie again...But its alright, we were going to do the same things anyway.
>>36202018>If they're on the extraction team, that isn't so much of a problemThats what I figured, thats why I put them on the extraction team, the comment of their divine nature was in relation to the possibility of taking them with us on the inflitration team.

“I’m not ready to pick groups yet” you say “I need to think more”“What we do need to talk about” you say “Is possibly attuning the Elemental Nodes – their power could be invaluable.”“Aren’t they very dangerous” says your Sofia “If I remember you had trouble controlling one with similar powers to yours.”“I’m stronger now” you say “I think it would be much easier for me, and” you add “others might be able to do it, it just takes magic, and a lot of willpower – Isla, Ebonsong, or Sireyi could do it” you look at your double.“You’d trust me with them?” she says suspiciously“Maybe not all of them” you say, with a smile to take the sting out of your words “but one or two maybe.”“Nodes are all well and good” says the other Sofia “But how are you going to end Salvastis?”“I can do it myself” you say “But other than that...”“Didn’t paladins of Konig kill the Sorcerer” says Ebonsong “couldn’t any Paladin kill a demon lord?”“In theory” says Isla “But the Sorcerer was very weak from his imprisonment in magical fire. Demon Lords main protection is their sheer power – a Paladin can’t kill one any more than a pickaxe can split a mountain.”“Might depend on the pickaxe” you say musingly “There’s takes of individual paladins slaying powerful demons, maybe the right weapon, made of celestial iron...”“The angels could” suggests Jal “as a last resort, like.”“Maybe” agrees other Sofia “I’d like to see what weapon she can conjure up though.”“Ok” says your double “Nodes and Salvastis taken care of – what if someone dies?”“Sanctuaries” you say “tied into items people can carry.”“Too obvious” argues Isla “Demons will attack them because they block them from coming close, and if they succeed the person they attack has no protection, a gem to store the soul would be better.”“Why not both?” ask both Sofia’s together, then look at each other shocked, and look away.
With that out of the way...“Velya also told me about how succubi live in Hell generally” you say, telling everyone what your Goddess told you.Isla speaks first “Sireyi I know we’re doing this to help your mother, but is there no way we can help them as well?”“It would comprise our goal” says your Sofia, even as the other Sofia agrees, saying “Indeed, as much as Succubi may look human, they are demons – no offence” she adds to your double.“None taken” she says, rocking Vivi absentmindedly “Besides, even if you did, where would they go?”“What?” says Jal “Am I really ‘earning this?” to you she says “look, love, Angel, in Drache Elves are all slaves, you wanna know ow many times I’ve ‘eard *they ain’t like us so them suffering is ok*? I can believe any of yer are saying we shouldn’t ‘elp them!” She gives the Sofia’s a venomous look.“It’s not about not caring” says Ebonsong to Jal “It’s about practicality – Salvastis realm could have hundreds, even thousands of Succubi – where are they going to live?”“Here!” says Jal “Or in Drache, or the Tribal Lands, anywhere but a place that uses them as food!”“And how long will it take to rescue them all?” asks your Sofia “Will we lose Sireyi’s mother for them? Or our own lives?”Jal twists up her face in thought and then turns to you ‘Ow ‘bout just rescuing those we see” she says “Those that want to come o’ course?”

>>36203023Personally, I associate Water more with learning/magic, but Ebonsong has an actual affinity for that node.Earth is just raw earth, it doesn't govern the things living upon it, that's the wood/life node. It's less 'hearth' and more 'boulder'.I felt like Air would compliment Storms more than Earth.
>>36203039I'm not a fan of giving her any more mind-contacing cosmical phenomenal power. But unless we want to give Air to Ebby, it would bethe only sensible option if we want to assign all of them. Sadly Jals willpower is too low.We migh risk Earth for one of the Sofias.
>>36203083>Personally, I associate Water more with learning/magicFunny thing about associations, I guess. To be fair, if Ebby wouldn't be such a good fit, I would have considered water for Isla too.But in this case, since we have storm to govern the wild aspects of air, it seems fitting to me.I think Air and Storm would be just too much of a overlap, might even clash depending on how it works.I can see your point about earth, but as I said, it was a on the spot compromise, I think it still makes sense. Optimally I would favor Earth for Jal, since she is always the "grounded" one, if you excuse the pun.

You wonder if she’s in danger of choking, then you see both Sofia’s rolling their eyes in almost identical fashion – seems Jal just found something funny is all, maybe she’ll explain the joke when she’s calmed down.“As for the Succubi” you say “We’ll save any we can and get them out of Hell...where I don’t know yet, but maybe some will be willing to become Angels, at Isla’s look you say “That’s the best we can do for now, maybe later we can find some way to rescue more of them.” Isla looks unhappy at that but nods.“So what now?” asks the other Sofia “are you ready to pick who goes to Hell?”>Yes>Not Yet (more discussion, assigning Nodes)You will get a chance to assign nodes later as well.

>>36203400>Yes>Isla gets the air nodeI think we all made that compromise?Earth will stay in limbo for now. Unless we can agree on Sireyi attuning to it for now.I think we all agreed on that? And while we are at contentious power assigment. What about that necromancy tome? That could come very useful in hell for Sireyi to have.
