Welcome to Academy City. The time is afternoon, the weather is fine and the date is August 7.You are Kyril Torikov, ‘Level 2’ Telekinetic Child Error and you have just fleeced an Anglican magician. It was not your fault that he had declared the terms and retroactively found them unsatisfactory. You of course held up your part of the bargain and answered his questions. There were certain things you omitted of course but you did not explicitly lie to him. All in all, there was nobody but himself to blame. With business concluded, you turn back to your girlfriend Asuka. Along with your Sikh acquaintance Kaoru, the two have been chatting about something or another. As the spell that allowed you to speak and understand Punjabi replaced your ability to speak and understand Japanese, your lack of insight in to their conversation was understandable. As soon as Kaoru spoke to you in Japanese your mastery of your first language returns to you.“Torikov-san, your payment shall be forthcoming within the day,” she assured that you would get paid, “I would also like to hire you to assist in resolving a problem our mutual acquaintance has.”“As much as I appreciate your capability for financial independence dear, I would rather you not given your current condition,” Asuka interjected.“Rest assured Kudou-san that we only require his counsel rather than any direct action on his part,” Kaoru turns back to you, “I will double your pay.”Assist the magician?>Accept>Decline
The rules are pic related. For more information see: http://padlet.com/wall/acsquareq
>>31368168First, what's the job?
>>31368214This. Lets get some details first
You took your time to consider the offer and savour your tea. Kaoru had not explicitly stated what she needed you for, and you were not nearly stupid enough to accept right there and then.“What exactly do you need me for though?” you asked.Kaoru smiled at your response. Perhaps she was expecting the question.“I would like you to help direct our efforts,” Kaoru slipped back in to Punjabi, “I was told that you have a knack for navigating in areas where you should not be.”“How did you find out?” you ask as you ignored Asuka’s deepening frown, “And do I have to hold your hand through it?”“Torikov, I am Judgement and unlike some you may know I actually walk the beat. The rest is simply keeping an ear out, though in this case you were recommended for the task,” she answered, “As for your task, you will not be accompanying us. Given your injuries and the source of them, I think you’d best serve as a planner and manager. Both of which are roles that can be fulfilled remotely. I will, of course, divulge further details upon your acceptance.”So it sounded like she wanted to break in to somewhere and she needed your help with navigating and mission control. It was enough to know that you could be safely sitting in your room to do this job. There of course remained a catch but with Kaoru fulfilling the unspoken “reasonableness” quota, you don’t think you’d be able to find out more.Accept the request?>Y>N
>>31369095>YAlready in a wheelchair, have dates we need to do stuff on, already have enemies and apparently a reputation, just recovered after getting in over our heads, ect.Hey guys, know what we need? More excitement!
>YI feel like Asuka is going to be mad at us but fuck it.
>>31369332One of the reasons she likes us is because we do stupid stuff like this. I think we're good.
>>31369095>YA mission where we get to sit on our ass and let others do the monkey work? eh might be cool.
>>31369361I thinks it's more the fact we did stupid stuff with her, but I'm more referring to all the secrecy going on right in front of her that lead to us taking a job she doesn't fully understand the contents.
>>31369457Yeah, maybe we should go ahead and tell her. I can't see much bad happening from telling her about the vampires apart from her getting caught up with teacher.
>>31369620well there's also the issue of will she believe us when we tell her vampires are real and not think that we're trying telling her to butt out by telling her dumb lies. But yeah I feel the longer we keeps this all secret from her the more problems it will cause than prevent. Specially if she serious about nursing us back to health through this endeavor.
Is Asuka aware of magic yet?She has to at least think it's strange we know Punjabi.
We won't be able to have cute nursing antics unless we are straight with her.
>>31369833I don't think she even know her sword is magic, and I imagine that the Punjabi thing will come up and we better have a good explanation. Even if we do decide to tell her about magic and stuff we'll need more than "It was magic">>31369861We might get more actually if we keep it all a secret as she takes care of us while she tries to squeeze info out of us at the same time. Bandages get put on to tight or in placed more inconveniently, eat too many pain killers, offers to give massage but is a bit too rough, etc.
