Non-contradictory votes will be combined as best as possible. There are occasional roles to keep things organic, but mostly it goes by voters choice. Unless specified otherwise, the best of 3 rolls is the result, and rolling high is good. Write-ins for all votes or always welcome and encouraged. Put your own spin on it, suggest dialogue, add an addendum, or anything else. Just because some options specify to write in, doesn't mean that they aren't welcome for anything else. They may not all make it into the post or be altered to fit in, but I'll do my best to at least try to address the spirit of the write-in. Very important or contentious votes may be redone in a stricter voting system as it comes up. Combat is currently under revision and subject to change. Currently it works just like dialogue and other options. Finally time to try out the new battle rules!
Whoohoo time for pokemans and lesbians
Time for Pokeymans
>>31893745YEE HAW, been waiting for you gobble. time to round off a perfect day with some pokemon quest
[Just a note on battling. I don't think anyone was terribly impressed with the old system of basically emulating the video games. What we'll be trying today is basically treating battles in the same way as other votes. Some general strategies will be provided and the winning one will be selected. The timeframe between votes will vary a bit depending on what the vote was for. Non-contradictory addendums and votes will be included as best as possible, with vague or unclear stuff being asked to be revoted in a strict manner if there isn't a general consensus.I am very open to other ideas or suggestions if this system has major issues. I'm hoping this will allow and encourage more improvisation on battling and less divisive constant revotes.I'm admittedly pretty bad at knowing when things are being samefagged. If you believe a revote should be done or have questions, please don't hesitate to speak up.]>>31893881These make my day more than they should.
>>31894030I think it should still be 5 minutes. It makes sense since battle ought to be as fast paced as we can manage. If the discussion gets intense (not just shit-flinging but actual discussion) it could go on longer.
>>31894030Which is your favorite pokeball. I need to know for reasons
>>31893745Awesome, I've been waiting for a new pokeon quest.
>>31894084That picture is rude!
>>31894030why more than it should? you're basically sitting down with a gang of friends to chill out and tell a cool story. if that's not great I don't know what is>>31894084for catching things: dark ball, hunt at night and you get a x4 catch rate. for looks the luxury ball every time.
>>31894122It's a Legitimate question Kat need's answered
Let's do this! You feel the words, but you don't shout them. Instead, you adjust your helmet so it's firmly in place, and take a determined, fighting position.Clair smiles in a determined manner and says nothing as well. She doesn't have to be psychic to read your intent. You came here for a battle. You came to win a badge. The lithe, pale girl with raven hair leans back. Her billowy dress clings to her legs as a ball floats in the air. You've just met her but feel you already know her very well thanks to both of you touring the others mind. She looks exhausted but visibly relieved. The referee, who's been reading a book and not paying much attention, suddenly gets up. "Oh! Yes!" He coughs and stands officially. "Right. This will be a one on one match using three Pokemon each. Only the challenger may switch Pokemon. If either side speaks out loud during the match, they will given a warning. If they speak a second time, they will be disqualified. Any other type of communication is legal."You nod in understanding. This gym match has been a long time coming. But your Pokemon have grown incredibly since the last gym, and you've learned a lot too. Your hands tremble in anticipation and excitement. You want to win. You want to be the very best. You want to be worth something."As soon as I wave this flag, the gym leader will throw out her first Pokemon and the match will commence. Are there any questions?" He raises his flag.>None. You're ready>Wait, you have a question (write-in)>Try to use the helmet for something before the match (write-in)>Something elsePure ascetics? I love the regular old Pokeball. I deal with designers at my job and they've convinced me that the best designs should be able to be easily drawn by children and recognized. Not that the others can't really be, but I've come to love simple designs. I have a soft spot for Net and Nest balls though. Safari balls too.

