For House & Dominion: Home Front Quest Shore Leave Rescindedhttp://houseanddominion.wikia.com/wiki/House_%26_Dominion_Complete_Archivehttp://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=House%20and%20DominionYou are Sonia Reynard, Attack Wing Leader and Knight of the House of Jerik-Dremine! While you were out on the front lines you command a fleet of attack ships, raiding enemy convoys and disrupting logistics. The efforts of you and your Wing commanders not only damaged and delayed enemy preparations for their upcoming offensive but enriched your House thanks to the capture of numerous enemy ships and their resulting bounties. You returned home to a hero's welcome, parades and awards. Along with them has come the realisation that your upwards advancement in rank within the House is now stalled due to previous choices to stay out of the political field. The focus of your efforts have since been to get your career back on track, promoting yourself as a candidate to become a Baron some day. This may take some time but you're determined to move forward.Dealing with appointments and visits to distant locations have begun to take up more of your time but you were still able to visit with family and spend some time on your land.In the few months spent on leave you've convinced the Harmen family to invest in the possibility of a terraforming deal with House Veritas and traded starships with House Pentaris. The war bond drive had a high number of donations thanks to your input and most importantly the House Posat problem was dealt with adding another world to the House.Your land hondings now include a noticeable percentage of the surface of Rioja. Few nobles within the House will be able to overlook this. Winifred has warned you that just as many may be jelous of your latest acquisition. It's not like you need to hold on to all of it, most could probably be sold to your fellow nobles once the planet has finished terraforming.
Time was spent hunting for a small band of pirates in the Smugglers Run who were using falsified ID's and cargo manifests to steal weapons and equipment. Using the stolen components they'd built up a number of ships with which to conduct raids. They may not have expected your determination to find those that had attacked your new colony, especially since they'd stolen materials belonging to another House. In the process of tracking them down you and yours uncovered weaknesses in regional security that had been exploited and worked to correct the problems before more competent pirates or terrorists could make sue of them. Changes will be made to relations with the various asteroid bases in the Avoubic system and salvage contracts within the Run. It's a shame they won't directly favour your company. With that taken care of you went to see the Forbearance which is largely finished being rebuilt. Skeletal docking clamps and repair arms still cover entire sections of the vessel but they've moved past major hull and structural work and into other features. The colony of Kaartinen seemed to be recovering from its civil war nicely though politically the planet is still split and may be at risk of fracturing into smaller nations. While there you toured the memorials and picked up a pair of medals in the city you saved from certain destruction. A conversation with Baron Winifred following her arrival above Rioja was interrupted by news that the Neeran had expanded their offensive. While their push towards the main nav relay in Shallan space is largely being checked by the fleets there another group has made a jump through deep space without the assistance of the Nav Relay system. Their aim seems to be to hit the Pandora Cluster and the Alliance logistics bases located there which would cut off the fleets in Shallan space from much of their supplies.Worse is that your father is based there.
>>35813917>It's a shame they won't directly favour your company.Well, it's still okay. We're doing it for House and Dominion after all.I wasn't around for the end of the last thread, so I couldn't ask this then. Did Myrish Avun like the weapon Sonia sent her? Was it exotic enough? Hope your wrist is doing better :)
>>35814022>Did Myrish Avun like the weapon Sonia sent her? Was it exotic enough?>Knight Myrish Avun - Preference: rare weapons"That was really special. Thank you." You rarely see Dro'all grin quite so widely. "It's actually really fun to use. Impractical. I'd never want to use it in a real battle unless as a psychological weapon to scare the boots off of less experienced ground troops.">Wristonly slightlyGiven the scale of the offensive and insufficient numbers of ships nearby an emergency recall of all crews has been issued. Shore leave has been rescinded.Deciding that the trade deal with House Veritas was too important to delay you hired mercenaries to retrieve your father and continued to South Reach. While you may not be the most skilled negotiator your assurances and offers to personally cover certain expenses helped both sides advance towards what may be a finished contract in the days ahead. With that taken care of you headed the Pandora Cluster to get your father and help your friends. RSS has also prepared a small salvage fleet which is being commanded by Nikolov. They're waiting for your signal to jump into the cluster.Taking your Excalibur Battlecruiser ahead you intended to scout out the landing zone before calling in your salvage fleet. It will take them the better part of a week once they jump from their last Nav Relay and once they've done so they can't turn back. It will only take you another day to get there.Intel reports that the Neeran main fleets have attacked the logistics depots and fleet bases in two regions. There are also the same ones most likely to have SP Torpedo reserves shipped in from Terran and Rovinar space.Raider groups have begun to spread out into the remainder of the cluster attacking smaller convoys, transports and bases. None hav arrived in the region where your salvage fleet would jump in. Yet.Do you want to give Nikolov the order to jump or not?
>>35814505>"That was really special. Thank you." You rarely see Dro'all grin quite so widely. Hooray!>Do you want to give Nikolov the order to jump or not?I think it might be prudent to wait. We really have no idea how this situation will develop at the moment. If other players want them to jump in, we should probably move the entry point further away from the enemy.Could we tell them to turn around mid-jump if things become too dangerous in this galaxy?
>>35814505Can we contact the local PCG Militia commander and see what their situation is? If they're going to sally to the 'northern' dwarf galaxy at this route or concentrate on defending the big one.iirc, our RSS fleet has a lance class as the center of the defense force. Unless the defenses of this immediate galaxy are shit, we should have the firepower to fend off smaller raider groups, and we can probably hire some mercs to add to the defense force. Are we able to contact the J-D fleet?
>>35814745>iirc, our RSS fleet has a lance class as the center of the defense force. If I remember TSTG's description of the Lance class's combat effectiveness correctly, it's a ship that's more suited to scaring of raiders and low budget pirates. It's supposed to fare really poorly against SP torps or plasma cannons because its design gives it poor structural strength. So bringing it here might not be a good idea.
>>35814505It might be a better idea to wait for now until we can get a clearer picture of just what we are facing here. I do not want to risk our salvage ships running into a Neeran raiding party.
