>Archivehttp://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Shadows%20of%20Zeon>Normal RuntimeFridays and Saturdays at 10pm UK time (5pm EST; 2pm PST).>Twitter@QMKingofHearts.The date is October 14th, UC 0083, and the time is just past 07:00. You are Lieutenant Commander Dominic O'Hara, and it's been six hours since Nina Purpleton contacted you about the theft of Gundam GP-02 and its nuclear warhead. Six long, wakeful hours of waiting for the official reports and for your orders from Admiral Kowen to come down to your team. Finally, about fifteen minutes ago, Karen called you all into her office for the long-awaited briefing.“You didn't sleep at all, did you?” Carya asks as she takes a seat next to you and passes you a blueberry bagel and some coffee. You shake your head. “Not really. Sorry if I woke you two up.”“It's not a big deal,” Catrina insists, sipping at her own coffee with a disgusted face. “God this shit's vile... you'd think working in the private sector would mean better coffee. Anyway, it actually doesn't bother us as much as you'd think, being able to sense people while you're trying to sleep. ”You simply raise your own cup in a toast before downing its sludgey black contents in one go... if the caffeine won't wake you up, your gag reflexes probably will.(1/2)
>>33679043Now that you and the sisters have arrived, the meeting fan finally begin. “Kowen's handed us down our orders for 'Operation Knockout', as he calls it.” Karen begins abruptly. “Last night, Gundam GP-02 was hijacked from Torrington Base, Australia, under coordinated missile and artillery fire. Much of the force garrisoned there was wiped out.”“Our mission is to help prevent the Delaz fleet from putting the GP-02 to use.”Haman raises her hand. “How do we get to Earth?”Karen nods. “The cargo vessel bringing our fourth suit will arrive in two hours. Our options are to take it towards the Shoal Zone to aid in finding the Zeon fleets stationed there, or to take it to Earth and assist the Albion and its under-manned MS teams in dealing with the empty quiver event. OR we could split up, but I hate that idea. Part of the point of our team is to concentrate force on one problem.”The way Karen looks at you makes it clear she expects your opinion.>The Shoal Zone op sounds like our best bet for averting a new war>Let's assist the Albion, Zeon stole that nuke for a reason>Make an argument for splitting the party?
>>33679073> Let's assist the Albion, Zeon stole that nuke for a reasonWhile I'm all up for preventing a war, I've got the feeling we'd get decimated in the Shoal Zone right now.
>>33679073>The Shoal Zone op sounds like our best bet for averting a new warIf they have no support, then they won't be able to enact their plans. I'm not entirely happy with the idea of taking on a Zeon fleet with a cargo ship, but not much we can do about that. The main issue is deciding who to give the new suit to. I think Rossweisse is the better pilot, but Haman is probably more needy.
>>33679073Support the Albion.
>>33679262Recall that between the two, Haman is the only one capable of using a psycommu.
>>33679073> Let's assist the Albion, Zeon stole that nuke for a reason
>>33679294Yeah, but they probably not going to give us a psycommu equipped suit since they're still Xbox HUEG, and we probably won't be able to install the psycommu mines in the cargo ship.
>>33679073Do not split the party. Ever.Contact the Albion directly. Get an idea as to whereabouts they are so we can pincer the 02 when Gato pops his head up. We can make a guess he's gone to ground awaiting for evac on a HLV. Get into orbit above the Albion and track their movements from spess. We either prevent the 02 from reaching orbit or nab the 02 as it reaches orbit.
>>33679073>>Let's assist the Albion, Zeon stole that nuke for a reasonGotta keep tabs on Kou before he starts fucking shit up.
>>33679340That's a good idea.Teamwork between ours and Albion's crew.
>>33679073What about that psycommu sensor, was that working yet? Would it be precise enough to send down with one of the girls to pick out Gato?
>>33679340>>33679370I think this is a nice idea, but the Minovsky hax means we won't be able to communicate with a ship on Earth. Although I think our best chance of getting Gato is when he comes up from Earth.
>>33679447We're still in the Fap Labs. We have a comm suite basically dedicated to punching through the hacks. We ring them up before we punch it for Erf.
>>33679447Maybe we can focus on fixing that sensor as fast as we can, as well as working on that computer. The data from the machine can help us track where he's going, which would narrow down the area we'll have to search. Then we use that sensor to pick him up.Combine that with the data we get from Nina, and we could predict his path.
>>33679073"I feel like Zeon stole the GP-02 specifically, so they must have something planned for that nuke it's carrying. Whatever their plans are, taking the nuke back foils them."Karen nods. "Their conventional fleets are also probably outnumbered at least six or seven to one by our own, so we could probably handle it.""Then it's settled, we'll head to Earth to support the Albion. Agreed?" The rest of your team show no signs of disagreeing. "I'll send a message to Captain Synapse letting him know to expect us," Reiko offers.Karen waves Reiko over to her desk. "Go ahead and use my computer. Dom, you should head down to the hangar deck and see what you can fix up to take with us.""Got it, ma'am."Your team's combat pilots follow you towards the MS hangar, where your three Gundams are looking in much better shape. The Viola's replacement arm looks normal again, and your own Lilium's armor plates have been replaced. Lucette drifts lazily towards you with a yawn, Defrah close behind her."Mornin, Commander," Defrah offers blearily. "We pulled out the stops for you, free of charge. All I ask is you remember to send us a card for Christmas, or something nice like that.""You have anything else you may need?" Lucette asks. "Explosives, beam weapons, e-caps, psycho mines. Anything you want to use to get the bastard who stole one of OUR Gundams, you can have. On the house, courtesy of the suits upstairs.">GAINED: ONE GOLDEN TICKET>What do you want to take with you, on top of your four machines and their standard armaments?
>>33679546>Fap LabsObviousy they're famed for their incredible advances in the field of Bonerology!
