Archive: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Card%20Priestess%20QuestTwitter: http://twitter.com/QM_CardHeartPastebin: http://pastebin.com/1XJESY5pI just woke up from what feels like a horrible nightmare. Behind me, my friend hugs me while continuously saying how sorry she is for everything. This isn't the best thing to be waking up to. I am Itsukuma Masami, and I was spending time after-school investigating for clues on the identity of the Masked Girl. That's when I found Kaori, who seems to be a very interesting person. She promised to relief all fear and suspicion regarding me if she just took a peak into my dreams for just a few minutes. I'm not really sure what she saw, but it sure seems to have her shook up. She grabs my back and cries in despair about how awful she feels about all this. "I didn't...I didn't.." She repeats over and over again. "You didn't what?" I say back to her. I remember my dream being kind of weird and a little terrifying, but that's how most of my dreams go. Why is this one any different?"I didn't know you were Empress in a past life, I thought you were just another monster!" Wait, she thinks I'm 'Empress'? >"Uhh, I'm not Empress, I'm Masami." >"I'm not Empress, do you want to meet her? She's probably making dinner right now." >"Can you put something on and we can talk about this?" >Ask if her suspicions are relieved and if I can go home now. >Try to change the subject, Ask about the Masked Girl. >Other?
>>35328734>"I'm not Empress, do you want to meet her? She's probably making dinner right now." It will hopefully relieve a bit of her stress
>>35328734>>"Uhh, I'm not Empress, I'm Masami." >>"I'm not Empress, do you want to meet her? She's probably making dinner right now."
>>35328734>"I'm not Empress, do you want to meet her? She's probably making dinner right now." Dohohohoho
>>35328734>"I'm not Empress, do you want to meet her? She's probably making dinner right now."
>>35328734>>"I'm not Empress, do you want to meet her? She's probably making dinner right now."You gonna get taken home
>>35328734>"I'm not Empress, do you want to meet her? She's probably making dinner right now." >Try to change the subject, Ask about the Masked Girl. C'mon, we want info!
>>35328734>"Uhh, I'm not Empress, I'm Masami." >"I'm not Empress, do you want to meet her? She's probably making dinner right now."
>Uhh, I'm not empress, you want to meet her? She's probably making dinner right nowwriting!
This seems like a very delicate situation. One that I need to answer with the utmost care and control. "Uhm, What?" Yeah, great one Masami."I just.. I just..." She continues to sob. "H-hey, it's okay, I'm fine. Right? Everything is fine. Can you tell me what scared you so much?" "I didn't realize you were KIDNAPPED." Wait, I was what? "I don't think, that's exactly what happened." "It DID happen, you were really taken and you probably had your memory wiped, too!" "It was just a dream, Kaori." "It was REAL, That REALLY HAPPENED!" Wow, she's really shaken up over this. "Hey, Earlier you called me 'Empress'?" She only nods her head."But.. I'm not Empress." She looks at me confused."B-b-ut, you have her memories." "What? 'Empress' is what everyone calls my Mom." This makes her even more confused. "You have a mother?"What kind of question is that?!"Um, yes. Doesn't everyone?" Wow, that didn't seem to help her mood at all. She looks even more distraught."H-Hey!" I try to sound upbeat and interrupt the gloom. "Want to come over to my house and meet her? She should be making dinner right now, and she loves having company over!" I don't know if she actually loves it, but at least she tolerates it. "I, can meet her?" She asks with a kind of disbelief in her voice, "Okay! Yeah! Let's go!" She springs out of the cot and walks across the room as I feel the need to point something out to her."Um, Kaori. Your clothes." She looks down at the underwear she's wearing, and realizes that she's missing her school uniform."Oh! I need to fix that." (1/2)
>>35329661>"Oh! I need to fix that." Oh you!
>>35329661Yay, we're taking new best girl home!
>>35329661Any bets that Masked Girl is at our house as well?