>>31894363Yes. Yes I did. I'm going to blame the spell checker on that one.
>>31894362I say we try to send lewd to Robin after the match.
>>31894397But we just had a whole thread where we tried that.Unless you want to go again, but it seems a bit redundant.
>>31894397Nah, no cheating, we did enough with the whole mind touring.
So do you think this helmet will have problems with Devon since he is dark? I kind of wish we had tested it on him earlier just to be sure.
>>31894484... fuck, I didn't even think about that.
>>31894484Probably not, it's designed to allow for full access, a problem like that would be expected. Now if there's electricity flying about and it shorts out then there's a problem.
>>31894484I shouldnt think so, it would give clair an unfair advantage over the most effective type matchup vs her psychics so I doubt the league would have allowed the use of these mind helmets if they didn't work on dark types. besides, we used one ok and we have a "dark" aura
>>31894326>>None. You're readyLET DO DIS
You nod. You're ready. You consider sending dirty thoughts to Clair, but decided against it. You also make a mental note to do it on Robin after the match.Robin. You still can't believe she's keeping a secret from you. You can't remember what it was though. You shake your head. You can't think about that right now. You have a match to win. With a lifetime of practice, you stuff that uncomfortable truth away and focus on the task at hand.Clair gives a flick of her hand and the levitating ball lands on the field. Her face show's clear concentration. It's Gardevoir! You remember her as being protective of Clair in her head. It's a Psychic and...something type. Fairy?Oddly enough, you do know this Pokemon's possible abilities thanks to studying them. Maybe will a little more study in that area, you'll be able to tell a Pokemon's ability or abilities by looking at it. You've read that some Pokemon can unlock a second or even third one with a lot of hard work, but that stuff is pretty advanced.Gardevoir most likely has Synchronize, Trace, or Telepathy.>Send out Devon (Houndoom)>Send out Destiny (Horsea)>Send out Vlad (Golbat)>Send out Zappy Dan (Magnezone)>Send out Trunks (Trevenant)>Send out Nibbles (Tyrunt)
>>31894857>Send out Devon (Houndoom)I don't like starting with the heavy hitter, but if she's throwing out Gardevoir I don't think we have much choice.
>>31894857>Send out Trunks (Trevenant)The ents are marching to war.
>>31894857>Send out Devon (Houndoom)
>>31894857devon seems like too an obvious lead to me and I want to save him for either 2nd or last so maybe try trunks- instead, he has phantom force and we can use horn leech to regain some health if things go ill
>>31894857>Send out Trunks (Trevenant)Fairy types have resistance to Dark. Devon's not as clearly advantageous.
>>31894857>>31894976>Send out Trunks (Trevenant)
>>31894857>Send out Trunks (Trevenant)Treetime
>>31894857What's Zappy Dan's moveset? Steel is strong against Fairy (that cold iron analogue), and Zappy's part Steel. If he has any Steel-type moves it'll hit for just as massive damage as Dark against Gardevoir's Psychic half.
>>31894857>Send out Zappy Dan (Magnezone)Let's try to crush it with power. Houndoom is a bad idea, he's weak to fairy.
>>31895002Damn you gen VI type changes!I'll change mine >>31894895to Trunks then.
>>31894857>>Send out Trunks (Trevenant)Hate gen VI. Fairy type. Hate.
>>31894857Ghost tree ahoy
>>31895094Man that's lewd.
>>31895014dan would be my first choice with his mahoosive sp. atk and the fact he is an indomitable wall of steel with a kamikaze setting if things go wrong but his recent evolutions have made him unsteady in his own body and until he gets those teething troubles out the way I'm leery of dumping him right in it. if push comes to shove though, he is my ultimate fallback. (and in fact a magnemite/magneton/magnezone has been pretty much my signature pokemon in every one of the games I've played)
>>31895017Fire resists, so he ends up neutral, but fairy resists dark anyway, which makes either Trunks or Dan a better option.
>>31894857>Send out Trunks (Trevenant)I cant remember, we thought him Phantom force right? We were planning it but i am not sure if we actually did.
>>31895120I'm still not convinced Zappy Dan has his flight down fully.
>>31895094Whats that from?
>>31894857>Send out Trunks (Trevenant)Seems like a good idea honestly.
>>31895162Girl friends as are all the edits, It's cute lesbians and drama
>>31894857>Send out Zappy Dan (Magnezone)Sick defence, protected against fairy. Solid choice against gardevoir, and we should save trunks for wobbufet
>>31895114I would too. I'd like Dan to be open if we need to switch in though. Trunks has Phantom Force and Confuse Ray which makes him nice to start off with till we see what her next choices include.
is gobble kill?
>>31895528Not kill, distracted
You have a lot of ideas, but end on using Trunks. You throw out the Pokeball and he appears, ready for action. His small wooden appendages click on the ground in anticipation. You can feel his thoughts. He likes his new form. He feels more powerful. He hopes he'll make you proud. The arena is has several scattered, open shipping containers. Other than that, it's bare. You're glad for that. One gimmick is enough. You already have to fight the urge to talk.Trunks has a lot of moves. As smart as Raistlin has shown himself to be, Trunks seems to have a gift for picking up moves.Clair's eyes glow and Gardevoir beings to move. How will you start the match?>Get close and aggressive with contact moves like Feint Attack, Horn Leech, Tackle and Astonish>Start the match with offensive status effects. Things like Confuse Ray, Will-O-Wisp>Start the match defensively. Growth, Leech Seed, and being ready to dodge>Lead with Phantom Force off the bat. It's risky, but might be worth it (d100)>Something elseFeel free to add addendums, conditions, or modifications to any of the moves you see.

>>31895540>>Start the match defensively. Growth, Leech Seed, and being ready to dodgePrep work with leech seed - do we have ingrain? Then when we're set, move on to overwhelming force.
>>31895540>Confuse Ray, Leech SeedBurning a special attacker is a waste of a turn, and growth isn't playing to our strengths.