>>35814697>Could we tell them to turn around mid-jump if things become too dangerous in this galaxy? No.>It will take them the better part of a week once they jump from their last Nav Relay and once they've done so they can't turn back.>I think it might be prudent to wait. We really have no idea how this situation will develop at the moment.Do you intended to wait at your current location or proceed to the DHI shipyard? There is a message from your father. The Mercenaries you hired evacuated him when his base was attacked. A lot of people didn't make it despite Marines attempting to force the mercs to take more aboard.>>35814745>Can we contact the local PCG Militia commander and see what their situation is? If they're going to sally to the 'northern' dwarf galaxy at this route or concentrate on defending the big one.The militia is staying on the defensive for the most part. All Militia commanders have been ordered to rally any ships they can get theirs hands on in their local areas and hold off the raiders until they can be reinforced. Gathering those reinforcements is proving difficult as many companies and groups with their own ships want to be prepared to defend their own holdings should the Neeran raiders continue to spread out. The Militia also lacks the funding to simply hire more Mercs and are resorting to commissioning many as privateers. Most Factions Alliance assets are being pulled in towards the main battle sites leaving everything except for the nav relays and a few logistics bases poorly defended. Active duty Alliance ships not guarding vital or irreplaceable assets are directed to join the counter attack as soon as possible. You're presently still in reserve status.>iirc, our RSS fleet has a lance class as the center of the defense force.Correct. Its heavy phase cannons may have trouble tracking smaller corvettes but could fight off battlecruisers and battleships 2 at a time provided they didn't ram.
>>35815095>Do you intended to wait at your current location or proceed to the DHI shipyard?>There is a message from your father. The Mercenaries you hired evacuated him when his base was attacked. A lot of people didn't make it despite Marines attempting to force the mercs to take more aboard.Proceed to the shipyard. Must hug dad.I'd also like to suggest to buy a Silent Hunter or two for Sonia's company. Those things would be very useful when it comes to investigating potential salvage sites without alerting the competition, and a cloaked ship would have probably had less trouble rescuing dad as well.
>>35815265>silent huntersSounds like something no one would let a civi company keep, unless we formed some sort of Rovinar-based RSS group.>>35815095If the militia is staying put, I'd like to bring in the RSS assets. If the PCGM can't afford all the mercs in the area, see if we can't pick up some extra mercs to hold the area and link up with our RSS force.Any chance Alosh Amila [merc that flew the Jenning with our unit and was part of the Alliance Mixed Attack Wing training] is in the area and available? Or the Big Rush merc outfit?>message from our fatherThen they completed their given objective.
>>35815095We move on to the shipyard, must ensure the safety of our shipyard after all. I wonder if the Neerans got a Command Ship with them?
>>35813624FOR HOUSE AND DOMINION
>>35815501>Sounds like something no one would let a civi company keep, unless we formed some sort of Rovinar-based RSS group.A few months ago I suggested asking the Rovinar government to loan us one but TSTG replied it would be cheaper to buy a Silent Hunter. And making a distinction between civilian and military property is probably pretty hard in the Dominion in many cases.
>>35815095PCCG Green Zone. This is the area currently deemed safe from raider activity. Militia units from the zone have been forming into fleets to assist other areas under attack but the response is lackluster. Most would rather protect their own worlds and let the Alliance deal with it. If only they'd been like this when the Dominion tried to invade.>>35815501Most of the mercs you know are currently in Shallan space or have signed on with the Alliance. There are other units available.>>35815778>but TSTG replied it would be cheaper to buy a Silent Hunter.Just don't expect the cloak to be the latest or greatest.>>35815265>>358155242 for proceeding to the shipyard. You tell Nikolov to wait there as the situation is still too unpredictable. You set course and two days later you arrive at the shipyard. Where on other visits the system was quiet and most of the newly built corvettes were docked awaiting transfer, this time the system is far more active. Some of the EX-K's and Clarents are here and no less than 20 new corvettes are conducting exercises in close proximity to the station at any given time. A few others are conducting drills elsewhere in the system but each squadron is positioned so that they can quickly micro jump to the planet. After docking at the station it takes you ten minutes to find your father and take a lift to his position."Dad!" "Sonia!"After a heartfelt hug you notice that your old man is sporting a buzz cut now."Are you okay?""Just a minor scrape. Those mercenaries you sent tried their hardest to get me out of there but the first ship I was on was crippled not long after we left the station. I've never had to conduct a zero-g ship to ship transfer before and landed a bit hard. If it wasn't for them I don't think I would have made it off that station in one piece.""You should have evacuated." You tell him."We tried, but we all wanted to get as many of the supplies out as we could.">What say?
>>35816199"Well let's hope mom likes the new look, personally I think it suits you. It gives you that veteran soldier look to you. Anyways, how bad is the situation here?"
>>35816199"I don't like it, but I certainly can't blame a soldier for doing their duty in war."We need to contact Winifred and inform her that we've got an RSS team prepared to jump into the cluster. See if we can't arrange to have them jump in with additional Dominion or J-D forces, or secure additional escorts to meet them and get them to this location. Please tell me the 'load them with repair supplies, fuel tanks and bring the fuel refinery ship' idea wasn't blocked. And then as punishment for doing his duty and trying to evac supplies first, we put our father as the liaison to our RSS force for logistics purposes.
>>35816412>Please tell me the 'load them with repair supplies, fuel tanks and bring the fuel refinery ship' idea wasn't blocked.>If you want they could escort the refinery up to the shipyard. There were not other posts about that one way or another last week. And since no one else voted against it I'm going to say yes the Refinery is there.>We need to contact Winifred and inform her that we've got an RSS team prepared to jump into the cluster. See if we can't arrange to have them jump in with additional Dominion or J-D forces, or secure additional escorts to meet them and get them to this location.Initially reluctant to be seen giving your company preferential treatment the fact that they're carrying supplies and more importantly have a fuel refinery ship with them is enough.Daska should arrive tomorrow with the corvette units from the Run, while the rest of the fleet should arrive in another 7-10 days."Let's hope mom likes the new look. I think it suits you, it gives you that veteran soldier look to you.""You like it?""I... wouldn't quite say that.""Well that's something I can live with.""And I certainly can't blame a soldier for doing their duty in war so it's fine, really. Anyways, how bad is the situation here?""I'm not sure to be honest. An Admiral came through here a few days ago and took every assault corvette that wasn't manned by the system defenders. Most likely for the counter attack that's going on right now.""How do we have any left?""A shipment to the front was delayed so this admiral took them. I don't know more than that. The good news is we still have the fuel reserves that they would have taken for the flight to Shallan Space."