>>36203400>Not Yet (more discussion, assigning Nodes, keep mentioning giving wood to other sireyi)
>>36203443I'd like it the other way around, but let's just vote on that later. After we have seen what benefits the others get from their nodes.Do the nodes even have enough power to be useful? I do not recall us ever recharging them.
>>36203443Sireyi can take Earth.Tomes are still an incredibly stupid idea, seriously, stop with this shit.
the archive synopsis better read Sireyi gives other Sireyi Wood.
>>36203501Archives are created as soon as the OP post goes up, so no.It's not even that funny.

>>36203715I'm pretty sure thats nothing a ancient tome of necromantic knowledge transfer can't fix.
“Yes” you say “Two groups sounds good, infiltration team and rescue/raid team. The numbers on the raid team should be kept low.”On the infiltration team I want>Who?And I’m limiting team size to>NumberOn the rescue team I want>Who?By default Sireyi will be on the infiltration team unless players choose otherwise. Available options for both teams are any/all allies as well as angels, soldiers etc – you could even ask Ellahi to come with you if you wanted.Team size refers to infiltration team only. Please pick a number for this – number indicates number of companions ONLY (does not include Sireyi) so a number of 3 means 3 allies plus Sireyi. Most popular team size wins, team members will be picked based upon highest number of votes. This sets the teams, though if things change a re-vote will be called for.Feel free to ask questions. If you want me to answer some of these questions about Mili and Vivi I can.
>>36203727You mean the tome made by the things that work with Arcane, not Divine, energy and are incredibly powerful mages?
>>36203660It might be none of them. Her next batch will be tripplings, it could refer to those three. He only assumed it meant Milerna and Viviken because they are her children right now, but he might simply be wrong about that.
>>36203731>The numbers on the raid team should be kept low.I thought it was the Infiltration team that was supposed to have a low number?

>>36203731do the books cause san loss or have other side effects?
>>36203815Yes, they do, this has already been confirmed.Have you not read the archives.
>>36203800Yes, typo, sorry.Infiltration team low.Raid/Rescue team as big as you want
>>36203815We already know they have side-effects.Its not directly san loss, but the repercussions of massive knowledge getting pushed into your brain can do a number on your mind. Its nothing fatal or irrevocable, it might be even easier on kids.
>>36203731So, could Mili use the knowledge in the tome if she reads it?For curiosity.
>>36203843>Its not directly san lossI'd call the occasional bouts of homicidal insanity a symptom of san loss.>Its nothing fatal or irrevocableMight be fatal in some cases, there's no way to reverse it that we know of.>it might be even easier on kids.Or it could snap their minds like twigs, this isn't something we can play around with.
>>36203804I like that Infiltration team.
>>36203820it's been a while but yes.
>>36203815Mostly as >>36203843 said it's the effect of lots of knowledge being dumped into your head.It can amplify existing personality quirks (Isla was knowledge hungry before she read the Tome, it's a lot stronger now) and tends to make the reader use the knowledge of the Tome as a solution to all problems (Isla much prefers magical solutions to non-magical ones now).>>36203872In theory, yes. Who knows whether being a child makes it more dangerous or less.
>>36203893>this isn't something we can play around with.True, those books are one use only.OK. I also don't want to harm the kids.
>>36203937>Who knows whether being a child makes it more dangerous or less.Yyyeah, not gambling with our kid's brain.
>>36203893Isla didn't really loose "sanity" per se. But its more a matter of semantics I guess, the important part is that it does have negative influence on the mind. And I meant irrevocable in the sense that the negative effects can't be overcome. Isla seems to be in decent shape now, of course we can't really 'know'.>Or it could snap their minds like twigs, this isn't something we can play around with.Oh yeah, that definitly might happen too. But then I think Pally would rather do something interesting with it, than something tragic. And having to deal with her necromantic prodigy child, and the ensuing fallout of having one, both in dealing with the childs own use of it and peoples reaction, would be very interesting.
>>36203731>>36203804I can agree to that.As for the necromancy tome/child topic. It would have been a amazing twist if it wouldn't have come up. Now, well, if it happens and the outcome isn't our child getting mindwiped or something, I doubt people would be mad at it. But I also doubt people would take the risk of voting "read the book" if it comes up, unless its like, the opening post when there is only two or three voters around.
>>36203962>And having to deal with her necromantic prodigy child, and the ensuing fallout of having one, both in dealing with the childs own use of it and peoples reaction, would be very interesting.Necromancy isn't despised in this kingdom, just regulated, it would be a simple matter to get her a license.I'd very much prefer if you didn't vote to possibly fry out kid's brain because you think it might be 'interesting'. Nothing I hate more in a quest than that line of reasoning.
>>36203937Hmm...since they are young and don't really have any big flaw yet, I think it's safer to let them read and then direct their growth. They have talent for magic. Reading a tome early on would make them great geniuses.
>>36204043Or it could kill them, mindwipe them or leave them vegetables.
I somehow feel we have far far far too few people for a heavy handed extraction. There is, after all, an army big enough to invade our realm there.
