Why are Tieflings the best race?
>>33800135in 4e? idk. in pathfinder? nope
>>33800135Because Gypsy remnants of a fallen empire.
Hellboy is pretty rad. Do you think that it has something to do with Hellboy?
>>33800135That's not how you spell Warforged, motherfucker.
>>33800135Why are planescape tieflings objectively better?
>>33800135Why is OP a faggot?
>>33800242That's a funny way to spell Dwarf.
>>33800256>>33800268>>33800242You're all faggots.
>>33800224You've never seen real Gypsy, have you?
>>33800289look up DiTerlizzi tieflings you edgy wannabe
>>33800320We DiTerlizzi now?
>>33800298Yeah, they're closer to the Iranian ruling class.
>>33800135The, uh, horns. Yeah.
>>33800351We DiTerlizzi now.
>>33800135Horns, tails, and goat legs.
>>33800320First of all, DiTerlizzi a shit.Secondly, a "race" of special snowflake individual "muh terrible fiendish parent" is far more edgy than a distinguishable race of "Yeah, my great great great great grandfather signed a contract with an archfiend and my whole race is still paying for it"
>>33800268He's not. Tieflings are cool.
>>33800410There is you error. Tieflings are not a species
>>33800423Heh, I thought of you when this thread popped up in the catalog.
>>338001354e? Because the fluff of old Bael Turoth was awesome and idea of a whole race forced to wear the mantle of the former glory in full view is pretty damn nifty. It also opens up loads of stuff for interacting with other races, primarily Dragonborn, so as to explore different cultures' way of reacting to such a history. And there is the added bonus of the odd dungeon or ruin welcoming a Tiefling PC into itself as it thinks it's old master has returned.Plus, amazing race support is sweet too. Gotta love the Crimson Legion stuff.PF?While often used by edgemasters, I love PF Tieflings because I'm a sucker for the 'good person against all odds' trope. I love characters who prove to be genuine heroes and paragons of goodness despite the urges or tendencies their bloodline throw at them (even better if they don't actually deny then, just use them for good).Plus, I love the idea that there are demons/devils/daemons out there that would be willing to sire a half-fiend spawn, just to ruin a family's life some 10 generations down the line when the perfectly normal parents find themselves birthing a fiend-tainted infant.
>>33800382of course we do
>>33800298real gypsies very fun unless you like panhandling and attempting to steal iphones from tourists. imaginary gypsies are great.
I only have 2 pieces of Tiefling art....and they are a bit odd....Drawthreads, am I right?
>>33800564>speed demonI love this so fucking much.
>>33800572Isn't that the tiefling girl you meet in the anartch's cove in Planescape:Torment?
>>33800564the original request was for a little tiefling girl playing tag while yelling "Rawr, I'm a demon!"Immediately someone requested an Aasimar Paladin smiting said Tiefling. What we got was...these 2.
>>33800564>I only have 2 pieces of Tiefling artLet's fix that.
>>33800606>Knux losing itWelp, my day has been made.
>>33800572>>33800592I'm not really sure, but I think so.
>>33800135I think the only setting where tieflings are a race is 4e Forgotten Realms.
>>33800619Eh, this one may well be close enough.Either way, it's cute.
Daniel Radcliffe agrees.
>>33800674Well, in most d&d, Tieflings are a sub-race born when fiendish traits emerge in people. This usually happens many generations after the fiendish blood entered, with several prior generations being normal. They also sometimes emerge as mutations from infants exposed to fiendish energy from portals and such.4e Tieflings are basically marked humans from an old dead empire (or some other deal with unpleasant powers in other settings, like Dark Sun.)

>>33800820HOLY SHIT YESWhat would it be called?
Who ever thought up 4e tieflings should be fired. Tieflings purely existed to fill the niche of misc humanoids that have been touched by evil in misc ways. It was basically a way to easily let you make an evil character without being game breaking and open enough so that almost any sort of backstory could work for how they are evil. People are pissed at 4e not for creating a race, but from depriving them of that malleable tool to smooth the road from concept to character.