>>35329661Kaori texts someone before we head out. She was being extra careful to lock up the club room before we left. I'm not really sure what was so important in there, but it was apparently enough to give her pause for thought. I do the same for Aiko, so she knows that I won't have to be walked home. On the way, she turns and asks me a question, and it's one that I'm not sure how to really answer." "How long have you known your mother? What is she like?" What is she like? How do I even respond to that? I try to answer her without sound too awkward, "Um, well, she's very warm, and kind, but she has a snarky side to her that she sometimes shows." I pout lightly at that last statement. Kaori giggles, "How did you meet her?" That is another question that I'm not sure how she wants answered. "She's.. My mother?" "Well, no, that's not what I- I mean- Never mind." She looks down at her feet. I wonder what kind of answer she was expecting. We're both standing outside my home now. Kaori looks excited to be here, but also a little worried. I'm not sure why she's worried. >Anything you want to tell her to not bring up around Mom?>Like her past or anything that might cause her to cry again? >Or maybe anything you want to ask before you have dinner with her?
>>35330296let's try to go without brakes this time, maybe?we'll probably end up all crying in eachother's arms, but it'll probably be worth it
>>35330296>Ask Kaori to be careful with her questions, mom reacts very...emotional to her past being brought up.
>>35330464>>Ask Kaori to be careful with her questions, mom reacts very...emotional to her past being brought up.Supporting
>>35330296Let's just ask her to maybe not be super-obvious about seeing anything really important in a dream or the like. At least if she starts crying and hugging, maybe just don't specify exactly what was going on, unless mom demands to kno.
>>35330296>>35330458We do want to know more about her past, and that won't happen without tears anyway.
>>35330296>>35330458No breaks. We must find things out. Ignorance it turns out is not bliss.
>Don't be super obvious about what she saw in the dream But also>No Breaks! Anything goes! If that sounds good, I'll write!
>archive bing this quest all night>this thread pops up just as I finishBased OP.
"Okay Kaori, she's a bit sensitive to some things, but I think she can handle any question you might have for her." "Right, I'll try to not ask anything too personal." "One other thing, can you try to keep it a secret what you saw in the dream?" She thinks about it for a minute, like most of her questions hinged on her ability to see into people's dreams. "I can do that, for her." "Thank you, Kaori." I go to open the door, but Mom beats me to it. She stands at the doorway with a beaming smile on her face and an apron on her body. "Hey Mom" She grabs me into her arms as she embraces me. "Sweetie! I was really starting to worry, you staying after school after what happened earlier!" Oh right, I had almost forgot that my life was technically in danger. Kaori doesn't say anything, but I can tell that she's nearly floored by what she sees. "Wow.. It really was you." is all she says.Mom turns her attention to her, "Oh! More friends, Masami? I'm so happy that you're making so many!" "Mom, Please." I can feel a blush starting on my face. She kneels down to Kaori's eye-level, "I'm Izumi Itsukuma, but you can just call me Izumi. What's your name?" "Kaori." Is all she says in return. Not even giving her last name, oddly enough."Kaori! Come inside! I just made enough dinner for everyone!" "Uh! Okay! Um!" She says, as Mom practically drags her by the arm inside. Geez Mom, you make it look like you're kidnapping her instead of inviting her into your home. (1/2)
Apologies for posting slowdown, I'll try to pick up the pace.
>>35331498No worries, I am archive binging so ...
>>35331440We walk in and sit down at the table. Mom heads off to the kitchen to grab the food while we stare awkwardly at one another. I really wish I knew what she was thinking. Or at least what she was thinking of asking.I briefly wonder if she's thinking the same thing about me, but there's a distinct possibility that she can read my thoughts. So I'm going to think about math homework instead. Mom comes in with several plates of delicious looking food. She carefully balances it like a waitress at a restaurant as she sets all of the large plates down on the table. Again, she's made far too much food for either of us to eat. Did she expect me to bring Kaori home? That's weird. Mom sits down, with a smile on her face. She's clearly planning something. "So, did you come here because you had some questions for me?" I wish she shouldn't phrase it that way.>Introduce her yourself, as well as her questions.>Let her ask her own questions. >Ask some questions of your own>Other?>Ask if she can spend the night!
>>35331964>Let her ask her own questions.Lets see how this talk goes before we ask the spoiler.
>>35331964>Let her ask her own questions.
>>35331964>>Let her ask her own questions.Ask our own if things get awkward or quiet.
If Kaori stays the night, she's probably going to be taking a trip into Mom's dreams? That sounds fun.Maybe she can take us too? Is that something she can do?