>>33679577Well considering the Gundam that was stolen doesn't have an I-Field Generator, and has fuckhuge amounts of armour, beam weaponry is a must, as well as e-caps.psycho mines would be good, but HE weapons aren't going to be that useful in taking out the Gundam.Destroying the Gundam is the highest priority, therefore convention arms are less useful than pew pew pew.>GAINED: ONE GOLDEN TICKETDammit, we don't have time to visit a chocolate factory, we've got a Gundam to destroy!
>>33679546What, you mean the psycommu?Nobody on the Albion would be able to send a return signal even if you tried it that way.
>>33679577Somehow I think the golden ticket doesn't include the GP03. Is the GP00's long range beam rifle better than the stuff we have? If so, then take that. If not, then... there's not really anything we can take that would be considerably better. Do they have anything like the RX-78-5's gatling gun, attached to a shield?
>>33679577"I want you, Defrah.""And the 03. We'll get this son of a bitch."Requisition more psychomines and e-caps. and move the psychommu into our freighter. Jury-rig one of our hyper rifles so the freighter crew can shoot the thing from the cargo hold. Nobody will ever expect a fucking tug to suddenly spring a particle cannon and vaporize them. If we have time in-transit, get the techs to weld handbars onto the side of the mobile armor so we have a fast attack craft. Wrangle up more of those Bowel Releasing Missiles.
>>33679577More Psyco-mines. Our opponents will be highly trained and skilled, so the ability to control some rather nasty little explosive presents for them may prove to be a god-send...Do we have the specs of the GP-02?Also, how well will our suits thrusters work underwater? As I recall, Gato was supported by the remnants of the Mad Angler Fleet, Zeons main Navel and Aquatic Assault force...Also Also, I assume that they want their Gundam back relatively intact, not in a Large Box of Parts...
>>33679577bright Noah?Backup suits, spare core fighters. Magnetic coating to upgrade the Albion's point defense turrets. Oh, and a spare I file generator to upgraded the Albion with.
>>33679699What? We didn't bounce the initial transmission to Nina off relays? Shit, there's gotta be a laser comm relay network setup just for these kinds of situations
>>33679809I don't think Dom is willing to take the risk of not destroying the GP02, even if he has to put up with Nina's bitching. He seemed horrified at the thought of the nuclear equipped suit.
>>33679577Beams and mines. Lots of spare ammo, as well.Get Haman on the mines, beam weapons for the crew to pick off the Zeon forces. Also one of those cement bazookas, in case we can capture the nuke-wielding asshole.Just hope he doesn't decide to blow himself up when cornered.
>>33679577Can we change out the mines' payload or will that require additional quarters and bitching at Nina? Having a mine suddenly explode into smaller mines that magnetically latch onto your mobile suits hull before detonating would be kinda terrifying.
>>33679953Solid slug weaponry too. Cover all of our bases JUST IN CASE.
>>33679953Yeah this one.
>>33679879Anyone who either saw the One Week War, or the firing of either the Solar Ray or the Solar System would very much be very against any such class of weapons being actively created, designed or deployed... The fact that the EFF DID do just that either proves how incompitent the people who make the decisions are, OR that someone is playing Delaz to get the full support of the EFF in hunting down any Zeon remnants...If Zeon uses the GP-02's nuke, then They become the ones who broke the Antartic Treaty dispite the EFF being the ones who built the Antartic Treaty Breaking Mobile Suit...Also, Who thought having a Nuclear Launch MS LOADED with a Nuclear Warhead was a good, safe idea? Hell, who thought having the Nuke in the same Location as the MS was a good idea?Follow THAT chain of command... might find ourselves someone who's methods might be a bit to Gihren-ien....
>>33679577"I want you, Defrah," you reply casually, throwing both women off for a moment, "to stand by with the GP-03 in case the Zeke sonnofabitch gets into orbit. Can you use that tracking system you showed us a few days back?""Nope," Lucette sighs. "It's the only thing on this damn station that's broken, and we kinda... broke it down for parts."You sigh heavily. "Alright, so that's off the table. How about more psycho-mines?""We'd have to whip up a few more, but no problem there," Lucette tells you. "But...""... but?"Defrah picks up where her friend left off. "But the GP-02 is heavily armored. Conventional explosives may not work.""You said you had some spare e-caps, right?" Haman observes. Audrey's eyes widen in surprise. "I'm on it," the Ensign declares before bolting off.Catrina shakes her head. "You scare me a little sometimes, you know that, right?"Defrah looks confusedly at you for an explanation. "Audrey's going to rig some of those e-pacs to release their mega-particles as a single blast. Basically, it's a beam bomb that can be remote controlled.""I'll leave using those mines to you, Haman.""Right," she agrees. "Seems only fair.""Do we have any more microwave warheads?" you ask Lucette."Used them all, sadly," she admits. "But they'd be less effective in atmosphere anyway. Anything else?""When our fourth mobile suit arrives, I'd appreciate it if you loaded all four up with ammo for us and topped the tanks.""My pleasure, Commander.">Any other business before the fourth suit arrives?
>>33680133Make sure we do a run-through on all the Anaheim systems. We don't want our suits to fail to target anything yet again, and we need to check for other possible faults.
>>33680110The GP-02 was leaked on purpose by Jamitov and Bask.
>>33680133Where is the laptop? Recover any data?Did you check our mobile suits fire control software for anymore niggles?Clay Bazookas. Mines may not pen the 02's armor. Won't matter if he can't move.Oh! E-caps! Rig a couple of those to blow and we'll certainly cause some damage if we can get them close enough (duct tape them to a mine).
>>33680133Emary mentioned beam jittes, do they have any available they could refit to our rifles real quick?Base jabbers, if they have any built. I know it's not likely, but having some would be incredibly useful. Aubrey said she was looking into getting us some, so they could have them. And check all the targeting systems. We can't have a mistake like that again.
