Listen, my friends, to the legend of the Bionicle. Long ago, in the time before time, the Great Spirit Mata Nui descended like a burning star from the heavens. We were separate and without purpose, so the Great Spirit gave us the masks we need to survive and illuminated us with the Three Virtues: Unity, Duty, and Destiny. We embraced these gifts, and we named our home Mata Nui, after the Great Spirit, for without his guidance we would have been lost. Our happiness was not to last. Makuta, Mata Nui's shadow, grew jealous of the honors we gave the Great Spirit. He cast Mata Nui into a deep slumber, and darkness came over the land. The once-peaceful Rahi rampage, and travel between the Koro has become increasingly dangerous- Matoran who leave the villages alone disappear. But there is still hope. An ancient prophecy tells of heroes destined to awaken Mata Nui. The Toa, warriors wielding the strength of the elements, will appear in our time of need to protect the Matoran and vanquish Makuta. --- Welcome to Bionicle Quest! Please be gentle with me. The Quest proper begins next post, with character creation. Most decisions will be reached by consensus within a specified amount of time, although I may ask you to roll for certain combat actions. This quest will (mostly) take place on the island of Mata Nui, ie Bionicle 2001.
The ocean laps at the metal walls of your canister. You can hear seabirds, although their sound is muffled. Ancient mechanisms shriek in protest at being awoken from what, judging by the rust, appears to be years of disuse and begin to grudgingly click. A popping sound heralds the appearance of a circle of light overhead. The sun glares into your light-starved eyes. The clicking stops, and you are flung unceremoniously onto a beach. Several small crabs scuttle away. One of your arms nearly crushed them. You feel woozy. Of course you do; pieces of you are strewn around on the sand. You aren't quite sure how you know what goes where, but you slowly piece yourself together. The more of yourself you reassemble, the more you feel like... yourself. You slap the last piece, a mask, onto your face, and the dizziness disappears. You start to remember more about yourself.
You remember...---Your Name: (The name that is yours.)Your Gender: (I will not be abiding by the element-gender boundaries, since a. They have at least one canonical exception (Psionics guy whatshisname) and b. I want more variety and won't be pulling rule 63 on any major characters. Also c. I expect tg to try to play as a little girl and that shouldn't restrict element choices.)Your Elemental Affinity: (The element you control. This determines armor color. Elemental control usually allows a Toa to manipulate existing quantities of an element, absorb existing quantities of an element, and create quantities of that element. I say usually because certain powers (such as Psionics) can't really create/destroy. Selectable Elements include Fire, Water, Earth, Air, Stone (totally not earth), Lightning, Ice, and Sonics. Elements that may not be chosen include Shadow, Light, Gravity, Time and anything else broken or Legendary, at my discretion. Feel free to submit others.)Your Toa Tool(The weapon you use to focus your power. Stick to melee weapons for now.)
>>32042855Alright, I'll bite and get my hopes up.Name: (I'll get back to this.)Gender: Girl (You can't call us out on the little girl thing dammit!)Affinity: Earth (Dammit, now I've got Toph the Toa stuck in my head.)Tool: Halberd? I'm trying to think of something different from the normal Toa. I know the light guy had a spear, but other than that I don't think any of them had something with length to it.
>>32042855man.. I really want to join but I have no idea on how to get a username and all that.. And I would totally have made a sonic toa too.. wielding a hollow staff that amplified the sonic powers
>>32042855name: tūmataiti (a Māori word dealing with privacy and ANONYMITY)>>32042993Gonna support this guy on gender and affinityTool: Kanoka Disk launcher
>>32042993Not same anon, but following on it.Name: HexariGender: FemaleAffinity: StoneTool: Drill spear
>>32043065Nice name, but >>32042855>Stick to melee weapons for now
>>32043079Damn, then put my vote in for a tool like >>32043072
>>32043072Hmm, maybe an extendable hilt so it can act as sword and spear?
>>32043065Kanoka are kinda hard to get on Mata Nui. I guess you could use bamboo discs?
>>32043149The matoran thrwew them around al the time against the rahiI recall distinctly how the final battle of the MNOG required their use>>32043120yes this is good
>>32043120how about a secondary shovel/spade which can be used seperatly, or attached to extend the reach of the drill.... also good for that one game which I forget the name of......Also, we using some of the movies for references, or that old flash game...
>>32043192Kholisince the movie takes place further down the timeline that the OP defines this quest, I'm not sure. But I don't think people will object too much to drawing on both.
