PREVIOUS EPISODES: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Ghost+BustersLAST EPISODE: You decided to not pursue a janitorial career.- - -You are Yurei, retainer and servant of the brave samurai who serve the lands of Wasure-Te-Shimatta. They are the protectors of the land, and of the whole of Edo. They rescued you from imprisonment, defeated the wretched ones who kept you there, and in thanks, you have pledged to serve them. It’s a busy day it seems. The cunning Sir Daisuke has once again secured information regarding the vile monsters that besiege Edo. Not to mention that they’re still discussing on how to use the secret information that they secured from one of the defeated creatures. Also, a guest of Noble Lineage is due to arrive, and they want to make a good impression.Sir Daisuke is lying on the couch, a wet towel over most of his face. His sojourn into the ravages of time and foulest trickery has drained him some. He’s writing down everything he can remember about the account before it slips from his mind.Brave Sir Sato and wise Lady Sakura, She Who Is Named Like The Heavens, are debating about what to do about the P-COC plan that they secured, and how best to use it. They seem unsure. And Sir Akira, the Noble, Good, and Perfect, is recuperating in his room. He and Sir Daisuke have differing codes, and they often clash. Of course, the most noblest of samurai is correct, Sir Daisuke is a man who sometimes bends the rules a tad too much…but one cannot argue that his cunning has carried the day many times, and that his spirit is as pure as any of these brave warriors of heaven. However, those are matters that are beyond your station.
>>34630427Your duties are to see to your samurai’s mighty stronghold, and ensure that your masters’ needs are seen too.> Sir Akira is distressed…you should attend to him, like a proper servant…and it will allow you more time for you to be close to him…as in being a good and faithful servant! Yes. Of course!> Her Imperial Self, Rei, She Who Is Close To Heaven, is coming to visit. You should get tea and other little things ready.> See if you can attend to any of Sir Daisuke’s needs.> Listen to Sir Sato and Lady Sakura, and help them if need be.> Other(Yes, I know that it should be -sama and not Sir, however, it’s quicker to write and uses fewer characters. Also, Yurei is kind of mashing up her Fairy Tale settings with a mix of Eastern and Western styles.)
>>34630443> Sir Akira is distressed…you should attend to him, like a proper servant…and it will allow you more time for you to be close to him…as in being a good and faithful servant! Yes. Of course!Obvious choice selected!
>>34630443> Her Imperial Self, Rei, She Who Is Close To Heaven, is coming to visit. You should get tea and other little things ready. You do NOT have tea and snacks unprepared when receiving royalty. And make sure that things are properly washes and purified.
>>34630443Oh my god, Yurei is an undead Chunni!>Sir Akira is distressed
>>34630443Attend to Akira, it wouldn't do for him to be sulking when Rei shows up.
The "smart" thing to do would be to prepare for Rei.But Yurei is just a girl, and not involved with plot or plan like Daisuke nor Akira. In character she'd be fine with both choices, but she might lean toward Akira for reasonsThat said I think it likely Akira will not be in the mood for a visit from Yurei after his last encounter with Daisuke over interspecies/interdimensional relationships with paranormal beings.
>>34630443> Sir Akira is distressed…you should attend to him, like a proper servant…and it will allow you more time for you to be close to him…as in being a good and faithful servant! Yes. Of course!
>>34631153Now I'm looking forward to Akira snapping at Yurei because she reminds him of his own hypocrisy. He doesn't deserve a nice girl-ghost like her.
>>34631206But that makes Yurei sad, and that makes me sad. . .
>>34631228Better to be sad than be in an abusive relationship with a speciest killer.
>>34631262We're all accessories to murder anyway.
>>34631262Hey, he might be quick on the draw but I don't think Akira the abusive type. It's not like there were a way he could hurt Yurei anyway.
>>34631291I missed the last few threads and am reading up on them now. How are we murderers?
>>34631052>>34630737>>34630601You adjust your hair, and make sure that you're in your appropriate garb. Sir Akira prefers it when you wear modest, demure, white robes and your headdress. You wonder if you should show him the trick with the shoes that you're working on. Ever since Lady Sakura showed you that youtube clip, you've been putting in an amazing amount of effort to recreate that. However, getting shoes to dance is HARD.You go through the door to Sir Akira's room. He's just lying on his futon. (Unlike the others who have their cots, he only sleeps on a futon that's flat on the ground.) He's staring up at the ceiling. You softly rap on the door. He sits up and his face goes from cross to calm."Oh, it's just you." He lies back down. "You can tell the others that I'm fine. I'll come out when PAGAN shows up and behave."He shakes his head. "I dunno why I'm so mad." He says to you sitting up. "No, I KNOW why I'm so mad. Were you ever part of a group? I mean, before?"He looks at you. "Do you remember anything about yourself before?"> Shake your head fiercely. No, you don't know and you don't WANT to know. You want THIS...well you can't quite call it a 'life' but it's better than what you had. You want to make THIS your 'life.' You want to stay.> Shake your head sadly. No, you don't know and you've long given up any hope of remembering. You want to serve your lords, and then when your time comes you want to Move On. > Shake your head , then close your eyes, try and focus, and see if you can remember anything, anything at all. You did have a life once, and that matters to you. You want to see it.> Other
>>34631349>Shake your head , then close your eyes, try and focus, and see if you can remember anything, anything at all. You did have a life once, and that matters to you. You want to see it.As if we would just take our fate lying down.
>>34631326We discovered that a plant creature that had been systematically murdering people in a tea shop by injecting drugs into the tea and then swallowing them whole. In exchange for helping it escape the law and punishment for premeditated murder, it gave us vital information on how to defeat Tamamo-no-mae.We became an accessory to murder by helping a serial killer escape, for the greater good of the world.
>>34631349>> Shake your head , then close your eyes, try and focus, and see if you can remember anything, anything at all. You did have a life once, and that matters to you. You want to see it.I for one want to know.
>>34631349>Shake your head fiercely. No, you don't know and you don't WANT to know. You want THIS...well you can't quite call it a 'life' but it's better than what you had. You want to make THIS your 'life.' You want to stay.If we ever somehow managed to get a corporeal body again, we'd be living the dream.
>>34631395Greaaaaaat. And we didn't get contact info, so we could change it's diet to something else?
>>34631349>shake you head, then close your eyes...
>>34631453We magically bound it to be unable to cause more death or be anywhere near japan, and have its signature locked for other GB.But right now it could be sipping pina-collada's in the carribean and thinking how it got away with murder, and all it needed to do was bribe the Ghostbusters with what they wanted.
>>34631453We got it to swear never to do it again on pain of death, plus we know about the cafe it was working at and that it's working for the registry. If it steps out of line at this point, we will know and we will not show mercy a second time.
>>34631495Well, if doing this can lead to an understanding of Dryads, a method to make sure there is another reasonable way to allow them to live without killing, and saves more lives, I'm not going to say it's great, but...
>>34631517>we will know and we will not show mercy a second time. That is, of course, unless the world is in peril once more and it can prove it has what we need to save it.Doubt we'll ever see it again, but if we did it before I don't see why we'd do it a second time.
>>34631550>a method to make sure there is another reasonable way to allow them to live without killing, It wasn't killing to survive, it was killing as a means to power to hijack Ygdrassil. It was a parasite. It was in essence the same as if we helped a human cultist who had sacrificed peopele for power escape the police, if he could help us against Tamamo.
>>34631556Somehow I doubt she has any more information of world-saving importance after last time, which is admittedly an assumption on my part. It's a hard call to make, but considering the stakes I can't help but feel we made the right one.
>>34631349>try to rememberTo dream the impossible dream, To fight the unbeatable foe, you MUST remember!
>>34631595Do we know if there is a way to save those it 'ate'?I kinda agree with you on this, we really should find out what's going on with the parasite thing.
