Welcome to the VIIi installment of "Disney Villains Victorious."Disney Villains Victorious is a new /tg/ homebrew project based on the idea of a world, not entirely unlike our own, in which all the villains from all the Disney animated feature films were not defeated at the ends of their movies but were instead victorious, completing their goals in part or in whole. It is a world in which Ursula rules the seas, defied only by the uncatchable Pirate Lords and the might of Atlantis and its magitech-toting mercenaries. It is a world where the grasslands and jungles and forests are prowled not only by fearsome primal beasts like Shere Kahn and Scar but also by the ruthless, tireless hunters that stalk them. It is a world where Europe has been divvied up between evil sorcerous queens like Maleficent and mad, inquisitorial clergymen like Frollo, and Dark Gods like Hades and Chernobog, pictured here.It is not, however, a world completely devoid of courage, heroism or hope. Around the world, the PCs' characters and their allies plot and plan, fight and strive and win their own victories against the villains that would rule them. The time to fight and to be free is now.http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?searchall=Disney+Villains+Victorious
>>36056951True, true. Arthur was incompetent at the same age too, though, and I believe that Taran knows everything that could be of benefit to the rebellion. Perhaps we can agree to disagree and make it another quantum detail? Rumors milling about that one of the rebel commanders has seen the horrid power of the Black Cauldron firsthand, and knows the secret to destroying it?>>36056901If you really want to fuck with your players, have them find him sleeping in his throne.....but when they wake him up, his dialogue indicates he wasn't truly sleeping under the mountain, it was just bedtime and he'd gotten really comfortable in his throne.>"Arise, King Arthur! This is your country's darkest hour!">"Mmmphrmph...5 more minutes....please...."
Asking again>>36056969Is there a list or do people just go by consensus?
I have so much to catch up on since last night, and I LOVE it!
>>36057067I think we do need to start compiling a list, if only so we can keep track of everything and the new guys can catch up quickly.
>>36057042Another problem is that Taran's whole character development is from 'young boy who wants to be a hero' to 'guy who realises he's unfit to be a hero'. Everything he knows was taught to him by the witches. His being alive makes the Horned King look incompetent, especially if we also have Merida and Arthur running around or hiding up north.I'm in favour of adopting Disney's position on the Black Cauldron - the only character worth remembering from the whole mess was the Horned King himself and the rest can go hang.
>>36057067We can't find a consensus on what happened here and there, so we decided to give alternatives:>Arthur is slepping under the mountain>Arthur is leading a rebellion>Jafar is a sorcerer>Jafar is a genieEt cetera.
>>36057067I believe that it is mostly in our Anons' brains and scattered throughout the thread. It might be a good idea to start compilig a master list.
Completely new here. So what's Emperor Palpatine doing in this universe?
>>36057103He's in a galaxy far, far away.
>>36057103We are not using anything too far in the future (or in the past), so no Star Wars, no Marvel, no Lilo and Stitch, no Treasure Planet, no Hero 6.
>>36057139Waitwaitwait, no Hero 6? I thought we were keeping that?If we are not, than we need to update the map.
>>36057157Didn't we decide that he was too far out for the setting we were shaping?
>>36057089I'll take that one on. I shall compile a list of events in the Lands, as well as the different realm's King/Land/Rule setups.Into a .txt file that i'll upload to 1d4chan sooner or later.
>>36057157The best technology around should come from Atlantis: everything better than that is out.
>>36057083>Another problem is that Taran's whole character development is from 'young boy who wants to be a hero' to 'guy who realises he's unfit to be a hero'.That also describes his character arc in 'The Horned King', the first book in the Chronicles of Prydain. Taran, at this point at time, might be more among the lines of who he was by the beginning of the fifth and final book in the series. The rub is coming up with a way for Taran to survive without making the Horned King look incompetent....perhaps he realizes that he's going to need a handful of servants that can actually think and now that his men have fled at the sight of the Cauldronborn he has no choice but to enslave his prisoners without making them Cauldronborn. Or perhaps he wanted Taran to reach adulthood so his corpse can become a proper Cauldronborn. From there, Merlin, knowing it was Taran's destiny to slay the Horned King, helped him escape Obi-Wan style.I don't know, let's just put the rumors in there, plus the rumors of a rebel leader who thrice suvived Mor'du, and leave it at that.
>>36057182I have seen it brought up but there has been no consensus.
>>36057237Should we vote on it?
>>36057182My thoughts on the matter is that it should be implied that until the corporation took over, and even after that, those areas were free from dark magics and pervasive evil, so human innovation flourished and technology developed much faster than it did in the rest of the world.
>>36057237Honestly figure that the only reason to leave it out is because of the potential for spoilerness. Not sure our villain in BH6 really fits the archetype for what we're going for here anyway. Had his plan succeeded, I think he might have either simply gone away or been destroyed in the fallout.
>>36057249>>36057237something has to go in Japan, it can't be atlantis and ursula really doesn't care about large islands, and Shan Yu doesn't make much sense either... unlesss..... when was the big chinese invasion of japan? there was some fleet that china launched that got swallowed by a huge storm from nowhere
>>36057249I'm against it: the only technology comes from Atlantis.
>>36057290Crushed by the Kami Kaze, yes.Did Disney ever make something based in Japan? I honestly cannot remember.
If we're that desperate for technology we could just have Mechanicles from the Aladdin series traveling around dishing out tech as a parallel to Gothel. Also explains the industrial settings.
>>36057249>>36057282>>36057290>>36057293Honestly, we should delay the vote until BH6 has left the spoiler realm, and in the mean time develop alternatives in case we decide against it.
>>36057312well, my thought was that if that storm happened after shan yu's invasion, there was magic that supressed it and allowed the invasionit's a stretch but it would work
>>36057089>>36057085>>36057082Okay then, let's start compiling a list. It seems to be just as important as looking into system things.
>>36057342Be sure not to forget rumors about the lieutenants of the rebel leader claiming to be Arthur.>>36057233>>36057042
From the last thread, consensus was that Wonderland was the better version of The Other Side, it was a quasi-dream construct created by Alice and that it was visitable through other dream worlds like The Hundred Acre Wood or Neverland.Seems like it would be a good prize for Dr. Facilier to be after, he could settle his massive debts to his Friends on the Other Side by handing over Wonderland to them, maybe even come out ahead with some extra shadow powers. That means he'll be trying all avenues to get to it, so he'll be in conflict with whichever King had a leash on Christopher Robin, he'd be at odds with Captain Hook with his knowledge of getting to Neverland, but he'd be using most of his resources to track down Alice so he can skip straight it.Where is Alice in all this, by the way?
>>36057328Yeah, we should probably just wait until more people have seen it. Untile then, let's say that Atlantis and Mechanicos are the only sources of big, futuristic technology around.
>>36057369The movie seemed to imply that New Orleans was sufficient to pay his debt. Of course, he could always wrack up more.
>>36057342What should we put in each villain's entry on the list?