>>32043192That might work. Some kind of precision tool to go with our Big Drill Sword that can attach giving us reach.Still, Important question here: Earth or Stone? I think Earth would give us more maneuverability but Stone would probably give us more raw power. Course, I'm just guessing.
>>32042855>Elemental AffinityStone>Your Toa ToolI kinda want to have a blunted hammerhead mask that we headbutt stuff with, Headbanger and/or Bohrok style. I'm ambivalent to everything else.
>>32043192I'm going off of memory and checking things with BS01, which has basically everything. I think BZP still has the Ask Greg threads archived; I'll read through those later.
>>32043243Stone makes more sense with the drillblade thing, since we would be living with underground miners.
>>32043243Stone lets you do crazy combos (kicking one stone to capitalize on the microscopic fractures in other formations to cause a massive tumbling action to smite shit) but the powers are more niche, earth is a little more versatile. And onu-koro is way cooler than po-koro
>>32043279Stone lived in po-wahi, which was above ground and in a desert.Earth was the subterranean one.
>>32043279Except, I think it was the Earth guys who lived underground, while the Stone ones lived inthe wastes/desert part.
>>32043299>>32043312My mistake. Earth then.
>>32043256this dude. I want Toa Hed-ban'gar to wreck shit by punching it with his head
>>32043327Seconded, drill are for digging.
I say we go earth as earth was always more excavating while Stone often done engravings and sculptures.....also, God Damn it, now I have to find my VHS player to watch the Bionicle movies again... though It will be glorious....
>>32043243Hexari sounds a bit sci-fi. The differences between Earth and Stone:Physically, Earth is less solidified protodermis (except when it isn't) and more closely associated with the underground. Stone is hard solidified protodermis (except when it isn't) and associated with canyons, mountains, and deserts. Philosophically, Earth is more passive, with a bent towards reclusiveness. Earth is wise and slow, and values the past (Onu-Matoran Archivists). Stone is strong and hard, occasionally to the point of being unyielding.
>>32043256By stone I meant Earth. Made the same mistake as this guy >>32043279. I just want to be a miner who mines rocks with his face and maybe has a pet crab.
>>32043415Alright, so we'll go with >>32043065>tūmataitithen, unless someone can come up with something else.Hmm, I kinda like the Stone personality better, but I like Earth's other stuff more.
>>32043481It might be wise to play with the spelling abit though to make a more functional nameAll the 2001 bionicle names were Māori words, but the spelling in some of them was changed around
For names, etc, consider this: http://www.bzpower.com/story.php?ID=6272
>>32043481Personalities aren't set in stone. Canon has insecure Toa of Fire, brash Toa of Water (although that might have just been the Hordika venom), and depressed Toa of Air (Lesovikk). >>32043017I have a personal soft spot for Toa of Sonics. Lego Magazine had an article on Krakua and I thought the idea was the best thing ever, so I gave my own personal Toa the element of Sonics.
>>32043415This makes Stone more interesting, but I I don't want the little hero-robot-girl in stone's traditional crappy brown.>>32043557How about a gratuitous additional h to make it Tumahti?
>>32043574well come on. Toa of Sound just slips off the tongue.. It just feels right. Maybe have him/her be some crazy musician that hears music in everything. Let him or her be the jokester of the team. What sorta instruments do mata nui have?
>>32043646>Toa of SoundI know what we can use as our Toa Tool, too.
>>32042855Toa of VenomSpray Cans
>>32042249>set before the arrival of the original Toa>Matoranit's Tohunga, youngling.
>>32043626Tumahti sounds nice. Plus, we can go Earth, but slightly non-traditional. Might get us some nice RP when we bump heads with the Earth Elder.
>>32043695Bells dont fuck around, sonhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2uilaYkmVFM&t=30s
>>32043761well I do enjoy the mental image of a toa running//jumping around and smacking Makuta and minions with a pair of giant bells
>>32042855Hey, don't we get to pick our mask power?
>>32043810It would be better to wait until we know what the fuck we are before we do that.
>>32043761What about something like this?
>>32043857We could compromise and dual wield two bell maces instead of one bell hammer.
>>32043810Not yet. >>32043715Wwwwwell, Naming Day was dumb! (Seriously.) And the Toa are in the process of arriving and and it would just make everybody confused and stuff. It was totally a conscious decision on my part. Hmph. >>32043725Whenua's pretty cool. Onewa, on the other hand, can be kind of a dick.
