The captain was less than pleased with the results of your last mission. For all your effort, the only information that you were able to find was that the slavers were indeed slavers. You stand and return to practicing on the training dummy. The crossbreed that you captured has been uncooperative to say the least. She speaks only to insult those who bring her food or ask her questions. You slash, roll, recover, and then quickly slash again.“You’re getting better.” A man’s voice calls out from behind you. You quickly turn to see Glen, outfitted in new armor.“Same to you.” You laugh a little out of breath.“I felt naked without it, my old armor was torn to shreds so I went into town today to get a new set.” Glen models his new possession. “Thankfully I remembered to go before the Festival of Union began. The first lanterns have begun to arrive already.”You recall your stay at Myndras, where the yearly festival begins. They send water lanterns down river, which are caught, relit, and sent back on their way from village to village. “You think we’ll be on guard duty?” you ask Glen as you sheath your sword. “The captain never puts us on duty for either of the two nights. He insists that we go out and enjoy the festival.” Glen replies.“You planning on taking Sarah to either night?” you turn to Glen raising your eyebrows. You intend to get to the bottom of the awkwardness between them.“None of your business.” Glen turns away and starts rubbing his neck. “Anyway, the captain wanted us to go try to get some information out that…person again.” Glen away from you.>Press your original question.>Go see if you can Sarah and see what she has to say about this>Interrogate the crossbreed>Write in

Will have to delay the update for about 45-60 min. Real life just took a bit of a poop on me. My intense apologies for the delay.
>>36058620Okey-dokey. Don't worry too much about it.
>>36058620It's cool. See ya in a bit.
>>36058620I have returned. Thank you for waiting. You’re not letting him drop this. “What is with you two avoiding each other?” You raise your voice. “You two are my best friends. I should be telling you that there’s no need to be embarrassed if you go with each other, and that I’m happy for you. But here you two are, acting like the other has a plague. Enough. Tell me what happened.” You jab your finger into his shoulder for emphasis.“I was re…” Glen trails off.“What?” You didn’t catch the last part.“I was rejected.” Glen says quietly. There is a heavy silence hanging in the air. You’re not quite sure how to respond.“The day that I woke up from my injuries, I told Sarah something.” He pauses to collect his thoughts. “I told her that I was always happy around her, that she meant so much to me, and that I loved her.”“Oh.” Is all that you can manage to get out. You don’t imagine this story ending on a positive note. He continues “She didn’t say a word. She just said that she had to go train. I haven’t said much to her since then.” You finally understand why those two have been acting strange toward each other these past days. You have some guilt for pressing the issue on Glen but you’re glad that you got to the bottom of it. “I’m sorry I pushed the matter so indelicately.” You apologize.“Don’t be, it must have been hard on you seeing us that way.” Glen sighs and looks of into the distance.>Tell him he wasn’t rejected just yet, you’ll talk to Sarah later to see how she feels>Tell him that he needs to talk to Sarah to see how she feels.>Tell him that it’d be best to stop pursuing Sarah romantically>Write in

>>36059791“Cheer up, Glen.” You walk next to him and stare off into the distance as well. “You haven’t been rejected just yet.” You pause and then start off slowly. “Sarah had someone die on her and is taking it badly. Add that to the fact we almost lost you, she’s had a lot to deal with recently. I’ll talk to her later today.” You put your hand on his shoulder. “But you really owe me now.” You laugh shaking his shoulder slightly.“Thank you, Alena.” He grins.“Yeah, yeah. Come on. We have work to do.” You turn and walk back into the building.~You carry a tray of food to the storage room where you’ve been keeping the crossbreed. You and Glen are to get any information you can from her about the crystal shards.“How has she been?” Glen asks Valerie, who’s sitting next to the locked door.“Rude.” Valerie pouts. “When I walked in to check in on her she said that she never seen something so grotesque looking in her life.”Glen stifles a laugh. Valerie catches it and shoots him a dirty look. “Have fun.” She says shortly as she unlocks the door. “I’m sure she didn’t mean it.” Glen attempts to recover the situation. “Either that or she has bad eyesight, you’re quite good looking.” He finishes as the two of you walk into the room.“Save it.” Valerie lets her hair fall over her face, but you briefly see a small smile. Glen is used to appeasing her. She closes and locks the door behind you.The crossbreed was asleep when you walked in but roused when she heard the sounds of the door. She looks at the two of you hotly.“What do you want, f-fil” She doesn’t finish her sentence before eyeing the tray of food with intense desire. >Give her the tray.>Tell her she gets the tray if she cooperates.>Eat some food from the tray showily.>Write in

