Karas. Karas! You can't get over it. It's really him! That cocksure attitude, that flair for the dramatic. That way of trying to play it mysterious, and usually failing. He was never very subtle, was he?How did he Exalt? How did it happen? What are the chances of your brother Exalting, as well as you? Is that a thing that happens? Does he know what happened to your mom and dad? To your little sister? The small boat he's on picks up speed more and more, heading straight for the Murdering Heart, dodging left and right through a hail of cannonballs and projectiles. You're lost in thought a moment looking at him getting smaller and smaller. As he approaches, the Murdering Heart, as if it were a giant sea organism reacting to the approaching threat, shrouds itself in a layer of ink-black fog, shining from within of a reddish, malevolent light, concealing its true shape and position. You come back to the here and now as Mikahil shakes you. "Oi! Maka! What was all that about?!"He doesn't know anything about the plan. He probably has no idea how dangerous the Murdering Heart is. He's going to get killed, Solar or not.You glance again at the dark shape hovering on the horizon. Karas has already vanished inside it.You remember what Amata just told you. Five Tails will reinforce you in five minutes. Zaan in fifteen. Tia is engaged in combat somewhere else and who knows when she'll be here.Your main force is thirty minutes behind.Right now all you have is the Gloria, its crew and its two Lightning Ballistas, Mikahil and Amata, and Amata is focusing her Essence on communication sorcery and isn't fit to fight. What to do?>I can't leave that idiot to fight alone. Mikahil, charge inside the smokescreen.>I can't leave that idiot to fight alone. Mikahil, charge inside the smokescreen. And fire at will, even blindly.>We have to stick to the plan. >Who are we?Maka, an exiled noble Exalted as a Zenith-caste Solar. She was in the western city of Tianna as a guest of queen Amata, an old friend. Abyssals are targeting the city for conquest, Lintha pirates have infiltrated it with spies and agents, and the Realm is probably planning to get rid of you. But things are also looking up. You have gathered a lot of allies and friends, have a powerful Manse under construction, and are unifying Tianna in a great nation under your overwhelming charisma. You just discovered the reason everyone seems to be so interested in Tianna: an enormous magical fortress lies buried underground, a relic of the First Age with enough firepower to destroy anything...>Solar? Rolled 8 (1d10)It seems that Maka and her family share a tendency to not think things through, don't they?
Rolled 4 (1d10)>I can't leave that idiot to fight alone. Mikahil, charge inside the smokescreen. And fire at will, even blindlyThat idiot, we can't let him risk himself like this.

Rolled 6 (1d10)>>35972465Also EF does the Murdering Heart have masts with sail like some giant hell-o-war or does it move under it's own power like a later ship.Important for reasons of kicking asshole lintha into the mainmast until it cracks.
Rolled 2 (1d10)>>35972465>>I can't leave that idiot to fight alone. Mikahil, charge inside the smokescreen.DAMN THE HELLPEDOES
>>35972605Its not actually a ship. Its a giant demon, it moves under its own power.
Rolled 2 (1d10)>>35972618Well the big questions is since this is a demon summoned to BE a ship I'm just curious what kind of ship form it took. It might have sails as it's means of moving under it's own power like our bro's little boat but the lintha crew don't actually have to set them or anything. If it's like an evil ship of the line we can basically break it's nautical legs by de-masting it
>>35972627Ships in the west usually have sails and oars, Creations ships are pretty much early iron age in design. Even Kimberys Dawn has sails, though if it needs those is questionable.
>>35972465>Amata! Send a Messenger and tell that moron to pull back!
>>35972605You didn't get a good look at it, but it didn't seem to have sails and masts. You slam your fist on the Gloria's railing in anger. "Damnit.""So who IS the champion there?" Mikahil asks, sarcastic, but you can see his grip on the rudder wheel is nervous and fidgety. Things are not going as planned."Not a lot of time to explain. He's a Dawn. I know him. He can be trusted." You explain to him."He's also a moron." He points out."Agreed. Mikahil, full speed ahead if you please."He glances up to the sails catching the wind, then back to you. "We're bailing him out? We're going to be undergunned as hell, pun intended, once we get in range. Are we really risking everything for-"You interrupt him with a hard, silent glance."...This is a terrible idea." He mumbles, turning hard into the black cloud. "Full sails! Man the Lightning Ballistas!" He orders, and the crew follows his instructions dutifully, if nervously. The Gloria manages to approach the black cloud without any return fire, but you hear distressing noises from within it: explosions, clash of blades, screams, the din of battle. Sometimes, brief flash of colored light escape from within. You can get a vague idea of the demon-ship's vast size. It must be... you can't put a number on it but it must be seriously huge.Amata, wreathed in a slight bluish glow - the residual Anima glow of her sorcery, probably - emerges from her rooms. "...What's happening?""Long story." You reply, without turning around."A Dawn popped out of nowhere and attacked the Heart." Mikahil adds."We don't have a Dawn." She notes, as if she were talking about being short on sugar."We do now." You point out. "We're going in.">Get inside the smoke screen, open fire as soon as we see the enemy ship.>Full speed ahead, flank it, and then I will board it.>Full speed ahead, flank it, and then we Exalted will board it.>Full speed ahead, flank it, and then we all board it.>Ramming speed ahead.>(Other)

>>35972992>Its more that the Quest runs as much on sex as Exalted does. You can have an Exalted with a hundred child sex slaves, but that doesn't mean it has to be prevalent in the campaign or game.

"Full speed ahead" You suggest to Mikahil with a nod in the direction of the dark cloud. He turns to you, looking quite worried. "Are you sure?""Just close enough for me to board it.""Just you?""You need to pilot the ship, and Amata needs to coordinate our reinforcements, and then regain her Essence."He nods, and keeps the rudder straight while the Gloria disappears inside the smoke screen. Your mouth is filled with a sharp, acrid taste, like spoiled wine that didn't quite make it all the way to vinegar."And then?" He asks, staring in the darkness, his eyes stinging and watering as much as yours."Improvise." You pat his shoulder, trying to be reassuring. But it's hard to, in this oppressive atmosphere. With a noiseless noise like a mute howl, the vast bulk of the Murdering Heart appears in front of you all of sudden through the thick smoke. A tall cliff of flesh and bone emerging from the wine-colored sea. Amidst the waves, you see tentacles writhing and fanged mouths snapping. The crew grows pale. You hear panicked screams."Maka." "I won't. I promise." You smile, and kick the ship under your feet, taking to the air.Carried up in the sky by the jump, you sail across the space separating the Gloria and the Heart. Flashes of light below you inform you that the Gloria has opened fire with the Lightning Ballistas and started maneuvering.Physical + Night = 8 4 2 4 7 = 2 successesYour leap doesn't quite carry you to a solid landing on the top of the ship, but you grasp one of the bone-like plates covering its surface, holding on to it for dear life. You knew that this "ship" was alive, but being so close to it, actually touching it with hand, is so surreal. You feel it breathing. You feel the blood pumping. You feel the flesh and the muscles. You are touching it, smelling it, tasting it.And you really wish you didn't.Pulling yourself up, you climb all the way to the top. Here, the smoke is less thick, and you can see the ship's main deck. Nope, still surreal. It's vast, but somehow it seems less wide than it seemed at first. It's covered in planks of wood, scales, bone, skin, flesh. Curvy pillars of a vaguely wax-like substance rise chaotically from this uneven surface and disappear in the fog above you, like a confused forest of the masts you were fairly sure this ship did not have. You hear screams and orders. The noise of battle echoes all around you, but the flashes of golden essence-light filtering through the acrid smoke suggest Karas' current position to you.But before you can take a step in that direction, seven Lintha pirates emerge from the smoke at once, charging you with spears and hatchets and curved sword-like blades. So activating them now will let us crush the lintha dregs that compose the bulk of the crew without taking a scratch and they'll still be active for any boss fight vs the captain or quartermaster or whoever.