>>36057369So Wonder Land, Never Land and the 100 Acres Wood are all the same kind of reality: a Dream Land. The Other Side, on the other hand (eh) is a Nightmare Land: the same thing, but biult by nightmares and human fears.Getting Wonder Land for the Other Side would make Facilier (and the Other Side itself) even more powerful. Now he hunts for Alice, the Dreamer.
>>36057415How they won, what they did after they won, how much and which particular land they rule, the effects of their rule on the land, assets at their disposal, weaknesses, and who if anyone currently stand against them.
>>36057446I was thinking a google doc would be the best way of letting everyone access and edit it.Anyone want to make one?
>>36057436>Nightmare LandDammit, why isn't Little Nemo Disney? That was a great movie
>>36057457We already got a 1d4chan page.http://1d4chan.org/wiki/Disney_villains_victorious
>>36057436Come to think of it both Alice and Cristopher Robin fit the title "The dreamer".
>>36057436>a Nightmare LandSpeaking of which, what's Oogie-Boogie up to in Halloweentown? The holiday towns are certainly reflections of something in the human mind and spirit.
>>36057507They are all Dreamers, just like Peter Pan. It's just that Cristopher Robin is weaker than Alice, while Peter Pan is a dick.
>>36057507>>36057535Maybe Facilier needs all of the dreamers to establish a solid link to the world that the Friends can exploit? But his influence on the dream world gets stronger with every dreamer her collects, which could affect the whole world, them having more nightmares than dreams.
>>36057481Yeah but a doc is more easily editable and people can access it simultaneously. I meant the list could be made on a doc and then put onto 1d4chan.
> that feel when brazil is free and prosperall hail glorious hueland.
>>36057558>more easily editableThey seem about the same to me.>people can access it simultaneouslyAny number of people can read 1d4chan at the same time, and if you're talking about simultaneous editing I think it's a clusterfuck either way.
>>36057446For Example>Horned King>Prevented Taran and friends destroying the Black Cauldron>Built up a massive army of the Cauldron-Born, Gwythaints and witches such as Madam Mim, Overthrow King John after his victory of Robin Hood - killed many soldiers, transformed others and spared those who swore fealty to him. Let some people go settle the New World>All of the British Isles apart from the north of Scotland in addition to Northern France. Probably has influence in English colonies oversees.>His lands (Prydain) are covered in a sickly green Cauldron-haze that saps the will, drains stamina, slows healing and crushes the spirit. It resurrects any who die underneath it into Cauldron Born.>Massive army of Cauldron Born, large numbers of draconic Gwythaints, several human lackeys who fight for his attention, witches such as Madam Mim. The Horned King is a powerful, cunning and ruthless sorcerer-lich with considerable magical power.>The Black Cauldron is the keystone of his Cauldron Born army, and can be destroyed by the willing self-sacrifice of someone climbing into it. The legendary sword Dyrnwyn can prevent Cauldron Born resurrecting once struck down - though if the effect is permanent is unknown, especially since the sword remains locked away in his castle. It is rumoured Excalibur can do something similar, though this has yet to be proven. (i.e. DM fiat if it does or not.)>Rebellions against his rule may exist in the northern lands where Mor'du keeps the Cauldron Born away. Some may ferment in the cities, but the hope-dissolving haze makes this less likely. DMF: King Arthur is still alive, either as an active rebel leader or as the slumbering King-under-the-Mountain. Merida may be alive in the north. Taran may be alive, but this is unlikely. Both he and the three witches know how to destroy the Black Cauldron.
>>36057535Shouldn't Peter be dead. Also i think it's a better idea if the dreamer for Neverland is Wendy, after all it was her that told the stories of Peter Pan to her brothers.
>>36057611One more detail you need to add:>The Horned King has stolen all of the technology, art, music, lore, craft secrets and magic in his realm and has slain all those who know of them; in this way, he is the sole keeper of the greatest secrets and wonders of mankind.
>>36057342I've already kindof started on that. How about i list events and the region's King/Land/Rule setups?
>>36057666Start with HK>>36057611>>36057647
>>36057647I think he'd let a few witches stay alive, would probably hand out weapon and armour tech to his Cauldron Born and let his human servants have enough technology to keep themselves alive.I just want to see skeletons with Lee Enfields
>>36057622Much better: let's say that Wendy is the Dreamer of Never Land and that Peter Pas has been removed. Meanwhile, Hook is free to roam the material world with his Pirate Lords.Facilier seeks every Dreamer.
>>36057622>>36057686Yeah, Tink is still Hook's captive, which means she never got out in time to save Peter from the bomb. Wendy would have then walked the plank... perhaps Ursula or Davy Jones snatched her up knowing her importance to Dr. Facilier.
>>36057676The Horned King's KLR is http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/36037296/#p36038286Grimhilde's is http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/36037296/#p36042332I'm working on Maleficent's.
>>36057678I suppose as long as he hoards all beautiful things for himself and not only halts progress but throws Prydain backwards technologically, it'll be true to how Arawn operated in the books.
>>36057692Let's leave undecided who got her: it's a mistery to everyone.
>>36057726Would he try and get his hands on the technologies from everyone else
To whomever is helping compile the lists:1. Should we make special provisions for those Rulers, Peoples and Lands who can possibly be turned to the side of good, like Rourke's Atlantis, Elsa and her Snowlems and King Louie and his monkeys?2. How should we list and/or stat-out NPC heroes and allies in general, like Mulan the Undying, Paris' Gargoyles, etc?
>>36057676>>36057694So now i've got data on HK from >>36057611 and >>36057647as well as KLRs of HK, Grimhilde and Christopher Robin, as well as rough events on Atlantis, Elsa, Chernabog, Wonderland and Mulan. I seem to recall Alameda Slim got a KLR at one point, as well, so might go hunting for that one next...If there's anything i've missed feel free to remind me.
>>36057446I'll toss up what I was thinking for Atlantis>Lyle T. Rourke>Reacted to the other villain victories by taking the City of Atlantis instead of just the heart>Overpowered what little military the native Atlanteans had and set himself up as President>Rules the (now raised) Island of Atlantis as well as numerous strategic outposts and Colonies, most notably Hawaii and Cuba>His lands are swept up in Patriotic fervor that makes subjects enthusiastic toward's Rourke's goals and actions and suppresses thoughts of opposition>A hybrid of Early 20th century technology and Atlantean crystal power. Most obvious examples include Submarines ala the Ulysses and lightning-rifles.>Rourke is a regular human being, in the end. He will die just as easily as one. He's also less egotistical than many of the villains and may be swayed to help the heroes for a price. The major limiter of Atlantean power is a small population and Industrial base. It cannot expand too quickly without risking leaving themselves open to destruction.>Though one of Rourke's ministers and running the many archaeological digs looking for more Atlantean technology (Such as the secret of how to build and repair Leviathans) Milo Thatch is the best candidate for opposition to Rourke. He is still unhappy with the way that the Heart-Princess hybrid that is Kidagakash is being treated.>Though Rourke is the king, he does not have the only influence on the land. The Heart of Atlantis is powerful, and exerts a subtle influence on everyone who wears one of its miraculous life extending crystals, including Rourke Himself
>>360578141. I think that might be a good idea. But i'll need more people on the ball for that.2. Stat out and list by allegiance/alignment an according to regular PC stat sheets. That sounds about right to me.
