Hello all! I'm rather new to /tg/ but I've enjoyed reading through quest threads and I thought I'd try my hand at one of my own. Apologies if I stumble on board etiquette here or there, please let me know if I do so I can work on it.A sad state of affairs, isn't it? Over a century since the War of the Lions, yet the children of Ivalice continue to die in battle. History, it would seem, is a poor tutor to those who wield power in the realms of men. I see that you, too, have seen conflict. Perhaps your fate will be a happier one than that of so many lost children before you. Tell me about yourself, that I might follow your deeds.Name:Gender:Birthdate:Origin: [Gallione/Fovoham/Lionel/Lesalia/Zeltennia/Limberry]Tell me also of your background in life.> Royal: I am of the royal family of Ivalice> Noble: I am heir to land and title> Gentle: I am of good family and position, with means and social status> Master: I have a good position with my liege and have few wants> Merchant: My work defines me and provides me standing in society> Peasant: I have little worth in society except for the fruits of my laborLastly, do tell me of your role in the conflicts of Ivalice.> Squire: I train in the arts of combat and fight on the front lines> Chemist: I study mysterious arts and tend to the injured

I'll admit that it's been a bit since I've play FFT all the way through from start to finish, but given the setting wouldn't a child who was born both male and female probably be viewed as a curse or something to be hidden or destroyed? I don't remember the Ivalicians being especially progressive or anything like that.
>>36000083Agreed with this chap*sips mtn dew*
>>36000133It would definitely be something to hide and be ashamed of
>>36000133>but given the setting wouldn't a child who was born both male and female probably be viewed as a curse or something to be hidden or destroyed?Hidden, most likely yes. Considering that they would have trouble all throughout puberty and with relationships, creating conflict and relationships based upon it.
>>35999594Is this dick and balls, or dick and vag? Clarification is needed
>>36000129If it becomes necessary I'll use a tripcode.
>>36000166Latter. Futanari is typically Dick without balls + Vagina. Shemale is typically Vagina + Dick with balls
>>36000186There are QM's who have been running for several years now without the need for a tripcode. It really depends on the player base and how many trolls the quest is likely to attract
>>36000188What's even the point then? There's no reason to have a dick if you don't got the balls.
>>36000254...Well, given the start to this one, maybe it's not a terrible idea. Though I guess we'll see if there are any copycats.
>>36000275I think the balls are internal with Futanari.
>>36000054There's another quest that has a futa MC, and it's not lewd or smut at all.
>>36000362It gets lewd, anon.
>>36000188Shemales are Tits + Dick with balls, they don't have vaginas.Shemales are real, while futanari are not.
>>36000054You should ignore the futa crowd cause otherwise you will probably get constant people trying to turn it into that kind of quest.
>>36000133Imagine the awkwardness of puberty, the changes in your body and the discovery of new sensations... That you can't really share with anybody because neither of the ordinary genders is quite like you and you have no way to know what is right and what is wrong considering your peculiarity.Imagine the awkward and embarrassing first experiences of an ordinary person with relationships and sex. Now add in that you're never quite what people expect you to be, in a way that will have to make them reconsider their interest in you, and you have absolutely no reference or nobody to help you understand how you go about your situation. Now add onto that the shame of religion, and more social influences created by religion. That's the sort of shit that builds good characters.>>36000374Not if it's the one I'm thinking about.

Pro tip QM narrow down char gen choices and give them to us one at time. A list of fill ins just gives us the chance to abuse it and can take forever.