>>35817116>Initially reluctant to be seen giving your company preferential treatment the fact that they're carrying supplies and more importantly have a fuel refinery ship with them is enough.Well she did say people would find a way to complain about us seeing to the Veritas stuff instead of immediately deploying...Let them find a way to bitch about us collecting strategic assets for the front along the way!
Daksa arrives ahead of schedule having pushed the engines on her ships. Her two carrier groups and attack corvette squadrons are added to the local defenses bringing the total up to:240x Attack Corvettes36x Mk 3 Assault corvettes 24x Attack Cruisers16x Combat Frigates*12x Light Cruisers*2x Carrier4x Fast battleships**=assigned to carrier groupsThe base commander, Commodore Stendahl, is concerned about system defense, especially if most of the fleet were to depart for one of the larger battles or to go off hunting raiders. Colonel Firth has apparently sent along a warning that raiders have entered this dwarf galaxy. His main force has destroyed a few Neeran Battlecruisers but cant handle everything. They're requesting any ships the base can spare. It seems Windsor has been named the garrison fleet commander and he intends to guard the shipyard no matter what."We can't afford to be spreading out our forces now. We should wait for them to come to us. Then my pilots will kick their asses.""How many SP Torpedoes do you have on site?" You ask him"40 and my orders say they're to stay in this system.">Your orders?
>>35817648Are there any Mk3's due to be completed in the near future? Are any of Daska's forces elites or veterans? Lord help us if we've only got training wings.Any estimates from Firth on the number or size of Neeran raiding forces?I take it that the RSS group will arrive with the other JD forces in 7-10 days, just to confirm that?Without knowing what kind of pilots we've got, I'm loathe to issue deployment orders on the risk that only our ACRS and MK3 forces are veterans
>>35817648Well Windsor can go fuck himself. But seriously, waiting for them to come to us is a bad idea as we have no idea how much damage they can cause if bunch up like this. What I'd like is if we took the Carrier groups, the Attack Cruisers and the Mk 3s and put them on counter raiding duty while the 240 Attack Corvettes can act as reaction forces and a suitable defense force to frighten away potential enemy raiders.
>>35817863>Are there any Mk3's due to be completed in the near future?24 of them will be built between now and when the main fleet arrives but only half of those will have their minor systems properly finished in that time. Some of the Houses that buy them set up certain systems and interior sections differently, that's taken care of after delivery.>Are any of Daska's forces elites or veterans? Lord help us if we've only got training wings. The Carrier groups are all veterans, mostly. 90% of the corvette squadrons are technically trainees, but most are of good quality since they're competing for entrance into the elite units. (Since they make the big money.)>Any estimates from Firth on the number or size of Neeran raiding forces? They're jamming and using intel gained on the existing sensor arrays to make the numbers harder to estimate. 20 carriers is the minimum guess and upwards of 70 other ships which could be battlecruisers or attack cruisers. They could even be decoys using their FTL corvettes.>>35817863>I take it that the RSS group will arrive with the other JD forces in 7-10 days, just to confirm that?Yes.Working on a map for you guys.
>>35818146That said, Winsor is correct. We sure as hell can not let this facility be damaged or destroyed.>>35818167ouch. Minimum of 320 Neeran corvettes just with the carriers. We've got 20 squadrons of trainees in Attack CRVs...I'm thinking we send Daska to back up Firth with 5 squadrons and half of the attack cruisers. We'll take command of another 5 squadrons and the other squadron of attack cruisers and see if we can't conduct anti-scout operations in the sectors near the DHI facility. If need be, we can be a reaction force to any loss of communications with the facility or act as a reserve to help Daska/Firth if they find a vulnerable group of Neeran.Didn't the RSS excal have most of our personal SP stockpile? We may want to issue some of those around...
Intel update: Raiders have attack a sensor array in force. The defenders managed to get off a warning about a medium cruiser being present. The Militia has reinforced a number of key areas but cant cover everything. Their remaining ships will continue to search for the raider groups. Colonel Firth warns that a number of stations and facilities in the region are still unwelcoming to outside military presence. They may not be of help, or could even provide assistance to the enemy. At present there's no evidence of them doing so or they would have been raided by the militia but it could happen.
>>35818423>Didn't the RSS excal have most of our personal SP stockpile?A good portion of it. I believe you have 180 aboard. So are you guys for helping with the raider situation, perhaps as >>35818423recommended, or for taking a unit to some of the larger battles going on?
>>35818891Let's deal with the raiding situation first and we'll see how things develop from there. >>35818423Will support, seems better than what I came up with.
>>35818891As the quoted guy, I'd like to give Daska 60 SP torps for her force and provide the defensive forces with 40 SP torps."If you shoot them we'll settle the debt later. If you don't, I'll collect them later. If you didn't need them at all, you're damned lucky."
>>35818423Sounds like a plan to me. Those raiding forces can do the most damage at the moment, the larger fleets are more ponderous and a beacon for Alliance and Militia counterattacks. In either our House or Alliance capacity, can we take overall command of all of our House assets in this system?
>In either our House or Alliance capacity, can we take overall command of all of our House assets in this system? You can, you're the highest ranking Knight from your House in system at the moment.Daska and a few of her people have secured enough Mercs to fill out the rest of a Mixed Attack Squadron so she'll actually have a means of deploying most of those torpedoes.Your Excalibur could burn through the remaining 80 torpedoes in a single engagement if you wanted to. This ship eats ammo.Once the SP torpedoes are assigned you contact the CO's of the other units. "If you shoot them we'll settle the debt later. If you don't, I'll collect them later. If you didn't need them at all, you're damned lucky."A few people laugh at this then report ready to depart. >>35818146>What I'd like is if we took the Carrier groups, [etc]Speaking of the carrier groups, do you guys want to keep them both in system to help protect the shipyard?Roll 6d100 for Daska's group

>>35820533Gotta request. Can we set up a coded messaging system? Basically, every 3 minutes or so every system in the sector sends out a coded message that basically says "I am not currently being attacked" should an enemy chose to attack a system they will either not jam it, in which case it will immeditly send out a warning, or jam it to prevent it from warning us, which will also prevent the all clear signal. At which point a the main reaction fleet swings by and tries to take out the enemy force. He who tries to defend everything defends nothing, but she who smashes the attackers in their first raid defends quite admirably.
