Christian earth Male25 years old
>>32636322>Jaeger>Means hunter>In hunter questCome on, This is why I left out a last name in the first place.
>>32636384Exactly. What's wrong with that?
>>32636224You are Robert "Bobby" Greaves. Age twenty four, but rough and grizzled. Your tormented past has aged you both mentally and physically. Most would think you were at least thirty years old.You are in Montana, not far from a large wilderness area spanning forty miles North to South. Campers have reportedly gone missing recently and you have set up shop at a local tavern in order to research and prepare for the hunt. The old tavern isn't popular as its off of a backwoods road. Only you, a couple on their honeymoon, and the barkeep are currently in the main dining hall.>Approach the couple and talk to them about the disappearances>Approach the barkeep and talk to them about the disappearances>Drink your beer and read your research journal and try to figure out what you were hunting without their info.

>>32636410>>32636467>>32636473You take one more sip of your beer before standing up from your table in the corner and crossing the room. You approach the barkeep and smile. The barkeeper is a mature woman, age forty at least. Still attractive in her own way. She is freckled with long brunette hair. She is wearing a simple black blouse and an apron as she wipes down the counters. She looks up at you and smiles back. "Can I help you?">Ask her directly about the disappearances>Smooth talk her then ask about the disappearances>Lie and tell her you are a Ranger investigating the disappearances >Make small talk
New to being a QM is it acceptable to bump ones thread?
>>32637022I don't see why not.>>32636701>Make small talk"Hey how is it going? I'm kind of new to the area would you know of any good spots to go sight seeing? I want to take in the wilderness while I'm here."
>>32636701>Smooth talk her then ask about the disappearances
I apologize for the delay. Had to step out for a moment. Will continue shortly.
>>32636701Smooth talk like smooth jazz before we go to the bumped up uglies
>>32637181>>32637285You put on your most convincing smile. "Hey how is it going? I'm kind of new to the area would you know of any good spots to go sight seeing? I want to take in the wilderness while I'm here." You say leaning against the bar. "However I'm quite worried, I've heard rumors of missing people in this area. Can you tell me anything about that?"The barkeeper smiles at you. "Hiking I gather? Or hunting?" She looked shocked by your curiosity towards the disappearances. "My son went missing on a camping trip with his friends a week ago. The rangers say they are looking but I've seen little evidence towards that." She poured herself a glass of whiskey and downed it."The only thing I can truly say is some hunters mentioned large wolf tracks or bear tracks in the woods." She smiled warmly again at you, reminding you of your own mothers smile.>Search your journal for info related to her tips>Question the couple>Continue to make small talk with the barkeep.
>>32638045>>Continue to make small talk with the barkeep.Hiking. Well if there's wolfs roaming the area. I may need to change my plans. But I'm sure your son with turn up. Kids have a habit of running off and showing up later.
>>32638045Keep up the small talk such as any ideas of what neck of the woods your son wondered by? Might swing down there to see if there just lost and wandering down the road. Damn werewolf we do have silver bullets, wolf's bane and other huntng materials right?
>>32638229>>32638211You nod with understanding. "I'll keep that in mind. Where did your son go camping? I might swing by and check out that area."The woman nodded and smiled. "Thank you. I just want to know if he's safe." She wrote down a phone number and handed it to you. "Call me if you find him." She hands you a small photo of a teenage boy after writing the info on the back. You make your way back to your seat and pull out your journal. Large dog like beasts to your knowledge included skin walkers or werewolves. You couldn't know which one until you either find a victims corpse, eye witness, or the beast itself. Good thing is though, both were vulnerable to silver.>head out to where the barkeepers son was last known to be>talk to the couple>wait till morning before heading out and enjoy your evening.
>>32638841>wait till morning before heading out and enjoy your evening. The light will be our friend.