[IRON-KETTLE BODY] [SOLAR HERO STYLE][ESSENCE: 4/6]A flash of golden light explodes from you, pushing the foggy darkness back. For a moment, the charging Lintha hesitate. The next moment, when they finally reach your position, you're already behind them, landing on the deck after your leap, rolling with the impact, springing back on your feet and dashing towards Karas' light. You hear explosions, the impacts of more Lightning Ballistas and the roar of the Heart's own cannons. You can't do much about it other than hope that Mikahil can keep the Gloria in one piece.Arrows whistle around you, some impacting against your skin and shattering. The deck is incredibly chaotic, what happens when someone tries to keep up with supernaturally mobile opponents. Finally, you reach Karas. He's standing in the middle of the deck, in the center of a bloody crater of broken flesh and shattered bone and wood. More than a few bodies are littered around him. He is holding one in hand, a dead Lintha held by the leg, its upper body pulped into an unrecognizable mess. Six arrows and one hatchet are sticking out of his armor and clothes. Hard to tell if any of the blood covering him is his own or someone else's."Sis." He greets you, casually. You walk up to him as Lintha reinforcements pour in. >>35973361No. Social Combat is seperate.
Rolled 6 (1d10)>>35973356Yeah the ship being a bigass demon complicates things but maybe we can knock it unconscious. Or it could be mindless. Just one bigass fuckoff demon that the lintha summoned to be powerful but not intelligent enough to rebel.
>>35973361>making Lintha hornykek>>35973373There is no such thing as a mindless demon. Demons are literally souls of the Yozi, so all of them have minds and intelligence.
>>35973361In normal 2E no. It might be different in this quest, but I don't think it work work on Lintha even if it was.
>>35973361Well, we could try!The rules say it won't work, but that doesn't mean we can't try it. On the other hand, Lintha are mutants, so it might be a bit difficult to seduce them.
>>35973386Male Lintha are eunuchs. They have their balls cut off.
Rolled 1 (1d10)>>35973383Then bludgeoning to whatever passes for a brain on this thing is the name of the game. Knock it the fuck out so it cant stop us from stealing all the swag, booty, plunder, ill gotten gains, assorted sundries.
>>35973361No. You'd need a custom martial art to inflict internal penalties.
>>35973398>stealing all the swag, booty, plunder, ill gotten gains, assorted sundriesThe swag will be at the Lintha base, not on their ship.

Rolled 5 (1d10)>>35973403Most of it yeah but I doubt they have a portal to instantly transport whatever their current haul is to the Atoll. The heart will have some plunder in it's holds that they're storing from the pirate ships it tends. I figure the lintha cruise around with flagships like these and when they get a sufficient haul they head back to the atoll to offload and resupply. We steal that for now and maybe we'll even manage to get charts from the captain or his cabin that can help us locate the Atoll itself.
>>35973403Depends if they plundered with it and didn't go back to base yet
>>35973294>ask about the rest of the family>how about a kiss for good luck?>find something importantAw yes.
>>35973418>but I doubt they have a portal to instantly transport whatever their current haul is to the AtollIts pretty likely they have one. Just send it through Malfeas. The Lintha aren't free ranging pirates. They mostly deal with extorting others for protection, not so much plunder. Their more mafia than pirates, despite the name. In the unlikely event that they have plundered something, its definitloy not nearly enough to be worth the effort.
Rolled 3 (1d10)>>35973418>>35973419>>35973403Thinking about if the Bleeding heart has any booty on it or not. Considering that they came right at us on the first day of our search meant that they were heading right for us. Which could mean that they were waiting for us to make a move.
>>35973440Its not even sure if this thing has a cargo hold.
Rolled 3 (1d10)>>35973440That's..... something to consider. Difficult to say though since we had a Solar captain searching for them and we were in Mikahil's element. It's very likely that Mik found them by being a Solar.

A rope is passed around your neck, a grappling hook snags your clothes. Hands grab and pull your hair, and you are dragged to the ground. The encirclement turns into a horrifyingly thick melee, bodies pressing you on all sides. Did I miss it or was it not mentioned what weapon our brother uses?
Rolled 4 (1d10)>>35973573Right now he's using the mangled remains of a lintha as a weapon
Rolled 1 (1d10)>>35973573He was beating them with their own bodies, but as a dawn he's proficient in anything, what he has charms for is a different matter though
>>35973573Given he was using Lintha pirate as an improvised weapon, my guess he's a solar hero stylist.
>>35973573Right now he's beating Lintha to death with their comrades corpse. When we get back to Tianna we'll probably give him that Sword we found.
>>35973581I had hoped he would use something else than Maka.Just seems weird having two people with the exact same fighting style in the party somehow
Rolled 1 (1d10)>>35973571If our fight above deck counts as a different scene from the rest of the fight, I'm going to be unironically buttmad, to the point of personal idiocy. That's ridiculous and unreasonable. It's just a continuation of the same battle.
Rolled 6 (1d10)>>35973590oh I figure our charms will still be active and all. But if we keep rolling as shitty as we have been so far we're gonna be at such low hp that fighting a demon blooded lintha captain badass will be beyond us.
Rolled 9 (1d10)>>35973589It's less weird when they're siblings.
Rolled 10 (1d10)>>35973589Nah it's cool, were going to give him that surfboard daiklave when we get back to Tianna
>>35973581So what you're saying is Maka's family is a bunch of super pretty Solar Exaltation magnets with a penchant for punching people.
>>35973606And probably for lewding people as well.
Rolled 6 (1d10)>>35973606Exactly. Hell, there's a sister and two parents too. We might be able to form a Perfect Circle consisting entirely of an action family.
Rolled 1 (1d10)>>35973606I'm just guessing. Maybe he would rather have a sword or something, but lost it somewhere in the melee. But fate works in mysterious ways. Or if the pattern spiders just find it amusing to have Maka and her brother punch people.
