>>31493346Welcome back Skargan! Have fun last night?
Last session:+Chapter Master earned 2 xp+You gained 10 xp for the Chapter=New Rules=From now on you will be able to gain and spend new kind of experience - Chapter Experience. It can be used to improve and upgrade all and any Characters that are associated with your Chapter(so even your human allies can benefit from this). However this means that there will be a lot less GM-influenced upgrades to the characters. Instead you yourselves will be able to decide which characters are worth improving and how. Also, this new kind of xp can be earned by sending units to train or by timeskipping. If you want to upgrade any characters, please state so in the thread. Updated wiki link:http://chapterquest.wikia.com/wiki/Character_Upgrades================================Mission team:1. Chapter Master - Ironhaunt + Bolt pistol 95% HP2. >>31493456Hey, Farn! I am terribly sorry about last night, we'll try to catch up today.+++The entrance into the Low Security wing is blocked by a massive gate, you notice that it's controls are located in a small gatehouse by the side of the tunnel. On both sides of the road there are entrenched autocannon teams, each consists of 3 men. There are 12 more guardsmen protecting the gate, they wouldn't be much of a threat, however you notice specific uniform of their commander - it seems that he's one of the Inquisitorial Stormtroopers. You think he's armed with a meltagun, but aren't sure because he's standing inside the gatehouse. The gate to the LowSec at the moment is half-closed(3m entrance), you could fit through there with your bike. Will you try to rush through their defences before they can set themselves up or will you stop the Chimera, unload your men and try to storm the gate? Or maybe you'd prefer an armoured assault? +++Your krak missiles fly to their targets, first one finds its mark and immolates the first autocannon team, however second one hits the low hanging pipe and vaporises it and some sort of steam starts pouring into the hall. As you ride through it you get disoriented for a moment and you must roll a drive test to regain control of the Darkhawk(+0). Meanwhile the second autocannon fires at the approaching Chimera and empties almost a full magazine at it's frontal armour, hitting the autocannon and destroying it.Please roll d100 for your driving skill.
Rolled 33>>31493913Lol no problem man
>>31493959+Drive 47+Roll 6+Critical Success 41================Not only do you manage to maneuver Darkhawk through the steam without any problems, but you also ride straight towards the enemy positions and unload your mounted stormbolter at the guards, forcing them to seek cover. There still are two serious threats for the Chimera - Stormtrooper with the meltagun inside the gatehouse and the autocannon emplacement. Without a thought, you choose the more dangerous of the two and drive your attack bike towards the gatehouse, preparing to ram it. The weak structure stands no chance against 2 tonnes of steel, adamantium and Astartes flying straight at it at over 200kmph. You drive through the gatehouse like a hot knife through butter, crushing everyone inside and destabilising it enough so that the building topples on itself once you exit it through the back wall. You fire another two Krak rockets at the remains of the enemy, destroying the autocannon nest and killing the last squad of guards. Argos contacts you over the vox:>By the Emperor, that was IMPRESSIVE! We got hit, it seems our autocannon is out of action for now. It seems the way is clear for us towards the prison cells... Shall we begin the prison riot?+++As you enter the LowSec wing, you notice thousands of doors on both sides of the tunnel, a total of 4 floors. You know from the briefing that while most of the prisoners that Inquisition apprehends are executed, quite often it's not useful to do so, especially when prisoners are vital to the ongoing investigations or simply are too well connected or too important to be executed. These halls are filled with people arrested for such minor offences as using Eldar-made jewelry or trying to summon the spirit of loved one who died. However there is also a significant number of violent offenders and heretics who have been kept alive to be later used for servitorisation process or as possible sources of information. What are you going to do?
>>31494493Start the Riot. Even if there are some valuable prisoners they obviously aren't valuable enough otherwise they'd be in the high sec part.
>>31494493>+Drive 47Is this the roll that needs to be beaten to succeed? Are we only able open all doors at once? Even if not i say we do, we need a big distraction
>>31494493Remember what Eisenhorn said? It was something along the lines of we need a distraction but it can't be too large because then everything will go to shit. I vote for releasing only the non-violent/heretical inmates if that is possible. If not, release about half.