>>36204057Hahahahahaha.No. Do you even read the quest? Pally isn't one for such cheap drama. He also has stated he wants the players to win before.
>>36204028>Necromancy isn't despised in this kingdomIt definitly is seen with a lot of suspicion, so it wouldn't just be a matter of getting them a license. Imagine what the Church of Konig would say. But I can understand what you mean, yeah its a gamble you shouldn't make. But as >>36204014If it happens and works out the "necormancy prodigy way" with all the issues of a child having such powers, it would be great, but only very few would actually vote to read the book. I think. I've been surprised before.
>>36204076So we're using meta-knowledge of how the QM behaves as a justification now?
>>36204089Its a meta discussion, so obviously yes.And if you vote against it, it will be most likely for meta reasons too, since Mili and Vivi wouldn't know the tome can fry their brains if they take a peak into the interesting book. Especially Vivi, you know, loves story books.
>>36204076How would the kids get to the books? angels are watching the kids and books are locked away.
>>36204109I think we're both forgetting that the tome takes three weeks to read, even when speed-reading.
>>36204124I did forget that. thanks for the reminder anon!
>>36204124I assumed in the event that they get their hands on it, since >>36204121 is right, its not likely, but it might happen. Then its very possible they get drawn in by the book and keep reading, maybe hide it away, kids do that kind of stuff. Not even in three weeks. Give it a few months.
>>36204153Pretty sure Sireyi would notice the tome being missing in that time and try to find the 'thief'.She has Discern Location, it would take seconds for her to find the tome.
>>36204153don't forget the 2 angles watching the kids as well. it would probably take longer and even then they will likly be found out before finishing.
>>36204175I don't know. It depends on how its locked away. Very possible its just put somewhere she thinks is safe, and isn't checking up on it. Why would she?We haven't decided on any precautions for locking the book away, and this all was on the original premise that it might happen off-screen one day, so if the narrative wants it to happen it wouldn't be implausible to play out like that. Sireyi isn't as cautious with her magic stuff of doom as she should be.
This entire discussion has gotten me paranoid about how lax our security around the dangerous tomes of knowledge is.
>>36204211I don't think the angels watch them 24/7. They probably don't stand in their room while they sleep. Or should be sleeping.
>>36204226We should probably work on fixing the security measures for our various artifacts of ultimate power sometime soon.
>>36204244....Pretty sure they do. other wise they could be kidnapped while asleep.
>>36204244Yeah, but they probably search their rooms on a daily basis for assassins and things like that, wouldn't be out of the question that they'd find the book.Kids aren't very good at hiding things.
>>36204251 Only to realise the books are missing and finding it under Vivis/Milis pillow? Ok I stop, its not something that needs to be discussed anyway. But it would be interesting. I'm just saying.
>>36204281>Kids aren't very good at hiding things.Adults are sometimes really bad at finding things too. They don't search for stuff the kids could have hidden afterall. >>36204279I figured they stand outside and have all sorts of alarm spells. But it is a good point, then again, they don't have much reason to check what book the kid is reading there, unless it radiates evil or something, and I'm pretty sure they don't.TenStillEvilSireyi could just walk in there and stzart reading stories to our kids too. And we already had angel guards then.
With me” you say “will be you” you point to your duplicate “Ebonsong and Jal”“Standing by for rescue will be both Sofia’s, Shahulzer, Matthias, Jianxi and Isla.”Jal and Ebonsong just nod, everyone else objects, though quietly, in case they wake the children.“What makes you think I’m going with you?” says your double, folding her armsBoth Sofia’s wear identically stubborn expressions “I’m going with you” they both say, then they turn to stare at each other “no you’re not” they both say “I am”.“You need me with you” pleads Isla “there could be magic, and magical traps, no one else is an expert on Hell, please take me.”>Convince everyone this is for the best>Ok, I’ll reconsider (new vote)Nice discussion about the kids, filing it under potential plot-hooks.
>>36204352>Adults are sometimes really bad at finding things too. They don't search for stuff the kids could have hidden afterall.Regular adults aren't Angelic bodyguards searching for any kind of enemy or potentially-hostile magic in the kid's room on a daily basis and regular things that kids hide don't register as magical.
>>36204368>Ok, I’ll reconsiderReplace Ebby with Isla. after all our link with ebby will be useful to let the others know we need help.
>>36204368>Both Sofia’sPlease stop doing that.>Convince the Sofias to stay (they are more direct fighters and less sneaky fighters)>Take IslaI don't mind Doublery going wherever she pleases.
>>36204368>Convince everyone this is for the best>To the Sofias: We can't use divine magic while infiltrating. Both of us, Jal and Ebonsong have non-divine abilities we can make full use of. And we need someone, and even better two, with a head for military startegie to coordinate that break in, no one can do that as well as you can.>To Isla: We need someone with potent arcane magic on the outside in case it is needed, we don't have that many sorceress besides me and Sireyi. But if you really don't want to be part of her rescue. you can stay. I can't force you.
>>36204442Thats what we use the nodes for, actually. And Ebby just can't support the outside team with the kind of magic Isla has. We already have two potent mages in the infiltration team, and none in the assault team, which will need them to open gates.