>>35973581Isn't Infernal Monster Style the style that lets you use enemies as improvised weapons?Maybe he's actually an Infernal disguising his anima?
Rolled 3 (1d10)>>35973642EF said that if infernals do appear they wont be AlternateSolarCostume#3 but something really inhuman. So in all likelihood he's the real deal.
Rolled 8 (1d10)>>35973642They do, but EF has mentioned his Infernals are very different from canon infernals
Rolled 1 (1d10)>>35973642that would be a shitty twist
>>35973650We can't really tell how obviously inhuman they would be, so its possible.>>35973653I would like it.
Rolled 3 (1d10)>>35973630He deflected the cannon ball with his fist, so I'm guessing he never had a sword. As a side note, the Lintha ship has physical projectile artillery. In Creation, your choices are normally ballistas, short-range firedust canons, or essence weaponry. No wonder people are so terrified of it. I wonder how it fires, though. I'm guessing the ship uses high-pressure air, like putting a marble between your lips and blowing hard to shoot it out. After all, Creation doesn't have anything that functions like gunpowder.
>>35973642While Infernal monster style has charms for using living people as improvised weapons, Solar Hero Style Charms are able to be used with improvised weapons. A lintha pirate's corpse would count as an improvised weapon under those rules.
>>35973670>After all, Creation doesn't have anything that functions like gunpowder.Yeah, they just have essence cannons, fire wands and all of that shit instead.
Rolled 4 (1d10)>>35973670Well the lintha ship is a big cliff of flesh covered in orifices so maybe the ship was just spitting at us.It just so happens that the lintha stuck cannonballs in it's mouths before it spat.
>>35973642That charm is part of the base tree that even non-Infernals can learn.
>>35973670>Creation doesn't have anything that functions like gunpowderThere is the stuff they use for plasma tongue repeaters.
>>35973642from what he said in past threads, EF likes perfect circles way too much to make him anything but a Dawnunless that's what he wants us to think
Rolled 3 (1d10)>>35973669>I would like it.You have shit taste and your waifu a shit.

>>35973706It's likely he's been exalted for a little while.
>>35973470>Try and break yourself free.
>>35973589Well, they are siblings, and they both seem to basically be vapid whores, so it makes sense. They're quite similar.
Rolled 4 (1d10)>>35973681Right, none of which produces expanding gas in a way that can launch a bullet or cannonball to the horizon. A proper ship-mounted canon has significantly better bombarding range than even big essence cannons. That they could shell us with metal projectiles accurately from so far away is a really big deal. >>35973690That's just a gel of fire dust, and it only about doubles its extremely limited range. Regardless, fire dust doesn't produce expanding gas of the sort that could propel a solid slug. It's just congealed fire essence that turns back into fire when exposed to a spark, igniting the air (when directed by a barrel) in front of it. It's highly incendiary, but not really concussive at all. >>35973683It'd be cool, right? Load cannonballs into its barnacle-mouths, take a deep breath, and loose all weapons.
>>35973746Here's hoping that is the case. I'm really looking forward to the incest.
Rolled 6 (1d10)>>35973768One thing at a time anon, let's walk into that shitstorm minefield of an inevitable argument after we loot'n plunder
Rolled 2 (1d10)>>35973732Anything less than a year means you've been exalted for less time than the core game assumes a starting character has been. In terms of 'amount of time since they exalted,' Maka's ages away from a proper starting character.

Actually, that's true. It's been a while since you heard the thunderbolt-like roar of the Gloria's batteries. And the Heart's cannons are silent, as well. Are they selling the truth? Did the Gloria really sink? You leap up, without a real plan other than the need you feel, deep in your heart, to do something, anything. You leap sideways, putting the two figures between you and the eye, hoping that it will not nail you with its curse beam with friendlies in its line of fire. Now you can see them better: they are glowing beings, barely clothed, radiating an off-putting light. The air seems to vibrate and howl around them. The depth of their fixed stare makes you wince. They seem to be identical, or almost identical, beyond even the similarities of twins. These are not natural creatures, not even for the standards of Lintha.<"Oh, the rat crawled out."> One of them grins. The other one mirrors its movements perfectly.Perfectly coordinated, they both sidestep just in the same split-second the curse-beam fires from the red eye. You're caught by surprise, with no time to dodge or reposition yourself.Your clothes and skin vanish instantly, turning into smoke and dust and flying away. You squeeze your eyelids to keep your eyeballs from floating away, and clench your teeth to keep them in your mouth.[HEALTH 2/5]Suddenly, you stagger, the pressure on you relieved after a few seconds.Forcing your eyes open, you see something standing in front of the eye. You see his back. That's when you remember something. Something important.(cont.)

You're the eldest daughter of the Royal Family of Gem. You were the royal princess, the one destined to inherit the crown.Karas was second in line. He never had any interest in the crown. when he was a little kid, once, mom and dad had told him that Maka would one day be queen, and his job would be to protect his big sister. They didn't mean anything deep with this. It was just something you say to kids. Almost a joke.Ever since he was little, he took that single thing, that single line your parents had told him once, probably at some lunch or dinner, between any other sort of light, meaningless conversation to fill in time, and made it the core of his being.Sometimes, you found yourself thinking that, if you could go back in time, you'd like to do things over and have Karas inherit the throne.Because he has always been incredibly driven and focused, in a way you have never been able to understand. He trained. He learned. While you were studying all sorts of things that a future ruler could need, or fooling around or wasting time in idle pursuits, or indulging in your own hobbies or pleasures, he trained. For you.To be your shield. You look up to his back, as he takes slow steps towards the Eye. He's using a bone plate as a shield, but bits and pieces of his armor and flesh fly by you, carried by the curse beam's pressure. Finally, his improvised shield cracks and explodes. He stands his ground, taking the beam in his chest, and still walking on against that terrible pressure, his Anima blazing brighter and brighter. After glancing at Karas for a second, the two creatures turn to you with a crooked smile, blades of metallic light sprouting from their hands.Physical + Dawn + SHS = 9 8 9 9 7 8 10 9 2 = 9 successes[Damage Weapon Boost 1/3 used]You punch the white one, and he flies away, piercing the smoke shell and vanishing in the distant sky. Rolled 9 (1d10)>>35974566Yeah, as someone whose never played Exalted, I am utterly confused at how to either prevent taking damage, or get more health, as both of those seem impossible

>>35974525>Take advantage of his surprise and take him down.Throw him at the eye. Use Ten Ox if we have to.

>>35974584It's easily possible in actual Exalted
Rolled 5 (1d10)>>35974585So what is the point of having armor then?Is it a 'one or the other' deal?
>>35974585Yes, save for Zenith 5, we'll get AST anyway. Then spirit punching charms after.
Rolled 5 (1d10)>>35974584in EF's system we don't have access to perfect defenses but for high stat levels so a lot of shit we could ignore hurts us.We get more health by increasing physical or picking up certain charms.