So in the Hercules setting, Hercules is straight up dead. Pain and Panic killed him when he was a baby.Hades kills all the other Gods? Any survivors? Pan's gonna still be kicking around, is her our hero trainer for the Herc section?
>>36057794Only if it seemed plausible that he could end up the sole guardian of its secrets. He doesn't want to HAVE things so much as he wants to TAKE THEM AWAY FROM EVERYONE ELSE.
>>36057273Hey, to weigh in on Big Hero 6, I'm the guy who put it in, so I'd like to address a couple of things.First: the syndicate covers a really problematic area of the map. Disney has no other Japanese/ Pacific IPs other than Lilo and Stitch (which would definitely not work for the setting) Japan could be ceded to the Huns and California to doomtown/ the wild west/ the spirit realm, but the east idies don't have anyone good to go to (I don't think Ursela would take them over entirely)Second: As to the tech, I certainly don't think it would be much of a stretch. We already are going up to 40s tech with doomtown, and the sort of robotics Yokai has access too I don't think is any more powerful than the magics of the other areas. Some people want to put a cap on the tech levels, but I think that the stratification of tech adds to the wonderLet's wait until the movies been out for longer before we decide though. If we decide against it, we'll have to decide what to do with their territory
>>36057923Is that a 'Only I can be trusted with them' or part of his God-complex.
>>36057953He's just hateful like that.
>>36057906I'd say all the gods got imprisoned by Hades, since all of them except for Herc were in the movie.Phil is still retired, so he doesn't give much of a damn about heroes anymore.Meg's free from her contract, since there weren't any obstacles left, but she's cynical as ever. Also, monsters everywhere, thanks to Herc not being around.
>>36057686Something i just noticed. This fits with the theme of three. The three dreamers Alice, Christopher Robin and Wendy.
>>36057968>PanCan't believe I got the name wrong. I hang my head in shame.Gods imprisoned in Tartarus then, seeing as Hades freed the Titans,
>>36057947I see what you mean about needing to fill spaces on the map and that the robotics might not be overpowered in terms of game mechanics and threat balancing, but to me personally, I feel that they might be too advanced for the setting thematically speaking. One option that'd I'd seen given in earlier threads was that Big Hero 6, Lilo and Stitch, Wall-E, Treasure Planet and other more modern and sci-fi styled movies might be worked into a sort of future or sequel setting that takes place after the events of this one concludes.
>>36057290Maybe Ursula uses it as a base for her pirates. After all, Hook and the gang can't breathe underwater.
>>36058063Perhaps its just an uncontested region that's turned into a war zone.Shan Yu trying to invade, pirates trying to pillage, god knows what else.>Disney also distribute Studio Ghibli films.Do we want to shove that into Japan?
>>36058063But then what about Never Never Land? We could give it to Yzma, I guess.
Pleasure Island's been brought up a couple times, but how about Monstro himself? With Pinocchio as firewood, it's safe to bet that Geppetto is still wasting away inside.Where do the American Tall Tales fit into Alameda Slim's west? Pecos Bill, Paul Bunyan, Casey Jones, Johnny Appleseed, etc.Couple smaller ones like the Wind in the Willows and Legend of Sleepy Hollow haven't been used much.Toad's locked away in the Tower of London, I guess, with the rest of the riverbank seeped with the cauldron mists. Toad's manias could be a good distraction in starting chaos somewhere while the PCs go in search of Arthur.Ichabod Crane would be a ghost, done in by the Headless Horsemen, both of which plague the people of Virginia.
>>36058136Never Land is dying without its Dreamer. Facilier wants to give it to the Other Side, but someone else got it for now. Maybe Izma, since she's a sorceress, but maybe someone else.
>>36057290Disney did help distribute and, I believe, dub Studio Ghibli's films. Maybe something Princess Mononoke or Spirited Away themed? It might be too much of a stretch though, and we definitely don't need a Muska-controlled Laputa in the mix, as much as I love that movie.Personally speaking, I think the easiest solution might be to permit the Hunnic Empire invade and take over, seeing as how Japan would be, theoretically, within their sphere of influence.
>>36058145The Headless Rider rides along the DOOMroad, moving across the Lands and hunting down any rebels he can find.
>>36057967>>36057953>>36057923>>36057794>>36057726>>36057647So the Horned King is the misanthropic villain, Grimhilde is the vain villain, Frollo is the overzealous villain....how do we sum up the other villains in a single adjective?
>>36058174No, I meant the area on the map.
>>36058174I think we said Hook has it.Wendy is never lands dreamer and her location should be unknown as should be the case with al the dreamers.I think the dreamlands can survive without it's dreamer for a while. Also shouldn't the dreamers have the position king for their respective dreamland.
>>36058111If you used the setting of Princess Mononoke, you would have at least 3 possible villains to choose from.>Eboshi gains control of the Forest Spirit's head, defeats the beasts of the wood, becomes immortal, Japan is an industrialized, treeless waste.>Jiko steals the head, gives it to the Emperor of Japan, who becomes immortal. Japan becomes an unstoppable expansionist theocracy led by an immortal God-Emperor.>The headless Forest Spirit kills everyone in vengeance. Japan is depopulated, lifeless, and roamed by the demonic shades of anguished nature spirits.
>>36057328We could use Studio ghebli or what ever its called to fill japan
Sorry, I passed out. Turns out, wizards don't get you while you're sleeping.Did we ever decide to do with attribute points? The basic math I had hashed out involved starting all stats at 4 and givin everyone 20 points to divide as they see fit, then giving them 10 skill points. Sound reasonable? We also need to decide what we're gonna do with classes: what does each individual class provide in he way of bonuses? Are we going to even bother with bonuses? What about traits? How many generic traits do we have? Someone really needs to solidify the damn xp system as well as Ideals. Also, shouldn't we put the 1d4chan page in the header, so people can find it?
>>36058248They should, but they are all missing and the Land is slowly, very slowly, dying without them. Every Dream land should have an invading King, while Facilier plots to take them all and give them to his Friends on the Other Side.Good conflict among the villains, this way.
>>36058269Woah, wait a minute. This is a Disney setting, guys. Studio Ghibli is good, but it's not Disney. Wrong setting. Just give Japan and its various islands to Hook, then give the area where he lives at the moment to Yzma.>Captcha: ayetwon ThisCaptcha agrees.
>>36057290I can't for the life of me imagine a Disney-theme for Japan. It just doesn't fit. As far as I'm concerned Japan doesn't exist on this map, though sometimes, when adventureres travel the seas where it ought to be, they spontaneously turn into little girls.
>>36058279Agreed, but just suggesting. My vote is totally for Big Hero 6, but even if we all wanted to do that we should leave room for a spoilers grace period at the very least.