Rolled 87 (1d100)>>35820894>Can we set up a coded messaging system? Basically, every 3 minutes or so every system in the sector sends out a coded message that basically says "I am not currently being attacked"It may use up a percentage of the local bandwidth but sure. Let's see if the Militia can get that into place quickly and covering how much of the region.Daska's half of the unit jumps in on a mixed group of Neeran raider craft while some of their corvettes are docking for repairs aboard a carrier. Militia forces jump in from the opposite direction which should have been more than enough but the raiders scatter in all directions, even those who were docked launch with a few seconds to spare. The attack still claims the carrier and damages some of the larger craft. The attack corvettes score multiple kills against the similar sized enemy ships before they can jump out. Daska contacts you with a status report."Be advised, these raiders are not armed with the new enemy cannons. They're using the more conventional one's."Drake and some mercs head off another group trying to evade pursuit. The veterans do remarkably well, killing two battlecruisers and a carrier while the mercenaries and trainees also rack up some kills. Unfortunately the latter two groups also take quite a bit of damage in the process. When the surviving raiders retreat most of them are unable to pursue. "This is Drake, requesting salvage teams. My little guys got a bit beat up."You could probably hire a team from one of the other ports nearby. They'll need an escort.A local sensor array has detected enemy fleet movements. Raider groups spreading our from their entry point. Half of Daska's squadrons are out of action because they're either damaged or protecting those that are. Do you want to send out replacement squadrons, trade places with Daska's team or let the militia handle things for a bit?
>>35821139>The attack corvettes score multiple kills against the similar sized enemy ships before they can jump outAre the enemy raiders operating with FTL corvettes based out of their carriers? >>35821447>Are the enemy raiders operating with FTL corvettes based out of their carriers?Yes, though that may just be so they can get repairs or refuel from the carriers. The carriers are not entering any of the systems that are being attacked.>If there are local mercs or salvage teams, get them hired. How large of an escort do you want to provide?>transfer forces from Reynard Wing to Daska Wing to make up for crippled/damaged ships. This okay with everyone or are there any objections?
>>35821506I'm okay with that.

>>35821762That works fine. Priority is to recover our ships and ensure the Neeran can't recover any of their own wrecks. If they can fit a few enemy corvettes with intact systems, great. If not, escorts are to ensure the Neeran wrecks aren't returned to combat. (leaving intact FTL stuff wouldn't hurt, though... we could loot it later or use the wreckage as potential traps)
Rolled 12, 10, 2, 1 = 25 (4d20)So far your own patrols of the sectors surrounding the shipyard have turned up nothing. You're getting reports that enemy raider groups are spreading out though so it may only be a matter of time.Daska and the militia rush to intercept the raiders apparently closing in on a sensor array before it can be damaged. As expected some refuse to take part for one reason or another, some simply because they're difficult to contact.Daska and the Militia are able to intercept one entire raider group before they can get within range of the array. The trainees seem to be getting the hang of front line combat and manage to get through the fighing with only minimal damage. A few pilots are able to score multiple kills. Daska's reports single them out for transfer to the assault corvette units as soon as possible. The militia ships also take some damage but are able to weather the worst of it. They'll just need some repairs.Contact with the merc unit headed for the sensor array has been lost. You find out a half hour later that the sensor array has been destroyed.Daska contacts you. Her manner seems as cold as usual but you've known her long enough to know when she's annoyed."We need more ships out here sir. With the trainees I cant risk splitting up into units smaller than three squadrons."Drake has only just made it back with the salvage team. Repairs are underway. With the replacements she and Daska will be ready to head back out again in another couple of hours. Do you want to deploy more ships or continue with the current setup?
>>35822480Transfer Alex's squadron and another corvette squadron to Daska's command. That should allow her to deploy 3 groups of Cruiser + 2 CRV squadrons.Have we locked down any 'standard' force deployments in these raider groups? I'm loathe to deploy too many more squadrons, as the DHI facility is a damned important facility.
>>35822770Sounds good.>>35822480Can we get that com network idea spread to the rest of the theater? Cutting down response times from hours to minutes will cause Neeran casualties to rise quickly. Of course, they'll probably use the same tactic on us once they get to raiding, but honestly I'm mildly surprised that they didn't use it before.Amusing "why didn't we think of that" once the Neeran realize what we are doing?
>>35822480Send out Alex to her along with 4 more squadrons of Corvettes. We can hold the yard with the remaining 6 squadrons in reserve and hope that there are easier targets for the enemy to hit other than this yard.