Rolled 8 (1d10)>>35974588>and this system makes it even worse by restricting charm use Man, that is so fucking true. In this quest's system, we regain essence SO FUCKING SLOW. Exalted is normally balanced around the assumption that you regenerate Essence in-combat, and are fully recharged between scenes.
Rolled 7 (1d10)>>35974588>In reality its because Exalted combat is absurdly lethal, and this system makes it even worse by restricting charm use Which is really odd as my first impression of Exalted, through this, was that its all about epic combat and wild absurdly ridiculous actions. Not getting 2 hit by a random mob with rusty knives
We could try and learn the Art of Victorious Concession or maybe Wood Dragon Style. Both allow you to heal yourself, IIRC
Rolled 7 (1d10)>>35974525>punch him into the eye
Rolled 4 (1d10)>>35974600So why is it that we regain essence so slow?Seems counter-intuitive and very crippling for a quest.
Rolled 5 (1d10)>>35974605>Which is really odd as my first impression of Exalted, through this, was that its all about epic combat and wild absurdly ridiculous actions.Yeah actual Exalted has this problem too, it's not as bad now post-errata, but even still it's pretty much playing Rocket tag
Rolled 3 (1d10)>>35974600>Exalted is normally balanced around the assumption that you regenerate Essence in-combatSo why don't we in this? I don't see a good reason for it.
Rolled 10 (1d10)>>35974591We get the enlightening charm at Zenith 5.Our butler was quite squishy when we played him.
Rolled 2 (1d10)>>35974525>Grab the asshole and smash into the Eye while both have their attention elsewhereDice.
Rolled 1 (1d10)>>35974609Probably because each point of Essence in this quest is more like 5-10 points in the core Exalted system. EF probably had a hard time figuring out a balanced way of in-action Essence recovery and said 'fuck it.' I'd have done the same. That said, it absolutely is fucking crippling.
Rolled 10 (1d10)>>35974609EF has mentioned giving us charm options for essence regeneration mid combat. Plus combat tends to be over pretty damn quickly one way or the other.
Rolled 8 (1d10)>>35974609There are ways to increase essence regen, either with increasing our cult rating or getting a hearthstone
>>35974605When people say it's lethal, they mean combat between Exalts, not between Exalts and mortals or mooks.
Rolled 7 (1d10)>>35974621>That said, it absolutely is fucking crippling. So why say 'fuck it' and cripple it over that? There's got to be a better way without crippling us.
>>35974600Actually, this system seems LESS Lethal, mostly because neither you or your enemies can combo Charms to get ridiculously killy results, and also because the more powerful and deadly Charms have not appeared yet or have been altered to be less ridiculous.
Rolled 9 (1d10)>>35974628>not between Exalts and mortals or mooks.Well that's not been my experience so far, while they haven't been 1-2 hitting us, they are still rpetty lethal
It's also pretty weird how artifacts have been reduced to "bigger numbers" even worse than in E2, with not even the possibility of any special powers. When we got our artifact weapon, I was really excited thinking "I wonder what cool thing they can do" and then it's just +1 to damage. At least they're changing that in E3
Rolled 2 (1d10)>>35974632...I never said the system was more lethal. I said that lacking a method of essence recovery - like stunting in 2e or the automatic mote trickle in 3e - is crippling. Which it is. It dramatically limits our options in a fight, and forces us to rely entirely on very slow passive Essence recovery outside of fights. There's nothing wrong with it being crippling. Like I said, I'd have done the same thing. But it absolutely does hobble us.>>35974630Because it's easy and EF is doing this for free. I don't have a problem with it, just an awareness of it.
>>35974636What's your defense pools like?Did you pick a perfect defense?
Rolled 4 (1d10)>>35974643We have access to a charm that let's us regen essence in combat, it's kind of spotty but I've been in favor of getting it for a while, a lot of people don't like it though
>>35974638Our artifact weapon is a pair of Orihalcum gauntlets that can turn into Bridal-style gloves and comes with Zettai Ryouki armored boots. It probably has extra effects when used in social situations.Or at least it SHOULD have extra effects.
>>35974653It's too random as-is, is most people's problem IIRC.
>>35974616Because this one has every Charm cost one Essence. If we would regen in combat, that would be too OP if we would have made actually smart charm purchases. Making a functional combat engine based on exalted mechanics is a task you would probably need exaltation to solve. Thats why the developers of exalted threw the whole thing out of the window.>>35974632I took as baseline the errata rules. But its stil way more lethal because a lot of damage prevention requires several charms, and often. Absurd kill combos only apply in celestial level anyway, which we haven't fought yet.
>>35974581This guy has it right. Without IKB, you'd be dead now.>>35974593It is.
>>35974653is it the "every time you take damage you have a chance to recover ONE Essence" Charm?Because that's pretty crappy

Rolled 2 (1d10)>>35974668>This guy has it right. Without IKB, you'd be dead now.Cheers, man. I'm also the guy saying that lacking a method of essence recovery is crippling, but that I'd have done it the same way. You're doing a great job, we're just arguing like usual because we're antsy for the next update.
>>35974643My apologies, my comment was supposed to answer both your post and the one you quoted.Nevertheless, Combat has been fairly surviveable so far, and the only reason we are so low on essence is because we have a small pool, combined with activating two charms at once because we got mobbed by an army of glorified extras and buried under a literal mountain of them.

Rolled 6 (1d10)>>35974946>The guy covered in blood holding a giant eye over his head like a championship belt?Fucking Dawn Caste, man. We may be tough, but nobody puts a hurt down like a Dawn Caste.
>>35975002We have to kill a boat first.
>>35974946>"The guy covered in blood holding a giant eye over his head like a championship belt? He seems pretty okay. Who the heck is he anyway?"So, he's an overprotective, somewhat dumb, ridiculosly deadly brown-skinned white-haired pretty boy. And he gets really bloodthirsty if someone threatens us.Karas is trule the Best Little Brother
Rolled 5 (1d10)>>35974999Tia is our sword, Karas our shield. And we shall wear them both, one on each shoulder.
Rolled 8 (1d10)>>35975007>No they don'tYes, they do. They mentioned before that they call each other Anathema in the bedroom sometimes.
>>35975008It's something that tends to happen when you take 3 points of damage in a couple minutes.
>>35975002I honestly don't want to, I mean even when the DBs did the sixsome with us they focused on Maka
>>35975017>Little BrotherIs he, he could be older than us
>>35975029And your issue is...
Rolled 10 (1d10)>>35975034He's our little brother. We were the Crown Princess because we were the eldest child. That was the entire point of the post talking about him being our protector.
>>35975029So what? He definitely deserves a reward after this, and aside from the Daiklave, I don't see what could be better
Rolled 10 (1d10)>>35975002Fuck off with that. He's our awesome little bro, who is for cuddles and embarrassing and being a bro, but not for lewds. We are working on not sexing everything we meet, so go away Great Curse, I have seen through your poor disguise.