>>33680133Get Nina on the horn, see what the situation over there is. Their supplies, weapons, plan of attack, all that.Check the laptop and if the sensor's been fixed.>>33680012Best case scenario would be to coordinate with the Albion crew, so we know what they're capable of doing and covering their weaknesses. Also to check in with Intelligence if they have some data on possible Zeon activity down there - the mines would be great against a Mussai or two.Otherwise, we're going for termination if capture is not possible.
>>33679577Defrah and the GP-03.
Honestly guys, I think capture is the worst possible option. What if we get in a position to capture it, and it launches it's nuke or self-destructs? I know we all want more Gundams, but even if it survives, do you really want the Titans with the GP02 along with their poison gas and mass-murder?
>>33680277Dude, pay attention, that E-cap trick was mentioned in the post you linked to. Haman has beam missiles now. Though I wonder how they'll interact with I-Field defenses. I-Fields of this period tend not to function if the beam is emitted within the radius of the field, which is why you can still hit them with beam sabers. So would a point-blank E-cap detonation work?
>>33680397Dom rolls for seduce against Gato.Gato seduces Dom instead. It's complicated.
>>33680298I mean targeting systems, not sensors. Shit.Though check those as well, I don't want us to have a saboteur on the ship and we miss or die because of faulty software.
>>33680425>was mentioned in the postSorry. I'm stuck in traffic waiting for a wreck to clear. Not paying complete attention.
>>33680397The Titans don't want the GP02. Jamitov is responsible for the Gundam Development Project getting tanked. He'd rather have terror weapons than weapons of mass destruction, the Gryps Laser notwithstanding.
>>33680425>would a point blank e-cap detonation workYou said it yourself, beam weapons function just fine within the lattice formed by an I-Field generator. So yes, you've essentially designed another counter to I-Fields.>>33680397It's up to you guys, but personally? If it were me?I'd blow it the fuck up and piss on its ashes, just on general principle.
>>33680535Not to mention preformance wise, the GP-02 is kind of a pretty crappy suit. Outside if its Nuke, it's got what? A couple of beam sabers for weaponry, that's it.That huge fucking armour? No so useful against beam weaponry. Also the Shield is designed to protect against the backblast of the Nuke, and is not an all-purpose shield. The thing is specialized as fuck to launch a nuke, outside of that disturbing possiblity, it's kinda crappy. Give me a GM Gundam like we've got over the GP02 any day. There's pretty much no reason we'd want to retrive it, it's *only* use is for firing nukes.
>>33680535We're going to end up destroying it either way. All comes down to salvage after that and implementing the 02's corpse into our own Gundams.
>>33680535But it was so menacingly crafted!I'll never get my GP-02 MLRS.
>>33680133"I assume you can't do shit like build an I-Field into the Albion, or magnet-coat its gun mountis?"Lucette laughs to herself. "Yes, it does seem like most of your more interesting ideas have a certain problem when it comes to putting them into use.""Then I guess I'll just check on the laptop you're cleaning up for us, and have my team give the Gundams the once-over three or four times."Carya nods. "Right, Haman? Rossweisse? This is a good learning opportunity. You always want to know enough about your own machine to tell when something is wrong for yourself..."As Carya leads the two junior Newtypes in your squad through the finer points of a systems inspection, you approach the work station where the Anaheim staff has a new programmer working on the captured laptop.>Ask him for a status report, be friendly (write-in)>Status report. Now.>Tell him to get out of your way while you see for yourself
>>33680655The only reason I can think of is evidence. Someone thought making a nuclear-armed Gundam would be a good idea. And not only that, they left the nuke in the firing chamber, just waiting to be stolen. They need to be held accountable for this, and having physical evidence would help a lot.
>>33680655Yeah.Though considering Dom's luck, we'll end up regretting it when Axis comes crashing down or something.I wonder if advancing such an artillery-focused unit will bring us closer to the Gundam X.
>>33680693"What's the diagnosis, Doc?"
>>33680693>Ask him for a status report, be friendly"Sorry about making you work through the night, but that info might be able to help us work out what the deal is with this Gundam-jack nonsense." These guys are civilians, so barking orders isn't going to make them feel great.
>>33680693>Status report. Now.No time for niceities, some jackass stole a nuke!>>33680738Yeah, the downside is that we have to work extra hard to avoid destroying it, while at the same time, stopping them from firing a nuke. Sorry, but stopping them from firing a nuke takes precedence over finding poof. We can look through records and interrogate people for proof, but we can't ressurect people who died trying to capture a nuclear armed suit.
>>33680809On the brightside, we can salvage the pieces when Gato transfers over to the Neue Ziel.
>>33680693>Ask him for a status report, be friendly (write-in)"Let me guess, MacDowell crashed after an all-nighter and had to hand it off to someone else? That's some nasty damage, then. Have you gotten anything out of it?"
>>33680693>>Ask him for a status report, be friendly (write-in)"So besides a ton of victorian-era porn, what's showing up in the files?"
>>33680655But think of all the Gundamium we could strip it down for.... make a nice little Gundam Psyco-Mine platform, stick on a Hyper rifle or two for mid-close range defence...Then stick an I-field Generator into the shield...Also, 'Accidentally' loose the Nuke towards the sun...>>33680809Could a well placed Clay Bazooka round jam the Nuke Launcher? Might stop him from firing it....
>>33680688There's nothing menacing about the GP-02, what are you talking about.
>>33681017Or just destroy it and build a new suit that isn't a waste of money?
>>33681017I kinda wanna see a clay MLRS now. We're going to turn into X-Com with a mix of Blood Ravens at this rate.
>>33680955Don't be ridiculous. This is Zeon. They fap to late Edwardian period porn, not Victorian. >>33681017Yeah, actually. The bazooka is stored in two parts that takes a fair amount of time to assemble. If we could jam the connector mechanism or outright destroy the barrel the nuke would be useless. Well, it would be unlaunchable, technically. It might still be useful as a self-destruct.
