Peasant Quest Part 10Let's try this again edition.Character Sheet: http://pastebin.com/5PdCKbwcQM Twitter: https://twitter.com/HeliosQMThe story so far (Ignore 2A) : http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=peasant+questIt is the winter of 1938, you remain mostly ignorant of the political turmoil about to engulf Europe.Your adventure in Casablanca has gotten off to a rocky start after you had something of an ‘episode’ in a crowded bar and inadvertently caused the deaths of everyone present.Fortunately Siduri, who seems to rule the city has a soft spot for you and took care of things. How other residents of the city will react after news gets out however….You have been tasked with hunting down the servants of Ankou, Siduri’s brother and another of the ‘firstborn’ vampires. An unknown number of them are thought to be somewhere in the city intent on causing trouble. Your newfound chauffeur Yusuf has suggested 3 locations within the city where you might find clues as to their wherabouts:-The Sirius, a cargo ship found adrift of the coast it’s crew vanished. It’s been docked at the harbour and is currently under investigation by local authorities.-The ‘Night Market’, a gathering point for local undead and other intersecting communities. An excellent place to go for rumours, as well as to acquaint yourself with the cities other residents.-The Graveyard, Ankou and his descendants are known to be necromancers and always have a need for human remains of one sort or another.Where do you want to go?
>>33309627Ask Yusuf how he met Siduri -The ‘Night Market’, a gathering point for local undead and other intersecting communities. An excellent place to go for rumours, as well as to acquaint yourself with the cities other residents.
>>33309627>-The ‘Night Market’, a gathering point for local undead and other intersecting communities. An excellent place to go for rumours, as well as to acquaint yourself with the cities other residents.
>>33309652>>33309662>Ask Yusuf how he met Siduri Yusuf tells you that Siduri has been a powerful figure in this city for a long time, since before he was born. She is a hidden investor and silent partner in many local businesses furthermore no one gains any real authority here without her approval, though few of the cities living residents know this. Yusuf explains that he was once a policeman & in the course of an investigation he became embroiled in undead politics, eventually discovering the existence of vampires and (ableit unwittingly) saving the life of one of Siduri's daughters. As a reward, Siduri offered him a chance to serve her. He has done so ever since.*You note that Yusuf seems to speak of Siduri as if she were the most important person in the world, like a religious fanatic speaking of their god. He acts as though the opportunity to serve her is a reward in and of itself.* You make for the 'Night Market', a seemingly closed down restaurant in the Roches Noires district. The drive will take a little while. Is there anything else you would like to ask?
>>33309904Ask if we should avoid any topics around Siduri and if there anything we should know her
>>33310015>>33310021>Ask if we should avoid any topics around Siduri and if there anything we should know her.Yusuf simply responds that you should always show her respect and speak the truth to her*You get the impression that Yusuf does not know Siduri in any meaningful way, the idea of having an actual conversation with her seems totally foreign to him. She simply commands and he obeys.*Your car pulls up outside the restaurant, which whilst boarded up and somewhat dilapidated seems to be full of activity. Two large doormen stand to either side of the entrance.Do ask Yusuf to come with you, or to stay in the car?
>>33310158Ask him to come with us. He'll probably be more familiar with this scene than us.
>>33310158Come with us
>>33310194>>33310223You head inside the restaurant with Yusuf in tow. A quick display of the ring given to you by Siduri gets you past the doormen without comment. The interior is far more presentable than the exterior, resembling any other upmarket restaurant, though absent any food or waiters. There are a few dozen people within, both living and otherwise. Some are talking amongst themselves whilst others appear to be bartering with one another. When you enter the room falls silent at once and everyone turns to look at you, a few whisper to one another. It seems your reputation precedes you. Before you can say anything yourself, Yusuf steps in front of you.“May I present Anon, ancient firstborn and honoured guest of our Lady.”He makes a flourishing gesture in your direction as he speaks, as if unveiling you.No one speaks aloud, though there are a few murmurs and nods. All eyes remain up on you. What do you do?
>>33310435"H-hello everyone.. My name is Peasant Quest. Don't let me distract you from your business.." Then go around and maybe buy stuff and chat up the market guise for info
I'll give this one a little longer to simmer before responding...
>>33310557Obviously he doesn't say his name is Peasant Quest as that was a joke, but, I feel like he would be a bit timid, even if he is a vampire lord.
>>33310435"Greetings all, i am looking for Ankou's and his servants whereabouts, help will be rewarded"
>>33310640Please not this..
>>33310435Look around for clues.
Got a few different ideas on what to do here. The one with the best reasoning wins.
>>33310768>>33310640My opinion is that this choice is retarded as it will instantly tip everyone off that we're looking for him and paint a big target on our head. It's better to let as few people as possible know about what we're doing.
>>33310768We should see if we can sense him with our vampire powers before talking to people. Because he might have spies here.
>>33310906In one of the previous threads we were told that Ankou himself is not in the city, it's his minions we're after.
>>33310768"Don't stop your business on my account." Diffuse the situation, chat with people.