You are Celeste, the daughter of a good house in the royal capital, Lesalia. Growing up, you've gotten to see first hand the wonders of progress that have come to Ivalice - steam engines that do the work of ten men, a new Iron Road that moves people and goods across great distances, and an end to the civil wars that once plagued this fair kingdom. You have been given an opportunity to squire with the Knights of the Crescent, the personal forces of the King himself, and placement in a top class as befits your birth and standing. This is now your third year as a knight cadet, squiring with your fellows under Sir Mathis. You've managed to remain among the best of the class and are among a select eight who will be accompanying Sir Mathis on an excursion to the Iron Road construction taking place in Goland. Five of you are trained squires, while the other three studied as chemists and will be appraising the geology of the rock that the Iron Road is being built on.The ladies' barracks have already packed; you, your fellow squire Joruun and the two chemists (Nia and Belle) are waiting for the rest. Nia is looking over a book with Belle and comparing notes, while Joruun is talking to Sir Mathis about the trip.> Join the chemists and see what they're up to.> Join Joruun and learn more about the trip.> Go outside to find something to do while you wait.> Go bother the men to hurry up.> Other?

>>36001253Well, I was. I don't see why anyone else would be voting differently, considering I doubt OP is going to go into smutty territories.
Timeline-wise, we're a century past Final Fantasy Tactics and somewhat before Vagrant Story.

>>36001063>>> Join Joruun and learn more about the trip.Shame about the futa bit, but it's an understandable veto. Would have made for some unfortunate implications and assumptions with us being in the women's barracks.
Joruun gives you a quick grin as you walk over. Out of your class, she's the most lighthearted by far. She mimes Sir Mathis's outrageous gesticulating as she asks him a question."Sir," she says, "I understand why the chemists" - big two-handed gesture their way - "are going to inspect the Iron Road construction, but why would they send us?" Hand on chest. "Is there danger" - clenched fist now - "to the builders?"You stifle a smirk as Sir Mathis responds, waving his hands as he does. "Cadet Joruun, I know the second class has been filling your head with talk of rioters, but this is a perfectly mundane assignment, I assure you. We'll ride down on chocobo and be there in a few days' time, at which point we shall surely take advantage of the opportunity to practice our tactics on rough terrain."Joruun looks put out at the thought of not getting to ride the train, and you can't blame her. A luxurious trip on the Iron Road versus a bumpy outdoor trek on a smelly bird... it's not really a contest. Sir Mathis hasn't noticed you until now, and he looks down and adjusts his cravat."Can I help you, Cadet Celeste?"> Ask about the rioters> Ask about Goland> Ask another question> Other
>>36002338>Ask about the rioters

>>36002905Because most players are cancer, especially American day and early night time. There's probably a few who legit want to see a good female playable character; most likely just want to fap to their moe yuri garbage.
His explanation strikes you as a little too expedient, a bit too rehearsed. You decide to press him a bit."Sir Mathis," you ask, "the rumors of unrest aren't just coming from the second class. What is it that we keep hearing about? Was there a riot?"Sir Mathis looks affronted to be asked. Clearly he thought the matter was already settled. "There are no riots in Lesalia. The King's Peace is still in order. Surely you squires have better things to do than to make hay of a few rabble-rousers making off with a boat."He shouldn't have said that; he just baited his own hook. "But Sir Mathis," you press, "unit training exercises are supposed to be completed in tandem with support troops. We can't very well do tactical training if the chemists are occupied. Is that the only reason we're being sent out?"The old knight's face is turning a bit red. "That's all the reason you need concern yourself with. I expect better from the first class. Next you'll be telling me about ghosts and moogles and God only knows what else. Where are those boys at? We're running behind."Sir Mathis comes close to smacking you by accident with how frantic his arms flail. He waves you off. Joruun walks beside you as you get away from the knight."So we're going to guard against rioters, then?" she whispers conspiratorially. "Our first real mission! What do you think, Celeste?"> Sir Mathis is probably right. A boat has nothing to do with a train.> We're probably backup; they're sending us to look good. Lurker/Samefag rollcall. 21 character gen votes vs 3 story votes: who's not voting and who's voting as much as it takes to get what they want? I'm just lurking so I didn't vote.

>>36003786I didn't care about the sex as much as social status for the final char gen vote. I'd prefer to play a peasant, but as long as we're not a noble I don't care.
>>36003899That makes sense, the male noble option may as well have been Ramza. I'd definitely play a female merchant though.