Okay, i've got this thing ready and posted on Pastebin for later editing.http://pastebin.com/8vvecwkm
>>36058145American Tail is NOT Disney. Don Bluth decided Disney a shit and started his own studio, giving us American Tail, All Dogs go to Heaven, and The Land Before Time 1-500.
>>36058322Not American Tail, American Tall Tales. Most of them were like 5-10 minute shorts.
How about this:The islands that we know as Japan were taken by Shan Yu as part of his series of imperial expansions and invasions before they had the chance to really establish themselves as a nation and a culture on par with the others in this setting. If Miyazaki influences, Princess Mononoke/Spirited Away/etc. are desired because Disney distributed his films, they can be worked in very, very subtly into the Hunnic Empire and its associated campaign.
>>36058276>What about traits? How many generic traits do we have?Well, let's see:Melee>Sword>Spear>Axe>Hammer/mace>Knife>ImprovisedRanged>Bow and Arrow>Crossbow>Thrown>Pistol>Rifle>Energy WeaponBrawl>Bare Knuckle>Wrestling>Kickboxing>Boxing>Animal-Style
>>36058336Whoops, carry on. Sorry, Anon.God damn, what a dick.
>>36058248If Neverland is slowly getting taken over by the Other Side, maybe Facilier is trying to make some kind of deal regarding it with Hook. At present, his wording is "You give me some influence over your possessions, and your servants, on Earth, and I could protect Neverland for you." Key word being "could". He could hold off his Friends and let Hook rule there, but he won't. This way, he gains control of the world's most powerful band of thieves that can strike anywhere. Which is useful, since it's the green, it's the green, it's the green he needs, and with Hook's men it's the green that he sees.
>>36058381Also, because if he helps his Friends get more territory, it can stop them taking his soul for a while.
>>36058276A 4 is too low, to the point of being crippling. 6 is the lowest a character should be able to go. We start with a 6 in everything and then they get 7 points to spread around. Will is not an Attribute anymore: now it's a pool of points to use in exchange for rerolls, bonuses, changes to the enviroment and protection against dark magic. We've got five classes, each for every Attribute. Each class gives bonuses and abilities, but we'll need to work on that.>>36058381>>36058466Good, very good, but consider that Facilier should have already got rid of his own debt: now he's just doing it to become more and more powerful.
>>36058516Remind me what our attributes are now; 1d4chan isn't up to date on the matter.
>>36058558ROBUSTNESS!DexterityIntelligence (but maybe we should call it Memory)SensibilityCharisma
>>36058466>>36058516He's wiped out his debt with New Orleans, sure, but this is a man who sold his soul to the Friends in the first place. I wouldn't be surprised if he put it up again in order to get a bigger prize. After all, he already scored the friends all of the Shadowlands, he's proven that (when suitably motivated) he can get them what they want. That's gotta make his soul collateral for a bigger debt this time than before, right?
>>36058597>Dexterity>Intelligence (but maybe we should call it Memory)>Sensibility>DISOh, if there were only some way to work in N, E and Y stats while still making the system work....
>>36058617But at this point he sohuld be swimming in souls, so there's no point in selling his own, no?
>>36058617Yeah, very right: Facilier probably got enormous powers out of the Friends by now.>>36058630Stop right there: we already did the acronym thing and then decided to abandon it. No need to start again.
>>36057446>Alameda Slim>Gracie is not tone deaf and is hypnotized like all the others>Went through with his plan of not only buying up the west, but also disposed of all governments and sherifs, leaving him and his now infamous gang of outlaws as the sole ruler of the West>Due to his now exceedingly high wealth, made up by his large cattle ranchs and gold, he can effectively rule over the West like a king. >The west is made up out of Texas, Oklahoma and new Mexico, with his capital city being Austin Texas. Its a barren land, but abundant with natural resources and pasture lands. The barren lands also provide a natural barrier against the Friends, as the burning sun and Shining Moon leave little places for shadows to hide.>His rule over his land, at best, would be called a hands off approach. What control he has though, is made possible via tithes on towns, his vast and over reaching gang, and his control over the gold, oil and cattle. Other than that, its a bandits paradise, as long as the Tithes are paid and one does not gain the ire of the Slim gang.>Has a fairly large main army consisting of outlaws and bandits along with some town militias that help keep the peace and ocassionly beat off raids from Eldorado and The Sunless empire. >His elite forces consist of loyal and fearless rough riders, equiped with imported or stolen weapons and mounts. The average rough rider can be equiped with just about anything, ranging from Alantean Flying machines, Carnosaurs, Voodoo wards, Toon Guns, Snow Golems ,Buffalo, or anyother strange beasts and weapons. Each Rough Rider is well equipped enough to deal with just about anything. From the "Friends" of black lousians, to the Robotic monsters of the Co-prosperity, to the spirits of the north, nothing shakes a Rough Rider on duty.>Alameda Slim no push over either, as his Yodeling has only improved over time, like a fine wine.>Cont
>>36058381>>36058466>>36058516I like that idea. However i think that the influence that Hook has over never land was given to him by Wendy, so Wendy should be able to take it back regardless who's in possession of it.
>>36058709But I thought Wendy being dead was the reason the Other Side was leaking in?Also, Facilier's managed to convince the world he's the master of the Other Side. Maybe he's even convinced himself. That could be his weakness: his own hubris.
>>36058709Ehhh, I don't know: given to him how and why? Does he hold her captive?
>>36058672>>36058676I imagine the Friends look at souls like investments. Putting them up for a debt they act more like collateral than the actual payment. So from their perspective which souls will be more likely to motivate Facilier not to default? Some random Luisianans who he really doesn't care about, or his very own soul?Sure, he could use other people's souls to straight trade with the Friends, but the big deals, the "I offer a soul now and get it back when I give you what I've promised, if you give me the power to see it done" deals. That I think he'd still have to use his own.
>>36058736No one said she was dead, just missing.
>>36058738If so, wouldn't Facilier get her by the deal? Maybe Jack's helping Facilier by luring her to him. I could see them working together - after all, they're both swaggy motherfuckers who make deals with evil entities stronger than them and get away with their souls intact. Jack's got the Black Pearl from Davy Jones, Facilier's got his Friends.
>>36058745I agree: the Friends like collaterals.
>>36058516I think perhaps we should give 8 or 9 points instead of 7? It just feels too low: the average hero stat is supposed to be 8 for our current math to work.10 skill points/3 Traits okay then? What we should get done today: A pile of generic traits, the basics of how classes work, a general timeline of character progression.
>>36058738Hook is a native in never land and he took the influence that Peter held when he killed him.The influence that Peter held was given to him by Wendy when she made him the hero of her stories.
>>36058776Facilier wants the Dreamers, but the moment he gets one of them, their Dream Realm falls into the Other Side. It'simportant that, at the start of the game, Facilier still has to get his hands on even one of the Dreamers. Wendy must be somewhere else.
We seriously shoving in Big Hero 6 guy despite it clashing just to fill a space despite the whole modern setting thing? Disapoint /tg/
>>36058825We're talking about it, but it hasn't been decided.