Just a little off topic question here, how would frisk work? I don't really think a pokemon would run up and grope the other quickly and then scurry back.
>>31895815>Not groping opposing pokemonAbsolutely etc
>>31895711The fact that more likely than not it will be utterly useless or even hurt Trunks himself more.
>>31895711its a psychic move vs a psychic type- it's offensively worthless because of types and probably worthless in the long run because we have an overwhelming type advantage and we'll KO it in a few moves
>>31895654Confuse ray is fine. Synchronise only affects burns, poison and paralysis.
>>31895858>>31895864Okay, I went with the aggressive approach.
Gobble is fallen.
>>31896468No, Gobble still fights!
>>31896468With this new style battles updates will be more bulky so i guess he is writing a lenghty update.
So what kind of cheese do you think the pokemon world has? There's Miltank's milk, obviously, but what other pokemon match animals that produce milk for cheese?
>>31896700I assume they have goat cheese. Also cow cheese.
>>31896718Do you think Tauros and Buffolant too? There's never been any mention of milk from anyone other than miltank.
>>31896757Tauros are all male.Milktank is supposed to be their female half.
You can see Gardevoir set up a psychic barrier that quickly fades. You know it's still there though. It was Reflect. You 'tell' Trunks to use Confuse Ray. His reaction time blows you away. He fires it off and it goes right through the barrier. Gardevoir is confused.Clair blinks rapidly for a second, then looks normal. You wonder what that was about. You don't have time to think about it though. Your thoughts are all over the place. As Trunks closes the distance, he shoots a Will-O-Wisp. A burn develops on her, the on Trunks. Damnit! Synchronize! You take advantage of the confusion and press with Feint Attack just as she's trying to use Double Team. Trunks is able to land a solid blow.Clair looks mad. Her eyes glow again and Gardevoir used Light Screen. You have Trunks use a quick Tackle and hit hard with Horn Leech when she's off balance. Combined with the confusion, she's having a hard time using moves and avoiding damage. Gardevoir teleports back and fires a Shadow Ball, hitting Trunks in the gut. Even though it was only one, it hit really hard. He closes the distance once again and lands a quick Astonish. His shout causes Gardevoir to flinch before she can use another move. Both Pokemon look roughed up. Clair's facial expression shows she has a plan. The confusion seems to be wearing off. It might last for a few more seconds. You can feel Trunks' burn. It doesn't hurt you, but you're aware of it. At least Gardevoir has one too.>Don't let up! Stay close, hit hard and fast with a rapid rotation of Astonish, Feint Attack, and Tackle>Now's the time for your new move, Phantom Force (d100)>Focus on healing Trunks. Use Leech Seed and Horn Leech.>Switch out (specify)>Something elseSorry. My dad had a computer emergency and called me. He's a talker.
>>31896757I would love for people to actually drink Tauros "milk" and make it into cheese.
>>31896807>Focus on healing Trunks. Use Leech Seed and Horn Leech.
Rolled 17>>31896807>Now's the time for your new move, Phantom Force (d100)This style of battling is odd, but okay. Why does Gobble's description remind me of Biollante?
Rolled 60>>31896807>>Now's the time for your new move, Phantom Force (d100)Shadow Ball on Gardevoir makes things interesting. Burn reduces attack too, so I'm not against switches.
>>31896807>>Focus on healing Trunks. Use Leech Seed and Horn Leech.Oh dear.
Rolled 83>>31896807Time for our surprise move! Phantom Force!
>>31896807>Now's the time for your new move, Phantom Force (d100)
>>31896807>Switch out (specify)Dan, or anyone, really. Maybe leech seed before we do?Leech seed would be great to get off, but any physical move would be a total waste of time while he has a burn. If we switch, we can at least bring him in later to confuse and leech seed.I appreciate the idea behind speeding up battles, but in that case I think you should try to separate it a bit from game mechanics.
Rolled 49>>31897016>>31896807whoops didn't roll right
>>31897111It's much more sped up than doing one move at a time.
Rolled 27>>31896807>Now's the time for your new move, Phantom Force (d100)Don't want this fight to drag out. Try to heal on next Pokemon.
I approve of the new system! However, I have very little knowledge of the games anyways, so battles have always been times for me to sit back and let others vote anyways. They might disagree.
>>31897281i don't like how little influence we have over the moves we use now.
>>31897496Well now that we know what to expect, we can play out more specific plans.
>>31897496easy solution- write in more
You concentrate on one move. Phantom Force! You have to stop yourself from shouting it.Trunks vanishes just before a Shadow Ball explodes where he was standing. You can't sense him anymore.Clair and Gardevoirs eyes both scan the arena in the exact same pattern. Clair regains control and her eyes glow. Gardevoir clasps her hands together and a pink ball of light goes up into the sky.Was that Wish? If you remember right, Wish heals a Pokemon after a short wait. Clever girl.Clair smiles, but you see that her eyes are heavy set and her head droops a little.WHAM! Trunks appears and hits Gardevoir with the power of Phantom Force. His burn and the Reflect that's up prevent it form hitting as hard as it could. You don't doubt that she'd be out under normal circumstances. You're really glad he pulled it off though. Who knows what would happen if it went wrong? The burn is wearing both Pokemon down. As it stands now, a very strong hit could probably knock either of them out. The only problem is that Gardevoir will probably heal a lot in a few seconds.Trunks feels proud to pull off such a move, but disappointed that he didn't knock Gardevoir out of the fight.>If she'll heal, so will you! Leech Seed and Horn Leech!>Try to overwhelm Gardevoir with super effective attacks before she can heal>Switch Pokemon (Specify)>You have a different strategy in mind (write-in)>Something elseSlowing it down a little. That was probably too much for a single vote.
Wait, Trunks probably has natural cure...Damn it, switching to Dan is the better plan. Fer the love of....
>>31897589>If she'll heal, so will you! Leech Seed and Horn Leech!Sure!
>>31897589>Switch Pokemon (Specify)Zappy Dan on the stage. This fight might drag on till the barriers drop.
Rolled 4>>31897589>Different strategyLeech seed, then Phantom Force againI guess I should roll again.
>>31897641Way to go me.
>>31897589>Leech Seed, then swap to DanLeech seed is incredibly good if the rules prohibit them from switching out, it should always be our first move with Trunks in a gym battle, always.
>>31897589>>If she'll heal, so will you! Leech Seed and Horn Leech!
>>31897589>Switch Pokemon (Specify)Zappy Dan. They've got too much set up to let Trunks win this match up. Let's save him for later.
[Quote-only vote. Didn't seem like a general consensus. Have apology butts in compensation for my slowness]>Leech Seed, swap to Dan>Leech Seed and Horn Leech>Swap to Dan right away
Look at Trevenant's potential abilities.Frisk, Natural Cure, & Harvest on occasion. We don't know what things Gardi could be holding, so it's probably not Frisk.Which leaves Natural Cure as the most likely ability. Trunks might lose the burn if we switch him out. Wish is annoying to start with.
>>31897881>Leech Seed and Horn Leech
>>31897881>Leech Seed, swap to Dan
>>31898383You're, uh, you're a bit late there buddy.
>>31898416Yea, I was doing a lab for astronomy and just voted without thinking when I caught up.
You have Trunks use Leech Seed as Gardevoir shoots another Shadow Ball. The powerful Ghost type move his Trunks in the head, knocking him over. With your connection to Trunks, you feel his lights flicker for a second. A sense of relief washes over you as the Leech Seed restores a little bit of health. He was very close to being knocked out.The Wish floats down to Gardevoir, healing her. You act quickly and retrieve Trunks just as she's loosing another Shadow Ball. Just as he's going inside his Pokeball, you feel the Burn he had wear off.You throw out Zappy Dan. Despite having no typing resistance to Shadow Ball, he doesn't seem to be that effected by it.You feel Dan's general apathy. While he'd like to win, he doesn't have the same animalistic intensity that Trunks had. He's in control of his body.Gardevoir and Clair take a defensive stance. They're sizing you up.Leech Seed and the Burn take their toll. Zappy Dan heals slightly from the Leech Seed, but you also feel a burn starting to develop on him.>Unleash his electric potential!>Mirror Shot isn't tested in battle, but it'd be super effective (d100)>Let Dan do what he wants. >>31898632>>31898656I think Gobble is extending what Synchronize does.
>>31898712Honestly, I figured you were just extending synchronize which is technically within your rights as a QM. Though, I suppose since Kat knows most abilities, if you do decide to change the affect somewhat you might want to have her think about it in-character.