>>35331964Nope! Not going to ask anything. If Kaori really can read my mind, then she already knows what I'm going to ask anyway. Besides, she saw the dream along with me, and she seems to remember the most about it as well. I start eating while carefully listening. "Uh, So Miss Itsukuma! I did have some questions. The first one, is, um." She hesitates, but Mom only continues to smile. I wonder if she practiced that."Are you also named 'Empress'?" Her grin becomes less obvious, but she's still showing a slight smile. "That's right, I've been called that before. I prefer Izumi, though." Okay, Mom doesn't look like she's going to cry from that. That's good! She still looks composed and confident in her voice. "A-another question. I'm not sure how to ask this one." She says, hesitating. Which may be the first time I've ever seen her truly lose her composure. "Izumi, were you kidnapped when you were younger? Who was your 'father'?" Mom hesitates more at that question, but still manages to stay composed! Go Mom! "No, no, I wasn't kidnapped. My father was a very brash, but caring man. He always found a way for us to get by in what was otherwise a very cruel, uncaring world." She looks wistful as she drinks from her teacup. "One last question, Izumi..Uh." Suddenly, Kaori's faces changes. Her entire demeanor shifts from the calm and collected stoic to that of a frightened little girl. Which isn't fair, because the only one who is allowed to have that role is me. "Izumi.. Is Masami your only daughter!?"(1/2)
Rolled 11 (1d20)>>35333019Oh I forgot a roll
>>35333054And....nothing really happened.

>>35333019Mom looks very confused, and not entirely sure how to respond to that."Yes, yes she is. She's the-""ARE YOU SURE?" Kaori's voice raises in pitch and volume. The change in her attitude throws me off guard, and I notice tears pooling up in her big blue eyes. "Um. Yes Kaori, I'm really sure." "N-no other daughters? Really?" "I'm certain, Kaori. Masami was something very special for me. I would be absolutely certain if it were to happen again." Kaori starts digging in to her food. Easily cleaning up her plate and quickly drinking her tea. "W-well!" she's clearly losing her composure, "I-I just r-remembered that I h-have to be somewhere. So- So I'm going to get going. >>35333440>>Follow her outside, ask her away from Mom>Spill everything we know. Exactly how we met mom, how old we are, all that.I think Kaori thinks we had our memory wiped or something? So we need to clear up exactly what we know with her.
>>35333572She never mentions any family name on her side, and then she gets really intense about asking mom if she has any other daughters ? And when she says she doesn't she tears up and runs away ?The conclusion seems obvious to me.

>>35333440>Follow her outside, ask her away from Mom>Do you want to spend the night here? Why is everyone scared enough to run away.
>Follow her outside, ask away from mom>Do you want to spend the night here? If that's good, I'll write!
>>35333608Is the conclusion that Mom needs to adopt Kaori right now? That's what I'm getting.
>>35333779The conclusion was aiming more for Kaori hoping adoption wouldn't be necessary. But I like your version too.
Kaori is the Masked Girl, calling it now
>>35333858Not entirely sure about that. But if Mom doesn't remember her and she's our sister.. God that's awful.
>>35333921I wouldn't be surprised if her power could reveal repressed memories and make everything okay, if that's the case. That seems like it fits within her dream-walking, future-divining powerset.
>>35333921Or she might a sort of prototype or previous attempt at whatever created us, and mom didn't know she actually lives because Fortune kept it secret or something.
Something came up, but I'm back.Sorry for the delay>writing continues
I have no idea what's going on.Kaori doesn't seem to understand that we don't remember our dreams.
>>35328734>, I thought you were just another monster!"Am I the only person concerned by this?
>>35334123Well, we were created by Fortune somehow, so, like, she isn't too far off.The attitude she has is kind of concerning, but hopefully her fears have been assuaged.
>>35334123Well she's met Empress. So we are... just another monster.
Rolled 5 (1d20)
>>35334554Well shit. Kaori is not having a good day today.
>>35334554...oh boy. Now I'm worried.