>>36058825any alternatives that aren't 'give to ursula' or 'give to atlantis' are welcome
>>36058811Good, very good.>>36058803I agree: 8 across the board should be normal for the Heroes. I initially suggested that, but then some one said it was too high. And yes, 10 skills are good. Should we cap how many points can go into each Skill? Maybe based on Tier (Zero, On a Roll, Hero)?
>>36058825Fill all the spaces! The autism commands it!

For japan, maybe have that be a bastion of the 'good spirits' of the Eastern world? in the way that S America is where the good fae are hiding
>>36058849I thought 8 was the average. Above that and you are better than average, below and you are worse. That's why the starting point was 4 and the max was 12. Are we changing that?
>>36058906We decided that 7 is the average for the common man: the average guy as a 7 in every Attribute. Stil enough to reach 20 with a Trained Skill and a 10 on the roll.
>>360589257 was average for normal person, yes, but 8 was average for a hero.
>>36058825Personally speaking, I still think giving Japan to the Huns is the best option, leaving Big Hero 6 to be included in this setting's more modern and futuristic sequel.
>>36058938Yes: a Hero should be able to start with a 8 in every Attribute. A good way to do this would be giving everyone a 6 in every Attribute, plus 10 points to spread around.
>>36058942>>36058913>>36058896I agree: everything but Hero 6. We should leave that in the future.

>>36058963At that point, why not return to 20 points and every stat starts at 4 for larger flexibility if someone really wants to optimize in a Disney RPG?Counterpoint: We really shouldn't be focusing on optimization.Three Ideals is key. Following Ideals gives XP or whatever the equivalent is called. But should actively following them give bonuses to certain rolls like Heretekmarine was suggesting last thread? Should we include negative ideals, like vices? How many Goals should we require each player have, given that they are key to advancing up the tiers? 2? 3? 4??Should we bother with a gear listing, given that most weapons are kind of interchangeable?

Maleficent KLRKing: Maleficent the Malevolent, Queen of the Faeries - Mistress of all Evils. There are few lords are capricious and cruel as Maleficent. In the years since her killing of Prince Phillip, she has expanded her area of influence to much of France and Spain. Whilst many of these lands are theoretically under the rule of the Pontifex Immortalis, apart from the area surrounding her castle and the Kingdom of Thorns, she is more feared than even the dreaded Inquisition. She will kill or torment or alter mortals for little to no reason at all - because they whistled on a Thursday, or they did not leave a space for her at their table, or they mispronounced the name of one of her fellow lords. They may be eaten from the inside out by ants, or have their eyeballs melt and regrow somewhere else, or transform them into a lowly worm in a thrush's nest. She leads hosts of fey in wild hunts of peasants and nobles alike for the slightest crime or imagined insult.Land: Realm of the Fair and Gentle - The fae lands are surprisingly beautiful, in a wild, feral fashion. The fair folk inhibit progress and encourage nature's growth. Villages and hamlets may be suddenly overgrown in a matter of days because a woodking desired it so. Forests move and hunt down woodcutters. Grass fae swarm like locusts over the unsuspecting. It is a land of ten-thousand dangers. Areas where the Inquisition are strong have less of a fairy presence, but have their own rather obvious problem. The people of the Fae Lands are paranoid and jumpy, have odd speech patterns to avoid obscure words and phrases that may anger the Gentry and are fearful of outsiders.
>>36058597So, was sensibility wisdom/empathy? And does that have anything to do with one's chances of bursting into song? I'm just trying to figure out what kind of stat array I would give to a guy who functions as the group's grumpy straight man to whom, despite the cheery protestations, musical numbers are an anathema and will do, at most, a monologue with verse, rhyme and background music.Yes, yes, it's Disney, but every now and then it's fun to play against type.
>>36059152No Hero should go around with a 4 in something: no one should be allowed to completely dump Charisma or Sensibility in a Disney setting, or at least we shouldn't encourage them.
>>36059197Rule: ALL THE POWERS OF HELL - Maleficent's reaction to the players will be the same as any other traveller - whimsical evil. She may assault them as soon as they step into her domain, she may harass them for the smallest slight, or she may not bother them at all until they approach her castle or the Kingdom of Thorns. She may encourage or prevent faerie attacks on them, she might lead a Wild Hunt against them, or set a white stag or questing beast to tire them out in fruitless chase.
>>36059236I don't think he's got anything dumped, he just took a huge disadvantage that penalizes his Charisma until people get to know him.Are we going to include disadvantages? Negative Traits of a sort?
>>36059236his looks are penalized, his personality is not
>>36059199Perception and Sense Motive. It's how much focused you're on your surroundings and on the people around you. It's got nothing to do with penchant for musical numbers.>>36059236Quasimodo was ugly. Charisma has nothing to do with beauty. He wasn't weak, he wasn't horribly clumsy, he was stupid, he wasn't insensible and didn't lack Charisma.
>>36059199For that matter, what are our mechanics for musical numbers? You can't have a Disney game without musical numbers....
>>36059296You're using Charisma and Music to deal strikes against your enemies, or to buff people around you.
>>36059304So everyone is a bard?
>>36059317Someone is better than others. Maybe only the classes focused on Sensibility or Charisma can do some of the most spectural things with their songs, like converting evil minions to the good side or enthralling hordes of them. But yes, everyone is at least a tiny little bit of a bard. Because Disney.
>>36059296from thread 4>Also, on a second note, I think that every character should have access to a musical trait. It's just for silly fun, but some like "If you can make some lyrics, you get a bonus during this sequence." because, c'mon, Disney.>Just a little idea but maybe one trait is musically gifted, which makes the characters get bonuses for certain scenes, then have a trait that is "I don't sing", characters will never break out into song, and will often be completely overlooked by enemies, or considered less of a threat than other players.
>>36059287I don't even think he was stupid, at least not inherently; he never had the chance to learn critical thinking.
>>36059317Nah, but bards could have a special that turns a 'stage' into a musical, so you could breeze your way through a fight or something.>Over the course of the song, players have to make their actions and conversations rhyme

Okay so consensus seems to be that Big Hero 6 is out. Japan will go to the Huns and California will be divided up between wild west, doomtown and the Spirit realm. I'm on my phone atm, but we should start thinking on how to divide up the east indies
disney is cultural genocide turned profitable enterprise
>>36059361This is the thing I love most about this whole Disney campaign idea.Imagine being one of the players, not realising who you were fighting until you climb your way up the steps of Notre Dame and suddenly you realise the DM has been playing the melody to Hellfire this entire time.Slow and quiet at first, but then smashing into you as a crescendo when Frollo is revealed.

>>36059561Nah, shes over in Australia making designer clothing out of monsters for the Hunters Guild.
>>36059561I saw somebody mention earlier the idea that she was with the Global hunters club. Making coats and other fur based accessories out of their trophies and turning a profit with the other trade-amenable realms
>>36059566Do you mean escapism or scapegoatism?