>>31898572>Mirror Shot isn't tested in battle, but it'd be super effective (d100)> Let Dan do what he wants. Try to distract Clair somehow (write-in)NOT this. Dan's a baller, but we've danced around in each others heads. I think we can respect how messed up she is in that this should be a fair battle. Gardevoir and Clair both have the same strained expression. She's so in sync with her Pokemon. The psychic connection helps, but you can see the trust they have for each other.Dan trusts you too. You feel it. You also feel that he had some doubts when you evolved him twice. That hurts you feelings until you dig deeper. He felt happy when you helped him get control though. Dan likes how much you trust him to overcome difficult situations. He seems to feel like he needs to look out for you now.Gardevoir waves her hands at Dan. A psychic construct of a prison surrounds Dan and fades away. What was that? You have Dan fire his Mirror Shot. Light focuses on one point on his outer shell and a sudden flash of grey light goes from him to Gardevoir. It hits her hard.'Don't let up!' You instruct him to unleash as much electricity as he can manage on her.Dan doesn't use Thunderbolt though. He can't for some reason. It's not because of a lack of control either, it's something else. It must have been that move Clair used.'Imprison,' you hear her voice in your head. 'It keeps your Pokemon from using any move that Gardevoir knows.' Her voice sounds strained. She's really pushing herself for this fight.Gardevoir must know Thunderbolt.Dan doesn't miss a lot of time though. He fires of a Thundershock instead. Gardevoir is caught off guard and isn't able to roll with the blow.Gardevoir is looking very worn. The Burn and Leech Seed make it worse. Reflect has faded, and Light Screen is fading now too. Clair doesn't seem to notice. The next few seconds are too important for a general strategy. You need to act quick and decisively.>Finish it with Mirror Shot! No way she can take another>Switch out. Soooo, I just realized that Gobble misspelled Pokemon for the thread title.
Clair's gaze goes back to Gardevoir. Once again, Gardevoir uses Wish.Your plan is like Zappy Dan himself. Simple, clear, and effective. It's Mirror Shot.Light focuses on a single point on Dan, then instantly connects a line of light into Gardevoir. Clair whimpers as Gardevoir goes limp and falls over. It's like she felt that.A flag waves off to the side of your vision. "Gardevoir is unable to battle!" You see a red X appear near Clair's side of the large monitor. She manually retrieves Gardevoir instead of using psychic powers. You can hear Vance's surprise through the helmet. She's right, he is 'loud.' You didn't even mean to listen.Clair inhales slowly, exhales, and uses her powers to toss out another Pokeball. It's Solrock!>Switch out to another Pokemon. >>31900257That's not possible. Pokeon's ability is called "plot armor"

>>31900523He took a few hits from Shadow Ball, and might still have thunderbolt locked out. We do follow anime rules, and a rest won't kill him.
Solrock hits Dan with a rushing vortex of fire. The fire doesn't disapate though. It stays all around Dan. You won't be able to retrieve him through those flames. That must be Fire Spin. You sense out to Dan, he's calm, even if the move is hurting. You order him to use Supersonic. The wooshing flames surrounding him do nothing to interfere with the high pitched screech that Dan emits.Solrock's beady little eyes spin. The Wish that Gardevoir used before you knocked it out floats into Solrock. Since he wasn't hurt, it was wasted. You follow up with a Thunderwave. Solrock and Clair try to do something before you let it out, but instead Solrock just floats into one of the shipping containers. It connects easily.Clair shakes her head. She looks like she's regained her senses even if Solrock hasn't. She must be able to shut it off you guess.Firespin is still surrounding Dan. Yo can't pull him back for now>Supersonic again anyway! It might affect Clair again>Explosion! Without Thunderbolt and the ability to go back, it's your best choice to end Solrock.>Try to damage it with attacks as must as possible before confusion wears off.>Something else

Also Mirror Shot has a chance of lowering Accuracy so even if we don't take it out there's that

>>31901066>memories of sand attack flash before my eyesIt's horrible.