>>34631479>>34631410>>34631387The Songbird Karaoke Parlor. The smell of leather. The taste of Fruit punch juice boxes. The sound of the jackpot bell of a pachinko machine, and monkey calls. The feeling of a sticky marble counter-top.That's all.Akira raises his eyebrows. "You looked like you were remembering something." He takes out his phone. "You can text me, right?"You nod, and text him the memories.Akira sighs and shrugs. "Fuck it. I don't think I'm gonna be able to talk to that PAGAN girl without losing my temper. Wanna go to the Karaoke parlor and check it out?"You gape.He shrugs. "Beats staring at the ceiling."> You nod. Oh, a whole day alone with Sir Akira...and he's doing this for you! This is wonderful!> No...no, you shall be good and resist temptation. She Who Is Close To Heaven is arriving and the samurai must present themselves as a united front. You serve more than just yourself and Sir Akira after all. You can do this later...provided that there is a later.> Other
>>34631326Akira killed that youkai after it surrendered on our raid of the arcology. That's war crimes stuff right there, as to be expected of the Imperial Japanese Army. >>34631395The original Ghostbusters did similar stuff back during their original run.
>>34631663>No...no, you shall be good and resist temptation. She Who Is Close To Heaven is arriving and the samurai must present themselves as a united front. You serve more than just yourself and Sir Akira after all. You can do this later...provided that there is a later. As awesome as that would be, duty must come first.
>>34631601Of course. We're being utilitarian here. What's a few deaths compared to the population of Japan? We justified the death of 12 to end the College scandal. Basic treatment of life as a mathematical equation. The killing of a few to save the many? 1 to save 10? 100 to save 1000?Acceptable collateral damage.>>34631661Pursuing it any further would probably break the contract we did with it to leave it alone. Nor do I expect we'll ever have the time to leave Japan for it.But what's done is done, I suppose. Even the ghostbusters should have a few skeletons in their closet, but it was all in the name of world peace.
>>34631663> You nod. Oh, a whole day alone with Sir Akira...and he's doing this for you! This is wonderful!Getting Akira the hothead away while delicate negotiations are done with a member of the Imperial Family is for the greater good. Though I am wondering if the Ghostbusters will get a visit from te Imperial Household Agency.
>>34631663>> No...no, you shall be good and resist temptation. She Who Is Close To Heaven is arriving and the samurai must present themselves as a united front. You serve more than just yourself and Sir Akira after all. You can do this later...provided that there is a later. There's work to be done dammit!
>>34631707If you're referring to the Vampire episode of the cartoon, the difference between there and here is we have actual eyewitness proof and confession that it did while the latter is a stereotype that "vampires kill people".In addition they set their protonpacks to mimic the sun and started destroying them by the bushel, and then just decided to surround the town with rivers making them unable to cross it, effectively trapping it. Not like we did where we let it go scott free.I don't believe for a second the originals would have made the decision we did.
>>34631663> You nod. Oh, a whole day alone with Sir Akira...and he's doing this for you! This is wonderful!
>>34631739I'm surprised you didn't mention the fact that the oath the parasite took should stop it from digesting (at least) 1 human per year. Your argument is a bit emotionless, and thus creepy, which is why I mention it.
>>34631739>We're being utilitarian here. Doesn't triage and preventing greater numbers of death by accepting a smaller number of losses get covered in medical school?
>>34631818Well, you go ask Harold Ramis what he thinks, and then you can come tell us.
>>34631839I think he was being satrical/sarcastic there.
>>34631839Making a murderer promise to not kill anyone ever again, does not justify or excuse the killings they have already done.
>>34631947No it doesn't, but at least it limits the damage, which under the circumstances was the best we could do. Honestly, I think it ended about as well as it possibly could really.
>>34631982It wasn't about limiting the damage or preventing further death, we could've trapped it like we would any other killer and that would've prevented any future deaths too.It was the fact that we didn't, we let it and its crimes go, because it gave us something we wanted.
>>34632053It wouldn't have given us the info if we hadn't guaranteed safety, and unfortunately part of being the good guys means keeping your word even when it's inconvenient. The deal was a little problematic, but it was the best option we had and once we made it going back on our word would have only made things worse.
Hey guys, thought you might wanted to know there's some news about Ghostbusters 3http://www.christianpost.com/news/ghostbusters-3-release-date-latest-news-director-and-producer-ivan-reitman-confirms-sequel-is-underway-125708/
>>34631663Resist temptation... For nowCan't miss this opportunity to have Rei sneak our own paperwork to be signed by the Emperor. Something like 'I rescind all previous orders regarding the Kami and their servants'
>>34632153Considering they linked to a parody trailer as if it was the real deal, I'm not putting any more faith in this than the last half-dozen false starts.
>>34632146On the contrary I'd say that the deal was entirely convenient for us in getting what we needed. >It wouldn't have given us the info And herein lies and circles the point back to the beginning. We wanted the info, and were willing to turn a blind eye to murder for it.Because if being the goodguys means we have to do bad things to achieve a greater good, we can and have done so and will. Even if we have to cheat, hurt, or kill in order to serve the greater good, because that is all that matters. The saftey of the world, at all costs.
>>34632153Unfortunately, it's been 'totally underway, for real-real this time' for a while. To slaughter Mr. Pratchett's quote about a Discworld movie (the irony there is real), 'I wont believe it exists till I'm sitting in a theater, watching it.'
>>34631663Obvious temptation is obvious. > You nod. Oh, a whole day alone with Sir Akira . . . and he's doing this for you! This is wonderful! But let's go to a different Karaoke parlor. We want to make new, good memories - not relive bad ones.
>>34632279So wait, if we agree on that then what the hell are we arguing about, if we even are at all?
>>34632308I'm not arguing that this is the perspective we as both Daisuke, a team, and even Akira has taken.I will however contest that this is the most morale choice, or the stance the original would take. But it is the most logical.
>>34632308Is this shit-posting still going on? Jesus, guys, keep up. It's over and done with. We're in Endgame now.
>>34632402Eh, that's cool then, I disagree on the morality of it but it's done and gone and it's not like anyone ever agrees on that sort of shit anyway. Back to questing then!
>>34632297Okay, We've got a 4-4 tie, and I'm not asking for the debate over the Aluraune Decision to stop (I seriously love it), but could we please table it for now?> Yurei's Past > Rei's Visit
>>34632557>Rei's VisitLet's try to focus on the big picture for now.
I think we're tied, so I'll have to suggest staying.Remember that Rei had wanted to meet with Yurei.specifically.
>>34632557Yurei's pastThis is the only opportunity we will get, and I wanna know more.
>>34632557> Yurei's PastI've been waiting for this fucking date.
>>34632557>> Rei's VisitPriorities!
>>34632557Sorry GM, I wont talk about it till the thread is done. Not really sure which is more interesting. I'd LOVE to find out more about Yurei's past, and I don't think we'll get another chance, but Rei's cool too. Will we get a chance to see how the meeting with Rei goes if we follow Yurei's past here?
>>34632557>>34632497Really the whole debate feels like a big Kantian vs Utilitarian argument. The decision would be moral to one and immoral to the other.
>>34632633Lets save it till the end of the thread.
>>34632631Wanting to know this as well, I don't want to have to decide between interesting storytime and plot success.
>>34632662To be honest I think things would be better if Akiri wasn't there.
>>34632631>Will we get a chance to see how the meeting with Rei goes if we follow Yurei's past here?Yes. You'll just be unable to effect what happens during the meeting.
>>34632712Oh hell no, this is way too potentially important for us to not have any effect on it.
>>34632557>Yurei's PastBecause Akira being here would just be a disaster.
>>34632712Again, Akiri will fuck things up.
>>34632712Which is kinda why I asked, because you're essentially dangling two things people want and asking us to choose one: The development of a secondary character who has been here since the beginning of the quest, along with their relationship with one of the protagonists; Or possible avenues with Pagan and the Emperor.
>>34632557Rei's VisitCome on, this is another chance to shove the PAGAN's face into the fact that yes, ghosts ARE fucking real, and maybe you should take the paranormal a little more seriously since PEOPLE DIE!
If we do have the PAGAN visit, can we at least have the Akiri-Yurei date later?Akiri really needs to get laid.
>>34632557Rei's visit because >>34632591Though.if that's right, it's not very nice of you to not remind us.
>>34632557As much as both are awesome, I feel I'm going to have to go with>Yurei's Past
>>34632778And again, I'm pretty sure her.actually talking to a ghost.is.really important, and those three stowaways aren't gonna do it.