>>31494571>>31494604Possible options to release prisoners:+Open as many cells as possible along the way - create as much chaos as possible!(100)+Open some cells, this will give prisoners a fighting chance, but won't be as dangerous(50)+Open only a few cells, we don't want this to grow too big(25)Number after each option indicates the strength of the rebellion.

>>31494767>>31494747>>31494731>>31494713>>31494797Your marines break into the internal LowSec wing guard control tower and open about 400 cells, most of those have up to 10 prisoners in them. However to make sure no one else escapes, they destroy the controls, this means that other cells will be possible to be opened only by brute force - this should by the Inquisitorial guards some time to contain the rebellion. If you want to address the freed prisoners, please roll Leadership(+30), they will be very easy to influence after you gave them their freedom.
Rolled 25>>31494972>If you want to address the freed prisoners, please roll Leadership(+30), they will be very easy to influence after you gave them their freedom.

>>31495018No, I didn't participate in the combat upclose, I am not that good. However I was taking interviews from the guys on barricades - see pic attached. Also, I met that guy with AC/DC on his helmet, unfortunately I don't have his pic.>>31494991>>31495019>>31495026The prisoners rise up in a mixture of hope and fury and march off towards the Inquisitorial palace... You may roll Awareness(-20).
Rolled 67>>31495345The Emperor sees through all
Rolled 25>>31495367We probably just let a bunch of alpha legionaries out and didn't even notice lol
>>31495367I guess our eyes aren't augmented
>>31495556What a shame
>>31495367It seems that during the battle one of the numerous lasbolts damaged the voice imitator in your helmet, rendering you effectively mute while you are wearing a helmet. To address the prisoners better you took off your helmet and climbed on top of a table. While your words have inspired courage in their ranks, neither you, nor your men noticed one prisoner among many, who watched at you with his mouth wide open. He was shocked beyond any words - the prisoner never hoped to see your face again... And now that he did, an evil smile appeared on his face. At last, he will have a chance to have his revenge. Dresos Kand turned around and disappeared in the crowd.+++What do you do next?
>>31495682>Fucking find him now >Inform the inquisitor Damm we dun goofed
>>31495682If he survives and this gets out we'll just say it was a ploy of chaos to implement our chapter.Let's make our way to deiron now>>31495743We didn't notice him so we can't
>>31495682Point at him:>SPY!!!!! HE'S AN INQUISITORIAL SPY PLANTED HERE TO RAT ON YOU!!!
>>31495682To the objective!
>>31495682Find a new helmetDestroy all surveillance devices/Surveillance nexusOnwards to the objective
>>31495823Never mind, just realised that WE didn't notice HIM.Though must ponder what insanity would possess a man to remove his helmet where the OVERWHELMINGLY top priority of this mission was 'no one can know it's us'.
>>31495815>>31495831As Fansworth well noted, you have no idea that Kand was among the prisoners(no meta please), so I'll take it that you are going towards the HighSec wing. Please roll d100
>>31495928Where would the surveillance center be located?
>>31495951The High Security wing is quite far away, however the fact that you are now in a Chimera and with an attack bike helps you to cover that distance quickly. The guards along the way offer you no significant resistance, and very soon you reach the outer gates of the most secure place in the whole system. The gates seem to be unlocked, but they are closed. Argos voices the thing that seems to be bothering everyone in your team:>Behind these gates there is most likely an ambush. The riot we created will buy us time, but the units are guarding this facility are expecting us coming this way. How shall we do this?Possible extra options:1. Roll Repair(+0) skill to open up the under-tunnel maintenance tunnels that are big enough even for marines to pass underneath the gates2. Roll Tech-Use(+10) skill to hack the cameras inside the HighSec to see whether anyone is waiting for you behind the door.3. Climb to the top of the ceiling and use cable-holes to emerge on the other side of the gate, opening good spot for sniping(Acrobatics +0, if in power armour -20)>>31496149Inquisitorial Palace, most likely. Why would that interest you? You noticed no cameras so far.