>>31900881>Try to damage it with attacks as must as possible before confusion wears off.Mirror shot good move. Solrock is apparently weak to light that has been reflected off of Zappy Dan
>>31900881>Try to damage it with attacks as must as possible before confusion wears off.Mirror Shot seems most effective with Thunderbolt out. At least till the fire spin breaks and Devon can take the lead.
>>31901177this one is sure to chandelure you in
Oh yeah I was gonna go to sleep by now.Whoops.
>>31901220Why would we send Devon out? Trunks has a super-effective healing move. It's better to keep our last pokemon in reserve so we can counter her last.
We're going to swap out someone for Raistlin and ask to use the machine to talk to him tomorrow, right? RIGHT?
>>31901257Because the reason we discussed switching in the first place was a weakness to fire. Trunks is also weak to fire, and closer to fainting.>>31901296That's a fun idea.
What if the pokedex virus Porygon got into the machine?
>>31901325>Because the reason we discussed switching in the first place was a weakness to fire. Trunks is also weak to fire, and closer to fainting.By the time we have the chance to switch out, solrock should be close to fainting too.
>>31901340Is Jeanine gonna get Porygon? It's in her Pokedex right now and she's down to be a trainer now but it was our first pokemon.
>>31901393Well it's been jumping around.I've got no clue if that will ever come out.
>>31901340You sure it's a porygon possessing the pokedex?
>>31901411Yes.I don't believe Rotom could sit still for so long.
>>31901400I like the theory that it was evolving itself when it jumped from dex to dex
>>31901464My god. It's becoming unstoppable. What would it become if it got into the psychic machine?
>>31901464But how would it get the discs?
>>31901476I think this is my last one tonight, despite me wanting to continue
>>31901527It got the Upgrade while at the Professor's place but wasn't able to evolve until it traded itself to Robin. Then I got the Dubious Disc off the internet while in the gym computers and then returned to Robin's dex and traded itself to Jeanine's.
>>31901588I want to believethat'd be the coolest way to get a pokemon
>>31901588I really don't think the dubious discs are available off the internet. But maybe. Or maybe it has yet to get the dubious discus.
You don't give them time to recover. Knowing what you're thinking, Dan fires off a Mirror Shot. The light hits Solrock hard, causing it to be blown back a bit as it levitates.Solrock can't move due to paralysis. Dan hits him again. it's a powerful blow. This time Solrock is able to shoot off what you can only assume is Flamethrower. It misses. Solrock must be blinded from the flashes of light.Dan isn't completely dominating though. The intense Fire Spin is wearing him down.Dan hits Solrock again. You're impressed with how tough it is. She's really earned her reputation.Clair levitates a Pokeball. You think she's going to recall Solrock, but she doesn't do that yet. Instead, you see Solrock rush at Dan and begin to glow. Why does that glow look so familiar? No!Solrock explodes directly under Dan. He raises up then comes crashing down as the Fire Spin still surrounds him. It fades soon after, leaving Dan in terrible shape. Even with his powerful defense and type resistance, that hurt. Electricity sparks off of him as he wavers. You can feel it through your connection too."Solrock is unable to battle!" The referee waves another flag and another X appears on Clair's side of the screen.Clair isn't doing much better than Dan. She retrieves her Solrock. A bead of sweat goes down her face.Another Pokeball comes flying from her side of the arena. It opens to reveal Drowzee>Switch Pokemon (Specify)>Dan should go out in an Explosion of glory, just like Solrock>Try more status effects. They haven't failed you yet>Full damage! We want to switch to Trunks to take advantage of that piss-poor physical defense on Drowzee? A two-pokemon battle would be pretty sweet.

>>31901785YOU BELIEVE I CARE FOR SUCH PALTRY ATTACKS?!
I'm kind of pissed that she isn't using her Alakazam. We'll get the good trainer treatment someday.

Fuck it. Bed calls.Don't lose.
>>31901892Dammit! Left my name on again. I really need to stop doing that.
Reading through these threads, why are you guys concentrating on moves so much? You almost never train stats.
>>31901941Stats come with practice and combat?Moves can change battles which improve stats and are interesting?
>>31901941Probably because there's always some shiny new move to learn. I think Dan, and Destiny's land mobility, is the only one we've actually stat trained.
>>31901941Having an unlimited movepool is a novelty that people aren't bored of yet. Stats are pretty cool but they aren't as tangible. Once we have the sick movesets we want, we'll probably start training stats more.
>>31902021Being able to train whatever stat we want is a novelty too. Admittedly, less of one than broken movesets.
Dan doesn't have much left in him. You decide to let him do one last move before resting. Explosion! You check to see how he feels about that. He's actually happy. He wants to rest up. You're glad he's so apathetic.Small arcs of electricity spark off him as he begins to glow.Clair's eyes grow wide for just a second. You think you see a blood vessel popping out.Drowzee quickly moves it's hands and a protective barrier shapes up around it.You try to get Dan to cancel his move, but it's too late. A shimmer of light goes off of him, followed by a powerful explosion. The shipping crates both go flying back nearly off of the arena. As the dust clears, you can see Drowzee's Protect fade away. It's completely unharmd. There's a wide shallow crater in the arena though.Dan is no longer conscious. He seems content as he sleeps.Who will you send against Drowzee next?>Destiny!>Devon!>Vlad!>Trunks!>Nibbles!>Something else