>>36204465>And Ebonsong, while very competent, has not yet as much magical power as you do, she couldn't replace you in that position. Might want to change that part, I think Ebonsong actually has equivalent Willpower and significantly more Arcane Energy at this point.Maybe something about Ebonsong lacking breadth of knowledge in relation to arcane spells.
>>36204368>>36204465this.Although I really hope she comes with us. Because, we would be a lot worse off without her.
>>36204495Ooooooooooooh. Oh. Well I feel kind of silly now.>>36204368Changing my vote from >>36204442 to backing >>36204465
>>36204519She can't use as high level spells as Isla can, is what I meant. But it might be unfortunately worded for that.Maybe>Ebeonsong, while very powerful, doesn't have your experience and knowledge yet to support the assault team with the breadth of spells you have and they can need.
>>36204368>To Sireyi: because I think you want us to get along as much as I do, why else would you be keeping my borders so safe?
>>36204368>>36204465under the assumption that we figure out how the node-communication works, I actually forgot that was a thing, backing this.We would have toi figure out who leads the realm in the meantime. In case it takes longer.

And we need someone, and even better two, with a head for military strategy to coordinate that break in, no one can do that as well as you can.”They don’t look happy about that but Sofia nods and says “Ok, but you owe me for this.” The other Sofia opens her mouth at the same time but pauses, waits for the other to speak and then says “Right” afterwards. You turn to Isla “We need someone with versatile arcane magic on the outside in case it is needed, we don't have that many sorceress’ besides me and Sireyi. And Ebonsong, while very competent, doesn’t have the knowledge you do - she couldn't replace you in that position.”Isla just whispers “Just come back to me, ok?” You turn to your double, no, your sister “She is mother to both of us; but if you really don't want to be part of her rescue, you can stay - I can't force you.”She scowls at you and then says “ok, fine, silver-tongued little-fine, alright, I’m going, but don’t expect me to jump when you say so.”“I won’t ask you to” you say.“Now that’s decided” says Jal, apparently recovered from her fit of the giggles “What’s next?”>Next is Hell (final prep begins, routelock)>I have other things I want to do first (what?)

“Next” you say “We’re going to Hell, but first we have a few preparations to make....”----I’m ending the year there, Autism Anon please post realm expenditure’s if you have it ready – if not then next thread is fine.Sireyi has just under a year and a half before Salvastis is ready to invade, or to put it another way, 75 weeks to craft items. There are no scheduled events in this time – you actually have a peaceful year for once.Making an item with Sanctuary can be an Other item or Armour. It takes 4 weeks per Rank in Sanctuary the item is to have, as well as 4 weeks per peripheral added. Making it out of Celestial Iron will increase the DC of rolls to enter the sanctuary, as well as the penalties to cast spells into it.Isla will be able to create one Soul-storing gem per week – or she can help Sireyi – reducing crafting times by ¼.Please feel free to pick any other activities including socialising you want to happen – these will happen next thread, and then you go to Hell.Yes, I’m aware I’m pushing things forward, but I want Hell finished before the end of December.
You are Syderis, and you’ve been locked in a box of hellbrass for...too long, you can’t remember how long. In here, your powers are suppressed and you can’t even create light, you’ve been in the darkness for so long, you wonder if you have gone blind. Your box is 10ft by 10ft by 10ft – you have enough room to move, but not much else. A mortal would have gone mad with the isolation, but as an angel all you’ve felt is boredom – you’ve been making up songs in your isolation – you’ve made over 1,000 so far.You hear noises, and then the door is opened and harsh green light floods in, your eyes instantly adjust. Before you, in red and black armour, stands Duke Salvastis; you’ve not seen him in over 2 years. You stand, refusing to let the demon lord tower over you – at 7 and a half feet tall, you are taller than he.“Ah good” you say “The entertainment is here – I hope you have learnt some better dances since last time.”He gives you a feral grin “I’m here to inform you” he says “that I will no longer be trying to cajole, torture or trick you into giving me your divine spark – because I now know that you don’t have it, your daughter does.”Pain lances through you, but you refuse to show him any of it. You feel your heart hammering in your chest, Sireyi! You remember holding her in your arms as a helpless babe. She’s not ready, how long has it been, will she be 9, perhaps 10 years old? That’s young for a half-angel, she’ll be helpless against him!“Which of your incompetent spies told you that?” you say, affecting a bored tone “You should have him whipped – he’s clearly lying to you.”The Duke chuckles, a rough, sinister sound “Official proclamation from the King actually” he says, and lifts up a black helmet “now, put this on.”
>>36205452Thanks for running Pally. You're the best! AROUND! NOTHING EVER GONNA KEEP YOU DOWN!Also
>>36205452>realm expenditure’s if you have it readySeriously, what is it with you and ’ ?