You nod agreement with Joruun as you walk over to join the two chemists. "I think there's more trouble than he's letting on. This is the first time I've heard of riots in the kingdom and they're not denying it."Joruun gives you a nonplussed look, then grins. "Right, I forgot, you've never been outside the capital. I grew up in Limberry, and I can tell you that there's a lot of unrest out there. I'm glad my family sent me here to join the knighthood."You catch the tail end of Nia and Belle's discussion about magical elements just as the boys come out of their barracks. Markil is first out, and he comes right over to your group like an eager puppy."I hope you weren't waiting too long, ladies. I was done packing half an hour ago. I told the others to get their things in order but, well, you know them." He looks around with a smile on his face, looking for agreement. Joruun gives him a friendly pat on the shoulder and heads off to meet the other squires, leaving you with three chemists and their packs full of bottles and herbs.Nia gets your attention by pulling on your sleeve. She's the smallest cadet, barely sixteen but an accomplished student. "Celeste," she manages quietly, "what did Sir Mathis say about our assignment? I heard someone has threatened to attack the Iron Road."Anything you hoped to say on the matter is cut off as Sir Mathis walks up leading the rest of the class. Torrance is lurking at the back as usual, with Ivan at the head of the pack and Joruun walking with big Lewis. You hope that there really is nothing to worry about - eight cadets doesn't seem to be enough to contend with any amount of trouble."Your class will be forming up behind the wagons," Sir Mathis says, "with the drivers and scouts ahead." Scouts? Back formation? No, this definitely does not sound anything like the training exercise you were told of. Unless they mean to stage something...
"Cadet Torrance," the knight barks as you all hit the stables, "you are in charge of your class. Arrange your formation for tactical approach. This is a training exercise." The knight walks off, and Torrance shuffles glumly over to the rest of you."Um, so, everyone get your chocobo, and ride wherever." Typical. The rest are probably going to be all too happy to ride along with friends unless someone actually takes charge. Five squires, three chemists. The birds smell just as bad as you remember, but you mount your chocobo anyway. Surely the smell will clear out once you get outdoors. Now, what to do about your "marching orders?"> I'll get to spend time with friends as well, let's do it his way.> Create a formation. You decide to let everyone do as they like until you leave the confines of the city, after which you'll organize a formation. You fall back with Joruun, Lewis and the chemists as Ivan gleefully races ahead and Torrance shuffles along. How he found a chocobo as listless as himself you'll never know.Within the hour you're at the southern gates of Lesalia. You see two white robed priests of the Glabados Church standing just outside as you ride out. One is holding up his hands and chanting, while the other is sitting down and taking a meal. A strange ringing echoes in your ears briefly, high-pitched like the chiming of tiny bells, and you feel a slight pressure against your skin from the air. The sensation fades immediately, but now you feel a chill that wasn't there a moment ago. You look at the others and see nothing out of the ordinary - and of course, there's Joruun with a grin on her face."It's Celeste's first time outside the city, troops." Everyone nods in understanding. Joruun rides over to you. "You've never felt that before. Welcome to the world outside the capital.""What was that?" you ask, baffled. Joruun waves her hand over at the priests as you ride past, and you can hear a fragment of the chant: "Shield beyond sight, ne'er failing light, ward off the night...""The church blesses the big cities to keep evil out," she explains. "Out here, God's blessing is... well, let's say it takes a more personal touch." Nia mutters something under her breath that the others ignore. The land is... different than you expected. Where you thought things would be lush and green, instead the sky is clouded and the earth brown. The forests in the distance look dark and uninviting, and even the water in the river next to the road is turbulent, a deep blue line to the horizon with small waves lapping across its surface. The wagons you pass are driven by people who do not meet your eye. That chill might not be just the air. You decide it's time for formation.
