Welcome to Academy City. The time is sleepy, the weather is dreamy and the date is irrelevant. You are Kyril Torikov, ‘Level 2’ Telekinetic Child Error and you are hovering between wakefulness and sleep. Somewhere along your body you can feel muted pain. Your eyes are shut but your mind is active. The dream in front of you has been replaying itself, each action you take accompanied by a small spike of pain. That’s not what’s bothering you the most however. Vaguely you remember that you were hurt but you’re not sure by what. Perhaps your mind shut it out. Too bad it was replacing it with something you thought you dealt with. You’re back at the warehouse again. Everything is as you experienced. The door, the noise, the weight, everything set up as you best as you remembered. You even moved exactly as you thought you did as you breached the door. The gun rose up and emptied itself in a matter of seconds. It feels strange to be able to watch yourself hosing down five men from a detached perspective but such was the realm of dreams. The scene would repeat itself, like a high definition action replay complete with slow motion bullet time. The only thing was sports commentary. You suppose that your conscious self was given that privilege. Though if this was a dream then you were probably lucid enough to affect a change when the scene resets.>Stop yourself from firing>Let the scene play out>Make sure to aim this time>Wake up
The rules are pic related. For more information see: http://padlet.com/wall/acsquareq

It’s almost a trivial thing to influence your actions. Instead of simply charging in and mowing them down you elect to take the time to aim. From the repetition you’ve practically memorised their positions. Your entry is slow and deliberate but it still spooks the five inside the room. They almost sag in relief when you lower your weapon. That’s when you pull the trigger briefly. The gun spits out a few bullets this time, striking the first goon in the leg but the recoil brings up the muzzle. Before his friends could even think of pulling out their pieces you’re already aiming at the next one. Cycling through them with short controlled bursts you manage to put them all down clinically but cleanly. It’s a shame that this was but an image of the past, something you wanted to change but couldn’t.Thus you awake to a hospital room. The pain is still there, running a merry path along your body. A small pinprick in your left arm reveals an IV line. You can’t move your head, you’re too tired to. Your eyes however were moving fine if sluggishly. To the side of your bed two men are talking to each other. Though their backs are turned you assume the white-coated one is your doctor and the beige suited one is Teacher. They haven’t noticed you yet so you can eavesdrop or you could attempt communication.>Ask them what happened>Remain silent and rest
>>31225289>Remain silent and rest
>>31225289Teach probably knows we're awake anyway.Just sit and listen, though.
>>31225289>>Remain silent and listen in
You feel tired. So tired that you don’t even bother to try and communicate. Besides, Teacher probably knew you were already awake or something. It’d fit the whole wise old master vibe he had. A quick look out of the window reveals the time to be evening, but the weather and the date still escapes you. Still it couldn’t be more than a day or two you think. Your idleness also allows you to listen in on their conversation.“I hope this will not be a common occurrence,” the doctor speaks, “Those cuts are definitely not manmade.”“I think it was based on the Icelandic Runic Poems though I’m not an expert,” Teacher replies, “They like to use really old stuff.”“At least he wasn’t bitten,” the doctor sighs, “What a fine mess that would have been.”“Of course not,” Teacher assures, “I don’t think he’ll meet another vampire ever again.”“You know that’s not the issue here,” the doc sighs.“I know, my track record with students isn’t the best but I care about them all the same. I owe you one, Heaven Canceller.”“Don’t worry about it. As long as you still live I can save you,” the doc checks his watch before turning around, “How are you feeling?”Teacher turns around, doffs his hat and makes for the door.>Stop Teacher and ask him something>Answer the good doctor>Ask the doctor a question insteadWrite-ins are for all options