>>31902119>Devon!Trunks doesn't like fainting. No need to rely on him this heavily.
>>31901892She did lead with Gardevoir. It's not like she's taking us for a chump. Two fully-evolved pokemon is a bit much.
>>31902373Actually, her Alhakazam is her starter, or at least the first one she met of those that were in her mind. She said that as an Abra, it taught her more about being a psychic than any teacher had.
>>31902413I didn't deny that. Gardevoir is also a powerhouse though, even if it isn't as highly leveled as her starter.
If Trunks wins we need him to Leech Seed as soon as he's out of the ball fallowed by Horn Leech
Can we all take a moment to appreciate how fucking bullshit mind-reading combined with Protect is?
>>31902469Why not both at the same time? That's definitely a combo we need to train.
>>31902451Oh. I wasn't trying to say she was taking it easy on us or anything. I just think that unless you neglect your starter it's probably so tough when you become a gym leader I doubt its suitable for anything other than advanced matches.>>31902490Well, its not like she had to read our mind to figure out we were using Explosion. It's not exactly a subtle move. Though in a more relaxed match, yes it would be complete BS, which is probably why she has a wobbofet.
>>31902490Its all the bullshit, but in fairness you dont need to be a mind reader to guess what was going to happen.
If drowzee's got protect, then a phatom force Trunks attack won't do much if she can predict the timing.
>>31902611Well that was late to the party, oops.
>>31902611But Leech Seed will still be a good one to use