"Uh?" Is all Mom can say. She still has a completely blank expression on her face. "No! No! It's fine! I just got to get going! It's been a pleasure Miss Itsukuma, I'll- I'll" Kaori doesn't finish her sentence, she's already stood up and bolted to the door. "Wait! Kaori!" I follow behind her as she darts out. I turn to Mom and tell her that I'll be back and follow her. She's already at the end of the driveway by the time I get out the door. She's bracing herself against the mailbox. "Kaori! Wait!" I yell, catching up to her. "What's wrong? I'm fine! Everything is fine!" Wow, just like that, she manages to compose herself again. "..Kaori, you are not fine. What's wrong?" "Nothing! I just have to go help the night students, I kind of forgot about them!" She's slightly better at lying than I am, that's not saying much. "Really, Masami, no need to worry about me, I'm glad to have met your mother." "I'm going to worry about you, Kaori, because that reaction was not normal. Can you at least tell me what's wrong?" She looks down at her feet, not even bothering to give a response."Like I said Masami, nothing's wrong.." "..Do you want to spend the night here, Kaori?" "No I- I really don't. Masami I- I have a- I need to go-" She doesn't finish, she turns away and starts running. Wow, I wasn't aware she could run that fast. >Give chase! >Stalk her back to school, see where she goes next>Leave her alone for the night>Call someone?>Other?
>>35334684>Give chase! Gonna hug the shit out of you. If mom can do it clearly we can to... it's genetic or something.

>>35334902Perhaps change it to asking if we're a monster? While apologizing for it?
>>35334912Tell her we're X days old while we're at it. And how we met Mom. Ceiling-Masami will cheer her up for sure.
>>35334935I think we've already covered the X days old part. But that could be apart of the apology. Sorry I don't handle this stuff well I'm only Thismany days old!
Could this perhaps be based on the horrible things the rest of the kids parents probably did to Empress? All based on the idea that she was an evil monster?
That line of questioning was rather odd. Random out there theory: are the multiple empresses? Like clones?
>Give chase! I'm going to hug you whether you like it or not!Writing! This might be the last post tonight.
>>35334973That is a very good point, maybe Kaori figured out that the guys in the dream were their parents and is now feeling very guilty. I also think that she senses that Mom is sort of lying about her dad, though she is very good at it.
>>35335021Also yes, adding in>Apologize for being a monster
>>35335032That or we weren't really made 3-4 days ago. That might be worst/best case scenario. If it turns out we're a kid who was kidnapped then things will be really goddamn awful.
>>35334952We only covered it with Aiko and that other girl whose name I forget. We don't know whether they told the rest.
>>35335053Please no cliff hanger... Unless you know.. you've got shit to do and you know that whole healing thing. In which case it's fine. Thanks for running dude.

>>35335171Is this roll for whether she's able to escape her hug? I'm glad she failed it in that case.

I take off running right behind her. She may be fast, but she's also tired and sad. Which means catching up to her really isn't that hard at all! She tries running around the corner, near the school, but instead trips and falls onto her face. Uh oh. I dash over to her, pulling her into a hug. She doens't seem to be hurt by it, except a tiny red mark on her forehead. What she does have plenty of, are tears pouring from her eyes. As I embrace her, she melts into a full-blown cry. Her sobbing and wailing seems to increase in volume until my ears themselves hurt. She buries her face in my shoulder, and continues to wail in misery. "Kaori, why? What is wrong?" Then a thought occurs to me,"Is this because I'm a monster? I'm sorry for being a monster." This causes her to stop crying, but clutch me all the same. "Is that why, Kaori? Is it because I'm not a human?" "M-Masami, I thought- I thought that Empress... I was-" Tears are continuing to pour down her face, she grabs me and tugs me even closer."Masami, you have a family, so that makes me the monster.."Thread end.
Wow! You know, the DC on that roll to keep Masami's composure was 12. If you guys were one point lower, then she wouldn't have been able to keep it together either and you wouldn't have learned that. Thanks for the thread everyone! >>35336161That doesn't make sense. Fortune said we were created because Mom was getting weaker. Why would Fortune lie to us?
>>35336419I'm going to assume that's sarcasm.Either way we're at heart breaking with how things turn out. I mean hell look at the dreams. She's incapable of having her own. >>35336163When we join the rowing club
So.. should at some point we ask Mom.. if we're real?
>>35336558Just stick with asking Mom exactly what we are and how we were made. Asking if we're real is asking for another crying session.