>>36059528I would think the Imperial Museum's version of Atlantean History is a bit off from the truth, or at least in recent history. I can only imagine the sections dedicated to the fall of Atlantis, brought beneath the ocean by the jealous Greek Gods, and their rise to the surface by the Imperial President.
>>36059566Why exactly do you think we give a fuck? We're making a fucking RPG based off of children's moves, we don't care about >muh cultural appropriationIf you don't have something to contribute or critique that people care about, just don't bother posting.

>>36059603I thought Rourke wasn't pretending to be a native? Though he could be playing himself up as the savior of the Altanteans. They did fall a long way when they got sunk under the sea, after all.
>>36059586Oh, if we have the Pirates of the Caribbean too, then that actually works out nicely. Is the east India trading company it's own realm or a subsidiary of Hook?
>>36059603Clearly, Roarke wouldn't bother with telling the truth because that makes him look really, really bad and he's running a cult of personality at this point. >>36059590Is Australia a viable starting point for player characters? By the way, I seriously hope Yzma is a talking cat in this world as well.
>>36059713they're also the main inter-contenental transport, since ursula sinks anyone who tries to cross her ocean, but they're immune for reasons
>>36059668>>36059713The EITC are technically the good guys right? They're probably still around, delivering goods and what not to various towns that are on the coast.Don't know how they get past Ursula though.
Okay, once I get back to my computer I'll fix up the most recent map. Someone should write up a k/l/r for the east India company
>>36059748>The EITC are technically the good guysNope, they are lawful evil, with the pirates being chaotic neutral.
>>36059735I think what we were going with was that Ursula has to be there in person to summon up the huge monster storms and the like, and local sea life isn't tough enough to take on Atlantean submarines. Basically they slip through the net by nature of being moderately sneaky and too much to handle without a serious response that's too far away to get to their location in time if spotted by some shark somewhere. The Ulysses was a tough sub, now imagine the kind of hurt it could put on even the likes of a giant squid if it had some of those lightning beams.
>>36059748I haven't seen the Pirates movies in a long time, but I do remember that they were pretty evil
>>36059671Australia is hell on earth, a harsh and unforgiving land, covered in beasts so fierce they make lions and tigers and bear look nice. If the monstrous dragons don't get you then the sun will, so blistering hot you dry up in a hour if you don't have water. It's a god-forsaken land that few dare traverse and fewer still return. So, yeah, a pretty nice place to live in this setting.
>>36059713Shipping would be limited, realistically, to coastal deliveries unless escorted by a power strong enough to make Ursula back the hell off, or unless escorted by pirates. The seas of the Atlantic are, sadly, pretty much completely controlled by pirates. It's a nightmare, goods delivery is highly unreliable and there's little to no trade because nobody expects it to actually make it through. Atlantis still ships experts, immigrants, etc from europe to work in their country because they have enough political and military power to deal with the pirates.>>36059769If the pirates are under the control of Captain Hook, they're Chaotic Evil and only under the control of a strong leader do they work together. Is Captain Jack Sparrow still alive? Is Davy Jones still roaming around?
Okay, so about singing: When you sing, you and anyone who sings with you gets the associated bonus. However, anyone with the No-Singing Trait can only, at best, keep rhyme and verse, getting only half the bonus. Thoughts on what benefits the No-Singing Trait gives in return:>Always has a bonus equal to half his own theoretical singing bonus, so long as he isn't singing or keeping Rhyme and Verse>OR>Gains bonuses from enemies' songs. This leads to many villains being abruptly cut short.
>>36059748They could just pay her a tribute. The forces of capitalism always find a way.
>>36059769I'd think that either the EITC would stop caring about pirates primarily and start helping the world.OROne of the other higher pirates; Barbossa, Sparrow, hell even Teague, have taken it over and are using the manpower to do a proper job of things. With all the magic ships they could probably get away from Ursula.
>>36059787So the only change from real life is that there's fewer poisonous bugs? I thought this setting generally made things worse, not better.
>>36059671not sure, my character would be a smart guy from Black Louisiana

So far, it's 1 vs 6 on the BH6 poll. 25 people in the thread, right? We'll give it an hour, and if neither side has hit 13 votes by then, we'll just give it to the majority.
>>36059671I totally said it should be a Skill, just like Craft. Check the old thread.

It was five in the morning where I was.Craft is also not a skill yet. Not sure if I should add it, Craft doesn't seem like something very heroic...What should classes do? Should they give unique bonuses to stats with their skill roll, or is that too generic?
>>36059940>>36059975And what if we consider 4?Blackbeard gets the Fountain of Youth, another major pirate to contend with. I'm sure we can pull one of the other characters out of that battle without anyone noticing, so they can lead a naval force. In fact, keeping with the whole HEROES ARE DEEEEAD theme, why not have Joshamee Gibbs instead of Sparrow or Barbossa?
>>36060025I think Blackbeard vs. Hook for the position of immortal pirate king sounds pretty good
>>36059995Crafting covers stuff like painting and shit. Rapunzel liked to paint.
>>36060025Because beating the heroes doesn't necessarily mean killing them. Jack might have been forced to join up with Hook, doesn't mean he's not been defeated. Neither does it mean he's not considering double-crossing Hook and running away.
>>36059995There are plenty of heroes who make things, they just don't spend a huge amount of time on it.Vinny, for example, makes his own explosive. It comes up from time to time, usually as a joke or a sight gag.
>>36060049I just want to see a world with no Jack Sparrow, mostly to get the fangirls out of here.Let's face it.A world without Jack Sparrow? You know things have gone to shit.
So, how much more needs to be done with chargen?
>>36060072Chocke full of fangirls on /tg/ mate, for sure.
>>36060049This. we had this discussion with Genie before. Don't go around killing interesting characters when there is a good way of putting them into the setting.
>>36060025Barbossa is only a "hero" in the barest sense of the word. I'm pretty sure if he and hero are mentioned in the same sentence, quotes automatically pop up. Jack, on the other hand, I can't really see being dead (but that's just personal bias) he's way too self-serving. Also, it gives the GM a great character to roleplay and someone to actually like in the shithole that is Tortuga+Neverland.>>36060048>>36060053So, do we think Craft should be in as a skill? (I think Vinnie's explosives fit better under Ranged Weapon, but I can see where you're coming from) >>36060076Still need to decide how many skills we'll get. So far we've got attributes starting at 6 with between 7 and 9 points ( think 9 is better personally but who am i to decide), need to decide exactly how Ideals work, and need to decide if homelands give traits or not. We'll need some generic traits, but our trait creation seems to work okay at the moment. Anyone want me to throw up a quickly generated character to test the waters?
>>36059850>The BBEG laughs at him>Descends upon him to mock him>Starts his own song>Turns his back to the PC>PC catches breath, gets up, raises weapon>Halfway through his chorus, the villain turns back just in time to see his own deathblow>Whether decapitated, impaled through the heart or what have you, the villain's face is now painted with shock and disbelief, an expression they will wear until the flesh rots from their face.>And the last thing they ever hear?>The PC finishing the villain's chorus, just rhyme and verse of course.
