Super Spy Edition!

You are Shax Bonemurder, some sort of light powered demigoddess! But more importantly, you're a cave goblin with a big sword. You just got done slamming a library into your cave domain, and now you have access to all these ancient books! And your light powers got stronger. Too bad you don't care about either of those things, huh?

>Shax's Stuff! So you can keep track: http://pastebin.com/U3hKZfAd

>I'm the boss! Points: 1

Your steward approaches you, strange scroll in hand, "Oh, by the way, this was delivered by the celestial couriers not too long ago. You might find it interesting."

It's a list of all the most famous and powerful swordsmen in the world, and their patrons. That's kinda cool, you guess. Wait, what??! You are listed at the bottom, the 100th most powerful swordsman in the world. Your patron is listed as 'Herself.' Which is rare. Jeez, that's kinda embarrassing. You're not really sure what to do with this information. Oh wait, the thing lists your location, too.

>8/32 FMMM exp, 3/3 Tidal Points
>0/1 WDFKCMASS exp. Advance this by defeating strong swordsmen!
>You're not sure what else there is to unlock?

You figure you oughta get back to the material plane. "Well, you guys keep it nice and neat. I'll be back later!"

"Farewell, master." "See you later, master." What loyal servants.

You appear in the stone chair back in the ruined temple. Brokagh glances at your appearance, tossing a lazy salute. "Oh, hey boss. There aren't any traps even though this place is suspicious as hell."

Sitri is turns at you, hand on hip, "Oh! Hey, Shax. Got an idea of where to go now?"

>See if you can't run into a swordsman on the list.
>Rush the third altar.
>Let's wander around the border of this country for a while.

is as cool as damp caves Shax. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
>>
>>31998422
We should probably just go independent and make a living as mercenaries for hire.
>>
>>31998323
That looks great anon.
>>
You put a finger on your chin, "Hey guys, I hate to be selfish, but do you think we can rush to that third altar? I know you probably all want to go home, and I don't wanna hang around on this continent much longer either, but I think I oughta really finish this up if at all possible, you know?" It isn't very boss like for you to ask like this, but you wanna make sure these guys are in it for the long haul.

Bearbreath waves a paw in front of his mouth as he yawns, shaking his head before respondingly lazily, "Sure thing, boss. I was just here 'cause you wanted to come here anyway." Well, at least the most important one is on board with it.

Elbowing you jokingly, Sitri says, "You know I'm just here cause you're too entertaining, right?" Allonces makes an noise of agreement as she hugs you from behind. Brokagh just winks and gives you a thumbs up, and Fetidclaw shrugs. You're clearly the most inspiring leader around.

You're out the door in the next few moments, telling your friends about your new elemental jam. Out of the corner of your eye, you see several stone lizard servants waving good bye from the shadows of the small temple. Guess they're the guardians this time.

The altar is about four days away. The landscape here is schizophrenic at best, a mishmash of jungles, swamps, deserts, and you're really getting sick of this place. The caves of your realm have only made you more homesick than you were before. Still, it is almost all over, you suppose!

>Charge straight at the Altar. No time for lollygagging.
>Maybe there is some time for lollygagging. See if there is anything interesting on the way.
>>
>>31998629
But being a mercenary is boring.

If we're going to go independent I want to do something less overdone than being a mercenary.

Also, let's summon lizard servants. They are not like turtles right? They will stay with us?
>>
>>31998577
So we pretty much have our own little demiplane that gets larger the more altars we get?

And also gives us superpowers.
>>
>>31998703
We need to overthrow the Fouldrinker clan when we get back.

>>

>>31998935
>>31998910

>>
>>31998964
Maybe third shrine upgrades lizards to stone Gargoyles or Dragons. Then we could have our air squadron after all!

>>31998989
They're the kind that needs direct line of sight to do damage though.
>>
>>31999000
We're gonna fix that and have a permanent retinue of Crystal turtles.
>>
>>31999000
We don't need them now and we might as well save that last pearl in case we need to hit something hard. We will probably get more pearls during the trip home.
>>
We should ask the Dragon Lady or the Drow Lady if there's any Altars they know of that we could conquer.