>>31225843>>Answer the good doctor"Tired."I don't think we ever answered Teacher's question about why we fight. But then I don't think he really wanted to know so much as make us think about it.Should we say something to him before he leaves? I feel like we should, but I'm drawing blanks.
>>31225843>Stop Teacher and ask him somethingAsk is he plans on holding up his end of the bargain.Damn addon is acting up.
>>31225963I'll say. I have to use the old post form.
>>31225963This. We also still need to deliver on our promise to help him find his wife.
>>31225843You want to say something to Teacher first but you’re not sure what to say. When you finally settle on something he’s already gone. The doctor follows your eyes as you watch Teacher leave.“Don’t worry, he’ll be back,” he reassures before asking you again, “How are you feeling?”You take a minute to focus on the doctor again.“Bad, tired.”“Sounds about right given the blood loss. I’m not even sure how much you lost but the janitors were definitely complaining this morning,” the doctor picks up a clip board from somewhere, “Let’s see, you had approximately eight lacerations of varying depth across both the torso and abdomen. Some are bone deep. Another eight seemed to be mirrored on your back though they’re shallow. You also have more stitches that the gown you’re wearing.”“Fancy nickname,” you voice your next thought.“That’s probably the pain medication,” he shuffles around to your IV line, “I’ll have to talk to the nurses about that. Try not to move too much, you’ll be stuck in bed for a day at the least and even then I wouldn’t recommend moving too much.”“Date?”“Oh right, I suppose you’ll want to know the date as well. It’s the fifth. You spent most of the day in surgery after you came in last night. Anyways I’ll leave you to your rest if that’s all.”Do you have further questions for the doctor with a fancy nickname?>Yes (write-in)>No, go to sleep

“How did you earn that nickname?”It takes a considerable effort to string a proper question together.“You’re still on about that?” he asks, “Well that’s because I’m good enough to cancel people’s appointment with Heaven.”“And what’s my story?”“Ah yes, can’t have people learning of the other side now can we?” he remembers, “Given your history I’d say you got jumped by some very unkind individuals with sharp pointy objects. Now you really need to rest up, you’re going to have some very curious visitors tomorrow.”With that, Heaven Canceller leaves and you finally fall asleep. You don’t dream. The time is morning, the weather looks cloudy and the date is now August 6.You’ve woken up like usual now and that’s when you really feel the pain. Just the act of breathing reminds you exactly of how and where you’ve been stitched back together. The first nurse to check in on you gets you some painkillers shortly and it only dulls the sensation enough that it’s not unbearable. Breakfast is likewise a painful affair. Not only was sitting up an effort but it takes more effort than you liked to even feed yourself. The porridge tasting terrible does little to make you feel better. At least talking was now not nearly as tiring.Your first batch of visitors this morning is,>Yomikawa>Sagara>Kaoru
>>31227611>SagaraHe won't yell at us
>>31227611>SagaraStart off with someone who is used to seeing Kyril injured.
When we do end up seeing Yomikawa we should fall back to the 'went street fighting' excuse.
You really don’t know why you were expecting anyone else but Sagara really. He seems to always know what’s up with you and the reverse was usually true. This time however, your positions are reversed. Unlike you however, his head does track the nurse was she exits to give the two of you privacy.“They sure did a real number on you didn’t they?” he greets.“Yeah, they did, hurts like hell if it weren’t for the painkillers.”“I’d imagine.”“How’d you find out about me anyway?”“Mum got a call yesterday morning saying something about you being hospitalised. She made me check up on you,” he frowns, “From the way the doc spoke it was almost like you wouldn’t make it. Had us all worried.”“Sorry about that.”“Save it for Mum, or Aneue,” he shudders. You both knew you really weren’t that sorry.“So what really happened out there?” Sagara finally asked.“Fuckers with stilettos that’s what,” you give him the official story, “I guess some good Samaritan saved me or else I wouldn’t be here.”You’re not sure if he buys it but if anything he doesn’t press further in to the matter.“Oh and one more thing, Tadakuni went and got himself an actual bike license. Don’t ask me how, he wouldn’t tell me. He’s looking to buy that yellow Vespa off you.”Sell Tadakuni your Vespa?>Give it to him free>Sell it>Keep the Vespa

>>31228441>Just cash with a friendly discount (default)He already seems pretty willing to work with Kyril for jobs and such. An IOU seems redundant.
>>31228441>Just cash with a friendly discount (default)
>>31228460There's nothing wrong with an IOU, as a precautionary measure, but would also mean that we have a reason for him not to trust us, or that we expect to make one. We don't have enough need of his assistance for a flag like that. Not necessarily redundant, though.