>>33310972I know. I'm not sure if we can sense his minions but it's worth a shot.
>>33310594>"H-hello everyone.. My name is Peasant Quest. Don't let me distract you from your business.."This seems to raise a few eyebrows in the crowd. Evidently you were not what they were expecting. They slowly return to their business, although you sense that you are still very much a point of interest. There are a few distinct groups in the room.Four rough-looking vampires, they are dirty and their clothes are ragged. They do not look particularly friendly.A living man who seems to be selling things, theres something odd about him and he shows no sign of fear despite being in a room full of things that in theory want to devour him.An attractive female vampire with the same 'almost human' look as Siduri. She is at the centre of her small group of humans and undead who seem in her thrall. What do you do?
>>33311093Check out the living dude.
>>33311120>>33311093This. He'll definitely know stuff
>>33311120>>33311144You make your way over to the salesman, as you approach Yusuf whispers to you. "A hermeticist. His order know many secrets but do not trust him, they are dangerous even to one such as you."The man's other customers quickly back away at your approach. The man himself does not seem perturbed. He inclines his bald head slightly to you."Greetings. Rarely do I see such an august personage as yourself at my humble shop. How may I be of service?"*This man does not feel the same as an ordinary living person. You cannot put your finger on the difference or what it might mean.*
>>33311318Ask him what he has to sell and subtly try to pry information out of him about ankou and his servants, but ultimately fail and have to trade something with him for the information.
>>33311367>Ask him what he has to sell."Many things ancient one, many things. The past, the future, secrets, dreams. It all depends on who you are and what you want.">Subtly try to pry information out of him about ankou and his servants."The Celt and his children are known to me. Such knowledge is also for sale."What do you do?
>>33311634Ask him for a vision of the past when you were with your family.
>>33311634What do we currently have to barter with in regards to money?
>>33311634Ask him for information on The Celt and what the price is. Then, proceed to haggle like we used to when we were simple peasants
>>33311722A great many Moroccan Francs. Though you suspect this man may not be interested in money.
>>33311757>Ask him for information on The Celt and what the price is."That would depend upon what it is about him you wish to know.">>33311706>Ask him for a vision of the past when you were with your family."To look back so far will be....taxing, but it is not beyond my abilities."
>>33311956Ask him what Ankuos interests are here in Casablanca and if he knows about any bases of operation.
>>33311956what currency do you trade in?
Keep in mind we need a human to help us with the spear, we should vet this guy as a candidate.>>33312027Also that and agree to the price as long as it is not absurd.
>>33312027>Ask him what Ankuos interests are here in Casablanca and if he knows about any bases of operation."For this as well as a glimpse into your past, the price is knowledge."He gestures to the vampires in the room."The one these call 'Mother', what is her true name?"
>>33312123Never trust a wizard
>>33312224GM, have we heard anything about a name besides that we think she's our girlfriend from 100k years ago?
>>33312315No, we havn't. Though it is pretty clear from what Arsaces told you that Kassa and 'Mother' are one and the same. You have yet to hear anyone mention the name Kassa. Neither Siduri or Arsaces had heard it.
>>33312271>Implying I said to trust him.>>33312224Supply and demand dictates that info is worth more then the offer.
>>33312433>Supply and demand dictates that info is worth more then the offer. He grins at you."You cannot fault me for trying. What else would you want in exchange for this name?"
>>33312547Whoa whoa whoa.1. How does this guy know that we know.2. What does he plan on doing with our waifu's name?
>>33312547>I want to see myself and Kassa in the future>Wait, shit
>>33312547What else would you want in exchange for knowledge of Ankou's influence here?
>>33312577well don't ASK him that out loud.don't admit you know it.
>>33312547"How about a weapon? Don't lie to me, now."
>>33312547To ask me mothers name is to ask me to betray her.(don't give a wizard a godlike beings true name)
You know, the golden spear that stabbed us was still in the hands of the Royal Society vampire hunters some 39 years ago...how long till that bites us?
>>33312714>What else would you want in exchange for knowledge of Ankou's influence here?"You cannot expect me to be satisfied with copper when you have hinted at gold.">I want to see myself and...my beloved in the future"I can show you glimpses of the future if you wish."
>>33312858Oh yeah, we should ask where they're hiding that.
>>33312858If we actually tell him, we should secure his help in getting her out.
>>33312862Hints can be deceptive. Your prices are clearly unaffordable. Never mind.
>>33312967Yeah we should probably go talk to the thrall master. If this guy wants info he will have to do more, he can't exactly get this info somewhere else.
I require a decision. As usual, best argument decides.
>>33312951pfff--Oh wait, you're serious. Let me laugh even harder.
>>33312951Yeah, if he knows all this info he could make a useful ally.
>>33313012You can't be this retarded. This must be the infamous trolling the quest so enjoys.
>>33313006He needs to tell us what he would do with this information before we give it to him.
>>33313006Just walk the fuck away.If he is willing to take a less completely priceless...price, then he'll try and call us back.Either way no way in hell is something that could be this magically useful worth making this sidequest go slightly faster.