Or any they have that they don't want.
>>
>>31999097
We should have 2 pearls if i remember correct.
>>
>>31999097
We should have 2 now since the extra one.

>>
>>31999119
Altars are specific to this horrible continent, I believe.
>>
>>31999124
>>31999143
Ah I forgot about that.
>>
>>31999148
Nope.

It's just that most of the ones one the other continent are taken.

Since there's an invading army there should be quite a few dangling around.

They're probably prime targets for our army too.
>>
>>31999119
>Or any they have that they don't want.
Are you serious?
>>
A large tower is on the distance, drawing your gaze. Maybe it is filled with- a mosquito bites your neck and you slap it, pulling away you see a giant snake begin eating a small mammal of some kind that was eating the eggs of some sorta large flightless bird. Yeah, no, we're getting off this entire freaking continent. You tell Brokagh and Fetid to book it.

You make quick time, and before too long you see a large village where the altar is supposed to be at. Weird, the map made this place look pretty empty. Brokagh comes sneaking back to where the party is holding. "Place is filled with weird vine looking guys. I think they're magical familiars like those turtles of yours."

"Lizards, too."

"Sure, whatever, boss. The point is, they're building something down there. More than just a village. I didn't even want to risk taking one out and getting closer in case their brains were, like, linked or something. I don't think that altar is unseated, Shax." Brokagh has a pretty serious look on his face.

Fetid comes back, a vine person slung over her shoulder. She throws it onto the ground with a disgusted look on her face. "Took one down. It seems to be part plant, part earth. I don't see anything that really says 'light' to me, do you?" Apparently light means moss and crystals, so you don't know really.

>Investigate closer. Send in Brokagh and crew to get more information.
>Have Sitri go undercover as a traveling bard to check it out.
>A town means you can raid it. And we're raiders!
>>
>>31999201
Ones a dragon and ones drow.

I may not be their thing.

Or it may be a reward for us.

Or it may be a mission to go take one of the enemies' altars.

Doesn't hurt to ask.

Shax will never become a drummer at this rate, guys.

Once we get back to the plains, can we summon up a gigantic crystal cove? Fuck subtlety, we need a cool evil base like any self respecting boss. Every month summon just a few more turtles. Shax is dissatisfied with raiding, so why not try for a little role reversal?

>>
If you had sleeves, you'd roll them up. It's time for a raid! "Alright boys, the ways I see it, they've made themselves a cozy little town, right?" Allonces nods, Bearbreath yawns, Brokagh sorta stares off into the distance. Good, you have their attention. "And what are we good at?"

"Singing?" "Handstands." "I have a collection of whittled statuettes I'm very proud of." "Ooh! Hairstyles. You should let me do your hair and makeup one day, Shax." "Cooking." Oh, so when it is about them they speak up.

"Yes. Also raiding. We're raiders, remember?! So let's raid this stupid town!" You stomp down on the vine person's head for emphasis. It crunches oddly. You look down to see a skull set in there, entwined with vines. More freakin' necromancy I mean really? You quickly disassemble the vine guy to see it is mostly skeleton, covered in plants and rocks. Well, shouldn't be a problem.

You charge in with your minions, meeting little resistance. There are a bunch of skeletons, but they aren't really combatants, so cutting through them is easy. Seems like they were mostly there for manual labor. Smashing your way through the town, you notice that most of the buildings were half-finished or didn't make much sense. Someone oughta oversee these plant monsters a little more efficiently. They suck at building things.

Before too long, you're in the center of town. It's a large stone building. "Must be where the Altar is," someone says, with complete control over observing the obvious. Occassionally a band of plant covered skeletons will assault you, and be driven away easily.

"So how do you want to get into this thing, it seems sealed. I'm sure actual altar guardians are in there, as well." There are gates that seem covered in boulders.