>>33681084>>33681088Clay Psyco-mine?Stealth Clay Psyco-mine?Stealth Clay Psyco-mine behind a screen of dummie missiles?
>>33681088>It might still be useful as a self-destructhttp://youtu.be/8yBP8_EeiEs?t=5m
>>33681209Gato isn't anywhere near as manly as Musashi. He can try that after he uses the GP02 to judo throw a giant cyborg T-Rex.
>>33680693"So, how's it going over here?" you ask the programmer, stopping yourself by grabbing hold of the side of the desk. The fact that you were technically floating upside-down hardly mattered. The tech stares at you like a deer caught in the headlights of a truck. "You," he stammers, "it's you. You're him. The Jester. Holy shit, it's really you.""Um, yeah?""Right then," the man says with a gung-ho salute. "What can I do for you, sir?""Just curious about your progress. You find his porn yet?" you joke. "Actually," the young man replies, turning his bespectacled face back towards the screen, "images were the first files we tried to find and restore. So yes, we found his porn... unfortunately.""Hm?" you ask. "Why was it unfortunate?""It seems the Captain was... well, he was a pedophile, sir. Into underaged Indian brothel girls from what I've been told. That was why MacDowell quit last night, just outright refused to keep working at that point.""Get the fuck out, seriously? So you volunteered?" you ask, raising an eyebrow. He shakes his head. "We drew straws. I lost, sir.""Well," you tell him, "Lucette and Nina have my contact information. When you're done restoring the data, send a copy to me... minus the kiddie porn. This data could help explain the whole Gundamjack bullshit going on right now, so I'm going to have to ask you to work your ass off.""Yes sir!" the man salutes you again. Well, now at least any remorse you might still have had over the death of that Captain is gone.(1/2)
>>33681287>Into underaged Indian brothel girls from what I've been told.Man, that's normal in the Gundam universe. We've got a pair of 16 year old newtypes in our harems.
>>33681287Don't delete 'em! That's where I'd hide my super sekrit documents! It's the perfect ploy. You're so disgusted at the dude for having kiddie porn that you don't scan the .jpeg for the hidden RAR file.
>>33681372Don't delete them, send them to that idiot pretending to be the red comet.
>>33681287>underaged Indian brothel girlsSo the Captain probably shared a search history with Char, then. Oh man, what if it's because of Char that he was into that? Like, he saw Lalah and Char and thought that it must be okay. The great Red Comet, hero of Zeon, is doing it. Someone would have said something by now if it was taboo.
>>33681287The time is now 09:10, and the cargo ship has just arrived at the La Vie en Rose. Your team has assembled, and is assisting the loading of Gundams Lilium, Iris, and Viola as well as your new weapons and the psycommu system. Lucette beams with pride as you thank her for finishing the work so quickly."Any time, Dominic. Just put those machines to good use, and take care of your team... huh?" she mutters suddenly, peering over your shoulder. "What is THAT doing here?"Turning to try and figure out what she's talking about, you spy a Zeon-styled mobile suit being moved to facilitate storage of your Gundams."That would be an MS-18E Kämpfer," Carya observes, floating past the two of you. That machine is familiar looking. "It's the one that attacked the Libot colony," you add. "That must be what Kowen wrangled for us."Karen stops directing techs back and forth and pushes off the deck towards you. "Its armor has been replaced with Gundarium to improve its resistance to damage," she explains, "and it's mounted a pump-action grenade launcher. Seems solid, but the Admiral sends his apologies that he could only get the one.">Can it be tested out? You want to check its performance before battle>You'd like to let Rossweisse take it out for a short jaunt, to try and get her used to it>Something else?
>>33681329Fuck, 16 year olds are legal in most places NOW.
>>33681419I want to, but I don't want to.But I really want to.
>>33681486>Can it be tested out? You want to check its performance before battleOh boy. On the one hand, Kampfer strong. On the other hand, I don't trust it's armor even with Gundarium. Let's give it a test drive first.
>>33681434So the captain's Dren?
>>33681486>pump action grenade launcherYou have my attention.
>>33681486>You'd like to let Rossweisse take it out for a short jaunt, to try and get her used to it.She's the one that's going to be piloting it, she needs to get used to it. We can make our evaluations from watching it.
>>33681519Who says they're not of a young Lalah?
>>33681486>>Something else?Wasn't the Kampfer built for speed? Does the gundarium weigh it down at all? It's worthless if it's too slow. Also, can they add a pair of Multi-Weapon Binders to it? Be easier for it to carry it's arsenal.
>>33681486>Kampfer>pump-action grenade launcherThis makes me moist. Take it for a test-drive first. We have one hell of a solid slug munitions platform now. Keeping that thing fed Helion-3 is going to be the challenge though.
>>33681486>Can it be tested out? You want to check its performance before battle
>>33681607It's more the fact that it's "OMG Pedo!" out of nowhere. It kind of breaks the suspense too, giving an after the excuse reason to hate a character who's dead and doesn't matter just because.
>>33681631It's not the Helium-3 that's a problem, a mobile suit's use of fusion fuel is relatively miniscule even over long periods. It's propellant that's an issue. Only so much liquid hydrogen you can store in those tanks.>>33681660I half suspect that the technician was lying, and he's a Delaz agent. He told us that to repulse us and get us to leave so he could get back to sabotaging the laptop further.
>>33681660>Hating a character over the porn on his Hard-driveYou do know where you are, right?
>>33681634me>>33681605Change to this>let Rossweisse
>>33681702>I half suspect that the technician was lying, and he's a Delaz agent. He told us that to repulse us and get us to leave so he could get back to sabotaging the laptop further. If this is the reason, then KoH is an impressive story teller.
What type of slug throwers can we stick on this thing anyway? Having another sniper that can quickly reposition would be handy.
>>33681702Delaz's forces are Zelots. Simply mock him and they would be liable to either bark in defence or move to kill you...could work.... just mention how Delaz is a coward, fleeing with his tail between his legs, leaving his comrades to die without any support... Zeon or not, A commander needs to care for his men...