>>31228441>An IOU or a favour of some sort

There really isn’t a point any more for you to keep really. You don’t even know how to operate it. Tadakuni was the only one who seemed interested and capable of riding it anyway. Not to mention you would be free of having to maintain it among other expenses.“Yeah sure, friend’s discount,” you tell him, “I’m still paying off the damn thing in the junkyard though.”“Right I’ll let him know about it. How’s work by the way?”“I didn’t do much of it but the boss is working on a rocket for some competition or something.”“I don’t remember any upcoming rocket competitions off the top of my head but that sounds damn cool.”“Yeah well there’s been weird stuff happening too,” you add, “Like there was this pyro-thief that tried to steal his rocket fuel and that accident he had yesterday. Or the day before that I guess. Definitely makes working there interesting though.”Sagara definitely agrees. Still the rest of the time is spent on meaningless chatter and catching up with what you missed. Kyousuke hooked up with his childhood friend, Nakazawa’s been lonely because his significant other has been called out for patrol a lot lately and Tadakuni’s aforementioned bike license acquisition. Sagara had been taking care of your stuff and even brought some books with him. They were your extra-credit textbooks along with a few others wedged in there. As lunch comes around, you were expecting a nurse but instead,>Asuka walks in>Kaoru walks in

After Sagara leaves it was time for some lunch so it was to your surprise to find Asuka walking in cheerily. A shame she is not in a nurse’s uniform as well. In her hands is a tray which you presume is your lunch. The Dean is slung across her shoulder. However your sight does betray the fact that Asuka’s sword is magical. Worst of all, it’s a rust red aura, similar to the ones you observed around vampires. You don’t know if Asuka knows that her sword is magical or not. If you were going to broach the subject, it wasn’t going to be now seeing as she plops the tray full of hearty looking soup in front of you.“Pumpkin soup,” she starts, “my good uncle’s recipe that he stole from a Swedish restaurant. The doctor did not recommend solids but I do have some shrimp in there.”Taking a seat by your side she sets down The Dean and picks up the spoon. Edging closer she scoops some of the soup up.“Now dear, say ahhh.”“No, it’s fine.”Your objection is met with a weight pressing down on one of your wounds. No amount of pain killers can block out the growing sensation without killing you and thus you comply.“How is it?” she asks.Mind control or not she really does get her way, you realise. You also thought the soup was nice. Thus lunch passed painlessly.“Now dear, I believe we both have something to say but since you are injured you may go first.”Is there anything you want to say?>Write-in

“So how was your day?” was your meek auto-response.She presses down with a thumb on a very specific and soft spot on your abdomen. You only wince lightly while maintaining a smile.“Quite splendid actually,” she answers, “I have had a grand old time propagating Kurozuma Wataru’s alibi along with deflecting an Anti-Skill investigation in to the matter. I believe there will be a hearing that we will be attending tomorrow.”She twists her thumb and you nearly hiss.“Though I suppose you may be excused from such a chore given your current condition. Still I find it unlikely that you had set out two nights ago in an attempt to deal with your,” she pauses, looking for a word.“Trauma?” you hazard.“Yes, let us call it your trauma,” her exuberance only applies more pressure to your wound, “So could you please be a dear and tell me the reason you are currently bedridden?”“I wanted to watch a fight and learn something,” you admit, “but all I ended up doing was getting attacked and nearly killed. You could even say it was a once in a lifetime opportunity.”Asuka only raises her eyebrows at it before finally removing her thumb though her hand does trace its way up your chest.“I’m sorry,” you say.“I would hope so.”She leans in but before you could kiss you hear the door open.>Nope don’t care>Look at who walked in

Aneue used to tell you didn’t have your priorities straight. You like to think that you do given that you ignore whoever just walked in. It wasn’t like the both of you were snogging on full throttle. Rather it was just a short bit of contact, a brief exchange of warmth. It’s something you could get used to. It brevity ensured that propriety was observed, or so Asuka would try to rationalise. She’ll come around eventually, of that you’re sure. The person who walks in is hidden behind a bouquet. You also see a yellow outline so you were thinking it was some kind of magical assassin until Kaoru’s face peeks out from behind the flowers. She looks conflicted.“Should I come back another time?” she asks.Asuka gives her a look, then back to you.“And so the home wrecker reveals herself? Pray tell, what excuses shall you give me this time little one?”Kaoru sighs.“There are circumstances between us that I cannot share,” the Sikh replies, “In any case I wish to make amends for last night. I was in the wrong and for that I apologise. That of course, does not mean our trust is repaired.”How devilishly vague and easily misunderstood could Kaoru be? Was she doing this on purpose?“I see,” Asuka reaches for The Dean. You could probably get a word in before violence erupts.>Defuse the situation (write-in)>Alternatively you can just let it play out