>>33800809Captcha's not the problem, it's the fucking throttle on posting replies with a picture. Because god forbid we post IMAGES on an IMAGEBOARD.
>>33800889And I'm assuming that the Warforged plays the role of the straight man in the relationship?
>>33800864Speak for yourself, I love 4e Tieflings and the fluff behind them. Also, as a related question, is it just me or are 4e Dragonborn basically the same a Tieflings, but under Bahamut rather than Asmodeus? It would explain why they hated each other so much back in the day, and now have a rather bro-ish relationship now.
>>33800954>is this ninja serious.jpg
>>33800925Would the police chief be a Dragonborn who hates the crap out of the upstart, unpredictable Tiefling? With a story arc where he decides he's had enough, tries to crack down on him but they end up making a truce because some human career creep is trying to move in and take over the station?Or am I being too heavy handed with placing 4e lore in?
>>33800889>>33800925>>33801002I would watch/read the shit outta this.
>>33800930Not really. Tieflings started out as humans, then made deals with all the archfiends, not only Asmodeus. That explains why you have the Baalzebul line which curdles milk where they pass, or the Levistus line which is more frost-focused.Dragonborn were made by Io to serve dragons as their servants.
No Aasimar fans?
>>33801002Knowing nothing about 4e lore, I don't find your suggestion to be undesirable.Oh, but the Warforged has to wind up injured for a bit, so the chief sticks the Tief with a new partner for a while, a partner that has to deal with reeling the Tief in while the Tief is out for revenge on behalf of the one guy on the force who would vouch for him.
>>33800925Yep. But mostly because he never understands what the meatbags want.>>33801002Nah, the Dragonborn is the rival cop. You know, the guy with the shinning badge, the guy with the perfect record, the pride of the precinct. The chief is an ancient pair of adventurers (one wise human paladin who's putting his neck out for the tiefling because he sees good in everyone, and one dwarf fighter who only has his job left). The Dragonborn and Tiefling eventually become friendly rivals, but at first they hate each others guts.
>>33801073Big fan of Aasimar. I just sadly lack pictures.
>>33801032Damn, yeah, it was Io, my bad. I'm sure they were human once though....Also, where were the other lines of Tieflings mentioned? The only ones I remember were the Bael Turoth ones and their pact was with Asmodeus.Yes, they made pacts with others later (the Infernal Warlock Pact, for example) but Big A got pissed at them for moving in on his toys and basically erased them from ever existing.
>>33801098>>33801086Wait.What if the chief is an Aasimar?
Gotta bail for a bit. Might be back later.
>>33801073They're okay. Had an evil Aasimar once in a game, played the goody-two shoes bit while messing with everyone. Nobody suspected a thing.>>33801105Big A dealt with the nobility mostly, namely the ruling family. The others were mentioned in passing in the Dragon magazine, mostly as warlock features (the Baalzebul ones were the family that made deals mostly with him, and had a broken mirror for a symbol IIRC) or alternate class abilities.
because muh edgyness
>>33801098Never coming back, WotC is retarded when it comes to fluff and shit on everything they do touch. Just ask anyone keeping up on MTG.
>>33801192Heh, I'm now imagining an epic level Tiefling Warlock yelling "Now, Big A!" into his wrist-watch and Asmodeus bursting out of the ground at his command.
Im dungeon diving against a cadre of kidnapping tieflings. Lvl6 4eAnything i should prepare to be extra stabby?
>>33800670Best tiefling art in a MM. Why did they only use it in 3.0?
>>33801322Your DM is a racist
>>33801248>Never coming backThank god. I can deal with half-demon characters after a fashion, but half-angels rub me all the wrong ways.
>>33801085He ends up with the Dragonborn, because he was too reckless and got his partner hurt. Now he's both out for revenge and to make up for injuring his partner.>>33801315I didn't know Asmodeus was into growing tomatoes. We're never getting season 3 of Big O and that makes me sad.