>>35975012>Yeah, we hit 300+ amazingly fast. You could you know... always make a second thread maybe? When you get back? Maybe?Either way, thanks for running.>>35975034It says here >>35974474 we're the oldest
>>35975027Yeah, maybe all those armored mortals are onto something...Nah, no way.Quick question. If we get some magical armor, can we still use Soak charms or only after the armor is inevitably destroyed?
>>35975046Maybe Tia will thank him
>MFW The entire "fucking my brother" thing is a Pre-planned arc by Exaltedfag about how much we've changed since we've exalted
Rolled 9 (1d10)>>35975046We're trying to change that attitude and he's our brother for fucks sake. We're not a prostitute, we will reward him in time, but not with sex for protecting us, immediately after the battle while we're still missing flesh and skin
>>35975041>>35975053>eldest daughter of the Royal Family of GemIt says daughter not child, I mean it's not like I'm against us being the oldest
>>35975002Soon, my fellow Anon.
Rolled 10 (1d10)>>35975061Once Tia finds out about that psycho eye and him deadlifting that shit out of it's socket I think that's an inevitability.
>>35975061Why not both?
I'd just like to point out to you all that you should KILL enemies that are stunned, THEN use them to destroy things.Alternatively, you could have gone G-Gundam style and crushed the guy's head in your hand, then run him into the eye and yelled 'heat end!'.Being stupid will eventually get Maka killed in combat.
>>35975060They don't stack, as has been said numerous times in this thread, once even by EF >>35974585
Rolled 5 (1d10)>>35975060>Quick question. If we get some magical armor, can we still use Soak charms or only after the armor is inevitably destroyed? That's something I'd like some clarification on, if we had magical armor, would that first take damage, and then when its broken, our soaks come into effect, or is that 'stacking' them and verboten?
>>35975075>Trying to change that attitude>Haven't changed at allEither you do it properly or you give the fuck up.
Rolled 7 (1d10)>>35975076>when he was a little kid, once, mom and dad had told him that Maka would one day be queen, and his job would be to protect his big sister. We're his elder sister.
Rolled 8 (1d10)>>35975085So how does that work, what's the justification behind it?That the armor magically loses its armor properties?I am confused as to why exactly they don't stack, it does not make sense.
>>35975075Incest is a-ok.Kara is probably the only one able to keep up with Maka nowadays. Even Tia is worn out by her.
>>35975110This.Kara + Tia should work.
Rolled 3 (1d10)>>35975095And we're doing it properly.Fuck off great curse.
Rolled 10 (1d10)>>35975110That was before Tia went on her lonesome. She's probably picked up a few charms to help her get the edge back.
>>35975075Are we? I don't think so.And honestly, I like lewd Maka and don't want her to change.
Rolled 4 (1d10)>>35975110I haven't piped in on this issue yet, but I don't want to be a brotherfucker. I was barely down for including all the DBs in the same bed. I'm not even remotely interested in getting lewd with Karas. I would find it vaguely revolting, having sex with our actual little brother.
Rolled 2 (1d10)>>35975121Don't forget our wife and what >>35975134 said.I imagine she's picked up some charms and skills for the bedroom after we bested her and laid down the challenge.
>>35975095>>35975110>>35975121I understand that you're trolling, but really. Fuck off.
>>35975134Wonder if she can take on two solars at once.
>>35975108Because that's how EF has it set up.If they stacked and you could get both 2 soak from charms and 2 from armor, there would be no way for anyone to ever damage you since max damage is 3+weapon.
>>35975145Who's trolling here? Really?
Rolled 1 (1d10)>>35975135So you didn't bother reading the threads after the festival or you're just outright ignoring Maka's character development and her own words and thoughts?
>>35975145Uh, no anon, you're the one who's trolling. I'm dead serious on doing Kara at least once.
Rolled 4 (1d10)>>35975148A literal impossibility. The closest the handful of people who desperately want us to fuck the younger brother will get to that dream is us and karas ravaging tia together.
>>35975108Watsonist explanation is maintaining a protective charm and attunement of armour at the same time is impossible.Doyist explanation is stacking soak would be OP. And look what i found somewhere on tg. Looks familiar?
Rolled 6 (1d10)>>35975151So there's no way to attack the armor or the soak independent of each other and if you have both one magically ceases to exist?I'm just unfamiliar with Exalted and its rules and that seems extremely confusing and nonsensical to me.
>>35975122Oh really? I think some immaculate monks might disagree
Rolled 7 (1d10)>>35975167Someone with photoshop talent needs to humanize those ears.
>>35975155But here the thing. She hasn't been acting any different. There was no character development, Maka just felt a bit off-put after her first city-orgy. If she really regreted it she wouldn't have continued acting in the way she has been since.>>35975174They do stack in regular exalted because damage works differently there and doesn't have a cap.
>>35975155You have a quest with a girl who wears the minimum possible, who's canonically gone into uncountable numbers of partners.Do you really think people were suddenly going to stop that attitude or something?
Rolled 3 (1d10)>>35975174One eclipses the other, making it irrelevant by comparison. It's a mechanical conceit.
>>35975167Well, we need a new outfit anyway
Rolled 8 (1d10)>>35975167Both of those don't make much sense from a narrative perspective. It would be better if Armor added to HP except you can't heal any 'armorHP' you lose as the armor is damaged and needs to be repaired ore replaced. It just seems like instead of actually thinking of a solution for the problem, it just aims to cut the symptoms of the problem off at the knees and causes other problems
Rolled 1 (1d10)>>35975182I think we may have discovered a possible alternate outfit. That does look rather nice.
Rolled 3 (1d10)>>35975187>She hasn't been acting any different. The fuck are you talking about? She's still been dressing lewd, but she's hardly fucked at all since that orgy. She's been acting completely differently, especially in regards to fucking new people rather than her old favorites.
Rolled 8 (1d10)>>35975203I'm actually down for the Armor-as-extra-hp idea. Similar to X-com EU in that regard and it's pretty intuitive for players to understand.
Rolled 2 (1d10)>>35975187>But here the thing. She hasn't been acting any different. There was no character development, Maka just felt a bit off-put after her first city-orgy. If she really regreted it she wouldn't have continued acting in the way she has been since.Oh for fucks sake don't start this.EF explicitly laid out the character development, in character and out of character, go find it in the archives and shut the fuck up about this after you've been told you're wrong in every fucking thread since the event by even the QM himself.
>>35975197Hey, i LIKE the tabard look. I was just posting an alternative. Not a replacement.
Okay, lets get away from the whole triple digits affair and talk about Karas, since that's the problem, or lack of it, here. Why do people not want him on our bed?Why do people want him on our bed? Those are the questions we need answering.