“What is it?” you ask, making no move to take it from him.“The mortals” say the Duke “have invented an interesting item – called a Helm of Opposite Morality. Too weak to work on you, we made a few improvements, in short you’re going to help me take the divine spark from your daughter.”“I doubt that” you say.“Really?” he says “A spark can be harvested from her corpse, but it will be weaker, if you help me take it from her I swear on my name I will not kill her. Of course, I can’t really trust you, so either you put on the helmet, or I simply use you as bait and kill your daughter.”>Fine! (put on the helmet)>No

>>36205452We are going to craft like, hell.So we have, six pople on the assault team. We don't need that high-level sanctuary. So 48 weeks for item crafting. Lets say 56 for a spare the infiltration team can take. All from celestial iron of course. Once Isla is finished with her souls stones after 10 weeks, she can help, reducing the remaining 46 to 35 1/2 weeks. So we can craft more tiems in the rest of those, because we seriously need serious bling on our assault team and Jal and Ebonsong.>>36205523>No

Feel free to ask any questions (Metagame of course) about the risks and implications of this.My own plan is that Mili grows up with paladin powers and Vivi with sorcery. Both have angelic abilities. Mili has the potential to learn arcane magic, but her arcane powers are weaker than Vivi. Although they don’t have clear personalities yet, I plan on having Vivi be more studious and book-smart and Mili be more physically active and athletic and tactical.Still, I always consider player requests: is Loli Necromancer something you want?
>>36205772Okay, so if >>36205615is correct. We have 65 weeks for item making?>Teleport Stones (4 weeks)>Celestial Iron armour 6x (stoneskin 3) (36weeks)Thats 6 DR against demons. For Sofia, Sofia, Matthias, Jianxi, Jal and if we can fit her one Isla.>celestial weapon of smiting 2x(+4) (4 weeks)For Jianxi. The Sofias have their own means.>CWoS 2x(+6) (6 weeks)15 weeks left after that. How many hats of disguise have we floating around?
>>36206108>Do people really want the option of MIli (or Vivi) to read the Tome of Necromancy?I still think if the option comes up, people will not vote for it out of fear, unreasonable but understandable, that you make something bad happen to them for it. I personally, would love for that to happen, since it would be a great plothook for interaction with the children.
>>36206108>is Loli Necromancer something you want? No, not really. Not to step on others people's fun though, I just don't want her to read the book. but she could learn it other ways. or just be really naturally good at it I guess.
>>36206108>Do people really want the option of MIli (or Vivi) to read the Tome of Necromancy?I have to ask, if this happens, would it result in necromancer kid? Or would it result in brain fried kid? Thats, I think the important question. I would like necromancer kid(if loli or shota I care not, though muscle necromancer sounds awesome).
>>36206097I'm not planning on (perma)killing anyone - though Hell is a perfect setting for heroic sacrifice or horrible heart-wrenching loss. With the powers you and your allies have only destruction of the soul is a way ti finally kill someone. So you might get some (reversible) party deaths, but the only way for final deaths is if someone gets killed, and the soulgem is crushed and you don't get an active sanctuary on them quickly. However, fail to do that and yes, your allies can die.
>>36206108Would reading the book permanently warp the childs mind, or is it something that can have influence, but we could work against or with through careful parentage?
>>36206108>Do people really want the option of MIli (or Vivi) to read the Tome of Necromancy?Definitely not in the way that other anon seemed to want it. Those books are bad news, even if they don't fry the kid's brain.
>>36206108>>36206215To clarify, I don't expect it to have only positive effects, its a challenge, but the question is, would it be a challenge, or a sacrifice?I would be okay with that happening, though I can understand other anons concerns. The common fear seems to be that it would truly warp their mind, instead of just influencing them.
>>36206186oh sorry for the misunderstanding pally, I was joking when i said that. like you are literally GRRM and this whole quest has just been leading up to getting to hell so he can kill everyone.
>>36206221>Definitely not in the way that other anon seemed to want it.Could you clarify what you think we want? Because I'm not sure we have the same idea here. No one wants one of the kids to turn into a evil necromancer. I find one of them getting enormous power of dubious nature and learn to deal with that, both the child and its mothers.Like what happened with Isla, in a way, just less pronounced on the megalomania, and instead childish lack of understanding of right and wrong.
>>36206186I wasn't joking so much when I said or go missing. that would suck. Still hoping for gobbles safe return.
I'm fine with necromancer kids.I'm not fine with them reading the book.
>>36206111>We have 65 weeks for item making?I'm getting it as 69 left, but otherwise yes.>>36206185>I have to ask, if this happens, would it result in necromancer kid? Or would it result in brain fried kid? There's no chance of the kids dying or having their minds destroyed by the tome. They'll get a roll, and a poor result will cause obsession with necromancy and undead. A high roll will avoid personality warping.>>36206215>>36206263Challenge rather than sacrifice.>>36206293I made no promises about the fatality count at your wedding kidding>>36206339I'll try not to die again Anon, once was enough.
>>36206357Could you say why? Its become pretty clear reading the book would just pretty much result in that. And possibly a strong desire for more necromantic knowledge and what have you, maybe a bout of megalomania or two that we would have to deal with later on.>>36206393>They'll get a roll, and a poor result will cause obsession with necromancy and undead. This doesn't sound bad a t all. A challenge, sure but not any worse than Isla being a demon for a while.
>>36206393>They'll get a roll, and a poor result will cause obsession with necromancy and undead.I can deal with that, might be cool. alrgiht, I'm down with book reading. Its definitly safer than one of the adults reading it as far as I can see.