>>31495928Hey guys lets have void squad shout the iron warriors(that's what they are right?) battle cry whenever fight now to help keep the heat off us. This will be helped if the find hull's arm
>>31496293>This will be helped if the find hull's armWe took it with us
Rolled 18>>31496287Lol of course we haven't noticed our awareness suckslet's hack the cameras and make sure our helmets on, if we want to say something us our vox and have argos say it.
>>31495682>taking off helmet, revealing face to security cameras and a room full of prisoners>on a mission where being identified means the death of our chapter.I'm sorry, but why wouldn't we simply have one of our other marines speak for us instead? We're not Forest Gump, damnit. That shouldn't even be an option to do.
>>31496287We kinda just took off our helmet that's why >>31496358Are you a wizard?
>>31496369Because we rolled a nat 100>>31496379Nah I've still got a few years left
>>31496417A nat 100 to notice some detail shouldn't reduce our int to -600
And guys shouldn't the Apothecary take care of the injured one? Instead of the brother with the melta?
>>31496440That would probably be for the best
>>31496322Please direct me to the post specifying it. Otherwise it could have been lost in the rubble on 50% chance and you forgot to look for it.>>31496358+Tech-Use = 24+Roll = 18+Minor Success = 6================You quickly type the prayers of machine veneration into the cogitator on the wall by the gate and as minor machine spirit opens itself to you, your team gets access to camera feed from inside the facility. Argos was right, inside there are guards waiting to ambush you. They have parked three Chimeras behind each other across the tunnel, blocking it completely. There are around 40 guards and 20 stormtroopers hiding behind them. They have a few meltaguns and some grenade launchers. The Chimeras are armed with a heavy Flamer, Autocannon and a Multilaser. Also, you notice that behind them there is a figure that commands them... A figure in light power armour and Inquisitorial seal on it's armour. That person is surrounded by a retinue, however as they are standing at a bad angle for the camera to show them to you. Apothecary Lakentos speaks his mind:>Inquisitor might not be a strong opponent in a physical sense, but I sure as hell am more afraid of that single Inquisitor than of all the others that are waiting out there. They always have a trick up their sleeve. Also, it feels somehow wrong to fight him... He is after all a servant of the Emperor and a lot more important than common guards. What shall we do?
>>31496627Hmm we could try to>Flood them with prisoners >Try to go under/over/ around them
>>31496627>Please direct me to the post specifying it.http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/31386846/>Fuck off, Lakentos! I ain't dead yet! I told you that I could take steaks out of fire with my bare hands, did I! Lakentos, I told you to fuck off! DAMN! It HURTS! Better go look for my arm! NO GRAVE SHALL TAKE ME, DAMMIT!> Better go look for my arm!
>>31496627Then we won't fight him. We have to create a diversion and slip by.
>>31496627I have NO idea how to not-kill the Inquisitor. Maybe when the prisoners begin their attack on the =][= palace he'll go there?
>>31497154>>31497182So flood them with prisoners and then slip by?
>>31496759Unfortunately prisoners have went the other way, towards the Inquisitorial Palace, but if you would get back and somehow convince them to come this way... We'll it would be hard, would take between 2-6 hours but could be possible. On the other hand if you leave this gate now, by then the forces defending it could triple. You are not sure whether it's a good idea, but you can roll d100 for Strategy and d100 for Leadership(-10) to acomplish it.>>31496827That indicates a suggestion in the heat of the moment that could have went unheard. You had more things to worry about at the moment. If you wish, you may roll d100 with 50% chance the arm is lost (1-50). There was no specific post for retrieval of the arm. Also, it doesn't really matter, because of Iron Warrior DNA.>>31497154>>31497182How will you go about doing that? Inquisitor will not go anywhere because you are blocking the only path in-out of the HighSec complex. It was designed this way.
Rolled 79>>31497480>If you wish, you may roll d100 with 50% chance the arm is lost (1-50).