>>32043935Hmm, I think you might want to call for a quick vote between the Sound and Earth powers so we can move on. I think Earth's winning, but I want the Sound guys to have a fair shot at it.
So it's looking like you will be Tumahti, a female Toa of Stone, Earth, or Sonics wielding an extendable drillswordspear or bell or bells, unless you decide to change everything, which you might.
I vote for earth, fuck sonics.
>>32044239are we only going with one toa? I thought we were going to have like a team
>>32044268They'll probably be a team, but this is a Quest. So we all play the one Toa we create. On that note,>>32044146My vote's for Earth with the Extendable DrillSwordSpear
element: MagnetismFuck the haters. Toa Magneto will be awesome
>>32044411Huh. I had forgotten Magnetism when I first replied with Toph the Toa, but I honestly want to move on at this point.
>>32044322I'm pretty hyped about all this.
>>32044146earthy drillspear or bust
ok then guess i will join inName VordonGender MaleAffinity IceTool Saw Blade
>>32044411I'll say Magnetism or Sound. Just so we can have a nice exotic element.
Earthy Drillspear seems to have won out. I'll start writing the next bit; it shouldn't take long.
>>32044746what sorta weapon would a magnetic using toa use? A giant magnet?
>>32044765I dunno. Captain America's Shield perhaps?
>>32044765They would probably use their enemies' weapons (and bodies).
>>32044765Could simply be a large metal pole that you can magnetise one end or the other and make it so the thing your hitting or the thing behind it is the oppisite polarity
>>32044804more like Captain Nui
>>32044826Oh gods. Chronicler, if you haven't decided on other Toa for this quest yet, I implore you to use something like this.
>>32044819I could imagine him/her to jump around, making the enemies magnetic and thereby attracting each others punches/attacks all while making himself/herself demagnetise in order to deflect attacks.
>>32044765I sorta pictured giant fists that get bigger with the metal that piles up. Though I've seen cool stuff done with bats.
>>32044765A small sack filled with iron nails, which he shoots at his enemies.A spiked iron ball he is able to manipulate in-air due to his magnetic powers.Tons of iron shavings, which are used to make devastating abrasive attacks.Tetanus shots.
>>32044852Man magnet toa would be uber zen and passive i'd imagine. Master of using other people's attacks against them
>>32044866>>32044853>>32044852>>32044824man Captain Nui is sounding awesome
>>32044889Too awesome for PCmake him one of the party instead.
>>32044889Utter bro tier NPC if he ever shows up.
I'd be up for Captain Nui to be total zen and bro-like. Maybe slightly mentor-ish?
>>32044848This is actually a great idea, anon. The votes that didn't make it could totally be other Toa. We could have the sonic bell user and Captain Nui as two of our fellow Toa buddies.Hell, make the Bell Toa the water one ever so s/he can do crazy echolocation shit with them.
>>32044746Seconding Sound. Or if not, Electricity.
>>32044957I'm totally imagining post awakening Sing from Kung Fu Hustle. Beating enemies and then friending them into submission. >I can teach you if you like.
>>32042855>AirFuck the haters, Leafspeak is the shit. Plus, Le-Koro is fucking awesome.
>>32044957He should be the Toa version of Snoop Dogg
>>32045012Shit, I don't even remember how leafspeak works, that was like 13 years ago. Isn't it like the Bionicle version of Tonto-speak?
>>32045029I know nothing of Snopp Dogg to say anything.. except I am pretty sure he is called Snoop Lion these days
>>32045012Captain Nui should be air. Floating around on his shield-turned-hoverdisc, being all zen and shit until its time to beat some faces in.
>>32045034>Not wanting to spend your days just chilling and playing music

>>32045057nah brah. Captain Nui is the toa og magnetism. He can demagnetise his shield to use it like Static did.. or something like that
>>32045057What if that's his mask power? The Ability to fly and hover?>>32045055When he's rapping he's still Dogg
>>32045055>I am pretty sure he is called Snoop Lion these dayshttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lt5AjdduuCg
>>32045076of* >>32045086I haven't even thought of his masks power.. inspiring courage in his fellow toas?
>>32045076Thats what I meant. Static style magnet shield flight while chillin with the leafbros.
>>32045086Yeah his mask was that of Levitation. Which does mean he gets to essentially fly and never fall hard.