>>34632839>If we do have the PAGAN visit, can we at least have the Akiri-Yurei date later?I make no promises. You can certainly try.>>34632840>if that's right, it's not very nice of you to not remind us.I'm very happy that someone is keeping track of previous information. That's the kind of action that'll get you the golden ending.Looks like a 5-5 split again.
>>34632950Fine. If the PAGAN woman wanted to meet Yurei specifically, I'll shift my vote that way.But fuck I've been waiting for this date forever.
>>34632950I'm only seeing 5v4 Yurie's Past vs. Rei's Visit replying to your post.
>>34632950>I'm very happy that someone is keeping track of previous information. That's the kind of action that'll get you the golden ending. That's what worries me the most. . .you have so many threads and put out so many puzzle pieces to someone who doesn't even have the box its overwhelming.>>34632950Rei visit.
>>34632950I'll vote toward the pagan visit as well.
You close your eyes and wince, and then shake your head. You have Duties. They're important. A proper lady cannot put herself in front of them.Sir Akira shrugs. "Okay, offer's open anytime. Just...don't take Daisuke, okay? I don't think I could handle that guy getting any more smug. Star or Sato are fine." He smiles at you, and you feel a surge of energy through your being. "Later, Spooky." But whomever wrote that, probably that kitsune Daisuke's worried about, has NO idea about global politics. >>34634546>Who thought that was a good idea...Sato and Star. They thought that Central would have advice, and if Peck knew that P-COC Japan was doing something he'd shut it down.
>>34634491>"It's funny, the plan isn't a bad one. But whomever wrote that, probably that kitsune Daisuke's worried about, has NO idea about global politics. Apparently the plan would work wonderfully...IF the entire world worked like Feudal Japan...or just current Japan. But she thinks that the Pope is the unquestionable ruler of Christianity, that America obeys the President without question, and it totally disregards Russia or the Middle East's reaction. India would go nuclear." She shakes her head. "Or everyone else thinks we're crazy and/or filled with monsters and blockades us forever or..." She mimes an explosion. "Something we don't even want to THINK about." At this point I'd like to remind her that nobody remembers Atlantis because the Romans invaded it to get rid of the monsters. They remember it because it fell into the sea and was never seen again.
Rolled 5 (1d20)>>34634491If I am not mistaken India is already nuclear. It and Pakistan
>>34634657She means that India would deploy its nuclear stockpile against Japan.
>>34634616The (small) difference here is that we interact enough with others to check our stupidity. And we're not one person.
>>34634491Oh xenophobia, how I love you right now. The only person on Mae's level who could point out the flaws in the plan WANTS it to fail and have us some advice to help us with that. >Pope is sole head of ChristianityMore than a millennia too late, sister. If you'd pulled this off back in the 1000s, it woulda worked. Then again, you wouldn't have had to because of people's beliefs.
>>34634857I would say though that the Pope is likely the sole head of Catholic christianity, by far the largest cohesive singular denomination of christianity and is backed by the longstanding power of the church. He is probably backed by God as well (that's not to say the rest of Christianity/Abrahamic faiths aren't also).Simiarly the Emperor is the sole head of Shinto.
>>34634857Even then the Pope was the absolute head of Christianity. There were small independent sects in the middle east.
>>34634647It's possible she'd separate Japan from the rest of the world anyway by plunging it into the ghostworld as her own little fiefdom.>>34635036Don't think that really matters, there are probably independent sects of Shinto but I doubt they hold any significant power here in Japan or not remotely the power to challenge the Emperor.Maybe if they were as large a movement as the Protestants and the Reformation going against the Pope, but they aren't.Tamamo managed to subvert the gods all on her lonesome. That doesn't come without precedence, but I doubt the other gods would lie and wait and let her move on their turf.Bhudda would probably be irked at the loss of Japan as well.
>>34634982The Pope doesn't have the 'Everybody must obey' thing going for him. If they were counting on God's policy of 'whatever laws you make, I'll enforce', MAYBE it would work. But this plan was made by someone who's only heard of foreign things and has no experience. And there's a jillion sects of Christianity, most of whom are under no obligation to the Big Papa. >>34634999Well yeah, but nobody talks about them

Alright, in this situation I think any visual or audio displays could easily be excused as deception and technology. Actually, quite a lot can be dismissed as a technological illusion. Therefore to truly verify she is a ghost we need to do something beyond the five senses. The problem is we can't touch her...because one way I'd imagine is mental projection or telepathics. No technology in the world is able to speak directly into your mind.
Rolled 3 (1d8)>>34637253>>34637257>>34637306Maybe should've went with the shoes.
>>34637330In fact, if Yurei were able to read her mind and then write down exactly what she is thinking would be useful.Though technically we do have some mind reading technology such as the dream recording machine among others.
>>34637330There are a lot of things that you can see and hear that can't possibly be due to technology. You would have a hard time writing of your tie turning into a snake before your eyes as an illusion, or how your briefcase is suddenly full of teeth and trying to talk to you even while you are holding it in your hand.Anything that blatantly defies contemporary physical law.
>>34637330>No technology in the world is able to speak directly into your mind.Well, we did make a helmet that makes you speak with God; that IS something that we made in the real world. And since this is the Ghostbusters world, a telepathy machine may actually be possible, if Egon hasn't already built one.
>>34637591Scratch that, you're right. I'm pretty sure we do have telepathic communications device somewhere in canon from the cartoon.Still, I doubt anyone but a ghostbuster would have an inkling that were a possible thing.>>34637524Other ways I can see are stuff like freezing water into ice cubes, as she tries to drink it.But Yurei is barely a class 3 or 4, and basic telekenesis already tires her out. If only we could feed her some weaker class 2's like masses of tiny ghost fish or something to strengthen her.
>>34637206Well, you weren't able to do the shoe trick, but everything in the room that wasn't nailed down gently lifts up into the air, does a 360 spin in the air, and then gently sets themselves down.Your mighty lords are staring at you, bug eyed, open mouthed, and gaping. The retainer to SWICTH is also pale and shaking. It looks like he wants to bolt to the door and keep running.Rei looks at you with a semi-skeptical look on her face. "I think I saw something similar at Disneyland."Your lords all groan and throw up their hands or shake their heads."Alright," Sir Daisuke says. "What WILL prove to you that we're legit? That Yurei's an actual ghost? That we're on the same side? Because right now, the only thing that's keeping us from saving Japan is ONE stubborn person!"You notice that the others are refraining from commenting or looking too hard at Sir Daisuke.Rei frowns. "Look YOU invited ME here. The burden of proof is on YOU." She says. "I admit, whatever you've got here is impressive. There MIGHT even be something strange, but I've SEEN a ghost. They look like little balls of blue flame, or light spots or hazy figures on pre-recordings. Where's your EMF recordings, or your other records of hauntings?""THAT is your idea of a ghost?!" Sir Akira asks."Well, it's the most realistic thing. You think I buy that ghosts ACTUALLY look like THAT? You only see things like that on TV!" Rei says, pointing at you."You spoiled brat." Akira says. "Just because you SAY something is true, DOESN'T mean that it IS! You have to adjust your worldview and SHE is in your DIRECT EYESIGHT! >>34637886This is also true and might be more definitive than anything else we could try.I don't know how much power that takes though.
>>34637852"Let me stop you there." Rei says. "I'm related to the Emperor because I'm related to one of the commoners that has married into the family. You know how many times I've seen him? Once, when I was four. It was Christmas, they dressed me up, marched me around, and I bowed to him as he welcomed me to the palace. I had dinner, opened a present, and went home. That's it. I've never been to the palace since, and I've CERTAINLY never seen the Emperor. Okay? So I would REALLY appreciate it if you DIDN'T act like I'm some forgotten scion to the throne! I get enough of that from them!" She gestures to her retainer.Sir Akira nods. "Fine." He backs off."Alright," Sir Daisuke says, walking up. "Sorry, we all got a little upset. Do you at the least believe that we're not here to try and hurt the ghosts of Japan, or your organization?"She nods. "I admit...you're a lot better than P-COC. They won't even talk to us.""Okay," Sir Daisuke says. "So, first I want to know, what do you want? You seem to be based around protecting Japanese culture, and keeping people from harming sacred sites, as well as themselves.""Exactly, and YOU keep showing up to trample on those sites with American technology. NUCLEAR technology at that!" She fumes. "We've never been at a place where we weren't wanted." Star says. "We leave the quiet ones alone, people call us!""And that's the problem, people shouldn't have to 'Fix' things. The ghosts are the problem, THEY are!" Rei says. "YOU'RE just an end result of the whole wretched system, AND a perpetuator.""So, what, a ghost shows up in a person's house, they should just learn to live with it? What if it's hostile?" Star asks."Then they're violating the ghost's right to defend their territory. Humans can MOVE." Rei says. "But they call you and you RIP the ghosts out of their homes and imprison them in there." She nods towards the Containment Unit.(cont)
>>34637886>>34637925Whatever we do, it's got to be something that can't be emulated by technology. Something like mind interaction, metamorphosis of matter, or distinct telekensis that a machine couldn't do like making someones feet move (or dance) on their own.If the retainer knew something about Rei that only he and Rei would know, like what is she afraid of most, or what is her biggest fantasy, Yurei could transform herself into it.But again, that is entirely on if Yurei even has the power to do something like that.