>>33313027Why would he tell us that? Don't continue to imply we actually have this information. This is a huge red flag, no more mentioning the K-word, to anyone, ok mates?
>>33313027"IF I give you what you want, what exactly do you plan on doing with it?"He shrugs."Knowlege is my stock and trade. I buy in order to sell."
>>33313074I wouldn't say anyone, maybe someone loyal to her, but not these guys.We should ignore him and talk to the brutes or that vampire with the thralls.>>33313094Yeah, fuck that.
>>33313094Your prices are too high, later mate.Brutes time.
What if we just maybe LIE to him and tell him some other name, like Sonia or something?
You decline the hermeticists terms. You aren't certain why he seemed to want Kassa's name so badly but you aren't about to do anything that could hurt her."As you wish ancient one. I doubt we will meet again. Good evening."He bows to you, then is simply gone disappearing into thin air. No one seems to notice. What do you do now?
>>33313174He probably has detect lie or someshit.Might be worthwhile to pay him to spreed bullshit though.
>>33313122Or we could cut to the chase and head straight to the graveyard now.
>>33313234I'd rather ask the two other options first. We are here already.
>>33313219Lets talk with the lady that enthralled those men. She's probably someone in the know.
>>33313219"Hello fellow vampires, I'm pretty vampire myself. How about that weird murk over the senses to detect our brethren, eh?"We should probably try our own vampire-sense first to see this murk that Siduri mentioned?
>>33313268>We should probably try our own vampire-sense first to see this murk that Siduri mentioned. You can sense your immediate surroundings without difficulty, however as Siduri said beyond that there is a sort of interference. You cannot make out anything beyond 20 feet of yourself.
>>33313405We can ask the lady if there were any other new vampires in town recently, or if it's just us.
>>33313244Except we need direction, and social interaction is hopelessly directionless. Nobody knows what to do and it's all super awkward.I bet there's plenty of people here right now too uncertain to vote for one thing or another, having no opinions either way.
>>33313435>>33313264You approach the woman with the throng of admirers around her.Once again Yusuf whispers to you,"Elise, Siduri's youngest daughter."Whilst she does not resemble her physically, the way she dresses and holds herself does seem to be very much modelled on Siduri. She slightly inclines her head as you draw closer, her circle of admirers parting before you."You bless us with your presence firstborn. I trust you find our city to your liking. How may I be of service?"
>>33313622>Ankou"Can't say I've ever met the man. What of him?"
>>33313680Just tell her.
>>33313680His servants take refuge in the city l, I seek them.
>>33313680>His servants take refuge in the city l, I seek them."And good luck to you, can't have them fouling up our home. Alas, I have no idea where they might be hiding, I dont associate with such beasts.""Perhaps that lot over there might know something."She indicates the unkempt looking vampires on the other side of the room."They seem the sort"What do you do?
>>33313895Thank her, and pardon ourselves politely. Perhaps tell her we look forward to introducing ourselves more appropriately when we aren't so pressed
>>33313946>>33313975>Thank her, and pardon ourselves politely. Perhaps tell her we look forward to introducing ourselves more appropriately when we aren't so pressedYou politely excuse yourself and head over to the other group, Yusuf does not seem to know them. They glare daggers at you and one of them, seemingly their leader addresses you."If it isnt her ladyships latest meat-toy, what are you doing out of her hotel? 'Slumming it' like that one back there?"One of his companions seems to be trying to subtly disuade him speaking to you like this without success. What do you do?
>>33314055Curious about that ship, and how it seemed it might have brought some interesting new vampires into town. Clogging the senses like this. Know anything about it?
>>33314055"Tell me what you know of Ankou. "
>>33314055Do we have any ability to kind of impress upon him our ancientness? As if he would understand we are far older than 'her ladyship'Failing that, just sit down accross from him and say "I am looking for Ankou's servants here in the city."Are we in the position to fight them if it comes to that?
>>33314137The eldest among them cannot be more than 200 years old. There are 4 of them altogether. You believe that you could crush all of them at once without much effort if it came to a fight.
>>33314199Right then, do not act intimidated, just sit and ask
>>33314221If they start shit, kicking their asses could be a good way to get info, prove we aren't shit.
>>33314129>>33314131You take a seat at their table, not waiting for an invitation.>Curious about that ship, and how it seemed it might have brought some interesting new vampires into town. Clogging the senses like this. Know anything about it?"I dont know nothing about no ship and wouldn't tell you if I did. As for 'murk', makes no difference to us, that psychic shit is for fossils.">I am looking for Ankou's servants here in the city."Yeah I heard about him, some pirate king firstborn with a thing for zombies, likes to mess with 'her ladyship' for kicks. Might be I heard something, but Ankou hasnt done anything to me and mine why should I rat out his soldiers to you?"
>>33314353"You may find that a being of my power being indebted to you has certain benefits. If that doesn't Entice you, I could always threaten you physically."
>>33314448Or, you know, we could just flash him this.>-A fetching leather wallet, stuffed with Moroccan Francs.
What'll it be gents?
>>33314496try the money first
>>33314535Try money, if that fails threats.