You consider your fellow squires for formation. You've got Torrance, who's quick with a thrown stone to distract enemies; Lewis, who throws himself into every fight and usually ends up tackling someone; Joruun, who's usually cheerful but has a keen focus when a sword's in her hand; and Ivan, who's good at keeping an eye on others in battle and quick to shout when there's trouble. > Focus> RecoverYou can't seem to decide where everyone will be of best use, although you know you want the chemists in the middle. Eventually you decide that yourself and Joruun will take the flanks, with Ivan at the lead, Torrance watching behind and Lewis covering the back of the group. The city seems to vanish as the terrain rolls and trees take over the skyline. There's something about the outside world that's so much less exciting than you'd hoped it would be when you started as a cadet. Colors seem less saturated, the sun seems just a bit more dim, and the shadows just slightly more foreboding.Your flank is closest to Nia, who isn't saying much; on the other side, Belle and Joruun are chatting it up loudly. You're glad this wasn't a stealth assignment. Lewis calls back to Torrance every so often to check on the rear guard, while Markil is trying to act like one of the squires, rubbernecking this way and that as though he's going to spot invisible demons and be the hero of the day.A scout rides back to confirm that all is well with your group, then moves out again. The wagons have gotten much farther down the road to Goland and are barely visible in the distance, especially as dusk falls. You start thinking it might be time to set up camp for the night when an arrow flies out of the trees and sticks in the ground near your chocobo's foot.> Call out to whoever's there. >>36006393Its the same Ivalice just separated by the stretch of time. If we're playing this as a quest, think of what we can uncover by ruin delving.Think of the heights we can reach. Quests are more than their base premise, they are the worlds and stories their QM's are able to weave over time and from player input and cooperation.
>>36006484Not really the same. XII Ivalice is based off the FFTA games.
>>36006510Ivalice (イヴァリース Ivarīsu?) is a fictional universe setting primarily appearing in the Final Fantasy video game series. The world was conceived by Yasumi Matsuno when he joined Square Co. (now Square Enix Co., Ltd.) in 1995, and has since been expanded upon by several games, with more yet due with the Ivalice Alliance series. Ivalice is described as a complex world with a very long history, and the stories of Vagrant Story, Final Fantasy Tactics, and Final Fantasy XII are said to unfold quite close on the Ivalice map.Though described often as a world, this was only physically true of Ivalice in Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, in which Ivalice was created parallel to the real world. The 'true' Ivalice, as witnessed in the remaining games, describes two distinct locations; a geographical region, and a smaller kingdom, both of which belong to a larger, unnamed world. Generally, however, the term Ivalice is also used to refer to the conceptual setting, rather as one might say "the world of medieval Europe" and the Middle Ages Mediterranean.from wikipedia
>>36006510You have no clue how Ivalice works do you?
There's no point wasting time. You shout out loudly to whoever's in the woods, while waving at the troop to close up ranks."You in the woods! Show yourselves, by order of His Majesty King Lauritz! We are Knights of the Crescent and molesting our passage through the lands of Ivalice is a crime!"Ivan rides up, beaming. "Excellent," he says, "we're doing a mock combat!" You shoot him a dark look and he withers. Lewis mutters to you, "We've got your back. Take this one," and adjusts his position to react to the enemy formation. From the woods come six people, with one more visible in shadow in the trees. They don't look like they've seen a full bowl of stew in quite some time; there's a hint of grayness to each countenance, a hollow look in the eyes, and a sense of purpose that makes the cheap weapons they carry seem like extensions of their own bodies. One of them speaks up."You're no knights. You're just squires. Your fat keepers couldn't be bothered to roll their asses out of their nice, clean city, so they sent you." He spits on the ground. "They don't like it out here in the dirt with us regular folks. Out in the dark," - there's something haunted in his voice when he says that word - "with God turning a blind eye."He motions to the treeline, where his fellows flank you. "We've got you surrounded and we know you're escorting chemists. Hand over your food and your potions and we'll let you keep the rest. It's the most generous offer you're going to hear on these roads."Joruun laughs derisively at his challenge, but says nothing. How do you want to respond?> Offer some potions, you can restock from the wagons and these people might need the help> Offer to let them go with a warning; no sense fighting if you don't have to> Offer them food and safe escort to prison if they surrender> Offer them the edge of your sword. We have given the offer of quarter for their banditry, if we must cut them down, then we will. However, this is proof of a larger problem which will no doubt become a focus of ours later. Poverty is the symptom of greater sicknesses which we will have to address as our kingdom moves toward the production of the iron road and an age where any may prosper from these advances.