>>34638052You know the containment unit is actually a lot more pleasant than what a lot of the ghosts we trapped were experiencing previously. Kayako and family don't have to experience the trauma of their deaths in the haunted house anymore, now they can rest peacefully without pain or fear.Also. . .isn't there a big sanctuary full of ooky spooky creatures, right next door?
>>34638052>"So, what, a ghost shows up in a person's house, they should just learn to live with it? What if it's hostile?" Star asks.>"Then they're violating the ghost's right to defend their territory. Humans can MOVE." Rei says. "But they call you and you RIP the ghosts out of their homes and imprison them in there." She nods towards the Containment Unit.So the human should move when a ghost shows up even if the human was there first? Wahey! That's the soundest logic ever!Trail of Tears/Colonialism/Everythnig Ever
>>34638052What about ghosts infringing on ghosts? Because that's pretty much how we saved Yurei from her tormentors. Are you saying that weak ghosts should be shoved out by strong ghosts? Because that attitude made the reject zone.
>>34638109>isn't there a big sanctuary full of ooky spooky creatures, right next door? The arcology is still being worked on.At best, it'll likely be Rini and Kali. The problems with Kali and the Old Man are that they look human, or human with some makeup.Though we should bring up the fact that there are some predatory ghosts that aren't restricted by boundaries.
>>34638177Drat, if only they were the western kind and could turn into bats or use vampire mind magic.
>>34638052"So!" Sir Daisuke says, holding up a hand to stall the others. "You believe that Ghosts have more rights than humans?""They were there first." Rei says. "And their ties to Japan are MUCH deeper, on a literally spiritual level." She nods. "We have forgotten ourselves in this overly materialistic, heavily Westernized, world. Then that clever smile starts to form around his face. "So...what if...what if we could SHOW you a touch of that world you so venerate and think we smash?""What do you mean?" Rei asks."Well, let Yurei possess you. No better way to understand the spectral plight than by getting THAT close to a ghost, right? Also, it'll prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that Yurei is what we say she is.""You're serious?" Rei asks."As a heart attack." You say. "Of course, you'd have to give Yurei your permission. It just is. We are all we are, alive or dead. The dead shouldn't hurt the living, and that which isn't dead and isn't human is as different and as moral as any person, there are angels and demons in flesh and otherwise. >>34638492It's canon anyway.Personally I don't think they're "equivalents" or all of them are dopplegangers, and I do think they are certainly ex people. It's not the afterlife, it's the underworld, and the key difference is everyone there is a ghost and its a place we can visit. It's more like Limbo. They didn't pass on, just like a lot of the ghost we're encountering here haven't passed on.
>>34638537We don't have to kill her, just make sure she's not a threat to Japan during the Lunar Conjunction.Like sending her, against her will if necessary, to a 3 month cruise in the Bahamas or a vacation in the Philippines. Or simply have her be implicated in a scandal that the Imperial Household Agency will coverup by sending her overseas until things settle down.
>>34638492Also, a lot of ghosts ARE basically ecotplasmic entities from another dimension, in addition to the ones who were once human. Plenty of them were likely never human in the first place.
>>34638602>Like sending her, against her will if necessary, to a 3 month cruise [blah blah blah]>Or simply have her be implicated in a scandal [blah blah blah]Let me rephrase:Yes, cause any kind of harm to a relation of the Emperor. That will NEVER bite us in the ass.
>>34638656She spouts exactly the same manifesto that Mae does, right down to ghosts having more rights than humans. Letting her go free means she will aid Mae and Oiwa in their plan in an indirect fashion at best, and possibly get tricked into helping directly at worst. We need to make sure that doesn't happen, even if it means throwing Sato at her so that he keeps an eye on her.
>>34638544It's just... they live in a city called Boo York, and the Statue of Liberty is a witch. To me, that's not a sign that ghosts have their own parallel world, and more a sign that someone extraordinarily powerful is fucking with people.
>>34638823Mae doesn't give a shit about ghosts. She cares about herself and maybe Youkai who serve her.Humans, dead humans included, are just pawns.
>>34638827>someone extraordinarily powerful is fucking with people.someone implies there's only one.
>>34638861Really, it's a train wreck of powerful forces, each trying to enter our world at once and getting stuck like the three stooges in the door way and bending the frame.
>>34638823We're trying to change her mind about that right the fuck now. Plus, we might end up showing her the doomsday plan and see how she likes THAT.Also, it honestly sounds like you're the one who recommends killing people all the time. That's not cool, man.
>>34638928What I don't understand is why we don't have a pre-set switch on our proton packs to switch to the human bio-electric signature to traps humans, like the original Ghostbusters did when they did a stint as the Crimebusters. We've got examples of youkai around, so shouldn't we be able to get their bioelectric signature (since youkai do have blood and flesh) and modify our packs to fire on it?
>>34638928We should also tell about what happened to Oiwa.Since she seems to believe that people used to not be shitty to ghosts in the past, maybe we can direct her to working on solving the biggest example of Japan's crimes against the undead.
>>34638827Who says those things are mutually exclusive. When you have a lot of people, you want to find a lot of space for them to live in.There are a lot of powerful people in ghost society.Poso, a class 7 organizer and undead crimeboss who wanted to steal the GB's technology to control the east coast, similar to how we even have our own supernatural Yakuza here in Japan. The actual Ghostmaster, a class 11, who is in charge of all ghosts and commands them. The Player, a veritable Class 12 whom ghostbuster equipment was completely useless.>>34638900This is basically it. You have our own people dying and becoming ghosts, and then you throw in random assholes from other dimensions, demigods, and demons from hell you name it.It makes sense if they found their own little dimension to call home they'd build themselves their own world in their image (or maybe it even formed on its own). That is their world, the underworld. But this one is ours.
You ping your Chyme and Daisuke looks at it. "In writing." He says. "It should be in writing."Rei sighs and shrugs. "Sure. Why not."Daisuke hands her a notepad and a pen."I Rei Kachidoki, allow the ghost Yurei to possess my body." She says as she writes. "For is it not written, The Bluff Called Is The Winning Tactic?""Or something like that." Sir Sato says. "Umm," He takes a deep breath. "After this, maybe you and I can go get a coffee?"Rei blinks in surprise as she looks at Sir Sato. "Umm...what?" She looks at the others with a questioning look on her face."He's serious." Sir Akira says. "Oh and don't worry, he's not as nutty as the rest of us."Sir Sato looks honestly touched."Well, umm...we'll see." Rei says. "Maybe later.""Okay!" Sato says. He looks at the others. "As the ancients say: He Who Does Not Jump Off The Bridge Never Knows if He Can Swim.""Or something like that." Rei says. "Okay, 'spook.' " She says to you. "Come on in."You float up to her. Close your eyes to shut out any other stimuli and then you pour your being, your presence, and your will INTO Rei.There's no resistance, and no Golden energy cracking before your eyes as there was when you touched her. It actually feels like you're going down a passage that's exclusive for you. That doesn't make this any less terrifying as everything that you are SMASHES into everything that Rei is, and forcibly SHOVES, CRUSHES, SMASHES, AND BEATS it out of the way so that YOU and all that YOU are can FILL this fragile, but amazing, little husk. You hope that it's a comfort to Rei that you're shrieking in terror as much as she is during this process. Even though it takes half a breath, and no one can hear.> Roll 4d6, highest roll plays
>>34639134>The Player, a veritable Class 12 whom ghostbuster equipment was completely useless.I wonder if the player assisted the Rookie during the events of Ghostbusters the game.