>>33801359Tieflings aren't half demons.
>>33801395Depends on the edition.
>>33801317Prepare your anus, it will save you some bruising.
>>33801378Indeed.Still, at least we can thank Cartoon Network for getting us that second season at least.....and one f the most mindfucky endings ever
>>33801378Story arc ends in mutual respect.Shit, now we just need some sort of recurring crime bosses.
>>33801395Not technically, but we all know that's the archetype they fill.Just like we all know warforged are robots, despite technically being constructs.
>>33800135In 4e? hell no.In 3.x where you could customize them as you liked and they were all different and diverse because they came from different types of demons? hell yes.Fuck, even PF got them right.
>>33801192You wouldn't happen to know which dragon mag this was mentioned in, would you?
>>33801689Not him but I think some of the different family info is in Players Handbook Races: Teiflings. Its unfortunate that only Tieflings and Dragonborn got their own books. I want a Goliath book.
>>33801453Let's see. How much cheese do we want?>Tiefling girl on the wrong side of the law but has a heart of gold, serves as the romantic interest for the tief cop.>Rich Aasimar trader who's in charge of that part of the city, rumored to have connections with the underworld and is utterly corrupt. He's also bald.>Crazy wizard who steals mostly to fund his experiments. Starts as a comedic relief, but reveals his tragic backstory. Warforged guy holds him in high regard.>Human cleric of Asmodeus. Incredibly rich, powerful, and manipulating. Interested in acquiring the tief cop to serve Asmodeus as his ancestors did.>Team of corrupt cops - one Half-Orc and one Half-Elf. One serves as muscle, the other as the face. Not so much villains as corrupt dickheads.>The tief cop's old gang. From street rat to a cop, who knew?>The executioner. Nobody knows who he is, where he came from, or what he wants. He's a giant dude in a suit of armor that just wants to kill "law-breakers" at will.>>33801689Sorry, really can't remember the number. I remember the art had a tiefling with some mask in it, if that helps.
If we have tieflings and dragonborn, why arn't there any half-Ents?If we have Hellboy, why not Groot?
>>33801752>The tief cop's old gang. From street rat to a cop, who knew?I love all of your ideas, but I like this the most. Maybe they're reluctant to trust him after he became a cop, and also they lose face when the tief cop comes to them for info. Eventually they outright refuse to help him at all.
>>33801889Well, there are these doofuses from 4th edition. They're kinda like Ent-people.
>>33801889There are Wilden who were plant people. That's pretty close.
>>33800874Weremole is pretty based.
>>33801897Are we setting them in Sigil? If so, they're most likely located in the Hive, where there's a dozen gangs fighting for survival. If someone sees one of them dealing with the Law (especially if that Law brings in Mercykillers), you can bet they'd be under attack soon. Basically, they avoid him because he'll only bring them trouble, and they're nowhere as big as the other gangs who can deal with that kind of heat. He's sorta trying to convince them to give up robbing the clueless who walk in from the portal and maybe join the Dustmen or do something else that's not putting his surrogate family at risk. Could serve as a potential plot hook when the Cleric of Asmodeus who runs the smithies and metalworking facilities in the Lower Sigil (where there be devils and demons) offers them a safe haven and a job in exchange for some favors.
>>33802232Oh man, this is so radical.
>>33800135arent they taking them out of pathfinder society play?
>>33801073Pathfinder made me dislike Aasimar, as there was almost no reason, mechanically, to play anything else, as their stats were broken.
>>33800670That's not -2 CHA!
>>33802695Personally, I allow them, but then my group (other than 1 guy, and he doesn't really like Aasimar) are not very good at optimisation, so....