“I’m in,” was your reply.“Splendid,” Kaoru switched back to Japanese, “Sivan shall give you further details once you get home.”“I would assume that there is some, and I quote, ‘fighting to be had,’ otherwise you would not be pursuing this course of action,” Asuka started, “If so I would like to accompany you.”“Actually I gave him a desk job,” Kaoru answered, “A safe one very far away from life-threatening danger.”“Then I suppose I should only feel mild disappointment then,” Asuka turned back to her tea, “Well do not let me keep you from discussing your dubious endeavours.”“Actually, our business is concluded,” Kaoru got up, “Have a good day.”Stiyl left silently with Kaoru. This left you alone with Asuka and you wonder about the necessity of hiding magic from her. She could easily rip the secrets from you without but a few words but so far has not. You weren’t sure if she trusted you, knew the value of discretion or otherwise. Then again, how were you going to explain the existence of magic from her? A lot of the effects you’ve experienced could be replicated by mundane or scientific means. In fact, if you thought about it, she rationalised away the peculiarities of The Dean in such a way.“I am curious,” she broke you out of your thoughts, “What exactly was that language you were speaking in and where did you learn it?”>Write-in your answer
>>31370184"Magic~" Do the sailor moon thing, you sometime saw on TV.
>>31370184"Punjabi? I tried to pick up some foreign languages as a hobby back when I was younger. This was the only one that stuck. Well, aside from Russian."
>>31370184Pungabi and that's a secret~And those aren't meant to be shared out in the open neh?I don't really see how not telling her about magic would protect her.
>>31370184Relationships are built on trust.May as well tell her it's magic and while we're at it mention that her sword has some sort of blood magic with it.On a side note, did we ever guess what the magic colors corresponded to?Red = Magic from bloodYellow = Magic from Faith/Holy?Green = Magic from Earth?
>>31370272well from experience I would say getting mixed up with magicians isn't always good for your health. But then again she's probably more than capable to handle herself. Also seconded
>>31370184Something I picked up while doing business. It helps.>>31370272>>31370334How about if she asks we tell her. Muh nursing antics...
>>31370334We could get some easy confirmation once we meet index again.
>>31370429I can get behind that I think. No reason hide it, but she kinda witnessed it and if she really stays for a long haul she'll be seeing a lot more it. She'll have to ask eventually and will be more open to the idea when she does.
“Would you believe me if I told you it was magic?” you asked. She only continues staring and she was not amused.“Alright, it’s Punjabi,” you tried again, “Apparently I pick up foreign languages like magic.”“Well it would certainly explain how you knew Russian despite being raised in Academy City since you were a child,” Asuka relented, “If you really wish to not tell me then you could have just said so.”Well you’re not sure what you could say to convince her, at least not in public anyway.“I’ll keep your words in mind then,” she finally said, “Now on to other matters. Your doctor has prescribed plenty of bed rest and I intend for you to get it.”“Well I won’t argue with that.”“I am glad that you will not. There is nothing scarier than a person who knows exactly how the human body works and how to destroy it,” she started wheeling you out, “I shall not award points for correctly guessing my future career path.”Asuka may have said that she intended for you to get some rest but there’s no reason you couldn’t head out somewhere. Apart from going home the only other places to visit were either the junkyard or Cypress Park. The former was because it might be a good idea to give your boss a heads up. The latter because Mum was worried enough about you to send Sagara.>Head home>Head to the junkyard>Head to Cypress Park
>>31371107>>Head to the junkyardMight as well head that off sooner rather than later.
>>31371107>>Head to the junkyardShould probably give him a heads up. Also didn't we give the scooter to one of our friends along with the work load? or no?
>>31371216Nope, he paid cash, we still have to pay off the work.
Rolled 1It's all tied up it seems. Tiebreaker dice it is then.1. Junkyard2. Cypress Park
>>31371409Off to the junkyard I guess. You know that we could have gone in person to cypress and just called in.Mum>Boss man
We would probably run into something more interesting at the junkyard then Cypress.
>>31371985In a wheelchair?I'd thinm we'd find death
>>31372154We can still TK stuff into people.
Is... Is Bored dead?
>>31373245this is the longest I've ever seen him gone. His connection might have fucked up. Its happened before....
Anyone know where Bored lives so we can call the ambulance?
>>31373481Judging from his previous posts I'd say he's a Frenchman.
>>31373481he's like 6-7 hours ahead us 'Murricans. him nodding off isn't unlikely, though its not really like. he's burned the midnight oil practically every thread.somebody better early archive JIC