You are Tumahti. That's all you can come up with. You pick up the last thing that flew out of with you, a thin grooved metal cone (maybe you'll find somewhere to attach it later? For now, it'll serve as a weapon) and climb atop the beached canister to survey your surroundings. The beach you landed on is small. There are cliffs beside you, and a natural trail leads up to the jungle. Seabirds wheel overhead. There doesn't seem to be anything dangerous around, although there might be something in the water. Ugh. It's not like you want to go in there anyway. The jungle ahead beckons. The idea is silly, but it seems like fate is pulling you straight ahead. [ ] Climb rocks; why not take the hard way up?[ ] Enter the jungle. Something might be calling you...[ ] Jump in the water. Actually, no. That seems like a horrible idea.
>>32045181climb the rocks. Build up that strength

>>32045181>[ ] Climb rocks; why not take the hard way up?GIT STRONK
Sonic Bells and Captain Mata are interesting ideas. If this quest reaches Metru Nui, we might run into other Toa.

>>32045622Gotta agree with you there.
>>32045643My tablet doesn't come in until 2 weeks. Thanks Amazon!
[x] Climb rocks. The cliff is actually a slight overhang, but you climb it as easily as you walk. You seem to know instinctively just where to put your fingers and the exact amount of weight each rock will hold. You skip handholds and even try climbing backwards for a while. The cliff is surprisingly tall; the trees you saw from the beach were actually enormous. At about a third of the way up, you run into a ledge of weak rock. You push yourself away from the rock face, hook your fingers onto the edge of the ledge, and swing up and over the obstacle, giving it just enough force to send it down. It feels pretty good. You land back on the cliff face and look down just in time to watch the former ledge crash into the ocean. The spray almost reaches you. Down on the remnants of the ledge lies a gray mask, kind of like the one you have on. You could try to grab it and head up, or you could just continue up the cliff face. [ ] Try to grab the mysterious mask. It'll take up a hand, but that's no problem for you. [ ] Forget it. Let's go explore some other stuff.
>>32045664>quality fanart>2014It's like you don't even have a crappy drawing program. Just use paint

>>32045738I think most of the people here were talking about the mask of levitation/flightPersonally I would rather give him some mask that would amplify his magnetic powers
>>32045738Hau for maximum shielding
>>32045738Captain Nui? A Lhikan-style Hau
>>32045679>forget itIts as if you people don't remember the infected kanohi?
>>32045786its still a shiny just becuse we have it dose not mean we have to put it on GRAB IT!
>>32045679>[ ] Try to grab the mysterious mask. It'll take up a hand, but that's no problem for you.
>>32045786Oooh ooh ooooh I remember those!
>>32045786It's like you don't even want to become the badass Dark Toa of Mata Nui.
>>32045841we could do this.. We could rule all of Mata Nui..Even if your mask isn't infected
>>32045679Take the mask, obviously.
>>32045679>[X] Try to grab the mysterious mask. It'll take up a hand, but that's no problem for you.
>>32045786Infected masks are not inert grey.
>>32045924So masks are gray when they aren't worn? Phew. I was worried.... Though then again. I wonder what other gray masks we could be grabbing? My hopes are pic related.
>>32045970Yeah, all masks are just a dull flat grey when not worn. The color of the protodermis they are made from. It's the rusty-looking masks you have to watch out for.
>>32042855oh also bit late on a weapon idea but what about a chakram sence we use Magnetism we can just pull the weapon back to were hand once we throw it
>>32046056Dood.. shield/chakram could work
>>32046056well... WE are an earth toa actually... the Magnet toa was just a bunch of hype that got spun off on the side.
>>32046132hey.. Captain Nui is not hype. If anything we are underhyping him. He is that awesome
[ ] Try to grab the mysterious mask. It'll take up a hand, but that's no problem for you. Retracing your path down, you reach for the mask and hook it with your foot. You pull it up to your hand. A bit of rust flakes off. Before you can investigate further, the entire cliff face crumbles into the ocean. As you fall, you notice marks from a flat stone tool behind the rocks. It looks like somebody went to a whole lot of trouble to booby-trap this mask's location, even raising an entire false cliff face to do so. What a dick. On the plus side people have lived here before, and you have a new mask. On the other side, you are falling off a cliff. Wat do?[ ]Resign yourself to cold wet fate and just try thinking about making the cliff not fall. You'll survive (made of metal), but it'll hurt. Oh, and you might drown. [ ]Try running up the falling rocks. It'd be totally badass and, with your mad rock-climbing skills, actually possible. >>32046392>A bit of rust flakes off.Yeah I agree with you dawg... But maybe that was just for atmosphere.Again to not put it on would be a little... metagamey. However... >>32046454Well, we don't actually have a reason to put it on do we?Do we instinctively know that the masks grant us powers? Heck, do we even know what mask we're wearing in the first place?