The Dean moves faster than your eye can track leaving only a solid red trail like it was a lightsaber. Kaoru of course catches the blow with her dingy little knife. The bouquet was ruined by the exchange. Both girls are surprised, Asuka because of Kaoru’s lack of apparent effort to repel her and Kaoru because of Asuka’s sword. You are way too hopped up on pain medication to stop this. They both turn and stare at you. Must have voiced that thought aloud huh? Either way it stops them and gives you the window you need to prevent a bladed deathmatch in your hospital room.“You should know by now that I rarely listen to others when there is fighting to be had. I will admit that I may have gotten in over my head,” you speak to Kaoru before turning to Asuka, “And Kaoru tried to warn me last night. I probably should have listened to her advice. She is Judgement you know?”“Then I suppose my warnings will carry more weight the next time,” Kaoru sounds relieved.“To be fair, Teacher isn’t a bad guy.”“I trust that your exchange was verbal,” Asuka slips in.“I swear on my name and my code that it is so,” Kaoru answers easily. You only nod.“I came to wish you a speedy recovery but,” Kaoru holds up the ruined bouquet, “either way I shall leave you in capable hands.”[1/2]

The two spend elect to spend your time enjoying tea and each other’s company. You are also holding hands without a care. The conversation is light, but it does give you further insight in to what you missed yesterday. Apparently Sparky, Shirai and her superior went out to finally apprehend the last remnants of Big Spider. Kurozuma barely beat them to the punch. He also got arrested but that was his plan all along so no surprise there. Kaoru did not accompany them and that was the small detail that had set Asuka off.“Speaking of which, I do not know if you have noticed but her dagger is a well used Kirpan. Is she by some chance Sikh?” Asuka asks.“Yep.”“I see, that would explain her martial prowess and her conduct.”“You know a lot about weapons?”“My uncle does,” she starts, “Though he is my uncle through law he is a connoisseur of fine blades and has a small dojo at his house. He was taught me as much as he could when he was not out on trips as a war photographer.”“And The Dean? What can you tell me about it?”“Not much, most of all I know comes from my uncle. He tells me it is a late sixteenth century longsword made for use by women. I am unsure how he divined that piece of information outside of him telling me that he ‘judged the concept of its creation’. Cryptic is it not?”Suitably so.[1/2]

Whether the both of you will attend the hearing could be decided later and after the doc gave you clearance for release. The time is now evening, the weather is still cloudy and the date remains unchanged.Like the doc predicted, you had one last visitor. It was Teacher though he looked like he was fed through a thresher of some sort. His smile hadn’t dimmed as he returned from whatever it was that he was up to.“I hope you’ve learned your lesson this time kid,” he greets.“Probably,” you shrug. His smile does widen a little.“Anyways I’ll be leaving in a few days so if you want to ask your questions you should ask them now.”What questions do you have for Teacher?>Write-in

I have,” his smile and good cheer is gone, “Or what’s left of her at any rate. Thank you for your help but I’m going to take it from here. So, two days from now, you will stay away from School District 17.”His last sentence held an undercurrent of anger. No, it felt more like he was furious. You didn’t even dare give him your condolences.“Alright,” was all you manage.Your current situation was a reminder of what happens when you don’t listen to Teacher.“You’re still going to teach me some kung fu right?”His smile returns.“Of course I will, deal’s a deal like you said. This Zhuge Liang will be your wise old kung fu master.”You both share a laugh.“By the way, the mana-vision thing is really nice and all but can you tell me what happens if I see a sword with a red aura like a vampire?”“Just a theory. When you said you saw me in green and confirmed that vampires showed up in red then the colour coding must be based on the kind of mana we emit. Wouldn’t it be natural that mana produced by a creature that feeds on blood appear red? Then it follows that a sword with a red aura must be one that has gained power from the blood it’s fed on.”“Makes sense.”“It’s just a theory though.”[1/2]
>>31233375“So what now?” you ask TeacherHe falls silent as though the previous conversation never happened. When he speaks you can feel his anger return.“I will punish the fool that sought to use Reina for their own ends,” he starts to pace, “I will bring the very Heavens themselves down on him. I will drag him down with fire and brimstone to hell.”He stops pacing yet continues lecturing.“I will let the Christians attempt their pitiful magics but I will have vengeance on that whelp who thinks Ars Magna is enough to stop me. He’s going to know the consequences of waking up the ‘Sleeping Dragon’ and filling it with a terrible resolve.”Maybe you should have listened to Kaoru after all.Episode 24 End. No interlude tonight.