>>32638841>do a quick check to see if a Wendigo, or anything else really, also fits our current criteria because i have seen the show
>>32638958>>32639114You decide to wait till morning before heading out. You decide to double check your notes tonight for anything you might have overlooked. Seeing no other beasts with canine like tracks you decide you have seen enough and go to your room. As the night gets later you lay your tired head down and look out the bedroom window. The moon wasn't full. You lay in bed afraid to sleep, the dreaded nightmares of your own psychosis keep you awake. Suddenly there is a knock on your door. After peering through the peep hole you see it's the bartender. She looks nervous as she waits.>open the door and greet her>open the door and invite her in>talk to her through the door > ignore her and go back to bed
>>32639461>open the door and greet her
>>32639608>>32639679You open the door and look at her. She looks up at you, surprised that you had answered the door so late at night. "Hey..." She says quietly. "You got me thinking about my son and I got lonely...and..." She trailed off. She smelt like liquor, whether that was due to her being a bartender or she had been drinking you weren't quite sure but you assumed the ladder. "You are drunk." You simply said. She chuckled and pushed her way inside walking slowly around the room she had rented you. Then she simply threw herself onto your bed and turned to look at you. Her blouse almost slipping off her freckled shoulder as she smiled at you. "Come keep me company..." She said in a seductive whisper. You feel your basic human instinct of lust.>go to her and have intercourse with her>throw her out of your room and sleep, you have a long day ahead of you
>>32639885Can we go for a middle ground? Keep her company without doing something she'll regret in the morning?
>>32640062You can always suggest an alternative. You guys have freedom.
>>32640062+1 to this
>>32640062You sigh and walk over to the bed and sit on the edge, a comfortable distance. "You don't want to do this. Not with a guy like me." You say with a heavy heart. You tried to avoid attachments with those you tried to help. "Tell me about your son instead."She looks at you blankly and hugs her legs close to herself. She begins to tell you about the average thing a mother would tell you about their son. Bout everything he's good at. She and you converse until she falls asleep on your bed.You choose to rest in the chair across the room and soon you are awoken by the suns first light. She has already left your room and you stand. Your muscles ache from sleeping in a chair and so you begin to stretch. You finish and stare out the window. It was overcast and grey, fog was rolling in. It was time to go.>check your equipment and head out>head out as fast as you can>other?
>>32640318>check your equipment and head outGrab a bit to eat and then to the woods we go.
>>32640411After grabbing breakfast you say your good byes to the bartender. Neither of you mention the night before, perhaps she was embarrassed. You open the backseat of your beat up car. You push the backseat down and a hidden hatch opens up revealing your gear. You grab your standard rifle, your trusty revolver sidearm, a silver knife and silver bullets for both guns. Setting everything else aside you get into the drivers seat and leave. You follow the crudely drawn directions you had acquired on the back of the photo and find the end of the road. There was another car there, covered in dirt and leaves, abandoned for at least a week. You gather this is the boys car. Getting out of your car you shoulder your rifle and holster your revolver. The mist was becoming thicker around the large trees ahead of you. You would have to continue on foot.>enter the tree line>hang back and form a plan>other?
>>32640809>hang back and form a planThis mist will be a problem.... hm. Grab a few rags and what not to make a torch or some flash lights. We can use this to draw attention and make a trap. Not sure what else. But we have our weapons and skills. Lets hope that will do.
>>32641122You grab a backpack and fill it with the following.>flashlight>rations>medical kit>compass>map>a lighter>ragsPlan accordingly or enter the woods
>>32641689>Plan accordinglyWe need to not rush into the wilds. It's our smarts that will win the day.
>>32641983You stare at the tree line and shoulder your pack and rifle. Your mind mentally begins to form a plan. It was a skin walker, you were almost positive. There was no full moon since last month, the chances of it being a werewolf were slim. Skin walkers were shape shifters that usually took the form of a large dog, though in this case chances were it was a large wolf or a bear. They were still human when it came to intelligence though, a basic wolf or bear trap wouldn't work. You would have to track the beast down and hunt it like any other wild animal. Basically you had to hunt the hunter. With no bait other then yourself and no back up. This was going to be a difficult task, especially in the mist.
>>32642220Woops left out the last few lines. The only options now were>wait for the mist to clear, which could take hours or even days>be cautious and make your way into the forest
>>32642281>be cautious and make your way into the forest... It's not a smart move. But if there is a chance to save the boy and the other campers it's to do it now. I just hope we don't break the compass.
This quest is moving much slower and doesn't seem to be getting much attention. Is the subject just not popular? Am I doing something wrong? I'd love to hear feedback since this is my first Quest thread I'm QMing for.