Ah, dammit. We've got positively charged mood slime, right? Why didn't we use it to boost Yurei's powers?
>>34639242You feel something wet trickle down your face. You touch your hand to your nose. You have a bloody nose. Also you think you might have wet yourself.Oh.OH.OH!"I'm...I'm..." You take in a few deep breaths and FEEL the air in your lungs. You take a few steps with your feet and you feel the hard solid ground."Rei?" The other man, Hikaru, asks. "Rei, are you...are you okay?"You shake your head. "Not Rei!" You say.OH! OH OH OH! You have a brain again! You can FEEL the rush of chemicals and electric impulses, and every cell of your body is alive, it's alive YOU'RE ALIVE!Tears are falling down your face.Oh so much to do...but...This body isn't yours, ...and you can hear Rei. She's weeping, and shrieking, and begging you to leave....but she invited you in. You don't HAVE to do anything.> FOOD! Screw the solidifier, you want to taste a rice cracker with your tongue! >>34639569> Use your new brain to REMEMBER things. The difference between being a will and having a BRAIN is so staggering that saying it's the difference between an atom and the size of the universe is still an amazingly weak analogy. This this this this.If we're lucky we can remember some of it after we leave. Or maybe Rei will remember some of us.
>>34639569> Leave. This woman is being harmed by our presence, but as we do, say 'Thank you for this moment' to everyone here, along with her especially.
>>34639569>LeaveWe had our fun. Now let's get out before we scar her for life. Also, Rei will probably be very very VERY unhappy when it's over. I suggest we hit her with positive moodslime.
>>34639569>Use your new brain to REMEMBER things. The difference between being a will and having a BRAIN is so staggering that saying it's the difference between an atom and the size of the universe is still an amazingly weak analogy.Sorry Rei, but you're the one who doubted the supernatural. Time to feel that truth.
>>34639606>>34639600If we leave now, chances are she won't remember any of this and at best will be confused as to the nosebleed.
>>34639569> Leave. This is only a demonstration. The demonstration is over.
>>34639569I would go for remember because I'm a vengeful bastard, quite literally. But I think Yurei would leave.
>>34639569>> Go up to Akira and...and...and tell him how glad you are to have met him. And to THANK the othersAt LEAST this, before we leave. She will feel our FEELS.
>>34639600>>34639606>>34639621I disagree. I don't think that Rei fully appreciates that this is what ghosts can do to people, or that this is really happening.Too short a time, and she'll just wave it off as temporary hallucinations brought on by smoke, mirrors, and drugs in the air.
>>34639569> Leave. We're not a monster like those others, we should let her go. With thanks.
>>34639569>> FOOD! Screw the solidifier, you want to taste a rice cracker with your tongue! That alone would make you weep with joy.I really feel bad for Yurei and want her to taste just one last time.
>>34639569>LeaveBest not to risk angering the Gods. We can get one of the busters to agree to possesion if we ask nicely enough I'm sure.
>>34639646Hmmthen i am voting> Go up to Akira and...and...and tell him how glad you are to have met him. And to THANK the others. Oh, you have a voice and you want to sing!
This is just torture to Yurei if we make her leave now without at least doing one thing alive, also Rei likely won't remember any of this if we leave now.I don't think Yurei would just leave all of a sudden as well.
>>34639660But wasn't the possession as easy, as channeled, as it was BECAUSE Rei is part of the Imperial Family, has a tiny portion of their power, and invited Yurei in?I don't think it would be as easy, or as in-sync, with another living person who isn't as spiritually in-tune with the spirit world and ghosts.
>>34639660>Best not to risk angering the GodsHey, Rei invited Yurei in. It's in writing, properly witnessed.I mean, the Heavenly Protections that slammed down (gently) on Yurei for even daring to touch Rei without permission, practically guided her in to Rei's body. The Japanese kami are all about "you asked for it, you deal with the consequences".
>>34639695Agreed. Doing ONE thing (preferably Akira related) would be totally in character.
>>34639754Yeah, I just hope that being a disembodied person who hasn't spoke in lord knows how many years remembers how to speak.Or how to run.or how to breathe.I'm wondering if we go there she won't be blabbering gibberish because she forgets what a voice box is like, or tries to sing in Rei's not exactly pitch perfect voice.Oh, and Akira will probably have no idea what is going on.
>>34639754Okay, here's the problem.Right now, Leave has 6.Food has 1, Akira has 3, and Remembering has 2.We need to consolidate the Stay votes, or Leave will definitely win.>>34639777>remembers how to speak. She shook her head and spoke just fine, though.>"I'm...I'm..." You take in a few deep breaths and FEEL the air in your lungs. You take a few steps with your feet and you feel the hard solid ground.>You shake your head. "Not Rei!" You say. She's got no problems with walking, breathing, or talking.
>>34639777Doesn't she at least deserve a chance? Wouldn't any of us, in the same situation?
>>34639569> Go up to Akira and...and...and tell him how glad you are to have met him. And to THANK the others.Leave out the singing part. The gods might be forgiving of possessing someone to tell another that you love him, but not so much frittering time in semi-royalties bodies.
>>34639777>I just hope that being a disembodied person who hasn't spoke in lord knows how many years remembers how to speak.>I'm wondering if we go there she won't be blabbering gibberish because she forgets what a voice box is likeDude, she spoke, breathed, and moved Rei's body just fine. >>34639815>>34639822>>34639838Well fuck me, it's 2 am here and I'm tired. Let's do it!
>>34639569>Use your new brain to REMEMBER things. >>34639569>> Go up to Akira and...and...and tell him how glad you are to have met him. And to THANK the others. Oh, you have a voice and you want to sing!Do at least this before we leave. Maybe grab a cracker too, those are quick.

>>34639905Let's do a tap dance.I kid
>>34639888If we dump singing entirely, I'll jump ship. If not, well, I don't want to piss off the higher powers.
>>34639600You look at your four samurai lords, tears falling down your cheeks."Thank you for everything." You say to them. You look straight at Akira. "I'm...glad I met you."You exhale and slip out of Rei. Your will, your self, your being. Back into that familiar mass. You try not to cry.Your name started with an 'K.'Rei collapses to the floor. Sobbing and shivering. She vomits over herself, and she wets herself again."I'm sorry!" You say to her. Oh...that's new. You try to speak to the others, but nothing comes out."I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" You say to Rei.Hikaru is at her side. "What did you DO to her?!" He asks everyone at the factory.Rei grabs Hikaru's checkered shirt and pulls herself up. She turns to look at all of you with wide eyes."Stop. Apologizing." She says, slowly, pointing at you.She spits out the last bits of vomit in her mouth. Then looks at the Ghostbusters. "THAT'S what ghosts do?""Some." Daisuke says. "Some just attack people directly." He smiles at her. "You wouldn't believe the kind of crap some ghosts and some yokai say. Most of them are nice, or just want to live their lives...but the rest...well...they go around preaching about how inferior humanity is to their kind. How we should go back to hiding in the shadows, and on and on and on."Rei closes her eyes and shudders. Then she breaks down sobbing again. She clutches Hikaru, as she does it. Sato looks terribly jealous."We have a lovely tea ready." Star says. "But maybe you'd...like a change of clothes first? We've got plenty of spare jumpsuits."Rei nods.Twenty minutes later, you're looking on forlorn as Rei, her two people, and the Ghostbusters are all eating rice crackers and drinking tea that you helped make. The Ghostbusters have explained everything to them. The men are skeptical, but Rei has taken in everything with a stony silence. Mostly staring at her tea.She did smile at knowing that P-COC was part of an evil conspiracy.(Cont)
>>34639940>Rei closes her eyes and shudders. Then she breaks down sobbing againWe should have stayed longer. The Heavens would likely not have retaliated. If they won't let the brother of the Universe get away with being a shit, they're not going to go after a peasant girl-ghost just doing what an Imperial Lady asked her to do, written on paper.