>>33681752still seems like it kind of unnecessary, but whatever.
>>33681771"Slug throwers" don't tax the machine's reactor, which was why the production variant of the machine only mounted ballistic and explosive weapons. So theoretically, any sniper rifle would be limited only by the optics on the MS-18.
>>33681017Essentialy your plan can be summed up as "shooting the gun out of his hand."We're not the lone ranger, let's just take it out as quickly and easily as possible, and minimize the chance he has to fire a fucking nuke.>>33681329That's a whopping 3 years younger than us, big deal.>>33681486>You'd like to let Rossweisse take it out for a short jaunt, to try and get her used to it
>>33681702>it's not the heliumAh. I had read it ate up fuel at an astounding rate hence assuming the reactor.
>>33681755You gave Hearts ideas. Why did you give him ideas?
>>33681486> You'd like to let Rossweisse take it out for a short jaunt, to try and get her used to itGet her a slug-sniper rifle, and get her working alongside our previous beam-sniper.
Rolled 63, 34, 32 = 129>>33681874>If that had been my plan, do you really think I'd still do it if someone literally called it?>>33681486"Rossweisse," you call out. "Come over here for a second."Rossweisse turns and kicks off a support lattice to float over towards you. She seems interested in why you called her over."We've got a Kämpfer for you, would you like to try it out?"The young cyber-Newtype nods emphatically, excited at the prospect of having her own suit to use."Good. Suit up, and I'll give you a quick briefing on the machine's capabilities when you're ready to go."Karen nods. "I'll tell the La Vie en Rose staff to prep the new suit for launch"."Audrey?" you ask, turning towards your data analyst."Dominic?""I'd like you to upload the data from Rossweisse's flights in the Iris into the operating system for the modified Kämpfer.""Will do, Commander."Rossweisse soon returns in her flight suit, helmet nestled under her right arm. She looks at you expectantly, like a child about to receive her weekly allowance. "Alright," you tell her, "the Kämpfer is a high-end machine mobility wise, but not as overwhelming as the Lilium type. It also suffers from poor fuel consumption rates, so be careful not to over-tax your thrusters to save on propellant."Rossweisse nods silently, a determined look on her face that tells you she's ready to go it alone."Alright, I'll be watching your telemetry from here. So do your best.">roll d100, best of three

>>33682168Instead of using the launch catapult, due to the proximity of the cargo carrier, the Kämpfer gently eases its way out of the La Vie en Rose with Rossweisse behind the controls. "Awesome," you tell her over the comm. "Great management of the verniers so far. I think you're getting the hang of this machine pretty quick!"Your encouragement fills Rossweisse with a noticeable degree of courage: perhaps a little too much. A particularly bold course adjustment sends her veering to one side briefly."Remember what I taught you yesterday, Rossweisse," you tell her. "Remember how it felt, and trust in your own skills...">93Despite a brief flare of embarrassment at the memory of your hands guiding hers so gently, and yet so deliberately, Rossweisse gets a handle on her Kämpfer immediately. And this time, she doesn't lose her control again. The mobile suit easily loops through a few maneuvers of increasing complexity and g-loading as Rossweisse aims her machine's new grenade launcher at each wrecked mobile suit she passed. Carya and Catrina, Karen, and even Haman stop to watch her trial run. Most of the team is pretty damned impressed, though you feel an understandable twinge of jealousy from Haman."Okay," you finally tell her after about fifteen minutes. "That's all I needed to see. You've got the hang of it, so come back in."When Rossweisse is finished maneuvering her new Kämpfer into position aboard the cargo carrier, it's already 09:45. "Come back any time you need help, and we'll be only too happy.""Speaking of helping out," Emary Ounce speaks up behind her seniors, "I'll be accompanying you at least as far as Torrington. Maybe onto the Albion as well. I hope we'll work well together.""I'm sure glad for the helping hand," Audrey admits. "It'll be good to have another tech-savvy person around who's got some experience working with Gundams."And with that, you, Karen, Carya and Catrina, Audrey, Haman, Rossweisse, Reiko, Catherine, and now Emary Ounce board the cargo ship bound for Kuala Lumpur. The flight is uneventful, as is your transfer to a C-88 Medea cargo aircraft set to carry you the rest of the way to Torrington. The flights together take you just around 23 hours, meaning you step off onto the tarmac in Australia at 09:00 the next morning.(1/2)

>>33682954Well, technically the federation does have the tech for it, they just never use it. The RX-78 did an orbital reentry using either a crotch balloon, or using it's shield like a reentry sled.