>>36060100I think we should add Craft, for stuff like making traps and building stuff. Also, I think Linguistics should totally be a Skill: it gives you languages and it covers stuff like deciphering ancient hieroglyphics and reading ancient tomes of forgotten wisdom.

>>36056960sorry finally arrivedTarin is obviously dead. with arthur being as well, makes sense (then again there is the possability merlin lost to mim and arthur then gets trained by mim, and eventually serves The Horned King. however since this would imply merlins dead, this idea is moot.)whilst Camelot was not disney and could also if arthur is dead before he becomes king rather then after, then obviously they shouldent be in.However and id just like to make this point, Ruben would be the perfect right hand man to The Horned King and would make the setting far more interesting then just undead land.he used black magic to turn his men into constructs, whilst The Horned King turned his men into the undead. Now combine the two>Heroes here would have to deal with Bone Construct Henchmen - They cannot be disarmed, and killing them is extremely difficult, with them being loyal to their master.it makes it 10x more obvious why the Kingdom Of The Cauldron is a non-starting zone for heroes

Kind of.. morally ambiguous, but whatever works in this blighted hellscape, amirite?Maybe we go with constant half-song bonus, and every time he fails when a full song bonus from a player who is singing at the time would've allowed him to succeed, the GM would grant one of the following benefits, depending on which they think is appropriate:>gains one heart point or whatever we're calling them now>succeeds anyways, but suffers comedic misfortune of some sortFor the second one, picture the party travelling across the wilderness with the face singing some merry tune. Most of the party gets along just fine. Mister No-Singing, on the other, keeps up but along the way he gets in between a mother bear and her cubs, enrages a large hive of bees, steps on a cougar's tail, walks through poison ivy, breaks a log as he's walking on it to pass over a waterfall, etc.

>>36060924Yes, but nothing pigeonholing like a +1 to hit with slings or bullshit like that: every class should be equally viable for every race.

Alright, it's been an hour. The poll is officially closed and any votes from this point on will not be counted. The results are 12 against BH6 and 3 for. The Eastern Co-Prosperity Sphere or whatever it's called is officially non-canon. Editing 1d4chan now. Carto, we'll need a new map.
>>36061002>Frollo's got spies everywhere, dreaming of the day when it'll be just him and his God.Shit, it's beautiful: he's making amends for his lust by devoting himself to his new God and nothing else! It really playes well with his Hellfire theme: even after he won, he's still conflicted and angry at the world.
>>36061017Well, non canon: it's canon that it'll exist in the future if Evil is defeated.
>>360610And the editing is complete. Also, Bod, thanks for expanding on the strikes system, I wasn't sure how to describe it since nothing's set in stone yet.
>>36060974If different races don't play differently then what's the point of having them? I'd go even further than that and say that, since something like musclefairies really shouldn't be viable, we have to give them traits to reflect that.
>>36061091Meant as a reply to >>36061017
>>36061109Damn it, man: they should give different bonuses, but don't make any class clearly better than the others for members of that races: no bonuses to Melee, but stuff like being alway to see in the darkness or to never get lost in a forest.
>>36061109This is a Disney movie as an RPG. What is 'viable' shouldn't be important. Sure, It'd probably make sense to give Atlaneans and Westerners bonuses to Ranged Combat, to simulate their practical experience, but if we do that then all ranged fighters are going to be from Atlantis or the Wild West, because most people naturally want the most effective character. I'd rather give bonuses to non-combat skills and minor little flavor traits. For the moment, by the way, we're assuming that everyone is Human with the stats system. Beasts and Faeries, etc. are going to need a different racial caps.>>36061173Anon here gets it. We really don't want to see a 'best possible party' consisting of an Atlantis gunman, a Arthurian knight, a Incan sage, and a French face or something like that.
>>36061109Why? Wasn't Tinker Bell able to swing around a sword? They've got fairie dust, man: they can lift whatever they want.
>>36061173With guys like Pixies, I think they should get the super-powerful bonus of being able to fly, but also the super-shit weakness of being weak as fuck. Seriously, they probably have, like, 1 strength.>>36061217Since fairy dust could just fix everything from what we've seen, I think we should make it so that PC pixies can't actually produce it. Otherwise they'd just be OP as shit.
>>36061217MUSCLE FAIRIES ARE A GO!WE ROBUST NOW!
>>36061207>The French>Good facesBetween the Inquisition and the Fey, I doubt that. The Agrabaites would probably be better.
>>36061242Pixies can only produce faerie dust in Neverland, and even then they can only produce enough faerie dust to support their own impossible physiology. Boom, problem solved, since most games are going to be outside Neverland anyway. Still need good class bonuses.
>>36061217Perhaps we make power requirements to lift certain items, and then other requirements to do shit like throw said items or wield them as weapons. Pixie Dust allows you to reduce the required power to lift an object.
>>36061284How about the Fighter class gains a natural bonus to Defense even if they aren't wearing armour? Meanwhile, the Sage has the Know Your Enemy trait - once per day, he can roll to get some random piece of useful information about an enemy or objective. A weakness or a motivation, perhaps.
>>36061242Eh: so we get fairies as the perfect race for Nimble guys and that's it.>>36061284Here we go: outside of Never Land they can only make enough dust to fly around and lift shit. Also, great idea, in the outside world there are so many sad thoughts going around that they can only fly slowly (at the speed of a normal man) and low to the ground.Genius!
>>36061217That's precisely the point though. A fairy wielding double katans should play differently from a human, and a lion shouldn't be wielding weapons whatsoever. I a agree that all races should be able to perform the role of a fighter, but each should have to go about it differently.
>>36061341They'd probably also get bonuses to Charisma. They're generally good at getting people to like them.
>>36061372>a lion shouldn't be wielding weapons whatsoeverWhat about lances, or metal claws, or mounted laser cannons from Atlantis?
>>36061406>mounted laser cannons from AtlantisYeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
For the fairies I'd say: a bonus to Dodge, which is good for every class, plus low to the ground and not too fast flying. The rest of their powers, outside of Never land, are entirely focused on keeping them alive and able to lift shit.>>36061380I don't agree: Tinker Bell has always been an unlikeable cunt. Fairies are annoying, man.
>>36061406Maybe a quadruped could pull a Great Grey Wolf Sif, or a bird could hold a weapon in its talons.>>36061420If we have some kind of appearance stat, they should at least get a bonus to that. Deny that you'd put your dick in Tink if it'd fit, I dare you.
>>36061420bonus to charisma when deling with people who have a fairy fetish, upon meeting a character, roll to see whether they're into that kind of kinky bullshit.
>>36061406NO, NO FUN! FAIRIES ARE WEAK AND FAST AND LIONS ARE LIONS, FUCK YOU!
>>36061420Fairies would be able to fit through tiny gaps and do all kinds of nonsense that other races don't. Why is them not being able to lift heavy things or break down doors a problem to you? I think their utility more than makes up for it.