Infected Kanohi can be cured right?
>>32046280>[ ]Try running up the falling rocks. It'd be totally badass and, with your mad rock-climbing skills, actually possible.

>>32046574That might be a little active for someone associated with Earth... But then again. It could be awesome.
>>32046632Fuck. I was thinking stone. Ahem never mind Earth is still strong enough to do stuff like that.
>>32046684Honestly, the stone/earth dichotomy was wonky as fuck though. So no real damage done. Just do what comes natural.
>>32046780Uh, no, that was him calling for a vote to decide one of the three, I'm pretty sure.
>>32046735There was no stone/earth dichotomy, only a stone/earth distinction. The relevant dichotomies were stone/water and earth/air.>fuck yeah, got my nitpick of the day in
>>32046814Oh you are right. Deleting post then. best not confuse things further.
>>32046814what won in that vote? It was either Earth or stone.
>>32046873Earth. Stone only got mentioned earlier because people got the two mixed up. Ironically, no one voted Sonic, instead Captain Nui got generated instead.
>>32046735Thanks. Since the prior sequence makes less sense with earth, earth's ideology isn't binding, /tg/ likes brown girls, and earth and stone have similar power sets, I think I'll stick with stone. If I get an overwhelmingly negative response, I'll move it to earth. >>32046824Fuck yeah, somebody remembered!
>>32046978Honestly, I kinda prefer Earth's appearance over Stone. It IS what we voted for after all.
>>32046978honestly don't care whatever you think is best
>>32046978I prefer earth to stone. More useful, and the color scheme is less UPS.
>>32046978Although, if we do stick to Earth and you want to justify the Rock running thing, We are a recently awakened, and kinda young?, Toa. We've probably got some energy to burn.
>>32047125Yeah I prefer earth as well, plus, as mentioned, the personalities don't always sync up to elements. You can be an adventurous earth Toa rather than a bookworm.
>>32046978I'd rather keep Earth, Stone is nice being stronger and stuff, but what matters really is that Stone makes us crappy brown whereas Earth means pimp pure black mask. That and going with earth usually being calm and rational makes for a change from the usual action hero character.
[ ] Run up falling rocks1/2 (Part 2 in a minute or so)You swivel in midair, planting your drillspear into the cliff face and pushing off it with your hands to get airborn. You land on a rock across from you, snag the drillspear, and run straight up. When you reach the top of that rock, you spring up to the next one. You can move pretty fast, but you can't move faster than the rocks fall, at least not while also fighting gravity one-handed - and the rocks are running out. You try to figure out what to do, and your concentration breaks. Your left foot lands on a rock made slippery by the spray, and you plummet towards the water. --- Astute questers may have guessed our mask power. (It's broken)
>>32047276Pretty much this. Plus it doesn't totally invalidate the rock climbing thing...
Earth it is.
>>32047305Im guessing speed or time?

>>32047607Time always seemed kinda wonky. You could slow down time, but you'd be slowed down too though.

[x] Fight. You level your drillspear in a hopefully menacing way. The creature's forearm snaps out- directly into your drillspear's tip. If you're lucky, it'll hurt itself and back off. You don't really want to kill it. It's got metal and toughened skin there. Of course it does. Your handhold is good, but the impact is enough to stun you, and you drop a few feet before your foot catches in a perfectly shaped notch that you could have sworn wasn't there earlier. You grip the drillspear tightly with both hands. The creature strikes again, but this time you have the presence of mind to dodge the blow. Its arm lodges in a crevice. It turns its other arm towards you. Your back is, quite literally, to the wall. The mysterious mask fell into the water the first time you were hit, and, while you regret its loss, your survival is more important. If this thing knocks your mask off, you could fall and drown... assuming it doesn't eat you first.
>>32048606Whats our choices here? are we waiting for more story stuff? I say we try and spear the thing's mask off... its right at the base of its head? right?
Your back is to the wall, you've got nothing to stand on, and that's enough puns for today. [ ] Run up. You can't take this thing in a fight. If it hunts by ambush and stuns its prey, how fast can it be?[ ] Drop down. Your back is to the wall and you haven't got a thing to stand on. Maybe you can grab the mask and swim away. [ ] Fight. One good blow to the head might stun it long enough for you to escape or kill it. [ ] Write-in.