>>34640023We also missed on opportunities to learn more about Yurei through added brainpower. Damnit
>>34639939>I don't want to piss off the higher powers.I don't know, I think the Heavens operate more like the Celestial Bureaucracy nowadays. I mean, the possession, as scary as it was, was still endorsed by the Heavens.>There's no resistance, and no Golden energy cracking before your eyes as there was when you touched her.>It actually feels like you're going down a passage that's exclusive for you.
>>34640079Hopefully that date with Akira can pick up the slack.
>>34640023Yep. It was just possession. Not Pandora's Box. Treading lightly sucks.
>>34640114That won't cut it until the next, if there will ever be a next, instance Yurei gets an actual brain and voice and body.>>34640131Well, at least this is good practice. Maybe in time she'll become proficient at it enough not to leave the person a vomiting mess.
>>34640131Eh, using someone else's brain to access YOUR memories seems like it could have significant backlash.
>>34640105Yeah, well, the Heavens do have a weak spot for tragic romances. Just look at Tanabata.
>>34640167Whatever it was it would pass, but now all we'll know of Yurei is her name began with 'k'
>>34640226Her name is Kaede.
>>34640188EXACTLY!And we squandered that chance they gave us.Yurei's only option now is to possess a miko trained as a medium. And the real ones aren't cheap because it's usually not just money they want (the fakes are actually cheaper because they only want money).
>>34640167Sometimes it seems we forget the "g" in /tg/. Didn't you want to know?>>34640226Keiko, Kaori, Kaoru, Kirari, Kiseki, Kairi, Kimiko>>34640242That's Daisuke's kid sis.
>>34640226>whatever it was would passThat's a bold assumption there.Especially if Rei would be resisting us.Also, having Rei be hospitalized would be very counter-productive.
>>34639940"The kami are 'gone.' That's...that's just nonsensical." Hikaru says."Not gone, just temporarily banished from the physical plane." Daisuke says. "As per edict of the Emperor.""How do you keep any of this straight?" Kuro, her other assistant asks. The ghostbusters all shrug. "We have a manual." Star says."Do you want me to sign something that will bring them back?" Rei asks."Funny you should ask." Daisuke says, as he slides a piece of paper right in front of Rei. "Can't hurt."Rei signs it, calmly. You all wait. Nothing."Guess, I don't trump the Emperor." Rei says. She was taken into his home, welcomed, shared food, acknowledged as part of the family. She leads her own followers, and she acts in what she feels in Japan's best interest, so she cares for the land. She counts...barely. That's at least what you can tell from the Golden Power that resonates within her. You can now see that clear as a bell. She can't undo anything, and she can't make any order that contradicts one that already exists. However, apart from that her words still carry a LOT of weight. You make a note to text-tell the others that, at the soonest."Damn." Daisuke says. "Well, worth a try. Anyway, do you want to stay and meet some Yokai? Good ones? They're building a sanctuary just down the street."Rei looks directly at you. You know so much about her now. She's the same way. Your wills, selves, and beings 'touched' each other. You don't walk away from that without leaving marks on the other."What should I do?" She asks you. "Should I disband PAGAN? I know the group, if I change them, it would fracture...or refuse to change overnight. I have to help though. I can't...I can't let there be a world where THAT happens to anyone else." She rubs her hands and blinks away her tears. She smiles at you. "Please, you're so much stronger than I am. Help me."(cont)
>>34640247But anon, telling you love someone is filed under romance. Figuring out your name, that's not very romantic, that's more under self interest.Besides, what if figuring out who Yurei was is the catalyst to passing on?
>>34640261>Should I disband PAGAN?NOOO. Keep PAGAN. There are still ghosts and yokai who deserve help and need protection, just remember that we go in and deal with the ones that refuse or in more unfortunate cases, cannot interact with the world peacefully. We seriously can't let her disband PAGAN. We need them to return Oiwa's face.
>>34640298>Besides, what if figuring out who Yurei was is the catalyst to passing on?The reason she is even here is because she wants to live again and she has ties to this world. She wouldn't go unless she wanted to go. And she very much doesn't at the moment.
>>34640298>Besides, what if figuring out who Yurei was is the catalyst to passing on?But that would make for perfect tragedy!Right at the moment of confession, she is forced to pass on, thereby making their love separated by the walls of Yomi. A Japanese romance tragedy would have used that as the climax of the story.
>>34640319>We need them to return Oiwa's face. You're going to need to give them a plan on how to do that, one that will actually work and won't be immediately rejected by the Japanese zeitgeist as being stupid.
>>34640261"Me, strong?" You ask her."You lasted years with those girls tormenting you, and now you join these people." She shakes her head. "I just stand on top of a van and yell."> Disband PAGAN, safely. They're too easy for Mae to dupe and they'll cause too much damage and they're hurting us in our cause. Also, we need to get civilians off the field.> Change PAGAN. You have the spirit of the Imperial Family within you, and it's power. You can MAKE them change and follow you. So what if you lose some people, or if it's not a quick change. You have your subjects COMMAND them!> Maybe you should cut ties with PAGAN completely, and instead reach out to the Emperor. If you can talk to him, maybe you can get him to take back the order that banished the Kami.> Other(Rei can NOT try and reconnect with the Emperor if she's still seen as a leader of PAGAN. She's too embarrassing in that case. So she can't do both.)
>>34640343>Change PAGAN. You have the spirit of the Imperial Family within you, and it's power. You can MAKE them change and follow you. So what if you lose some people, or if it's not a quick change. You have your subjects COMMAND them!
>>34640343>Change PAGAN.All the way up to command, though. If they're in, they're in. If not, best wishes in their future endeavors.
>>34640343>>34640319> Change PAGAN. You have the spirit of the Imperial Family within you, and it's power. You can MAKE them change and follow you. So what if you lose some people, or if it's not a quick change. You have your subjects COMMAND them!Somehow I feel that Pagan are a necessary wildcard in that they don't seem to be the focus of Tamamo's attention nor under their control. And they are directly opposed to the PCOC who are unfortunately, are going to be opposed to us.We need a significant force, a third party that isn't tied in the registry but has significant psyker and priestly presence, as well as heeding the words of the ghost lady/old man.Besides, telling her to renege Pagand would be like Telling Daisuke to renege his stance on the scandal.
>>34640343> Change PAGAN. You have the spirit of the Imperial Family within you, and it's power. You can MAKE them change and follow you. So what if you lose some people, or if it's not a quick change. You have your subjects COMMAND them!>The Ghostbusters fight things trying to hurt people, but you can help people, spirits, and those yokai exist together. Enough will listen.
>>34640343>ChangeDefinitely make a point about how their current point of view HAS MADE THEM very easy to dupe, so far. That can change.
>>34640343>Maybe you should cut ties with PAGAN completely, and instead reach out to the Emperor. If you can talk to him, maybe you can get him to take back the order that banished the Kami.Mae removed the kami for a reason. With Inari back, she can bitchslap Mae, and done properly, Rei could invoke Amaterasu during the lunar conjunction to run damage control and spiritual containment.
>>34640323...do you guys think we could ritualize the embodiment of tragic romance to create a sort of tragedy based superweapon? Make Mae cry in order to stop the second coming of Imperial Japan?
>>34640343> Change PAGAN. You have the spirit of the Imperial Family within you, and it's power. You can MAKE them change and follow you. So what if you lose some people, or if it's not a quick change. You have your subjects COMMAND them! There are still some ghosts out there oppressed by dark forces like what happened to Yurei. Your mission, Rei is to bring justice into their lives.
>>34640424The problem is, Mae most likely has the emperor and the people under him in some sort of geas or enchantment.Rei was able to avoid that because she's too embarrassing to be seen as a member of the imperial family, allowing one with the golden power of rule to avoid Mae's sight. If she attempts to reconnect with the emperor, she could fall under that enchantment.
>>34640428>Make Mae cry in order to stop the second coming of Imperial Japan? No. Mae is a clinical sociopath. We COULD use it on Inari to get her to bring the kitsune back in line, since she's the only one with empathy. But giving kitsune empathy is what makes them kami, and I don't think we want to make Mae a kami.
>>34640428But Mae is a sociopath. If she developed the ability to feel feelings, she'd become a kami maybe.Or at least that's what Kuzu postulated.