>>31497480The plan: We send one of our brothers to sneak through the ventilations to the other side. This will allow us to have better image of what forces are inside giving us more precise plan of attack. Then the marine inside will create a distraction leading the inquisitor into thinking we are all trying to sneak through. When the inquisitor leaves with his guards to "stop us" we break through the gate, pick up the marine and dart off. All without fighting the servant of the emperor.
>>31497711Roll Repair(+0) to open the maintenance hatch without creating any problems.
Rolled 44>>31497770I see a near future where I roll a nat 100
>>31497770Do any of Void Squad have skill in repair?
>>31497808+Repair = 24+Roll = 44+Failure = 20===============Maintenance hatch seems to be hermetically sealed and opening it(or like Darew suggested, melting through it) would most likely damage the whole maintenance structure. If there are any flamable things inside, they would explode and there's also a chance that it could collapse on itself. What do you do next?
>>31497808+Repair = 24+Roll = 44+Failure = 20===============Maintenance hatch seems to be hermetically sealed and opening it(or like Darew suggested, melting through it) would most likely damage the whole maintenance structure. What do you do next?>>31497818There is a slight chance, but not very likely. you may roll d100, if it's under 20, someone will have repair skill of 30+2d10
>>31497480Line up the chimera to face the gate, set it up as a ramp.Get some distance from it, turn the bike around, and put the pedal to the metal.Lets burn some rubber!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qKggnBh2Mdw
>>31497922>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qKggnBh2MdwThat should become the official hymn of that bike imho
>>31497922I don't think we should do that.
>>31497922Could work, I assume that you'll open the blastgate as well before doing your stunt? Would you aim to land on one of Chimeras/in front of them/behind them? What would the rest of the Void Squad do?It would take a successful Drive(+0) test, but a ramp would add +(20). This Drive test would be taken from your Agility, not Perception like usually.
>>31497907Anybody think we should contact Eisenbro? We're kinda stuck btween a rock and a hard place. Also do we have a time limit?
>>31498035Most likely there are reinforcements coming, however the main force will be coming to hunt you down only once the riot is put down. You can only transmit for him, there will be no reply. Also, Eisenhorn left this option as a last resort.
So again we're back to 'No way to not-engage the Inquisitor'.Fuck it lets just attack.Void Squad should dismount and follow the Chimera in on foot, using it as cover. Fill the Chimera with the looted lasgun power packs and set them to explode.Set the Chimera on course with the enemy autocannon Chimera (biggest threat) and jam down the accelerator, then as the chimera roars forwards and explodes, void squad takes advantage of the confusion and starts pouring on the hurt.Meanwhile we cand do aforementioned Evil Knievel shit with the bike or whatever.
>>31498098Also could try eliminating the lights or climbing up to that sniper spot and throwing the power packs from there.
Can't we talk our way out of it? For example tell the Inquisitor that we should escort a dangerous prisoner out this wing of because of the riot that wants to set hi/her/it free. In an Inq prison half of the people have secrets they don't tell the other half, and with power armour and chimera we look halfway official?
Quick reminder of Our sword IronHaunts abilities >Electromagnetic Strike - Ironhaunt can be activated to release a surge of electricity with a strike, it is powerful enough to fry any technological enemy or power armour and to electrocute almost any organic thing.>Overcharge - Ironhaunt can be used as a conduit to release arches of lightning, electrocuting groups of enemies at once. However this ability should not be used lightly - it can be dangerous to the user and requires a lot of energy.>EMP field - Ironhaunt emanates low frequency electromagnetic pulses that disrupt processes within non-shielded electronics in the vicinity. Powerful enough to deny enemy use of complex ranged weapons, communications and to give mechanical enemies(like Men of Iron) -10 penalty to actions they take. Constantly drains power.