>>32048713Run up the wall and spear the thing in the head with your metal pole!
>>32048713>[ ] Run up. You can't take this thing in a fight. If it hunts by ambush and stuns its prey, how fast can it be?Much as I wanted to fight this thing, trying to do it on a cliff side, probably isn't the best idea.
does anyone around has a link to that bionecle game that was around? a browser rpg, with turn based combat
ha ha ha dont talk about bionicles or I will hack you
>>32048713>[ ] Fight. One good blow to the head might stun it long enough for you to escape or kill it.
>>32048776Didn't know there was a browser RPG... But I did find that one Bionicle Point and click adventure. I'm playing through it right now. http://web.archive.org/web/20061110102938/http://www.lego.com/eng/bionicle/games/matanuiOnline1.aspx
>>32049149it's the voya nui adventure, found it herehttp://web.archive.org/web/20061107110248/http://club.lego.com/eng/login/bionicle/kanoka/voyaNuigamelogin.asp?target_url=http://www.lego.com/eng/bionicle/voyaNui/voyaNui.aspx§ion=voyanui
>>32049196Huh, i thought the voya nui game was more about the Piraka being Piraka and some weird puzzle stuff.. This is neat I might give it a try. Did they ever do anything for the Metru Nui Arc?
>>32049365I don't think so. Also, tiebreaker? What kind of personality are you guys (or girls (or people of nonstandard gender) leaning towards?
>>32049395Hmm, I'd like at least a little brash (Maybe cause we're young?) but I respect the Anon who wanted us to have a calmer protagonist than normal for /tg/
>>32049395well we have not done enugh to establish a personality yet so lets wait and see
>>32049395Don't forget us robots trapped in the body of a man. and... I dunno. We seem pretty casually adventurous so far. Not like "FUCK YEAH LETS PUNCH THAT MOUNTAIN" and more like "Oh Look! A Penny" right after we Got to the top of a mountain. Though honestly we should aim for our social actions to define our personality perhaps.
>>32049452What This Lizard Said.
So we have a run up that's actually a fight, two run ups, and two fights. Alright. Going to write.
>>32049579>running fightSmack it with the drill and lure it to a more advantageous position for us.
[x] FightThe cliffside seems to be perfectly positioned for you. Hopefully the creature's hand remains stuck in the crevice. You use the drillspear's butt to try and lock the hand in, and the entire cliff shifts. It certainly isn't going to be escaping any time soon, although if looks could kill, you'd be long dead. It seems you have the ability to influence the earth's movement to some extent. The beast snarls and its other forearm lashes out and- You focus and-A wall of earth erupts from the sea between you. You're gasping for breath and your muscles hurt, but this should buy you enough time to come up with a better plan. You can hear a dull thunking from the other side of the wall. The vibrations reveal that, whether the creature is planning to kill you or simply trying to escape, the wall will collapse toward you soon. Maybe this wasn't such a good idea. Quest ends here for tonight, as my already subpar writing gets worse as I get tired. I'll be around for Q&A for a while though. General Bionicle Thread?
>>32050195Alright, looks like my initial trust was unbroken. At least for now. Thanks for running Chronicler. Also, since I don't really know much past the early Metru Nui stuff, anyone want to point me to a good resource for learning/relearning Bionicle?
>>32050195Fuck yeah Bionicle. When is this quest taking place, in the timeline of the main story? Or is that something we're slated to find out as we go along?
>>32050291http://biosector01.com/wiki/index.php/Main_PageThe bionicle wiki is pretty useful.
>>32050195So we are now in a little cavern we erected between us and the Rahi? Just making sure. This seems like it could be fun as a whole. What time is the next thread gonna fire up or when does the quest continue? Anyone going to archive this? Here have some drawfaggotry for your trouble.
>>32050343Looking at this image in retrospect i should've darkened the eye lines.
>>32050306I believe he said this is the 2001 timeline, so we should be taking the place of the original Toa. Should be interesting to see the others.
>>32050291Thank you for playing. As another anon said, BS01 (the Saga Guides in particular) is great. >>32050306RAFO. (Aaaaaa I finally get to say that it feels so gooood)You'll find out in a thread or two. If you had entered the jungle, it would have been less. >>32050343Drawfaggotry? Saving. Thank you. The quest should continue tomorrow. The Tarakava has one forearm through the wall between you and stuck in the cliff behind you, and one bashing on the wall with its head. You have air for now, since your gulch has no roof, but if the wall falls, moving that much dirt again might be impossible. You could suffocate.