>>36061443We don't: every hero is good looking in a Disney movie, with Quasimodo as the only exception and that's a flaw he took in exchange for more traits. Mystical allies, probably.
>>36061469>>36061406Now I want to play a bear with a laser cannon. >>36061380>>36061420Probably bonuses to Charm and a bonus to Dodge against physical attacks. >>36061443We're assuming everyone who is a hero is good looking -- this is DISNEY, after all. What if instead of worshipping or recognizing Chernabog as the auperior, the villains try their beat to keep his order going because they know that if something starts going too wrong, he might just get out of his throne and nobody wanta to deal with the ensuing shitstorm, even if it's not against them.Wasn't there a thing back on those threads that said that if Chernabog ever started getting too expansionist, EVERYONE would team up to stop him?Maybe Frollo by now is on a weird state of still trying to pretend he follows his old faith but his corruption is just too deep into his bones. Not only his phylactery is keeping him there, but also whatever heaven may be left that he believes in, it won't take him because of all the sin.It only makes a possible redemption or realization moment upon his defeat and hearing the bells again even more feelsy.
>>36061513Because I don't want a race that would be mechanically discouraged from being a Fighter.
>>36061406>mounted laser cannons from AtlantisIs Atlantis guarded by Laser Sharks?
>>36061619Sharks with frickin' laser beams on their frickin' heads, yes.http://disney.wikia.com/wiki/Robot_Shark
>>36061513>>36061601Best I can do, as a compromise, is a huge penalty to Athletics: they have problems with breaking down shit, but their fairy dust allows them to lift a sword or a bow and use them without problems.
I really think that, outside of situations where you need to somehow pass by his lands or are going to fight him, Chernobog should have little mention outside of his realm. Villains don't need to worship him or respect him and he doesn't need to smacked down by them for being 'expansionist' because he's Evil itself. He's acting THROUGH the villains and all the lands they own are technically his because again, he's the Evil that propelled them to take control wether through the bombastic over-the-top falls to evil or the siren whispers in their ears to do just a little more it'll be alright. Beyond being widely blamed for what's happened to the world, he shouldn't be mentioned at all. No one worships him because that gets his attention (which is bad). No one curses him because that would get his attention (which is bad). No one says they are fighting him because that gets his attention (which is REALLY bad).
>>36061735Nobody speaks his name. Outside his lands all it does is cause everyone to give you a wide, wide berth. In his lands... now you've drawn his attention, insect.Honestly, every villain needs to think that THEY are the important one, so I can't see anyone worshipping Chernabog except maybe Frollo.
>>36061601What kind of reasoning is that? We are talking about different species here. If giant sentient snails were a playable race, would you suggest that there shouldn't be a penalty to their agility in the interest of 'opposing racial discrimination'?
>>36061564Should we say that all animals have natural weapons, like claws, teeth, talons, that sort of thing, but unless a weapon is specifically designed for them like the aforementioned mounted lasers then they have to wield it awkwardly like in your pic and take -something to attack rolls?>>36061810The point is, we want anyone to be able to do anything that the system lets them do. Racial bonuses don't effect the things everyone can do.
>>36061810Yes. Yes I would.Optimization is the enemy, and we should yield no ground to it or quite rapidly we'll be seeing 'THIS IS THE BEST PARTY' posts.Faeries are magical. Just because one uses it's pixie dust to give it impossible strength for something of it's size doesn't mean it shouldn't be allowed to do that.
>>36061785Even then I don't see Frollo worshipping him at least openly Maybe if he was tricked into thinking that he was worshipping God but wasn't, yeah but otherwise, nah.
>>36061735I think that Frollo, being the evil cleric, should be the only one to worship Chernobog. Everyone else just knows that he's the source of all inhuman evil, but they never talk about him and just ignore him. Maybe they only ask him for counseling when the forces of Good start getting dangerous.>>36061810No, I think they shouldn't be a playable race. Also, why a penalty to Dexterity? Just make them slow: we are doing Disney, not biology.
I think that we'd need to give some races things like different fighting styles to try and bullshit our way into punch fairies and shitMake faeries have to go ORAORAORAORAORA with some BS fist magic to deal proper damage instead of just using weapons
>>36061893We could just give fairies tiny weapons that are enchanted to deal more damage. Or poisoned, perhaps.
>>36061893>kenshiro faeries>incredibly high pitched "You are already dead" or pantomimed version thereof>enemy explodes into pixie dustI can get behind it.
>>36061893That's fluff: it doesn't need to be reflected in the crunch. The fairies hit after a flying charge, okay, but there's no need to make a rule for that.
>>36061893>faeries use their magic to summon ghostly hands to punch alongside themFund it
>>36061893That seems reasonable. Fairies deal less damage per hit, but they get a chance to chain it into a combo, the odds of which are calculated in such a way that the overall damage done is the same.
A reminder to include the 1d4chan page in the next thread OP so that we don't need to post it 3-4 times in the thread itself.http://1d4chan.org/wiki/Disney_villains_victorious
>>36061925>>36061932>>36061955>>36061956So same mechanics, different explanation? Okay.
>>36061956So Fairy Fighter are the combo monks? I actually really like this mechanoc. Give the special skill Combo or Chain Hit to Fairy Fighters and we're golden. Give the race a penalty for strenght, but that skill/trait nulifies it? If you're playing a fighter, that is.Sounds a bit unbalanced to make them take a trait just for it tho.
>>36062032There's no real reason to add the trait, just give an explaination that explains their robustness is a combination of faerie magic and persistence/speed
It looks like we need another thread and another archiving. I can take care of the archiving.
>>36061981Perhaps we can say that Fairies take a -2 to attack rolls with regular weapons, because strength is irrelevant, you're wielding a sword with a hilt that you can't wrap your hands around. That's got to be awkward to use. Pixie weapons don't have this weakness, but can't be wielded by humans or human-sized individuals. They avoid the natural attack reduction. Pixie fighters are often taught to attack in certain locations where their blades can deal damage - the wrists, the eyes, the throat, sometimes the back of the neck or the opponent's pressure points. As such, they deal the same damage as normal weapons by targeting strategic weak points.
PUNCH FAERIES ARE A GO.Does that mean that someone could homebrew Maleficent into Jotaro'ing the shit out of the party instead of using magic? Or only pixies?Either way, I am happy with it
Did we just get through two threads in a day? We're getting some crazy shit done right now, guys. Keep it up.
>>36062105I like this guy.Someone find some pussy to give him
>>36062105So a penalty with no bonus to compensate. That seems like a bad idea.>>36062131Never underestimate NEETs with a vision.
>>36062105Still acting like everything evens out, are we? Wouldn't that technique be far stronger against armored opponents than that of human fighters? And wouldn't it be completely useless when faced with a sufficiently large foe? Your unwillingness to give different races different traits creates an immersion-breaking, unintuitive mess of a system.
>>36062174The bonus to compensate for fairies not being very good with regular weaponry is that they can attack multiple times or something (I wasn't really reading the punch fairy posts), fly and fit through tiny spaces. Sounds good to me.