>>35822770>Have we locked down any 'standard' force deployments in these raider groups?Numbers wise they're mostly made up of corvettes and no more than 2 carriers have been sighted together. There can be as many as 4 Battlecruisers and/or usually similar numbers of attack cruisers. Most of the attack cruisers encountered are the "Corsair" type. >>35822844>Amusing "why didn't we think of that" once the Neeran realize what we are doing? They did, but there were longer periods between check-ins due to lower levels of FTL com infrastructure and longer distances. At 3 minute intervals the techs believe local networks will start to experience serious com lag if the enemy begins making multiple fake out attacks. Especially given how many systems are reporting in or may be calling in distress signals or simple sightings. At the moment you're fine. Civilian com traffic is being kept to a minimum to prevent that from happening.Daska's teams are going out to try and hunt down more raiders.Roll 3d100 for locating. Your wing commanders report long range jamming while closing in on their targets and you soon lose contact. Alex is able to contact you again within a few minutes. His unit engages a group of raiders and chases down their Carriers and Battlecruisers, preventing any of the heavier ships from escaping despite making several jumps. The Militia ships also put in a good showing, made up largely of newly commissioned privateers they're able to do as well as the massed rookies. Your people avoid any serious damage through the fight, staying back and focusing fire with their twin linked phase cannons. It takes longer for the others to resume contact. Your fleet was ready to jump just in case though. The raiders were able to destroy the drive component processing facilities on the surface before they Daska had even arrived. Their fleet consisted of a previously unidentified medium cruiser class featuring a prominent bow that reminiscent of an ancient Trireme. It also had plenty of plasma cannon turrets, spinal mount weapons, missiles and tractor beams. The fire from it and the rest of the fleet prevented a close engagement. Strong ECM from surrounding ships made precise targeting with SP Torpedoes difficult and they were unable to land a crippling blow on the craft before it jumped out. "We destroyed six Battlecruisers and 12 attack cruisers of a new type along with 8 corvettes. All of our SP's failed to penetrate the bow armor of the Medium or it used tractor beams to block them with wreckage.""How many SP's did you use?""Thirty."Shit."Where is it now?""We lost track of it because of the jamming and I was reluctant to pursue and risk having it jump us without reinforcements. It must be in the area still. What are your orders?"

>>35824886>Some kind of anti Super-Heavy ramming ship? Could they identify if it was a carrier or repair ship?It could be designed for ramming, or it's just to intimidate. News has come in that the largest fleet battles have shifted to control of a few salvage yards housing a large percentage of the enemy ship wrecks recovered by the Factions so far. It would make things less stressful for our crews, I hope.Drake points out it would also give the other trainees some experience since apparently her people apparently have this figured out now.Alex is ambushed by some of the ships his people are pursuing, his more experienced pilots taking the brunt of the damage in the opening attack. The corvettes arrive a second later and quickly turn the tide of the battle back in their favour. Soon Daska arrives to assist but by that point the remaining enemies have begun to scatter and jump out. The Carriers were never encountered, probably using the distraction caused by the ambush to escape. Alex's attack cruisers need to come in for repairs as several of them took crippling damage. The corvettes focus fire on the small craft for the most part while you drop an SP Torp into the engines of each carrier to prevent them from escaping. The trainees are doing well, using their smaller profile and maneuverability to their advantage. Several of them are natural aces and it looks like there may be some promotions later.A trio of Neeran attack cruisers strafe you from below forcing you to go evasive. If only you weren't in a Battlecruiser, the only Faction battle cruiser here, you'd be a much harder target to hit. Your cannon fire knocks down the shields of one allowing the corvettes to quickly kill it, but shortly after your own shields stutter and fail under the hail of fire. One hit punches up through the bow. Rolling to present a smaller profile two more plasma cannon shots hit you amidships, cratering your port side armor and blasting through the armored shutters protecting the drive plates. One last shot hits the sublight drives, disabling half your engines and two of the aft launchers."Divert power reserves to the shields!""Completing restart. All shields restored."The surviving attack cruisers flash past you at close range, forcing the rookies to cease fire for fear of hitting you. Both jump out before your starboard turrets can damage them. All other targets have either escaped or been destroyed by your corvette forces. Only a couple of ships require repairs and they're minimal. Your ship is crippled. Salvage teams will arrive soon to pick you up. "Well said, though it may be difficult to do so for very long. Still it should be sufficient for a month or two.""What would be standard procedure?""With his previous assignment for the Royal Logistics Corps it would depend on where the new bases are set up or, or if we intend to run supplies through this station for the foreseeable future. Its very likely he may end up assigned here for some time. South Reach is an option but most of the colonies there are becoming largely self sustaining so there wouldn't be a need.I'll see what else I can do Captain.""Thank you sir. I'm not certain we would make much of a difference this late in the fighting but it would certainly render our House fleet ineffective for some time. We must maintain and expand our fleet strength not waste it here, but we also can't simply avoid fighting.I'll know in a few more days if they're desperate enough that we have to join the heavy fighting. They've already appropriated our Helios with promise of compensation should it be lost."
>>35839721Uh, are we supposed to say something?
>>35840492Sorry, perhaps I should have. >Typing...
A day later you're summoned to an emergency briefing aboard the command ship. You and Daska are among less than a dozen present."This briefing is classified. You will not share its contents with anyone until given clearance to do so even if some of it leaks and is seen on civilian news networks. Six hours ago Neeran super heavy cruisers were drawn within weapons range of a small moon acting as the anchor point for the largest salvage holding yard."The displays light up showing a half dozen of the ships breaking through cloaking fields and what appear to be cloud formations partially obscuring the area. A Faction Mega class attempting to retreat from them is cut it half by a plasma cannon beam that must have come from a Scorcher. You soon see that the ship which fired it must have been a Super Carrier at one point but one entire side of it looks to have been ripped out by battle damage and later replaced by a spinal mount weapon. Once clear of the cloaking fields Neeran salvage craft begin recovery operations while still fighting off faction warships. The recording skips ahead until one of the new AEC's break through the cloaking fields from the direction of the systems star. It's assault corvette contingent sweeps through the area turning the already chaotic battle space into an absolute madhouse. The Neeran ships have moved within range of the moon by now at which point some of the new Republic orbital defense guns are deployed. You've seen the specs on them, built around a single plasma cannon 2km in length it should be able to kill a Faction Medium in a single hit. More than thirty of them open fire, stationed near the moon's horizon line. Each shot creates a 4km wide crater in the Neeran shields which doesn't quickly recover. Every third plasma beam punches through to strike the hull, doing damage equivalent to what the Devourer's gun did to their heavies. A single shot seems to be enough to take out anything blocking the fire lanes.