>>34640444I don't think she does. We didn't see any evidence of it, and Mae hid the actual text of the banishment edict from the Emperor when he signed it; something she wouldn't have to do if she was controlling him.
>>34640444Hrmm, the story did say he fell Ill, but I am not exactly sure about being under an enchantment. It could be something as simple as messing with his daily paperwork and throwing in so many in between the lines and tucked away clauses.
>>34640445>>34640452Sorry, forgot that bit.Actually, can Yandere fall under sociopathy?
>>34640445I don't know, I think it'd be hilarious if all it took to solve her was renacting the story of the Grinch and giving her a heart.
>>34640543>"Oh no...! Japan will fall into turmoil! And I care! WHAT'S THE DEAL!!??"
>>34640543Inari has a heart, and she's still a bitch.
>>34640574Nobody's perfect.God knows a lot of the gods aren't.
>>34640621least not the way his 3 supposed children and faiths seem to tote about him.
"Change PAGAN. You have the spirit of the Imperial Family within you, and it's power. You can MAKE them change and follow you. So what if you lose some people, or if it's not a quick change. You have your subjects COMMAND them!" You say."There are plenty of other ghosts out there who are trapped like I was. Lots of lost souls out there who wander, and are confused. THEY take care of the violent ones. YOU should take care of the quiet ones."Rei nods, and wipes away some tears from her face. "Thank you." She took a deep breath. "Also, you said that Oiwa is just as much a victim in this as well, yes?" She nods. "That is, if she doesn't destroy everything.""That's right." Daisuke says. "If we can find a way to 'restore her face' then she'd be able to rest.""You don't know what that means?" Rei asks."We have theories, but we think it means that we have to change how Japan sees her. Make the zeitgeist of Japan be of the beautiful betrayed maiden, not the vengeful hideous ghost.""I could try to start a campaign like that." Rei says."We'd get behind that." Hikaru says. "That sounds like a great PAGAN project.""But it's kind of...showy." Kuro says. "If what you're saying is right, wouldn't Tamamo-no-Mae notice us doing that?""Is there a plan B?" Star says."Could you pardon her?" You ask."Hey, good idea! Yurei said that maybe I could pardon her. I've got the power, right? I write out a writ that says that Oiwa is free from the seal and is able to Move On. Would that work?""Maybe." Star says. "I've been looking into that Papyrus. I think I know what it is. Although it doesn't make sense."(Cont)
>>34640683>"Although it doesn't make sense."Business as usual, carry on.
>>34640683"What doesn't make sense?" Daisuke asks. "Did you figure out how she hid that second message from the Emperor?""Well that's easy, blank ink on black papyrus." Star says with a smile. "You can't glamour something the Emperor signs or it won't count. Also, we found it on the papyrus that we 'borrowed' from P-COC's registry.""So hide it in plain sight." Akira says."Yup, anyway, it doesn't track, but it's the only thing that fits." Star says. "I THINK that this stuff is the Papyrus of Maat.""Maat? What kami is that?" Rei asks."It's not a kami. Maat is an Egyptian Goddess." Star says. "I looked in all the GB databases, and this is the only thing that matches and makes sense. Papyrus, black, used to make unbreakable contracts, it fits...but it's Egyptian.""And Tamamo-no-Mae wouldn't use it...would she?" Sato asks."Okay, so we need that papyrus to make Oiwa's Pardon?" Akira says. "Job's done, we've got the stuff you've stolen.""Which means we can't use it." Star says. "It's already been used to make another contract, and we took it without permission, the aluraune told us to give it back. We have to be given the stuff, or steal it while it's blank and untouched.""But if we get it, and Rei signs Oiwa a pardon that'll allow her to Move On?" Daisuke asks."Then we've won." Star says."So," Hikaru says. "Start a city wide campaign to free Oiwa that WILL bring down reprisal, or steal or trick some magical paper out from a genius kitsune's hands so Rei can make an edict that will free Oiwa.""Sounds about right." Akira says. "I vote the paper. Go back into P-COC, nail 'em.""I like the public plan." Daisuke says. "Maybe we'll be able to run both." You shudder a little. You can see Daisuke has that look in his eye. He's trying to figure out how many PAGANs might die, and how many he can live with. He's terrifying when he gets like that...but that's why the others look to him."I like the Pardon plan." Star says. "We take on all the risk."(cont)
>>34640861"I like the public plan." Sato says. He smiles at Rei. "And we should help PAGAN, make sure that they're supported so that when the backlash DOES come, you'll be ready for it."Rei bites her tongue. It's her call in the end. She looks at you for guidance. You know more about this than she does.> Tell her to run the PR campaign, and have the Ghostbusters protect PAGAN.> Tell her to just hold PAGAN back, and let the Ghostbusters get the Papyrus on their own. Then sign the pardon as soon as they get it.> Run both plans at the same time. It's dangerous, really REALLY dangerous for everyone...especially for all those people that SHE guides. They'd be taking on Mae without any real backup. But, two plans is the best bet for success.> Other
>>34640916God damnit I don't really know. It's late and I can't really remember any hints one way or the other, so it feels like whatever decision we make would be the wrong one.I know doing both at the same time is probably bad though.
>>34640946I'll be nice. There's no hints point towards one way or the other. All are valid.
>>34640916This is really really difficult but > Tell her to just hold PAGAN back, and let the Ghostbusters get the Papyrus on their own. Then sign the pardon as soon as they get it.However if Rei has people she can trust perhaps if she dresses them up in Ghostbuster jumpsuits and have them run around trouble areas without engaging, the real ghostbusters have a better chance of getting the papyrus.
>>34640916> Tell her to run the PR campaign, and have the Ghostbusters protect PAGAN.Let's see the Kitsune dragged out of the shadows and into broad daylight. She's smart, she's powerful and she's got a lot of plots...but she's working on a sneaky plan that could fall apart if she needs to suddenly go loud to stop a loud problem.
>>34640916> Run both plans at the same time. It's dangerous, really REALLY dangerous for everyone...especially for all those people that SHE guides. They'd be taking on Mae without any real backup. But, two plans is the best bet for success.> OtherCall me crazy but. . .I want to deputize her most loyal members as honorary GB and train them in particle acceleration. So they won't be completely without backup.I mean, after our trial by fire our very first bust, it can't be impossible to train someone else.We have packs and equipment to spare. Not to mention PAGAN has a small army of priests and psykers already.
>>34640916Would it be possible for the GBs to go for the Papyrus ASAP, with Rei preparing the campaign, then starting it up right after they get it so they can still defend her, or is there not enough time to do that?
>>34641028You know that's true. The PCOC are training their own magical army. What if we trained ours?
>>34641028Train our miko, our sister, our secretary (Who has used the equipment, during the raid) and send our vampire friend, to back 'em up?
>>34640946Whatever happens, we shall prevail.>>34641003>>34641028That's so "Three Amigos". I like it.
>>34641072I second that.
>>34641057I guess stealing the paper would need a lot of planning first?Like one thing to think of was that Mae likely knows that stealing the paper is a possibility, and has multiple contingencies in place. She's smarter than us, remember? But on the other hand, PAGAN could be beneath her notice until it's too late, or at the very least, something she's less likely to be prepared for.
>>34641116She also has her blind spots and thinks she's infallible, so if we find something we can take advantage of, she won't have noticed it.
>>34641116Yeah, I think PAGAN are oddly enough, going to fall into her blind spot. Especially if they make a sudden change from her expectations.
>>34641116Well, the thing is, she can't doubt her plan, because she thinks it's perfect, so it's more that we'd have to plan to get into P-COC asap. What would happen to PAGAN varies, and I DO NOT want to leave them without defenses.
>>34641085Happy to see people dig it. Bring the BOOM outta left field.
>>34641168Her inability to doubt her plan doesn't mean she's not aware that people will try to foil her plan, and to take steps in not letting that happen. Also, I kind of feel like there's not much point to telling Rei to keep PAGAN if we just go on to have them stay out of things, but that might be more me trying to judge what would make a better story instead of what's the better choice.
>>34641028A ragtag army of outcast miko's, psychcis, various magical creatures, and folks with proton packs going up against the creme of Japanese sorcery and the forces of hell itself, all while the Ghostbusters try to steal a piece of paper?I like the sound of it.