>>33682870The date is October 15th, UC0083. You're standing in the blazing Australian sunshine on the black tarmac at Torrington Base, and god DAMN is it ever hot.Looking around, Karen seems a little surprised at the state of the place. "What a mess," she mutters, staring at the badly damaged hangars and barracks. "Must have been one hell of a knock-down, drag-out fight.""Let's get in the shade," Carya suggests. "Rossweisse looks like she's going to burn to a crisp out here." True, the young pilot's skin is particularly fair. Right now she's squinting hard to try and see, having just stepped out of a dimmed plane into a brightly-lit inferno. "Right, then," you agree. "We'll let the technicians unload our machines." Again, it seems Haman is a little frustrated at her lack of a mobile suit. "And make sure you're careful with that missile system!" you shout at the technicians in charge of moving the machinery inside the Medea. "It's a one-off machine worth more than you are, so if you break it you'll be paying for it the rest of your lives! Plus it's my fire-support system, so worst of all I'll be mad at you!" That seems to cheer Haman up a little, although it intimidates the technicians quite thoroughly. It seems you have a few options in front of you,>Find the Albion itself>Head in search of the O-ClubAlso, it's hotter than the Devil's own hottub out here. Finding that your whole team has done so as well, it makes you feel a bit more comfortable about being seen out of uniform. And besides, your rank insignia is also on your beret, so it's not like there will be any mix-ups or misunderstandings. "Hey, Haman?" you draw the girl's attention before tossing her your aviators. She quietly puts them on and half-jokingly models them for you. "We look fucking. Professional." you comment.Karen sighs. "Come on, flyboy, let's just get to the Albion and get out of the heat." Catrina snickers at you as she pulls a pair of old-fashioned aviator's goggles over her eyes. The carrier Albion is parked between two more or less intact hangars, accessible by a ramp from one of its hangars. You and your team let yourselves in, with Karen, Reiko, Catherine, and Emary quickly separating to alert the technical teams of your arrival. >>33684704“Hehehehe...” you chuckle to yourself. Really, this guy's too much for you to handle right now. You want a fight... that it?” he grunts.“Oh, I don't intend to fight you,” you admit to him. “I'm just going to laugh at you. Like this.” And then you let it loose: the famous laughter you've become so well known for. It's a howling laugh, one that the technicians and your team can feel reverberating through their bodies. The Lieutenant takes a swing at you, but you continue to laugh.“Missed me, you old perv! Where are you looking?” Your brief time training in capoeira means you can lightly slide right out of the way, ducking under his arm and ending up practically behind him.The man swings wildly again as you roll away. He punches downward only for you to cartwheel to one side. He's really not that good at this, is he?“Boop.” You taunt him as you stand on your hands and lightly tap his lowered head with your right toe, and laugh again. “Left yourself open, Pornstache.” His retaliatiory strike seems tired, almost languid, and is utterly unable to connect as you spin on your hands and flip back away from him to land on your feet once more. By this point your team is simply staring in awe as you taunt and humiliate your opponent, laughing all the while. A small crowd has gathered around you to watch as well.(1/2)
>>33685216In retrospect, we should have told them to cover Haman and Rossweisse's ears, not eyes. Oh well.
>>33685216“You were in the wrong, and you can't win this fight,” you explain simply. “So stand aside like the little bitch you are, so I don't have to hurt you.” As the lieutenant's hands drop loosely to his sides, you realize why he thought so little of you: you took of your beret when you came inside, like an officer and a gentleman. You now take a moment to rectify that mistake, placing the beret on your head and making certain to flash the insignia of a full Commander at the man who DARED to harass one of the women you care so deeply for. The Lieutenant stands aghast as a nineteen-year-old reveals that he outranks him by not one but THREE grades. “And if you lay even a finger on one of my teammates again?" you add. "I'll tear it off and force-feed it to you. Now get the hell out of my sight.""What the hell is going on in here?" you hear a vaguely familiar voice ring out across the hangar. "Monsha, what in blue blazes are you doing?"An older, rugged-looking full Lieutenant with tanned skin and dusty blonde hair limps into the hangar and frowns at the butterbars and your team, before his eyes fall on you. But you might want to meet Uraki and Miss Purpleton.""Already met Miss Purpleton," you tell South as your team leaves the hangar and heads for the "pilot's lounge": a comfortable ready room/lounge for the Albion's mobile suit pilots' use. "Oh? You've been working with Anaheim a lot?""That's what happens when you're piloting Gundams built by Anaheim's subsidiaries," Nina interjects. "Welcome aboard, everyone.""So," you begin, turning to face Lieutenant Burning. "This is my team."You go through each member of your group, giving the ranks and a brief explanation of their duty in your team. Burning seems especially interested in Karen, as he's familiar with her record with the 08th MS, and with your youngest two Newtypes. "So, you have four Newtype pilots and three Gundams?" he asks incredulously. Uraki, who you heard over the comm system when you spoke with Nina last, is even more stunned."That's right. Plus an upgraded MS-18E and a psycommu weapons system, capable of delivering mega-particle warheads at extreme ranges," you add. "We're in the process of getting our own ship, and possibly upgrading our Gundams with miniaturized psycommus of their own and advanced jamming and sensor suites.""You're moving up in the world, kiddo," Burning laughs. "With all that on our side, we'd be hard-pressed for a way to lose.""So," you begin, changing the topic. How old are you, anyway?""Nineteen, same as you Ensign," Nina replies, facing you and your team. "Uraki is piloting GP-01 because he showed a high aptitude for it based on the data from his fight with GP-01. He also showed initiative, which the admirals in charge of the project seemed to value.""So who are you, what's your record?" you ask the Ensign."I've been serving at Torrington as an opposition pilot against the Powered GM model."Opposition forces, huh? In Federation parlance, that means the guys who command expects you to beat even at a three or four to one disadvantage. Old machines, low skill, no hope for advancement: a dead-end job for usually lackluster pilots. But, Nina DID say that his combat data was unusually high, so maybe he deserves a trial by fire."Perhaps we can arrange a mock battle between myself and the Ensign? I want to see for myself how he fights."Audrey leans over to you. "I've been meaning to tell you, but the foot boosters I installed probably gives you hover abilities in atmosphere," she mutters."It wouldn't be a fair fight," Carya agrees. >>33688635Your first move is to duck behind the nearest chunk of colony debris, deposited here during the War when Sydney got hit. The Kämpfer was always one of your favorite machines, and this one is no slower for its various modifications: in fact, you can tell its joints have been magnet-coated. It maneuvers almost as