>>33802298The Cleric of Asmodeus and the Aasimar Merchant are in cahoots, but are constantly trying to outsmart each other. Both are earning insane amounts of money from selling information, weapons and favors to whoever is willing to pay the price. We could have a connection between the old wizard and the police chiefs. Maybe they were an adventuring party once, and the wizard (lich?) lost his family and has snapped in the process. The paladin and the fighter followed him to Sigil in order to make sure he doesn't do too much damage, and because of the few lucid moments he has when he's not acting like a Saturday morning cartoon villain.
>>33802695They are one of the best, but some races are still on par (especially if you have build ideas). I think Tieflings, Dwarves and Humans are easily on par, Half-Orcs are also pretty close.
>>33802739she took other things to buff her cha.
>>33802793The Two Halves (the crooked cops) are on the payroll of the Aasimar Merchant. At one point they use unnecessary roughness on one of the tief cops former gangmates who decided to work for the Cleric.
>>33802824I dunno, Tieflings and Lizardfolk are quite close, all others are at least step below them though I think.+2 to two stats without penalty, resists and a variety of other options is just amazing.
>>33802929.....why am I imagining the tiefling's old gang as a red version of the Gangrene Gang?
Welp, they're okay. Planescape tieflings are clearly superior, but the homogenous 4e ones have their place when you need race of dudes spawned in the image of a single demon.
>>33801126>Aasimar Chief>Not an Aasimar rival who's beloved by the station>Not having the Tiefling and Warforged be the outcasts.>Not having a Githzerai chief who's getting too old for this shit.>He's only three months til retirement.
>>33802989It kind of works. Maybe a bit more serious, but with a similar outlook and style. The Gangrene Gang did get some shit done in their own special way.
>>33803021>Githzerai chief who's getting too old for this shit.>He's only three months til retirement.Oh God.Should...should he have the mustache and everything?
>>33803051Of course. So instead of the Dwarf, the Githzerai?
>>33803051Yes and yes. All of my yes.
>>33803065Or we keep the dwarf, but he's acting as a private eye. And all his investigations involve him getting into barfights and beating the shit out of suspects.
Do we need to give them stereotypical cop names like "ramirez" and "kowalski"?
>>33803025Dude, when they wanted to be, they were amazingly competent.Remember when they were stealing Ancient Egyptian stuff for Sedusa? Until they made it obvious so they would be followed as bait, they left no clues at all.Apparently boobs were the motivation they needed all along.Plus, Buttercup's crush on the leader was adorable.
>>33803126It's Planescape, so it's not necessary. They need nicknames, though. Embarrassing ones for the tiefling when he's with his old gang.
>>33803164Tittays brought out the potential in them boys.>>33803197What're you thinkin', like calling him Bacon or something?
>>33802695>Aasimar>BrokenThe regular Aasimar (+2 cha, +2 wis) or the optional Aasimars? because either case, nope, they aren't broken.Humans are still Elder God tier race, with Halforcs and Halfelves pretty close thanks to their favored classes shit and the +2 to whatever stat you want.
>>33801752>Firesoul Genasi firestarter, he's a repeat offender they keep running into at the start of every other episode. He never burns anything of particular value.>Juvenile delinquents paint several dustmen blue, shenanigans ensue.>An alcoholic Balor stops by local watering hole, shenanigans ensue.>A Modron is assigned to their case, tiefling objects.>Repentant Succubus wages war on prostitution.>Bladeling gang causes problems, who'd a thought?
>>33801752>>The executioner. Nobody knows who he is, where he came from, or what he wants. He's a giant dude in a suit of armor that just wants to kill "law-breakers" at will.Mercykillers are bro-tier.
>>33803353>Repentant Succubus wages war on prostitution.Man, Fall-from-Grace has lead a busy life.Alternatively, make it a succubus and an erinyes getting into a catfight. Both of them are high-demand singers or something to do with the arts.>What, did you think we fiends are only known for their cruelty? I'll have you know I once skinned a man and his screams were in tune with my violine!
>>33803197The show will be called Stiffs (Warforged) and Prongs (Tiefling). That way it fills out the stupid nicknames and inuendo quota.
>>33803227not sure, that is just what I heard. that they will be taking all tieflings out of play later in the year.