>>35975223And I loathe it. Seriously, we have other outfits, but whenever we try to wear them people flip their shit.
>>35975223Still my favorite pic
Rolled 2 (1d10)>>35975190>Do you really think people were suddenly going to stop that attitude or something? After they voted for it? Yes.Stop being stupid and ignoring the character
>>35975203The problem i have with that is i don't think armour should be ablative. It makes sense in Xcom and Halo when your armour burns off to dissapate plasma. But in Exalted, artifact armour should be 'indestructible'. Having it be shuffled off for repair after every fight breaks that.
Rolled 1 (1d10)>>35975246Fucking this.Stop being 3 year olds and throwing a tantrum anytime we don't wear the fucking tabbard, its getting old and boring and we've loads of other outfits that look as good if not better
Rolled 7 (1d10)>>35975243Why do people not want him on our bed?Because he's our brother and we're trying to avoid that kind of depravity. Why do people want him on our bed?Because this is an exalted quest on /tg/ and so people push said depravity.
Rolled 5 (1d10)>>35975243>Why do people not want him on our bed? He's our brother, and our love for him is purely as his sister, he's hot sure, but he can go bang his own hotties, we'll be his wingman
Rolled 1 (1d10)>>35975243>Why do people not want him on our bed?Because he's our little brother. He's a biological relative, we grew up with him, watched him shit himself as a baby, and so forth. The idea that we could view him as an erotic partner is ludicrous and highly disconcerting.>Why do people want him on our bed?Because he's a super-powered, beautiful man with a personal mission to be our ultimate protector. That kind of thing melts a woman's panties.I'm firmly in the former camp, but I understand the latter.
>>35975246>>35975273I bet you tasteless idiots liked that butt ugly sweater too.I'm joking. But i really do like the tabard.
Rolled 4 (1d10)>>35975271I understand that but I'm not seeing another way of making armor actually useful. You say it should be 'indestructible', well guess what, right now its decoration that should be hanging over our mantlepiece because its so utterly useless and devoid of reasons to even consider wearing it.
>>35975281>our love for him is purely as his sister, it's taken a lot less than that for us to fuck someone.
>>35975288Fine, but can we wear something else for the next month or so?
Rolled 7 (1d10)>>35975291>right now its decoration that should be hanging over our mantlepiece because its so utterly useless and devoid of reasons to even consider wearing itFor us, a person with superhuman magical powers that let us make our skin infinitely more protective than even the best mundane armor?Yes, yes it is.For literally everyone else? It's still perfectly useful.
Rolled 10 (1d10)>>35975283See the post where EF told the "HURR DURR NO CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT" fags to shut the fuck up and accept the fact that the character feels differently now.Face it anons, you are not the character, you are voices in its head.
>>35975291Actually, there are types of armor that we would wear. They're called artifact power armor, and have other bonuses that would be quite useful for us.
Rolled 4 (1d10)>>35975301>Face it anons, you are not the character, you are voices in its head.Specifically, excessively-lewd anons are literally, canonically her Great Curse.
Rolled 3 (1d10)>>35975295I agree, the tabbard has a place in our wardrobe rotation, but it needs to be that, a rotation
Rolled 9 (1d10)>>35975271Assuming EF decided that ablative armor as hp was what he wanted to do he could still have artifact armor be indestructible. The only real difference would be his description of wounds penetrating joints or whatnot. The armor would still be there and would mechanically benefit us in a way that no armor ever could right now.
>>35975284>The idea that we could view him as an erotic partner is ludicrous and highly disconcerting. We're exalted. Shame, embarrassment, taboo and all of that sort of thing is out of the window. We have contraceptives, if we have consent, then I ask, why not? There is little reason to do so otherwise. I would go so far to say it isn't even as depraved as we have gone before either.
Rolled 2 (1d10)>>35975299>more protective than even the best mundane armor?I wasn't talking about the best mundane armor, I was talking about the greatest magical armor in the setting.Which for all intents and purposes has ceased to exist as 'armor' and is that only in name because it's so useless.
Rolled 6 (1d10)>>35975306Then we need to get some as soon as possible, because coming out of every single fight we get into at 1/5 HP is getting old fast.
>>35975301>fags to shut the fuck up and accept the fact that the character feels differently now.So what? Do you think that's made them leave the quest? Made them start acting reasonable?Nay, it is the reverse. Besides, I'm not part of that party or it's opposition, I'm just pointing out facts.
>>35975243What is a ruler without decadence?Karas is the perfect match for Maka (along with Tia), and is almost her equal. And, you know, depravity.; I like lewd Maka.I actually don't have a peoblem with irl incest as well, blood relations is meaningless to me if the participants are of age and consent. So there's that.
Rolled 6 (1d10)>>35975315>We're exalted. Shame, embarrassment, taboo and all of that sort of thing is out of the window. No they are not.Go take a running jump off a tall bridge Great Curse.Get fucked.
Rolled 2 (1d10)>>35975320>Which for all intents and purposes has ceased to exist as 'armor' and is that only in name because it's so useless. No, it's still obscenely fucking useful for anyone without soak charms - and, I dare say, probably provides 2 Soak, making it useful for us too. And, what's more, it doesn't require us to spend Essence to activate - which is the real advantage of wearing armor. But for purely-mechanical reasons, in this quest, higher bonuses don't stack with lower bonuses from different sources, in the same way that someone in D&D only gets the highest Morale bonus or Enhancement Bonus or whatever.Whatever you're using, you get the BIGGEST bonus, instead of smooshing them all together.
Rolled 3 (1d10)>>35975315>We have contraceptives, if we have consent, then I ask, why not? There is little reason to do so otherwise. I would go so far to say it isn't even as depraved as we have gone before either. Now you're not even trying to pretend to be acting in character. This isn't a smut quest, go be a faggot elsewhere and stop shitting this quest up.
>>35975327Yeah, but the weakest of them actually meant for use by exalted are 3 dot artifacts, all of which were meant for DB. So ASAP is going to be a long while. Armor forged for Solar's with soak charms literally hasn't been forged for 2000 years.
Rolled 5 (1d10)>>35975332>I actually don't have a peoblem with irl incest as well, blood relations is meaningless to me if the participants are of age and consent. So there's that.Well it's a good thing we are not playing you as the character but are playing Maka instead isn't it?
Rolled 6 (1d10)>>35975315>Shame, embarrassment, taboo and all of that sort of thing is out of the window.Exalts still feel shame, embarrassment, and taboo, Great Curse-kun. Down that path lie the worst excesses of the First Age.
Rolled 10 (1d10)>>35975342>and, I dare say, probably provides 2 Soak, making it useful for us tooIt can't stack with our soak anon.So no, it would not give us an advantage by saving us spending essence on charms as we can only have one and not the other
>>35975360And The Lover Clad In The Raiment Of Tears.
>>35975357We're also not playing you, so go be a fag somewhere else.