Idea.We jump completely over the enemies on Darkhawk and completely bypass them, roaring top speed down the nearest corridor leading to HighSec away from the entrance area. Take a few melta bombs for breaking Deiron out and blowing a hole in the side of the complex to escape (get Deiron to go into suspended animation to survive the vacuum).MEANWHILE. Void Squad, in order to stop the forces guarding HighSec coming after us, use explosives to blow a hole in the side of the base and exposing the entrance of HighSec to hard vacuum. Then they cheese-it in the Chimera and wait for us behind a crater. This will also either suck the defenders into space or trigger an automatic lockdown of the area to prevent atmospheric venting. Either way it screws them over. What do we think?
>>31498018? Land in front of the Inq and subdue him with the sword ?
>>31498639One question how many Fp's we got?
>>31498639Could work, but I doubt high security is on the outside and not buried deep inside the facility...-> Jump over troops, subdue Inq, drive full speed to Deiron, exchange Deiron with Inq, drive back?
>>31498682Well okay then Operation: Gaping Maw it is then>>31498639Seconded
>>31498767>exchange Deiron with Inq,erm, we're trying to escape *with* Deiron
>>31498805Exchange: Put the Inq in Deirons cell, and take Deiron back with us
>>31498639Let's try it. Its the best idea i've seen and i have nothing better
I have a question for you Skargan, or anyone really. I really want to get my roommates and some friends into tabletop. I want to do the campaign in a 40k setting. I am also the only one with an kind of experience in this kind of thing so I'll definitely GM. My question is what would be the best kind of campaign? Rogue Trader? Dark Heresy? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also I'm asking you because i really enjoy your quest and I consider it the best one I've seen or been a part of.
Rolled 76>>31499887Dark Heresy is in a sense easier to manage from why I heard. Due to being on atleast one planet for the majority of a quest while Rouge trader there's a lot you have to consider
Is the thread dead?
>>31500267no. intense discussion in the chat
>>31500394can we get that facility map again?
>>31500764there you go
Okay so it turns out we're deep underground so the whole 'going outside' thing is kaput. How about we attach the lasgun chargepacks to the outside of the Chimera, make it trundle towards the centre enemy chimera and kablooie when it hits. Then we take advantage of the confusion to charge in and kill them.Thoughts
>>31501058Also set a fire inside the Chimera. The enemy will be super confused by the lone smoking Chimera with friendly markings coming through the gate towards them.
Rolled 44>>31501058>>31501117Works for me
Prioritise heavy weapons, terminate melta infantry, then eliminate whilst trying to not completely destroy any enemy chimeras left.
Rolled 90>>31501058>>31501117and remove the hull-mounted Heavy Bolter on the tank, assign to one of our brothersIt should be removable from the interior of the tank.
Also, IF POSSIBLE, just neutralise the inquisitor.
Rolled 69>>31501201While you are not keen on parting with your Chimera, this is the only way that you see this plan working. You use all two dozens of lasgun packs that you have to plant them on the Chimeras frontal armour and connected with wire to the comms receiver. You then open the gate and send it towards the enemy line. Inquisitorial guards have clearly not expected one of their own Chimeras to appear out of nowhere, speeding at them. When a few of them get their wits together and start firing - it's too late, your Chimera slams with full force into the middle of the enemy barricade and just at that same moment Sergeant Argos voxes your Chimera, activating all of the charges. Explosion is so strong that a cascade of dust and rock splinters fall down from the ceilings. Void Squad charges disoriented enemy with you leading the attack on the Darkhawk. Will you:>Attempt to break through the enemy(no contest, enemy is disorganised)>Attempt to engage and subdue the Inquisitor(personal duel, roll d100)>Attempt to eliminate all of the guards(roll d100 for combat)I am rolling for enemy resistance
Rolled 87>>31501645>>Attempt to engage and subdue the Inquisitor(personal duel, roll d100)We don't need him behind us giving void problems
Rolled 78>>31501645eliminate the guards, dead men cannot vox for reinforcements.
Rolled 23>>31501645>Attempt to engage and subdue the Inquisitor(personal duel, roll d100)Time to destroy their morale
Rolled 88>>31501645>Attempt to engage and subdue the InquisitorBreak through the enemy line and do a cinematic tier leap to engage the Inquisitor in single combat. With a punch to the face.Have Darkhawk's autopilot turn around and engage the rear armor of the chimeras with storm bolters. Or have the passenger swap places with us and do so.Bolters should tear into chimera rear armor easily.