You send out Trunks. You can feel his exhaustion. Luckily he's got two moves that are perfect for helping him recover. He's actually got a lot of moves in general.Trunks wants you to be proud of him. You want to get his health back. Trunks will need it if he'll win this one. He expertly lands a Leech Seed on Drowzee.Drowzee uses Psych Up. She's pumping up his special attack power. She's not taking Trunks seriously! You and him are on the exact same wavelength. You almost feel his feet as you have him charge with Horn Leech.Drowzee turns to Trunks and uses Hypnosis. Trunks' charge slows to a crawl until he finally stops right at Drowzee. His eyes close and he begins to drift. He's not entirely out yet. You can feel him at the brink of consciousness. Before he's completely out of it, He hits Drowzee with the Horn Leech and you can feel the energy flow back into him. Leech Seed gives him a little more.Trunks has healed a lot of health, but he's asleep and helpless in front of Drowzee.Clair wipes sweat from her forehead.>Swap Pokemon (Specify)>Try to wake him up and focus on status effects>Try to wake him up and focus on damaging moves>Shout at him to wake up. 'Wake up! Wake up Trunks!' You shout at him inside his own head. He needs to wake up.Drowzee uses Nasty Plot. You can recognize that move on sight. You really don't like where this is going. Leech Seed drains him of health some more. He's already looking very low, but neither he or Clair seem concerned about it.'Wake up and hit Drowzee with everything you have!' You need him up now! You reach into his mind to see if you can do anything. You see his dream. He's in a mansion in a small hallway. Time passes by rapidly. Day and night go by and the only time it slows down is when a young boy comes by to water and talk to him. He's a houseplant! Wait, you recognize this place. This is the haunted mansion where you first found him. He's an actual potted plant in this dream.Suddenly the dream distorts then disappears. You're back in the real world and you see Drownzee absorbing a black ball of light he pulled from Trunks. He ate the dream! He's looking healed too! Trunks lays on the arena floor. The referee waves a flag"Phantumpt is unable to battle!"Your mind feels blank for a moment. You shake your head and focus.Clair's breathing is shallow. The longer this match goes, the more draining it is on her.You can worry about that after. You need to win this. Drowzee recovered a lot of health and pumped up his Special Attack. You can't afford any big mistakes. You need to choose your last Pokemon.>Devon! >>31904005Honestly looking at Drowzee's movepool, it doesn't have much that's really effective against a dark type. Sure it has a couple of fighting moves, but its been buffing its special attack so at worst we'd be evenly super effective attacking each other.
>>31904062Can we do that?Create hybrid moves?
>>31904062Those don't seem like they'd be easy to combo. Something like Leech Seed + Leech Horn should be possible without spending forever on it, since the moves are similar, but that? That's gotta be way hard.
>>31904062ThatThat would be pretty cool. Edgy as fuck, but cool.
>>31904069Again, if we're trading super-effective moves, I'm willing to bet Devon's attack and special attack are higher than Drowzee's attack.
>>31904095It can also learn Dazzling Gleam
>>31904139Ah well that will be the big threat then. The other moves than can actually damage us are all physical not special.
>>31904096Yeah Gobble mentioned it before. It would combine the effects of 2 moves, but make both moves half as strong. However, it would make for some creative stuff like, crunch into fire blast for a 100% to hit fire blast with a slightly weaker crunch preceeding it.
>>31904139Which, while special, would benefit from neither STAB or super effective, so proably a decent trade if we stick to dark pulse.
>>31904139ehnot SE, not STAB. It'll hurt, but we'll hurt it a lot more
>>31904190>>31904200Fairy is super effective against Dark
>>31904226Houndoom is Dark/Fire, it cancels out.
>>31904226NVE against fire
>>31904226Not against Houndoom it ain't.
>>31904226Houndoom's dark/fire. fairy does normal damage, is weak to fire, ground, rock, and water
>>31904236>>31904237>>31904244>>31904244>>31904254I see forgive my ignorance
You send out Devon. You can see him, but you can't sense him. He barks and bares his fangs at Drowzee in anticipation. As a Houndoom, he's really intimidating. You almost open your mouth to ask about why you can't sense him. They have to have some sort of Dark type workaround. You're aware of Judy nearby for the first time since the match started. She presses a button on the machine. The lights flicker and then dim very slightly, and a purple eye falls over Devon. You don't think anyone else can see it, but you're able to sense Devon with the machine."Getting the device to mimic Miracle Eye took a lot of hard work," Judy says. "It won't affect your Pokemon against Drowzee. Just concentrate on your match."Good advice. You focus on the arena. Before the match started, you bluffed in your head that you didn't teach Devon any Dark type moves. If you have him use Dark Pulse with all of his power, it might catch them off guard and take Drowzee out. Of course, that hinges on if you think Clair has been using her powers to read your next move or not.>Use Dark Pulse at full strength as quick and hard as Devon can muster>Use ranged moves, but focus on being able to dodge and less on power>Get in his face with physical attacks like Bite>Something else
>>31904179Half-damage? We'd probably be better off going for stats unless the moves have extra effects. And be prepared to cut our losses if it seems like training isn't taking quickly.
>>31904290>>Get in his face with physical attacks like Biteit'll use protect regardless of what we domight as well get up in its face
>>31904290>Use ranged moves, but focus on being able to dodge and less on powerSet her up. She's going to Protect. She's absolutely going to Protect.
>>31904272I love these so much. I just want to say thank you.
>>31904290>>Use ranged moves, but focus on being able to dodge and less on power
>>31904290>Use ranged moves, but focus on being able to dodge and less on powerLet's save Dark Pulse for when we've got a clear shot. Don't get too close, since we don't want to take a fighting move if we can avoid it.
>>31904290>Get in his face with physical attacks like Bitelets work around protect for now
>>31904290>Use Dark Pulse at full strength as quick and hard as Devon can muster
>>31904290Save Dark Pulse for round 2.>Get in his face with physical attacks like BiteFor now, stop him from being able to use range. He's going to use protect anyway, I'm pretty sure.
>>31904290dark pulse after dark pulse after dark pulseif she has to keep using protect, she can't hurt us, and it will fail soon
>>31904290>Use ranged moves, but focus on being able to dodge and less on powerthe second protect goes off, DP that drowzee
>>31904375Does Devon have the stamina to keep using dark pulse like that? It takes a lot out of him iirc.
>>31904298It'd be like a full damage move, because both moves would happen at the same time and have reduced power to compensate for the fact that there are two of them.
>>31904290>>Get in his face with physical attacks like BiteHypnosis is dangerous. Bite has a higher flinch rate.
>>31904290>Use ranged moves, but focus on being able to dodge and less on powerwait for the protect before dark pulse
>>31904290>>Use Dark Pulse at full strength as quick and hard as Devon can musterAllude to it in a surreptitious manner. Try to not let Clair know what we are up to.
>>31904435It also takes training and is kind of pointless if the moves are different types without extra effects. If one is super-effective, why not just hit with it at full power?
>>31904290>Use ranged moves, but focus on being able to dodge and less on powerOpen up with flamethrower. She should think that Devon doesn't know dark moves, so when she opens with protect, we'll show our hand if we throw down dark pulse. We want to wait and hit drowzee after it drops its defense
>>31904290>Use ranged moves, but focus on being able to dodge and less on powerI always get back in time to miss the voting period. But Flamethrower burn should get Drowzee to show off it's defense strategy.
>>31904290definitely DO NOT open up with dark pulse or bite. Let protect go off then attack. Try to avoid telegraphing this in our mind as well, in case Clair is trying to read our thoughts.
We need to find a way to make Vlad supersonic so hard he shoots a confuse ray too. Super-confusion!
You have Devon shoot off as strong a Flamethrower as he can without planting his feet. You want him ready to adapt to anything she pulls. Clair's eyes glow and Drowzee is already putting up Protect. She must have been suspecting something stronger. The flames lick around the bubble and leave Drowzee unharmed. Leech Seed drains him.Drowzee looks back to Clair. She nods and he starts charging at Devon.Devon fires off a quick Ember and keeps his distance. Drowzee stops in his tracks and uses Protect for the second time in a row. You can see visible surprise on Clair's face. You've studied moves like this a little after that fight you lost. You know that the more you use Protect in a row, the more likely it is to fail. At least, you're pretty sure that's how it works. Using it twice is supposed to be considered a gamble.Leech Seed continues to take it's toll.Clair exerts one last bit of effort. 'It was a good match Kat. You should retrieve your Pokemon.' Even in your head, her voice trembles. After she gives you that message, she visibly relaxes in her chair.>Dark Pulse! Full Power!>Just try to survive until Leech Seed takes it down.>Take Devon back and forfeit. She's probably saying that for a good reason.>Something else
>>31904734>Dark Pulse! Full Power!Drowzee can learn dazzling gleam.....finish it NOWWWWW
>>31904734>Dark Pulse! Full Power!I thought she was forfeiting herself but the choices don't seem like that's the case? Okay.