>>32642500It's happened to me a few times when I have done mine as well. I have seen world of darkness on /tg/ a few times. So the subject I believe is fine. As for doing something wrong ... Nothing of the top of my head. For the most part it could be the fact that there is a lot of quest going on right now. So the people are probably in those right now.... Probably something I'm missing. But that's all I can give at this moment.
>>32642701I got some feedback from the quest thread general. I'm hoping people will gain interest once an actual hunt begins like...now?
>>32642754We will see what happens.
>>32642387>Gonna try to improve my story telling from here on out as the hunt actual begins and we got all the "boring" stuff done. Wish me luck! With one last sigh, stretch, the cracking of knuckles, back, and neck you set off into the woods. After walking maybe five minutes you are completely surrounded in the deep fog, able to see maybe ten feet ahead of you. The cool overcast air causes your hair to stand on end as you push your way past the thick evergreen trees. Dry pine needles scratch your arms and prickle your fingers. All you can hear is your breathing, some birds, and the crackling of dead leaves and branches as you hike through the woods. There was no sign of trail, but there was signs that people had moved through the woods in this fashion. After hiking perhaps a mile through the forest the mist began to thin enough that you could see a clearing ahead. Fresh smoke was coming from a fire pit and there was a trashed tent laying lopsided. Closer inspection shown the fabric was torn and bloodied and a hand was visible sticking out from a large hole in the side. It was relaxed, the hand of someone dead. You move forward cautiously into the clearing looking around you. There were no signs of movement or life anywhere as far as you could see. Making your way to the tent you discover a mutilated corpse of a teenage boy. He however looked too muscular and built to be the son of the barkeeper. His body was fresh, slight signs of decay and maggots could be seen and the smell of decaying flesh was light. Blood still dripped out of the large gash in his side. He had been torn apart, various chunks of flesh were missing from the pale eyed corpse. There were no other signs of survivors but there was something that caught your eye immediately. Animal tracks like that of the barkeeper described. They led deeper into the woods past a thick layer of underbrush. What do you do?
>>32643351Agreed >>32643075Follow the tracks.
>>32643521>>32643351After one last scour through the campsite you determine nothing more here will help you. You follow the tracks to the underbrush and notice a tuft of grey rough hair. After careful inspection you determine it to be in fact the coat of a wolf. You make your way through the underbrush and continue to follow the tracks as quietly and quickly as you can.Another mile or so of hiking through the fog, blindly following the tracks. If you hadn't brought your compass you surely would be lost and without a way out of the forest. It wasn't long until you found yourself at a stream. Across the stream you could see the tracks continuing up a steep hill into the mist. Before you can cross though you notice something else. There are a second set of tracks that meet up with the first set and follow it up the hill. Two skin shifters? That made this job that much more difficult. You cross the river and follow the tracks for another couple of hours. Whoever these Skin Shifters were they covered ground quickly. Then to your surprise you exit the treeline back to where you parked your car. The tracks led back out of the forest, and the "deserted" car was gone. What do you do?
>>32643895Look around where the car was for any signs of movement from the car or tracks around it.
>>32643895Crap need to learn to plant bombs. >>32644059Agreed. Then we have to try into town and hope to see the car.
>>32644059Confused as you were you do notice the animal tracks have shifted into human footprints leading towards where the car used to be. They had left the forest, perhaps a tip off, or perhaps it was normal procedure. You notice the tire tracks in the dirt lead up the road back the way you came, towards the Tavern. You ponder this, it would be impossible to track the car without help from the authorities, and that would be something you wanted to avoid. Staying out of the law's radar was a hunter's top priority besides saving lives. However the road only led one direction and it was a long distance to the main highway. It would be difficult for them to have gone far. Throwing your gear into your car you start up the engine and sit staring out the window at the treeline. Something wasn't right. What do you do?
>>32644317See if the car is anywhere we can drive by.
>>32644317Look for fresh tire tracks.
>>32644317>>32644446You kick your car into gear and follow the fresh tire tracks in the dirt back up the road towards the tavern. Your mind was swimming with confusion and trying to find the answer. The following occurred to you.If there was a pair of skin walkers, there was a pair of human form identities tied close together, probably family members or close friends. This leads you to believe there were three following situations. One, the married couple on their honeymoon was just a cover up identity. Two, the Barkeeper and her son were skin walkers. Three there were a pair of two skin walkers he had not met recently and they were not far from him or the tavern where innocent people were staying. You aren't far from the Tavern, only a couple of miles. What do you do?