>>36206108>is Loli Necromancer something you want?It might be a story arc a couple of years down the line. But when I wrote about it I meant it in jest.I wouldn't be opposed but I wouldn't vote for it either.
>>36206393>They'll get a roll, and a poor result will cause obsession with necromancy and undead. A high roll will avoid personality warping. Not really comfortable with that at all, especially with the way the dice act in this quest sometimes. I hate personality warping in general. If we rolled in a completely terrible way, would it still be possible for Sireyi to work with her daughter and overcome that obsession entirely?
>>36206393........Pally confirmed for being secret gobble?>>36206426I'm fine with necrokids, doesn't mean I want them. nor do I want top deal with megalomania in my kids.
>>36206393What Have I wrought? I just posted that spoiler in jest. And now my monster has come to life.Uhm, I would have liked it happen off-screen? Because it would have been interesting, and people would have seen its effects right bthere and be something the deal with and can find cool.I fear if we get the option it will be a lot of arguing and angsting and paranoia. Not sure if thats a good idea. >>36206393Makes it sound pretty decent, but I'm not 'against' it, so I'm not sure what the anons who are think of that, and what their fears are.
>>36206504Those books are bad juju, man.
>>36206520Pally has already spelled out the worst that could happen is it gets a obsession with necromancy. Thats something we can still temper with responsibility, like we do with Isla and her magic.I would like someone have a more concrete reason for the books being bad, other than "books are bad". I mean, I understood it while we didn't know what it might do. But now we do.
>>36206492>nor do I want top deal with megalomania in my kidsAppaerently not a issue. And I'll be honest. childlike curiosity about necromancy and uindead sounds adorable. And it will be, you know how these things work out here, it will be adorable and hilarious.
>>36206108>I’m asking an open question here: Do people really want the option of MIli (or Vivi) to read the Tome of Necromancy?allthenogifs.gif>>36206215At that age I dread to think what it could do.
Regarding upbringing tempering any issues arising from reading the Tome.Mili (and Vivi) have 4 parents (in an upbringing sense, not genetic): Sireyi, Sofia, Isla and Jal.So they could end up being kind and diplomatic, cultured and regal, intellectual and shy....or like Jal.So I'd say their chances are pretty good.
>>36206393I would suggest to just bring it up at some point. People will probably acccept it if it happens off-screen, and if you are unsure, just have a little scene with whoever of the kids you find that more interesting with and then let people vote.It doesn't seem like there is all that strong feelings on either side, so I'm fairly hopeful it would not be "CelestialChildren Nr.2: The Return of the Samefagging". >>36206616>At that age I dread to think what it could do.Now we already know what it would do, though, I wouldn't have voted for it before the clarification, though.
>>36206655>.or like JalI wasn't worried before. Now I am. Nah, if you like the idea, run with it, and people will vote how they will. I think you made it fairly clear nothing terrible or fun killing would happen, so people will just have to decide
>>36206655>....or like Jal.My sides!>>36206572I dunno then man. I'm not smart and I'm not good at explaining why I want things. I just do not
>>36206655okay so lets say we do decide meta that a kid reads the book. how does it happen in game?
>>36206676>Now we already know what it would do, thoughWe know what this book's exact effect will be, but all of the books amplify a few facets of the reader's personality, IIRC. That's where Isla's knowledge obsession and megalomania came from.Kinda don't want to know what might happen to Milerna.I'd prefer it being on-screen (if people decide to vote for it), I think. My mind isn't being very clear with which it would prefer.
>>36206753I plan on running from Vivi/Mili PoV at some point in the future. It will come up in thread that they found (or heard about) a book of magic. The option to try and read it will be made in character - at that time anons can vote for or against depending upon their personal preferences and if they feel it in-character at the time.
>>36206793right but the book takes 3 weeks speed reading, how do they get that finished with getting stopped?
>>36206838Not sure yet, but I'll figure something out.
>>36206793>>36206838wait.... Does the book WANT to be read?
>>36206754I personally think Milerna, and Vivi got raised well enough that this isn't a huge problem.I suppose Pally goes on the safer side if he lets people vote on it if he doesn't absolutely want it to happen.>>36206838We'll see. Our angels are, sadly, shit at their job. Our literal evil Twin could walk right up to them and take the kids.
>>36206838Probably longer than that, given that they're children. Can't speed-read, book is full of technical crap about Necromancy, etc.
>>36206902It has enchantment effects to put the knowledge into the readers head, so the technical crap won't be a issue.
>>36206869>wait.... Does the book WANT to be read?Yes
>>36206838They might not. Depends on how it works. Maybe the kid only reads it for a few days and has a lot of necromantic knowledge with that already.
Pally is basest QM.All my want for necromancer heir. Shit, it doesn't matter if it's Vili or Mili, the other sibling can read the other tome, and they will be awesome.
>>36206870>I suppose Pally goes on the safer side if he lets people vote on it if he doesn't absolutely want it to happen. It doesn't matter if he wants it to happen, not letting people vote on something is an asshole thing to do.>I personally think Milerna, and Vivi got raised well enough that this isn't a huge problem. It might not be a problem at all, if we roll well. I hope we do.>>36206927It still requires the reader to actually read through it, that's a pretty major part of how the magic works.