After a few minutes of attempting to weather this storm the Neeran begin to pull back and retreat. The Alliance forces don't let up for an instant. SP Torpedo runs either from the assault corvettes, or Republic starfighter units arriving after fighting their way through the system inflict more losses on the damaged fleet. The recording cuts out an the lighting resumes normal levels. "Intel believes the Neeran are preparing for a full retreat." States the Baron. "As they had forced the Alliance to expend most of their Veckron torpedoes elsewhere in the cluster they were likely unprepared for our new weapons.""What about the Dominion main fleet?" Asks Admiral Graham."They've also forced the Neeran fleets back but it's cost them most of the mobile asteroid forts. Fortunately the Helios siege guns were largely able to detach and retreat. A Republic line fleet is helping them push the enemy back in their region, though the losses to conventional forces have been heavy. The Alliance is requesting reinforcements to help maintain pressure during the enemy withdrawal. I would like to hear your opinions. Should we assist in the hope of recovering valuable salvage or help sweep the remaining raiders in our current region?">What say?
>>35841109"I'd say we move in and grab what we can from the battlefield. If the enemy is in retreat like the intel suggests then the risk should be within acceptable limits considering the reward. Furthermore I have a small salvage fleet in the area that could probably help with salvaging operations. It's a high risk high reward job but is that not what's made this House what it is today? However do we have any data about Neeran raids on SP stockpiles? If they got some that we may be up for a nasty surprise that I would rather some other House got to face instead."Salvage for the House, Salvage for RSS and we get to honor of defeating a Neeran fleet. What's not to like?
>>35841109We shouldn't send our newbies or outdated units like the light cruisers. Our elite forces can probably get the job done with minimal casualties
You consider before replying. "I'd say we move in and grab what we can from the battlefield. If the enemy is in retreat like the intel suggests then the risk should be within acceptable limits considering the reward. Furthermore I have a small salvage fleet in the area that could probably help with salvaging operations. It's a high risk high reward job but is that not what's made this House what it is today?""The key will be to not get everyone killed if some of them turn to fight." points out one of the Knights you're unfamiliar with. "Their cannons can do even more damage now and our battlecruisers and light cruisers will be vulnerable in most battles.""Speaking of vulnerable, do we have any data about Neeran raids on SP stockpiles? If they got some then we may be in for a nasty surprise that I would rather some other House got to face instead."Winifred looks into the matter. "Most were evacuated and distributed to nearby fleets before the Neeran arrived in the cluster. It seems no one keeps that many in one place. At worst the enemy may have captured 200 of them. Given the size of their fleet the odds of encountering vessels armed with them would be incredibly low.""In that case our elite forces can probably get the job done with minimal casualties. Salvage for the House, Salvage for RSS and we get the honor of defeating a Neeran fleet. What's not to like?">Any objections to this plan?
>>35841109"The Neeran will still be a formidable force as they retreat, and we'll be without the advantages of the Republic fixed defenses. The Alliance will be loathe to let the Neeran command ship escape without taking a crack at her. We've enough attack squadrons to field a formidable strike force against their retreat, but it may be in our best interests to deploy independently instead of falling under Alliance command in this case. That said, we can not ignore the threat that Neeran raiders gone to ground present to both this facility and the region at large. New logistics chains must be established and secured, and the regions that have seen heavy fighting will likely end up as logistics pits much like Lat'tham space and the Operation Typhoon regions."

>>35842426>Did any J-D salvage assets besides the RSS group make it with Winifred's forces? Some. 4 Y-types and a Moli.>Or could we somehow make the RSS group and some J-D military escorts look like a heftier J-D contribution than it actually is if we are willing to send them into the wake of the Neeran? While keeping more House forces behind than you would otherwise? This would be mostly for political appearances then?
Attempt at an objective assessment here.Sonia is known for being (overly?) aggressive and often a bit of a risk taker.Combined with our recent achievements with Posat and the push for the Veritas deal, would it be wise to advocate further risk to the House's assets on what is essentially a gamble that could cost veteran pilots and expensive ships? If we were on our normal deployment, I have to say that we'd be expected to throw our unit at the retreating Neeran, but we're currently leading forces that should be either on leave or deployed during our next tour.Showing that we can temper our aggression and not over-leverage risks both politically and militarily seems like the more prudent choice politically. Personally, we may gain more by going after the Neeran retreat. The House may not gain as much. Our Helios has already been appropriated.
>>35842515So the RSS group we brought along doubles (or more) the salvage assets available to the House? Nice.It would mostly be for political appearances, yes. Though the more I think about it the less I actually want to risk the RSS group to the front. Just to be clear, the "Assist the Alliance but as an independent force" option also includes salvaging. They have sublight engines to provide counter thrust and to change orbits. They can't mount FTL at the moment and are deployed via an older slightly smaller class of Heavy Carrier you've not personally seen before, though they've been mentioned. Several have been modified specifically to deliver these things.I believe 1 of the guns are being fitted to a Helios hull for testing."I want some of those plasma cannons." Several others at the briefing laugh at this knowing you're perfectly serious."Our intelligence analysts believe there are problems with them." Replies Winifred. "At the moment they may only be useful for system defense due to maintinence issues."She calls up a grainy image of the heavy guns in use. Before the first dozen shots have been fired support ships begin to dock with the exterior. Modified fuel tankers. The structure also begins venting gasses at high pressure, increasing in volume as the battle progresses."That's fuel they're venting." observes one of the admirals."A leak?" As a result they've been losing profits, and market share to Posat Armor quite steadily and once we roll out the armor it will probably get worse. My personal feeling is that we should propose a merger of our domestic competitors and our company into a single company with consolidated R&D and production capacity. This would incidentally probably somewhat protect the remaining shares held by Posat from direct seizure, so they'd probably be in favor of the notion.
>>35852710Wouldn't that violate anti-monopoly laws?

With the damage the Neeran did here, we could make some decent money and a J-D escort could be a good way to give the illusion of J-D contributing more to the war effort than it actually is (combat-wise). Seems most support assisting the Alliance and conducting salvage, which means you have a limited timetable if you're going to hunt down those remaining raiders. In addition to your Wing you have the option to requisition additional forces to assist you in the search. Then we locate places that provide good cover for a raiding force or are poorly documented and recon them in force.Requisition and rotate the Merc mixed unit, the 12 A2 squadrons available, the BCRS squadrons, and 1 of the carrier groups. We'll keep 4 squadrons of the A2's as a reserve/garrison force and rotate them, and possibly the carrier group as well.Try to get everyone some experience while we hunt raiders and get out there in force before the enemy can hopefully entrench completely for a later offensive or raiding spree. If you're asking who we want for our stint helping the Alliance... that depends. Did you want to requisition the Kilo class Medium the House has here to complete the effect?