You put a hand on your sword, and spot Torrance palming a stone out of the corner of your eye. "We will offer you food and the aid of our chemists," you announce, "if you lay down your arms and surrender to us. You will be bound and your weapons confiscated and we will escort you to prison.""Starving in a dungeon with the other rats? I see they've got your egos swelling already. We'll take what we want, and to Hell whoever's going."An arrow shoots out and hits Nia. Torrance throws a stone, catching one of the bandits in the head. Lewis hefts his axe, you and Joruun have swords in hand and Ivan draws his. Battle, it seems, is joined.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QdgNzhr_tPEYou have three armed men to the west and three to the east, on foot with their backs to the treeline. On the eastern side, an archer lurks in the woods.(Nia: Injured)> Orders?

>>36007488Send two to neutralize the archer, have Torrance throw stones to screen you and keep him from properly aiming. The rest make a defensive line protecting the chemists while they help the injured.
And this is what happens when you be nice to filthy dirty peasants.Celeste, Lewis, Joruun take the eastern side with one Chemist supporting. Celeste and Joruun take on the three peasants, Lewis with all his bravado and axe attempt to get the archer. Make certain they no one pursues too hard in the woods; if they flee, them scatter and run.Ivan and Torrance take the west with one of the other Chemist supporting.Nia heals herself and stays back. She joins whatever side is having trouble after healing herself.
>>36007648>send twoThe archer has three people between himself and us.You'd be sending two people to fight three while they have archers covering fire.Nia probably isn't hurt badly, I think the first priority should be neutralizing those three ASAP with our number advantage before the other three catch up, then to send someone into the woods to get the archer. while the others repel the western warriors
>>36007627Flat road, slight incline down from your position to the forest.
You, Joruun and Lewis move to face the eastern attackers. A thrown rock catches you in the shoulder and bounces up, hitting the side of your head. Joruun blocks a sword swing, but it diverts and grazes her shoulder. Lewis takes the opening you have provided and advances to catch the archer, who slips further into the trees. The third man ignores him and slashes you across the chest - good thing you're wearing your armor or that could have been much more serious. Still, it was a solid hit and you felt the blow land.Someone claimed combat is glorious, but that's proving to be anything but true. Nia huddles with Belle and drinks a potion to heal her injuries. Markil picks up a branch from the ground and moves to help Torrance and Ivan with the men approaching from the west - a bad move, as two of them set upon him. Torrance catches another one with a rock and Ivan's able to warn Markil right before a third strike puts his life at risk. The arrow you keep expecting never flies, though - wherever he is, that archer must be lining up a shot.(Celeste: Injured)(Joruun: Injured)(Markil: Wounded)> Orders?
>>36008393Charged the Archer.
>>36008393Charge the archer, form ranks>Order wounding tended to in triage order of necessity
Are the Squires really getting rekt by a bunch of starving peasants with cheap weapons, not having even taken one down but chalking up injuries? Either the group is really incompetent or the bandits are considerable veterans.Order Markil to fall back and heal, Torrance and Ivan cover. Celeste and Joruun can't exactly do anything but keep up the fight. Up to Lewis to take down the archer. Nia and Belle should toss a potion to Celeste and Joruun given the opportune.
>don't feel confident voting because I can't into strategy>>36008742They had the element of surprise, and I think they outnumber us.
>>36008742its those archers! all we got are chemists and squires!
>>36008804The element of surprise is gone when you have a conversation. That doesn't make much sense. And Markil charged in when he was suppose to be supporting like a Chemist should.Either QM is subverting the idea of a bunch of Squires proving themselves from the get-go like Ramza and co. or the bandits are part of some elite rebel group. Because silly peasants shouldn't be able to take on trained Squires as the original FFT showed.