>just knock and ask if anyone is home
When they don't answer then bash the door down
Or we could drink from our illusion cup and see What happens
>>
You glance at the door for a moment, before pulling back for a massive overhead swing, crashing through the door easily. Making sure to wipe the mud off your shoes as you walk in, you call out, "Hey, I'm Shax. Anyone home?" with your sword over the shoulder. It's very dark in here, but it isn't like that's ever stopped your eyes. There are several shapes waiting around in the darkness. One looks like a horse person, and several goat ladies like Sitri are hanging around. You're not sure if they know you can see them, and as you get near the throne they charge you.

The goat ladies all have ceremonial daggers, and they're screaming in some weird language as they rush you, and you barely get the sword up in time to catch them. Jeez, they're fast. "On your right!" You hear Brokagh snarl and see a centaur swinging an axe at you, hitting you on your shoulder and leaving a nasty wound. Ow! A feathered arrow slides into his head from the side, and the charging horse man slides past you, making a horrible screaming sound. One of the satyxis ladies has grey hair, and starts chanting. Vines pick up a mammoth skull and start growing an elephant body. Oh, jeez.

Allonces and Brokagh are each in a two on one fight, and Fetid is just trying to stay back, letting loose arrows when he can. The flesh of the dead centaur seems to melt away as vines work its way around the fallen body, and it gets back up, knocking back a crude arrow from a suddenly formed plant-like bow. This is gonna be annoying.

Especially that chanting one, that one has to go. "Keep those skeletons away, boys!" You shout, hoping to get a clean spin to the grey haired satyxis.

"Hey, aren't female satyrs supposed to be rare, Sitri?" Allonces says, idly skewering one with her spear.

"Yeah, I'm surprised there are this many here, to be honest. I don't know what's going on... I was sort of a once in a generation sort of deal." Sitri is hacking her way through various skeletal plant guys as she says this, with a look of confusion on her face.

An icy lance cuts through four skeletons scrabbling up at you from the left as you start to build momentum to start spinning at the white haired lady. A few ceremonial daggers come at you, but what you weren't expecting were the blasts of dark magic! One hits you, and you feel suddenly very weak, stumbling a bit and having to catch your breath. Jeez magic is annoying. You ready yourself just in time to see the mammoth rushing a tusk right at you, which you manage to catch on your blade just in time to go flying. Another mammoth forms near the chanting lady. She's gonna be harder to get to! You'll just have to spin in properly.

Brokagh runs in, punching clear through the chest of one satyxis, and doing a spinning kick to send another one flying while you reorient yourself. "You okay, boss?"

"Yeah, sorry. Was just not used to this. We gotta get to that lady before we get overwhelmed," you cough out. Brokagh nods, and Bearbreath's lynx runs up to your side. Time to pierce through their defenses!

With a shout, Brokagh does a flying kick into a reanimated centaur, knocking the top off and mounting the skeletal body from behind. With a grunt, he twists over, tossing the horse to the side into an oncoming crowd. You go spinning through the opening he made, lynx behind you at a safe distance. When a mammoth attempts to intervene, the lynx pounces a leg, tearing at the vines to distract the colossal reanimated beast. You have enough speed to crash through the second mammoth, sending bones flying everywhere as you finally approach the witch causing all this michief.

The white haired satyxis snaps her eyes wide open right as you get to her, attempting to chant a spell of somekind right before you smack the sword into her head. Needless to say, the incantation doesn't finish.

As if someone flipped a switch, the summoned skeletons in the room start milling about aimlessly, only ones touched by the remaining satyxis able to regain their will, but without a concerted wall of bodies, the last few witches go down easily.

After clearing the debris of vines and bones out, you uncover an altar. It has a plate with some lemon cakes on it. You hope they're still clean. You know they aren't. You squint your eyes and take a bite, consciousness blasting away once more.

When you open your eyes there are two people fighting. A strange looking Goat man, more goat than man, whose flesh is melting off is shooting bolts of dark energy at a bird person of some kind.

"Hey!" You shout over the din of sorcerous combat, as the bird person launches several spears of pure sunlight down from the sky. "I'm Shax! The satyr shoots out several obsidian bolts crackling with purple energy at the bird man. "I'm a raid leader, but also I wanna sit on this throne!"