You put a large stack of Francs on the table."I'll pay you well for any good information."The leader of the group sneers."You got the same problem as the queen bitch up in the hotel. You're pretending to be something you're not.""What are we supposed to do with money. It's human shit. We don't need money, we don't need car's or fancy clothes or hotels. All we need is warm blood and hole in the ground to sleep in. Far as I know, that's free."He snatches the stack of notes and tosses it into the air, individual notes scattering on the ground all over. This outburst seems to have caught the attention of the rest of the room, everyone is watching for how you respond. What do you do?
>>33314772Beat them up. Ask them how much they value their lives.
>>33314772It's clobbering time!Smash that guy's face against something hard.
>>33314772"Do you have a reason why I should not break you this very moment?"
>>33314772And while smashing the guy, ask if his cooler headed friends have anything helpful to say.
>>33314804>>33314811We have to make an impression here and we're way stronger than them.Grab one of them and pull off their head/do whatever it takes to kill one to let the rest know we're serious. Then grab the big-mouth leader by the throat and demand some answers.
>>33314851No, just grab the loudmouth idiot and ask the others "if there's any reason I shouldn't pop your friend's head like a grape?"
>>33314904I say kill him and ask them if they want to be next.
>>33314962He's only staying alive for a few more seconds because we can't be sure the others know what he knows, yet.
You rise to your feet and quickly seize the abrasive leader of the group by the neck, hoisting him up off of the ground. He tries to break your grip but is unable to move a single one of your fingers. He is certainly far stronger than a living man, but compared to you it is as the difference between an ant and a mouse. One of his companions rushes to his aid, but you swat her away with your free hand. You turn to the others.>is there any reason I shouldn't pop your friend's head like a grape?"Yeah"A voice from behind you, it's the other vampire you swatted away. A local looking woman. She has grabbed Yusuf and hold's her clawed fingers to his throat."Tit for tat".What do you do?
>>33315055Induce mania on her, cause her to drop to the ground
>>33315055What other vampire powers do we have.
>>33315055We can kill her before she can break the skin.
>>33315139>Induce mania on herOnly works on weak willed living people.>>33315146Relevant to this situation, besides being really strong and nigh invulnerable, we can turn into mist.
>>33315055Pop his head.
>>33315055Reach out and grab her.I don't suppose the MC ever figured out how he stretched his arm super long early on.
>>33315055You would kill a human? Oh my, what ever shall I do?
>>33315055Or, you can tell me what I want to know, and neither of them have to die.
>>33315266You have yet to figure out how to do that, but from observing both Octavia and Siduri doing similar things, you suspect it was more to do with manipulating the space between two points than stretching your arm.
>>33315350I would totally love to try and invoke this power again, it would show us as a unique individual to those observing. Can we maybe roll to do it?
>>33315350Yet another reason Octavia path should have won.Goddammit people sucked at voting.
>>33315350We should make a point about asking about that.Anyway ask if she will tell us anything, if she doesn't pop his head.>>33315386This is /tg/ I've seen two quests where the MC doesn't have fetal alcohol syndrome.
>>33315195Ask them why they're so reluctant to give up information that doesn't effect them.
>>33315386>both Octavia and Siduri Just ask her later.
>>33315303You can try, but you are not at all confident you would succeed (roll of 80+ needed).>>33315303>Or, you can tell me what I want to know, and neither of them have to die."Fuck you, we tell you and nothing's keeping you from killing us anyway. You fossils arent the forgiving type."
>>33315380So MC can literally go*teleports behind you*>>33315484But that's obvious why. And they especially won't want to now that we've devolved into violence.
Rolled 88>>33315527Can't we just move really fucking fast and slam her ass while still holding the other fuck?
>>33315527"Nothing's keeping me from killing you now, except for my generous patience. Reconsider."And I guess attempt to eliminate the distance between us.
>>33315527"I don't desire revenge, just information."
>>33315605>>33315527Yes, this. Give them a moment before fucking them up.
>>33315638Go with something like "Just tell me and I have no issue with you." if they don't talk leave just her alive for interrogation.
>>33315631>>33315676Yes because it's clear they're willing to believe THAT.intimidation is the only thing left.
>>33315691I agree. They've spat in our face twice now.
>>33315691>>33315702Alright fine, kill the brutes, and beat up the lady, use the reach thing if that 88 roll counts.
>>33315562Almost on instinct, you reach out with your free hand. Yusuf and his captor are suddenly two foot away rather than ten. They barely have a chance to register suprise before you slap the woman's head off of her shoulders. Free from her grip, Yusuf darts away and you punch into her ribcage and crush her heart to finish it.Her body collapses into a heap of smouldering ashes.Almost all the room is stunned into silence, except for Elise who sits clapping and laughing as if this is a show for her entertainment. One of the other vampires meekly pipes up,"Okay I'll tell you. Just don't kill us, please!""Fucking coward" spits the one with your hand about his throat. What do you do?
>>33315818"Tell me, now."
>>33315796No, kill her because she-->>33315818Oh good. Done."Finally, someone with sense. What do you have for me?"