well as the Lilium, though it feels a fair bit slower to accelerate. Ensign Uraki unleashes a poorly-aimed shot that impacts the debris you just passed, and as you jink left to circle around him he shoots and misses again as you vault over a low chunk of office building. You push your thrusters and slide the Kämpfer's feet across the sandy stretch of concrete like you're skiing, and come to rest behind another chunk of wall. You can tell Uraki is moving around the wall to try and outflank you: so very two-dimensional of him. It's a rookie mistake. The Kämpfer is all too eager to vault over the barrier between yourself and the GP-01, and as you pass clean over Uraki's head you shoot a paint grenade straight into his unit's chest. The greenhorn barely had a chance to raise his shield before you inflicted "catastrophic damage" to his machine. He quickly brings his rifle to bear, only to have you shoot it out of his hands before he can draw a bead on you. Your machine darts to the side as you fire, and Uraki makes his move. You rack the chamber, and a second paint grenade blasts the rifle away from the GP-01 as it dives to recover the weapon. The rifle lands somewhere on the other side of a chunk of ruined car park, and you slide your own Kämpfer behind Uraki's machine.Three, you think to yourself as you rack the chamber again and shoot the GP-01's simulated beam saber out of its hand as well as it attempts to turn and face you head on. Now both of its hands are considered "non-functional".Two. The third to last shell hits Uraki's main camera as he tries to bring the vulcan guns, his last line of defense, to bear against you. Though you continue having your Kämpfer dance back and forth across the sands, there seems to be little need for it.One. You sent that round into the GP-01's knee joint, dropping the helpless machine to the ground and coming to a stop. Your Kämpfer towers over its fallen foe triumphantly. "I have one round left," you tell Uraki, aiming the grenade launcher at the general area of his cockpit. "And no, I'm not bluffing. You should have called it when I gave you the chance."Finally, you hear the Ensign acknowledge your hails. "Fine, Commander. You win. I give up. And my conclusion is that while you still have a ways to go, you definitely have promise. We need to work on your situational awareness and get you more used to the mobility of the machine, but in time I think you'll be a damn fine pilot. If it seems like I and my team were being especially hard on you, it's just because we want to make sure you don't get cut down before you reach that point. Your CO, Burning? He was mine once, too, and he came down on me like a sack of bricks every time I screwed up. I hated him for it. But because of it, I survived when a lot of my friends didn't. You get the idea? If I'm good now, it's only because I had my ass kicked a LOT earlier in my career. You'll get used to it, you'll learn, and one of these days we'll have a rematch and you'll get back at me for all the grief I've given you. Look forward to it, Uraki."
>>33689699Commander do you help our new pilots just for the promise of sweets?
>>33689757Seconding this. It's a good rundown of everything and hopefully now that Uraki's had his ass kicked, he'll be more responsive.
>>33689431It's time we had a talk, Uraki. You're too nervous. Too strung up. You know the targeting computer just now and what you said about it?Your problem is the unrealistic expectations that you're setting yourself up to because you are going to the big leagues. You've got to go back to the basics, keep practicing, stop trying to run before you walk. If you do that, you can stand with veterans. You got assigned a Gundam? I didn't see how you could be today. But Nina did. And you know what? I believe I'll see you being a fine MS pilot on the battlefield. Now, stop slouching in defeat. A negative attitude is also a thing that kills pilots
>>33689431"Look, Ensign," you tell your defeated and dejected opponent over the comms. "You just got taken by an ace. There's nothing to be ashamed of. Even the best of us started off as a rookie, and we had to fight tooth and nail to come as far as we have.""You're the same age as me," he replies in frustration, "but you're already an ace that even the likes of Lieutenant Burning acknowledges, and you outrank me by four paygrades. I don't get it, what do you have that I don't?""Experience, mostly," you reply truthfully. "even having Newtype abilities is worthless if you don't know how to use them. I had to grow into my talents, like you're going to have to.""You really think I've got talent?"You shrug inside your cockpit. "Nina sure seems confident you do. And hell, she may be right. But right now, you've got to sharpen your skills. Learn from each experience on the battlefield, and use it to improve yourself. That's how guys like me survive.""I guess," he replies. "Anything else you think I should know?""Your Gundam's not invulnerable, Uraki," you tell him. "But then again, that means the other guy's isn't, either. It'll always come down to pilot against pilot, Ensign. Never forget it.">Anything else you want to do before wrapping up for the weekend?>Visit with Karen and Burning?>Chat with Haman and/or Rossweisse?>Etc?
>>33689881>>Visit with Karen and Burning?>>Chat with Haman and/or Rossweisse?
Rolled 36>>33689881>Visit with Karen and Burning?Catch up and talk about old times with our mentor and delicious redhead brown girl.
>>33689881>>Chat with Haman and/or Rossweisse? We saw that look, young lady.
>>33689881Go for after noon lessons with the twins.
>>33689881>Visit with Karen and Burning?
>>33689881>Chat with Haman and/or Rossweisse
>>33689923INVITE Haman to afternoon lessons with the twins. For reasons.
>>33689881>Visit with Karen and Burning?Let's catch up with Burning. See what he's been up to since the war, swap some stories with him about how we fought and trolled Char, stuff like that. Also, a thought just occurred to me: Where's Chuck Keith? He wasn't mentioned. Did he die during the attack? Because our curbstomping of Kou gets a whole new level of asshole if we did it right after his friend was killed.
>>33689983oh oh, this.
Why do I get the feeling Haman's the kinda chick who gets turned on by us thrashing Kou in a spar?
>>33690075A functioning brain? The girl clearly gets off on power, it's obvious to everyone.
>>33689983Am more a fan of Rossweisse
>>33690095>>33690075See. This is why we've gotta bang her and bang her soon.A quick romp on Dom's Wild Ride.
>>33690150She can come to. We'll haft to contact Nina and give her more eyecandy of us shirtless. And then make sure to rub it into the Master Pickup Artist when we next meet.
Rolled 78>>33690154Ah but we need Haman to be like she is in Zeta and ZZ. Now THAT'S an incredibly attractive and hot Haman. Such power, such personality, great looks, so alluring...
>>33690095Dear god, I just noticed Haman's hair looks like a set of puckered lips with wearing lipstick.
Sadly, I'm out of gas for the night/morning. So here's what I'll do. The last vote's options, since the votes were fairly evenly split, will get rolled into off time/transit time in Africa starting next Friday. It helps because that would otherwise be quite dull anyway. The next question, based on some responses so far, would be>Start stepping things up with Haman>Start stepping things up with Rossweisse>Step it up with both>Hold off, one romance is enough for now (possibly for good)Thread is archived, so I'll see how that discussion goes. Thanks for playing!