Rolled 69>>31501645>>Attempt to eliminate all of the guards(roll d100 for combat)
>>31501804That sounds pretty damn cool
>>31501751You soon find him among the smoke and dead bodies, Inquisitor is still shocked by the explosion, but by the time you stop your bike and jump off he's already attacking you with a speed that you wouldn't expect from a mortal. He does his best, striking and slashing at you with his power sword, but despite all of his efforts he is still no more of a threat to you than a novice fresh from Mormark. You almost lazily beat back his attacks and half-heartedly punch him in the chest, pushing all air out of his lungs. Inquisitor is down on his knees, unable to continue his fight, what shall you do?>Cut off his legs, Inquisition will supply him with good prosthetics>Strike him unconscious, let's hope he will not wake up too soon>Lift him up and speak with him>Kill him, this encounter must remain a secret>>31501804Void Squad together with Darkhawk are now mopping up the remains of enemy force, but there is no serious resistance. Please tell me what are you doing and then roll d100 to search for Deirons' cell.
>>31502028I say cut off his legs. This is no time for sentimentality. I'm assuming the power sword will cauterise the stumps and he won't bleed out.

But you feel that something is very wrong. The door is no locked. Do you do anything with other prisoners or do you go straight to Deiron?
>>31502613You know, if we release some of the orks, more confusion will be caused and it might be possible to hold off reinforcements for a while.
>>31502613>Nameless Harlequin, surrendered without any fight for unknown reasons close to Athena PrimeDo we still have beef with the laughing god?
>>31502697no>>31502613>The door is not lockedHas he somehow escaped of his own accord? Or is it a trap?!
>>31502613Greet the Harlequin, ask if the time has come for action.Perhaps we should release the Red Giants, gun them down, and detonate their bodies with melta bombs.
>>31502697Your debt has been repaid, but the Harlequins serve Him...
>>31502736maybe we should have something else open the door, like a prisoner?

>>31502815>>31502785>Perhaps we should release the Red Giants, gun them down, and detonate their bodies with melta bombs. Both? Force a red giant into the cell first?
>>31502613How come we never started to use gnars and the flying dragon things on Mormark as beasts of war?
>>31502785>>31502836>There was a song of sorrow in the winds of aether, oh war-making-one, and it led me here. And you are neither lost, nor blind, only confused. Only in these mon-keigh walls did I realise that the song that led me was sung the One Who Laughs in order to give me purpose and role to play on this stage that we call life. If you would free me, oh blood-drinking-one, I would follow you until the song changes or the play ends, but that would mean that through my person you would be inviting Him back into your sphere of creation. I feel strings that show your fall and salvation that were in great part done for His amusement, but this time you are not desperate and there are no tricks to be played on your mortal soul, it's your choice which path you choose. Harlequin falls silent.>>31502859If you want to kill the red giants, give me exact information and roll d100

>>31503172Leaves someone with no armor and we still need to get out of the facility and not let anyone know who we are so revealing someone is counter productive to that
>>31503132>I see you speak of the she-seer who has tasted the forbidden fruit and lost her touch with the aether. I and my playmaster are indeed capable of such healing, the question is whether such a feat is worth the audience? Something must be lost in order for something to be gained. >>31503123Which one do you pick? The other two are unarmed and chained in heavily warded cells, so they are unable to do much when you mercilessly slaughter them.
Release Red Giants.Kill Red Giants.Melta corpses to make them ruined but DNA examinable and spread around the corridors.Yay plausible suspects that aren't us.Then go to Deiron's cell and as we approach utter a few inane lines from that Book he gave us.
>>31503399Donerg, because why not? This action agreeable with everyone?
The more I think about it the more I realise that the =][= will be able to identify the dead bodies as their prisoners, which will only make it obvious they were butchered as part of a bluff to place blame on the Red Giants.Just ignore the other prisoners, approach Deiron's cell whilst uttering lines from his book?