>>34641206Actually, I think changing PAGAN feels like the best of both. Japan doesn't really have a spiritual center of today (Mikos are basically a group of old nasty women), only of long ago.>>34641225This.
>>34641179>(Samefag)Sachiko discovering latent spiritual powers? Kaede being favored by a kitsune? Sana blasting yokai away from headquarters? These girls were fucking BORN to be Ghostbusters.
>>34641179>SamefagSachiko's emerging spiritual power? Kaede being favored by a powerful kitsune? Sana tearing up any yokai that gets near HQ? These gals were BORN to be Ghostbusters.
>>34641258>>34641297Didn't see the update I bet? heh, it happens.
>>34641297friggin' lag. sorry for the double post.
>>34641206To elaborate on the same point, I kind of would like to have Tamamo-no-Mae be defeated solely through the efforts of humans and the ghosts and various youkai and other supernatural beings allied with them, as opposed to the emperor or the kami just waving their hands and making it all better. On the other hand, a sense of accomplishment shouldn't be valued more than possible lives lost in the crossfire.
>>34641337Remember, the Emperor can't just wave his hand and make her go away. There's a reason the old Emperor had to hire an army and exorcists to kill her, and even after that she needed to be bound to a rock by a priest.
>>34641225Yeah, I gotta support this. Can you imagine the havoc their ghost rolls will cause?
>>34641225I don't know, I didn't think we had that much equipment. Also, if we give that many idiots proton packs, someone is gonna cross the streams. That's bad.
>>34641348No no no no, we're hand-waving away Oiwa by pardoning her. We'll still have to deal with the psycho Kitsune (yeah, redundant) who's probably super pissed at us once we do so. We should get in touch with the Oni. Can Rei order them about, since she is related to the Emperor? Maybe even offer to make them official vassals and body guards in exchange (dat honour, yo.)? Because I feel she might need some protection.
>>34641381While hiring them is a good idea, I'm pretty sure you'd need to actually hire them with money for them to listen.Like enthralling them to serve her doesn't seem like it would go over well.
>>34641028You smile. You whisper something into Rei's ear.Rei breaks out into a giant grin."I...have an idea." She looks down that the spare jumpsuit she's wearing and then back up at the four noble samurai, that you are so proud to serve."How many spare jumpsuits do you have?"Their faces all fall as they realize their impending doom. You're moving up in the world. Before you were just attending to four noble samurai. Now you're attending to an Empress. And she's building an army.END EPISODE 33
>>34641372Which is why I say 3 Amigos + Kali. We can trust them AND they have enough exposure to us to grab the rules easier. Ghostbusters in the building, and Ghostbusters in the streets.
>>34641398Also this would pend if our funds even match what Kitsune would likely use to bribe them for that same purpose, as she basically has the bank of Japan to back her as well as whatever treasure hordes she has stockpiled over centuries of existence, and exiting deals. The last we saw of the Ghost Yakuza, they were bodyguarding a kitsune who was our enemy.
>>34641372>I don't know, I didn't think we had that much equipment. You forget our good friend Ikki and her patron.
>>34641409Did we just reignite the Sengoku Era, and can we get Daisuke an eyepatch and claim he's related to Nobunaga.
>>34641409Looks like you liked that idea?
>>34641419Can't hurt to know their rate. And also I'm pretty sure they're not the kind of mercenaries who are vulnerable to the "I'll pay you more money" thing. Reputation is very important.
>>34641466Which is why we might face the problem that she bought out the underworld Yakuza long before we could.
>>34641409I have to say guys. I'm openly impressed. You hit on one of the key choices to the Golden Ending on your own without any prompting from me. And much much earlier as well. Well done. The Reject Zone is about to become VERY crowded.>>34641444Funny thing. You ask any Yokai about Nobunaga, they'll laugh. The yokai wanted nothing to do with him. He was open to foreigners, converted to Christianity, and there's the fact that he kind of was a smart tongued sarcastic jackass with a dark sense of humor. The yokai thought he was a jerk and avoided him completely. That's why they see all the portrayals of Nobunaga as some grand demon worshipping wizard as so damn funny.
>>34641502Oh, and which good choice did we make today?
>>34641521I bet it was the army, please let it be the armyDid I mention I like armies? If I made a good choice in this game for once, WOO!
>>34641502>He was open to foreigners, converted to Christianity, and there's the fact that he kind of was a smart tongued sarcastic jackass with a dark sense of humor.Aside from the christianity thing, that sounds like it fits Daisuke pretty well.Nobunaga was pretty damn boss though, laugh all they want.
>>34641502On the one hand I'm glad, on the other hand I'm concerned that this might raise your expectations of us even higher.
>>34641502>You hit on one of the key choices to the Golden Ending on your own without any prompting from me. And much much earlier as well. Well done.I can guarantee that it was completely an accident and we have no idea what we're doing.
>>34641583I reiterate, as ancients say, a broken sundial is right once a night.Or, something like that
>>34641521Both, I think. Pardoning + reigniting the faith of Japan in Japanese spirituality.
>>34641502Is it possible for us to send 3 Amigos + Kali as A) Our own loyals to keep Rei's in line, andB) Bolster our forces EVEN MORE.
>>34641521Well, think about it.Problem 1: OiwaProblem 2: Mae is going to unleash a multi-pronged assault across Tokyo, which will include the three BIG attacks, and general Yokai attacks across the board.Problem 3: All normal resistance has been crippled thanks to the Registry.Problem 4: Mae has written you off as a Class 4 threat. You are not worth the resources to dispose of, as compared to the estimated resistance you could give during the conjunction. Solution: "Is it not written by the ancients that it takes many cooks to prepare the many courses of the banquet of justice?"Or, something like that.Anyway, don't worry. You still have to get the Papyrus, figure out how to deal with the big three attack points (I think you'll love one of them. 'We're really DOING this?' 'There's precedent! A BIG one!') and then there's Mae's reaction.Fun times for all!Oh, and by all means, feel free to return to debating the morality of letting the Aluraune go, now. Thank you for tabling it.
>>34641704NEXT EPISODETHURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 11TH, 4-6 PM PST
>>34641704>and then there's Mae's reaction.I can only imagine it as her sitting in her office chair, hanging up the phone and clenching her fist before yelling; "I'll get you next time Ghostbusters, NEXT TIME!"

Oh yeah, that reminds me, with war imminent we're going to need slime. Not just any slime, but hyper positively charged slime. And music. Lots and lots of music.
>>34641832Heading to the nearest ww2 museum with barrels of Posi-slime and gasoline.Alternatively we can't possibly forget supersliming up the Yomi-1 blaring more of Star/Yurei's tunes.Oh, and we have an army but do we have a hulk? No, but surely a Golem is the next best thing. Maybe someone in PAGAN is jewish and we could do this Prague style.
>>34641832https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-oUEVrjSxS4Just the soundtrack in mind.
>>34641921I'm kind of hoping one of the Russian immigrants will be Baba Yaga herself, but on the other hand that might just make things so much worse.
>>34642051If she would even have power here.Speaking of Russia and China, it makes me wonder. Gods can be killed, so can the sons of gods, and dynasties set up by gods. Both the Emperor of China, son of Heaven, and the Tsar of Russia, with his divine right to rule, were killed their thrones cast to the side as well as their dynastyies, in the wake of Communism and Atheistic ideals. If supposedly even today Putin continues to hunt some of them down personally. China having a history of destruction of history during their cultural revolution, and the mass flooding of shrines and cultural sites by the construction of the Three Gorges Dam.It is no wonder they are experiencing an emigration of mythological creatures, when their very mythos is under attack.
>>34641704>Oh, and by all means, feel free to return to debating the morality of letting the Aluraune go, now. Thank you for tabling it.Meh. There was no "moral" choice there, just us deciding what we could live with. In my opinion, you can't bring back the dead but you can prevent more from being made. So, uh, yeah. I'm cool with it.
>>34642128This. It sucks, but we've got a bunch more fish to fry, and if it saves more lives...ok.
>>34642128Personally, I'm a bit leery about punishing the dead in the first place. Like if she's not currently killing people, and we've made it so she probably won't kill people in the future, while making it possible to catch her if she does start killing people again... Fuck it.Get too caught up on "justice" and "ghost prison" and you get Oiwa all over again.