>>33803428>Stiffs and ProngsBy Jove, it's absolutely perfect!
>Oldfags complain about 4E tieflings not being ugly like AD&D/Planescape's>All art in those books depicts them as reasonably attractiveI don't understand
>>33803667Old people have bad eyesight, don't they?
>>33800410>>33800289You don't know shit about Tieflings. They were introduced in Planescape, and they are the definitive tiefling. They were never a species or their own people, they're one of many Planetouched, people marked by the planes in some way. Your goat horned red skinned bullshit is shit of the highest magnitude.
>>33804030>shit of the highest magnitudeNo, that would be the artwork of Tony DiTerlizzi
>>33803470>>33803478>tfw this will never be a thing.>tfw we will never have Stiffs and Prongs
>>33802232They're all be members of the Harmonium wouldn't they? Mercykillers are the jailers and executors.
>>33804110I will cut you.
The only think to come close to good tieflings recently are the Pathfinder ones, and their extended rules and geneation. Tielfings don't appear homogenous, they're not a species or race, it's more a mutation. Same with Aasimar which they took a page from the Tieflings and made into something more than pretty angelic people. Aasimar and Tieflings should both be strange, alien, and unsettling.
>>33804306There are many things I could say to you, but I think this one works the best:You will never get the chance.
>>33804257The Harmonium is Sigil's police force, whether the others like it or not. They could collaborate with the Mercykillers and the Guvners on dealing with the matters of crime, law and such.
>>33800713Her evil sister is hotter.
>>33804409So would the Stiffs and Prongs crew be more a detective group within the Harmonium. Carry the badge, but not the uniform deal?
So what we have here is people who want one official tiefling across the settings without any deviations
>>33804457Could work. I really can't remember whether the Harmonium had any rules against undercover activity, but hey, they need they spy network, right?Especially with those Anarchists and Xaositects running around.
>>33804030>and they are the definitive tiefling. That's a lovely opinion you've got there.
>>33804411That's how evil sisters are.
>>33804771They're the ones that started it all, so yeah, they are.
>>33804771>I don't know what Planescape is because I didn't start playing DnD until 4e.
>>33805110>they were first, so they are best
>>33805877In this case? Yes.
>>33801752>>The executioner. Nobody knows who he is, where he came from, or what he wants. He's a giant dude in a suit of armor that just wants to kill "law-breakers" at will.>>33803407>Mercykillers are bro-tier.Anons, not just a giant dude IN a suit of armor. He IS the suit of armor. And his recurring theme informs viewers that shit is getting real.
>>33804409Technically, Mercykillers were also working as sort of SWAT force - they were going on any criminals that were way too dangerous for Harmonium too handle.
>Yet another tiefling thread shit up by 'MUH EDITION IS DA BEST' faggots I will never fill out my tiefling character art folder, will I?
>>33806761I can drop what I have from general tiefling images.
>>33806816(I titled this one after the way someone described the picture, don't judge me)
>>33806898OK, out of images already, so I'll leave this Aasimar. Of the good kind, obviously. The only right one.
This is the best place to ask this: how do I make 4e Tiefling in Pathfinder?! Thankyouz!
>>33806982Given that this page is almost dead (I posted the last bunch of images and added two latest comments on the cop show) and that I am completely unfamiliar with 4e and their Tieflings (except of looks, obviously), I don't think this is the best place. Also: I do not entirely understand what you are asking for.
>>33807065I wanted to use them for my PF campaign, background story about the empire and all.
>>33807134I think it would be easier to look for any wikia information on them. Anyway, I am retiring my watch. It's 4 am here.
I like the concept of tieflings, but I've hated every single take on them from a mechanical standpoint.
>>33800764Haven't read the books its based on, but the trailer makes him look like he unknowingly has some sort of devilish influence/blood within him that's starting to come out, and he's slowly corrupting the people around him. That might be WAY off. Like I said, basing off of what the trailer looks like.