>>31904734>Dark Pulse! Full Power!CROSSU-COUNTER!!!!
>>31904734>>Dark Pulse! Full Power!Give the order indirectly. Perhaps we can keep gulling her along. Getting our puppy to take her by surprise will be rewarding.

>inb4 Mirror Coat
>>31904823She is going to get Countered so hard.
Whoops, made one text layer invisible by accident. Here's it fixed.
>>31904845She still has to take the damage. And expecting Bite or Crunch I would have Counter ready. And that Leech Seed isn't healing.
>>31904845doesn't affect dark-type
>>31904845Doesn't work on dark type pokemon. Like Devon.
>>31904854You've done something amazingI need to stop using Paint to make mine's
You don't surrender. No way. Your Pokemon worked hard to get you here.Do it!Devon and you are in sync. You both want to do the exact same thing. You can almost feel it with him. Your legs dig into the ground and you summon up your inner strength. Clair's eyes shoot open. Drowzee stops in his tracks and puts his arms in a forward position. Charging at you was a bluff! They're using Dazzling Gleam!Devon fires his Dark Pulse as hard as he can. Drowzee just barely gets Dazzling Gleam off in time, and the two beams collide. Devon is strong, but Drowzee pumped his Special Attack and Fairy beats Dark. Devon is losing ground.>Encourage Devon! He can do it! You believe in him>Join his mind fully and push as hard as you can. You're in this together>You can't let that hit Devon. Call him back>Something else

>>31905034>>Join his mind fully and push as hard as you can. You're in this together
>>31905008That reminds me, we should ask Clair to make us forget that Robin has a secret. Or she's going to obsess over it and blow up.
>>31905034>>Join his mind fully and push as hard as you can. You're in this togetherFUUUUSIOOONNHAAAAA
>>31905034>Join his mind fully and push as hard as you can. You're in this together
>>31905034>Join his mind fully and push as hard as you can. You're in this togetherLet's go full anime heart-to-heart bullshit right now.
>>31905088Thinking about it, it's like we're briefly playing a digimon tamers quest rather than pokemon.
>>31905034>>Encourage Devon! He can do it! You believe in him>>Join his mind fully and push as hard as you can. You're in this together
>>31905034>Dodge to the side and try again. We aren't rooted to the spot, are we? Devon has legs that work.
>>31904734>Dark Pulse! Full Power!can we mentally moon her?
This is a lost cause...
>>31905125It's been shown that stronger moves like Dark Pulse and flamethrower require Devon to 'dig in' in order to use them at full power. At this point if we tried to dodge, we'd probably get hit before we could move.
>>31905034>Join his mind fully and push as hard as you can. You're in this togetherWhere in a Shounen now.
>>31905149yeah...Clair should just surrender
>>31905166Fire and dodge at the same time? Hell, if he has to dig in not digging in might push him back with recoil. Angle that slightly and he's good to go.
That feeling when its 4:30 in the morning, but you don't want to go to sleep till the quest finishes. Ugh.
>>31905228Destiny is the only one allowed to rocket around the battlefield. A giant dog doing it is too weird.
>>31905311Also, the physics on that are a little weird. Brace yourself so your beam doesn't move you, then, as your beam is firing, try to unbrace yourself in such a way that you dodge an oncoming beam.
You always thought this sort of thing was a dumb cliche for people that were lucky enough not to know that believing and wishing doesn't actually do anything. Maybe that's still true, but you don't care right now. Devon is your first Pokemon. He's loyal, strong, and brave. He wants to win. He wants to be worth having you as a trainer, and you want to be worth being his trainer. You'll do whatever it takes to be worthy. You don't think. You just act. You let yourself slip into Devon. You feel every beat of his heart in your chest. You feel the ground on your feet as you strain every muscle and fiber in your being to push back.A stronger, more powerful beam explodes from Devon's mouth. Dirt, light, and darkness all fly in the air. You can barely see what's happening, but you can feel it.You lose your sense of self. The lights in the building flicker on and off as you force every fiber in your being to push. The lights in your head begin to flicker too. You think you can hear yourself screaming. The force in front of you is strong, but you can feel yourself grow stronger.Nobody is going to hurt Kat. Nobody is going to beat Devon. You overtake your enemy and blow it away. You don't even see it go down, but you know it did. That's good, your transformation didn't feel complete and it's already fading. The danger passes. Your head spins and you need to lie down. You don't know who or what you are anymore. You don't know where you are anymore.>Lay down on the arena floor. You've done your duty.>Lean on the machine console. You feel like this is where you're supposed to be>Just black out. if we had raistlin here he could totally help us out of this jam and it would be totally sweet

>>31905378>Lean on the machine console. You feel like this is where you're supposed to bewe still human.
>>31905537You don't want Clair frantically trying to fix this while all our friends shout at her?
Dammit, seems like leaning on the console is winning, but backing out or laying down would be much more interesting for the story...
Fucking did it again, why do I keep clicking layers? I need to watch what Im doing D:
Votes counted! Sorry things went so late. I just didn't want to stop. Things went differently that I was expecting which is always fun. I hope you all had as good of a time as I did. Tomorrow's thread should start and end much earlier. As always, please feel free to share any criticisms, ideas, and anything else. Have a great night!
>>31905587What were you expecting?
It turns out Kats in dogs still eat Robins.
>>31905587thanks for running Gobble, totally worth blowing off studying for finals.