>>33690286>no Nina routeSure she's a bitch, but even bitches deserve the Dom.
>>33690286>romance them both
>>33690286>Step it up with bothSex makes our crazy space-wizard powers better, right? We need to get to "know" our team better.
>>33690286>>Step it up with both
>>33690310Crash and burn. Not just the colony, mind you.
>>33690215>Send Nina and the female crew photos of Dominic in various states of undressCANON REVERSED!
>>33690286>>Hold off, one romance is enough for now (possibly for good)I know /tg/ can't resist the harem option, but I really just fucking hate harems.
Rolled 27>>33690286>Start stepping things up with HamanDo you even got to ask? She's the Queen of /m/ for good reason!
>>33690314This! Both! Both is good!
>>33690286>Step it up with bothGo home or go big!
>>33690286>Step it up with bothBut don't forget CC.
>>33690319Crash and burn on the Dom. Bitches go wild for the Dom. I will dub thee Domscartes.
>>33690331>/tg/ can't resist the harem optionI'm starting to see that. In retrospect, I'm not sure what I expected to happen when I determined that tidbit about Carya and Catrina's character.
>>33690426You loaded the gun and we fired it into the ceiling killing any semblance of sanity.Gato route when.
Rolled 82>>33690452Nina plsgo.
>>33690426Your secret wish has exceeded entropy. On some level of subconscious, you knew this would happened and desired it.
>>33690286See you next Friday, then, Hearts. Thanks for running. As for the options, personally I think the relationship with Rossweisse doesn't have to go anywhere romantic. None of her actions towards Dom have said attraction to me so much as they've said...I don't know, gratitiude? Like it's not that he's an attractive male that she's responding to, it's the fact that he actually cares about her. It seems relatively platonic. I can see a big brother role developing more easily than I can see a romantic one. With Haman, though, she definitely wants something romantic. And I don't necessarily object to that. But I just don't know how we'd do it. Carya and Catrina are sort of the easy option, polygamy-wise. They share a physical form, so you never have to worry that you're spending more time with one of them than the other. Bring Haman into the mix and things start to get complicated. I guess I'd feel more okay with it if the twins were as interested in the possibility of it as we were. Like it's not Dom dating two girls (well, three, but you know what I mean), it's an entire group dating each other. Then I'd worry less that we were potentially ignoring someone.
>>33690452>die-hard Zeon supporter>Federation-loyal Newtype who's practically up to his tits in attractive Zeon defectorsNot gonna work, even if their sexual preferences WERE somehow mutually inclusive.
All of this talk of waifuing Haman and Ross.Did you forget Blitzen? Come on now. Everyone needs a sexy secretary.>>33690557If the happening happens with the nuke and Gato actually survives, I can see us teaming up to fight crime with our respective harems. After we save Cima of course. Gotta have ourselves a Cap'n.
>>33690557Oh, giving the "Zeon:Swell Guys" speech to Gato is going to be amazing. Just the level of denial he'll have to invoke to stay fighting us will be hilarious to see. "What, no, we didn't kill three billion people in the first week of the war. That's just what the Federation wants people to think so they could get away with oppressing the Spacenoids. Open your eyes, sheeple!"
>>33690543It's very difficult to say with Rossweisse. She doesn't say much, and there's a certain physicality there but also not to a great degree. Mostly it seems to be empathy, in which case platonic love and romantic love could be impossible to distinguish. In fact, I wouldn't be too sure Rossweisse would even draw a distinction.
>>33690634Don't judge this universe's Gato just yet. You should wait and see what he actually does; KoH has suggested that Operation Stardust could play out rather differently, but he didn't ever say it would necessarily be 'better'.It could end up being much, much worse, and a lot of it could have to do with Gato's involvement.
>>33690759Oh, we know that. It's speculation. Same as we know that nuke is going to go off SOMEWHERE. For all we know Gato simply won't come out and state the 02 has been stolen and nuke a Jupiter energy freighter as a false flag to cut off the Feds from fuel shipments.
>>33690849I don't know, I'm not sure that fits with his ideals. Gato doesn't want to starve the Federation, he wants the people to rise up and overthrow it. It's possible that this Gato is different, but in general things have been largely the same as in canon except when we cause it to derail. There hasn't been enough time for the butterflies to cascade into turning Gato moderate.
>>33690926There is also the oncoming Zeke refugee ships to keep in mind. People forgot about 'em I think when we decided to head down to Erf to play in the mud. I really wanted to stay in space just to interact with them and see where that went. We probably lost the [SAVE CIMA] option now that we're essentially following the canon crews' Hunt For GP-02
>>33691047I thought they were still a few months from getting here, though. We'll probably be back in space by the time they arrive. As for Cima, as long as we can keep Kou from starting a fight with her, she'll survive. Cima's tough.
Rolled 24>>33691121>As for Cima, as long as we can keep Kou from starting a fight with her, she'll surviveWhich reminds me of something.WE DO NOT FUCKING LET KOU TAKE OUT GP-01 BEFORE IT'S BEEN FITTED FOR SPACE COMBAT AND BEFORE HE'S HAD TIME TO GET USED TO SPACE COMBAT.Pic I posted before here, VERY related. >>33688164
>>33690621So the hole team than?
>>33691121Yeah, I just checked the dates to make sure: There's no way the refugee ships are showing up until near the end of the Operation Stardust. They left on August 18th, it is now October 14th. That's 57 days. The Kyongju took from April 16th to May 30th to get from Axis to Earth. 45 days, but it had a substantially faster propulsion system than the usual ship. Not to mention that the refugee ships left when Axis's orbit was farther from Earth than we did. So they'll probably take at least another a month or two to get here. I'd conservatively put them at arriving sometime in mid November, just as Operation Stardust is commencing its final stage.