At that, the satyr turns his head to regard you for a moment before being blasted with another solar pillar. With a hissing roar, he turns around, rotting flesh bulging as he begins to change shape. Skeletal wings sprout from his back, and large green vines entertwin a massive draconic body. Oh great, an undead dragon. You heard those were always bad news. A purple mist exits his mouth, and the beast roars as it charges straight toward the bird man.

Jeez, they ignored you completely? "Hey! What are your names, and why are you here?" The bird man, evading the dragon with a quick turn lands near you.

"Oh, hello. I'm Octavian. Nice to meet you." He extends a hand, you shake it quickly, and he flies off, summoning two spinning orbs of pure yellow energy that float about him.

Well, this is kinda boring to watch? You wanna do something about all this. A bumbling old bald person walks over to you, "Oh hello, welcome to the City of the Noon Sun. Several glowing hawks surround the dragon and begin to peck at him as continuous golden bullets stream out of the orbs on either side of the birdman. Earthen lances fly out from the dragon as he roars, dispersing the hawks with a fetid miasma. You scratch your stomach and yawn quickly. They might be at this for a while. "Sure! What kinda refreshments do you have, Mr...?"

"Head Butler, is the title I go by, aspirant. And the arrangements here are all orange related. I'm sorry, but the master really insists on them as the primary fruit," he mutters with a weird accent as he leads you into a big marble building.

Idly glancing around the place, you say "Sounds like a real weirdo," and grab a chair to sit at a dining table.

"It would be unwise to spread rumors about my weirdo master in such a way." You do not comment. Before too long, he gives you a glance of orange juice with a curly straw in it. How accomadating! "So what brings you to this plane?" You kick your feet under the table and slurp loudly for a second.

"Ah! This is tasty, you know? But yeah, I got the other two light planes and figured I might as well get this one, too." The butler stops, carrying a tray of what you believe is toast and eggs. Sunny side up, obviously.

"What? You've conquered the other two? How did you even find the lost temple of Glare?"

"Some lizard circled it on a map for me."

"That seems too convenient. Are you sure it was a simple lizard?"

"Pretty sure."

"Hm."

"Hey, can I have that toast yet?"

"Oh right, of course. my apologies."

You munch on the toast, happily kicking your feet as the combat outside rumbles, shaking dust from the shelves and making your glass move on the table in a staccato manner. It's tasty.

Yup. There's a sense of dismissal of what the other anons are saying and you cling on to really flimsy arguments.

Dead bodies do mean something and point to evidence of an attack. But your response to both those points is simply that no there isn't. Trying to say goats probably like oranges doesn't sound very convincing either.

You sound like you got it in your head that it has to be the satyr and that's it.

Shy is cute.

Oblivious is cute.

Aggressive is cute.

Trying really hard at something and failing is cute.

Bratty is not cute.

>>
>>32002998
Tsundere-bratty?
>>
>>32003022
Tsundere is not bratty.

Bratty is yelling and screaming when you don't get your way.

Bratty is rich children who believe their entitled and better than everyone.

Bratty kills the cute of anything that it is paired with. Even the ultimate cute of Tsundere.
>>
>>32002989
I can honestly say that I'd hate anyone who realistically portrayed an anime or even almost any fictional personality in the real world.

But the fictional portrayals are cute and endearing.

>>
>>32003310
We still need to learn more about that prophecy thing from her.
>>
>>32003452
Prophecy?
>>
>>32003469
Axe girl mentioned some kind of prophecy that has something to do with our giant weapons during the demi-lich tournament.
>>
>>32003507
A prophecy that we will blatantly disregard and violate at every turn.

That prophecy will be so false that it rips the time space continuum.
>>
So I just re-read our encounters with Axe-girl and she sounds more like a gigantic ham with a hard-on for JUSTICE than a brat.

Sure, she mentioned her family lineage and stuff but it was more about having an overblown heroic monologue than anything.

She was just obviously not very tolerant of Shax since she's a mass murderer. I think that Evil-Good perk is going to mess with things in future encounters.
>>
>>32003507
Didn't Tanabo girl also mention something like that?
Right before we gave her Ol' painless?