>>35975360After going through several of the archived threads, I can firmly say we feel it a lot less than the average person. Sure we aren't full first age, but that doesn't mean to say we're not getting there.
>>35975357>>35975344>My perception of Maka is BETTER than yours!Look, I don't care if we bugger our little bro up the ass or not, but you guys are as obnoxious as fuck. If you're going to cite personality of our MC in the argument, then back it up rather than insulting the opposition.
Rolled 2 (1d10)>>35975372...the fuck are you even saying? It won't stack with our Soak, which means we can have 2 armor soak instead of activating charms. Charms don't turn off armor, you just take the higher of the two values. And yes, it does save us essence. If we were wearing armor in some fights, we could have soaked blows with the armor instead of spending essence on Charms. Activating a soak charm is still better than wearing mundane armor in an extended fight against powerful opponents, but being able to soak an attack by less-worthy opponents with armor instead of having to spend essence would still be really useful.I get it, you're butthurt about not getting to stack our super powers and armor. But armor still has a use when our charms aren't up and if we find powerful enough armor, you'll be whining about the armor invalidating our charms instead of the other way around.
>>35975372He meant that we can choose to not pop IKB thereby using the armour soak and saving essence.
Rolled 7 (1d10)>>35975410If that's true and EF confirms it, then fucking great, but like I said, I'm unfamiliar with the rules and what EF said read otherwise in my brain.
>>35975405>And yes, it does save us essence. If we were wearing armor in some fights, we could have soaked blows with the armor instead of spending essence on Charms. Activating a soak charm is still better than wearing mundane armor in an extended fight against powerful opponents, but being able to soak an attack by less-worthy opponents with armor instead of having to spend essence would still be really useful.Thats the main reason why I want to get some useful armor for us, because when a fight gets going properly, we start burning through Essence and end up not having enough to last through the fight without losing tons of HP
Rolled 10 (1d10)>>35975444...how? If we don't activate Iron Kettle Body, there's no soak-from-charms for the armor to not stack with.
Rolled 9 (1d10)>>35975463When fights get 'going properly,' we want to activate our fucking soak charm either way. The way armor works in this system is that it provides 1 soak (or more for artifact armor) against X number of attacks per scene, the same way weapons provide X number of +1 damage attacks per scene. Mundane armor is STAGGERINGLY WORSE than our basic soak charm. It's something to be relied on when you're fighting a couple of mundane people or extras, not something to be relied on when you're fighting a dozen men or a supernatural threat. But it would be REALLY USEFUL when we're just fighting a couple of mundane people or extras, so that we can save our essence for fighting dozens of men or supernatural threats.
>>35975468That was a obtuse sentence eh?
>>35975497>But it would be REALLY USEFUL when we're just fighting a couple of mundane people or extras, so that we can save our essence for fighting dozens of men or supernatural threats.Thats what I mean, we use it to save our essence so we can burn it when we really need it and not on the small stuff
Rolled 4 (1d10)>>35975503Yeah, but I couldn't figure out a better way to phrase it.Point is, Charms and Armor don't stack. You take the bigger of the two bonuses. If your natural Soak is 0 because we haven't yet activated IKB, that means you use the bonus from armor. Once we activate IKB, armor is irrelevant in comparison to our indestructible god-body.Unless, of course, we have artifact armor that gives us +2 soak, either passively or X number of times per scene. If it gives us persistent +2 soak, then we'll literally never activate IKB while wearing it. If it gives us +2 soak X number of times per scene, then X number of times per scene we'll have 2 soak instead of 1, because the armor is replacing IKB's bonus instead of stacking with it.Armor isn't worthless to us when our charms aren't up - which is what I think that anon was saying he thought EF was saying. Just because we have soak charms doesn't mean armor will never give us bonuses. It just doesn't stack with our charms' bonuses when those charms are active.
>>35975571If it's soak X times per scene, then might as well go with the extra hp idea for simpler bookkeeping.
Rolled 7 (1d10)>>35975654I totally agree with you, actually. If we have armor that grants us, say, +1 soak twice per scene, it'd be a lot easier to just have it grant us +2 Armor HP per scene. It'd be far easier to keep track of that way, and could end up with an interesting interaction between charm soak and armor HP.
>>35975093Your soak charms do not work while you are wearing armor. And armor doesn't really break when soaking damage, it just... soaks. it gives points of soak, not extra health levels.>>35975108The justification behind it is "magic works that way".>>35975174>So there's no way to attack the armor or the soak independent of each other and if you have both one magically ceases to exist?Yes. Specifically, the Charm doesn't grant its benefits if you are wearing armor.>>35975187>They do stack in regular exalted because damage works differently there and doesn't have a cap.See attached image. As for Ablative Armor: I like the idea in a general game design idea, but I'm not going to use it in Exalted Quest because that's not how the system is meant to be when I designed it, and if I changed that I'd have to change a lot of other stuff as well and almost rewrite everything and, quite frankly, I don't want to.>>35975405>Charms don't turn off armor, you just take the higher of the two valuesPrecisely.>>35975410>He meant that we can choose to not pop IKB thereby using the armour soak and saving essence.Exactly.
>>35975713Yo EF, you got time to talk about what you meant about not liking stunts?
>>35975713Guess we'll need to get some ablative mooks then. Now if only we don't charge into every fight at a disadvantage...
>>35975762>Guess we'll need to get some ablative mooks then.We have a shield though.
>>35975713Before I completely forget, thanks for the thread as always EF, see you next time
>>35975776Generally speaking, Exalted aren't to be used as cannon fodder, even Terrestials. A Dawn is a resource so valuable, that if i had my way, we wouldn't even be on this bloody death trap in the first place without major support. But alas, impulsiveness runs in the family.
>>35975841Well, our brother had the entire lintha thing down himself I think.
Rolled 6 (1d10)>>35975841This is an important point. Individual exalts are often more geopolitically powerful and important than entire small nations. Karas is literally a force stronger than an entire mortal army - even more so than Maka. Tia might give him a run for his money, but only because she's older than him; Full Moons are the physical caste, which includes things like athletics and stealth, rather than being as totally focused on combat like Dawn. But yeah, we REALLY need to start putting Tiger Warriors to use.
>>35975713>Specifically, the Charm doesn't grant its benefits if you are wearing armor. This is confusing to me as it implies that while wearing the armor, we cannot activate the charm.Might want to reword that, because it doesn't match up with what you are agreeing with in >>35975405
>>35975871We also should start saving up for that enlightening charm too, nothing like Golden Tiger Warriors a best mooks
>>35975871If Karas all has tiger warrior training technique as well as Maka, I don't it would be out of the question to have every single citizen of Tianna trained to elite special forces standards.
>>35975713>the Charm doesn't grant its benefits if you are wearing armor.>Charms don't turn off armor, you just take the higher of the two values>Precisely. So charms don't turn off armor, but armor turns off charms?I'm confused...