>>35856582Add in a squadron worth of corvettes to the existing units, as I recall the warlords tend to have really jumbled forces. Have your fun Captain, but if you want to chase after the alliance as planned you may want to hurry along your search for the surviving Raiders." "Yes sir!"After jumping out of the system you have most of the outer hull markings obscured or hit with enough laser fire to make identification difficult.Colonel Firth jumps into the system with his command ship and you follow shortly after, jamming long range coms with your ECM ships. The company director of the first base is furious about being forced to comply in this manner and promises you will all eventually regret these actions. As soon as the lawyers find something that could possibly be of use. And also if you could turn on your IFF's. At any rate nebulous statements of anger are aimed in the general direction your fleet.A suspicious frigate visited the system and conducted scans which put the base on alert. It may have been the same one that scanned the shipyard. The next logistics base is built into a small asteroid, six older manufacturing modules have been dug into the surface with shields and tram networks connecting them. The Colonel is able to board but has to visit each of the separate installations for the information needed as the base is effectively operating as an autonomous, anarcho-syndicalist commune.According to data recovered a pair of Neeran FTL Corvettes attempted to extort supplies and transport ships from them but this failed and they were forced to leave without any serious incident. Analysts from the militia and your House are checking over the data now to see if they can find any leads that might point out where ships are hiding.

If they want to build more corvettes they'll need raw materials and that's the best place. After that conduct scans of accretion disks of black holes large enough to provide cover."Arthur asks if it might be possible to requisition probes for the accretion disc scans given how dangerous they would be."Probably a good idea."Wait, probes. Did you leave that stealthed torpedo back in the Run?This would be a good time to buy more since Aries probably has an outlet at one of the larger stations in the region."If neither of those locations pan out we'll progress to more normal systems with dense asteroid belts or gas giant rings."Using this data the squadrons set out and begin to check systems that fit these properties in the sectors with minimal coverage. There may be survivors but they'll be few and far between. >>35861890>Try not to take everything available.Don't give me ideas.First we should add two A2 squadrons to Verilis wing to balance things out. After that I am thinking we take all four wings along with the Battle Cruiser squadrons and EBON. EBON's fighters will be good to have once we set up shop at a graveyard to start collecting as it can just park it's ass there and deploy everything. Also i was thinking we leave the rest of the squadrons not assigned to a wing and give command of those to Thal. 11th wing maybe? That should leave enough firepower behind should that Medium show it's ugly face again while giving us a good amount of firepower ourselves to make salvage with if we don't just run into graveyards.

Looks like there are no more votes for that. Option 2 it is! Or I was about to post as much, now we're tied. You collect your fleet, take on additional fuel and supplies then head out, escorting the RSS salvage fleet. The additional firepower of the salvage escort will be handy if you come under attack but you sorely hope it's not needed. Which of the two areas of heavy activity are you headed for? This could affect what orders the Alliance sends you, especially if you don't officially report in until you've arrived.
>>35863511>Which of the two areas of heavy activity are you headed for? The hostile forces from the lower orange blob are currently trying to retreat with the other fleet, right?Let's see if we can harass them.
>>35863511The lower blob is retreating to the one closer to Shallan space so we'll go there as they are obviously being pushed. Should be some ships we can snag there as the front moves along.

As your missiles begin to go off they launch plasma balls of their own, adding to the fading explosions and attempting to provide more cover. Their return fire hits several of your corvettes and the RSS escorts. >>35865378The Neeran are attempting to regroup as more of their fleet retreat to this area before jumping on to the next region. The Alliance is also receiving a steady stream of reinforcements but are desperate for more. Both sides are salvaging usable debris whenever possible to increase numbers.Active debris zones are where recently crippled ships are present. They can be repaired more quickly and easily as roving bands of attack ships form both sides haven't been able to finish them off yet. Often there will still be some crew aboard as it has been too dangerous to conduct SAR. As expected you'd be a target for more enemy ships when visiting these sites. The other debris zones tend to have more heavily damaged ships, the crews will generally have been evacuated. You could potentially loot these vessels while no one was looking for munitions or valuable equipment. Jumping them out to other systems to later take for yourself might work but would be dangerous and you could be observed by other Faction ships. You will have to fend off attacks by enemy corvettes and attack cruisers but will have plenty of warning if larger ships are making for your position.Your orders?
>>35865882>Your orders?Let's start working our way through the rear line debris zones. We have the ships to deal with corvettes and cruisers but if anything big shows up we need the time to get out without having to engage them.

We're currently at 274 posts. Just when we're starting to get somewhere and it's getting too late to continue coherently. We have enough pots to run for awhile in the late morning tomorrow. I'd rather get through as much of this as possible this week.>>35865936>rear line debris zones.>>35865999>middle debris zoneDefinitely not the active debris areas yet seems to be the consensus. How about that one off to the right? It's sort of between the mid and rear most ones. There is a slight problem of a wing of Neeran elite corvettes being nearby so that may not be quite as appealing.Other suggestions?See you guys in the morning.
>>35866279I've got an interesting idea...First, is it possible to micro jump around on this map, or would it be required to jump out and then back in?Objective is to jump into one of the 'active' debris zones and slaughter anything Neeran, collect any crews capable of escaping via shuttle, and if possible the battlecruisers are to buddy jump or tow some allied craft to larger allied groups or ships. The Journeymen could in theory pair up and recover larger ships by going without their plasma cannons and latching onto a larger ship. From there, RSS can probably salvage them a bit more safely. The other option would be to simply deploy the attack wings to the active zones and slaughter everything Neeran. Escort carriers recovering allied shuttles if possible during the passes. The third option I see would be to deploy RSS to a debris field while Daska and Verilis' wings go hunt down the enemy elite squadrons harassing the Factions rear groups. They're not in a position to recover any elites crippled there, and RSS could be escorted/assisted by Alex and all of our battlecruisers.
>>35866279>How about that one off to the rightSounds good to me.>>35867124I have not the slightest interest in getting that close to the fighting.