>>36060487You look at the contents of the tray. Shredded chicken meat, some bread, and a cup of water. You’re not familiar with the diet of an undine, much less a crossbreed, but by the look in her eyes you can tell she really wants what’s on the tray. You pick up some of the cooked chicken in your hand and then you hold it in the air for a second and then put it in your mouth. Chewing slowly and savoring the taste before swallowing loudly.Glen looks at you in bewilderment but quickly catches on to your strategy and takes a small piece of the bread for himself. “So good.” He says as he chews on it.Before you know it the crossbreed has crawled to only a few feet away from the two of you. Angry tears begin to form in her eyes. For the first time you see that her eyes are a very deep blue. She would be thin for a human but maybe that has to do with her undine half.“I’d be glad to give you the rest, if you’d just talk with us.” You sit on the floor to be on eye level with her. You push the tray to her. “What’s your name?” Without answering she begins to scarf down the food with no table manners at all. After eating most of her meal, she pauses for a moment and then looks at you with a pieces of chicken stuck to her face.“I was never given a name. One of the men who were carrying me called me Luna. He said it was from an old story about a crossbreed. He was nicer than the rest, but not that much nicer. I really liked the name. “Okay, Luna. >>36061038“What do you know about the slavers?” You look at her as she polishes off the rest of the tray and then gulps down the water. She finishes the water. “They weren’t very nice. They always poked me with sticks and they made wear that ugly cloak all the time.” She wipes her mouth with her forearm. “They always said that I was worth a lot of money. That’s what the tall man told them.”“Tall man?” you inquire.“Yeah! Before I was with that mean group I was with a really tall man for a day. He never showed his face, but he was really nice.”“How did you come to be with the tall man?” you press on without thinking. Her face reflects one of deep thought, and then turns sour. “I’ve told you enough, filth. Now get out!” She crawls into a corner of the room. You sigh and pick up the tray. You and Glen leave the room. “How did you get her to talk? I tried being nice to her, but she didn’t say a word beyond an insult.” Valerie looks at the two of you in slight awe.“Stagger her meals a little and don’t give them to her outright. She’ll come around.” You explain. You look at a window and see that the sun has almost set the light from the windows colors the building a deep red. The first night of the festival will be starting soon.“Her name is Luna.” You walk away with Glen.[1/2]
>>36061819“Go report to the captain about what we got out of her.” You direct Glen. “I’ll go try to get something else out of another girl.” You grin. You and Glen walk upstairs and split off in front of Sarah’s room. You knock on Sarah’s door. “Hey, it’s Alena. I’m coming in.” As you open the door you hear two small thuds from the inside of the room. You come in to see Sarah standing in the middle of her room with a rag in her hand. “Oh, Alena, I was just going to find you to have a chat.” Sarah balls up the rag looking only slightly flustered. “What were you up to?” you point at the rag in her hand. “I just finished polishing my weapons, I’m on a guard duty tonight.” She pulls a polearm of the rack and looks at it absentmindedly. You notice that the rag was quite dirty from the start. “I see.” You begin to walk slowly across the room. She eyes you as you go. You stop and pretend to look at her desk and then suddenly you jump onto her bed to look behind it.You see dirty two boots. Hastily thrown out of sight.“Alena!” Sarah says with shock in her voice. You pick up the boots and turn to look at her. The secret is out. We’ll keep it between us.” You continue“Tomorrow, on The Night of New” She mumbles. “Awww.” You gush. “You turn to her, you were going to let him wallow in misery the first night of the festival?” “Actually.” She pauses. “I was hoping that you or Valerie would take him tonight, so that he doesn’t spend it alone in his room.”You giggle. “I’ll have to think about it. I’m worried that I’d let the secret slip if I spent this festival night with him.Sarah grabs your hands excitedly “Well then, spend it with me. We’ll have so much fun! It’s your first time in Tarin, we do things differently since we are the last village on the river path.” “Okay sounds great!” The excitement quickly builds inside of you. “I have to go report back to Glen. I promise to tell him.”“I’ll go convince Valerie to take Glen with her. Shouldn’t be too hard. I’ll meet you in front of the entrance” Sarah giggles before leaving her room. You go down to the hall to find Glen. You find him sitting at a table starting a meal. You take a seat next to him. You put your hand on his shoulder and quietly say “By the way, you’re taking Valerie out tonight.” You pat his shoulder roughly and walk away to leave Glen in his confusion and concern. You walk out into the evening night. You look up at the sky and see that the moon is almost full. It provides light in addition to the many lanterns put up around the town. Sarah walks out of the guild building and you two are on your way with arms linked. The two of you make your way to the city square. Flames through lantern shades placed along the pathways of the village illuminate the scene in colors of red, green, blue, and purple. Drums beat and music sounds throughout the night. Children run through the paths shouting wildly to one another. You and Sarah stop off at a food stand and buy skewered meat for yourselves. Traveling merchants cry out into the noise, peddling their goods to all the strong lads and pretty ladies that pass by.“Where should we stop by first?” you ask Sarah unfamiliar with the events of the village. “Well, we should make sure to pull a burnt out lantern from out of the river. It’s good luck. But that can wait.” She thinks for a moment. “There’s always more food to eat and entertainment to see if we walk around. Although, we could make a bit of money, there are knife throwing games and sparring matches.” She laughs “I’ve entered the sparring matches since I was old enough to enter. I always come up with some money.” She pauses and looks at the merchant stands. “I do want to get Glen a gift for tomorrow...”Where to first?>Knife throwing games>Sparring matches>Merchant Stands>The river