"Markil!" you shout, "stop trying to be a hero! Get clear and tend to your injuries! Nia, Belle, we could use help!" You catch the leader in the side with your sword, and as he falters, Joruun finishes the job. You've never seen this amount of blood before, running down his chest from the angry gash in his throat. His eyes seem to find yours for a moment, full of accusation and despair. You can feel the heat of his blood in the air.Angered, his fellows try to handle the two of you, but your basic instincts see you both adjusting to fight back-to-back. Joruun takes another hit, but you manage to avoid the man swinging clumsily at you. Belle rushes up to administer a potion to your fellow squire."We've only got a couple left," she lets you know. "Take care of yourselves." Easier said than done, perhaps. You hope Lewis is close to that archer. You want to move to help him, but the two remaining bandits are in your path and seem ready to take advantage the second you move.Across the road, Ivan has taken down an enemy and Torrance clips one with a rock as he tries to back into the woods. From his breathing you'd guess Ivan has taken a hit. A whooshing sound and a scream catch your attention: Belle has been hit by a well-aimed arrow that may have been meant for one of you or Joruun. It's an ugly hit, too, and she's looking seriously injured."Why am I in command, anyway?" you ask yourself, seeing your classmates - your friends, some of them - injured and struggling against these desperate men. A shout from the woods brightens your mood somewhat: it sounds like Lewis has found his man. You've got two enemies remaining on your side, and one more bandit still facing off against Torrance and Ivan while another hides in the woods.(Belle: Critical)(Celeste: Injured)(Ivan: Injured)> Orders?
>>36008984Order Ivan on defense while Torrance holds their opponent back. Have Joruun screen for Belle. Potion to Belle if possible.
>>36008984Slash madly at the nearest enemy.
>>36009044This is a pretty solid plan.
"Ivan!" you call, "Fall back and keep an eye on the fight for Torrance! Belle, I know we're running low but you need to heal yourself now!" You shoot a look to Joruun, who nods and moves to screen Belle. One of the swordsmen tries to advance and finish off the chemist, but Joruun holds him at bay.Lewis comes back holding a bloody axe, with an arrow shaft through his leg. At his approach, your opponent gets distracted and looks behind himself, giving you all the window you need. You swing and leave a deep wound from his shoulder down to his ribs. He crumples.Joruun's enemy, hearing his friend fall, tries to disengage. As he turns, Joruun slashes him in the leg and then finishes him with a strike to the back as he rolls on the ground.Behind you, Ivan has fallen back to check on Markil as Torrance squares off with the last brigand. As they move close to the treeline, Torrance's chocobo catches its foot on a root and stumbles. Ivan calls out a warning to Torrance, who narrowly ducks a sword blow and responds in kind. The brigands are dead, and barring a few scrapes and scratches (and empty potion bottles), your group doesn't seem to be looking too much the worse for wear.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBtGDYP3ilkThe last brigand is pretty far down the road now. You check your pack and take the reins of your chocobo. Lewis looks over at you. "What are you doing?" he asks."We've got a responsibility to arrest that man for breaking the King's law," you reply. "I'm going to bring him to justice."Joruun gives a soft laugh. "You'll learn how things are outside of the capital sooner or later, Celeste."You shoot her a rude look, but even Torrance gives a curt nod of agreement with what she's saying. Ivan and Belle both remount and ride up behind you, though."We'll catch up with the wagons and inform Sir Mathis of what happened here," Lewis suggests. "That way they can hold position on the main road until you can catch up." The idea makes sense to you, and you ride off as the rest prepare to catch the main group. As you follow the trail, Ivan lets you in on his observations. "Their leader knew we were squires; he had to have seen the knights and wagons and ignored them on purpose. I think they might have been ex-cadets. And," he continues in a low voice so Belle doesn't hear, "I think they might have been after the chemists."With all the time you've spent at the head of your class, it's never really occurred to you that some cadets never make it to knighthood. Still, you think, they should be able to return to their families and arrange for some other position... shouldn't they? Maybe you know less about the world than you should. It's a sobering thought on this darkening eve.
And with that, I'll call it closed. Hope to do another one of these soon. It was quite fun! Thanks to everyone who participated.