>>33315818A coward? You know not the meaning of the word. I don't see why this one should live. Speak.
>>33315818Good. As a reward, would you prefer your friend here alive or dead?
>>33315818Fine, if she tells us what she knows they can live.
>>33315836>>33315838>>33315858>Finally, someone with sense. What do you have for me?He speaks very quickly, clearly terrified."The vampires from the boat, there were three of them. One of them's really old, creeped me out. Will (he gestures to the one in your grip) helped them get set up. Enemy of my enemy you know. They're holed up in a ruined Mosque on the edge of town, you can't miss it."He carries on."I'm sorry, I would've told you. But they made us swear a funny oath. Said Ankou himself 'd come down on us if we betrayed em."Their leader curses at him."You fucking moron, what do you think'll happen now?"*You have learned the location and number of Ankou's minions*What do you do now?
>>33316135Look to the one in our grip, ask his name. When he answers, just glare at him and set him down, then we leave, apologize to whomever it is appropriate, (Elise?) and be on our way
>>33316135Off to the Mosque we go.
>>33316135"Great. If you need help, come find me."
>>33316135Head to the mosque
>>33316205>ask his nameThe coward literally just said the leader's name is Will.
>>33316486Did not catch that
>>33316273>>33316438Shouldn't we tell our host first?
>>33316205>>33316273>>33316419>>33316438You glare at the one still dangling from your grip and ask his name.“Will” He chokes back a response, full of hate. You continue to glare at him for a moment, then release him.“You’ve killed us anyway, at least have the stones to finish it yourself. Quick and clean.” he exclaims. You ignore him and make for the exit, nodding curtly to Elise, who seems to have enjoyed the spectacle a great deal.Without warning a shiver runs up your spine, a malign presence has entered the room. Everyone can feel it, the lights seem to dim and shadows lengthen. The pile of ash on the ground, all that remains of the vampire you killed begins to twitch and dance before bursting upward, floating in the air.“Shit” mutters Will, hanging his head in resignation. The ash-cloud swirls in the air and takes the vague shape of a tall man, with a large object strapped to his back, shaped like a giant, crude carving knife.A terrible voice, like the sound of cracking bones comes from the cloud.“Oathbreakers, I have come for my due.”It sounds familiar, very much like the skeleton from Siduri’s hotel. This must be Ankou. What do you do?
>>33316792Politely converse with him
>>33316792"Ah, brother, fancy meeting you here!"
>>33316792It wouldn't literally be Ankou, just a projection. Is there even anything we can do here besides talk to him?
>>33316902Could dispell his projection, obviously. But operation: chat and make skeleton puns is far better. Puns are Ankou's weakness.
>>33316933What up Ankou? I need to ash you some questions, ya know..pick your bones a minute
>>33316792"Boy, when it comes to extracting promises, Ankou, you make no bones about it!"
>>33316988"Ah, brother, I'd heard you were SKULLking around town!"
>>33317143We're not actually brothers with him.
>>33317183>>33317143Infact, I think the mc is the father of the firstborn.
>>33317183Yes, and....?He won't believe that. Do you want to act like a crazy person who thinks he's as old as the Mother again?
>>33317183>>33317240We got a genius on our hands, guys.
>>33316832>>33316868>>33316902You attempt to engage in conversation with the apparition, but it ignores you."The vow was broken, thus all of your lives belong to me."Only Will isn't dumbstuck with terror."Just get it over with you sick old buzzard."He turns to you."And you wonder why we hate you."Ankou's shade unsheathes the huge weapon on his back, which is almost as large as he is, you cant imagine what it's supposed to be. He slashes it in a wide arc and it passes cleanly through all three of the 'oathbreakers'. At first nothing happens, the phantom weapon leaves no mark. Then the flesh it touched begins to putrefy, the corruption quickly spreading outward. Writhing maggots burst from the bodies of the three unfortunate vampires, hungrily devouring the rapidly rotting meat. All three scream in terrible agony, trying to tear away the spreading necrosis to no avail. Within a few minutes, all that remains are heaps of unrecognizable organic filth, thick with squirming maggots and newborn flies.Without even acknowledging you, the ash-spectre collapses back to the floor, the presence fading from the room. What do you do?
I seriously cannot wait until we are powerful enough to fuck with those guys. These kids have gone too long without something that threatens them
>>33317430Go to the mousque of course
>>33317430Contact Siduri.We got a mosque to raid.
>>33317430Say, "What a dick" and head to meet his servants. Ask if our companion has any comments
>>33317430Send our hummie to report and head to their base.
>>33317474Phones exist, right?Yusuf can call her?
>>33317503We could probably dart over in a minute or something.
Do you want to head directly to the Mosque or report to Siduri first?
>>33317664Report.Telephonically, ideally. She's a powerhouse of her own, she can help take them down.
>>33317664tell her obviously
Regarding, killing 1000 pure souls... which we probably already got around 100 of during the fogmurder.Find a warzone, eat the soldiers. They're young, probably plenty of virgins, right?