We wouldn’t want to forget to get a gift for Glen now would we?”Your eyes gloss over the sheer amount of items for sale. Robes, jewelry, perfumes, and spices to list just a few. A pair of boots catches your eyes. “Look Sarah, you could match with Glen, although we would have to ruin them first.” You suggest.Sarah shoots you a look of disbelief.“It was only a suggestion.” You laugh. You watch as Sarah begins to eye various pendants. “I don’t even know if Glen would like something like this.” Sarah says as she looks at all the items.“If it’s from you, he wouldn’t care.” You take in your surroundings as a merchant begins to shoot his script to Sarah.Smiles all around, everyone’s so eager to forget the terrible events of these past weeks. In the distance, a large cloaked figure catches your eye. He turns rushes out of sight before anyone takes notice of him. It was S’Bon, the dark green lizardman. Lizardmen have frequented the town much less since racial tensions have been building, but it’s not as if he isn’t allowed here. You turn to Sarah to see that she is still preoccupied with haggling with the merchant. If you don’t leave now you’ll lose him for sure, but if you do leave you’ll likely lose Sarah most if not all of the night.>Pursure S’Bon>Remain with Sarah>Write in

You sigh in frustration and run off after where you saw the cloaked figure disappear. You bump into many people along the way but you aren’t deterred. You turn the corner of where you lost sight of S’Bon and you see him off in the distance standing next to a red lantern taking in the heat. The path you’re on is much emptier than the rest of the village and you catch up to him quickly. A little winded, you stop in front of him.“Ahh greetings, little Alena, so good it is to see that you made it from your mission alive. Can I assume the same about your blonde haired companion?” S’Bon says kindly.“If you’re talking about Sarah, then yes, she’s just fine.” You reply shortly still catching your breath. You straighten yourself out. “May I ask what brings you into town?” “I’ve come to see the village and the festival. We have a similar celebration among my people, but it only occurs every five years, and it’s much less…” He pauses to think of the word “festive.” He continues “I do enjoy watching your villages sparring matches.” He steps closer to red lantern.“It was considerate of your village to evenly distribute all these colors. Red, Blue, Green, Purple.”He touches the lantern shade. “If it were up to me to distribute them…” He pauses “The village would be flooded in blue light. So little red, so little green, and a single purple light lost among it all.”He closes his eyes for a few seconds.“I sense that you have a lot to ask of me. >>36065451You stop to think of your question. You turn upwards and gaze into his eyes. “Should I trust the captain?” “Your captain…” S’Bon pauses while flicking his tongue. “…desires the safety of villagers above all else. As a villager yourself, you should trust him.” S’Bon puts on the hood of his cloak. “Farewell human, may we meet again someday.” S’Bon disappears into the crowd. You return to the merchant stand to see that Sarah has long since left. You search around for her throughout the festival while thinking over what S’Bon told you. You search for her at the river with no success.Lanterns float by as eager villagers pull them out of the water. Seeing one drift by without attention, you pull it out of the water and place it with the others waiting to be relit. You turn back to see several unlit lanterns float down the river without a hand reaching out to grab them. Resolving that there's no way you can pull them all out of the water you head home. You make your way back home. Lively chatter comes from the hall as you see Sarah, Valerie, Glen, Vincent, and Bart all discussing their nights. “Where did you go? I was looking all over for you?” Sarah scolds you as you take a seat to join the conversation. “I got lost. I guess I don’t know the town too well yet.” You laugh. She winks at you as she shows you a pendant with an elegant looking feather design. You return a smile. You head to bed looking forward to Sarah’s plans for tomorrow and the second night of the festival.~Here is where I'm going to call it for tonight. As always a huge thank you to all who played today.