>>35975897No, we need zenith 5 and AST, then spirit charms first.
>>35975713>Yes. Specifically, the Charm doesn't grant its benefits if you are wearing armor. So then how do we activate the charm if we're wearing armor? Take the armor off mid fight to let the charm grant its benefits?
Rolled 4 (1d10)>>35975921Apparently the essence patterns used to make our flesh harder than iron can't be activated properly if we're wearing armor. That was in the core game too.
>>35975926Actually I think we need Zenith 5 for the Enlightening charm anyway, but it's something I want eventually, not like immediately
>>35975954But then how does the whole >He meant that we can choose to not pop IKB thereby using the armour soak and saving essence.>Exactly.thing work if we can't pop IKB when we need it and not use the armors soak? That just doesn't make sense seeing as EF says the charm cannot be active as long as we are wearing armor, then immediately supports the point of using armor and then popping IKB
>>35975740>Yo EF, you got time to talk about what you meant about not liking stunts? It's a long rant, so I'll do that on the Ask.fm in a bit.
>>35975989Tell MP I love them next time you see each other.
>>35975953The charm can ACTIVATE but just doesn't grant benefits. In other words, soak NEVER stacks but you always use the highest value you have. The only bonuses that stack are those where it explicitly says "this will stack", because in this system almost nothing stacks. If you're wearing an armor that gives you 1 soak, another suit of armor under the first one which also gives you 1 soak, have an active charm that gives you 1 soak, a different charm that ALSO gives you 1 soak, a magical forcefield that gives you 1 soak, and a blessing from the God of Trying To Stack Unstackable Bonuses that gives you 1 soak......then you have 1 soak, not 6 soak.
>>35975953>So then how do we activate the charm if we're wearing armor? You don't. It's one or the other. Wearing armor doesn't cost an essence point to soak an attack though, making it more efficient to soak using armor rather than Iron Kettle Body. You use Iron Kettle Body as a emergency way to protect yourself from serious harm if find yourself without armor in a battle, not a complete substitute and replacement for armor
>>35976024I will eagerly await for Exaltedfag to tell me that, then.
>>35976038>The charm can ACTIVATE but just doesn't grant benefits.Right, so you mean that if our armor soak is 1 and IKB is 2, we can use our armor soak fighting extra's and have 1 soak, then when we fight bigger enemies we can pop IKB, which gives us only the 2 soak from IKB, and the armor at that point does nothing because it's the lower value and popping the charm uses the charms (or highest) soak value outright. So it would go like>Fighting mooks, using our armor soak>Have 1 soak total (source: Armor)>Big meanie shows up, we pop IKB>Have 2 soak total (source: IKB)Then 'benefit' we would get would be the utility of saving the essence by not popping IKB for fighting the extra's.This about right?
>>35976043>You use Iron Kettle Body as a emergency way to protect yourself from serious harm if find yourself without armor in a battle, not a complete substitute and replacement for armorIKB is more powerful than any armor except for some high-grade magical armors, though, so it absolutely IS a complete substitute and replacement for armor. It just has the drawback of costing you 1 mote to activate. And the extra advantage of not being cumbersome or slowing you down in any way, being invisible (leading to people underestimating your sturdiness), and taking effect in a single turn rather than wasting entire minutes donning armor.
>>35976061I just did, you dolt.>>35976099Yes, but that would happen only once you get the upgrade to IKB, which is Zenith 5.
>>35976128>Yes, but that would happen only once you get the upgrade to IKB, which is Zenith 5.Right, I forgot that IKB for us only gives 1 soak currently, derp I'm getting tired. Thanks for clarifying that for my sleep deprived brain.
>>35976061>>35976128Its bad that I'm blushing right?
>>35976104True, but with a limited pool of essence, soaking with Iron Kettle Body becomes impractical. So it comes down to a choice: Use Iron Kettle Body for superior protection but at the opportunity cost of having to stay on the defensive all the time because all of your essence has to be spent on defense rather than attack. Or you wear armor, which does not have the same defensive qualities Of Iron Kettle Body but does not require essence to be spent to reduce incoming damage. >And the extra advantage of not being cumbersome or slowing you down in any way, being invisible (leading to people underestimating your sturdiness), and taking effect in a single turn rather than wasting entire minutes donning armor. This is also true. But there are also armor donning charms that let you put on armor within seconds rather than minutes, make armor as light as normal clothing and let you store armor Elsewhere until needed making armor more practical for covert stuff.
Rolled 5 (1d10)>>35976282>all of your essence1/6.Your hyperbolic whining is disgusting.
>>35976282>armor donning charms that let you put on armor within seconds rather than minutes, make armor as light as normal clothing and let you store armor Elsewhere until needed making armor more practical for covert stuff. Those are 24 xp of charms, though, whereas IKB is just 8.
>>35976309>>35976282Also yes, what he said. IKB is 1 Essence, you have 6 Essence. I get the need to use hyperbole, but 1 out of 6 is not even close to "all".
>>35976313True. There's a cost to everything.
>>35976328>>35976309My mistake. All was a poor choice of word.
TLDR: Give armor to our minions and mooks and DB's, IKB outweighs the disadvantages armor would bring us where we are at now.
>>35976309>>35976328>>35975713And I see where I made my mistake. Iron Kettle Body is a scene long Defense, not per attack.
>>35976352To say nothing of how satisfying it is to watch arrows and spear shatter and splinter over out perfectly toned abs.
Rolled 1 (1d10)>>35976406>Iron Kettle Body is a scene long Defense, not per attack....you thought it was per attack? No wonder you thought it was shit and that we needed armor.
>>35976430We need to bounce a arrow off our ass or tits back at the person who shot it at us.
>>35976406The pre-req for it was per attack
>>35976431>>35976454My apologies. I now see where my misunderstanding was coming from and now see that Iron Kettle body is a kick ass charm. It wasn't my intention to be a whiny douche nozzle.
Rolled 4 (1d10)>>35976489>It wasn't my intention to be a whiny douche nozzle.I forgive you for your mistake, but will emphasize that until now you were a whiny nozzle indeed.
>>35975108IKB works by making your skin hard. Armor works by getting hit instead of your skin. If your skin is getting hit, then clearly the armor has stopping doing it's job.
>>35975320>I was talking about the greatest magical armor in the setting.Nigga we've never even seen mid-tier magical armor, never mind the very best.
>>35977006Well Irene's is actually pretty great, if it's like it's canon counterpart it's a four dot artifact built specifically for DBs of her caste
>>35977048Aspect, not Caste. Dragoon-Bloods don't have castes.
>>35977006>>35977048Five-dot if it's a First Age version of it, which considering where they found it it probably is
>>35977075Yes that, thank you
>>35976313Indeed but it allows us more essence to spend on other stuff.Plus we can have a ton of different armors and uniforms stored elsewere allowing us to infiltrate the enemy or allow us to be lost in a large formation or a crowd.