Also, will Shax ever give her sword a name?

"So," You say, mouth full of food, "I got a steward and a librarian already, they seemd to know each other. You know them, too?" You're two handing the toast as you shovel it into your mouth.

The rotund bulter sighs, "Yes. I know of... them." He seems to readjust his gloves and turns to face some portrait of a old bird woman with lipstick on her beak that is shaking on the wall as you hear a loud roar. "I'm afraid we didn't get along very well. The steward thinks he is, of course, better than a common head butler. What pretentious nonsense. Always talking about maintaining the integrity of the plane. Shouldn't the master's needs come first? After all, without a master what is our purpose? And that librarian..." Jeez, he's really going off, maybe you shouldn't have asked?

His complaints seem petty and also lame, and you make a mental note to straighten all this out. You're the boss now, and you're gonna make sure your servants are doing things right.

Something feels off for a few moments, before you realize the shaking has stopped. You guess the fight is over? You peek outside and see the dragon lying on its side, groaning with the birdman in its claw. Looks like the bird guy is dead, at least usually you're dead when claws are sticking out of your chest. You whistle, and turn to the butler, "Jeez, looks like your master is down, eh? Does that man skeleton dragon is your new master?" The butler glances sideways at you.

"No... technically all it means is that the throne is empty. If you get what I'm saying."

You don't.

You look at him for a second, your mouth a straight line. "Nope. Gonna have to be more clear. Give me a second, though!" You unsheathe your sword and run over to the dragon. You don't know much about dragons, but you DO know that they are hard to deal with. You can't flap around like these guys, and you know you don't want to fight a dragon if you can help it.

It turns to look at you, with one gross reptilian eye in its rotting skull. "Wh-what manner of beast is this...?" It's voice is low and rumbly. You don't bother answering it as you bring your sword down on its head, cracking it wide open.

A weird hissing sound is heard, and the dragon seems to deflate, its bones and skin and vines melting away until nothing is left except for an undead goat man, laying face first on the ground. Crumpled far from him is the bird man, wheezing a hacking cough. You walk over to him. "Hey, Oktaplan. You're still alive?" He lifts one hand, pointing at you. A small spark of light floats through the air and touches your nose.

>You've learned: Lost history of the Winged People of the Sun! Too bad its all in a language you can't understand. No loss there, hopefully?

He's still alive. Barely. Oh, wait no, there he goes. Enjoy a good sleep, Oklobian! Whatever your name was. You take out another piece of toast and chew it up as you walk back to the butler. "What was that you were saying about the throne being empty." He sighs, and show you the chair. You decide to sit in it.

The whole place shimmers around you and looks like a complete flat, white room. Your three servants appear before you. "Uh, where are my sweet turtles and lizard helpers?" This is a very important question.

"You decide the layout of the plane, master. It can be molded by your thoughts alone now."

Well obviously you want crystals, moss, turtles, and stone lizard guys. The library stays cause you promised. What else do you want?

>You can make your own plane! Write in. I'll take coolest ideas and add them.

"Hmm okay well I'm going to want a giant sword statue made of swords an-"

"Please, stop," The steward says, hand on his forehead.

"What the, ah, steward means, is that you can just concetrate on what you want and it shall be so. No need to narrate the whole shebang." Oh.

You screw your eyes shut for a few moments, and concentrate really hard on what you want. After a few moments you open them. What surrounds you is truly impressive!