>>35866279I will support going for the right one.>>35867124Although our elites can go against the Neeren's on a 1-1 scale I would still prefer us to stick to salvaging and fighting off raiders. We won't really get much from supporting the push compared to salvaging especially since its our own personal assets taking the risk.
>>35868016Which is why it was a mistake to bring our own personal assets onto an active battlefield. It creates theese kinds of situations were people are reluctant to lose stuff that they own.>>35867124Ill second option 3. Were here we might aswell get some work done.
>>35866279That fucking pic.>>35865882Anyway we do need a solution of how to get the RSS assets with adequate security so they do not get fatalities or lost ships, since our unit would be better hunting neeran in the areas and not doing S&R i think.Sure the alliance might reimburse us for RSS losses, but the opportunity cost of having said assets down as well as the damage to the RSS image would be proportional to said losses. Are there no house units we might feel comfortable letting them guard our RSS ? Both competence and intent wise? [s] yea, our own.- sarcasm [/s]
>>35869883>Which is why it was a mistake to bring our own personal assets onto an active battlefield. It creates theese kinds of situations were people are reluctant to lose stuff that they own. We'd be just as reluctant to deploy House salvage teams in this scenario due. Those active zones are too damned hot for the teams.>>35870112The problem is what House units can guard RSS. If enemy elites go for us, we'll need to intercept them with at least a wing of our own elites. Preferably with battlecruisers supporting them and shielding the salvage group.>>35867124just to be clear, I'm not advocating deployment of RSS (beyond the comment on the Journeymen) with my first suggestion here. I'm suggesting that our attack group move into a zone. Strike wings hunt, skirmish, use Neeran ships for cover from Neeran fire, and generally destroy Neeran ships. The battlecruisers give some support but are generally responsible for conducting buddy jump/tow of allied ships.RSS assets would be deployed to snatch up ships after they're moved near the relative protection of more allied ships, or not at all.My major concern is that we've deployed under FA command, to a major battle. Someone here outranks us, and it is only a matter of time before they look at us and wonder if our elite strike wings couldn't do more if they were thrown at something the enemy wants to defend.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_6aDGA-ynfQAngling towards the enemy corvette wing, your two wings open up from as far out as possible. These Neeran havent been given upgraded craft for no reason, they're certainly worth being tagged as elites. Even with ten squadrons against their six your people are having a hard time. With that underway the salvage team launches at best possible speed. Off to the side you watch the battle progress. Neither side are taking serious losses with a contant attack and retreat, pulling back only to engage again. "Daska, what's your status?""It could be better. "Nikolov, priority on Attack Cruisers and Battlecruisers.""Understood."Nikolov works fast, scooping up a pair of battlecruisers using two of her larger escorts while each of the Atlas grab multiple attack cruisers."Corvettes now entering weapons range." reports sensors "Escorts don't let any shots get through."A storm of turret fire breaks up their formation. The crew of your Lance class switches to firing lower power bursts but more of them. Heavy torpedoes from the fast battleships can't get anywhere near a target but do make for some impressive fireballs, forcing the ball shaped craft to dodge wide. A pair of plasma cannon impacts rattle your ship but your wingman trades places with you before more damage can begin to stack up. Next they fire a volley of plasma balls to try and get some damage through the escort formation but the rest of your ships extend shields and overlap them, preventing anything from getting throughEventually your gunners catch up to them thanks to putting out a withering barrage. Five corvettes being hit and destroyed in the space of a few seconds shakes up the unit and they rapidly change course and get out of there. "They're falling back." "Here too." Reports Daska "They're just holding us back long enough for their other group to get out of contact with you." "Your damage?" you ask."Minor for the most part. We should try to get some repairs or leave behind a pair of the corvette squadrons for the next sortie."The salvage team returns with 6 battlecruisers and 24 attack cruisers, all in bad shape but they can certainly be fixed. That debris field has no more of either class. Do you want to wait until your corvettes have been repaired or sortie without them?Which debris field do you want to target?

Guys, anything larger than an attack cruiser or shockingly lightly damaged battle cruiser should NOT be a target for our teams to recover from rear debris fields. They simply take too repair. Focus on minimal turn over time, not what we normally prefer.

>>35872826>Do you guys want to go for this or continue on with picking up Battleships and larger craft regardless?I think it really depends on the damage. If there's a medium cruiser floating around with a destroyed engine which can be replaced relatively easily we should grab it. Otherwise, take stuff that might actually get operational again before the Neerans finish their retreat.
>>35872873>If there's a medium cruiser floating around with a destroyed engine which can be replaced relatively easily we should grab it.If that were the case the ship's escort might have simply tried to help tow it to a safe area. "Things still look clear. Daska, have anyone in need or repairs get them, everyone else we're going for the remainder of the debris field."Nikolov is cursing and vows to upgrade the engines on the salvage ships so that they can get out to locations more quickly"I was worried about visiting remote locations and being able to jump out before taking too much damage when I proposed this setup. The salvage fleet doesn't slow down, making for the debris field at best possible speed despite enemy ships attempting to intercept. The attack wings succeed in driving them back despite taking some minor damage. Rather than gie up the corvettes divert towards the debris field to team up with the others hiding there. "This is not looking good." Comments Alex.Getting into the debris Nikolov immediately begins using the tractor beams on her ships to form barricades as added protection, keeping them with the unit at all times. "It will slow us down but we need extra protection against sneak attacks getting through the escort."Things become a bit mor deadly for thine playing cat and mouse among the wreckage. Half of the enemy corvettes are destroyed, some by targeting wrecks with multiple heavy phase cannon to damage ships in hiding.Because of the drawn out fighting among the debris field several ships in 9th wing are crippled. More than a squadron worth. Once the enemy is confirmed to have retreated the escort battlecruisers and some of the attack ships help tow the extra craft back to the fleet along side the salvage craft."That could have gone better." Says Daska."None of our ships were destroyed." Alex points out.
With 2 squadrons effectively out of action until they've finished repairs how do you want to handle additional salvage runs? Hold off or simply rotate out the units and have 9th take over more close escort duties for the time being?