>>33317725Pretty sure that we've established doing what the tree wants is universally a bad idea.
>>33317664We said we can do it ourselves, but now that Ankou knows she has been discovered we might need help. I'd say tell her first.
I don't think the difference between type 2 and type 1 vampires was ever made explicit. Am I missing something? Are the second-generation vampires type 2s, with the thorns and such? And type 1s cannot make type 2s?
>>33317757Based on...what, exactly?Wishing you had died instead?
>>33317795From part 4>Type ones are feral creatures lacking the capacity for conscious thought. They feed mindlessly & spread disease until put down and are incapable of reproducing. They are perhaps as strong as three grown men. They are destroyed by decapitation, destruction of the heart, immolation, starvation and sunlight. Those who know of them consider them merely dangerous animals to be hunted.>Type twos are another matter, they possess all the intelligence and knowledge they had in life. They are able to create type ones at will as well as other type twos in rare circumstances not well understood. They are known to have the strength of at least 20 grown men as well strange supernatural abilities that seem to vary from creature to creature. They can only be destroyed by destruction of the heart, followed by decapitation or direct sunlight.
>>33317899So if we made a vampire, would it just be a standard type 2, or would it be stronger since it is directly descended from us, instead of from another 2?
>>33317959That was explained in thread 8.>>32883389 >Type two vampires are created by biting and draining a victim to death at midnight on a full moon and willing them to rise. Type ones are created the same way, but at any other time.
>>33317830Well, I'm just guessing here, but I kind of assume Kassa took the tree-priest route and she's batshit crazy. I only guess this because who else could she of turned to? There was a period of time where she had no children. Surely the tree would attempt to guide her
>>33318005Oh wait, I misread, you're asking... I don't think there are 'standard' things involved?
>>33318025She's insane because the MC is an idiot who chose to surrender them both to nigh-eternal imprisonment, abandoning her to live an eternal life alone. She's insane because she lost hope of finding the MC.The tree didn't make these two kids obsessed with each other. Her original vengeful rampage and suicide proves that.It was hardly in the tree's interests to kill the entire world, with no sacrifices left to feed on. If anything, that was her rebellion against the Pale Tree's plan.
>>33318025>could she ofIt's 'could she have', broAnd it probably only told her to have patience, and she ran out of it, obviously.
>>33317698>>33317681*You learned during your time with Arsaces that along with casting no shadow or reflection your voice cannot be captured or transmitted nor will you appear in any photograph.*You head back to the hotel to report your findings to Siduri. Yusuf doesn't say a word the whole trip evidently disturbed by what he has seen and how close he came to death. You find Siduri in her own room in the penthouse of the hotel, which is suprisingly modest. She sits behind a desk writing something down in a book. What do you tell her?
>>33318241We located Ankou's servants. However, Ankou is aware.
>>33318241...That's why we have Yusuf to call her instead, man. He's the one who would know her phone number anyway.
>>33318241"I know where three of Ankou's servants are hiding just outside of town. Shall we go?">>33318276We don't know for sure that's how it works. Was that projection even really 'him', or just a spell of his?Ask her, what's this "unbreakable oath that if you break it you die" and how does it work? Will Ankou know that the people broke their oath and betrayed him?
>>33318323>>33318276You inform her that you have found out where Ankou's minions are hiding but that he himself appears to be aware you're onto them. You also describe the deaths of the vampires who gave you that information.Siduri seems furious about the latter. That Ankou has killed three of her subjects in her city is apparently a gross violation of her sovereignty.>Ask her, what's this "unbreakable oath that if you break it you die" and how does it work? Will Ankou know that the people broke their oath and betrayed him?Siduri does not understand exactly how Ankou's sorcery works but speculates that he was most likely acting through the dead, which is his usual MO. She was in fact able to feel his presence when he manifested himself in the restaurant. Regarding the oath, she does not believe it held any mystical significance, Ankou was simply channeling his wrath directly and holds 'old fashioned' views about breaking promises. She bids you go to the mosque and to destroy those within, though she will not come herself she does not think it appropriate for the ruler of the city to do such things personally. She reassures you that Ankou is not physically anywhere near Casablanca and belives you to be more than capable of dispatching whatever servants he has there.
>>33318815Lets roll out
Yusuf drives you to the edge of town, where the ruined mosque stands on the outskirts of the desert. There are no other buildings nearby and absent any other sources of light the area is lit only by the moon and stars. You tell Yusuf to stay in the car this time and step out to get a better a look at the Mosque. The murk seems to be concentrated here, you cannot sense anything at all but you can see several figures shambling about aimlessly outside the entrance. You can only guess at what awaits you within. What do you do?
>>33319105Turn yourself into mist and seep into the cracks.
>>33319229Yeah, if we can't sense them, they can't sense us...unless it's a one-way fog of war effect I guess.
>>33319229>>33319309You concentrate for a moment and let your physical body dissolve into mist, your clothes going up in flames as you do.You drift towards the church without being noticed and seep through the cracks in the wall. Now inside, you are able to sense three presences. Two relatively weak but one very strong. You also think there may be a living person in here somewhere but your mistform limits your perception. What do you do?