>>32644638Think over the situation more carefully. There's a whole town, and we shouldn't go pointing fingers at people who just so happened to be in the bar at the same time as us. Besides, the bartender runs a business that sees a lot of traffic. She's too busy to be a skinwalker. So, start a suspect list. Put the couple and the bartender/son on there to be safe. And then, we meet the fine folks of wherever we are.
>>32644638Main goal will be the car.If it's at the bar we limit the search a lot. We can then camp there and wait. If it's not do a pass thru town.
50 cents on the honeymooners
>>32644767>>32644700>>32644638Deciding to only stop by the Tavern to search for the car you head that way, quite quickly. You didn't want to lose track of them by wasting time searching the tavern. Driving past you saw no abandoned looking beat up car that matched what you were looking for. You sighed with relief, that meant they weren't in danger, he hoped, and that the people staying there weren't on his subject list. Pulling out of the parking lot you headed into town. The town was small, population thirty five with only one shopping center which only really had the bare necessities. A butcher, a grocer, and a convenient store. Whoever lived in this town didn't mind driving or didn't live there year round. It didn't take long to discover the car in question wasn't in town either. Deciding to backtrack through town to make sure you didn't miss anything you stopped when you saw it. The car was in a junk lot behind the only mechanic shop. Stepping out of your car you approach the man minding the shop."Hello there." He said with a smile. "What can I do for you?""Who dropped that car off here?" You say simply. There was no time to beat around the bush."Why a young man did...barely old enough to drive I would say. When I was his age I wouldn't trade in my car for anything in the world. Say that's him there." He said pointing at the photo you were given by the bartender. "Nice fellow, just ran off back up the street though. Didn't say his name."What do you do?
>>32645095a small town with only 35 people and he doesn't know who the bartender's kid is? ether they are new in town or he is lying would be my guess.
>>32645095... shit they either stole his skin or the mother liked us to much to kill us.>>32645147O dam this would be a problem as well. To wait and see what happens or hit the bar and see what the mother is doing ...
>>32645176....I feel like an idiot, I had forgotten/didn't think of what a skinwalker could do.
>>32645095I got it give the mother a call we have her number if I remember right. If she starts talking about her son being back we can go from there. We would need to listen to her voice carefully. It could be the mechanic and the other skin walker are working together. Maybe planing to take the bar or the couple in it last night. I feel I'm over thinking this.>>32645216All good with me. I didn't think about what you said >>32645147 . Team work pays off big time.
>>32645314>>32645095Confronted with a choice of heading straight back to the tavern or making a plan first you decide to take a minute and think. After a moment you take out your phone and call the phone number the woman had given you. After two rings she answered."Hello?" She said in a normal voice."Hello." You simply reply back. "Oh hello there." There is a pause before she speaks again. "Did...did you find my son?"You think to yourself then smile. "Yes, I think so. I'll bring him to you." You simply hang up the phone and sit in your car quietly. After a moment it begins to drizzle, the soft thumping of rain on your window shield calms you as you start your engine. You drive up the road and pull into the parking lot. Only your car remains in the parking, the honeymooning couple is no longer there. You clutch your revolver, the smooth wooden handle feeling at home in your hand. You walk up to the tavern and you slowly open the front door. Alone in the dimly let bar area is the woman, quietly polishing glass. She stops and looks up at you as you close the door behind you. She eyes the gun in your hand nonchalantly and smiles in her warm mother like way."I thought you might be a hunter." She puts the glass down. "Care for a drink?" She takes the whiskey bottle and sits in a chair."Where is your son?" You say quietly."Gone. Off to find a new life in safety with that happy couple." She looks sadly at you. "We aren't monsters. He had to eat, to feed. We must once a month. I'm only protecting my son like any other mother would." She stood up. "Why don't you just leave us be.""He killed someone...you did too I bet." You growl. You cock back your revolvers hammer with a click and point it at her. "I'm sorry.""So am I." She says then in a blink of an eye shifts into a large wolf and snarls charging at you.
>>32646199>that's it for tonight. Gotta run. Sorry I'm leaving it on such a cliff hanger but I gather starting back up again tomorrow with combat should be exciting to potential new people