>>36206935>>wait.... Does the book WANT to be read?>YesNow I'm worried. Nothing that wants to be read ends well, regardless of what Pally's said about the book and it's consequences.
>>36206986>It doesn't matter if he wants it to happen, not letting people vote on something is an asshole thing to do.Yet it happened several times in this quest, and I don't remember all that many complaints about it. The QM can't ask for permission for every plot hook he uses, you can expect that maybe for the PC but not for NPCs.
>>36207073There's a difference between most plothooks and offscreen mental warping happening to one the children of the MC.He's already said what he's going to do, and that's a PoV of one of the kids and a vote.
>>36207102>mental warpingIts not warping though, we already clarified that.I favored a vote as well, but it wouldn't have been a terrible transgression if there wouldn't have been one.Mainly because then there wouldn't have been time for the paranoia and shadowrunning when people can just see the effect and deal with it.
>>36206426>A challenge, sure but not any worse than Isla being a demon for a while>>36206549>I would like someone have a more concrete reason for the books being bad, other than "books are bad".This is the child who would have struck her brother with a magicly aimed killing blow if we hadn't stopped her right? SHE IS NOT READY FOR WHAT THAT BOOK COULD DO! She is still growing up and still learning who she is and at best that book will leave her thinking "I could use necromancy to fix this, that would be great." when faced with a problem and so she will grow up needing to second guess herself every time she has a necromancy related idea. That would not make a happy, well balanced person.
The reason I put this question to the players is because it was a plothook I didn't think of.I never planned for the kids to get their hands on the Tomes. If I had, I still would have let players vote - but it would have been sprung on you mid-thread.
>>36206974The other book definitely isn't getting read by one of our kids. After Sireyi learns that one of her kids found their way into the magical artifact vault and read the potentially-extremely-dangerous book of necromantic knowledge, there's no way that the other books is going to be easily accessible, assuming it's not destroyed.>>36207145I'm pretty sure that Pally said that it was personality warping on a poor roll.In case you missed it, Isla's megalomaniacal episodes are also the result of the personality warping the books can do. They amplify existent personality traits in addition to an obsession and reliance on the field of knowledge they govern.
>>36207181>This is the child who would have struck her brother with a magicly aimed killing blowThat wasn't anymore her fault than Sofia doing the same thing to Sireyi before. Its not like she lashed out at her brother intending to hurt him. She just wanted that loop and then she got hijacked by her divine powers, hell, if she uses the tome, she would have less need to rely on physical stuff and would be less likely to injure people because at least she has conscious control over the necromancy and would just need proper parentage to learn she can't solve all problems with magic.
>>36207217>said that it was personality warping on a poor roll. No, he said she will get a obsession with necromancy. It doesn't change her personality per se. She won't be more likely to do bad stuff with it than she would be with her current powers.>>36207181You remember that scene wrong. Mili didn't want to hurt her brother at all, that was her paladin power kicking in. It happened with Sofia before, it has nothing to do with her capacity for violence or recklesness, its not even apersonality thing.
>>36207181>she will grow up needing to second guess herself every time she has a necromancy related ideaThat doesn't sound like a terrible thing to me. Using necromancy is definitly something she should second guess herself on. Just the same as her mother needs to second guess herself on letting Konigs heritage control her. Or her other mother with a certain ability Of all the possible reasons against it, and there are some, this is definitly not one.
>>36207281Okay, look...>>36206393>They'll get a roll, and a poor result will cause obsession with necromancy and undead. A high roll will avoid personality warping.>A high roll will avoid personality warpingThat implies a low roll would be personality warping.I also recall it being mentioned that Isla's book amplified a few of her personality traits to the point of it becoming a bad thing (megalomania, obsession with knowledge). He stated what the Necromancy book itself does, but it's possible it could also cause amplification of certain personality traits. It says a poor result will cause X, not that it only causes X, there could be several universal effects of the books that he didn't elaborate on.Given that an obsession with Necromancy and the Undead isn't really warping someone's personality, I'd say that it's possible this is the case.
>>36207410I think he just wanted to make sure people understand absolutely nothing bad will happen if a high roll occurs. Not that on a low roll her personality will be warped in a way he won't tell us. If he says X will happen on a low roll, then we can assume X will be the worst thing that will happen, because Pally has no reason to keep that secret from us. The discussion was specifically about the negative effects reading the book can have, there is no reason he failed to mention the worst of them for kicks.Islas book did one thing, we can't know if all of them do the same thing, and even if they do, Mili is not Isla we can't know what they would amplify in her, if anything, she is a kid, it is very reasonable to assume the effect on her is muted because she didn't have the time to develop any strong sentiments like Isla has for magic.
>>36207494That argument will probably do a better job of persuading me that Pally isn't out to get me when I wake up and am no longer hyper-paranoid about everything.Good night, anon.
>>36207410>Given that an obsession with Necromancy and the Undead isn't really warping someone's personalityThat is arguable, and I think Pally used the phrase "personality warping" to avoid the argument if obsession with necromancy would constitute as personality warping.I don't think he would fuck us over by going "oh and btw, your kid is now a megalomaniac too, because."