>>33319436Take out the weak ones first.
>>33319436Reform as close as we can, and rip and tear
>>33319468No, the strong one will be able to sense them die.In fact if we can sense him, he might sense us already.Take out the ancient one now before he alerts the others.
I've gotta head out for the rest of the evening. Thanks OP, see ya next time.
>>33319468>>33319600You reform your body in the most discreet corner you can find and take a look around now that you can actually see again. The two weaker vampires you sensed are clad in flowing hooded robes like monks, you cannot make out their features. They are knelt opposite each other quietly murmuring something over and over. They do not react to your presence. You cannot see the third, stronger member of the group, you presume he must be in the next room. Not willing to waste the opportunity, you dash over to the kneeling figures and strike at them with all your strength. Crushing ribcages and tearing heads from shoulders. Neither attempts to evade or fight back, they die with the same murmuring chant on their lips.Cautiously you make your way to the next room.At the rear of the main hall, framed by moonlight coming in from a collapsed section of the wall a crude throne has been erected. It is assembled from pieces of driftwood, bones, rifles, knives, an anchor and what appears to be part of a cannon. On the throne sits a skeleton with one half of its skull deliberately painted with blood. At the foot of the throne a man kneels before the skeleton. He rises and turns to face you as you enter. He is a tall, well-built man clad in rotting scraps of chainmail and leather, the faded remnants of a white cross on a black field can be seen on his surcoat. In one hand he holds a broadsword sheathed in a scabbard, which is in the same condition as his armour. What do you do?
>>33319917Has the murk lifted now that we killed the chanting ones?
>>33319917Why did Ankou send you here?
>>33319917Wait shit, take his sword. That might be anti-vampire weaponry.
>>33319917Throw furniture and stuff at the paladin. I don't think we want to be touched by that sword.
>>33320176It's still sheathed. You can steal it and toss it back in the other room before it's unsheathed.
>>33320010>Has the murk lifted now that we killed the chanting ones?Yes>Why did Ankou send you here? The undead warrior remains silent. He opens his mouth wide and you can see that he has no tongue. He could not speak to you if he wanted to.He unsheathes the sword from the scabbard, the blade is a corroded ruin that barely holds the shape of a sword, yet you sense in this man's hands it is dangerous. He holds the blade up in a salute before moving into a fighting stance and lunging at you with incredible speed.Roll to defend! (65+ succeeds)
>>33320392You manage to dodge his sword by a hairs breadth, moving faster than you ever have before. but you have no time to consolidate. The warrior attacks again and again from different angles at incredible speed, opening up cuts in your arms and shoulders, which thankfully quickly heal. You see an opening and shoulder barge into hime with your shoulder, sending him staggering back to the other end of the room. He regains his stance before you can take advantage however. He seems to glance to the skeleton on the throne and points the tip of his sword at the old spear wound in your chest before once again moving to attack. What do you do?
Rolled 78>>33320531Rip off his head.Destroy the throne idol.
>>33320550You lunge towards him, trying to seize his head and tear it off but he is too quick. He dances aside and lops off your extended arm at the elbow. You barely feel any pain and you can see your arm already starting to grow back, but it will take time which at the moment you do not have. What do you do?
>>33320724Steal the idol's skull.he obviously values it.
Rolled 73>>33320724Rolling to develop a new power to fite with
>>33320724Throw shit at him to knock him off balance
>>33320724Attempt to disarm him.
>>33320777>>33320826throw some of the throne bones at him?
We need to Mountain up.Let him stab us or get close and inflict some other serious wound, pretend it's more serious than it actually is then grab him and finish him off with our superior strength.
>>33320777*You sense a malign yet familiar presence emanating from the skeleton, touching it does not seem like a good idea*>>33320826You pick up various detritus from the floor around you and fling it at him, but he simply dodges everything you send his way. He is simply too fast and too skilled.>>33320958Absent any better options you leave yourself open to a thrust. Instantly picking up on the opportunity, the warrior lunges stabbing you through the heart with his sword. The pain is intense, but you remain on your feet and grab your assailants arm, wrenching his grip from the hilt of the sword, which you pull out of your chest with your free hand.So restrained, he is unable to prevent you from stabbing him through the heart with his own weapon, then tearing off his head.At first nothing happens, then his body glows and smoulders before exploding in a powerful burst of heat which blisters your skin. The sword dissolves into smoke with its master. Before the makeshift throne too catches ablaze, you hear Ankou's voice from the skeleton."You have done well to defeat one of my knights. Though his purpose here is done. You may tell my sister that my affairs here are concluded."At that the throne catches alight and the skeleton too is quickly engulfed....
>>33321205We should be able to sense the living human we thought we sensed earlier now, right.