>>32050739this already gives me some ideas for how to handle things. Awesome.
>>32050904Very nice, but I'd be careful when detailing any future ones. I just realized that our color scheme is very Necron.
>>32050963Yeah I was working off of Onua's eye colors and pallet. I could switch out the green for Blue or Cyan, What about yellow? And what do you mean by detailing? Should I simplify the look more? Or put in more details?
>>32051083uuugh forgot my pic
>>32051083I'd put in more details for the chest. As it stands, the body shape is a little generic. I'm fine with leaving it as Onua's pallet, since it looks rather nice. Maybe a darker shade for the body and mask?
And, holy crap this universe got far more complicated than I originally expected. Reading up on this lore is going to take awhile.
>>32051182yeah I agree with you on the body thing. I'll be honest the body was something i neglected to draw in on the original sketch so I sort of half assed it. I'll try and figure something out for y'all by the next thread. >>32051220A Prequel Arc (or two) a couple movies, and a metric butt load of side stories and even a couple alternate universes along the way.Part of me laments that it went from sort of "Scifi Tribal Fantasy" to straight up scifi, but damn if there isn't some epic reveals along the way.
>>32050195no Teridax bullshit plsI liked Makuta better when he wasn't a brotherhood.
>>32051312Yeah... that might've been the one thing I didn't like with the newer years. As cool as the Karda Nui arc was actually, the whole expansion into "Makuta being a race of sorta Toa Prototypes" and... shit like that. Teridax is a kinda shitty name. Makuta sounds primeval, evil, and just rolls off the tongue.
>>32050904Calix revamp advice: The 2001 masks don't really have mouths. They have circles, bars, rectangles, and parallelograms, but the lack of a mouth fits the almost surreal idea of robots on a tropical island. The Ignika Calix is actually organic and sentient (and ugly). http://biosector01.com/wiki/index.php/Kanohi
>>32051364Teridax's master plan will be kept in mind, but thr Brotherhood probably won't be a thing. Some details will be changed: I'll slim down the Makuta Powerset (42 Kraata powers plus shadow hand plus mask is just too many), use less to no visorak stuff, probably different Toa Ignika/Mahri if they exist at all. The Brotherhood's reason for rebelling etc actually fit with the original Amaja Circle legend, which I find fascinating. Maybe I can have somebody call him Teridax and have him get pissed off. Makuta as a villain is cooler as the primal force created with Mata Nui, almost like Tren Krom. He should be able to hold his own in a fight, but as the primal force of evil, he subverts and corrupts (see: activating Bohrok early/Ahkmou/the Master Plan).
>>32051547Noted. Also attempting a full body sketch. This is by no means finished.Any critiques? or directions you want it to go? is it too curvy? Sorta want to go a sporty route with this... its been a while since i've drawn girls... and a longer while since i've had to draw robot girls...
>>32050963Black and green is a very common color scheme. We are just as much an Xbox as we are a necron.
>>32051301I honestly wouldn't mind if OP scrapped everything post-Mata Nui and just left it as robotribals doing robotribal things.
>>32051906Same drawfag here, i'm especially looking for direction to take the legs. I am half tempted to give them the sort of... Sleeves the Mata Nui toys had.
>>32052059We 2001 right now, go for a simpler look
>>32052059Might wanna go somewhere closer to the Gali design from the movies and video games? Was a bit blockier.
>>32052332>>32052351Those are both good visuals... I'll try and fix up the arms and legs accordingly.
we gonna encounter any Rakshi?
>>32052450This is currently roughly 2001 in the storyline, so that comes down the road>>32052391shaping up nicely, but please crop that or save as a jpg instead of a png
>>32052515Gotcha. I might whip up a digitally inked version by next quest shows up. Here's a version I tweeked to have the Gali style legs shown here >>32052351 and here >>32052332 .
>>32052572I like that you even included the gear on the back
Here's the early style: youtube.com/watch?v=7BYixVYm-1kHere are the comics up to Mask of Light:http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=341159
>>32052678Ah, this brings me back, That is some nice inking on that comic, I might try and dig out my microns and give that a shot. maybe put some of those nice rusty details on our girl.
>>32052926And Lines Done. what do y'all think? Might block in colors next. The image is also free for anyone else to fiddle with as well I guess.
>>32053651Fuck I might need to fix her right foot to match her left or vice versa.