>>36207526Good Night to you too, anon.
>>36207410>Given that an obsession with Necromancy and the Undead isn't really warping someone's personality, I'd say that it's possible this is the case.In the context of my post, this is what I meant:High roll - nothing noticeableLow roll - personality warping (amplifies some existing negative traits) + Obsession with necromancy and undead.Negative traits means things such as short temper, desire for power etc - if they exist in the first place.Isla always did desire power, because to her power = freedom. What are Mili's negative traits? too early to tell.>>36207526Good night.I'm not out to get you Anon.
>>36207600I'm fairly confident the worst thing that would come of this is not the personality issues Mili might have. The worst thing will be the other Sireyi and Sofia finding out what our carelesness with the Lord of Life artifacts has caues. They will have our head.
>>36207600>What are Mili's negative traits? too early to tell.I would put a seriously sized bet on "competitiveness". In sofar that can be called a negative trait
>>36207713Not really. Competitiveness is not bad per se.And even if it is and is amplified, it cans till be easily harnessed into something beneficial and controlled. They're children; their flaws are malleable and easy to guide into becoming beneficial. At worst, Sireyi will have to spend more time with them; which is a good thing, in the end.
>>36207713pfft, no bet Anon.
>>36207868>At worst, Sireyi will have to spend more time with them; which is a good thing, in the end. This was actually my original thought about why this might be a good twist.Because its a plot hook involving our children as active participants. We didn't have that yet.But yes, I expect her amplified trait to be that, so that it becomes "negative", I don't think she will kill a person or anything, but probably become willing to cheat and use dirty tricks, until we teach her better. Or until Jal teachs her to cheat even better
>>36207239>>36207281I did not say she tried to kill him I said she would have killed him. If a child has a gun/matchbox/bleach you should take it away and explain why they should not play with it. We did this as best we could but as you can't take magic away we couldn't do that part. What you should not do is give ANY children a gun/matchbox/bleach that they can't put down that will make them want to use it.>>36207339I'm having a hard time thinking up stuff I would hate more having a part of my mind I can't trust, this is somthing she would be stuck with every day of her life and would proberbly blame on herself.Sometimes the dice roll 1s.>>36207868>They're children; their flaws are malleable and easy to guide into becoming beneficialThey are children and children are malleable and that fact is why they should read the book.
>>36207960>why they should read the booknot read the booksorry
>>36207960>I did not say she tried to kill himBut then this has nothing to do with her character flaws, because what happened there didn't have anything to do with her character at all. So its not part of this discussion, you can of course argue that a child shouldn't get necromantic powers, which is a valid argument to make, no one ever claimed it doesn't have downsides. The point is, it has far more upsides, and the downsides are interesting narrative opportunities for us rather than terrible joy-killers. And for the second part, she would have to learn to deal with that part of herself, and grow into a person that can make such calls, maybe she fucks up sometimes, it happens, she learns and grows on it. She would learn to accept that part of herself, its more character building than a cross to bear in my eyes, I don't think any child being raised by Sofia, Jal, Isla and Sireyi, and then Sofia and Sireyi again, could ever grow being brooding and angsty about her powers.
>>36207960>They are children and children are malleable and that fact is why they should read the book.Thats really only true if you think that her parents would fuck up in raising her properly. The book as a one-time influence on her, which might be lasting, but its not like the affinity for evil a demon-blooded has.So her being malleable is definitly a reason why the potential of developing some negative traits wouldn't be the end of the world.
>>36208086What is it with people not reading my posts? I did I did not say character flaws I quoted someone who used the word "flaws" once and yes this is part of this discussion because when you reply to me we are having a discussion, if you don't want to have a discussion beyond character flaws then don't reply to posts that don't bring them up but do not try and say that I'm using the arguments you want me to use.>>36208138>The book as a one-time influence on herI see the book more as a one time shift in how her mind works, she could gain an ongoing obsession with necromancy and undead, I see that as more than a one time influence.
>>36208466You explicitly said that she might have hit her brother once with a magically aimed killing blow, and showed that as sign for her "not being ready for what this book does". We pointed out how that event has absolutely nothing to do with how ready she is for anything because it had nothing to do with her personality or character. Unless you meant to imply her Konig lend divine powers might make her misuse what the book as to offer, I don't see what relevance that event has to how well she could handle the book.
>>36208530As I tried to explain with the gun/matchbox/bleachthing I don't care why it happend my point is that a child is not ready for books that list obsession as a side effect.A childs mind is still growing and reading thet book at a young age risks messing someone up for life.
>>36208783A very specific obsession which aren't exactly terrible things. And her mind still growing is actually why reading the book might be safer for her than for an adult, because she doesn't have much to be amplified by its effect.Again, it could only mess her up for life if her parents fuck up dealing with it, which even Pally already said is pretty much impossible considering who she has looking out for her.Its simply not the issue.
>>36208891>reading the book might be safer for her than for an adultKey word being might.I think we're as close as we're going to get to seeing this the same way so other than saying I still don't want to see this happen I'm content to let this rest. Goodnight anon.
>>36209050Good night you too anon.