You have a semi-translucent crystal castle. The crystals are various shades of sea-green and deepblue, and if you squint real hard you can see dark shapes swimming on the other side. It has a very spire shaped, three floor layout. Surrounding the bottom floor is the rocky pattern of a cave, and your entrance leads distinctly into one. On the bottom floor is the dining room, of which you have direct access to from your bedroom, as well as the meeting hall. The meeting hall has giant stone statues of turtles on their hind legs, rearing up and crossing swords, that they are holding in their mouths, forming an archway into your palace. There is a larder on this floor, also connected to your room, and several large bedrooms. Yours is massive, with a turtle shaped bed. Each room has a hot tub in it, heated by volcanic vents. The crystal in the rooms is much thicker, and you can't see through it, though the entire building is lit by a sun hanging overhead, and glowing moss lining the walls throughout the structure.
>>
>>32005570
I hope we get to see how impressed our caretakers are with this swell abode.
>>
The second floor is half library, with stone walls, and half treasury, a massive metal vault. For some reason, this floor is submerged, but breathing is easy here. Statues of swords lean against the wall or hold platforms up throughout this area, giving it avery three dimensional feel. Bright crystals and glowing seaweeg hang from the corners in these rooms, keeping them well lit and cozy. On the third floor strange glowing flowers are everywhere, and a volcanic vent reaches from the bottom of your castle, crawling up the side and leading right into the room, glowing as bright as the sun, and being a forge. A small armory is connected to here, and most of the floor seems to function as a gallery for statues and paintings.

Throughout the structure are crystalline turtles, glowing with a strong inner light. Atop the turtles are several small birds, who seem to be comprised of crackling sunlight. Other than them, your primary servants are lithe stone lizards, who have leathery skin under their arms that can function as wings. Between their claws is webbing as well, and they can swim incredibly fast.

Neat!

The steward bows to you. All your servants look like the stone, gem encrusted, and moss covered lizards now. "You receive four additional astral pearls, master. Your monthly allotment is now eight. Please use them responsibly."

"Cool, so can I shoot sun lasers now?" You ask, excitedly.

"No."

"Aww, what can I do?"

The librarian clears her throat, "I can, ah, lend some titles if you're interested?"

You're sorta interested. But you don't want to read too many at once! Select a book series to learn divine talents from:

"Um, I'll take this one..." You say, grabbing the book on lasers. It looks pretty easy to learn, and had lots of pictures.

'The first step to create a strand of light.' Okay, easy enough. 'The second step is to create several more strands of light.' Alright... 'Now add details.' What the hell, that doesn't look anything like the strands of light in the other pictures! Maybe you'll figure it out later. It'll take some time, though...

"Master, if you wish to return to this place, the use of one astral pearl can create a cave entrance on the material realm. That cave will lead to a beach that connects to the cave leading to this palace."

You think for a moment, "So does that mean the surface caves will also connect to each other?"

The steward nods. That could make moving tons of troops pretty easy... You don't have tons of troops yet, though! You bid your servants goodbye for now and jump back to the fortress. The only person in the room is Allonces, who is sitting on the ground. "Oh, hey Shax! You were gone for a while. The others are all outside guarding the place, but I figured I'd rest." She finishes off her statement with an embarrassed laugh, while scratching her head. Man, she's lazy!

You round up the troops, and say that you're the boss of all the light realm now. "Okay, but what does that mean?" You don't really know. "Well, that's good for you, Shax. Can we go home now?" You certainly can!

You start heading towards Lanketh. You hope there is still a boat heading home.

The familiar scene of burying a body, planting a tree, and it quickly growing and withering happens. From beneath the roots a groaning young man sits up, and rubs his head. He has two curved horns and long shaggy hair. He is gangly as hell. "What happened?" He asks, his voice cracking. He grabs his throat and looks down. Tiny bat wings are on his back, that seem to go straight up as if in shock.

Bearbreath looks at you flatly, and you look back at him. He shrugs, "I don't control this stuff, boss."

"Hi I'm Shax, and everything about this continent is awful." You extend a hand at the naked boy.

"H-hey," He responds weakly, grabbing your hand and standing up, "Why'd you revive me?"

You shrug, "You seemed nice. Anyway, wanna join me?"

"That's it? I said, like, one line to you. Did you sit in my throne?"

"Yeeeesss?"

"No thank you. Thanks for reviving me, I guess." He looks around, depressed. "Even thoguh I thought I was finally done guarding my people's history. Guess you wiped all that out, huh?" He sighs, deeply. "I'm gonna just go... I don't know. I'm just going to go off somewhere. Not here." He shuffles off, naked. wow, he's depressing. You're not really sure how else you expected that to go.