>>33321205You head back to the car and tell Yusuf to drive you back to the hotel for some new clothes and to sleep for the day. After this struggle and exposure to the influence of other powerful vampires, you feel more in touch with your own nature. You get the sense that you can shape the essence of your undead state according to your own character rather than the other way round.****IMPORTANT CHOICE, WILL AFFECT WHAT ABILITIES YOU DEVELOP****What is the overriding feeling about what you have become?1. Regret - You regret the choices you have made and things you have done to reach this point and wish you could go back and change them.2. Shame - You are ashamed of the monstrous abomination you have become. You wish you could be something other than what you are.3. Anger - Of all the people in all the world living normal lives, the gods singled you out for this fate. Someone has to pay. What'll it be?(I'll write up the consequences of the choice as the finale for this part. So tired...)
>>33321433>RegretI sure regret not being there to vote against getting stabbed by a spear. Also sounds like time travel powers maybe.
>>33321433>1. Regret - You regret the choices you have made and things you have done to reach this point and wish you could go back and change them.
>>33321497>>33321639Your deep regret about how events have unfolded has found expression in the supernatural power that animates you. You have begun to define it rather than let it define you.***You have lost pestilence and mistform, psychic miasma's effect is greatly reduced******You have gained chronomancy, the power to manipulate time***Currently, you are able to use the following abilities. You may learn more as you grow more experienced.***Active Ability: Shadow Out of Time - You are able to step out of the flow of time and move around as you see fit whilst the rest of the universe is frozen between the ticks of the clock, stepping back in wherever you choose. You are unable to manipulate anyone or anything whilst outside time however.*** ***Active Ability: Unbound Action - You are able to store a physical action in a pocket of time (eg throwing a punch, stepping to oneside, taking a big leap etc) and summon it to the present moment whenever you choose. You can use this ability to do things that would otherwise be physically impossible***These abilties are unique to you as a 'progenitor' vampire and are a expression of your personality. Though should you create other vampires, they may begin to develop a less potent versions of your abilties.
>>33322171Fuck yeah chronomancy. Our price for this will most certainly be dire, I'm guessing.
>>33322171That's actually pretty cool.
Thats it for tonight folks, thanks for playing.I'll probably run the next part on tuesday or wednesday, will update twitter with specifics. As always feedback/comments welcome and an archive would be much appreciated
>>33322171>***You have lost pestilence and mistform,>you lost mistformnooooooooo
>>33322290Thank you for running!
>>33322323I'd trade 10 mistforms for time-dickery. 'shadow out of time' is way better anyhow.
>>33322323Why would that matter? We can freeze time, bursting into smoke is smalltime compared to that.
Just for your info.Shame = ShapeshiftingRage = Wrath of God type destructive shit. (this was Kassa's path)
>>33322374>>33322394Well, mist was very... efficient at feeding. You didn't have to see the blood or focus on what you were doing too much.Timestop is useful for dodging anyway, it's basically glorified teleport.
>>33322556We can probably feed while time is still, and even if that's not the case, there's tons more you can do while time is still than run away.
>>33322641>You are unable to manipulate anyone or anything whilst outside time however.***No there isn't. You can't even open doors or smash windows.
>>33322675Well, excuse me it looks like I forgot how to read. If we can train our power to do so then that'd be great.
>>33322725>IfWe weren't talkin bout wishful 'ifs' anon.
>>33322775Fine. I'll still think that time manipulation is a step up, even if we're rather limited right now.
>>33322831Plus, now every fight scene will be just like the japanese animes.>*teleports behind you*>*physically impossible attack move*
>>33322899/tg/ is better than that and they'd be more 'in your face' with the teleports, right guys?Right?
>>33322940>Implying we won't just stop time and strap them with a fuckload of explosives>detonate everything from a mile away
>>33322971And we still have to learn spacebending. Can't forget that.
>>33322504I am happy I didn't vote cause I'd have voted for rage, but time stuff is much better.>>33322556Well with time stop we could walk around a whole bunker, scouting it out and picking the best spot to show up, or we could read some documents and then walk back out without ever really going into the complex.Seems pretty useful.
2. Shame - You are ashamed of the monstrous abomination you have become. You wish you could be something other than what you are.
>>33325934HEY LOOK AT THIS FAGGOT! HE SHOWED UP OVER THREE HOURS LATE AND DIDN'T READ THE WHOLE THREAD!LET'S ALL POINT AT HIM AND LAUGH!
>>33326197It's actually what I get for letting my phone die, then having to wait to recharge it before I can post. But if you get a laugh out of it, go for it.
>>33326273nah, don't sweat it man, just thought it was a bit funny. don't forget, even if your phone dies, the world will keep turning without you. always remember to get up to date.
>>33326335You have no idea how many quests I've participated with using a phone. And how many times I've failed due to said phone. >_<
>>33326335Oh, and is it just me or did anyone else spot from the combat a turn or two in that Ankou was trying to figure out if we were actually Daddy dearest?
>>33326397He did say my sister and not our sister.
>>33326397In what way was he 'trying' to figure that out?By sitting there and being a spooky skeleton?
>>33326397If he stabs us in the heart and we don't die, he knows. If we do, we were just crazy. And stupid, for admitting it in public (for those who weren't here, people voted to rant about it).
>>33327605>He didn't die, even when you killed him...