>>32053671An attempt was made. Here's a base coat. Let me know what y'all think.
>>32053952Liking it so far. You should also try to sketch out Captain Nui and Bell Toa after this.
>>32054357I'll give that a shot before I figure out the rest of Tumahti's colors in a bit. Captain Nui would wear a Hau right? What about Bell Toa? I can't help but think pic related for him.
>>32054434>I can't help but think pic related for him.I love it. Question is would Bell Toa be a dude or would they be the obligatory blue chick? Either way, I feel like Ga-koro would be a natural fit for sonic powers.
>>32054434>HauNah. Captain Nui would wear something new and never seen before. Like a mask that looks like random metal just stuck to his face and then turned into a mask after a while. I have no idea for a power.. Maybe something passive? Like buffing teammates? Or maybe healing. A team captain that is also the partys white mage
>>32054507There are actual Sonic Toa actually, and Sonic Matoran and etc. Its some Expanded Universe stuff but still. I might be tempted to agree with you. >>32054546I thought it be Hau because it is the mask of shielding. >Using a shield, mask of shielding, toa of magnetism flying around like static shock.
>>32054507>Ga-koronah dude. Bell Toa would be like a wandering bard. Always on the go and looking for new sounds to discover and put together to make the ultimate melody/tune. And I would rather that it was a he. preferably with toa dreadlocks
>>32054507I figure bell toa might be a dude.
>>32054586yeah.. using a shield and all that. Everyone would expect him to be using Hau (I am not saying that he doesn't have it in his collection. But it's not his main mask)
>>32054587>And I would rather that it was a he. preferably with toa dreadlocksI like this a lot. I still think either Ga-koro or the leaf dudes would be a good fit for him, even if he does tend to wander more than stick around.
>>32054645he would totally bro it up with the leaf dudes. They would be all "Hey Toa Bell. Look what we found. A new rahi that attracts you with its sound and then eats you""Bitchin.. let's look at it little dude"
>>32054587I like this. Maybe make him some sort of musical tinker too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3tVZxqEm5PQI might have to save this for when the OP comes back but are we rolling with toa in the original Six elements? or are we branching out into expanded universe stuff? Magnetism Psionics, Sonics, Green, Metal, Etc, being elements of matoran, and therefore elements of toa.
how about.. a toa of animal/life? This would be the token girl toa and she would be found by the animals of mata nui and raised by them. She wouldn't have any weapons but instead have a bond with some crazy lego monster that everyone fears but she just thinks is a big ball of love or something
>>32054693I don't think there is any "Main" elements. You just make a toa and roll with it. Last night I posted the idea for a toa of magnetism and then later the name Captain Nui. People rolled with it and now is more of a community project. If you have an idea for a toa I say go for it. Post it and see what people say
>>32054702There's the Green (Not Air which is also green, but The Green is an element all its own, apparently), which is... essentially Plants as an element, plus there is a mask of Rahi summoning.
>>32054755oooh that might be something. But is there a way we can think the animal controlling/summoning/life in a new way? Something that has not been seen before?
>>32053952NiceAlso, is this gonna get archived?
>>32054927Yeah I have no idea how this works. I mean ... I figure it might definitely get archived on foolz or the automatic archive somewhere, but theres SupTG as well... though apparently there is a "request for archive" system there. Sorry I'm a little new to the Quest Scene.
>>32054775we could maybe perhaps make the animal control more like animal posession. Like a clever way of using a mask of Mind Control or mask of Spirits. Meaning the toa in question might be a bit indesposed while working whatever animal or rather Rahi magic.
>>32054954It does get automatically archived on Foolz, but it's good to use Suptg anyway because it gives you a nice list.Basically just head over to http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/requestinterface.html?, then put the post number of the OP in, a title, description and some tags, and hit Go. It's easy.
>>32054972how about animal transformation?
>>32054977Also, keep using the same tags for each thread so we can have a complete archive. You can also put in an extra tag or two to describe the particular going-ons in a thread.
>>32054989Possibly. There is a mask of Adaptation, which basically has no real appearance or Cool Maori-esque name, because its mostly been fluffed in fiction.
>>32054989Hell one can fluff a whole new mask for that sort of thing to be honest. But might have to be like minimized somehow. Cause yeah there's stuff in canon that are similar, like mask of kindred, which is basically mimic rahi abilities, or adaptation (Which is more about fitting into an enviroment), nothing along the lines of physical transformation like that. So yeah. Fluff away!
